Ate here and got sick, and the worst part is the hair in my food( I hope it wasnt a pubes)...my friend Ali had the falafel and said the salt almost killed him. If there was a negative star this would help.i recently went back and its just gone downhill. They were touching my food bare hands, im going to call the health department!!! ITS GONE FROM BAD TO WORSE!!!

I just came back from Johnny shawarma for their Christmas special. By far one of the most tasteful shawarmas in the city. The toom garlic sauce is all that plus more ! Great family-run business with the two daughters and son and father. Very wholesome. I will be visiting again

Used to be really REALLY good. Now with the sudden opening of so many shawarma places in scarborough, this will be my last thought. Decided to give it another shot the other day for a quick meal with my kidm Looked real good when worker was making it. Ate into it and it was tasteless. Wasnt bad. But no real flavour. Basic at best. Def wont be my first choice of shawarma and out of respect i wont name the other places. My son didnt enjoy it sadly. Prior to 2018/2019 this place was legit. Not sure what happened. And btw 2.99 for A bottle of water is robbery, inflation or not. Good luck in the future Johnnys Shawarma!

Ordered 4 mixed (chicken & beef) shawarmas for lunch with my family. The shawarmas are full of flavor and nicely balanced. Definitely recommend this place for lunch, can t wait to try the other items on the menu.

I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap and the zataar & cheese pizza. Both really tasty! Definitely my go-to local spot for shawarma. The staff are always really friendly too and they have a nice rewards program.

The mixed shawarma plate is complete and the portion is just right for this style of food. The protein isnt dry and is well-seasoned ! The chicken was especially impressive. They also dress the plate nicely and I find the salad and pickled vegetables are fresh (firm and fragrant). This place actually includes a good garlic sauce, and two starches. The service was great and the restaurant itself was kept clean (kitchen area, seating and floors). My only dissapointment is that the chicken kebab wrap had chicken that was burnt. When we reheated the leftovers the next day the burnt parts were substantial and tasted bad, we needed to remove a lot from the wrap.

What a wonderful place! It is very inviting, and the food is amazing we came across this place working in the area, and its been our go too ever since! Johnny, the owner, is just a great soul I see why the food is amazing it is made with so much love and the vibes around give it an extra kick! Great place

Really nice spot! The foods fresh, tasty and actually a pleasant place we found today. Shawarma was on point, the garlic sauce was consistent, tabbouleh were usually disappointed with most middle eastern restaurants but not Johnnys. The owners very friendly and we can tell he puts his all in the food. Will definitely visit again!

We saw this place in a video on Blog TO, so we drove through surprisingly heavy traffic today from our place in Newmarket to Johnnys. 48 km each way The place is clean, mostly new and modern although there were glimpses of whatever store was there before. Prices and portions were quite reasonable, competitive to other shawarma stores. Service was friendly, although the way they make their shawarma is time consuming. God forbid if they had a lineup. My wife had a fallofal which she found tasty. Unfortunately a few hours later she had an upset stomach, which might or might not be because of the food. I had a chicken shawarma. Good portion, fresh, totally, completely tasteless. Nothing. And stingy. A tiny scattering of lettuce, a bit of tomato, and a sliver of pickle. There was cucumber on the counter, which I was refused as its part of a salad dish. Cmon. 2 slices of cucumber is gonna break you? My wife also asked for 2 ingedients( I forget what, but common) and was turned down as they also were for the salad. The decor, cash register, and computer technology was well thought out and up to date, but my shawarma was extremely dissapointing. We love to go on drives to find out of the way non-chain eateries, so 50km is not too far for us. Unfortunately the food was so bland. Would I go back? First time here today! People working here is ok but at 1:15pm they are making shawarma with yesterday s leftovers meat and pita bread is NOT acceptable! Iceburge lettuce was from last night as well. There was only one person was eating inside. No wonder why! The owner should care about his business make sure people are happy with fresh ingredients and service with smile! Taste is ok NOT great. Never go back again as because there are so many better options in Scarborough.

