17 Milliken Blvd, Scarborough, ON M1V 1V3, Canada
Cavernous restaurant & banquet hall featuring traditional Chinese meat, seafood & veggie dishes.
They opened a frozen takeout food a few doors down in the mall. There's also a BBQ takeaway where the restaurant is. Taro sago is a no go Duck feet dish was nice Steamed buns. Can't mess with it
A typical banquet hall style restaurant serving up dim sum and made to order dishes. The menu is extensive and I thoroughly enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered. The highlight being the stir fried beef cubes with potatoes and broccoli, it goes well with the horseradish sauce. Downside is that this place is often busy and the entrance seems to always have a crowd of people smoking cigarettes.
Brought my cousin and her husband here for dinner. It was her husband's first time to Canada! I maintain that this place has very good suckling pig. The peking duck wraps were very thin and they let you keep the steamer top at the table so the wraps don't dry out! I liked that the salted egg yolk shrimps were peeled before being fried in the egg yolk (a lot of places will only de-vein them and then fry em whole w/ the shells still on). The sweet n' sour pork ribs with fried mantous is quite a unique dish that I haven't been able to find at another chinese resto yet. The beef tenderloin was ok. NOBODY'S beef tenderloin beats Starchiva off East Beaver Creek. The duck lettuce wraps were kinda disappointing. They gave us a ton of lettuce wraps but it seemed like half the duck carcass meat was missing. That, or our duck was a small duck and had no meat on the bones! This place has "fair" prices like it's namesake say. They also have a lot of deals running at different times in the various seasons but you may need to call in frequently to ask. Also, the other thing is a lot of their deals sometimes get updated without notice but the printed ones you see throughout the resto might be fake news (personally I feel like they need to honour deals if they give misleading info to customers). Very spacious resto with a ton of tables and a large parking lot that's never filled up during dinner time.
A busy bustling Cantonese restaurant, the venue is a bit dated & rundown, average food quality at reasonable prices with many seasonal promotions, typical Cantonese favourites, service is efficient but lacks attention such as changing plates when necessary.
Traditional Cantonese restaurant where you go for good food at great prices; and understanding service is not the priority. Most dishes are flavourful. Portions are ok. Roasted suckling pig is so crunchy and full of flavour, sweet & sour fish is a family favourite! Green onion ginger lobster very good, could use more ginger. Lots of free parking. Large parking lot.
Walking in, this place had nice decor and looked fairly nice from the inside. We got a table pretty quickly as there were still a lot available which I found pretty interesting, since we went at around 11 am which is usually a really busy time for dim sum restaurants. After being seated, we ordered about 13 dishes that arrived pretty quickly. Overall the dim sum was average, there was nothing unique or special about it that would differentiate it from other dim sum restaurants. A major con would be that it’s significantly pricier than other dim sum places. Based on my experience, I would say it’s about 30-50% more expensive than normal dim sum restaurants. What is disappointing is that it is really average for what you are paying. Decent dim sum place if you have the money. But not a great dim sum place if you are looking for value.
Average dim sum food quality and experience. You should be able to get seated quickly as the dining hall is quite big. It has somewhat tasteful decor. Service is average. Lots of different dim sum variety to pick from. There is also a Monday to Friday daily lunch special fried noodle dish for around $20. Food comes out quickly from the kitchen once the order is placed. Their dim sum prices are rather high for Scarborough area. Best to take advantage of their early bird pricing where Small/Medium/Large dim sum are charged at Small price when order sheet is submitted before 10:55am. Also, 12% service charge/tips is already included in the bill.
It was my first time going to this restaurant. There were so many people today as it’s a Sunday. I made the reservation by phone one day in advance, but they did not register. After I explained the situation, the waiter asked me to wait for about half an hour. then she arranged a seat for me. The vegetables and dim sum are fresh and delicious. The Fujian fried rice is a bit salty. The service attitude needs further improvement.
The best dim sum ever. Friendly service!
I love the dim sum and dinner and the price is right
Recently renovated but overall the food was just acceptable and the prices are above average.
