I tried chicken and beef suya wrap, literally called the store to let tell them to make it spicy and creamy. There’s none of that here, instead they used cabbage to stuff it more than the protein. I had to mix a separate cream just to enjoy this mess. Ps the beef suya is hard!

The service was excellent. One of the chefs kindly explaining the food to us patiently. The chicken and the beef was so tasty. The rice was also very good. We also had the suya and the plain suya tasted better than the seasoned one.

I bought a Combo Egusi Soup with Pounded Yam today, July 25, 2024, and when I got home, I discovered there were only two large goat bones with very little meat on them. If there were an option to attach the picture I took of the bones, I would.

We got takeout here that served as our introduction to West African food. We loved the fufu and the egusi soup. The proteins of goat, beef, and chicken were delicious with some of the char flavour. The jollof rice was a bit dry but sauce helps with it. Staff were very nice and made fresh fufu for us. EDIT: Forgot to mention the amazing plantains

Have never tried West African food before and I’ve been seeing people eat some meat dishes with fufu on my social media timeline and I just had to try it because it looked so delicious… and I’m so glad that I found this spot that isn’t too far from me! I got the mixed beef and chicken suya with fried plantain, jollof rice, and the pounded yam along with some pepper sauce on the side. These dishes were so delicious and really filled me up. It was tasty with the right amount of spice, especially with the pepper sauce. The staff were friendly and I didn’t wait long at all for my food. This is definitely a gem in the Scarborough area and will definitely return to try different food!

Food 1 star, because this location is intentionally serving only bone to me. We understand that Goat meat comes with bones, but there are more than 70% of bones in 5 different orders in a row, then the evidence is clear that they know the bad things they are doing in secret. Service 1 star, because calling over the phone is the same as walking in and waiting for 1hrs. They failed to communicate among themselves about an order placed over the phone. Lack of communication messed up my order 5 times in a row. I will recommend this location when I see improvement.

I wish I could give this restaurant 0 stars. I visited them to order suya, and to my surprise, they gave it to me without the suya spice. When I went back the next day to complain, they casually told me they didn t have the spice. How do you even serve suya without the suya spice? If they were out of it, the least they could have done was inform me when I placed my order. This level of carelessness is unacceptable, and I would never recommend this place.

I would like to start off by saying I am african American descendant from slaves in America for over 400 years. I stopped by to try african food and I couldnt believe what happened after tasting this dish called red red and beef. There was a sound of playing african beat after eating the most delicious food that I could ever imagine eating. My soul left me for a moment and it took me back to Africa on a beautiful beach seeing my beautiful black princess, Queens and princess and king celebrating eat and dancing with great food from the Suya Spot. The food that will take you places with each delicious bite.

Reduced from 5 star to 1, you guys need new staff Used to love this place, been getting suya from this place since they opened and was a very loyal customer until my last visit, I usually only oder large suya and large joll of rice and I have been getting since they opened so during one of mt recent visit i had the same oder and noticed when i odered they did not take our name down which they usually used to, so this time they didnt so thought since they know us they might have recognized us, but when i got the place they wanted me to pay for 3 large frys with my order and when i refused, the employee shamed me buy saying ohh if you dont have the money just say it, it was not that i didnt have the money , i just didnt want 3 large fries which i didnt order and funny enough they lady behind me raised her voice and said i placed that order, as soon as this cook employee who came from inside to shame me heard that she ran away, anyway i wanted to say this to the owner that day but the employee at the counter begged me not to so here I am leaving my review and even the owner itself knows me from going to this place e literally every week, I drove that day all the way from windsor just to get my favorite suya but never ever again returning to this place after that horrible experience plus the food smells like gasoline or something nowadays just not the good old suya anymore Edit : July 2024, they food doesnt taste like gasoline, they seem to have improved and there no wait time suya anymore, and they got new employees aswell !

Nice spot to visit on a visit to the GTA. Ordering ahead of pickup is necessary but you might have to wait the same time it would take if you just walk in and place your order, but the dishes are nice and I urge you to give it a try. Parking: You can park right before the business for free, and there are other businesses right by, so you could park anywhere around there.

