We are a family owned & operated restaurant known for affordable / savoury dishes. Our goal is to make Filipino cuisine famous and mainstream.
Ordered via uber eats app. Sisig - quantity was not satisfactory, garlic fried rice - didnt taste like garlic at all, crispy squid - vinegar spilled all over. Improper packaging of the sauces. Not buying again
Great food and service!! Love ordering the crispy fried chicken with sweet sauce on the side for family events. Always fresh, highly recommend 😸😸
I was really excited to try Dinakdakan, but unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. The smell was off-putting, and it tasted like it wasn’t cooked properl(lasang panis). I’ve had some delicious versions before, but this one missed the mark entirely. On the bright side, I loved the fried squid; it was crispy and flavorful! But as much as I enjoy that, my favorite will always be Dinakdakan, and I was hoping for a better experience. I hope the kitchen can improve it in the future!
We drove to Toronto from Michigan, USA for our family trip and I was craving for Filipino food. Kuya Joe didn’t disappoint me. Everything was excellent especially the food. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who is in Toronto and for those travelling to Toronto. This place is a food haven for Filipino food and deserts. Thumbs up 👍👏👍👏
Located in a corner in a plaza, Kuya Joe's is a very unassuming spot that serves a lot of Filipino plates. Now I can only rate the one dish I had at this place which is the taho, a Filipino tofu dessert. It was one of the better places that make this dessert. The syrup was sweet enough and the tofu was very silky and smooth. It runs about $6 a cup but it's actually quite filling. I will definitely be back to try the main dishes!
My husband and I just stopped in for a late Sunday brunch, and are so happy we did! We both ordered the Tocilog, which was made fresh to order & absolutely delicious - my husband said it is the closest he’s ever had to his mom’s famous tocino. The egg yolk was perfectly tender (not runny, just soft) which I love! The portions were very generous & affordable, and the service was so lovely! The young woman at the cash register & bringing out orders was so sweet. The ensaymadas looked so delicious & fluffy - I wish I got some! 5 star experience, we will definitely be back! 🫶🏼
Very underrated restaurant that offers a wide variety of delicious Filipino dishes. Restaurant has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I always come here to order the Laing and Igado cuz I can't find it elsewhere, and tastes just like the ilocano one I have back at home. A little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, portions are packed. Great restaurant!
If you like sisig "DONT" buy it here. This one is full of oil and ginger. Texture is very mushy. The meat is not even tasty. You got lemon instead of calamansi. More expensive than the bella's lechon which is way way better when it comes to taste and texture. I have eaten so much sisig in my life from philipines but this is the first time i lost my appetite to it. Total waste of money. Miki has not much of vegetable on it. Im not a noodle man but the wife dont like it. This one dont even deserve a star. I order this in uber.
Wooooow , I ve lived in Toronto for all the years of my life and this is the best Filipino place I ve been to . That kare kare sauce is amazing
First time to order, uber eats.. $14 full of onions..is not even real ilocano, so small. I ordered kare kare, $30 too small portion. My $117 was not worth it, garlic rice is not even garlic.. not even 1 garlic in eat. I was so disappointed. Portion for $30 , the $17 tapsilog not even worth it tapa is so hard to bite, it taste old. NEVER AGAIN. Don t be stingy.. Ilocano is not kuripot.. i hope you are not ilocano.. Make it sure next time it will be worth it -I ordered 5 differwnt diahes not worth it
I ve had this place every week. The food is a reasonable price for the portion and quality. This food here is so yummy and delicious!! I ve had it dine in, takeout and on uber eats all have been an amazing experience. Please come here, I guarantee it will be amazing!! Food
Food is out of this world. All freshly cooked when you order, nothing sitting around. Clean fresh taste authentic Filipino. Come here every time I m in Toronto(couple times a year). If you don t eat here you truly are missing out.
Kudos to the chef! The food was excellent. Everything we ate was scrumptious. Will definitely be back - worth the drive from Detroit, Michigan.