Authentic and friendly. Amazing food, really nice staff. Ive been coming here for years and am never disappointed. Not Canadian Chinese style cuisine.
The food quality is consistently good. They handle seafood very well, perfect cooking time. For those you know, seafood can be easily overcooked but it didn t happen to us. Washrooms are renovated and clean. I m fact, the whole dining area has been renovated! If I have to point out one thing for improvement, most staff are friendly and attentive, just a few can improve with better customer services.
Good food at reasonable prices. Dim sum is popular.
Very poor service. The short-haired middle-aged waiter blamed the guests for his own mistakes.
For takeaway dim sum, it just opened not long ago, right next to the restaurant, of course it has the same name. - Siomai is big and *shoe* -Kengbao has good PS and adds carrots by himself -Lamb belly pot, enough ingredients, taste ps add lettuce yourself -Yao Rong is full and longevity is full -Fresh bamboo roll Jia Zhen has a 20% discount, it s reasonable and value for money, great
Food is quite good, but I saw a RAT run across the floor
Vegetarian options: Variety of green lefy Chinese vegetables. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Food : 3/5 |
Complete bs, we reserved a big table for 12pm and we even got there early, was told we have to wait for the 3rd table. We took a peek around and all the big tables were serving ppl who just got there. So what was the point of the reservation?? On top of that the air was not vented properly and horrible inside. Would not recommend.
Popular Chinese seafood restaurant. Good food and service. It is recommended to treat and entertain friends/relatives.
Everything is just passable
Newly extended frozen dim sum & cooked dishes takeout store
Coming from Taiwan, I had a dinner here with my relatives and ordered the signature huge siomai, double lobster set, very sweet fried kale, roast duck, fried dumplings, and rice rolls. The five old people couldnt finish the meal, so they packed it up and took it back to their grandson. I think the taste is better than Hong Kong-style restaurants in Taiwan and the price is not expensive. I will come again.
Trandition Dimsum restaurant, also famous in BBQ pork and Char siu, from my experience, the food are average. Might have next try.
Food was not VERY FAIR Service was great! Alice was awesome Food
Prices reasonable.
Parking: Lots of parking. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating for kids. Food : 5/5 |
I came here for brunch dim sum today (Saturday) with 7 other people. Food came out pretty fast and the quality is pretty good. From the outside, this place looks kinda old, but inside looks decent. I love how we were able to sit there and eat/chat for 3 hours without anyone asking us to leave (other dim sum places usually doesnt let you sit for so long).
We made reservation for 11am on Sunday. We waited 45 minutes before we got a table. The hostess told me I would get the next big table. I saw one open up and she said that wasn t for us, it was for another party that has an 11:30am reservation. We were already waiting much longer than them. I said what s the point is making a reso if you don t even honour it. She finally gave me another table. But then realized that we needed to trade with the 11:30am reservation table. The hostess was so disorganized. Why didn t we get that table to start with? Food was decent and fast. Our server was nice and the aunties who delivered the food were kind and efficient. But I won t go back because of the wait time. I would rather give another place my business. I would ve waited 45 minutes somewhere without a reso and gotten a table.
Good tasty and value for dinner
Nice service, reasonable morning special dim sum.
Should I be taxed on the tips?
Its quite crowded, but the foods are very good and have plenty of choices.
Food is great except the lobster is a bit salty. Price is reasonable. The service is excellent.
Had dim sum here, there was a long wait time at 1200 pm on weekday. The food was average, but the price was more than regular dim sum. I would say it is worth it if you go before 11 for the early bird special. Not worth after 11.
The service attitude is very poor. Please be careful and avoid going there again. Even with this service attitude, tipping is compulsory. I am here to spend money, not to see how you look.
Best dim sum place. It can be busy during weekend mornings, so it s good to be a little early!
Hostess doesn t call your number out in English so you might miss your table. Special menu only in Chinese Service is bad Food is good Food : 3/5 |
A very traditional restaurant for both dim sum n dining. Prices are reasonable based on todays cost of living.
