Great experience here! Really nice service, really sweet lady that served us and packed our food after the meal. The food is exceptional. Highly recommend the cold thin spicy meat and the boiled fish. Cozy but clean atmosphere.
Always get their signature dish - grilled fish with pickled cabbage. Comes with sweet potato noodles, bean sprouts and potato slices! Their dan-dan noodles are mediocre though
We ordered spicy fish grill and it tasted so good. We keep on going at least once a month and every time it taste the same. I haven’t tasted any other food there.
Overall a decent Szechuan restaurant. Dishes are truly in Szechuan style and service is okay. Will come here again.
It is a great restaurant for Szechuan food. I love spicy food, and the food is not over spicy. Pricy is good, service is not bad. I highly recommended the spicy chicken show on the picture, it is my favorite!
The barbecue fish is amazing! And lots of regular fried dishes are very authentic and delicious too. The downside is the service is always horrible. The servers here are always extremely slow and just stood there and look very lost. It is really hard to call the server for extra tissue or order food/ pay bills even thought the diner is really small, and this happens among almost all shifts (I go there very often so I’ve seen many different servers). It happens too often that me and friends all get frustrated. Honestly I won’t come here if I can find any other place with taste barbecue fish as here. :(
The spicy Szechuan dishes are great. The heat from the spice will definitely warm you up on a cold night. The dimsums on the other hand are just ok. Like the dumplings are good for a quick fix but definitely not the best ones I had. The service was quick but on the night I went they seem to be to busy to check up on everyone. Overall it was good but I would just go for the Szechuan stuff there for the future.
Got the "Chef's Special Rabbit" and it was amazing (but be aware that it is a bit difficult to eat due to many small bones). Also highly recommend the house special ice cream; it seemed to be mango ice cream on top of some sort of sweet gelatin.
Just to update everyone: the chef and owner has been changed since September 2024. I ve yet to try anything from the new chef.
A Sichuan restaurant that makes terrible twice-cooked pork
Good food. We love fish fillet
super nice lady
authentic sichaun food
Simply delicious! Couples lung slices, tea tree mushrooms, and boiled fish! So delicious . Highly recommended!
Terrible food. Never come again!
Dont go there. Im just complaining. The food was served very slowly and the service attitude was very bad. All the dishes from the next table were finished and we didnt get a single dish.
Honestly speaking, the worst service I ve ever received. It feels like the we got bullied by the waitress, who ignored our existence, missed order, even rolled eyes on us. We ve being waiting for 3 dishes for 35 min, which is way better than another Ubereats driver who s waiting for more than an hour. Very SAD for the Owner, your restaurant is going to close down because the dear waitress you hired. Good luck!!!!!
Authentic sichuan spicy foods! So tasty!
Tastes good
Love their Dan Dan noodles, spicy ox meat slices & tripe, cumin lamb, beef sesame pancakes, and double cooked pork. These dishes are not too spicy but still very flavourful so would recommend everyone to try! Discount with cash.
There is no craftsmanship and it is all seasonings. It is expensive and tastes bad, especially the sweet and sour pork ribs, which are so sweet. If you don t know how to cook them, don t try them.
I have a sweet tooth, but I definitely feel that the dish was far too sweet to eat. Skilled Sichuanese chefs use sugar as an ingredient to bring up umami flavor, and this is not the case for this restaurant. The spicy and flavourful element in the dish is also missing, such as toasted peanut.
I came here for a casual dinner when food is running low in fridge during the week. Before I ordered takeout from here online many times, just wanted to see how dine-in tastes. It turned out very good, the chef demonstrated the invisible art of fire, my taste buds said thank you chef . The service is great BTW, probably because it is not busy on weekdays. I would recommend it.
Very good Chinese restaurant, I eat very spicy, so they have specialized hot dishes that catch my taste buds, yummy! Recommend this place!
The ad outside of the restaurant is saying that 25% off without mentioning the minimum requirement for the discount. When I paid, they said minimum $50 spend to get the discount. Exactly cheating!!! Please don t go as they are doing worse and worse.
