Long-time Irish pub featuring a vintage vibe & a menu of hearty traditional fare & deep-fried bites.
Great Staff, amazing food. The roast they put on Friday Saturday and Sunday is amazing. Wings are half off Mondays and are well known in the area. The inside is a very nice wooden Irish pub. Worth the stop.
I decided on a solo dinner here today based on great past experiences. I just needed a good "home cooked meal" that I hadn't had in a long while. Right from arriving, being greeted and seated I felt so welcome. The same girl served me as well, with such friendliness and warmth. I had a trout dinner, done to perfection and it was delicious. Following dinner was a tasty rhubarb and ice cream dessert with coffee. So great! Thank you's to my server (never got her name) and chef Steve. I will be back again for sure.
We had a lovely lunch with friends here. The atmosphere is a pure Irish gem with authentic dark wood and paraphernalia, and our service was friendly & prompt. Having said all that, the food was a disappointment 😟 I had the Fish & Chips, which started out promisingly as I nibbled on my fries (which were good along with the tiny portion of coleslaw). However, the fish was rubbery and the batter overcooked. I have had F&C at many places where it was fork tender & flaky and the batter was perfect. At this meal, I could barely saw through my fish with both fork & and knife, and the batter was tough ... a disappointment as it was a lovely gathering overall.
I'm a big fan of fish & chips and was excited to try this place out at first. The food was absolutely disgusting and made myself and friend sick. They tasted like they had been sitting in a freezer for 10 months and got served to me. Insanely pungent smell and I thought it was from the vinegar. I threw up all night long and the owner called me a liar. The service was also horrible and my drinks were warm on a hot day. I would avoid this place unless you want to throw up all night and love horrible, rude service. Never going again. Only people with the lowest of low standards would eat here.
Classic pub experience. We went for Monday night wing night $8.5 / lb. There were plenty of flavors to choose from and about 20 beers on tap. I recommend the tequila lime wings as they were just the right amount of spice. Wings were large and juicy! This may be my new Monday night spot 😄 Edit: I have been back every week for wing night for a month now so amended rating to 5 stars. They also have daily specials!
We were looking for a good ol' fish & chips place in Scarborough and came across this as it's near to our place. They have one of the most delicious fish & chips that I've tried here in Scarborough and you surely have to try this. The fries were not too good but the fish was extremely flavourful and juicy! People are mostly here for their drinks but we tried this instead and were simply bowled over! Great experience.
This friendly neighborhood traditional pub has been around since I was a kid. They serve up super tender scrumptious tasty wings in a variety of flavours. Family run, and service and kindness far surpasses the boring chain pubs! Its worth the trip to the Tara Inn. Fish and chip Friday yum in a homemade beer battered crispy coating. Check out the Nachos Although it lacks presentation, it was really good.
A great neighborhood pub. The staff and patrons are all very friendly and the food is delicious!! Generous portions prepared well. What's not to love ?!
Just got here, why did I not come here soon. Kingston Rd!!
Went to see the group playing. No food but service was great. Atmosphere fun. Music great!!
This place is awesome! If you re in Scarborough, check them out, their food is amazing, their atmosphere is incredible and their staff is friendly, if you re there, make sure to try their meatball sandwich, one of the best I ve had in the city!
First time at this establishment. Friendly ppl. I was there for a bday/Halloween party. 80s vs 90s. I found beer prices were almost equivalent to downtown Toronto. I wasnt feeling that.
Its Irish!!! What else is there to say!!!
walked in and had 6 gentlemen in front asked then if they have been helped and they said that the server told them the bar was closing early and they were out of wings. my girlfriend and I were looking for a night cap but the service was so rude dont recommend coming late night as we couldnt even get a table says it closes at 11pm we walked in 945pn. irish are usually good for a late night brew.
Come here weekly and am always impressed with the service and food. Steve cooks up the Best soups.