The service attitude was extremely poor. After sitting down for 10 minutes, no one greeted me. Finally, someone came. The order was thrown to her from a meter away, as if she was disgusted. His face was black the whole time, as if he owed her money. Thats the attitude. , and they also charge a compulsory 12% tip. It s just a steal. I won t go there again.
We always come here for dim sum since it s the closer one by our place. But this time I had the worst experience ever! We ordered our food at 10:08am when 1/3 of the restaurant is still empty. We waited for a good full hour for our red rice roll but it s still not served yet. So we asked the blonde short hair manger to help us check on the food nicely. She said ok then she turned herself behind us and started doing something else. Then I decided to ask another server who is tall and tight a low ponytail. She told me that s normal to wait this long. You can either cancel or reorder. So far, no one ever bother to check in the kitchen to see if the order has been missed. As I mentioned earlier, I have been to this place so many times and I never have to wait for a dish for over an hour. The attitude that I have received from that blonde short hair manger and the tall low ponytail server were terribly rude. They gave me the feeling was like I m making a nonsense request and begging them to give me free food. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant like this and this kind of attitude should not have been tolerated. I m a paying customer and I m only asking for basic customer service nothing above and beyond. Something so simple and they can t do. My red rice roll was served to our table at 11:18am as I m writing this review.
Very busy on weekends. Great dim sum selection
No specials on weekends or holidays. The specials only by cash from Mon to Fri, when you order before 10:50am. Portions are small with mediocre food. Great service though.
Used to be value for money, not so much now, though still acceptable. Quality of foods not consistent. In that busy evening, the soup they served was obviously diluted, looks like dish washing water as I would describe it. Service also not consistent. When they are busy, dont expect good service.
Excellent food selections and quality . But pricy. We made reservations for 12 but took almost half an hour to get a table for us. It was disappointing. Atmosphere was good and staff were nice. Our 1st time at this restaurant but will go again. Thank you. Keep it up.
The waiter was helpful and friendly. The food was good and served quickly. But I saw a waitress/receptionist ignoring an enquiry of a lady, who was trying to ask a question using Google Translate, saying in Cantonese that she was too busy and had no time for the lady.
Decent price for average food. It s good if you have large party of people. Waited quite a while till a table but the dishes come quick.
Great traditional Cantonese food.
Good eats.
Nice chinese food, good service, clean. Lots of parking. Food was so tasty and almost forgotten to take photos. Lol
All waitress are so rude and mean. If you dont pay red pocket money, you have to wait for long time. I cant believe this still happen in Canada. They push people to pay more tips, but we dont have any fair service. The ironic thing is English name is very fair seafood. For customers, this is not very fair. We pay for the food and service, but we never have fair service and food.
Had dim sum here. Special pricing if order before 11am and paying cash. Mandatory 12% tip that is calculated on top of the tax. Food is just a tad below average. Grandeur Palace food is better than here. First time here and it would be my last time.
Came here for a family dinner tonight and found out they allow smoking indoors! There were guests in a closed room smoking so much that we could all smell it from across the restaurant. We had kids and a baby with us and had to leave early as we did not want to expose our baby to the smoke. Its terrible that they allow this, as Im sure smoking indoors has been banned. The service wasnt great either. Would not come back here.
Quality is just fair
I have gone back many times and the food quality is pretty good. The price of the morning tea is reasonable but not bad.
I love it
Good service, accurate and clear
Enjoyed delicious lobster and many other types of seafood, with some wonderful friends.
I come here with my dad
I am traveling from Hong Kong, and a friend brought me to one of the restaurants in Laohuaqiao called Yumcha. After drinking, you can buy frozen snacks to cook at home
Great menu especially their chicken
Good food
Neighbors, be careful! Today I bought a roast duck for takeout. After returning home, I found that 1/4 of the duck breast and thigh were missing! There are too many duck neck and pat pat spots. I will not help you again in the future
Good service.