It is one of the older Szechuan restaurants in town. Food is OK based on my standards obviously less tasty compared to some newer places. There are two major reasons that I am only giving a 3-star review: 1. during late dinner hours there was only one waitress; 2. there was a piece of plastic from the dish. This restaurant used to be one of the representatives of Sichuan cuisine in Toronto, but now its scenery is gradually overshadowed by new Sichuan restaurants. Recently, I ordered three dishes. The diced rabbit meat was a bit less and there was plastic in it. The fried kidney was okay. The roasted chicken with taro was served on the stove but there was no fire at all and the chicken was completely tasteless. Overall, the taste is really uncompetitive, and its quite expensive if you dont use cash. Furthermore, we went there at seven or eight oclock, but there was only one waiter. She was really too busy. All in all, this store has a lot of room for improvement.
After returning to Canada for half a year, I wanted to eat some spicy food. I visited this restaurant in 19 years and it was packed! Waited for half an hour to be seated. It was deserted this time. Only ordered two dishes. Boiled live fish, $35 is a bit more expensive. But the fish fillets all fell apart. You will know if it is fresh or not. If it is made from live fish, you will know after trying it. The taste is also quite disappointing. I probably won t go there again
I recently order takeout and I was amazed by the amount of food they give for the price. Taste is decent, not too spicy but suitable for the general audience. Good review from me.
Very good value and the food are all very tasty, always my go to place.
The best one in Toronto
tasty
Twice-cooked pork is a must-order dish every time I go there
Best sichuan food in Toronto and I am a picky eater
The best Sichuan food in the town!
Returned pork and mapo tofu are good
too much for too little
Great Szechuan restaurant for Chinese stomach, it s not aggressive hot but your butt will not react too much next day as well, overall is pretty good. Owner is from sichuan but been here for very long, you can pbbly get little more hot if you order in their native accent! Price is still good for these inflation time.
The sanitary conditions are extremely poor, and the taste can be said to be unpalatable. It takes 30 minutes to serve a dish. I gave one star because I cannot give 0 stars. I am blacklisted.
I cant get through the phone and cant order takeout. I called ten times just to see when your company can get through. If the phone is really not needed, why dont we donate it to another restaurant?
I went to eat at her place, but the quality has dropped recently. I ate a couples lung slices, and there were hairs in them. I didnt take the order back, and I had to deal with it again and insisted on bringing it back. When I checked out, I was given 50, so I should give change first. It is up to the customer to decide whether to tip or not. The waiter simply refused to give us change and gave us the change after we asked for it. Even though we were mumbling, in fact we also tipped. The process is like this, right?
This is nice chinese spicy restaurant. Its not easy to have the best authentic Sichuan chef. They make north Sichuan bean jelly and taro chicken, Fish Slices Boiled in Hot Sauce,Twice-cooked pork,Kung Pao chicken. Its all very authentic.
delicious
Only home-cooked dishes (such as stir-fried pork) are delicious.
It s so delicious. I miss it all the time after eating it and want to go back to eat it!
A very delicious restaurant. I really like their grilled fish. The portions are large and affordable.
Very good place! After half a year (time to time visiting) I would like to recommend everyone to try something here!
The five-star reviews are all because of the purchase. It tastes really bad.
The service attitude is very good, the grilled fish is delicious and fresh
Order for 2 dish took 45min, 1 order was even done incorrectly. Disappointed
It s not too spicy but the portion is plenty. Every dish is made with care, but the taste is a bit off.
The best Sichuan food in the north, bar none! The chef at this restaurant is awesome. It doesn t have a large menu but it s like a big hotel . Grilled fish, Kung Pao chicken, spicy hotpot, fried beef with soy sauce, Zhong dumplings, and black bean chicken are all delicious! highly recommended!
For a dish that costs 17 yuan, most of them are chili peppers that I have never seen before, and the braised pork is only a few pieces of meat that can be counted with the naked eye.
Disappointed
Authentic Szechuan food 10/10 get takeout here all the time
Delicious and authentic Sichuan food! Decor isnt fancy but all the food we ordered (sichuan stuff, we didnt try dumplings) was great. Authentic means spicy, so tell the waitstaff know to lower the spice level if you need it.
The service is really bad. Its like she owes her money. Her face is on the ground.
This Sichuan restaurant recommended by Sichuan friends has never been surpassed so far.
During the epidemic, food delivery was extremely slow, and we had to wait for an hour for two dishes. I suggest you just close the door if you cant hold on any longer.