Delicious Filipino! Got the pancit & sisig and it was great. Definitely will be ordering from here again. Salamat po Kuya Joe!
Highly recommended for Filipino food cravings specially the pork bbq
The best place I have tasted Filipino cuisine
Food is exceptional esp.the crispy chicken & pansit. Ordered the Pares-pares the first time & it was very delicious & affordable. For only $13.50, you get 2 sunny side up fried eggs, rice, meat & pop. Yummy! Go try it! Food
Small business that serves delicious Filipino foods. Very generous serving sizes.
Their beef pares is incredibly delicious, and the boneless chicken with their savory gravy creates a perfect combination. A must-try!
The food is so delicious. It served freshly cook Highly recommended
We liked the ambiance as you would really feel like you re in a Pinoy Karinderya. They were also playing Pinoy pop and R&B music. Their crispy pata was ok. Skin was crunchy but the meat was lacking tenderness. We loved the fried squid because of the breading and also it was tender and tasty! I asked the young lady server if it a a family-ran business and she confirmed it. I really sensed the family vibe working together to make the resto well-run. She is used opo and po , (with her English sentences), while communicating, which made it a special experience because the Pinoy respectful culture is still there! Give it a try Vegetarian options: They have veggie options Parking: There were enough spots
I bought Karekare yesterday yes it tastes good but the oxtail are very hard and seems old stock. I ordered this with tuwalya but they didnt put this. The bopis definitely garbage. I tried this place for our upcoming gathering but definitely di na ako uulit dito.
Taste was good but portion is too small for price
Ordered miki here through UberEats and i got sent just broth with few pieces of pork, nothing else. Ridiculous. And I did not get all my money back!
saw this place on instagram, brought my Filipino parents here and they loved it! Crispy chicken w/ gravy was pretty good. They have soup options as well, I ordered the sinigang Bangus and miki noodles and it was well worth the price and portion! Will come back. + very friendly staff + cool atmosphere + tons of different dishes I have yet to try
i have tried EVERYTHING from the best selling section and i have not been disappointed since. i ve started going here daily to try out the other dishes. being a picky eater, i hated trying new foods, but this restaurant has changed things for me. i LOVE the food here, it s always cooked to perfection and the portions are just right. i have never been disappointed in any dish i ve tried from here. you should definitely give this restaurant a try if you haven t already. i m always greeted with friendly faces and open arms. definitely a golden restaurant that should be given more publicity.
Amazing food! I love Filipino food, but this place is another level!! It was so good. The Kare-Kare and Sisig were to die for! And the service was amazing, everyone was so sweet. Definitely coming back again soon.
Amazing food, amazing service, would definitely recommend to others, and would go out of my way to come again Parking: Not hard to find parking
Amazing. The value of what you taste is beyond the price you pay. You can taste the passion.
best isaw in the world!
Best KareKare Ive ever had - just like how my lola used to make it! Put it on garlic rice, you wont regret it! A hidden neighbourhood gem! Too bad they dont have a large dining area.
First time ordering from here through Uber eats and so thrilled at how good the food was. We will definitely be ordering here again in the future. Daing na bangus was large portion, chicken bbq was fresh, and the boneless chicken on garlic rice was great!
Kuya Joes is phenomal.Josh is wonderful, professional and courteous.Number 1 recommended by ALL UBER DRIVERS AND CANADIANS
Food is alright. I can say that I may recommend them. But just so you know they do not have a washroom which is a BIG NO NO for a business. To the management, you should know that restaurants are not allowed to have NO WASHROOM because that is part of the rules/protocol in Toronto. Trust me, if an inspector knows about this, you might get shut down. That is bawal to have no washroom in an establishment. You can even ask other people to confirm. We just really felt uncomfortable that we cannot use the washroom after staying there for almost 2hrs. Disappointing.