How fair is it? Im not too sure
very good
It tastes great! Cheap and good quality, there is a discount for orders placed before 11am, please note that the tip is included in the bill.
I was really speechless. It made the money cow die. She rolled her eyes as if someone owed her money. A woman with short red hair! It s impossible to come here again for the second time. xhs has been recommended by a lot of people. Do you have the nerve to ask bloggers to promote this service?
Portions are good and prices are reasonable. Service unfortunately was not the greatest but to be expected from a old school dim sum restaurant
delicious Chinese food!
There was a family gathering for some relatives that came from out of town. We had two tables filled with people and the food kept coming out at a steady pace once service started. There was more than enough food on the semi set menu with red bean dessert, cookies, and taro jelly squares.
Came here for dinner with a large family. Received excellent service for everything--was basically hands-off. Final bill was very reasonably priced for what we ate and got in terms of service. A minor complaint would be in regard to the restaurant running the AC even though the temperatures already cold enough as it is. Had a chilly experience.
Went on Mothers day, made a reservation, still need to wait for 30mins. So many usual customers just walk in and talk to the waiter and get the table ASAP(This happens to most of the Chinese restaurants). We knew that would happen, we are okay with it.
This is my fith time coming here, it used to be good, I don t know why happened, but the dimsums started to taste bad. Their supplier probably changed, the siumai tasted bad and different, and multiple other dimsums all turned bad. The congee was also not hot, it s as if it s been made for an hour and left out to cool. Their service ain t the best either, maybe it s because of the environment and the pressure, but their attitude is grumpy and ain t the best. Their newer and younger employee is way more nice and tolerable.
The food was very fair! Great quality, amazing selection and friendly staff! Great for large gatherings. Food : 5/5
Why is this place called very fair, it should be called very unfair cuisine! Waited over an hour with two young kids waiting for a big table. They dont care about you getting a number to wait in line, as long you know someone who works there, theres no need for a line. I saw 3 groups of people bypass the line and went in after grabbing numbers after us. Asked to speak to manager and everyone just brushes me off. The manager cannot even manage this place such terrible service, they dont care if you have starving kids. The worst ever experience. VERY UNFAIR CUISINE!!!! They deserve negative stars, if only google lets me give negative stars.
Even if expensive, its worth it because the dimsun are all good, delicious and big servings. thank you.
The shoulder-length female director or manager here is very annoying. She speaks sarcastically and scolds customers to eat if they like it and leave them if they dont like it. She also points at peoples noses and scolds them. If they ask more questions, they will leave, and they charge 12% of the service. Fee, this kind of person should not harm others in the service industry, he is a black sheep.
Food was okay but slow
Good value dimsum place and they have Monday - Friday special prices. Not too overhyped or crowded with good quality of food! Lots of parking at front. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available. Parking: Plenty of free parking at the front!
Decent price compares to other dim sum restaurants in the area. Food is tasty. Some more cleaning in the washroom would help
Yummy food, There is some special choice But u can just pick one choice for each table Service is just ok, I hope I can see your smile When serving customers. not just receive Your 12 % tips and without a saying thanks.
Food was overall decent. - siu mai and shrimp dumplings: very large. While I don t think it s the best I ve had I do think its good value - chicken feet: tasty, on the salty side - fried taro puffs: cold. Pre-fried but they didn t even warm it up - pork and preserved egg congee: average, nothing special, decent portion - honeycomb tripe: it was bulked up with radish that had no flavour - regular tripe: pretty good, not too chewy and hard - rice roll with fried dough stick: very average. Dough stick was on chewy side - beef tendon: decent portion and flavour - fried shrimp and chive spring roll: good - crispy and flavourful and freshly fried 12% gratuity was automatically applied on bill. Only worth it during the early special (order before 11 during Mon-Fri) in my opinion.
Great dim sum.
Decent delicious dim sum. Something here you cant really get anywhere else is the purple sticky rice with mango Mochi, I really like it Overall: 3.5/5
The food is delicious. The waiters work and service were excellent and friendly. The reason why I didnt give it a high rating is because when ordering, the waiter who assisted in ordering would not remind the customer that the food ordered was much more than what was needed. The most speechless thing is that on the settlement form, the tip percentage is compulsorily added to the consumer price, and taxes are calculated at the same time. It goes against the Very fair store name.
