666 Bd Laure, Sept-Îles, QC G4R 1X9, Canada
Casual hotel offering relaxed quarters with free Wi-Fi, plus event space & a gym.
Good effort to upgrade. Newer carpets. Great shower fixtures; very nice linens and comfortable bed. They even converted two adjoining rooms to make a gym - which I used. But seriously? $250/ night?! That seems like price gouging. But was only option for the two nights (Oct 8,9, 2024). And at that price the lobby code requires to buy the Keurig pod. Maybe that is what irked me enough to write a review - no coffee this morning.
Employees are accommodating and courteous, clean rooms, parking is good, clean lobby, clean alleyways , near to almost every purpose.
Great hotel, clean, good location, quiet, friendly staff, but price a little too high. I highly recommend it.
Nice hotel, I like it. However management just needs to be treat the building with a bit of love.||Especially the gym equipments
This hotel is wayyyy too expensive for what it offers. At 11 o'clock at night, we cannot receive any guests (i had my brother coming to visit me and it was a whole deal to let him in my room) The breakfast is no breakfast. Just a premade box of snacks (picture to prove it) For 300$+ the night... This hotel can do wayyyyyy better. Most expensive hotel in Sept-Iles and also the least worth it.
The essentials are there. The hotel is in a convenient location. I slept well overall. ||There is room for improvement though.
My wife and I stayed 1 night, arriving at 2PM. A nice professional receptionist took my payment and checked our room readiness as I signed a liability sheet, then we were provided key cards, wifi code and instructions for the continental breakfast.|We carted our bags up the single elevator to the 2nd floor. Room #204 was clean, carpeted and spacious with 2 comfortable doubles, medium sized refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee, closet and a window wall over the side parking. The restroom had a tub shower with all the necessary soaps/shampoos and body lotion.|Large TV had many channels including CBC, CNN, 4 sports, PBS, Burlington CBS/ABC, Global, PBS, Weather, & Sport channels). |The 6AM breakfast box contained juice, cheese yogurt, muffin and breakfast bar.||Overall, a great night’s sleep at a convenient location.
I absolutely loved this hotel. The room was comfortable and the bed was awesome. The management is really nice and helpful. This was a big help when I had to rebook a portion of my trip. They have a computer, an awesome coffee machine and it is so central- on the main street where all the shops, shopping centers, grocery stores and other stuff can be found. This was simply the best hotel in Sept-Îles!!
Very welcoming staff and impeccable service Rooms: Very nice and very clean
I must say that I was preparing for the worst with the reviews, but ultimately its very good, if we exclude the boxed lunch and the slight lack of soundproofing. The rooms are clean. Rooms: Clean and prepared most days Nearby activities: North Shore Museum, beach and old trading post.
Very clean rooms, but dated. Forget the included breakfast. Its a box with a bagged muffin and a granola bar, We have to pick it up from reception and eat it in the room. Very disappointing for a governor hotel
Rooms: Les chambres auraient besoin dun peu de rénovations/moderne mais sont tout de même très propre. Les matelas semblent avoir été changés et sont très confortable. Rooms
Clean room and very comfortable bed. However a little dated. Very disappointing breakfast box Diamond cheese, granola bar, oasis juice, pre-packaged muffin and Iogo yogurt. It would have been easy to promote local products instead.