Boss, everyone says your food is delicious. What I want to say is that other than that, your service is very good.
The quality of the food is really mediocre even though the restaurant is run by someone from Sichuan or Chongqing. The food doesn t taste authentic or local, and the service is also slow.
Torontos best sichuan cuisines!!!!!!
Sichuan food is really delicious, and I often order their grilled fish. The service used to be very poor. It may be because of a new boss or new employees recently, and I feel that the service is much better.
Very bad service, very bad sanitation, very high price. Not recommended at all!
Chuanliujiu is a Sichuan restaurant. Today we went and ordered three dishes, pickled fish, stir-fried pork sausage with spicy peppers, and cauliflower and bacon dry pot. It tasted really good. We are authentic Chengdu people, and the reviews are relatively good, which shows that this restaurant The chefs skills are good, keep up the good work. There are many Sichuan restaurants in Toronto, but not many are truly authentic. We went there again yesterday (2018.10.15). The taste was still good and we were quite satisfied with the meal. During the recent epidemic, in order to satisfy the Sichuan flavor on the tip of our tongue, we often took home takeaways to eat. The whole family said it tasted delicious, especially the twice-cooked pork with garlic sprouts, hand-shredded bacon with cabbage, shredded potatoes, pepper sausages, and hot kidney strips. It was very delicious. It is authentic and the boss has a good service attitude. We live in Kangshan. We called before we went to make a reservation and we can pick it up when we go. It is still hot when we go home and the price is right. During the epidemic, the restaurant can move forward strongly and provide delicious food to the Chinese. It s not easy anymore. Thumbs up for the boss !
Those who give five stars are either relatives or have never eaten Sichuan food. Firstly, the food is average, secondly, the service is poor, and finally, the accounts are messed up.
The atmosphere is moderate, not very clean, but acceptable. The service was not good, lack of care and attention to customers and felt unwelcomed. The food was okay, house special fried rice was excellent but the chicken house special was basically drowned in lao gan ma which is a very popular chinese sauce. Which may be okay to Chinese people but for your average person it will taste almost numbing (but not too spicy). You could not taste the chicken really, but it came out very tender. I had waited almost an hour for my two orders. I would have to try more dishes but so far its a forgettable restaurant. The price does not hold up value to what I had personally experienced. Average around 12$ a dish and being slightly below moderate in servings.
Ordered fish filet with boiling chili oil, fish tasted funny.
The taste is okay, but its not quite like Sichuan food. Its not spicy enough and the oil is a bit heavy. But the waiters are very nice and friendly, which makes you want to go back.
Ordered taro chicken, twice-cooked pork and dry-cooked bacon and cauliflower. The speed of serving food makes me cry. We entered the restaurant at almost 9 oclock in the evening. Counting us, there were only three tables of customers. As a result, each one had to finish one dish before getting to the next one, which turned into three courses. The twice-cooked pork was sliced too thin and fried for too long. Dengzhanwo doesn t force it. After all, we are in Toronto, but frying the lean meat into pork jerky is a bit too much. The cauliflower in the dry pot tastes good, but there is no alcohol block under the dry pot to keep it warm. The whole pot of food was completely cold in a short time. The taro in the taro chicken was enough, but the chicken was completely tasteless... Later, my friend secretly took a look at the back kitchen and discovered that the chef and boss had changed, which perfectly explained all this. There are too many better choices in Sichuan restaurants at the same price. I won t go there again.
There are usually many people here and the food is served quickly. There were only three tables there today, and I couldn t help but cry while waiting. I kept wondering if my order was too complicated?
The dry pot cauliflower tastes pretty good
I didnt hear the customer ordering anything and still didnt acknowledge it. I made the customer wait for more than an hour and still felt that I was right. This is still for a customer who often eats there. In short, I will never go there again. Anyway, the food I cook is becoming more and more careless. It s getting less and less delicious, bad review
Terrible terrible service! we used to visit once a week, but with laissez-faire service. But this time, we ordered three dishes and two rice, for pick up, and they hold us for 1.5 hour without given us rice! even BLAME and MAD us for didnt order! I was like WTH? I even DOUBLE checked before they place the order BTW, I mean Look at the dish! With terrible service there is another horrible dish placed.
The serving speed was too slow. I waited for almost an hour to eat. I was really speechless.
