Worst Catering Experience – Extremely Disappointing! We ordered tehari, biryani, and a few other bulk trays for a special event, and it turned out to be the worst decision we’ve ever made. The quality of the food was incredibly disappointing. For example, we ordered 4 large trays of tehari, and it was basically just rice with a few tiny pieces of meat scattered throughout – far from what we expected. To make matters worse, all the food arrived cold, which completely ruined the experience for our guests. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering this place for catering. Save yourself the hassle and embarrassment – this place is not worth it!
Recently ordered food from them for a large party. The food was delicious and they delivered on time. However, quantity of one of the item was significantly less compared to the order size. Also its difficult to complain when your guests are waiting, and you don’t have any alternative at the moment. So, please be careful when catering from them! If you have 10 guests order for 20 to be safe. Though I enjoyed the meal, I am still confused if I received the food I ordered!!
First time coming here .. was suppose to dine in at premium sweet but they did not have seating available only takeout . So choose them. Restaurant was not busy when we enter .food seem to be ready at the food counter. The guy or owner was helping us. Seem watever we wanted he would recommend something else . Food was very fast coming out to the table. Seem to be microwave . Had a beef kebab which was not good ,had to return back . The other food taste wise wasn't too bad . At the end it seem to be the food price does not match the price at the wall menu every item seem to be a dollar or two more. Not sure what's going on
Had an unplanned lunch here and I must say the foods tasted like authentic Bengali cuisine and foods were so fresh and tasty. We ordered Beef Tehari and Beef Biryani to dine in and it was worthy. The owner is a gentleman and treated us well. The only little downside was they took long time like nearly 15 minutes to serve, but I think that’s alright as the food was so good. Definitely recommended Bengali restaurant.
Hands down the best kacchi biriyani in town... authentic flavored and cooked to perfection. Great portion! Keep going back for many other favorites like Perfect deshi style morog polao, Haji biriyani and many more snacks. The owners are very warm, dedicated to customer service and have always had great chats with uncle whenever I visit.
Lets support local Bangladeshi Food businesses by promoting them more on social media. We had some tasty and affordable Iftari meals this year at Star Biryani House. The owners are courteous. They maintained the place clean. I also would like to mention its a small business so dont expect royal decoration and service. The owners are trying their best and I think they are mainly focusing on the food quality which is commendable. IG: @allfoodiesnamaste
We had some delicious morog polao and Shaami Kabab from Star at a Covid wedding this Summer and have been dying to try some other things from them since as we live out of Toronto. We decided to order Polao roast and Beef Kala Bhuna on the way home yesterday. Ordering process on the phone was good and pick up was great too. Nice, polite business owner. But food majorly disappointed. Roast didn’t have the richness of a biye barir roast and lacked seasoning. It was just okay. But the Kala Bhuna was the true disappointment. It was so kala that it was inedible. Bitter to taste. Burnt onions and Teflon from the frying pan on the meat. My pictures don’t to it justice but believe me. This is a dish we always order from restaurants (shoutout to Chawk Bazar who does an amazing Kala Bhuna) so we know this is not how it’s supposed to taste. We love to support local businesses, especially deshi ones but we’re not going to make this drive out to Star again. Ps - Kalo Jaams were really yummy, bit on the pricey side though ($2/piece)
We came here for kacchi biriyani and it was really good! It also came with chicken roast and achar and the roast was extremely good! The roast gravy was really flavorful! The outside of the place looks questionable but the inside is alright. Not your fine dining or date night establishment but a place to get authentic Bangladeshi biriyani and food.
Nearly Bangladeshi style Biryani, best chicken polao in the city
Worth the price food.
I ordered the Beef Tehari for $18, but it was disappointing. There was barely 100g of beef, with only a few small pieces, while the rest was just rice. The quality felt very cheap, and it didn t meet my expectations for the price. This dish definitely needs improvement in both the portion of beef and the overall quality.
