Verily, if thou seek'st a hidden gem in the heart of Toronto, where Bangladeshi fare doth reign supreme, then hie thee to Hoi Choi — a veritable feast for those who crave the most authentic delicacies of Bengal. There, thou shalt find the kabab, succulent and savory, unlike the dry wares of the East most oft seen; nay, ‘tis tender and infused with spices that sing of distant lands. Their mango lassi doth enchant the soul, as nectar poured from the very heavens, sweet and refreshing to delight the heart. And their steak? A marvel most rare, cooked to a perfection that doth honor the finest cuts. So venture forth, for in Hoi Choi thou shalt taste the truest flavors of Bangladesh, a place where revelry and flavor dost unite.
I recently dined here and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. The Fuchka was a delightful start - spicy, crispy, tangy, and flavorful. The Beef Tehari was equally fantastic, with tender beef and aromatic spices tasted like home. Also the customer service was top-notch, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Bangladeshi cuisine! The server Sabit was great and recommended amazing food and provided the best experience!
Food is average, fish curry was smelly, wait time is too long, worst customer service! Cashier lady don’t know how to handle customer, chef was very rude. There are so many good bengali restaurants out there so don’t waste your money on this. Overall experience is terrible!
I came here from all the way west of GTA, because I heard about the reputation of the food. Excellent Bangladeshi food including Jhura Beef, Mrigel and Pomphret Dopiaza. Also don’t forget to try their Fuchka and Milk tea. Highly recommended.
This Bangladeshi restaurant has a very extensive menu with not only Bangladeshi cuisine but also their take on Japanese cuisine and grilled meat. I found that to be a bit odd but since I haven’t tried many things here, I can’t comment on the taste. I had chicken samosas which were quite big and each piece costs about 2.5 I believe. I also tried their fuchka which was a big disappointment. The fuchka shells were not crispy and the filling was average. The service was good. They were very enthusiastic and polite. I would have to try their main courses to know more about the food.
My first time here and I have been craving some Mughlai paratha and it didn't disappoint. It was spot on. The dahi fuchka had a decent portion but could use a little improvement.
The beef Terhari was flavourful and not spicy. The additions elevated the dish. The butter naan, the chicken pakora, and sauce that accompanied it was great, too. The alu paratha was a perfect balance of sweet and savoury. The service was quick and very friendly. The owner made my family, and I feel welcomed. He even gave us helpful suggestions that catered to our spice tolerance. I will definitely visit again.
Update: we ordered haleem, chatpoti and daal puri. Only daal puri was fresh & tasty. They forgot how to make haleem or they might have different chef now. Both haleem & chatpoti had less salt, haleem had no spice at all. We also ordered balachang and it had sand and it's full of oil. (Old post) One of the great additions among Bangladeshi restaurants. We loved their beef haleem, it's excellent and must maintain the quality. Beef Haleem was looking mouth watering that we forgot to take a picture of it. We also ordered kolija & vegetable shingara (they need to edit their menu as it says chicken & vegetable samosa), mughlai paratha, piyaju & tea. We will go back again to try other items on their menu. It was a nice ambience, recommended for friends chatting & family lunch/dinner.
Tried their beef tehari and it was delicious, will try again soon their other items
The owner will not let you order things off the menu because the item is not getting him enough profit.
We stopped by this restaurant for dinner and we ordered chicken pakora for appetizer. It was hot, crispy and perfectly done. Dipping it in mayo or ketchup made it taste even better. Then we ordered beef khichuri. Again the khichuri was rightly cooked and the aromatic beef added to the khichuri made it even tastier. The beef was soft and cooked evenly. We ended our lovely dinner with some deshi dudh cha. The cha was also very delicious not too sweet just right. The server guy was very polite and food was served quickly and fresh. It s sad that they are closing down next month. Hopefully they reopen elsewhere or in Mississauga.
How come a cup of tee is $3? Please explain.
Kachi Biryani is a bengali staple and one of our favourites and unfortunately this restaurant doesnt make this biryani well. Needs improvement on this dish.
We ordered fuchka, hazi biryani & borhani. The quantity is alright, but the food taste was mediocre. Service was good and the setting is nice. Recommend the owners focus on few menu items first and improve the cooking quality and then expand the menu when the business grows. Right now there are too many items for them to manage I think.