$294 for one night...or should I say $294 to take a shower and finally sleep in the car. Not funny that my Hyundai is more soundproof than a hotel room. Initially, we were charged $254 plus the $200 deposit, so $454. The next day, they print the invoice for us and we discover that its more like $294. We were given to understand that the first amount included the fee of $35 plus taxes to have a dog with us in the room (which by the way is absurd since my dog is hypoallergenic and above all he doesnt bother anyone) but no. Furthermore, to our great surprise, we also discovered that the $454 had been taken twice. When I go to see the employee to inform him of the situation and ask him to reimburse us one of the two amounts immediately, he just responds in a nonchalant manner that he will do that later, I promise and that it Its the system that must have made a mistake by taking twice. When I talk about soundproofing, I mean that Im lying on the bed farthest from the door with white noise in the background to help me sleep and still, I hear all the comings and goings. comes in the corridor, each door of each room which opens and closes and especially the big heavy door at the end of the corridor which leads to the reception which slams as if an 18-wheeler had just unloaded a ton of garnotte next to my ear. But hey, I forgot to point out that in return for having your credit card held hostage for $908, you are entitled to lunch included!! A cardboard box to take away containing a raisin and bran muffin (yum my favorite!!), a little juice to hydrate well, a yellow cheese which dangerously reminds me of the taste of a Single slice, a yogurt and a tender bar! The kind of food that keeps me full all day In the end, I do not recommend this hotel.
Outdated hotel, poorly soundproofed and very expensive for what it is. The cleaning wasnt perfect (old dirty carpet, dust in places, stained chairs, etc.), but I was ready to move on. On the other hand, although they accept dogs, they will put all the people with dogs next to each other. My dog was never able to sleep because he could hear the other dog swarming through the connecting door. My partner had to sleep with him in the car. Not to mention the noise of people constantly coming in and out, at all hours of the night. The walls being made of cardboard, it is impossible to sleep in peace. We would have gone to Chateau Arnaud for much cheaper and better quality, but unfortunately they did not accept dogs. I do not recommend this hotel, we wanted to leave barely 2 hours after arriving, but no refund was possible, so considering the exorbitant price it cost us, we made our figure... Sleeping in your car at Walmart offers a lot more charm and tranquility, unfortunately. Especially since they charged me twice at night and the security deposit for no reason. While increasing the price that was announced to me the day before. A real fraud. Edit: despite my attempts to contact their customer service, I still have not received a response from them beyond the flat apologies on my Google review. Working in customer service, I find the situation absolutely unacceptable. I have never seen such poor customer service. Honestly, in 2024, you must and you can do better knowing that we are in the era of customer service and that with the number of bad reviews you have it is surprising that you are still surviving as a company.
I adore
Good evening, I would like to explain the points that stuck with me. When we arrived at payment I was surprised at the very high price. Especially since the service (from the night person who was present) was really not favorable. She doesnt say hello to us and has a very firm face and gestures. We werent able to open the doors with our cards so I went back to reception and she told me youre not putting it in the right way, thats for sure. As luck would have it, she scanned them and subsequently had no problem. Also at this price I was expecting a nice clean room, but my sheets and pillow were very yellowed and stained with blood. Weve only just arrived, I cant wait to see what happens next. Thank you very much for reading.
disappointing experience for the price paid. The location of the hotel has no interest, no service and for breakfast: a compostable box with a muffin with artificial flavors, a box of juice and a yogurt...no coffee, no tea and $360. I expected better from this chain.
Very good for the price!
Like other guests, I had not been informed of the $200 deposit, which I find really excessive for a $150 room. During my stay, a city notice was issued at 11 p.m. to advise citizens that it was necessary to boil water before consuming it. The hotel staff did not consider it relevant to notify us and only printed a sheet with the notice, installing it on the corridor door. I spent the night drinking water without being informed. I would have really appreciated someone telling me, even if it meant waking me up. I am pregnant and I do not want to take the risk of consuming contaminated water!! Lunch. I am told that lunch will be provided, I expect anything but that! A muffin, a granola bar, juice, yogurt and cheese. Well, let s see? I felt like someone was playing a bad joke on me. Never had such a disappointing meal. I do not recommend this sad place, poorly insulated with floors covered in an old carpet of questionable cleanliness.
The rooms are spacious and the toilets very clean.I arrived at 12pm unfortunately I wasnt prioritized for early check-in,
Bad hotel, dont stay there, they dont refund your deposit. Dont stay there, they dont refund the deposit. Not clean . Bad service
Very good in every way. Clean and well soundproofed rooms. I would happily come back when I am in the area again, and I recommend this place.
