Our meal was without a doubt some of the worst food we have ever had. We have eaten many times at the location just off Whyte ave, and the meals have always been excellent. This location in Sherwood Park.......not even a glimmer of similarity. I rarely ever leave a negative review, but this evening's meal was atrocious. We had to leave our food on the table, mostly uneaten, pay our bill and leave. We will never be back.
First, the pros. The value is high; a $100-120 takeout meal will feed my family of four for three meals. The dishes are also consistent; you know what you're getting and they rarely stray from a mostly good dish. It's highly westernized Chinese food, which to be honest works well in Sherwood Park. You're not getting traditional Chinese dishes, but that's not what they're striving for here either. I rarely get a dish that is outright bad, either; maybe a single dish every ten orders. Delivery is fast (sometimes too fast!) and the older man who handles takeout payments / pickup is always prompt and friendly. The pickup deal is amazing, too, when you consider that you also save on delivery fees and tips (I don't tip on pickup; only delivery or table service). I haven't dined in here for over a decade, so I can't speak to that experience. Next, the cons. The sauces are a bit too much at times and there's usually one dish that's too salty or sweet. The sweet and sour pork (too sweet) and the beef and vegetable (too salty) come to mind, even after considering that this is takeout food. I also wish they had more dim sum options, specifically sesame balls and steamed rice noodle rolls. That said, there's not many dim sum options in Sherwood Park so I'll take what I can get. I would love to have some traditional Chinese dishes offered (I love century eggs), but understand why they haven't offered them here yet. Maybe as Sherwood Park very slowly diversifies, so will their menu. To sum it up, Good Buddy is my go-to for westernized Chinese food in Sherwood Park. Yes, there are better options in Edmonton, but we're not in Edmonton. There are room for improvements, but they're generally pretty good. Until a new restaurant truly challenges them, they're the number one in Sherwood Park.
JUST Awful. I've been to numerous Chinese restaurants, comparable to this one- the food is Awful, horrible taste. The material on the chairs looks as if it has never been cleaned since placed in the restaurant. I felt so uncomfortable while dining. I only give one star as there is no option for zero 00000 . I would not recommend!
The food came out really fast, which I thought was great. It didn't taste good. We had chicken Chow Mein. It was soggy and tasteless. Beef and broccoli was rubbery. Rice was super dry. Spring rolls were good though!
Lunch combo was actually pretty good! First time going there and was pleasantly surprised by the portion for the lunch special. This is the one that comes with ginger beef. The food is good, the staff are very friendly, and we will definitely be going back again!
Not sure how to start… I was invited to eat here by clients, not my regular stop for dimsum. But here we go. What I tasted was good, my complain would be not a lot of choices for a place that offers dimsum. The sticky rice was not sticky, a little hard on the outside and coffee in the middle. Was kind of disappointed as sticky rice is often full of different meets and not only ground beef. Your sauces option was a plum sauce and soya sauce 🤔🤔 for Sherwood park folks this might be ok, but not in my experience. Don’t get me wrong there was some good food. Their crispy chicken was delicious And nice and garlicky. Place was clean, I think the prices were too high for what Dimsum is and what they offer. There are better choices and better priced places in my opinion. Nevertheless, you need to experience the place yourself and let me know. #chicocares

Great flavors that aren't too crazy good for anyone to enjoy but you could also request that they make it spicier if you want. Service: very nice and friendly! First thing as you walk through the door is you get greeted super enthusiastically! Service is quick and you are well looked after. They even box up your leftovers for you! At one time they had the best salt and pepper shrimp and scallops but something changed and now it is not very good. The special chow mein was better. The server was not interested in being there and it showed. We will not return.

Ordered take out for Christmas eve and was very disappointed in quality and temperature. We used to eat here years ago but based on the last two take out experiences we wont ever be ordering from here again. Super expensive for a sad meal.
I only called so could get the code for ordering on the app and get 20% off they just took my order on the phone and only gave me 15% off. I wanted 5 pm pick up they said that was too busy has to be 430. Now the food I ordered close to 300$ in food chow mein came with bean sprouts instead of noodles and nothing was cooked properly noodles under cooked vegetables might as well have been raw

The food was bland and the order was incorrect. 2 out of 6 dishes were not what we ordered and one of these dishes was disgusting. Two of the dishes that we did order were dry and cold.
I ordered food for a birthday dinner for 11 adults. The food was a low average at best. Food soaked in too much sauce, very sharp chicken bones in a chicken dish (choking hazard), no sauce for chicken balls, vegetable dish was inedible as the vegetables were severely overcooked, not enough fortune cookies and I had to make another trip back to get the sweet and sour sauce. I have decided that Chinese food is not meant to take home. It should be eaten in the restaurant when it is fresh, because the food does not hold well. I will never order Chinese takeout again, nor will I visit this restaurant again.