Worst service ever. Never go back. Took 20 minutes just bring the water. They forced us to order drink to get wings special on Monday and they brought Pepsi which was flat. We ordered Pepsi zero and regular and she didn t even remember which one was which . She didn t even apologize for that. I never c this kind of service before
I went to have the Irish breakfast at the Tara, as I had remembered having an Irish breakfast at the old Tara Inn on Eglington Ave many years ago and was very impressed with it then, this time, not so much, service was ok, got coffees but had to sit with an empty cup for way too long, the breakfast arrived but was cool and after asking for over medium, the eggs were underdone and way too runny, the baked beans were served in a small condiment cup, (about 1½ tablespoons) and I think they were maple flavor, not Irish !! overall, a disappointing breakfast. Sorry Tara, you missed on this one......
The food is not great, and they are absurdly racist. Overcharging if they don t like the colour of your skin. Do better Abby and Renae.
This is outrageous.. dined here and was treated horribly by Abby and Renae they were beyond racist!
Unacceptable. Not giving someone good service over their skin colours simply not professional. Were in Canada, and this is 2024, not the abolition era. Get with the times...
Overcharged us & was extremely racist. Not impressed.
Service and food was not very mindful, cutesy or demure. Should probably do better.
Great pub, didnt eat....
Great fresh food and amazing service. Mels service and Steves soups and ribs are the best!
Great place we actually ordered food from Annas next door
Stopped here for lunch a few months ago.We both enjoyed a hearty Pub pie. Beer was cold. Service was friendly. Great pub atmosphere here. Music was excellent , my type of music
I never got my food. Arrived with a party of 3 people. 2 got their wings. They ate most of the food and mine still had yet to arrive. I cancelled the meal as the others were about ready to leave. They only offered many excuses. Still charged me for my pepsi. I, nor those i know will not be returning.
Great service
I don t know why the wings flavor is called tequila lime, the chicken wings sauce tastes exactly like the yangnyum korean fried chicken. I can taste the lime a little bit but the spice tastes exactly like a copy of Korean chicken yangnyum spicy and sweet sauce. Regardless their wings are bigger than other joints and the flavor was delicious.
last time I ate here, I was violently sick with food poisoning. it was the worst experience i have ever had, sickest I have ever been. it was likely a one time incident, as I have ate here many times with good food and service.
Great little place for well-priced drinks and a surprisingly solid burger. We will be back!
My family has been going here for years! Always a good time.
The website sends you to a bunch of advertising. No answer during business time.
Always a good time, Nikki was awesome and the chicken wings incredible.
Owner is a tightwad POS that doesnt pay the bands he contractually hired to perform. Special place in hell for people like him.
Owner is rude beyond belief
Absolutely shamelessly abused and ripped off the live musicians that were supposed to play there - just because they had their own sound board. Absolutely unhinged and embarrassing treatment of talent - and a disrespectful way to manage your business. (I am not one of the musicians - I am just disgusted by what happened)
Mothers Day dinner with a 6 pm with reservation for 3. Wings and fries arrived (after 2 queries) 1 hour and 37 minutes later. Our guest wanted to leave after 1 hour and go to McDonalds for a burger. Very disappointing timelines despite being regular Friday night customers. We will never bring another guest to the Tara. Worst ever experience for Mom who was to be spared from the stress and work of Sunday dinner prep and cooking. Mom was very stressed, upset, distressed, and disappointed. Not a pleasant experience to celebrate Mothers Day. The waitress apologized; but, no comp was even offered for the extra ordinary delay. Disappointed!
Great little Irish place. Favourite place for Bangers and Mash. Also good burgers. And a Guinness. Parking: Tara Inn is part of a strip mall. No lack of parking spots. Wheelchair accessibility: Not all areas are accessible but there are enough that are.
Awesome little pub with great, friendly staff.
Grumpy bar attendant. We ask gently bartender Helen to get some drinks, she came up and asked can you stop yelling my name? It was really embarrassing to us !! I don t recommend this place due to rude behaviour. Food : 4/5
Interior is much nicer than you expect. Wings were solid. Friendly staff. Even caught some live music. Will return.
I wish I lived here. Having a pint of Guinness at the Tara with my friends always takes my blues away.
The Tara Inn is a bit of a staple in the neighbourhood. Sort of unsuspecting for where it is located. The server(s) and service is always great. Some nights have live music which is always enjoyed. We go here for a quick moms-night-out and it never disappoints. Food is pretty tasty - decently priced. True pub food for sure. Smells like a pub in a good way and the bathrooms are clean!