I want to leave my review about our visit to this hotel. When booking a hotel through Booking, not a word was said about the $200 security deposit, which we had to leave plus payment. This unpleasant news awaited us as soon as we arrived at the hotel at 8:00 p.m. When I asked if I could not pay this amount because I only intended to pay for the hotel, the night manager told me that in this case she would refuse me accommodation, I was with a child of three years. I requested official documentation regarding this charge and received a printout from the computer that had no official information and showed not $200 but $100. We offered cash and all is not well here, payment is only by card. So we moved in: stained carpet, cobwebs on the bathroom hood, dust on the paintings, dirty bedside lamp. Single shower set - we were with two adults and a child. Coffee for two only and tea with water are not provided, nor is breakfast. The departure time was not announced to us at the administrative office. But overall the room is not bad and this comment might not have been made if the staff had been customer oriented. Photo attached.
The service is very good but the rooms need a good facelift. We feel like were in the 90s in terms of the decor
I thought Gouverneur was a pretty nice hotel chain, Every Gouverneur hotel I visited was great but this one is awful. Sure, the beds are really comfortable, but the rooms desperately need a refresh. Old carpeting, old furniture, really old AC/Heating system that clearly needs to be cleaned. Service was not all that good either. They are short-staffed, like pretty much every employer but I would still expect more from such a hotel chain. The breakfast only included a muffin, a yogurt, tender bar, piece of cheese and Oasis juice box.
Rustic room with a few USB ports as novelties. High speed WiFi when present. Bathroom could be cleaner. Very welcoming reception staff. Low quality TV channels Rooms: Need renovations
Carpet, dusty as hell, I sleep with a mask its so dusty, its disgusting.
No wine cup and utensils for the rooms cardboard glass for the wine which tasted like cardboard obliged to buy utensils and wine glass at dollarama
Untrustworthy administration. I paid with my credit card when leaving, but for reasons I dont know after 5 months they charged me the bills of three people I dont even know. Dont do business with them, look elsewhere for peace of mind.
Needs a face-lift. Very dated.
Room in need of a refresh. Good service
Very nice experience, very friendly and competent staff! The room was spotless, comfortable bed and price average for all surrounding hotels. Our floor had work planned, all was very well indicated with a starting time of 8:00 AM so we expected it and it was respected. Me and my two companions were satisfied
Correct Rooms: Nice Rooms : 5/5 |
Spacious room in business class, comfortable bed, good office workspace with ergonomic chair, location close to several shops, the hotel could however do with a little refreshment. Rooms: Fridge available; air conditioning; work desk and ergonomic chair
Room ok, a bit old with the carpets. The included lunch is tough. The price was very good.
Several rooms are recently renovated. Good luck!
Unrenovated hotel, Magané, intermittent wifi, disgusting lunch box. $150 per night. No sense
The rooms are very clean but we see that there is a little lack of maintenance. Lunch consists of a box: a granola bar, a muffin, yogurt, juice and cheese
Not a very welcoming welcome
The hotel is clean and well located for transit workers like me. The staff is courteous. The only negative was that the bathroom fan didnt work in the room I rented.
Absolutely dissatisfied! The lady at reception with her mane straight out of the 80s has no respect for the customers. In addition, it encourages young people to drink in their car. I advise against it to everyone.
Room in need of major renovation as well as the building. The carpet was wet in one corner. According to them its air conditioning. The carpet should no longer be in the bedrooms. Continental lunch box style breakfast: yogurt, granola bar, juice, apple, cheese and muffin. Super friendly staff
Room a little dated but pleasant. The beds were clean and comfortable Simple lunch included and coffee available. Kind staff. One star was missing when we arrived (2 stars instead of 3). This hotel is worth as much as some 3 star hotels. Do not hesitate to call for better rates than on the reservation sites. Preferential price for people working in the public domain.