Best Mughlai paratha Authentic bangladeshi taste.Highly recommend
Great service, Owners great man .really good experience with food
Finally an actually good Bangladeshi restaurant in GTA
Best service and best quality of food must try
Excellent Bangladeshi cuisine. 10/10.
One of the best restaurant in Toronto. The various appetizer and main course dishes are prepared fresh everyday, served hot, wonderfully aromatic and robustly flavourful. Also a very good selection of dessert which have a mouthwatering taste. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting which definitely appeals to the guest who are looking to complete the eating experience in a very enjoyable way.
We tried kaliza shingara, beef tehari, chicken samosa, every item was fantastic!
I had their tea today.. it was too good.. same as Bangladesh... wish to go again
I had an amazing dining experience at Hoichoi! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and flavors that exceeded my expectations. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I cant wait to come back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend
The morog pulaw was incredible. Its tough for one person to finish the whole plate at one sitting .
Worst experience! Ordered hajir biriyani, chicken biriyani, chicken roast- all stale food and not fresh at all! Kachi tasted awful! Took 1.5 hours for food to come and that too one food at a time. We were 6 people and we got 3 people food in one shot and then waited 30-45 mins for another 3 people food to come. By the time other people food Came others finished their food. Ridiculous. Offered chai and server spilled hot coffee on us. Would give a negative star if there was any and would never ever come back! Spoke with farooq who listened to my complain only to find out he hung up the call. And apparently he is the manager . What a joke HoiChoi! Seriously get better with the service and the food you provide!
Authentic Bengali Halal food with various other cuisine under their rolls & burgers section such as poutine, quesadilla, sushi and sandwiches. This was perfect was we have some that are unfamiliar with Desi cuisine dining with us. It was great to have variety. Uncle was very nice, we ordered butter fish fry and he came out with photos taken asking if we prefer sauce on or off for our first timer. Food did take a few minutes however that assured it was to made. Parking: Located in a plaza there is a lot of available parking
Vegetarian options: Dahl puri Vegetable biryani Pani puri Aloo chop Poutine Veg tacos Veg quesadilla Begun bhaji Aloo bhaji Bhortha
Worst food! Dont come here. Spoke with the owner Farooq and told me hes more knowledgeable than me and that he was born before me jjst cause i addressed him as uncle this guy didnt even see me and decides to tell.me thjs on phone. Called tk resolve a complaint and instead got attitude from owner. Imagine how the resturant service will be if the manager decided to talk like this. On top of it food suck! All stale food, can barely find meat, spilled hot cha on our little kids ,brings food 1.5 later after ordering. Told mr farooq to watch camera before calling me but he chose not to. Worst place. Dont waste your money on stale food. Disgusting
Visited the place recently and tried their snack items. The food was good specially the deshi chaa.
Delicious food and service! My friends and I have been 4 or 5 times already. The owner is so nice and hospitable. We love the fusion cuisine that hits your craving whether its western or desi food. We have tried the beef Haleem, jalmuri, piajus, kolija shingara, alo chop, salmon sushi rolls, Tandoori ginger chicken Tikka, and karak chais. We always left satisfied! The menu is different from other bangali restaurants in Scarborough for sure! Thank you Hoi Choi!
Had the illish, prawn and chicken curry tonight, starting from their reception, it was a very pleasant experience. Portion sizes were too big and it tasted like I was back home, defo rate this as one of the best bengali places in Toronto
Not worth the money!
Worst worst worst
Good fuchka and puri.
Delicious Bengali food! And the food is halal too! Food
Very good service
Excellent food.
If you want authentic traditional Bangladeshi food you cannot go wrong with Hoichoi. Great food, great service and great environment! Makes me feel like I am in Bangladesh!
Best fuchka in all of danforth
Nice environment, food was also, there behaviour was top notch, lastly the selection of music loved it.
The service is implacable. The food is great. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. Will be back
This restaurant serves modern Bangladeshi food. The piyaju and fuchka was amazing! We also had jhura mangsho and garlic naan which were very good. Definitely a place to try!
This restaurant has authentic bengali food. The fuchka was amazing, all the food was very fresh and flavourful. The piyaju hit the spot! Definitely coming here when I have cravings.
