585 Middlefield Rd Unit #5, Scarborough, ON M1V 4Y5, Canada
Visited the restaurant with 3 little boys. I was very hesitant that we wouldn't be able to manage the kids and dinning in. But staffs made me feel very comfortable. They are very friendly and offered the table which I felt more private. Also provided high chairs right away and treating my kids in a manner that they were reading their menus like pros and even ordered their food with the help of their waiter. It was so nice to watch. Food was fantastic and bigger quantity after all. 10 out of 10. Will visit in the future soon.
HORRIBLE!! I ordered sambal from here and yet they gave me some sort of curry. I called to ask about it and the lady who I spoke to told me I pronounced it incorrectly even through in my past orders I’ve pronounced it the exact same. She was rude even through she confirmed I pronounced it the correct way and was just extremely unprofessional and rude. If you value customer service in an established DONT COME HERE
We came from London. I bought vegetarian rice and curry on the banana leaves, my goodness the taste is amazing it’s like home cooked food. We can’t buy in UK like this food. If you buy vegetarian rice and curry in the UK they never cooked with love curry always lots of oil & no different variety of curry. PLEASE CAN YOU OPEN YOUR BRANCH IN 🇬🇧. Please say big thank you to your chef . I hope and pray you will open your branch in London 2025. Thank you for lovely food ♥️
Food is awfully awful!! I do not understand how they are in business with this quality of food. On top of that flies in the store, and over the foods. Don’t waste your money!!
Best place to get take-out Indian food. Prices are super low and quantity and quality of food are high. 5 samosas for 1$, No one can beat such prices. Staff very friendly. Most of curries taste good. Best for buying food in large quantity.
**Review: Data Food - Scarborough Location** ** Offers Take out Only ** Free Parking I recently visited Data Food's Scarborough location, and it was my first time at this particular spot. As a vegetarian, I was impressed by the extensive variety of snacks and food items they offer, especially compared to their Brampton location. The range of options really stands out here. It's clear that the Scarborough location is much busier than Brampton, and I can see why. The food is decent, and the prices are reasonable, making it a good value for the variety you get. However, the customer service could use some improvement. The staff needs to be a bit more organized—I noticed a few customers who seemed confused, which could have been avoided with better management. Overall, despite the need for better organization, I would definitely return if I'm in the area. There's a lot to explore on the menu, and it's worth a visit for anyone looking for good vegetarian options.
I like 1$ 5 samosas a bit spicy but like it. Have tried their kothu roti, it was really good and quantity also was impressive. It’s a vegetarian place. Also got to try their pizza, It was a good take as per the price n quantity. We ordered paneer pizza which I liked a lot, comes with a dip and cold drink. On Wednesdays they have 5 $ dosa with chutney and sambhar which was also good at taste.
I am thoroughly impressed with Datta Foods! Their commitment to quality and authenticity shines through in every dish. The flavors are rich and vibrant, transporting me to the heart of India with every bite. The variety of options is impressive, and the presentation is always visually appealing. What sets Datta Foods apart, however, is their dedication to using only the freshest ingredients and traditional cooking methods. You can truly taste the love and care that goes into each and every meal. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, Datta Foods is a must-try. 5 stars and highly recommended for vegetarian!"l
Second time ordering pasta and 2nd time it consisted of spoiled veggies. Unacceptable, will never be coming back to this place.
I bought rice and 6 curries. When we opened the food, we found 4 hairs. Thats not nice. We threw the food. Please wear hair net. Thank you
Its all good value for money
Too crowded, hard to service but amazing food
Must try: white pasta (you can add cheese, sauces and seasonings at home to make it more customized) Kothu roti is tasty. Full quantity at lower price. Comparatively busy in evening times.
Great food for a cheap rate
Food is good. But why you guys don t have menus or names on the dishes. How someone new who comes their going to buy .That s a basic thing i guess every food business should have.So do something about it.Also put menus online. It s easy for us to order.
Food is ok. Customer service is zero. There is no system.
Food was horrible. Flies on top of the pizzas . Report this place to health and safety
Best value for bucks you can find. They are a veg restaurant entirely for takeouts and you can a whole lotta number of dishes and snack items. 5 samosas for a buck is their tag offering
Food is stale... bought kothu roti. We had to throw it as it was dry and stale... probably made of very old ingredients and oil... I do not recommend this place.
Great ambience, wide variety of vegetarian dishes to choose from, snacks at affordable rates. The choose your lunch platter is a great option. Clean and quick service. Friendly staff. Vegetarian options: Wide variety of vegetarian dishes
Super food. Amazing Service
I tried this food first time on this location, unfortunately I totally disappointed. The main reason although the food is cheap, it s not hygienic. Lots of fly on the food! Staff doesn t care and packing for customers from that portion. It can lead to food poisoning if authority people don t come to this location to check for cleaning and hygiene maintenance! When i complained about the flys on the food! They said they couldn t see it. Please check the food twice before anyone buy from this restaurant!