Very clean, courteous service, but outdated and worn decoration and furnishings...
1980s feel. Everything is clean, but dated and without renovation. Effective A/C which doesnt make too much noise. Blatant lack of light in the bathroom. I spent two nights, the first, I had the impression of being in a highway motel in the United States. The other night everything was ok. Good soundproofing. Located on the edge of the 138, but far from the river and no view from the room.
Good for the price. Beautiful big room!
It was good
It was okay
booking confirmation once there no room
I would give ZERO stars if I could, we booked a room on August 15th with their telephone customer service and to our surprise we are informed that the hotel is full and there are no rooms in our name! !! we didnt even get an apology following this incident. very disappointing experience, they still have a way to go in customer service....
Clean and comfortable room. Building in need of a serious face lift. 1980s decor. 1980s technology. Prices of the 2030s... Dig around a little more, theres probably something better in Sept-Îles. Sept-Îles is beautiful, much more beautiful than the governors inn...
Spending here for work with a colleague to sleep one night when we arrived there was room and the nice lady responded as soon as we arrived to rent the room and explained that lunch was a lunch box and there was free apples on the counter
Comfortable, clean and the service is courteous. A hot lunch and the 4 stars would already be given. Bathroom fan had no outlet (is this normal?!)
Clean and comfortable. Not luxurious but for what I needed it it wasnt necessary. Breakfast includes; muffin, yogurt, cheese, soft candy bar and small juice offered even during a pandemic in the form of a small food box in the room.
Impeccable service A1. attentive staff with little care. Personally, I have stayed at the hotel a few times and I have nothing but compliments to say about the staff who did everything to accommodate me with my little whims. Dont give up and win, youre GREAT
When you check in, the police who came to the call, investigate the theft. Very bad room noise insulation. There is no microwave in the room. Old furniture. Breakfast is small. : a friendly girl at the reception. Fresh and clean towels by standard. High-quality soap, shower gel, sponge. Modern TV . Parking with for electric cars.
Very good service. Thank you
The room was okay, but the hotel somehow looked like the walls were falling apart and we were smelling marijuana in the elevator which was not a pleasant smell for us, it made us very uncomfortable. Otherwise everything else was good.
Beautiful room, comfortable, very welcoming welcome
Needs renovations, room stank of mold, faucets leaked, mattress uncomfortable, we even ran out of water in the morning. If you like stucco walls and ceilings, this is a great place to visit. In my opinion, no governor of that name would stay in this hotel.
I had to cancel Saturday evening and Sunday evening and return to Quebec. The receptionist in a very bad mood told me that she was going to cancel my reservation on Sunday and I told her that I was canceling Saturday evening and Sunday evening She told me that since I had booked with you...I had to ask you for a refund. I just saw your information regarding cancellations..I think she was supposed to refund me because I paid with a TD debit card. I had to request my deposit myself $100.00. Even when I went down...I had to wait a good half hour and I had to look for where the receptionist was She was outside with an intern I must have disturbed her because she was outside and she came in in a terrible mood. As I mentioned I asked her for my refund for the 2 nights that I had canceled and she told me to ASK YOU FOR MY REFUND FOR SATURDAY EVENING AND SUNDAY EVENING. I had to cancel these 2 evenings because I was sick and had to return home to Quebec. I believe that next time I will no longer book at the Auberge des Gouverneurs de Sept-Iles
Good welcome, nice room
the website mentions a swimming pool which no longer exists, we chose here for this reason but apart from that good welcome, comfortable and clean room even if it needs refreshing
Very very comfortable bed, bathroom needs to be refreshed, carpet, furniture looks old.
Okay... A little stuck in time. Hidden fees $45.90 more for the pet even though the website didnt tell me this when booking... Were taking advantage of the tourist influx...