This spot in Sherwood Park tops our list. Its the best Good Buddy in the area. With exceptional service, delicious food, and a fantastic variety, its our go-to choice. The attentive server made us feel truly valued.
We had the ginger beef, lemon chicken and beef Chow Mein. Everything was awesome and the service was very personal and casual, felt like dining with friends.

We have been to this restaurant multiple times and have a fantastic meal every time. The service is prompt and everyone is extremely friendly. The food was fantastic, and the staff are friendly, accomodating and great with kids. Went for Sunday Brunch with the family and we didn t have to wait to get in or hunt for parking spots. Our new regular dim sum spot. Parking: Plentiful parking! Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming and accomodating with toddlers/infants and kids in general.

Dim sum in Sherwood Park!! Not the biggest menu Ive ever seen for dim sum, but they had all of the classics. We were there Sunday at 11 am and there was plenty of open tables

Food is always good, always our go to for take out Chinese. The new take out containers(sealed plastic replaced styrofoam)for the green onion cakes cause them to be super soggy on the way home, I think the styrofoam lets the moisture out as the plastic holds it in. Kind of a bummer as they make awesome green onion cakes but these containers ruin them in my opinion.

Friday night with was may 12/2023 myself and my friend went to grab some dinner as soon as we walked in we were greeted by very friendly and professional men wearing oiler jerseys , the staff were very friendly and prompt to take our order , our food didn t take long mine especially was pretty fresh with mixed vegetables, and my other dishes as well , I it was really delicious, I would recommend the restaurant to my friends and family about the restaurant .

Food was very good especially the Dim Sum. We spent the day in the OTB room to bet the races and watch the Belmont Stakes. Al, in the, my sister and I extremely well, but the food waiter pretty much ignored us. I had to find him for everything we needed. The main restaurant wasnt busy enough to warrant our poor service. Will still return because its closer than going to Century Mile Racetrack. Parking: Handicapped spots as well

Great place to eat, friendly service, extensive menu and we didnt feel pressured to order, eat and get out. Our food was hot and well seasoned. The Won Ton soup is very good. Our wonderful waiter told us it is made fresh every day. We even ran into our cousins who said its the best Chinese restaurant in Sherwood Park.
Food is so-so at best but knocked it off the list of places to try now. The many flys not making the food taste any better. Jasmine tea okay. We will not be coming back.

The Ginger Beef and Ginger Chicken were both battered, deep-fried, fried and indistinguishable. Moreover, they both lacked ginger flavour, and instead, both presented overwhelming citrus and vinegar tones.
Theyre extremely attentive and very generous to our children. It keeps us coming back because Ive never had such a kind family friendly environment. We love the food and the services spectacular.

Went for dim sum on a Saturday around 1130am. Food was fresh and came out quick. The gentleman waiting on us was kind and attentive.

We love Good Buddy Restaurant to eat in or for ordering take out. The staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome. The food quality is consistently excellent. The Peach Yum Yum Shrimp is one of our must-haves as well as their Wor Wonton Soup! Worth checking them out
Ordered online and it said it would be 45 minutes. An hour and a half later we got our food and it was ice cold. Not happy at all. So expensive for a mediocre meal.

We were hardcore fan and we came every month for hot n sour soup. This was the second bad experience. They changed the receipt or have new cook we dont know but its really bad . unfortunately we have to look for an other place.
This restaurant has went way downhill. We have been ordering out and eating in for years. Now the food is tasteless and mediocre and not even cooked correctly.

This Good Buddy location is AMAZING! They were the only location willing to modify their dishes to make the Gluten-free and Celiac friendly. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. I ordered delivery and the dumplings were cold and dry. But I can say from previous experience this is not the norm if you dine in. Their dim sum is some of the best within a days drive and the restaurant is cozy. The host is outstanding. I just wish my delivery hadnt been an hour old.

Usually good, however the evening of Jan 14/2022. They totally missed the mark, food was terrible, it was bad right as soon as we got home with it. Ate anyway because we spent over 100.00 on it, ended up getting sick in the middle of the night. Saturday morning i was happy to throw it all away. I WONT BE GOING BACK, EVER!

Usually this is a pretty good restaurant but my last experience was awful. We had placed an order for delivery and after a lengthy wait time we phoned to find out where the order was only to find out it was placed in the pick up pile. Needless to say the order was finally delivered but it was the order that had been sitting there for an hour and of course the food was cold . It is probably the last time I will use Good Buddy. From now we we stick with Yang Ming buffet. Much bigger selection and served hot!