This restaurant has always been our go-to spot when visiting Toronto. The food has always been good quality and the service is not lacking. As for the price, I see many reviews saying its expensive. I honestly think the price is slightly high, but its still a very fair price.
Had lunch there on Monday (thought there would be fewer people-covid concerns etc). Place was jamed full!! Staff was friendly, fast and covid conscious. Food was excellent, we had a mix of dimsum and dishes. Lobster w noodles, shrimp w rice, baked pineapple bbq pork bun-all sooo goood. Get there early.
Today, I went there for the second time in three days. This time for dim sum. The dim sum was so good. If you like pork liver, you must try it here. I ordered the steamed pork liver rice roll. It was outstanding, much better than the restaurants in Vancouver. The sticky rice dumplings, deep fried sesame balls with egg yolks, sui ma, all were so good. My last visit of Toronto was 10 years ago. Today, my relative picked us up and went straight to this restaurant for dinner. The roasted suckling pig was almost perfect. The skin was very crispy. The other dishes were very good too. You could not have this kind of high standard Cantonese food for that kind of price in Edmonton. For all the dishes you saw, including a vegetable soup, which I forgot to take a picture, I paid only $118 plus tax and tips. Excellent first meal in Toronto. More to come in these coming few days. We came back to this restaurant when we visted Toronto again this time, after five months. We ordered the same dinner combo again. This time the roasted suckling pig was even better than last time. So......good.
Best DimSum I ve ever had. Portions are all upsized and tasty AF. It s very popular so go when everybody is at work, otherwise there s a lineup. Parking: There s plenty of parking but don t expect to park up front Kid-friendliness: Not a place to take kids Wheelchair accessibility: Looks very wheelchair friendly
Good taste for dim sum and price is fairness
Good old style traditional dimsum. Busy at lunch and brunch special times. Good portion size.
One of the best customer services Ive ever experienced. Thanks to our server chow wing!! Food also tasted great!!
Very not fair restaurant. While everyone is waiting their turn to get a table during a busy weekend lunch, they give privileges to other vip customers who gave them red pockets during the New Year. We were supposed to be next, but instead waited 20 minutes while seeing others walk straight in without getting a slip. Note that there are no table reservations so it it was supposed to be first come first serve. Very disappointed.
The service is good. The food is of a certain standard.
The menu says before 10:55 (5.5 for large, medium and small). If we order more, we will be charged the original price. The managers service attitude is extremely poor, he is condescending and looks down on others. I spent money to get a VIP, used the VIP to pay for the meal and got a meal. They also charge a 12% service fee, which is not worthy at all! ! ! Another word is expensive! ! !
If you love shell fish, this is the place
I made a reservation, only to get there and they denied my reservation. They didn t have it written down. Because it is Chinese new year Eve, they had no tables left and couldn t seat us. It ruined our evening. They couldn t even educate their staff to properly take reservations. Never coming here again.
If youre going to take time blocked reservations for CNY. Make sure the tables are aware, so others are not waiting near 2 hours past their time slot to be seated.
Multiple times ive tried to eat dim sum here - everytime i end up waiting ridiculous amount of time only to leave. The most recent time i waited just over 2 hrs for a table of two. Some people were coming in and being seated right away. If youre a regular and tip well, i suspect the hostess will seat you ASAP. Another party waiting with us made reservations and showed up early to make sure they got their seat also ended up waiting 1.5 hrs (past their reserved time). We decided to leave when another party of two (who came in after us) got a seat before we did. If you dont know anyone who works at this restaurant, be prepared to wait unreasonably amount of time. Otherwise go somewhere else. I highly doubt their dim sum is worth the wait, many other places for dim sum nearby with less hassle. Zunyan Fine Dining & Banquet and Chef 88 Elite Fine Dining are some much better options.