Very courteous staff, but the hotel is in dire need of work. No weeding, really shabby exterior walls, room just ok, but nothing more. You quickly see that it is an old hotel whose owners have not invested in bringing it up to date. The staff is excellent, but not easy to make something clean or great out of old things. Too bad, but the hotel is 2 stars and it doesnt deserve more!
Nothing to complain about! The rooms are very clean and the service at the reception is excellent. Overall the price is very good.
Clean hotel. Friendly staff. Nice take away breakfast. Rooms are the same as 10 years ago. Bathrooms need remodeling. Bed very comfy
Clean room with comfortable bed. No room smells. Points negative are the breakfast during Covid-19 and soundproofing walls, we hear and understand what people talk in the neighbourhood rooms.
Omg its old and lacks love and paint....but nice staff
We stayed two nights, warm welcome from Manon and she gave us very good advice on things to see... comfortable room (despite the carpet), unfortunate that the restaurant was closed
I slept very well !!! Nice room for value for money
Hotel really lacks love, TV cable not HD it looks like Im watching TV in 1990. Ask for a microwave for 1h30 plus to tell me we wont provide one. In short, pay a little more and go elsewhere.
Beautiful room, the bed is comfortable!
Dirty brown carpet, even my stockings have turned brown. Beds really not comfortable. Bathtub (shower) and sink half clogged. You know when youre taking a shower and the water comes up to your ankles?! In addition, we are charged $100 more on arrival without notifying us beforehand, something that is even prohibited with government agreements (I travel a lot for a ministry). What more can I say.... It was the 2nd and last time I went there.
Not modern. Just a place to sleep and wake
Very good music with flash disco and very good companies
Hair was found in the sheets, towels and the bathroom...
Slept well. We went for lunch at the fine Renard restaurant but there were ingredients missing from the lunch menu and they didnt tell us or ask us if we wanted anything else instead!!! The 2nd coffee costs $40 plus tip for 2 lunches, especially since some very expensive things were missing. But the hotel is very good except that their door card is bad.
Yes one day I will come back!
Remains a good standard of room. The service at the reception must be improved (uneven) and not always at the level expected for this banner. The look of the corridors is not modern but remains pleasant and proves that good design remains pleasant despite the decades.
Clean room, friendly staff. Wifi efficient the first evening, but not functional the following day.
Excellent value for money
Central square with friendly staff :)
Beautiful rooms! Free charging for electric vehicles! THANKS !
Warm welcome, clean room, very comfortable and very well soundproofed.
Good, well kept comfortable but because of covid we cannot offer restaurant and bar, which is a shame.
a very calm and relaxing place during this vacation.
Very decent hotel
Im satisfied with my stay in the Gouverneur hotel. Reception desk is always available, free to speak English or French. Big and well equipped clean room number. Internet connection is pretty good. Location is very nice- in very town center.
When I arrived there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the bathroom of the room, clearly the unused towels had not been replaced. The cleaning leaves something to be desired throughout the hotel, there are carpet moss along the corridors and also in my room. The sink tap is leaking and the bath tap too and you have to find the right way to close them, completely outdated. We can clearly hear the occupants of the other rooms talking. Garbage bags and towels taken outside the rooms remain there all day. Continental breakfast is a real joke, because of covid!!!! A muffin, yogurt, soft bar in a styrofoam box!!!!!! Its laughing at the world. I stayed a week before in Sept-Iles in another hotel at the same price and we were served a real lunch, eggs, sausages, bacon, toast etc... prepared in front of you, one person at a time... it Its my employer who accommodates me so I dont choose. Comfortable bed, fast wifi. This place deserves rejuvenation work and its urgent......
Everything was good except the hair dryer. Actually all equipements are old fashioned but the sttafs are very nice. Dont forget how much you paid.
Wow, again
This hotel dates a little but used to be very good. It is still Ok.
Its very good
Old but clean!
A little outdated but clean and comfortable.
