22 Rue Wellington N, Sherbrooke, QC J1H 5B7, Canada
Service was slow, order was wrong, food still tasted good but it’s 4$ to put beef in a ramen(only 4 thin slices), someone behind me in line got served first. Usually a good experience but service was horrible today.
Terrible food that took forever to get. Dumplings tasted like hot water with spoiled shrimp. Paid tip in advance and regretted it. Ramen was not as good as the bowl ramen at supermarket. Spent 31$ and left hungry and dissapointed. Was trying to take my young daughter to a fun place because she loves japanise culture. What a dissappointment.
Not really a manga cafe in the traditional sense, which is a little disappointing, but it's still a nice place with a cool vibe.
Cute, simple, cozy! Very surprising menu (meaning there's a good variety)! Good bubble tea! Smiling and kind employees. Would go back! Clean bathroom.
Review about the food section Are you vegan? 🌿 If so, you will be happy with the choices you can take withthe ramen bowl, the onigiri and the iced-mocchi. And it tast so good. So far, I went just to eat, not to do anything else. But the place seem good to eat while reading, of course. The staff is friendly. They serve the food fast enough when nobody is there. You can drink your "drink" while waiting for the food and chill. Anyways. I love it, personnally. ---- If you are not vegan, you will be happy with the many more choices they have, of course!
A cute little manga shop with a coffee shop inside that lets you eat and enjoy bubble tea while reading your own book or by renting one. It's true that their service is a bit slow for the food but it's not a restaurant. It's a great place to come with friends or alone for some reading time. Although, I ordered their Dango, it wasn't a Dango since it's supposed to be a boiled rice cake. I had a mochi.
Just know it's not a restaurant but a cafe to chill with your friends... That happens to also have food and bubble teas made with actual real tea and not the weird colorful powder you see a lot in other bubble tea shops. There's a gaming lounge in the basement and you can read mangas on the second floor. The best place in the city for manga lovers.
The food is good, and the bubble teas even better! Courteous staff who in rare occasions may be a bit overwhelmed by their tasks, but they do their best and always take time to be polite with the customers. Recommended if you want to hang around for a few hours with friends around a good tea and Japanese snacks, or for students with homeworks and assignments!
I dont eat because of health problems but the atmosphere is very good
Very nice place to read or buy manga while enjoying a good bowl of ramen or other Japanese specialties
I am writing today, which I never do but honestly my disappointment is incomprehensible, I was for several years one of the regulars I came every dinner time 5 days a week and I came every weekend leave spent whole days reading manga, eating a good meal and ending my day gaming downstairs at multiple games I brought my dearest friends because this place was my sanctuary, the service was A1, the team was wonderful full of enthusiasm always chatted with everyone, the atmosphere was great!! The food my god the best ramen I had ever eaten, the onigiris were big, hot and filled to perfection.. now I dont understand what happened the service leaves something to be desired, the team for the last 4 time I went was more busy talking to each other than doing anything else, we had to wait 55 minutes to be served I had invited my family I have never been so embarrassed by the dishes were cold the meat was almost absent, the onigiris were empty if I may say so and I remain kind, it was my last time from today I would no longer go there and as I told those around me everything has changed a lot and I can no longer recommend the place which greatly disappoints me, it was my favorite place in all of Sherbrooke and the surrounding area, very unfortunate.
Decent ramen restaurant with good staff. After having been there twice a year apart, I find that the quality of the ramen has greatly diminished. A striking example is beef ramen which is simply ground meat without taste. We also had a significant error in our order, fortunately the employees compensated accordingly which is appreciated. Ultimately the basic dish with choice of options is a good idea, but these basic options start to add up pretty quickly.
Nice place to get a manga but I dont recommend going to eat, expect a 35 minute wait after ordering a meal and the vegetables are not always hot
I was apprehensive about the taste of bubble tea, but it ended up being really good. To date, I have taken the BANKAI.
Very nice concept. The place was warm and with a lot of diversity to read manga level, impossible to get bored. Also their games option when waiting for our orders is varied, perfect for groups of any size. However for their food served I was a little disappointed to see that my onigiri was missing a garnish in my opinion but nothing alarming that would prevent me from coming back. I recommend everyone to take a look if you have the chance to pass by!