Love it every time I go here
Best Irish Bar in the City. The wings are amazing. Wing night - Mondays btw Food : 5/5 |
Great local spot for typical Irish fare and live music on weekends. Awesome service and friendly staff. Good prices too...
I have been going to the Tara Inn for over 30 years. Two weeks ago my wife and I stopped in for lunch as I had a doctors appointment in two hours. I ordered the hamburger with fries and my wife a poutine. With only maybe 4 tables with customers it was slow We waited One hour and 20 minutes to be served a cold lunch that cost Nearly 80 dollars with tip including 1 beer and 2 pops that I did not order but was charged 6 dollars for Just curious why we were ignored while customers that came in after us had eaten and left. Is it a skin colour issue?????????
Great pub grub and excellent live music. Their Toffee Pudding is fantastic.
Food was good but the service was slow
Everyone was super friendly. The server/kichen went above to accommodate menu requests. Over all great time
Atmosphere was great on a very cold day
Great food, great atmosphere. The Guinness flows just fine. Clancys service was above and beyond!
Three of us including myself went there around 10:45 PM and one of the ladys asked us our physical IDs. Unfortunately, it was just me who had physical ID and my friends had digital IDs. When I asked her if its ok if I show her my ID and they can show their digital ID, she was very mean and said they are closing at 11. We felt very embarrassing to deal with such an experience as it was our first time to the inn. We expected a bit more polite customer service.
A Scarborough gem!!
Had a great time celebrating my birthday with a few friends. The manager was really great and even checked to see if everything was going fine. Tammy our waiter was great and did a great job at looking after us all night. We were never rushed to order or anything. Very fun night and great service. And great friends. Lots of good choices on the menu with reasonable prices. Parking: Lots of free parking in the place. No trouble finding parking.
I love to go to this place all the time because to me they make the best wings and amazing food you should definitely try. The place is a nice open space with booths and a bar they also have dart boards.
I just get the wings and a pint. Servers are friendly and prompt. Just dont go on a karaoke night....unless youre into that sort of thing.
Best pub in south part of scarb! Get those wings. Cooked proper, well seasoned. If they had a pool table Id never leave!
Smack dab in the middle of Kingston and ready for pints and chats!
The food service was slow but it wasnt clear if it was a slow kitchen or the servers. One person was almost finished a dinner size salad before the rest of us got any of our food. The wings were very good, but arrived at the same time as our lasagna, not before. The special lasagna had good flavor, but the noodles seemed a bit overcooked. Lava cake was expensive and ordinary. I would still try this place again.
Good Service.... authentic Irish Beer....Sweet Potato Fries are recommended.....French fries are not that good. Good Experience overall. Live Music. Vegetarian options: Sweet Potato Fries....with dip
Good Irish Pub. Draught Guinness is proper. Good brunch option and for sports viewing. Parking: Strip mall lots of spaces just off Kingston Road. Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible main floor area but you will be accommodated.
We will definitely go back!
Worst customer service I have ever dealt with I understand its a pub but when someone is so drunk and load you cant hear the server.and we wask for a manager we got told we serve drunk people in here the server was rude. We should have walked out when we asked what the soup of the day was and got told it was busy yesterday she didnt know. .
Took 50 minutes to get our order and we were the first people in the place. Appetizer salad came out with Main Course. HATE THAT!!! Irish breakfast platter was a big thumbs down. It was too salty and bland at the same time. Hot n honey wings were not hot at all. Not even remotely. Wings themselves were still the best and I do recommend them. Nice and meaty. Will not do Sunday brunch again.
Very friendly and approachable staff, and drinks were served promptly after ordering. Got the jerk wings, the hot wings, and poutine which were solid. Vibe of the place was also welcoming which I appreciated.
Very nice pub to have some food and drinks
Newfie fries, just yum!!!