Very old mattress, uncomfortable for us, passable restaurant, courteous and smiling staff
Hotel really not clean... room especially
Excellent! Quality meat and exquisite salads! An unbeatable price! Good service! Congratulations!
Wifi fast
Adequate, super comfortable beds! The building is falling into ruins, however, and the corridors are very dirty. The in-ground pool was not in operation on June 29. The restaurant is to be forgotten especially for roasted brulée lunches, fried and uncooked eggs, see the kind? 2 mornings in a row then, we ate elsewhere the other days.
Nice and clean rooms
Staff very friendly, installations super dated, the sinks and bathtubs are in desperate need of maintenance. Showers end up ankle deep in dirty soap water. Otherwise comfortable night.
We had no doubts about the quality but I think that at this price the beds could be changed for new ones which are so uncomfortable even the pillows are not, I come out feeling sore. The decor not so bad but really lacks love. Its time to renovate. Non points: It s clean and very welcoming.
Unresponsive and slow staff... Average cleanliness...old... Average comfort
The room was not vacuumed but a deduction was made on the bill. Courteous staff.
Dog friendly and good services! Clean! We enjoyed ourselves. Downside they say they have a pool still... But they dont.
Good service. Looks like all Gouverneur hotels. Magnificent terrace
I love this place. I stayed in Sherbrooke earlier this year it was great.
If you like the sixties, go there, but its not the best of the sixties, be warned. Flee this place, neither the staff nor the establishment are worth a detour.
Clean, good service, kindness and professionalism. I go back every time.
Comfortable and clean room, very quiet.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Too bad lunch is not included as it can be at the Mingan hotel, just opposite.
Cardboard walls, difficult to sleep when the neighbors talk to each other, a hotel is for sleeping, and I cant relax...
A very good cozy bed!!!
Clean and comfortable
Great welcome
Nice hotel
Very mediocre hotel with 80s decor, the hallway carpets were dirty and the room left something to be desired The worst thing was that we arrived from Cruise during the night and the room assigned to us was not even cleaned. We had to go back downstairs to get another room, luckily it was 3:00 am because we sure would have been elsewhere!!!! Unfortunately I will not return to your place again!!!
It was good but the restaurant did not have air conditioning.
There were a few hairs on the toilet seat and in the bath. The bed and the rest of the room seemed clean. The hotel is a 30-minute walk from the waterfront where the majority of restaurants are located. The service was courteous
Courteous service. I chose a business class room. This was located on a floor with restricted access to the roomers on the floor. Quiet environment. The beds are very comfortable thanks to the quality of the bedding and mattress. The only downside is that the outdoor swimming pool is accessible but the paving around it is poorly maintained. No problem for me, I had no intention of swimming there. A meal card is offered with room service, a bar and a gym and accessible at the same facility. Overall, great sleeping experience.
I found the room very beautiful and comfortable. Automatic thermostat, large TV, large window, warm decor... I would have liked to spend a second night!
Its super comfortable and not too Dear. Very good value for money
Im not generally very picky about hotels, so in short this hotel is correct and clean. On the other hand, if you plan to listen to a film live (streaming) using their wifi, be aware that it will definitely cut out several times... And that for me is unacceptable in 2018...
three good
Very comfortable rooms and opaque curtains. Friendly and courteous staff. I find that the old-fashioned style adds charm to this hotel. Lots of woodwork.
GOOD
Very dirty hotel, outdoor ashtray overflowing poor service
Simple but comfortable rooms and very pleasent staff
Older hotel, clean washroom and nice bed
I went there for a professional meeting in the Trois Rivières room. Great Service.
Ok for the price
Always want to stay here ... superb ppace to stay
Its comfortable, the children really liked it
Very much appreciated the tranquility and cleanliness of the room
Good service, good location, excellent personnel!
A little unclean in the corridors, the trash cans are overflowing
Very clean, the outdoor swimming pool is heated with a lifeguard!
A little dated, but very comfortable and a charming owner. I will come back!
Good lunch, courteous staff!