Love the food. Fresh food always. Quantity is good
Chicken momos
Went with my family. Food was excellent and service was amazing. Very welcoming place. Overall all the food was good but the morog polau chicken was my family and I s favourite! Will definitely come again
Being an almost biweekly customer on takeout, we always enjoy the tasty authentic Bangladeshi home style food, favourite of which, are the Morog Polau, Plain Polau, Beef Mezbani, Chicken Karahi, Rohu Fish, etc. We are very pleased with the overall service displaying a cozy, friendly and courteous atmosphere. The owner Mr. Mohammed Majid is very friendly, polite and accommodating. We highly recommend this place for quality Bangladeshi food.
Food is outstanding , staff is more than outstanding
Overpriced low quality food. Dont be fooled by the 5 star reviews most likely paid reviews. The guy at the cashier is very rude never coming back here.
I used to buy their soup Before it was okay day by day it s getting worst and I am so disappointed about today s purchase there was no chicken no taste no nothing in that soup. I had to throw it. Food
Star Biryani House offers a delightful dining experience with its authentic and flavorful biryanis. The aromatic spices and tender meats create a perfect balance of taste and texture, making each bite a culinary delight. The service is friendly and efficient, ensuring a pleasant visit. Whether youre a biryani enthusiast or new to the dish, Star Biryani House is a must-visit for a satisfying and memorable meal.
The best Bengali food we have had in Toronto!! The owners are truly the nicest people. Our family always gets all our special event catered from here! Best food hands down!
Best customer service. Very delicious food.
Paid $24 for really cold chicken and rice and it did not taste good at all of $24
Very good
Ive tried their food several times and have always been impressed. Their Beef Tehari is really good, and the Chicken Biriyani (Morg Polaw) is also quite tasty. The portions they serve are generous, making it perfect for catering or take-home meals. The restaurant owner, Majid Vai, is an amiable person. I highly recommend their food and service.
Their beef tehari is really good. Very friendly at the front!! Gave me some samples to try! Must Visit!
The Star biriani house food ,I just love them. Specially beef tehari, ilish polao, hajir biriani, chingri vuna, just awesome. Me and my family, and my friends everybody liked it. Their catering services are also very good. Excellent quality and quantity. I recommend everybody try their food please. Taste like home made food. Yummy
the chicken biryani is too good, take a time and visit this location, guyssss!!
Customer service really bad. They dont sell fresh food. Bought some snacks, smell like rotten food inside. I would never go to this place as they dont accept their mistake, dont apologize to customer for serving rotten food, shows attitude and dont value customers. For once, the lady in charge didnt say sorry for serving few days old smelly food. Definitely they dont maintain the standard of food safety.
Dreadful customer service. I don t know what happened since the service was somewhat good before but they barely acknowledge questions related to menu items and pricing, specifically for iftar items. This is a problem especially when the actual food items and their corresponding description and prices do not match. If you actually made it readable and placed your prices in the correct place next to the actual food items, people wouldn t have to ask!
If it isnt bad enough that the quality of their food has gone way down, the behavior of the owners is atrocious. We have been coming here for many years but today was the last day because the owners have become so sensitive and rude that they cannot tolerate even the slightest criticism. When my father brought up the fact that lately they have been very stingy with the amount of meat they give in the tehari, mind you not bringing up the fact that it also no longer even tastes good, they proceed to argue with my father and accuse him of lying. Furthermore, the customer behind us also complained stating that the last time he order biryani from them it smelled very bad, the owner proceeded to call him a liar as well. Absolutely ridiculous, if you dont want people complaining then start making food that doesnt taste and smell like garbage and learn to not be so cheap.
Very bad food and very bad service
Great food. Especially the mutton.
Best Bangladeshi food in town with excellent customer service!
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is horrible. Customer service is absolutely terrible. I asked for less spicy soup for my sick child and the man at the register was extremely rude to me, saying that I will never be satisfied with anything after I said I might not get the soup since it s spicy according to him. Left the store and got nothing at all in the end. Trash service, needs a refresher on ethics.
People are always friendly and pleasant so it pains me to say this but the food is a hit or miss. When it s a miss it tastes like old (fridge smell/freezer burned) and when it s good, it s great!
Very worst service.. I ordered plain pulao and tandoori chicken pc.they gave me white plain rice and charged me $16 cad. I cant even describe the attitude of the person in the front counter. Hes soo rude
Food is always good. Snacks too. Not really a sit down dine in place. Value for money for decent Bangladeshi food fare.