It s no longer the endless stream it used to be. The cooking method and taste are no longer Sichuan cuisine. I ordered spicy and sour rice rolls and the vermicelli couldnt bite at all, as if they were pulling on a spring. Then I ordered Dandan noodles, and the noodles that came were just sesame sauce noodles and no chili oil. In short, if you want to eat Sichuan food, you will never go to this restaurant again. Service is ok.
The stars are all for fat intestines. We went there at noon on Sunday. It was a rainy day and there were not many people. The food was served fairly quickly. Griddle pot bacon and cauliflower: This is the first time I have seen a griddle pot without lighting the fire. There was a stove underneath the pot, but the waiter said there was no need to light it. The cauliflower was hard and had a raw smell. It was warm when it was served, but it quickly became cold. Spicy boiled fish: We also specially ordered live fish, which is $10 more expensive than fish fillets. The result is: a bowl full of chili peppers, peppercorns, and some unidentifiable ground seasonings. It takes 5 minutes to pick the seasonings before eating a piece of fish. Take your pick, the key is that it doesnt taste good, the spicy base is not fragrant at all, it just feels like oily spicy food, the fish doesnt even taste good, and there is a strong fishy and earthy smell. Spicy pepper and fat sausage: The most delicious dish. The problem is that the total portion is too small, and it is half hot pepper and half fat sausage. I ordered three dishes in total, two of them were terrible, and the remaining one was not enough. Its time to take a breather.
This service attitude is really drunk. She looks sad as if I have offended her. This is the first time and the last time I come here.
Nice place
The service attitude is very bad. I won t order again.
It took a century to serve, and a rabbit was served with a big long hair.
Authentic Szechuan style Chinese dishes. Great for spicy food lovers.
Food was okay. Lost some stars because my fork was handed to me dirty and server didnt know how to read her own menu!
Atrocious customer service, and you cant use a visa card. The large size noodle bowl was smaller than the small size, and the food was ok, and I wouldve given it one more star for it but the customer service was so dreadful I just couldnt.
Authentic Sichuan cuisine, we recommend Bangbang Chicken, Fresh Scallop Soup, and Braised Pork with Pickled Vegetables.
Great restaurant. Very traditional vibe it provides great food at great prices. It isnt for everyone and the food is pretty spicy.
Delicious
Disgusting restaurant, it turned me into a rice killer while I was losing weight
My favorite Scechuan restaurant.
A hidden gem in Scarborough - Super delicious food! The service and atmosphere could be improved upon.
Alright dumplings but they are cash only and the service could be improved upon. Had to run to an ATM.
Five stars for their fish, one of the best fish I had in GTA area
Whats the service attitude? The very strong waitress dropped the plate while serving the food. I hope the boss will criticize her. How can such service quality be so bad? She dropped the plate and didnt even want to give a tip.
This is a store that I keep privately. The owner is a regular chef from Chengdu. First of all, he ensures that the dishes have a pure Sichuan flavor. Chengdu flavor is not just spicy. It is spicy and fragrant at the same time. It is rare to have enough dishes. My favorite is the old Chengdu beef jerky. It s spicy and fragrant. It s also very cost-effective. The dry-roasted watercress fish is also delicious, sweet, salty and spicy. Husband and wifes Fei Pian is very fragrant and reasonably priced. Twice cooked meat sauce is rich in flavor I will try the grilled fish recommended by my friend next time
Very fresh and delicious!
This broken menu looks very much like my primary school Chinese textbook.
The food tastes good and the price is not expensive, but the seats are not very comfortable.
A small sichuan restaurant, but the dishes are good.
Most authentic Sichuan restaurant in Toronto. be aware of the spiciness, this is no kidding, nothing like fake canadian fusion spicy sichuan food. We tried chilly glass noodles, chef recommend rabbit dish and braised eggplant, they are all way beyond our expectations. I would give 10 if i could
Cheap good service
Every time I come here, I must order the garlic white meat and ice powder ~ delicious
Food is a solid 5/10. Stubbornly mediocre. Portions are smaller that you would expect especially the pickled veggies. Will not recommend. Service is good.
Authentic Szechuan cuisine at reasonable price. They offer value lunch as well. I find the food spicier at times and sometimes they are not as spicy. I guess they have more than one chef. Over all, the food taste great, always above average.