Nothing like I remembered the place to be from three years ago! Food in my opinion is very expensive and I did not find the quality, or quantity associated with the price! The $24.00 salt & pepper mixed seafood was so disappointing, tossed it out! The lemon chicken was dry and not at all lemony! Everything that came battered and deep fried was way over battered and all dry! We picked up our food for take out, no discount for that, however no tip either. We re in the market for another restaurant.

Ordered a ton of takeaway. Called in advanced to make sure we could get some vegetarian dishes. Most that were supposed to be had shrimp or meat. Whatever I could eat (tofu for example) was so gross. Bite into it and it squishes out liquidy oil. No flavor, couldnt eat it
We ordered WAY too much food for three people - the portion sizes were generous and the prices per dish were very reasonable. Ended up taking a bunch of leftovers home and it fed us for a few days :)

So good. Had dinner for 1 and was able to substitute my chicken for prawns. Won Ton soup was so good and flavourful. Best deep friend prawns. Veggies were crispy and delicious. And the food came out hot and fresh.

My partner and I are from Vancouver and have had some pretty good Chinese food over the years. When we moved to Calgary we had a hard time finding a place we really liked. Upon moving to Edmonton we were told by a few friends to try Good Buddy. We did and we finally got the Chinese food we were missing. We have only ever ordered take out as we landed in Edmonton during the pandemic so I cannot comment on the dine in experience, the take out has been wonderful though. The food is always great, the portions are decent and they are quick. The order has always been correct and the staff have been friendly. The sweet and sour soup and the beef and broccoli are probably our favourites out of everything. I look forward to dining in opening up again and going for dim sum at some point. This is definitely a place we will keep ordering from.

Placed an order for Singapore noodles. on the menu is says noodles with vegetables in a spicy curry sauce. No where on the menu does it mention this dish comes with a protein let alone pork and shrimp specifically. I guess Im supposed to know that. Anyway. Mentioned in my order to make it spicy with shrimp. The order arrives. Ready to eat I open and notice that there is pork in the dish. I am Muslim. I called the restaurant back to let them know there was pork into he dish and the menu didnt mention that. I guy on the phone tells me I shouldve know there would be pork on it and it was my fault that I didnt ask them not to put it. No consideration with regards to menu item not being specific and no offering to reorder my dish. Very disappointed in service and quality of food. Will never be ordeing from them again.

Great service! When our take out order from a door dash app was canceled after waiting an hour, Good Buddy saved the day and had birthday dinner ready in 20 minutes - and it was piping hot and delicious!! Thank you!!
Dim sum offerings were fantastic they are not afraid to put shrimp in the shrimp dishes!Our server had a great sense of humor and made our visit feel like we had been there many times but truth be told it was our first time.We will be back.

We re a repeat customers at the South side location, tried their Sherwood Park location recently and ordered the same fried rice as usual, but unfortunately it was too dry and not all tasty. Won t try there again.

Eaten here before and was about to order for delivery and they automatically charge a 20% tip thats not for the delivery driver - no option. A $40 min is also required for delivery. delivery before taxes. I thought that was steep. Not a very Good Buddy, clearly a cheap buddy. Saigon it is - plus their reviews are much better.
Had the best in-house dinning. This was the first time I had sat down in the restaurant. Ive had the food several times and its always good. I was with my partner and child and as soon as we sat down we had water and the waiter(I think the owner) gave our daughter a shirley temple. We ordered and the food came out as it was hot and fresh and it was soo good. Beer was ice cold, water never went empty. It sucks that we lived in Spruce as we would be there more often.
First Id like to sincerely thank the owner for initially refusing to let me in because, although I had my vaccination papers, I couldnt find my I.D. I eventually found it but no way was he letting me in without matching I.D. to my vaccine papers first. So I do appreciate the fact that they take safety seriously. THANK YOU! We were a party of six who enjoyed a wide assortment of Dim Sum items from the menu. The ginger beef was amazing. We also all loved the sticky rice, pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, spring rolls, etc. Everything came with smiling eyes and our server was extra attentive to the toddler with us and gave him some candy after our meal. 5 stars, well deserved.

Came out here a few years ago for my a birthday dinner. The food was good but nothing spectacular and the staff were friendly. Only thing is this place is looking outdated unlike the one at Northgate.
Fabulous fresh hot food
Its okay if youre starving for Chinese food, but not my First Choice by a long shot food was greasy and the barbecue pork was extra fat. It was actually disgusting oh yes and expensive!!

Weve been ordering from Good Buddys Sherwood Park for about 4 years. Used to be always consistently good. The last 10 months, it has been degrading. Tonight was the absolute worst food we have ever had. Wor Wonton was much to salty and the Chicken chop suey sauce was watery and hardly any vegetables in it other than bean sprouts and a couple of green pepper slices... ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! We have now decided to move on to a different restaurant.