Trade to be encouraged! Choice of ramen noodles and wide selection of manga. The staff is friendly and does their best to accommodate different requests. We feel that café-manga is still in development.
I used to go there often before, their bubble teas were excellent, but today I went there and I was very disappointed :/ On top of that the prices have changed before it was $5 for a bubble and now Its almost $7... I hope next time I wont be disappointed.
Chill and very well eaten. The only thing to improve is that a soft-boiled egg is 100 times better than hard-boiled eggs.
I like going there for a look, but I find the food to be just okay and the manga inventory seems to have been lower for some time, which means that some series are missing issues.
I adore. This was our first date for me and my wife for our 1st birthday and our 2nd birthday we went back and rediscovered the magic of the beginning. Its worth the 1.5 hour drive just to eat Japanese food and browse manga Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options. (even if Im not)
A must-see in the city center!
The cuisine is excellent, but slightly lacks diversity for my taste. The atmosphere is the main point Why I go to this cafe/manga, the employees are very friendly and the clientele very pleasant. For the manga side, there is everything, a large library of seinen and shonen. Several shojo, and some hentai/yuri/yaoi. There are even manga series in English. Vegetarian options: More or less half of the dishes are or have a vegetarian option, and more or less a third are vegan. Wheelchair accessibility: The door is at exterior ground level.
I loved my first impression of the manga cafe the staff was very respectful and helped me and my mother really well and the bubble tea I had was delicious
A different and pleasant experience every time. Bravo, incredible concept.
It was great, lots of choice! It didnt have everything I was looking for! The kids loved it!
Everything is very good and it s a great service!
Good place and great food. Price is lil bit expensive. The boba tea is also tasty.
The food is super good and the atmosphere is really nice
Everything is excellent, the bubble tea, the ramen and the service!
Worst ramen ever eaten. Seeing the cook sneeze and not wash his hands after blowing his nose . More expensive than the menu presented online. Very bad taste, dirty table and no service. Dont have half the menu ingredients in stock. Despicable.
Star on the restaurant side -10, intimidating staff. Jan 13, 2023 11:15 a.m. man with long hair, Impossible for him to serve bubble tea... avoiding step 2 of the 3 steps! (I even told him about my allergies) I think it was a poorly programmed robot . How to lose insured customers. Another bad experience, restaurant: around thirty seats, there were 3 other customers so 27 free seats, they came to tell us to change tables!!!! We would have happily done so if NEEDED.
Super nice and friendly place, the staff at Oeil de chat are incredible!
I love going there at any time, whether for a bubble tea, a meal, a manga, sweets or to chat with the staff. They are very nice and help me a lot in choosing manga! Loyalty cards are a plus for me!
Everyone is so nice and the boba is delicious. Super fun atmosphere, too.
I didnt like it! Service becoming more and more expensive over the years. The waitress didnt help me choose a bubble tea since I knew nothing about it. Result? Disgusting and undrinkable bubble tea.
Very quiet place, with great service and people who know their product
Its a nice store with a nice variety of manga to read and buy. We were very surprised at the variety offered for novels in English. The place is very clean and the dining counter is very attractive as soon as you arrive. They also offer a section with Japanese products including the famous Buldak ramen. We were very excited to purchase some at the listed price of $4.25 per pack. When we leave the store, we realize that the price is $9.99 for the small 130g package. When it comes to manga, this is a place not to be missed. A little disappointed with the exorbitant prices. On the other hand, the employees are very helpful and attentive to your needs! UPDATE: The person in charge refunded us the amount owed, it was a pricing error. The person in question was super nice and apologized for the whole situation. We are very understandable of the mistake that was made. We are very happy with the customer service received and will definitely return. We recommend this place!
the dream place for estrie otakus
Super friendly, this excellent coffee place and the advisor is very kind
Ramen was auwful with ground beef
Really positive experience.
It would be difficult to think of a more attractive place than a place where you can get manga and eat Japanese food at the same time. Plus, I went with the lovely company of two fabulous friends! However, I didnt see a cats eye anywhere, not even in my bowl of ramen. I, who love pretty eyes and nice cats, feel a disappointment to which only the river tidal bore can compare. Finally, the sumo format, for the noodle soup, was too ambitious a decision for my sassy and frivolous stomach. Legend has it that if you eat noodles or sticky rice at the manga café thirteen times, staining the pages of a Japanese comic strip thirteen times and then get struck by lightning (which will happen without any doubt), we will be reincarnated as a black cat that all the charming young ladies of the world will hasten to scratch behind the ear and pet under the chin while admiring the cosmic reflections in its coruscating pupils. So, what are you waiting for? Go, hungry ghoul, for some tasty ramen while reading your favorite manga at Cats Eye? Itadakimasu!