Horrible horrible portion sizes. Ordered the jollof rice combo via UberEats which usually used to burst at the seam with rice when I ordered in person. Now I guess because it was an UberEats order they can afford to cheat and reduce their portion size. They had the gall to give 3 spoon scoops of jollof rice inside a tiny 16 Oz bowl and think they are justified asking you for 23 dollars that ends up being 34 dollars with UberEats. The rice barely covered half the bowl. They always say patronize black/african businesses but then you do and they do foolishness like this. I get that stuff has gotten more expensive but if Asian restaurants manage to give HUGE portion sizes that you often need to consume twice for $13-18 and yet still turn a profit, yall need to work it out. You are only justified to price gouge needlessly when you can back it up with quality. These guys dont. Dont waste your money. Id rather come in to the store where I can verify the meal directly and choose to leave if its unsatisfactory.

The beef suya I got was quite delicious! The beef was a bit tough and that s my only complaint but the seasoning, rice and plantains were great. The nice lady at the front gave me a sample of their red colored beef stew and that was amazing. I think it s because maybe the beef sitting out at the counter gets tough as it loses heat/moisture. The value is decent but the restaurant is very busy with Uber orders so going in for takeout is going to be a bit slow. Overall worth trying! :)

Ive always wanted to try West African food, and this was a good recommendation by my friend from Nigeria. The food we sampled was all great. I had the Combo 2 consisting of beef & chicken suya with jolof rice. The price was a little pricy at over $20, but I would say it was well worth it. There were a lot of food portions in the order that I was able to take some of the food to-go for eating later at home. The taste of suya was not too much different from other grilled food; however, suya still has its own distinct character. The combination of the grilled meat with the salad or coleslaw with the plantain and jolof rice was exquisite. The spice mix use was also just a little different to make suya distinct. My friend had all praises for his order of the suya wrap. The food item was very filling with generous portions of protein included in it. My only complaint was their transition into the new menu pricing and with their online order was not very smooth at all. They had a card with a QR code that should direct you to the online site for ordering, but the code was not quick to register. There was also no place on the online site to enter the discount code to get 10% off your order. The operators should have been better trained and familiar with the whole online order process and the expected interface that customers will run into.

It grieves me to leave this review because the Owner is an upstanding and pleasant man but the quality of food has diminished immensely. I first learned of this franchise when the owner set up a booth during a Winterfest at Scarborough Town Centre and I loved the food then and continued to visit throughout the years. Taste like eating charcoal no flavour other than smoke . My burps after the one bite been haunting me . This must be an off day because I don t know how anyone would enjoy something that taste so strong of fire/smoke . Spent 23$ to eat a bite and throw it out . I never throw out food . Save yourself the $25 for a 2-meat combo and eat somewhere else. I don t understand all the 4-star reviews unless they re paid for. I had the goat and chicken combo with rice and plantain. The goat was as tough as leather, not one tender piece in the bunch was chewy and difficult to swallow the chicken wasn t too far off - dry, dry, dry. The combo is mostly rice and very little meat. I essentially paid $25 for a bowl of rice that would probably cost less than a dollar. Save your time, money, and teeth - and go somewhere else to eat. Meat this though isn t food.

This is NOT like the traditional Nigerian Suya that were used to (Gosh I miss glover court Suya lol). It just feels like deep fried goatmeat and yaaji in a sauce bowl and a little pepper sauce in a sauce bowl... I dont understand why the meat is not marinated in oil and Suya spice and then grilled as Suya should be. The name is VERY MISLEADING. Their rice however is the truth. I absolutely loved it. They should have just named it Rice and goatmeat spot.

December 22, 2022

Everything was good until they added the tip option to their POS. Whenever you don t tip them (especially the lady) she gets so upset and doesn t respond when you say thanks or have a nice day, sometimes she walks away to the kitchen after turning the machine towards you because she knows you wouldn t leave a tip lol. How do you expect a tip with that nasty behaviour and overpriced food? The ladies here need to work on their attitude first then maybe, just maybe a tip will follow. Now for the food, their suya is a hit or miss - some days it tastes nice and other days it s stale and salty, some days it s spicy & other days it s just tomato sauce I guess they prepare it based on their mood. Their jollof rice don t even dare to try it cos you re gonna be so upset you wasted your money. It tastes like rice mixed with red colouring and excessive salt . They also removed small beef suya from the menu and left us with no choice than to buy large (the quantity of the large suya is now same as the small but more expensive) Advice for the owner, have a recipe you follow - don t just eyeball ingredients and finally, make your salespeople take a free customer service course on Coursera.