Sorry. Sisig is pure garbage - soaked in oil. You thought it was rice porridge in oil. Dinakdakan tasted nothing, no seasoning at all. I guess both are already ugly for the third time. 2 stars because the shanghai was good and fresh. Cannot support small businesses like this.
Price is fair for what you get and the foods delicious! I ordered sisig, Ensaymada and bbq. order again
Ordered for the first time and wasn t expecting much but man the food was tasty and service was good. I really liked the Royal bibingka! I Have yet to try their other meals!
Ordered Pork Isaw ($4/stick) and Laing ($18). I wanted to like it, but in terms of flavour, it was lacking and bland. The taro leaves wasn t cooked properly and that gave the dish a weird paper-like texture. The pork isaw wasn t cooked well too. I hope they boiled and grilled it a little longer. Lastly, I think they re overpriced too. I could order somewhere else - same dish, same serving size, but much tastier. Just being honest.
I have thoroughly enjoyed everything weve ordered from here so far. The staff is super friendly.
we came from Ottawa and was looking for a good filipino food. my family were all sisig fans and their sisig is one of the best that we had. the dinakdakan is also for the win. the person in the front are really helpful when you are order as he will assist you. Salamat po.
Always good food!!
Last wk I ordered Laing and Pork isaw. It was sooo delicious. I really liked it.
With the time frame and price, food should be freshly cooked especially vegetables like pakbet! Come on kabayan make our money worth!
Great awesome food/staff squid tentacles my favorite got to try you wont be disappointed cheers
Pancit and Igado was good Bopis needed vinegar Garlic fried rice would have been healthier if they used parboiled Chilli oil very spicy Dinuguan was salty had to add vinegar Not wheelchair accessible
Ensaymada is so good. Easily one of the best I ve ever had. Compared to others, it is definitely prepared special. Crispy pata is crispy and the palabok is classically good
Yes, the prices aren t cheap but you get what you pay for. All the dishes are made to order fresh & full of flavour. Definitely the best Filipino take out in Toronto, I ve ordered several times for my very picky Filipino dad and he s been happy with everytime. Highly recommend the crispy pata, kare kare & pancit.
Best food, not so greasy the quantity is excellent and the quality is too awesome love this place everyone should visit here.. the employees are really nice , humble and welcoming do visit
Not your typical Filipino restaurant where you point at a particular ulam (food) on the display window where they are on warmers. And you don t know if those are repeats from the previous day. At Kuya Joe s, your order is always FRESHLY COOKED! I am particularly impressed by their Crispy Chicken, it lives up to its name until the next day (not refrigerated though) - it s still freakin crunchy! You cook fried chicken?! Well, I bet you don t cook Kare-kare, Sisig, or Dinakdakan each time you re craving for them coz they entail so much work. Leave the cooking to Kuya Joe! Ever think of a to go dish that you can munch on while driving (home)? Try their Deep Fried Calamari, and if you dare to live on the wild side - get the tentacles! Speaking of wild side, try their Kilawen nga Kalding (kambing/goat). And for those die hard Pinoy foodie like me, they have all day breakfast and the Beef Pares with Rice (for Filipinos rice is life) is a must try. Ask for their Ensaymada Special or Bibingka (like the famous one in Vigan, I swear!) If you are a sinukaan (fruits picked in vinegar) lover, befriend Kuya Joe s better half. She might let you try her atchara (papaya or singkamas, or both).
Not sure why the staff is pretending as Kuya joe on the phone when ordering. Had a nice chat with Kuya Joe ( not sure if he is) then we agreed on in a certain price, then when pick up time , price is $5 more! They said their chef is not aware of the new prices.. still had to pay the higher price. I m confused.?? Who is the real Kuya Joe?
A hidden gem.
One of the best Filipino restaurants in Scarborough
Miki Ramen special is yummy
Great food, served hot and fresh
Taste good but little on the pricey side.