Good food good environment
Bal er restaurant. Worst food ever. Broken plate
Absolutely amazing Bengali food.
The Shrimp dopiyaza here was amazing and the portions were very generous.
Delicious food and great customer service!
Great food, wonderful customer service!
The food was really good. Big portions and authentic Bengali taste. The servers are also very attentive and always make sure you have everything you need. Good spot for dinner in the area.
Taste is fantastic and authentic
Good
Ordered rice and tea from uber eats. Tea wasn t sealed properly and there was no cup holder. Tea leaked that damaged the paper bag. I had no clue. I picked up the order from the door and while carrying it the entire order fell on the stairs.
Very tasty very friendly a spot to must try if you like traditional bengali food.
We ordered Mughlai and Shigara. The taste was good. The stuff were friendly. The restaurant was clean.
Food is decent I ordered the mutton biriyani and it was good but it s not worth 28 dollars for it s quantity and the fish was ok but not like restaurant quality. If the pricing was better and quality of food it would be 5 starts
The food was spectacular even the water was great! Beautiful presentation, I didnt try all the food on the menu yet but the food I got was amazing! Definitely go there
I came back after having good food last time. They changed chef, I felt I wasted the money today, never again. The beef had absolutely no taste, I cook much better. The quantity doesnt serve one person. Food
Darun Bengali food...
The food here wasn t bad, but some of the stuff didn t taste right. The poutine was phenomenal, loaded with gravy and the cheese curds were melted so nicely. Best poutine I ve ever had. The roast was a strange colour and little bit too salty, and so was the beef rezala. Their pulao was really fragrant and tasty as well. However, the customer service here is absolutely amazing. The server was very helpful, enthusiastic and polite, and tried their best to make our experience better. They gave us free milkshakes at the end that were absolutely delicious and the staff were all amazing!!
Ordered some basic snacks but it took too long . I mean, just too long to get my food . .. its very disappointing and Im disappointed.. took 20 minutes for just few shingara and alur chops
Totally disappointed coz ordered only few things.I had to wait 25 minutes for the order and their response was too bad.
Great food, good quality and unique offerings. Owner Farooq bhai was an amazing host and food quantity was honestly a lot
The food was really delicious and customer service was great. I recommend to order specially mughlai Paratha thats the best dish of here.
Taste like homely cooked food. Very tasty
Very bad customer service, taking too long to serve food , she was making confused while taking order ,we asked for plates ,glass water . Disappointed .
Ive been here many times and the food has always been very good. Goat haleem is tasty.
Excellent restaurant! Absolutely delicious food, big portions, fair prices, highly recommend!
Very happy with the service at this restaurant! Our whole group ate to their heart s content. The owner and servers were excellent, thank you head chef and owner Faruque bhaiya, Papon bhaiya & Jubair bhaiya.
The food was absolutely delicious! Tasted like authentic bangla food, everything was served fresh and the service was top notch. Our server Papon bhaiya was very accommodating. The head chef Faruk bhai and his cook Zubayer bhai were fantastic as well. None of them rushed us. We went there a little late so it was 15mins past the closing time when we were done, but they were extremely polite and welcoming. I have to say this was the best bangla food I have had in Toronto! Highly recommend.
Kid-friendliness: p stair. if you with your kids you can enjoy sports friendly room.no need reservation. Food
Worst beaf Khichuri Ive ever eaten in my life. Costly and doesnt taste good! This is no way near beaf khichuri. Please improve the quality of food!
Borhani lacked mint taste, mango lassi lacked mango taste, first time i ordered halim the goat tasted rotten and had a foul odour. Even the polao rice was not cooked thoroughly and hard. Shrimp malai curry was burnt and the shrimp lacked the springiness of fresh shrimp. The one and only good item was the shrimp bhorta. Staff was very friendly that was the only saving grace, at least they offered us free chai. Desperately need to change the chef. Ruined our father s day coming here.
I just had mutton kacchi last week. I can assure you guys that you will find Sultan s Dine, Kacchi Vai, Kacchi express, Nobab and all the famous restaurants in one place at Hoi Choi.
Food was really good. Affordable prices. The staff were very nice.
Very tasty food, great customer service and such a beautiful homey feel. I would definitely come again!
Nice place, good varieties of foods.