Literally just finished eating here, and my husband and I ate it soo quickly! It was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of the food to post it on here (whoops). My husband and I ordered the large beef suya with a side order of jollof rice and yams. The lady that took our order was really sweet and polite. Service was prompt and pleasant. My husband asked for extra suya spice (since I am addicted to it), and he told me that the people serving him were really nice andaccommodating. They gave it to us free of charge (so kind)! As soon as my husband and I got to the car, we devoured the delicious food in a matter of minutes. The suya beef was thick cuts and cooked perfectly. It was topped with a bed of shredded cabbage and red onions, which complimented the meat very well! The suya spice tasted really good, and not overly salty like some of the ones Ive tried. The jollof rice was perfectly cooked, tomato-based and had a unique smokiness to it. The yams were thickly-cut, golden-yellow and super soft on the inside. This is the best suya spot in the GTA hands-down! Thank you Suya Spot for a delectable experience! 10/10. Will ensure to come back for more!

Got the egusi and pounded yam as I am fascinated by all the videos I keep seeing of dudes eating this with a passion and excitement. I must say, I was not disappointed it was sooooooooo good. Different textures between the proteins in the dish, the flavor was stunning and the entire experience of eating it was just as awesome as the flavor. I will definitely order again, this place is a gem of Scarborough for sure and I hope in 20 years I can call this place an O.G gem of Scarborough. Stay gold 1love

We got the Suya combo. The quantity of the food was a lot, couldn t. Finish in one sitting. We enjoyed the food, had no complaints .

December 22, 2022

Honestly the suya I bought was nothing to write home about a total waste of money and will advise them to stop making the delicacy if they dont know how to make it,the delicacy was too cold and look like something that was made about a week ago.

First time trying West African food, was overall a good experience. Got Combo 1 with beef suya, jollof rice, fried plantain, cabbage and onion salad, pepper sauce and pop for $21.20 plus tax. May seem a bit on the pricier side but enough food for two meals for me. They do not skimp with the meat, which was good to see. Had a strong smokey taste which was unique. The combination of the salad, rice and meat worked well. Though be very careful with the pepper sauce, it is tasty but seriously spicy!

This restaurant was my first taste of suya and I like it! I ve had the chicken, fish, and goat suya here and out of those I would say the goat is my number one. The flavours on the proteins are delicious but the textures for the goat and chicken can be tough to chew. For the sides the fried plantain cannot be beat! They pack a great sweetness which is well complemented by that slight char. The puff puff is awesome as well (basically sweet fritters in a ball shape). Then there s the well seasoned jollof with a decent amount of spice Overall this is a good spot to get tasty food but you need to order in advance because wait times can be rough.

This is a follow up to my previous post which had a 5 star review. Extremely disappointed..really holding back on this review but I had to be honest. Ordered beef suya which came out very dry and chewy. Coming from someone who can eat a lot my jaw was very sore after a few bites, not even exaggerating. The flavour was lack lustre; the natural flavour of the cabbage had more flavour. I m starting to think if my food even came from Suya Spot. The 2 stars came from the extremely quick service to my door.

Delicious! I would definitely come again and eat more! I had first heard about Suya Spot from Suresh Doss on CBC. My wife happened to be in the Morningside neighbourhood so I asked her to pick something up. Since I am a huge goat fan, I opted for the goat suya. The meat was dry, in a good way, not like beef or chicken that would taste terrible. The pieces came with assortments of bone and fat that made it all the more delicious. The serving came with a cabbage and red onion salad (no dressing) and some delightful hot sauce. My wife even enjoyed the goat which surprised me. I think it cost $10, so for me it was a little bit on the pricier side. The only downside is that my wife said she got the once-over look from the woman at the till, perhaps described/interpreted as what is this fancy looking white woman doing here?; shes here to sample your delicious food and learn more about your culture!

This was my first time trying the goat suya at the Scarborough location. I give it 1 star for a few reasons. The Suya was bland, completely missed the spice and the pieces were awkwardly cut. It was a box of fried goat meat. I can not believe the amount of marks missed with this dish. I thought the Suya Spot was a franchise and it would be in the same spectacular level as the Bradstock location. Boy was I wrong and a waste of time and money.

I have been to this place before and always liked it, thus went back but this time it was total disappointment. Not only they cut down the quantity of the large box ($23!) by nearly half they now charge for sauces! I asked over the phone if its i included and they said yes and when I pay the bill I see extra charge for sauces. The quality of the food also degraded. Would not recommend this place and will not go here again.

Food was good. Suya is an acquired taste but one definitely worth trying (like all cuisines). Like any specialty food spot in Toronto you will pay a little extra. I had chicken and goat and I thought it was a little drier than it should have been but in truth, this is first time I have tried Suya (or any African cuisine other than Moroccan). The gentleman who served me was excellent and took time to explain things to me. As I was trying things for the first time, he let me sample some of their speciality rice as well.