Excellent food. Excellent service. It s amazing. Please try their food. Promise you will not regret it.
The food is good but the thing that I feel disgusting about is that, they charge a 10% service fee for dining and serve food on disposable plates. Are you kidding!! Then why I am paying the service fee for? Bad Service is the only reason why Bangladeshi restaurants dont excel in Canada.
Good food
Horrible food quality. The food start to smell within 10 minutes of packing, as they use old food and no need to mention comes with free food poisoning. Regardless the time of the day foods are always poor.
Beef tehari minus the meat. Taste is mediocre. Not great/not worse. One tehari with 2 shami kabab 20$. Not worth it.
Being long time patron of this place, we recently ordered for a personal get together where guests wanted to try out authentic bengali cuisine. Thanks to your restaurant and the chef, everyone really enjoyed the dishes specially the rohu kalia and the murgir jhol . We are equally happy with the taste of the freshly made fish cutlet. A must have and highly recommended!
Purchased the tehari yesterday, kept in freezer, today the rotten smell made me to throw it in garbage!
We ordered for about 60 people. 70% people after taking their food had food poisoning.
Their beef tehari would remind you of the ones you would find in the streets of Dhaka.
Good Biriyani place
Great place serving Bangladeshi dishes. Restaurant is very clean. Tried their biryani, tandoori chicken and paratha. Bonus: They even have Bangla thai soup!
I don t usually post negative reviews, but this one made me do so. Before you visit this place, just know that it got Worst food with worstttttt service. We tried their so called biriyani, kacchi (kacchi & biriyani are 2 different items here, both are bad anyway) & hazir biriyani. Oh man, Total disgrace to Bangali food! If you mix basmati rice & 2 pieces of meat and call it a biriyani, before starting a restaurant, you need to learn actually what biriyani is, specially when you re charging 15-20 bucks for this. They charge 10% in name of service charge. I would be fine with that if the service was good, fast or the food was freshly made! Sadly, after 40 minutes of ordering, you get a plate of dry biriyani warmed in microwave for 30seconds maybe! They also charge $3 for salad (basically half tomato, one green chili & few onion slices) Now, the best(worst) part! After adding 10% service charge, they calculated the tip in the bill! If I m happy with your service, I ll tip you, you don t just include 20% tip to the bill without even asking for it. Every restaurant has a box for tip or while you pay, you add the tip %. So when we were charged more than what s expected, we asked the breakdown of the bill, and they got very offended, said it s not a good practice to ask what we re paying for. Dude, I m paying with my hard-earned money, I have all the rights to ask what Im paying for. And your restaurant is not one of those posh restaurants where customers don t ask about price. Oh, one more thing, if you visit this place, check the pricing beside the manager s counter where they can see the pricechart. The price is not updated in the dine-in area where customers sit and wait for hours. Price is for the owners only, not for the customers Lol, no wonder there was not a single customer when we visited the place.
Yesterday I took chicken Biryani from here . I purchased it 4:30 pm and I wanted to have it in the evening . The smell was like rotten food . This was my first time going there and the experience was not good at all. Even for jilapi the taste was not good. .
Definitely the worst service we have received in a Bangladeshi restaurant in Toronto. Absolutely abominable and fraudulent behaviour, along with sub-standard food. - The lady promised 10 minutes, and after 40 minutes brought a slightly microwaved Biriani that had lost its freshness maybe couple of hours ago. The food was stale and really dry, and can neverthelessly justify its price. - We asked for Chillies/ Salad, and halfway our meal they served us with a cut half-tomato and some onions in the name of Salad. Neither the lady, nor the menu mentions this is charged extra. - When we asked for bill, without any visible calculation the lady asked CAD 27, then lowered it to CAD 25 (without tax), and failed to provide a money receipt. Shortly we realized the bill should be no more than CAD 17, so we went back and asked for price breakdown, and that is followed with her heated and enraged reaction. - The lady yelled that we CANNOT ask for calculation, that we DO NOT know the manners of dining in and tipping (that she rightfully expects after super-late food serving and multiple mistakes); and yet she fails to explain how does the total comes. - Albeit beside the sitting area the price of Beef Biriani is shown CAD 12, but near the counter they revised it to CAD 14- we think its misleading and fraudulent to have separate prices within the same place. The other customers also asked them, if they revise the price they need to mention it everywhere, but that didnt stop the lady from yelling before the only two customers they had. - The lady offers our entire money back as a means of insult, yet does not show how the price comes over so much of their stated price. We think we, as customer, have every right to know the breakdown of the price. Further down, we are never going to consider/ recommend Star Biryani House as our destination for food. No point of paying hard-earned money for such fraudulent service, and sub-standard food only because they are a Bangladeshi restaurant.