We wanted to try this restaurant as its new but we were very disappointed with the food. The shrimp tempura they said were 8 pieces, but it had 4 pieces of vege. The naan was the smallest naan I have ever had and felt like it was either made a long time ago and heated up or store bought. The chicken curry was super spicy, and it didnt taste that good either. The roast we took was super spicy (which is not normal) and it didnt taste that good either.
The food and service are amazing. Tried some items, all of them really taste delicious and flavorful. Will go back for sure.
Excellent food, awesome service. Very great experience. Best Bengali kitchen.
Best Bangladeshi restaurant. Owner is the nicest man and good chef
I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The service was lacking, with our server being not attentive and lacking knowledge about the menu. She lacked customer service skills as well. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the tables were not cleaned promptly either. As for the food, we tried the chicken teriyaki and haleem, both of which were disappointingly average in taste. The only positive aspect was the restaurants decor, which was well done. However, throughout our meal, there was a persistent presence of flies, which greatly distracted us from our dining experience. Overall, I was unimpressed with the quality of both the service and the food. I had better expectations. Given the availability of better Bangladeshi food elsewhere, I wont be returning anytime soon.
I dined in with my extended family and we spent a generous amount. The owner seemed genuine and that he was really trying hard. Regretfully, the food quality and taste were sub-par at best. We ordered an array of Bengali dishes. Chicken roast tasted nothing like what authentic Bengali chicken roast is supposed to taste like (unusually hot and lacked the hints of sweetness one would usually expect). Hajir biriyani was very disappointing and tasted almost identical to the tehari. Service was sub-par and very slow as well. There is a lot of room for improvement for this business, considering the established presence of competitors in the marketplace of Bengali restaurants in Scarborough.
Food was really good - no complaints in that department. But the service definitely needs improvement. - there s at least 3 people working when we were there and no one was out in the dining area to take care of the customers - we heard shouting from the kitchen, like someone was scolding someone else, and that felt awkward for the diners - food came late but could be overlooked because it was good - they served us one main item and had to double check if we had ordered anything else as if they had forgotten about it - we ordered an appetizer that came after the main and we had to pack it home If the service improves, I think this place would thrive given the actual food is really good
The total price of the meal was 60.79 but the service and food was not worth it. Straight terrible. I ordered the food at 10:20 PM and received it at 11:00 PM.( They even not letting us know that the preparing time is bit long) The first items that arrived were gurur jhura and bhuri without rice. After 10 minutes, they brought the rice, then the daal, and finally the bhorta, ( Does that make any sense to give bhorta at the last)? by which time we had already eaten half of the food. Additionally, there was no fresh jar of water or glasses on the table. And when I asked for glasses the girl on the front asked oh, you need glass? Yet she was seeing that there are no glasses on the table. Except for the daal, every dish was undersalted, and the rice was quite hard to eat. Im very disappointed with the terrible service from Hoichoi. I am giving a rating of 0 stars.
Amazing Food, Great Owner
We ordered takeout from Hoi Choi and it was simply delicious. The food was hot and fresh and full of flavours. We throughly enjoyed Biryani and Murgir jhol (chicken curry). Best part is that kids loved it too! Its one of our favorite places now. I would definitely recommend to give it a try if you are looking for authentic cuisine.
Poor food quality I have ever had, I had iftar platter and it was the worst quality . Also my friend had borhani which had no taste at all. Don t waste your money.
good food,i try the haji biriyan (goat)
Excellent food and service.Tried Beef kacchi biriani. Liked it. Will buy again.
Good food, good environment, friendly service.
Delicious food and great service! I went with some friends and we tried the aloo chop, samosa, fuchka, chicken biryani and cha. All were delicious but I highly recommend the fuchka and chicken biryani which were made in classic Bangali style. Friendly service from the shop owner who was giving us great recommendations and went out of his way to make our experience wonderful. Highly recommend!
Heard about this new Bangladeshi spot & went with a few friends to try during a late night hangout. The fuchka was amazing, very typical Bangali style with the tart tamarind sauce and boiled egg topping. We got the aloo chop and samosas to try chop was crispy on the outside and nice fluffy potato on the inside. If youre not a fan of beef liver, I would advise against the samosa, we enjoyed it seeing as its a Bangladeshi staple. The chicken biryani was also authentic, nicely spiced and tender fall-off-the-bone chicken. We got jelapi and cha (tea) to end off the night and will say, both tasted just like home. The gentleman serving us was also kind and efficient, overall a good experience. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian snack foods available Dietary restrictions: Halal
Great place. Warm and welcoming staff. Great food. Good for large groups and if you want to eat sharing style. Defenitlly coming back here.