A quick grab and go place with a variety of snacks.
Very good veggie food and their rolls are very very very good
I think I tried best best samosa in Canada. Price and quality both are too good. Worth it. And the best part is this whole place is vegetarian. Food : 5/5
Samosa is value for money. 5 for 1 dollar
I bought vadi this morning its very oily and flour on the top like a donut, I dont want to buy them anymore!!!
Food was excellent quality and more options for some vegetables curry. Service was good but some time when busy it s taking longer than usual.
terrible is the only word that can describe the masala dosa
I recently started going to this place. Before i use to go to Embassy but now since i get to know them selling samosas 5 for $1 and the quality is better then Embassy. Other plus point is they start esrly morning compared to embassy. They also carry lot of snacks and food.
Food is quite spicey for a non Indian. But I like their samosas.
Too salty. In my opinion they are cooking for people with low blood pressure
Person makes mistakes doing billing& Forgot to give items which already billed. And If pay by card, using separate cash register and enter method of payment as cash ( round up next5 cts) and charged that amount on card.
Data Food has always been our go-to place for vegetarian food. However, during our last few visits, weve noticed that the curries have been spoiled. After just an hour, the curries develop a foul odor. It appears that they might be prepared too early or possibly mixed with leftovers from the previous day. This is unacceptable, as we expect the food we pay for to remain fresh for more than an hour at least. We previously called the store to address the issue, given that this was our favorite spot for authentic Sri Lankan vegetarian food. They assured us they would investigate, but unfortunately, the problem seems to persist.
Superb veg food
Yesterday was our first visit. Food is priced fairly. In addition to the usual South-Indian flair, we picked up few snacks that looked interesting. Came home, tried a few things - everything looks great (not bad but nothing to write home about). This morning, we found our fridge has a faint smell and we realized the chutney we got last night has turned bad! I mean, I get it. The food is priced cheap, you get what you pay for and all that. But I dont understand is why would a restaurant sell something stale knowingly to their customers? Am I the only person thats complaining about it? I read a few other reviews talking about the same problem. Makes me think if you cant trust one item, how do you trust others...? Yeah, Ill just get my idlis elsewhere.
5 samosa for a dollar, And they taste great.
Vegetarian options: Whole restaurant is vegetarian Food
One of the best south Indian place as well as cheapest spot.
Fantastic experience and awesome variety of foods. After trying out for few occasions, must say it should be in any food lover s list who wants to try out tasty veg food at a very reasonable price. The rice meal where you can choose 6 different veggies/curries is highly recommended. Also one must try the wide selection of snacks items. Behaviour of the staff is also very good.
I do enjoy some Indian style snacks such as samosa, bhaji, etc.
Good vegetarian food at a very affordable price
This is my go-to place for samosas for my customers. I purchase an average of 4,000 samosas per year & distribute to my customers for free & they all just love it.
Do try the Veggie Meal! Its amazing!
very simple decoration, no price on the selections of rice/meal, only labeled for snacks. bought samosa for trial, disappointed, very small in size, thick dough, little filling, other than spicy, nothing, will not return again
Soy pizza - vege- is awesome. Suitable for indian gujarati taste. Food
Vegetarian options: Veriety of vegetarian curries and dishes Food
Staple Veggie Tamil Food.
V.good
This is a very good place for vegetarians, every thing here is vegetarian. I like this place.
I bought food, and the food was alright, but the service was bad. For takeout, there were no utensils or napkins. I am very, very disappointed.
Great veg options, but unforunately they mix the older items, be careful with Upma and Coconut chutney...i called them and told it spoiled, never agree...too many people and they have a lot customers quality is bad...too much oil on the sambhar rice..take care of your health. Vegetarian options: beware of chutney and upma, they mix the older one or take it from fridge which is spoiled, never agree that its spoiled, owner never check the reviews..
the food they make is too spicy human cannot eat the food. We never had this type of spicy food our life. They need to put a sign for if this food is spicy or not, the customer service is very bad. Only two people is serving the food. They should taste the food if it is spicy, I am not reccomending to buy a food here. Very bad food
Best place for Tamil vegetarian food and snacks
The staff are rude at times. I called in early to place a order and they didnt start making it until we got there. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Vegetarian options: Offers only vegetarian items.
Service sucks
Good variety of vegetarian snacks and food items at affordable prices. Vegetarian options: Good variety Food : 5/5 |

Good and variety of South Indian food. Highly recommend to try it. Monday offer $5 for 10 dosas, Its the best deal you will get in GTA.
This restaurant made my cousin sick and in the hospital a few times. I dont recommend the rice, all curry, rasam, and idele. It also made me and my daughter sick.