At first I could believe that the bubble tea looked good, but the creamy tea was lying around in an old worn out can placed on the floor. I was served curdled milk and I was very sick . As for the rest, its up to you.
Best Japanese style restaurant in town. Ive never had such good ramen and it made me love bubble tea. Very large manga catalog. Impeccable staff and impeccable service. Not going would be a crime
Healthiness is desired.. instant ramen is better and cheaper..
Very Cool
Excellent service and atmosphere. I went there to pick up a Lufa basket, but I will return there to read and buy manga and eat a bowl of ramen!
Very friendly service and good food. Kids love it.
The soup was excellent.
Hands down the worst ramen I have ever eaten. I took 5 bites and left. The miso broth was poorly measured, far too concentrated. The noodles were extra doughy, the egg was cooked hard AND fridge temperature, as were the beef and bamboo shoots. All this for $25 I add a star for the courteous staff. That said, if you come here for ramen, dont waste your time and go to Kobo right across the street.
I am a very loyal customer of l oeil de chat and I have been going there about once a week for over 5 years. Unfortunately, in recent months, the quality of service and products has declined enormously. First of all, I want to understand that inflation is a phenomenon that currently has an impact on Quebec, but the cats eye prices have become just impertinent. For a starter and the smallest size of ramen $27. If this price were representative of the quality of the products, I would have nothing to complain about on the subject. However, this is absolutely not the case... Although it has always been simple and quick food to make, now many dishes have lost the good flavors they contained before. The ramen is bland, the eggs in it are completely cold and the onigiris are mushy and taste like soap On top of all that, the staff is becoming less and less attentive (for newer employees); see jaded. I would also like to question the health of the establishment. The cooks dont have nets and I dont know if they wash their hands often... Result: We recently found a hair in an onigiri. Finally, everything is less well organized than before. The beverage menu is complicated to understand and the theme evenings are not even announced a month in advance like before on Facebook! They are announced about a day before taking place... Personally, it bothers me a lot, because I dont have time to organize my evenings to have the chance to show up when Im interested. Even though I might have wanted to give Cats Eye 2 stars, Im giving it 3 out of nostalgia and because the drinks arent bad at all.
Superb place! Good service!
Very good place for bube tea and very good food! And a lot of choice of manga... except one of the employees who works there, she misses a lot with the customers... he just doesnt seem like hes the one to serve customers... dont talk, well, well... dont very smiling, very stupid with customers... lack of enthusiasm...
My daughters and I had excellent service and found the bubble tea very good!
Its very good! I think the dining room could use some love though. The chairs are rickety and the tables have napkins under the legs.
Super good and reasonable prices
Nice!!!
It was ok but I didnt like eating it to the point of saying it was crazy.
Stupid cook for no reason towards customers and doesnt seem to like her job...
A great place to find all your manga. Offers bowls of ramen and bubble tea on site. I will definitely try them on my next visit.
Half of the order missing. The cook seems overwhelmed with 7 customers in the place and seems not to like the octopus fritter with the raw dough in the center. Super bland onigris rice and I was told that there was no longer the kind I ordered when I received my order. The cook asks me to choose a sauce and we had time to finish our meals and I hadnt received it yet. He had it ready when we were carrying the trays. Very very very disappointing in terms of cooking and with a cook who sighs when you ask him for the missing items for which we had to pay . Like it was my fault that things were missing from my order. It s been a long time since I went back too bad I liked it before good selection of Manga and bubble tea are still good but it s not like before. The guy doing the eating really seemed to hate his job ..
Visiting Sherbrooke for the weekend, I discovered this little treasure for manga or anime fans quite by chance, during a walk in town. Courteous service and knowledge of their field from the employees/owners.
A great discovery! Really excellent food, I highly recommend it.