Very good and solid beef shawarma. For spice they have cant go wrong cayenne. Would love if they had a spicy harissa paste or some home made spicy sauce. They have franks red hot but i like that on wings only. Or, you can do jalapenos but that again is for burritos in my books. Moving on, Beef had great flavour and good selection of toppings. Next time Ill ask for a bit of well done beef off the pit. Fries were really good. The owner spoke about how he doesnt oil up his pita and put it on the grill like other places since its unhealthy (he uses a press machine to give the pita the crunch... however, i recommend that he should offer the grill option for the pita bread like other places - leave it to clients to decide! Overall, this is a great place worth return visits. Just get better hot sauce and grill option for thr pita!

My first experience here today is fabulous! Johnny s very friendly and the beef shawarma I had was delicious and big portion of beef, loved it!

Ordered it on a whim through Uber Eats and it exceeded expectations. The food was incredibly flavourful and fresh. The vegetarian platter was delicious for the vegetarians and the shawarma was perfect for the meat eaters in the family. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

We ordered chicken shawarma plates from Uber eats. Added a note requesting some switches and we were so happy to receive the order with our customizations. We have ordered multiple times from this place and the plates have always been tasty. The portions are huge and pretty filling! Shawarma are a generous size and great price however as many of the reviews indicate, they re way too dry. There was hardly any garlic paste or tahina. They apply it on the bread not the stuffing. So the meat had hardly any taste and it leaked out to the paper which sticks to the food and ends up in my mouth... They should probably change the paper. They could should give more garlic paste and or tahina to give it moisture and flavour. We will tell them next time. Otherwise I will deduct a star. Pickled turnips are delicious and again could be more

I dont usually post reviews but this place is worth the minute to write about! Meat quality is superb, portion is great and spice did not overwhelm the taste of the meat. Hands down on this being one of the better shawarma places in Toronto.

Food is general is pretty decent. Their falafel is super salty and a bit dry in the middle and made us bloated, might be the type of oil the used or some spices. Overall their food flavour is good.

The food is consistent and you get value for what you pay for. I usually get the mixed veg dinner plate and it never disappoints (bonus the garlic sauce is dairy and egg free). Their falafels are unique (in a good way) and the rice comes with lentils. My other half gets the beef platter and he always comments on the generous portions. The gentleman whose name is Andy is an awesome person. Super friendly, and makes a mean chicken shawarma. Best I ve had in the city. He recommended me to try an Americano (black) and let me tell you, it was a life-altering experience. Best coffee I ve ever had. Everyone should come and try this restaurant, and Andy will take good care of you. 11/10 would come again.

Ive been enjoying Johnnys Shawarma since 2007 when I worked at the gym. Anytime Im in the neighborhood I pop in for a bite. My wife and I ordered food to feed a group of 10 people and everyone enjoyed it.

Johnny s catered our daughter s bridal shower last weekend. The food presentation and packaging was incredibly professional and thoughtful. All food was clearly labelled and we were able to easily serve it right out of their containers. Gotta love when you don t have to use extra dishes! Guests loved the food and there was enough for seconds and thirds and then some! We can t say enough about how delicious everything was! We got so many compliments about the food. Had high expectations based on the reviews but the chicken shawarma was disappointing. The wrap was cold, chicken was flavourless, and it lacked seasoning/sauce.

I decided to check Johnnys out based on the reviews and was thoroughly disappointed. One of the most mediocre and bland shawarma that Ive ever had. The chicken was dry, the hummus and spicy garlic sauce were sub-par. Its not authentic at all. The spicy garlic had just store bought chilli flakes in it. Thats not how actual spicy garlic is made. The rice had no flavor too. There are better places to try in Scarborough rather than this place. For $18, the dinner plate quantity was compromised too. Might have been better to take a wrap instead. Go to Sumaq Iraqi Grill instead. Their shawarma has flavor and better quantity for the price. Edit: As I kept eating, I found that the rice and the lentils added to the rice were not thoroughly cooked either. I had too many grains of undercooked food in there. Please, do not spend your money here, or take the risk using your own courage. This is so sad that nearly $20 worth of food gets you this subpar level of food in these times.