Nice place to eat n greet
Randomly ordered from this place (have not heard of it before) through Uber Eats. Placed the order at around 10:45am so I wasnt sure they would come through as they are far. Order arrived piping hot at our downtown place before noon! Awesome. And lets talk about the food. The best kare kare! Creamy, rich, full of veggies...wow. Impressed my Colombian bf because we had really really REALLY bad kare kare twice during a trip to the Philippines . Also ordered dinakdakan which I have never heard of but wow! Rich and flavourful. Looking forward to the other dishes. The only downside were the black take away containers which are not recyclable. But this place is 11 out of 10.
Prices seemed kinda pricey as the mini-tray was typical chinese-takeout sized but they filled it to the brim, and the kare kare meat was soooooo soft and tender that it s totally worth it for $20 (especially as Max s nearby is $23.99). Generous portion of shrimp paste too.
Family owned resto with traditional filipino dishes. Every item on the menu was utterly delicious, savoury and cooked to perfection! The meat was melt-in-your-mouth awesome. Sure the bbq on a stick from seafood city is good but have you tried the ones from Kuya Joe s? It s like on a whole other level of greatness! Flawlessly seasoned and marinated, even the isaw was pure perfection And for those who always leave room for dessert like me, the ensaymada was like a cloud of fluffy sweetness, the taho was so reminiscent of the ones they sell back home and so is their suman, bibinka and halo-halo. If it were only up to me, I would give them a Michelin Star But don t take my word for it, go try for yourselves! I wish I could eat here every chance I get but I d have to drive 5 hrs from home (Montreal). My mouth is watering just thinking about their kare kare So those of you who aren t too far, go try them! I promise you will savour each and every bite of whatever you decide to order
I bought everything on the menu on my mother s birthday. Momma loved the food as so did everyone that ate. Their buco pandan is also a hit! Wonderful restaurant!
Bought pansit bihon yesterday and we loved it (my uncle, my husband and I). Will come back to try other food on their menu.
Arguably some of the best Filipino food in the GTA! The Sisig and Pancit were the best weve had!
Delicious, Good portions, Fresh, Authentic. Definitely coming back to try different things from here!
Great food and we highly recommend. Must try
Found this by uber eats!. Love the presentation and everything dont care if its pricey these foods are amazing!!
Price is not worth the quantity. Ordered calamari rings , mentioned in their menu that its good for 6-10 persons. But not even enough for 5 people. Disappointed though. Will not order again.
Really good food! Love the pandan knuckles!
Affordable and delicious food. Freshly cooked as you order. Call ahead to order and schedule a pick up. The desserts are a must try!
If you love filipino food... especially affordable authentic filipino food, Kuya Joes is a must try. They offer filipino favourites like kare kare, crispy pata, bbq, and many more. Their food is always fresh, spot on, and the customer service is superb. Personally, I highly recommend the palabok, crispy squid, and calamari rings!
I love the food at Kuya Joe s Kitchen! My kids are enjoying every single bite especially the Calamari ring so yummy and the prices is very affordable. If you guys looking for Filipino food here in Canada Kuya Joe s Kitchen is the best!
Food was delicious..good quality Filipino food! Ensaymada was the best I ve had hands down! Must try!
Authentic Filipino & Ilocano Foods , certified always fresh and made with TLC . A must try !
Amazing food. I had the chicken bbq, pancit palabok, and ensaymada. You have to try it all but if you only have enough for 1 get the ensaymada and ask them to heat it up.
Food was really good!!! One of the most authentic northern Luzon cuisine Ive ever tasted in the GTA area. Our favourites are the Sinanglao, Crispy squid and Calamari. Try them out, highly recommend it. Oh and also a bonus, the customer service, to put it simply, is just great!! I was promised good food within a reasonable wait time and there it is!! Definitely going back! Thanks kuya Joe!!!
Lumpia Shanghai. 5 stars!
Awesome place! So happy they opened up nearby, got a platter of Lumpia for thanksgiving and it disappeared so quickly! Tried the kare kare and a few of the desserts, the Taho is my fave! Awesome service, wonderful staff and delicious food