Went with friends for St. Paddys. My first time, but it was one of their faves. Entertainment was late, service was abysmal. Other guests were getting their own drinks as staff were nowhere to be found. One hour from order to table and then stone cold. Severely under-staffed. My friends were apologetic to me and embarrassed to have brought me there. Moved on to another establishment with appropriate staffing and they had a great time. Thought maybe it was just an off day, but reading other reviews, it seems to sadly be their SOP. Nice place, a shame they didnt carry it out well.
I love this pub and will still go there for a drink. We just wont eat there anymore. The food used to be excellent. Something has changed. The quality and portion size are both in serious decline. The price remains the same. My husband and I went there the other day and the food was not good. Very greasy fish and chips. The fish and chips looked like they were battered Pollock from a Highlander box. This place used to serve the best fish and chips anywhere around. Also, there is a lot of scrimping. We have been noticing this over the past few months but the food was still good so we kept eating there. Now the food is bad too. I know that restaurants are under pressure because of food costs but we would rather pay a few dollars more than pay for the quality that this place used to deliver and receive a meal we could have gone to Dairy Queen for.
The legacy of Cliffside has been serving the community for decades with great food, people and events. Never disappoints ! Food
I love the food here, however, I have noticed that the meal portions have gotten smaller. $70 for lunch for my brother and I. This only makes it someplace that I cant visit as often as I like to.
Food was small portion for the price
Great atmosphere. Classic pub. Great service. Food was ok.
Great Irish pub. People are amazing and good is great.
Irish family runed pub in the hearty of Scarborough, Toronto.
We waited over 30 min for breakfast. The food was beyond horrible. The bacon couldnt be cut or chewed. The French toast came with table syrup packets that were very thick and strange tasting. When asking the waitress ( she was lovely) she said they couldnt locate the regular stuff and knew it was odd. Skip this place.
Food too expensive Got 3 pieces of kalmari when I ordered it and a big salad but I didnt want the big salad Waitress was so bad she kept forgetting and asking the same questions over and over
Love this place. Vintage Irish pub with a great vibe, friendly staff, and terrific food. Picture inside is from their lower level bar. Lots more space
Menu had a good variety and everything we ordered was excellent Parking: No problem parking. Food : 5/5 |
Came here with some friends to catch up and drink a little and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and came out quickly, our server was super friendly and made me feel welcomed. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars was that they did close an hour before the listed time on Google maps. But other than that, it was a great experience overall.
Great food
Unwanted ears everywhere
We had a work gathering pre-booked long in advance for min. 30 people. When we arrived at the given time there were no tables set up to accommodate us. We had to move tables and chairs ourselves for our group. The server let us know that she was the only one working so drinks and food was going to be very slow. We ended up having to take our own orders and write them down to give her. They should have prepared more staff for this function, it was not a walk in party of 30.
Found a piece of glass in our wings. it actually was sticking in one of our friends fingers. called the manager over, and the larger manager (i think it was the old owners son) had accused us of planting it there ourselves, and then said you guys probably want your drinks for free too? This happened awhile back and we have never returned since.
We waited a very long t ime to order and then longer to get our food. My sons sauce on his wings wasnt what he ordered, but he ate it because we didnt want to wait again. I also had to go get my own drink at the bar because I was brought the wrong 1, and he didnt return. Heres the kicker... while the waiter was preparing the bill I told him I was going to use the washroom , we made eye xontact and he nodded his head in acknowledgement and even pointed to where it is. My son was putting the kids in his car, he came chasing after him waving the debit machine yelling you need didnt pay . My son told him I was still inside. When I came out of the bathroom, I went to the table, waited for a couple of minutes, and went to find the waiter so I could leave. He was at the entrance and was saying something about seeing the little girl leaving. I paid... and tipped because who I am as a person. However, the more I think about it, the more irritated I am by it.
I eat a lot of wings. A LOT. Tara Inn has the best wings in Toronto. My wife, kids and in-laws also thoroughly enjoyed their food. The Philly steak sandwich was the best my mother in law has had and my daughter loves the perogies. Highly recommend this place for amazing food.
This was the absolute worst place I have ever went to. The owners were beyond rude and even using profanity when speaking to our party. Do not recommend ever going here. If I could give it a way worse rating, I would.