Well organized. Good variety of stores
The bubble tea was really good The vegan chicken nuggets suprised me, very tasty The ramen was not that good, the price is fair but you can taste the cheapness in the ingredients. They forgot to put the beef in my ramen too The staff was really kind and patient
I have been going to l Oeil de chat for a very long time and I have always been satisfied with my cravings. I think people tend to forget that its a cafe and have restaurant expectations. The Bubble tea is the best I have ever tasted, the snacks are diverse and intriguing, the access to the world of manga and West Asian culture is good. The selection of manga is very wide and the booksellers know very well what they sell. The new things added in the kitchen have really filled out the menu and I know that there is a constant search for improvement on the part of the owners and managers. I am honored to be part of the owners dream every time I set foot there.
very poor service
Very good
I like bubble teas, but I was disappointed with the ramen. Its a great place to study.
My kids (pre teen and teens) love it. Helpfull staff
best bubblr tea on the street! with many different daily ways to change up the drink, so you dont have to always get the exact same thing. Also has many many many different manga if youre into that.
Good food, service is a bit intimidating. I felt rushed to order what I wanted and the wait was long
Much better ramen than Kobo for a fraction of the price. The starters leave a little to be desired, but the soup is more than worth it!
Delicious dishes, welcoming and friendly staff. A bookstore is right next to the restaurant for fans of Japanese comics and more. The only thing for a while some meals have not been available
Always excellent, lots of manga choices
There is a nice variety of manga in French! Food wise, its a bit expensive and the service is VERY slow! The staff there was not the most courteous... example: we asked for soy sauce and we were treated to a killer look! (Am I the only one who eats wong-ton soup with soy sauce?!?). Several items/flavors were also missing: no mini moochie in the dessert but we were charged the same price for a Sunday? In short, although a member of our group loves going to this establishment, it was the first and last time for me.
Beautiful little place, really motivated and welcoming staff
Never set foot there
I adore
Being told, after an hour (literally) of waiting that they no longer have any rice and therefore we will not receive our order... An hour after placing our order and waiting patiently at our table ??? No thanks! I definitely dont recommend!
ALWAYS super fun! The place is quiet, the food is delicious and the staff is always smiling. There are certainly some lengths to get the food, but the wait is worth it and the value for money is really reasonable. I always eat way too much food (so I come out with leftovers for the next day.. oops) and my bill rises to around twenty dollars. My favorite ramen place in Sherbrooke.
I found it a very nice place to play a game of your choice.
Very nice service, anime music, nice book
The service has often been good! People who want to help. As for the food... It would be as easy and better homemade: the two things I ate: onigiri: the rice was dry and a ramen soup.. it lacked flavor it was very flat! They say that you shouldnt go there for that and if you ever see the mochi for $6 I saw it for $3 in Montreal so surely it sells for even less elsewhere in Sherbrooke q ue I don t know yet
I love this place
The meals are OK and the service too. However, the quality/price ratio is not there.
The Ramen is delicious. Perfect place for a little meal break.
Its very good and it has lots of manga
Ramen with miso broth tofu and Dé-Li-Cieux Wakamé Salad! Fast and friendly service despite the Friday lunch rush!
Impressive choice of beautiful welcome
One of my favorite places in Sherbrooke! The concept is really cool but it must also be said that the service needs work. Ive had errors in my orders almost 1 out of 2 times since Ive been going there and theres someone who works there who always seems frustrated. Not that it bothers me personally, but we dont expect that
Beautiful place. Very friendly employee.
Very happy that a place like LOeil de Chat exists in Sherbrooke: I like the atmosphere, there are beautiful products, the owner is very friendly and its my childrens favorite business, they love shopping. going there since they were 11 years old. What more could you ask for!
super good food. Affordable prices along with friendly service and polite employees
I love the place, nice quiet atmosphere and the team is very friendly! Plus their menu is delicious!
I love it, good food and good atmosphere
Really cute place, perfect for anyone who reads manga. Their bubble tea is super good!
Excellent made 3 times I order and the ramen soup is delicious
Superb customer service, we are offered quality Japanese immersion.
I love going there to eat ramen and bubble tea with my friends, its a great place when youre hungry and moving around the city.
The worst ramen I think I have ever had. The beef is the freeze dried fondu meat strips that are always freezer burnt. It came with 3 tiny pieces of chicken and 3 shrimp I didnt ask for. Also, the ramen noodles are vermicelli. I have gone there several times since they opened and I keep hoping for better and one time it was actually really good (the service was terrible...spent more time talking with their friends in the back than actually taking care of clients) but this was my first time since Covid and my last time.