No proper meat in biryani, no salad included like most restaurants do. Beef Tehari Biryani and Morog Polau (Chicken) biryani was not good at all taste wise! Looks bland and distasteful as well. Got for iftaari during Ramadan, absolutely disappointed!!
Wanted to give -1 star if I had the option. Did not even wanna give 1 star so bad food and customer service. Wanted to order chicken and biryani and they did not have that gave a replacement instead of full refund. 1-2 meat only and rest rice, rice was worst too soo bland and tasteless. The reception lady was rude too was arguing and had hard time understanding english. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT AND SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Food is tasty however, service is very bad. We went to grab quick snacks and kept waiting as it didnt look there was any cashier. There were 2 gentlemen on the table sitting. Later we got restless and started ringing the bell then one of the guy gets up and finally helps us. What a waste of time!! Like he saw us enter but kept us waiting. No apology whatsoever. My husband said never again i would rather go elsewhere and spend my money. So imporove your service. Value your customers because without them u wont have any business.
The best tehari every. 10/10 Enough quantity according to the price.
Amazing food and even better service! Probably the nicest restaurant owners I ve across in a while. Super friendly and welcoming! Had their Mutton Kachchi Biriyani for dinner today and hands down the best Kachchi in town. Highly Recommended!
I tried the best Tehari in Scarborough, and their beef tehari reminded me of the Hazi Biryani from Dhaka.
Awesome biryani! Best in Scarborough! Super sweet staff.
Naaaaaa
Horrible people running this place. Placed an order on ubereats they called and made me cancel my order cause they did not have one item, I asked them to cancel but they told me to do it. Uber charged me and on speaking with them they said I chose to cancel the store did not so I have to pay for the order even though I wont receive the order. Called the store the guy was trying to talk but a woman jumped on the phone and started yelling and hung up. There is no customer service and they are liars and thieves.
I tried the Achari Khichuri here today. Awesome ! Just loved it. Lots of beef, very nicely and softly cooked and served with mugh daal . Great combination. Will come again InshaAllah Parking: Adequate parking space in front of the restaurant.
The food is just substandard, theres 2 inches level oil floating on everything, filthy place , doesnt carry everything on the menu, and poor customer service specially the lady , very rude and defensive. Never going back.
Bought Hazi biriyani ( mutton) from this place today and not a single proper piece of meat was there.. only few shredded pieces with lots of rice. Total waste of money. They sold a bunch of biriyani rice without any single decent piece of meat for the full price!!
Great food!!
Very delicious! I have tried other Bangladeshi style restaurants in Toronto before but this is a hidden gem in Scarborough. The portion sizes for the prices are great! The spicy is absolutely fine! The food tastes as if it was made from Bangladesh. Personally I will be coming back to this place often in the future. Would highly recommend anyone who enjoys Bangladeshi food to give this place a try!
The best kala bhuna in town. Our one stop shop for Bangla food.
I tried Bengali cuisine at many places and this restaurant became my final stop. Their Beef Tehari is THE BEST and I tried beef Biryani, jalebi, chicken 65, Rohu fish curry, mutton curry, beef curry and many more and I did not found any cons taste wise or portion/size wise in any items. The services is very good and the owners are very polite.
Great place for Bangladeshi food and snacks. Visit them. Highly recommended Parking: In front of the restaurant and right across the road as well Food : 5/5 |
We love this place. Morog polao is the best
Best bengali food in Scarborough
Went with 5 of my friends and the owner(Abdul mozid) was amazing as always! Everytime i go there i am treated like his son! Amazing food , amazing atmosphere, amazing people!
Loved the food and their customer service.