We went for some tea and we had the best experience. The owner was so kind and generous and made us a delicious tea. We will definitely be coming back to try some more food. It s a new business but the prices are great and would highly recommend if anyone is looking for some great food!
One of the best Bengali places I ve been to in a while. The owner of the restaurant was one of the nicest people. I went in wanting some tea but I don t like the taste of cardamom, he made it for me without the cardamom. He was a very kind human being and a great conversationalist. His tea was great, I would ve gone back for a second cup but it was closing. I can t wait to try the new items on his menu. Anyone that s in the area should visit this place. It s new but it s already my favourite in the plaza and I ve tried all the other places. This is number 1. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great place to eat and exceptional service. Will keep visiting!
10/10 food quality and taste
Food is really good. Restaurant owner and stuffs are very nice. I already went there couple of times and experience is good. Hope they will maintain their quality. One thing to mention Iftari platter was really good.
Ma Shaa Allah theyve excellent customer service!
We ordered kolija shingara, piyaju and cha. Kolija singara was big in size. We took 2, one was filled with potatoes mainly, another one had good amount of kolijas in it. Piyaju also big in size but doesnt taste like piyaju to me. Cha wasnt good in taste at all. Very basic.
Delicious Indian and Bengali dishes.Fantastic service! All the Avi Datta
Hello guys .. this is one of the newest hotel in town.. everyone should visit and spend time with family .. I know the owner for years. I was there at the grand opening Amazing place and amazing food Thanks to Faroque bhai Hira Scarborough
Went to HoiChoi with a couple of friends and the food was amazing!!! They have so many options on their menu and the service was great. Will definitely be coming back here soon. Such a great addition to the plaza.
I came here on the opening day and got the Mutton Biriyani and the Garlic Naan and I loved it! The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend this spot for anyone who s interested in Bengali food.
If you want good food for a good price, come to Hoi Choi. Delicious and located in a good area. Service is great. You ve got to check it out!
This place is such a hidden gem
Good service from Karim who was so polite and courteous. Loved the food. We had piyaju, kolija shingara, mughlai porota, cha. Haleem was bomb, amazing. Will definitely go back and try other items on the menu.
It was their 3rd day after opening. It was a nice experience. I ordered their beef haleem, chicken roast polaw and beef tehari. All of them were good and also shared some feedback with their staff . They were open to receive suggestions. Wish you all the best ! Parking: Parking is good
Very good bengali food. Would definitely visit again.
They just opened. Even now they have very good food and customer service. Owner staff everyone is very polite. Decoration is amazing. Food price is very good too. Loved this place
We tried their muglai porota and really loved it. We cant wait to try other items on the menu. I had been looking for a good Bangladeshi spot for a while so glad to have found it
dont waste your time and money.
Halal Bangladeshi / bengali restaurant. Muglai porota was very good. Nice space for evening chit chat with some finger foods. Food : 4/5
Second time here in two weeks, great tasting food. Their fuchka, chotpoti, peyaju, and kolija shingara definitely sets them apart from the rest but my favourite was their mughlai. Crisp, flaky, fresh with generous amount of egg. The chutneys that came with the snacks were quite balanced tasting too. The place is super clean and service excellent. Had a great conversation with the owner and he seems to know his recipes quite well. Also, they gave us complementary sweets, which they make in-house, definitely recommend. 10/10
Good food and good people!
Great service and delicious food! Reminded me of home! Vegetarian options: Bengali options Parking: Plaza parking lot
One of the worst Bangladeshi resturent ever. I give them 6 month and they will be out of business. There is no way they can compete with other Bangladeshi resturent in Toronto. Their food is Garbage and they are scam. They scam me when I went with my parents for iftar. They said, iftar plate is $25.00 but its actually $15.00 according to Facebook. These guys are not HONEST and food is horrible. Never go there. Can you belive they scam you On iftar. You need help from God when you open new business but God will never help unethical business