Ramen taste like water
The waiter was very polite, respectful, and made several suggestions.
The really good hentai section. Page stuck together sometimes but thats life
Good time, good bento. Its not traditional or haute cuisine. But it was good, and the staff was friendly.
I love their bubble tea!!!
Beautiful place, very large selection of manga and the atmosphere is great!!! I recommend this place.
Having visited the place briefly in 2018, I returned on August 21, 2021. A huge collection of manga, a restaurant with lots of choices and options to personalize everything. There are three sizes for main course portions. My friend and I devoured our sumo-sized ramen and each drank a very creamy bubble tea. I spent half an hour with Thomas, the manga specialist, and came away with 12 mangas and the first volume of Paprika. I cant wait to devour the pages when I return from my vacation. Excellent experience, warm and passionate employees.
Best bubble tea in town and, maybe, the best in La Belle Province.
The staff says the stuff is authentic and popular in Asia... clearly a tourist trap. Some products are definitely Japanese. But others are just Asian, more specifically the drinks made on site.
Great coffee! The bubble tea and ramen are delicious and more authentic than other Quebec places I have visited (apart from Sherbrooke). I went there for dinner and the dining area is very good. To try! (Ps: my ramen is small, with spicy beef, beef broth, udon pasta, shitake and heart of palm)
The worst Bubble Tea I have ever had, i thought it would be the classic manga style Bubble Tea but it dont really have any flavor. I adore Bubble tea, was very dissapointed from this one. Plus all the people that work There seem to be White (at least when i was There) full cultural appropriation, they could at least give the work to POC.
The vegetarian and vegan options are interesting. However, food takes time to prepare and it does not arrive at once when there is a group of people. Additionally, the food is lukewarm and there is plenty of rice/noodles in proportion to the rest of the meal. Bubble tea is interesting but there should be more basic knowledge like black green tea and oolong without added flavor. Also, there are few bubbles in the tea.
Food more than becoming. The rice was full of water and the bentos were bland. Boiled vegetables without any taste. Lets not talk about ramen. The only positive point is the frozen spring rolls. All for a price of $40 The employees were friendly, but I think they should hire someone for the kitchen. Because it s one of the worst experiences, if not the worst, that I ve had at a restaurant.
Great restaurant, great ramen and Japanese dishes!
Very nice store/restaurant. The employees are smiling and passionate about their work. It is a place worth visiting.
Very nice place, the food is super good and they also sell Asian products on site! You can also rent or buy manga at the front of the store. The only thing a little more unpleasant is that there is no table service and it is poorly signposted to take our orders.
Always a good atmosphere, the food is good and the employees are great!
This is my daughters favorite restaurant, several choices of ramen soups including some vegan. The staff is original and friendly, we really liked the haunted house for Halloween.
Overall food quality is average
Love
Best manga cafe ever
Cool place to hang out and read. They have alot of Manga books but sadly all in french. You can ask them to order you english ones though so thats good. They also have a little cafe type area where you can order food like ramen, teas and bubble tea. But the service is super slow so expect to wait about 45 mins to an hour for your meal. Aside from the slow service the food is delicious.
Great service
Best place in town to drink bubble teas and read manga. In addition there is a game lodge in the basement with unlimited access for the day for only $5.
Amazing place to hang out, game and eat ramens
Very calm place full of mangas and excellent food! Sometimes it takes some time to have the order but its worth it.
The staff is super kind!
Perfect place for manga lovers! Friendly staff. They even deliver books during covid!
Excellent service, fast and efficient
Lots of options to customize our meal to our liking, large selection both to read and to consume, everyone is very well received. Very inclusive!!
Manga galore. For a few dollars you can read about it and have a small drink included. Its really cheap for enthusiasts
The owner is super happy to welcome us all the time. Of course, she is not there all the time, but her employees provide very good service. A favorite for Félix and Mathieu! Thank you for your courtesy. :)
The food is good, but the biggest strong point of loeil de chat is the atmosphere there, quiet, welcoming... Perfect for doing work or reading books!
The best bubble teas!
Always incredible service, social diversity, discoveries, +++ choice and reasonable prices! Long live tapioca