Amazing food, friendly service, a gem for Bangladeshi cuisine
First and best biriyani I had ever tasted after leaving my home country since a year of living in Toronto Vegetarian options: Pulav
Used to be a regular customer but looks like at this rate they will be closing soon. The owner got his wife and relatives working at the cash which is not helping also quality and amount of food going downhill.
They used be good but not anymore- they don t put enough meat on Teheri. Literally you would be buying flavoured rice with a little touch of meat and price gone up too. They probably buys meat from gold shop
The food was great when I tried 1st time last week , yesterday I took my friends ( not Bangladeshi) over then omg .. services was really bad . The lady don t know anything about customer services. Gave us cold ..thehari ( their most popular item ) and stater ( shingles) was clod as well. Charged me $8 for salad but really disappointed with quantity. I don t think so will go again
Worst service. We ask something and something else was delivered
Wallahi best Tihari I ever tasted, this should be 5 stars restaurant
Love their tehari and thai soup
Very low quality and quantity of food. The started to fight in front of customers at the cash most likely related to each other. Save your money go somewhere else unless you want to pay for food and get their attitude for free lol
Its a great take out place. Food is amazing. The best shingara in town along with other amazing food. Food
I bought 2 kacchi, 1 haji biriyani, 1 tehari, chicken roll and bihari kabab today (take out). My expectation was not so high (due to the experience from other Bangladeshi restaurant). But, the quality, quantity and the taste everything was a pleasant surprise for me. I bought three different type of biriyani, each has its own original taste. Great job. I have a habit of trying different Bangladeshi restaurant. I am glad I tried this restaurant. I would highly recommend this place. The owner is a nice person too.
Great food, good quantity and great flavors!
Best Halal Bengali takeout store for Haji Biriyani
Biryani was not fresh or taste that good. Asked for mild spice but it was was way too spicy with very little flavour.
I ordered 5 mutton biriyanies through Uber, food was too ordinary, no biriyanies flavours , no salads , i don t suggest this. I will not give any order from this store never.
As far i remember i ordered beef tehari, not hair tehari!! and now i cant get through their phone to complain.
Customer service, 5/5 however the place was smelly, can give a good vibe next time.
Fresh and delicious
Always late to open.
There hours does not match as posted.
I live in Mississauga and make the drive to Star Biryani House to have a taste of their delicious offerings. The owners are courteous and ensures the restaurant always hits the mark - all the time - on their menu items. My favourite items are beef bhuna & tehari. I am a foodie and have tried most Bangladeshi restaurants in the GTA...this place takes the crown. My only grievance would be the drive and would humbly request the owner to open a location in Mississauga! Saves me the long drive :)
Never open on time.
The Chicken biryani was pretty bad it contained two good pieces of chicken but the chicken thigh had not been cleaned of the excess fat and other excess items. However, the Beef Tehari was excellent the meat was tender the was good.
The owner is a very dishonest man. Never going back and will advice folks not to. He charges $10 for a pound of jilapi, which is 5 jilapis in total. So instead of ordering in pounds I asked him for 7 jilapis. His scale is at the back so we cant see how much it actually weighs. So after measuring He said the price is $18. We were surprised because if 5 costs $10, how does 7 cost $18? We told him it doesnt make sense. Then we went back and measured again and then said oh theres a problem with the scale. Its $14. Cant believe he stooped this low for $4.
Though not far from my home, never ventured to this strip mall or this joint. The other day a realtor friend recommended this place and we decided to try it out. Small place with little sitting arrangement, not so good ambiance, kind of confused staff, BUT the food was good and thats what mattered to us since it was a take out. Among other things ordered two types of fish and duck meat. All turned out to be good
Extremely slow service....old food served few times had to garbage them...Haleem tastes good but you will hardly find meat in their haleem.
Best doi (yogurt) in GTA!!! Khaiya harle khoibay! Mozzar baaf!!
Update: We recently catered from Star Biryani House for an ifthaar event. The food was delicious and portion size was more than adequate. All my guests loved the food and inquired about the restaurant. Kudos to Star for continuing to offer quality Bangladeshi cuisine in the GTA. This restaurant under the new management has taken the place one step above its former self. The restaurant has new interior decor, courteous staff, and above all extremely tasty food. What I like most about this place is what ever is on the menu is actually available. My favourite items are beef pagla bhuna, chicken roast, tehari, and chicken pulao. Great place to go with the family.