The queue is a joke here. The staff dont pay any attention to it. If you have a loud voice, youll be served first, or you need to know an employee to get priority. An employee even advised me to ignore the queue and shout out my order to get served. Ive never had this kind of experience anywhere else, and Ill be avoiding this place in the future.
Authentic Sri Lankan Vegetarian food
There was so much selection! I settled on the pasta and samosas. They where really good! Keep up the great work! Highly recommended!!!
Affordable, clean and tasty food and shorteats. Customer service is very good as well.
I spend almost $35 and it was complete waste. Ordered dosa and idli with sambar and sambar was too bad. Had to throw all the sambar once I reached home. All my money gone to waste. Very disappointed bcoz I was one of there regular customer. I hope manager sees it and reply.
High-quality food is recommended at this establishment. However, the service could be improved, particularly by ensuring that employees call customers in the order they arrived in line, rather than allowing people to bypass the line.
I am a disabled person. Its little far from where I live. I visited once to just try the vegetarian food. Since then I am a regular to this place.Fresh food everyday and good quality & tasty. Good price and generous portion with loving service. What els you need? Are you craving for vegetarian food Datta the place to visit. Just go there once I guarantee you will be a regular just like me. Vegetarian options: Fresh vegetarian food with good quality and good price & fast service

Magnifique Amazing Veg Meal and Pizza
We heard good things about this place and so we went here to try the samosa and the bean based poutine. Once I got the food the samosa was so cold I dont get why, the poutine was okay different but okay I wouldnt mind trying it again. But why serve food cold what is the point of that?
Cheapest Place to buy quality food
Is a good place for vegetarian food. They serve only vegetarian. Very good variety and tasty. Vegetarian options: The best vegetarian pizza in town. Before covid, they had a pizza division at the same building, now amalgamated in with the main.
Bought pizza and the dough wasnt baked enough and barely any cheese
One dollar 5 Samosa, spicy enough
I personally think the food was pretty good. Got some samosas and ullundu vada. The samosa were spicy and judging by recommended dish section of this review their are non-spicy ones but cant confirm. Also the somosa sauce was pretty good as well. The Ullundu vada were $0.45 a piece which is different from their website of $1 for 3. All in all the food was pretty good for me. Pricing was different than what was posted on their website.
I visited many times to this take out food factory, foods are ok for the price compare to other place, i bought Masala dosa was good, other items are so good, some busy time long line up to pick the food, not good coordination to take the order and deliver the food.
Affordable price and fast service
Love the sammosa here
Honestly I love this place for being able to get breakfast at 8am before coming into work, the food is tasty, the staff in my opinion has always been friendly. Keep up the great work.
Good service, delicious food, affordable price
Lots of choices with South asian vegan food .
Vegetarian options: Good chowmein noodles and I like their Kothuroti as well Wheelchair accessibility: No wheel chair accessable Food : 4/5 |
Becoming a worse food outlet. They badly need to improve their service. Today I had to wait 40 min just for a masala Dosa.
Vegetarian options: Its only Vegetarian Food
If you vegetarian, you will love it for sure. Veg friendly in GTA
Good place to buy vegetarian fast food items
Taste
They should have 2 separate cash counters for the meals and snacks... the line was terrible and messed up.
The service and quality of this place have drastically dropped. You be standing for an hour, waiting for someone to take your order. People will be cutting in every direction. Before, they had a number dispenser. Now you need to fight to get to the food like a starved refugees camp!
Their samosas are excellent
A1 vegetarian food
Went there only for samosa, could not get as they had bigger orders.
Tried for the first time, the food freshly made and the prices very reasonable. Found the food had good flavors. A very good vegetarian option.
Large variety of freshly cooked Sri Lankan food. Service is great. Pricing has gone up post covid and making it a bit unaffordable for regular visits. Language barrier. If one does not speak Tamil, it is hard to ask questions if one us not familiar with the native food. I wish they were able to guide better as they will end up addi g more customers this way. I recommend this place.
Vegetarian options: Good taste of food. Only vegetarian options Food
A lot of great Indian food here. The onion pakoras (pakodas?) are really good. The pakoras here seem closer to deep fried husks than filled with flour which makes them extra crispy.
Veg food is best place on Scarborough Vegetarian options: All Veg curry are available here. Food : 5/5 |
It was an excellent service. The food was of superb quality. The staff was friendly, and the service was swift. Overall 5 stars
Different varieties of vegetarian foods available and take aways only They are open very early like 6 and close at 11PM.