I was waiting an hour to pick up an order in this restaurant. Specially, the older guy is the one who get things bad and delayed. He looks as he is working to loose and disapointing customers. There was lots of customers in line. But,he works very slowly,very clumsy and carelessly about customers standing to pick up order. If the restaurant has good mngt.. this person should be fired before lots of complains coming

Im fairly new to Toronto But so far this has been the best shawarma I had in GTA. Tried both beef and chicken, both were good. Although I liked beef better.

Great shawarmas. Price is probably one of the cheapest as well. The food was great, the meat juicy and the vegetables fresh. Every ingredient is made in-house including the pitas. Portions were excellent. Service was very friendly and on point, store is clean.

I missed going to Johnnys Shawarma so it was one of the first places I stopped when back on Toronto , and then Scarborough for a visit for the first time in 10 years. Ive been going to Johnnys since he opened 20+ yrs ago when we both started businesses in the area. Still the same amazing Shawarma and food! Have sent many, many people his way. Johnny it was amazing seeing you, and the food was amazing as always.

Went there last night with a friend and had the best middle eastern food I ve ever had. For context I love middle eastern food and always seek it out whenever I can and after trying dozens of spots in the GTA I can confidently say this is the best. Get the mixed platter as it will give you a taste of everything, and the samosas are great too. Service was quick and friendly, they even threw in a free baklava. Definitely will be coming back next time I m in Scarborough.

We got the chicken shawarma and mixed platter. Both were delicious. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. Both dishes were very filling. They even have a loyalty rewards programs that lets you collect points with every purchase. The staff are friendly as well. The chicken shawarma filling was generous. The shawarma meat was way too dry, I think this was the worst shawarma I ever had in Toronto. The pickles were too salty as well, so I threw all of them. Very disappointed as I thought the food will be good as the rating is so high.

Really loved the shawarma of this place. I had spicy chicken without tomato in it and my friends tried beef spicy. We all loved how the shawarma tasted. Do try out their zatar and cheese too. Staffs were friendly and sang happy birthday for my brother as well.

Super good chicken and beef shawarma, lovely staff, and a decent 2 shawarma special!

Was looking forward to try this place. The portion size was way too small and not worth the price.

I tried to eat it all. I really did. It was a huge portion and, as delicious as it was, I took half home. It was my first time here and I ordered the chicken/beef plate. The food, pop, and tip amounted to less than $20 after tax. The meat was flavourful, the tabbouleh was lemony and fresh, and the dips were authentic and home made. You wont go hungry here. I listened to the owner chatting with customers and then joined in, learning a little about the history and geography of the middle east. Hes a friendly fellow, full of positivity. Ill go back here and take my Syrian friend because I think its good enough to impress him as well.

The service was garbage. The server was rude and they charge you for adding olives and vegetables to your plate when Im already paying 18 DOLLARS for their plate. Obscenely expensive. The meat was dry too, no juiciness at all. But even if their food was great, I will never come again due to their rude servers. *Bad service *Bad food *Extremely overpriced Please find another shawarma joint.

I went here for the first time and ordered the chicken shawarma plate. It was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how big their portion was when it comes to the protein. The service was also fast and they were friendly. Would definitely come again.

Honestly, the chicken shawarma was subpar. Couldn t really taste any flavour from the chicken. Haven t tried the beef but I d suspect it to be the same. I give it a 4/10. Much better places in scarbs

My favorite shawarma shop. When they say you ll be addicted they aren t lying. I come here often after work to grab a shawarma wrap or the occasional shawarma plate. Both are incredible and authentic but I prefer the wraps as every bite is an explosion of rich flavors. The spicy garlic and homemade hot sauce is fantastic. Out of all the places I ve had shawarma, nothing beats Johnnys quality, prices and friendly service. Even if my work moves their shop away from this area I would still make a point to stop by here on my way home