Worst experience ever!!! My colleague booked a month in advance, everything was ok. He asked questions and was giving the ok to come in. We got there started enjoying ourselves, order drinks and food. Then the owners said we were too loud he started swearing and yelling at us and asked us to leave his words get the f.. out, we dont need your business it was so rude of him. I would never recommend going there, worst experience ever. The fish was so horrible soaked in oil and just tasted nasty. Never visit this place if you want a nice experience out. Stay away Worst experience ever!!!! The owner yelling at costumers to get out he a terrible individual who feel entitled in the way he treats people.
Great food, went for lunch on our way home from YYZ so it was nice and quiet, perfect for us. Will definitely return!
Helen and Tammy are so sweet and friendly Food is good Food
The overall experience was poor, wrong order brought out. Took about 55 minutes to get food which was wrong. Asked for a manager and was refused. Tammy obviously did not care about customer satisfaction. Will never go to that dive again.
Great place to be, Staff, Food, Atmosphere, loved it
Good food
A must if you want great food, service and experience. Go tonight and all the time!
Helen and all the other servers are all so friendly and the food is always terrific. Great local pub.
Love my Monday afternoon wings... Best wings in Scarborough Food
Great place for lunch. Staff are friendly and polite. Food is good, I give it a 5 star. Definitely we will be back.
Went for some wings yesterday and they were great. Made it even better since wings are half price on Monday. I ll be going back for sure!
Itll do ya.
Emily always pours a perfect pint. . Food
I really enjoyed my evening celebrating a friends birthday. We had wings and. Nachos. Both were delicious. Our server Tammy was great, very friendly Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp to enter. Also a really nice patio completely accessable.
The Tara Inn is definitely an awesome pub! It has great pub food and drinks with good prices and service! They do occasionally have bands play and a dance floor, so thats some added fun! Its a hidden gem that I feel most people dont know about. If youre looking for a chill drinking spot, this is a go-to!
A very pleasant atmosphere and friendly quick service of really good bangers and mash. Noise modulated to suit our senior needs. Will return soon. Good selection of brews.
It had been a few years since Ive been here... felt like it was yesterday... Great catching up with friends that regularly frequent The Tara..
AMAZING WINGS
Proper local pub with arguably the best wings in town .. the honey hot are my go-to. Juicy, crispy, flavourful. Servers are always super friendly and on the ball and they pour a great pint of Guinness. By far my favourite local - casual and not pretentious at all
Great place for a wee pint. Newfie fries or curry and fries, please
I love the Tara, its a real old school Scarborough joint. If youre in the mood for good portions at reasonable prices, this is for you.
Great food and amazing service!
Best wings in Scarborough!!
Always amazing service amazing food Hats off to the chef Always amazing Irish food The staff are very friendly makes you feel like family Parking: Parking right in front of restaurant Kid-friendliness: Staff very friendly Would be a great place to have a meal with family and friends A AMAZING PLACE TO EAT WATCH SOME SPORTING AVENTS Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy to get in with wheel chair
Had a great meal. The wings are very good. Maybe the best if I may say so.
Service is wonderful Food is great Outdoor patio is quite large Tara Inn has been here for over 40 years and not a disappointment... Love it
Excellent food every visit. Try the wings or fish and chips!
Great food and a great dining experience with an Irish flair.
Bangers and Mash great stuff !!
Bartender Emily - fantastic service. Prompt, efficient and professional. She was a pleasure to deal with.
Cheap drinks. Nice staff. Friendly regulars.
Something has changed....we supported this restaurant a lot during Covid with take out and wanted to continue however our last experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered take out wings and large sweet potato fries. Upon getting home and opening the box of fries, realized what we had been given was HALF a box of SMALL fries. I called Tara and the person who answered the phone first stated that we had only ordered a small. I advised her we had ordered a large and was looking at the bill where we were charged $8.25 for the fries which was the charge for a large. She then said, Oh, ok, sorry......that was all. When I expressed my disappointment she quite abruptly said, well what do you want to do....come back and get more to which I replied yes. We drove back, picked up the corrected order and got home to find the exact same in the bag -- half a box of a small order (the picture makes the box look bigger than it actually was). $8.25 is on the higher end for large fries compared with other establishments, however we were happy to pay this until we saw what we received (the attitude didnt add to the experience).