We placed an order for a Chinese New Year set dinner through their takeout website, received both SMS and email confirmations, but upon arriving to pick up the order, they informed us that their ordering system had stopped functioning long ago and they didn t have access to our order. It s frustrating and confusing experience.
Solid Scarborough dim sum! Can say that its authentic and pretty good! Can feel crowded and loud, but thats the real deal.
A group of us made reservations over 4 weeks ago and we were guaranteed a table when we got there, we waited over 2 hours for our table. Meanwhile, we saw people being sat that came after us. I guess if you bring an envelope and hand it to the hostess youll get seated quicker if you know what I mean, everybody else there was being seated except us. I guess when youre Caucasian, they overlook you You wont be seeing us there again !! SHAME ON YOU!!!
roast pork is excellent crunchy and tender Barbecue pork is recommen try Food
I have been to this restaurant last year. Today, I visited it again and found that they have improved and also have been newly renovated . Because today is the 4th day of the Chinese New Year , its full of the CNY atmosphere , very happy !
I enjoyed the food. The service was fast. However, since it was dimsum time at noon, i was expecting that they would go around with the food cart to choose varieties. That did not happen. We ordered instead from their menu.
When I walked in on Sunday morning, I had to wait for a total of two hours for the five tables in front of me. The seating was very chaotic, and those who arrived last were seated first. The waiter was very impatient and the food was of average quality. I will never come here again.
One of the better Chinese restaurants especially if youre going banquet style or fixed menu. $198 and we ate well. Two lobsters, pea shoots and goji berries, chicken and abalone sizzling pot, Peking duck wraps and carcass meat (save this for noodles at home later), fish with Chinese okra and wood ear mushrooms stir fry. All set dinners come with dessert, standard red bean soup (better than most places), jello and sesame cookies. They did ask us if we wanted the food all at once, we stupidly said yes and they werent kidding. The food came all at once and we felt overwhelmed for table space... So yeah maybe dont do that.
Many varieties of dim sum Very good services Atmosphere is great for gathering.
Crowded and waited for almost an hour
They have traditinal Chinese dim sum here. Good quantity for great price.
The take-out special of BBQ pork s + roast porks is a great deal (7.50+taxes). Their dine-in foods are also delicious.
Dim sum is pretty good here (on a side note, first dim sum in Canada from HK, and food is definitely more fresher in HK). Price is more expensive here so I wouldnt come here too often.
Nice dim sum. Nice and diligent attendants. Spacious car park.
Good place for dim sum.
Menu on January 13, 2024. Plenty of options for dim sum and actual dishes. Gratuity included in the bill 12%. Not particularly affordable or expensive compared to the options available in the GTA. S/M/L are all priced at small ($5.50) on weekdays if you order before 10:55AM and in cash with the exception of holidays and specific dishes that have a star indicating regular price all day. Tea is $2.5 a person. Parking: Lots of parking available, only fighting with the medical building in this lot for parking. Both have a lot of customers but if you re willing to park further back you won t have issues.
Had birthday dinner with my mom there. A cockroach walk across the table as we were eating and the waiters and managers just stared at us when we told them. No apologies or anything. Never returning to this un-sanitize place.
Great Dim Sum! Gets really really crowded. service is fast and attentive but with the usual mono tone Asian nothing but business style which is to be expected.. but recommended place for Dim Sum..
Recommended by two friends that this restaurant provides foods that worth a good value of money. After I tried, I would say, yes it s worth a bit more than 4. My children loves the mango black glutinous rice rolls, we ordered the two. The beef bone was not as what we usually eat, it s chewy, seemed marinated and fried with a layer of sweet sauce, I love them as they were not overly softened Turnip rice cake is my favorite, it has chunks of juicy turnips in which added more texture and flavor, definitely should try and the jinger cake is also wonderful. Small Congee was enough for 5 persons, good portion. What I could ask to improve is the beef stomachs, as it s too much chewy, which I prefer a softer texture. At last, a 12% tip is automatically added to the bill.