Love it
I just walked in right after iftar time. Although they were closed but told me I can pick up iftar items as we were driving and couldnt break our fast. I picked up couple of shingara, somosa, alu chop and jilapi. The lady behind the counter was generous enough to give us halim on the house. Shingara, somosa and alu chop was great. Jilapi wasnt the best very dry, over fried, lack of sweetness and you can clearly get the smell of old oil being used. We just couldnt eat it. Halim was ok, nothing special. They didnt have any takeout spoons to give. Also, didnt put any tissue. It might sound silly but we needed them badly as we ate inside the car. Really appreciate their gesture. Worth a try for the items that I tried.
Delicious, must try
Biryani was not fresh or taste that good. I went there a month ago for the kacchi and hazi biriyani was super special but now totally disappointed and more over The owner and 2 lady s working there behaviour is not good at all . I have no idea how they running their business I Asked for mild spice but it was way too spicy with very little flavour. I realized when I asked next door they told me their main chef is not working there . I don t recommend this place any more .
Worst customer experience ever.
We had the mutton biryani, beef curry, chicken roast, tikia, puri and shingara. The portions of the biryani were very generous, it was cooked and seasonsed well. The beef curry was my favorite out of everything! My moms favorite were the puri and shingara. I will be coming again for the beef.
My friend Afzal invited us friends at Star Biryani House, Amazing Biryani, Chicken Roast, Misti Dohi and many other stuff. let e tell you that Ive not eaten such amazing food at a Desi Restaurant in a while. We are visiting this Saturday. Majeed, the owner is a wonderful man and I wish him all the best.
good taste, also fresh meat of good quality.
Shamelessly charged me $16 for uncooked food. On top of that his machine didnt print a receipt so he said to pay him again cause he couldnt verify it went through (even though I saw on my phone it did). Immediately threw the food in the garbage after 1 bite. Was not impressed by them trying to charge me twice for garbage.
Best Beef Tehari (Hazi Style) in the town.
We tasted their Hazi birani, Beef tehari and kachchi and borhani. We liked their every food. The hazi biryani was absolutely tasty. Quantity was also good.
I had some good experiences here with Star Biriyani but today I was shocked. I ordered a pack of Chicken Biryani and could smell something wrong when started eating. I thought it was Environmental but discovered the biryani was from previous days. I had to throw away the whole pack!!!
Yesterday I bought Mutten bryani. the next day I had weird stomach problems and went to hospital. they sell out date foods
Days ago we order a whole goat roast, chicken roast and kalizira rice pilou. In a nutshell It was excellent- taste, quality and cooking. We also big fan of Kacchi Biryani, hazir biryani and beef tehari because of the quality, tasty and quantity. Whole Goat Roast was excellent. My idea Star Biryani is one of the best restaurant to choose .
The food tastes good but poor customer service
One of the worst in terms of food quality and service. Ordered food for pickup 30 mins early to make sure we get it on time and when we arrived told us it s not even ready yet will take another 10-20 mins to get it ready. Btw ordered only one biryani not a tray or anything.
Tehari was awesome!!
Really bad service, the owner there doesn t know how to talk. He is so rude, everytime we buy food by the time we come home it starts smelling. It happened couple of times and we told the owner his response was its not our problem . THEIR food goes bad even before you can eat. DO NOT GO to this restaurant. Terrible customer service, go to other bengali restaurants.
Delicious food
Owners need to be reminded how dine in and take out works. Don t charge me 10 points if you aren t even giving me a real bowl to have my soup!
Please let the customer know if you dont have meat in the Thai soup. You cant just give one small pic chicken as an alternative. You just lost your regular customer for your garage business policy.
Excellent experience! Beef Tehari was delicious, helpful staff, and brilliant service. Dietary restrictions: Halal Food. Parking: Parking available at the front of the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.
Bad service, 14$ tehari , charged 19$ each .ordered 6 , charged total115$ . Compare the price very hard to find meat even no salad , eggs , chilly usually comes with tehari . Also mentioned takeout service no cutlery provided. No more this place again .
Fantastic food like total home made.. They dont compromise with quality.. Very generous hospitality.. So pleased! Definitely will visit again..