Good pub style food and a friendly environment close to home Parking: Lots of parking so if needed you can leave you vehicle over night without getting a parking ticket
Delicious wings. Crispy Cold Beer.
I enjoyed the drinks and food at the bar.
back in the day it was soo easy to sneak your beer out of this place, by hiding in your coat sleeves lmao. My record was 4 beers lol (2 in each sleeve)
Super friendly staff !... not a great variety of beer selections
Visited Tara yesterday after a long time with great expectations. I dont know what happened in last two years, but things have changed for this location. This place used to have that vibe with songs and crowds back in 2018&19 when I go here often. But the pub was kinda empty yesterday on a weekend. I love the food here, wings and the pork ribs. The old lady who served us was so sweet with a smiling face. I had an issue with one of the ribs served ,she sorted it out. I would love this place back to be in the vibe that was before.
Amazing night St Patricks Day. Tons of talent and varied. Great music and fun all around. What a great way to celebrate the end of Lockdown. Parking: Plentiful Wheelchair accessibility: Outdoor is probably the most accessible for anyone in a wheelchair or walker with a great cool breeze blowing.
The wings are really good@
Terrible service! We sat down, ordered our drinks which did come quite quickly but then it all went downhill from there. no appetizer was served, no fries. The beef dip was bland. when reminded about the fries after the order of wings was almost gone, the waitress served practically raw fries. we had to ask for cutlery. We sat for a good 20 mins after our food was done and our drinks and had to ask for our bill which had the raw fry order (which wasn t eaten and the waitress was told they weren t cooked). when we refused to pay for the fries she went to get the manager who had attitude when she starting walking up to us the waitress then said i ll pay for the fries and the manager rolled her eyes and walked away from us. $7.00 for a small bowl of fries! It still cost close to $50 without the appetizer and fries. No tip for you!
Love the Tara!
They let us bring a dog on the patio. That was nice.
Dietary restrictions: Salad gooooddd!!.
My favorite Ring joint in Toronto
Still good food Good staff Good neighborhood pub
Excellent service Great food Parking: 50
Food was good but potatoes were undercooked
Food was warm and over cooked service was slow
Good place to meet and enjoy a beer with friends friendly people and service Parking: Lots of free parking out side patio
Great food and beers, and awesome service.
Excellent service and amazing wings.
Stopped by for a couple of beers. Was seated at the bar, and while I unfortunately did not catch the bartenders, she was very kind and was more than happy to provide some recommendations for local beer.
The staffs are extremely rude,I work at customer service too but I don t speak to customers like that. There s was an extremely old lady working at night, she can t even walk properly but still working with no manners. Didn t expect from a place like that.
Went with my family for Sunday breakfast. Full Irish had it all, and the other breakfast options were great too. Good spot, will be back.
Needed better service!
Eggs Benny. Asked for the eggs to be soft, came almost hard. The home fries were inedible. Service was also very slow
Nachos were cold and service was minimal. But always enjoy this location and atmosphere with colleagues.
Nice but could be better. Abit too much going on in small space. Overall, it is good.
Came here watched some live music with friends. Band was amazing and so was the food great fries , and wings. Best poutine I ve ever had great hidden little Gem
Went here on Friday night and was pleasantly surprised to see they had a live band performing greg godovitz and the scarberians were amazing. The food and drinks were also exceptional. Will definitely be returning. Decor is amazing
Good place to watch a game and eat pub food
I really wanted to like this place, the food is really good, but the service is horrible. Ive gone here 4 times, and each time something happens. The first time I went, it took almost 2 hours to get our food. Every 15 minutes, we were told they were busy in the kitchen, but its almost ready. Second time I went, the food was not fresh. Third time, they screwed up the fries, but fixed this (this is the only time they offered to fix a screw up). I went last night and ordered 3 pounds of medium wings, and they came out BBQ. When I told the waitress, she said sometimes they get the buffalo and bbq mixed up. That was all, no offer to make anything better. The food is really good, I wish they could just get an order right. Ive given them too many chances now, and will not return.