Today, I had an extremely disappointing experience with Datta Food. I purchased snacks including rolls for a family gathering, but they were in poor condition, tasting burnt and bitter. When I reached out to express my concerns, the response I received was dismissive and unprofessional. One representative even suggested that my entire family was wrong about the taste and accused us of lying. Furthermore, when I highlighted the health concerns after some family members, including children, felt unwell after consuming the food, they refused to take responsibility. Its alarming to hear such responses from a food establishment. Other attendees at our gathering also mentioned previous negative experiences with Datta Food, including billing issues and poor customer service. Its surprising that such a business operates in Canada, known for its high standards in customer service. I strongly urge Datta Food to provide proper training to its staff, especially those handling customer complaints. Regardless of the bills value, every customer deserves respect and quality food. I hope no other family has their gathering spoiled by such an experience.
Vegetarian options: All vegetarian foods , large selection of vegetable currys. Food
I order something from Uber Eats. They said that I called and asked them to cancel the order. Because of that i was charged full amount for the order.
Coming here was very disappointing. The way the samosas, vadas and spring rolls are all over the place was very alarming. I dont know how they passed their food inspection. I suggest public health to come and check this place some random day to see the mess this restaurant is in. I wouldnt pass them at all. Theres a lot of carelessness in presenting their food items.
We just come here occasionally to grab their veggie curries and rice combo. Seems to hit the spot on vegetarian days. I found the last time I went, there were lines forming in varying directions, and I had no idea where to stand. Would be nice if that was made clearer.
I have been a regular here for awhile. During my most recent visit, I had made a purchase of their samosas. The individual that served me had picked a couple of samosas that were black and overfried and placed it in my bag. I had pointed out that to them and had asked them to remove it nicely. The individual proceeded to question me and dumped my bag back into the pile and to re-pick the order. Recommend providing additional training to this individual and correcting their attitude towards customers. and especially if we complain about a product, dont dump it back into the pile to serve it to another customer! (i would question what type of quality control they have to even have these on display as there were many more in the pile) I will no longer be going back to Datta food after this interaction although I have been a regular. Ill stick to Samosa King next door for their consistent samosas. (even though its more expensive, customer service and attitude matters!)
Worst service ever. Employees do not care how long you have been waiting. First visit came out without ordering anything. How good food is doesn t matter, when service is poor.
Vegetarian take-out. Vegetarian options: For Vegetarians Food : 3/5 |
I ordered 500 samosas for a community event and we all agreed that these were the best samosas weve ever had. Very delicious! Cant wait to place another order.
Their Samosas are not the same as SAMOSA KING but not bad either as theyre selling 5 Samosas/$1
Food quality is the worst ever tried in Scarborough. The lady owner of this place is super rude with her employees and gives 0 respect. I feel bad looking at employees tolerating her nonsense behavior. I would never recommend this place to my family and friends. Service is quick but food quality is worst.
Best veggie patties in the city. And cant beat that price of 5 for a dollar
Good value for money. Good taste. No discipline in serving the customers. No insistence on making a queue to serve customers. People will keep cutting you.
They have plenty of vegetarian options. The noodles are really good, we get half mild and spicy mixed. They need to however get a better system to organize a line up when there are alot of customers.
Horrible taste just fried the premade stuff and served
Good srilankan food but need to work on quality
I just recently got the pasta and it wasn t good at all. The pasta was cold and the sauce tasted burnt. I would recommend them to make the pasta fresh and serve to the customers. It was very disappointing to eat this pasta.
Great place for all vegetarian foods
Excellent vegetarian food with great customer service.
Punjabi community don t try
So nasty food, has too much oil. Prices are all high, do not buy the vadais and bondas from there as it has 1 litre oil. I bought vadais last week, and the paper bag had so much oil, but the plastic bag it came in also had another litre of oil. Please do not buy from here, thank you.
Good food. Best Samoas....
Vegetarian options: 100% vegetarian Food
Friendly staff
Loved the food and its clean and healthy vegetarian food available. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options for a healthy diet and economical food available. Parking: Lots of parking space available.
Good food
Overall fine stuff..
I did a take out order of idlis and sambar. I was appalled to find that they didn t use any container for the sambar or idlis. Instead they put the boiling hot liquid directly in transparent polythene bags which are known to release toxins when exposed to high heat. As far as idlis go it wasn t even in a container. They just used a thin paper plate and wrapped it either cling wrap. There were other things stacked on top which means the idlis were squished. Also the sambar bags don t have a flat base and so it easy spills when you try to open it up. I thought maybe it s a one off and ordered the same items again a few weeks later. The result was exactly the same The food actually tastes fine but just dealing with the mess of squished idlis and spilt sambar makes the entire experience subpar. surely they can purchase containers like everyone else. Sadly because of this I no longer order from here.
I always love to visit this place several times. They have delicious and lots of variety of vegetable curry options. I really love their Samosas and kottu rotti. The quantity is pretty good compared to other restaurants.
Really good place for pure veg food. The staff are good and quick. They ensure that the line keeps going. Moreover 5samosas for $1 is a deal. Vegetarian options: Place serves only delicious veg food Parking: Lots of parking