The quality, taste and quantity is excellent. I had morog polao and it was fantastic.
Had morog polau (chicken biriyani) today, it was really tasty and the quantity was very good. Excellent service
I have tried their several items. My favourites are Tehari, Mutton Biriani and small Singara From my suggestion, they need to work on their Biriani. Taste not like Bangladeshi. Otherwise, all the foods I tried, really good. Good customer service.
EDIT: I m very sad to report that their service quality has significantly deteriorated in the past few months. Ordered morog polao from them twice and both times the food went bad within hours, much to my embarrassment in front of guests and there was 0 service recovery when we called them to report the incidents. Their potato chops go bad within hours too. The owners appear rather hostile in recent times and food quality has plummeted big time.
Chiken biriany is less quality .It was not fresh.
I wish I could give zero rating Food quality is poor. I tried biryani, noodles and curry twice but both times the food was already spoiled. This is the 1st restaurant in Toronto where I have had the worst food experience. I don t recommend this restaurant
The food is delicious for sure. The owner is very friendly and kind Kid-friendliness: Very friendly and easy to go
The food is too good and there tehari is awesome
Their food is really tasty. Specially their Duck khichuri.
I visited the store with my friend and we ordered beef paya, laccha parata and mutton bhuna which were cooked fresh and came directly from the oven, the owner uncle Aunty were really nice to offer warm welcome, served food at the table, offered addiitonal serving of paya if needed, the food was top notch, mutton was so tender and was pure mutton not like lamb sold in the name of mutton, paya was delicate and flavourful, laccha was crispy yet soft, the food was so good that I could not but ordered take away, they asked me to even taste a sample before ordering certain items, recommended not to order a certain item because it was stale and not fresh, did not charge for dine in either. Thank you very much for your service and best wishes!
I had ordered biryani in person. The store was empty and people were mostly taking take outs. The cashier was proud of the restaurant and informed me that they cater as well. However the taste was disappointing. It lacked flavour and smell.
We had food from this place several times in the past. All were reasonably good -kachchi biriyani ,chicken roast, firni, snacks etc although burhani was not good. BUT what prompted me to write this review is the morog polao we had on December 27.YUCK,it was stale, seemed cooked several days ago, offensive smelling.Horrible experience. If they have to sell old food atleast they should preserve it properly and check it before selling.Im not sure if Ill try this restaurant again!!.
Long time customer of this restaurant since old ownership, although had some taste issue last time, this time the food was great, new owners are great people, they took care of the complaint and made it better. Consistency is the key. Compared to kacchi I found the mutton biryani being consistent and quite authentic taste. Chicken roast is a great addition.. I am quite happy with the generous portions!
Great food and nice customer service. Some good food to try: hajir biriyani, kachi biriyani, duck bhuna, chicken 69, veggie and chicken somosa, jelebi, patishapta pitha....
Amazing service! Food quantity was amazing and taste was extremely yummy. Highly recommend their service and food.
Previously the kachchi was amazing. But last week I ordered again but the taste was not like before. The smell of mace and nutmeg were too overpowering but destroyed the taste. I dont know why they changed the recipe.
The only place where you can get deshi style Thai soup. I love their Haji Biriyani.
This place is over priced.$20 for kachchi biriyani (are you kidding).Taste was horrible.Mezbaani beef comes with small portion of meat.Never ordering here again. Thanks
Tehari and shami kebab tasted great!! Reminded me of taste back home.
Never disappointed. Every time we ordered they dilivered on point...competitive price, food quality excellent, very Bangladeshi taste and good customer service...sorry, but cannot relate to some reviews here!
Ordered 2 times and I have to say the food is amazing. I used to go to danforth for good Bengali food but this place is definetly better.
I like their biriani and kabab... And i like the way of customer service. I wish i could give five. With biriani they Should provide salad..
Amazingly tasty food. One of the best Bengali restaurant food I ever ate. Their thai soup, mezbani beef and bihari kabob are very tasty and well made. I will be coming back here and recommended same to my family and friends. :) :)
We behaved owner but food is ok. Tehari was full of rice not good Meat.
Best Mutton Biryani I have tasted so far in North America!! The meat was so soft, well cooked, and the flavors and spices were perfect!!! True Biryani finally!!