Great tasting food, good price.
so delicious and authentic
Great food, fairly cheap.
Suitable for those who like Sichuan food but can t eat too spicy food
Rabbit had lots of little bones, and was personally for me a bit overseasoned. Restaurant itself is kind of cramped as well. But very authentic Sichuan cuisine.
Authentic szechuan. Fair prices
Fairly, the food is not bad. However, the service here made it worse than a grocery store. This is the first time I suffered pushing service which means we were requested to leave even we still want to have a talking with friends. Should not a restaurant make its guests enjoy food while talking?
The dumplings are delicious, and the couple s lung slices are a must-try!
Grilled fish well done
A few decent items for vegetarian and good value for omnivores.
This is not about the food, its good. This is about staff there. The waitress today was stoic and unfriendly. Pretty standard sometimes with recent Chinese restaurants. There is a clear sign taped on the paying counter indicating that Debit or Cash is accepted. I didnt have cash on me, so I stayed, ordered (the pork with hot chilies and garlic, and steamed rice), ate, got the bill. I offeres my debit card, and the waitress said they cannot accept them under $20. Nowhere was there such sing After arguing with her and another English speaking patron translating; they lift a different sign to reveal something in Chinese and $20 hand-written on it. And point at it and look at me. Im not Chinese, I know very little spoken Cantonese and Mandarin. I know 0 script. I told them now raising my voice a little I dont read Chinese!. Why are these recent restaurant owners seemingly disregarding their non-Chinese customers? I really dont like to use a phrase starting with This is Canada ... but in this case it is applicable. Also, they add pre-tip 20% without advising the customer. ... 20%!!??? This place and thw service is barely worth the pseudo-standard 15%!!! I spoke with the owners directly when they first opened. They seemed like a nice couple, and I had the impression that they cared. Now not so much, after my experience plus the rest of the reviews below (and pretty sure more above to come).
The food was great! Decent prices for tasty dishes. The grilled fish spicy pot was amazing!
Relatively cheap Chinese home-cooked Sichuan food, there will be a queue at the meal. There is a new store in North York. Now you can get a 10% discount when you go to the store to eat and forward it to your WeChat friends circle.
Not clean. Taste fine but not so attractive. Waitress service so bad.
New opening
Things are not so fresh. They took too long to serve their dishes.
Traditional Szechuan spicy food. If you like hot and spicy, its the best choice.
Szechuan cuisine it is!
Very tasty and spicy
It doesnt feel spicy at all, its completely sweet, and the quality of the food has plummeted.
A very, very, very good Sichuan restaurant, just a bit small.
The first time I ate it and the last time I ate it was the legendary Sichuan duck. I really made the customers look like fools. The duck meat was as small as cat food and it actually had bones? ? It smells like duck and I don t know how to get rid of it. Do you know how to cook? The prices are set so high and the food quality is so poor. Is the boss short of money to buy medicine? Do you think you can open a restaurant by just throwing in condiments? Isnt the shop owner afraid that the baby will be born without a butt if he is so deceptive? I hope the store will close soon and stop harming Toronto s restaurants.
The boiled beef tastes pretty good and is very enjoyable. The price is not bad. The lamb burrito is generally a bit greasy and tastes better than in other restaurants. The fried rice is also delicious and recommended, but the dumplings are a bit unpalatable. Are they overcooked? Forgot to improve!!!
I dont think it is very traditional. Most dishes have no taste
I would say the best Sichuan food restaurant in Toronto, and this is a review from a real Sichuanner. Have to go!
Food was really tasty, service was ok and it is a fairly small restaurant, the environment is ok. Price is fair, Id say its worth a try.
service is bad
Yummy
The dumplings, the noodles, the rice ... all good. The wait staff, though, could use a little more seasoning.
Good Chinese cuisine, nice spicy roasted fish.
The food tastes okay, but basically there is no service
I had much better Szechuan cuisine in toronto than this place. Service got me two stars here
Must try spicy beef brisket noodle!
Food is great, service is great.
The best Sichuan restaurant in Toronto! ! !
Super. Amazing people.
Nice service
I had the chicken and beef pan fried dumplings. They were good with the occasional dumpling so juicy that it squirted! lol
Its a nice little mall