Amazing bangali food
Their chow mein is really good!
Really good food, great prices and great serving size. 10/10
Restaurant is clean and great customer service! I tired their tehari, liver samosa , kabab and they were all delicious and unique taste . Thank you so much :)
Good
Best Morog Polao in town . They are very nice and professional. All the dishes have authentic Bangladeshi flavour. Highly recommended!
I bought chicken biryani. They said just cooked. But is not fresh at all. It was garbage. Cheating!
Just tried Thai soup, Haji mutton biryani, Tehri and mix chowmein - one word Delicious This is one of the best tehri I have had in Toronto (no doubt) Cant wait to try the kacchi (weekend only) and brother Abdul Mazid was very pleasant Thank you
New management charging more money for less quality and quantity. All food prices went up . Always they said fresh, but most of their food are very basic and tasteless. Previous owner and management was better than new owner. Under the new management the employee didnt behave well with regular customer. I tried their Thai soup and the taste was so bad compare to previous time we ordered. I dont recommend this place for anyone. Their pagla beef vhuna now changed to beef curry!! Chicken biriyani just Garbage
Very tasty food and humble services
Excellent value for the quality and quantity of the food. Highly recommend Chicken Thai Soup, Pulao/Roast, Chowmein. The new owners are very friendly have a great attitude and excellent customer service.
This place gets 1 star for 1 piece of chicken, in their chicken biryani.
Tasty foods
Last 2 times I had a bad experience both time they said fresh but have me old food. I went yesterday they said they made today but I dont know when they made . It was smelling bad . I became so upset because I asked for what they make today.
Its nice
I called and ordered a biryani, beef bhuna & kichuri for a pickup in 5 to 7 mins. I called back a couple of mins to cancel the order, they misbehaved and said they have already prepared, I shouldnt have done that. I apologized three times as I genuinely felt bad, the man still dropped the phone on my face. This was very rude, unprofessional and not courteous at all. I could have easily backed off but I chose to call them and cancel it straightway.
Bit more expensive but taste good.
Their Chicken roast and polau were very tasty. But the Kacchi Biriyani was not very good. Meat was too small for the price. Rice portion was unnecessarily big. It would be better if meat is little bigger.
Wonderful people and great food! Best Bangladeshi biryani in town! Generous portions too.
A+++
It was my favourite place to buy food from until I found a cockroach in my chicken pulao today. Extremely upset and disappointed.
Excellent Food, reasonable price.
Best Murg Pulao in town so far. Worth the portion and quality. I hope the quality always remains like this.
Really delicious food. Worth the money. Really big portions. Owned by great people
Found it messy, food was good.
Very little portion of beef in Beef Tehari. Not acceptable for a $15 biriyani.
Very good taste. Their beef Tehari (pictured) and chow mein is their best. Lots of snacks as well.
We ordered Kacchi Mutton Biryani via Uber. For a $23 Kacchi Biryani, we got one piece of Mutton and one Big chunk of BONE!!! Believe me, Just a bone, no meat attached to it! So we (2person) had to eat the rice with one piece of Big potato, one boiled egg and one piece of Mutton. Taste and quality is really good. But there are competitors who serve same or better quality Biryani for a range of $16-20. We paid higher price for quality food, not for a chunk of bone. Very Disappointed Sorry to say, This was the first order form Star, probably the last.
I didnt like the female server. She was impolite
The chicken samosas keep me coming back for more. Have tried various other things since; whether its the ready to eat food (samosas, dhal puri, chow mein, tandoori chicken quarters), or waiting a few minutes for beef Curry or butter chicken, everything tastes great! Just make sure to ask first if youre sensitive to spice levels :)
You can buy any dish from this restaurant and be amazed at how delicious the food is - I plan on getting a few of their dishes when my family comes to visit over the holidays. I looooovvveeee their food! Its an absolute must if you love good food.
Hilarious, aweful and soggy hajir biriany_ took 19th December with horrible borhani, diluted with water, which wasnt even free with biriany. Never will order for my family nor refer to any friends further. Dont know, when they made it but served me, one pack on 19th. Rice was so sticky and watery after bringing it home. Be careful others_who thought, it might be our deshi hajir biriany.
