We had a fabulous time! Our server and chef were great!! And they sang me Happy Birthday in English and in Japanese! So fun!
I had never been to Japenese Village and had always wanted to for as long as I could remember. Went to celebrate a friend's 50th bday...it was not great for conversation & the experience was very underwhelming. My hubby & I will not go back. The food waa decent.
I'll just say meh...not a great show.guy can't do onion tower or eggs...super waste of time.food.meh.same same. Recommend not going. Waste of money Super disappointed 😞 Waitress tried her best gave my kids ice cream. However ice cream can't make up a $100 screw up Sad times.japenese village used to good. Now it's better to catch that show in Mexico.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Or watch your husband drop stuff while BBQ same same..just put up a table and there you go.
I walked in behind miss Mara here and she was upset because she never made a reservation and threw a pity party. Food was fantastic, servers and cooks are incredible and entertaining characters, and loved the lively environment and company.
A big thank you to Japanese village from south cooking lake for all the food that you catered to us volunteers tonight it was beyond delicious
We always have a great time at Japanese Village. The service is great and the food is amazing. We enjoy watching the chef grill the food right at your table. A great place to take children as well.
I think I'll try the steaks next time. Others in our party had them and they looked fantastic.
I had an amazing experience. The staff were all very friendly and went above and beyond to give us a good time. The cook Brody put on a very entertaining show while cooking in front of us. He was very funny, very nice, and made delicious food I highly recommend it
So i drove from outta town come eat n they tell me back back not cool
Priyanka was the sweetest and most patient server. Brody was hilarious and gave my sister and i amazing birthday service. Will be back for future celebrations for sure! Thank you guys!
Not that great, gone down hill since the last visit. Lost our reservation, not good.
The classic egg soup was delicious as usual, followed with a small salad, then the cook comes out and cooks infront of you. I usually like to try something different when I go there. This time I got the a5 wagyu. It was $119 for 5oz. Portion was small but thats wagyu for ya, the cut was delicious and melted in my mouth. As always staff was very accommodating, polite, and always coming around to make sure you had everything you need. One of my favorite grub spots when I have a little extra paper.
Food was great and having your meal cooked right in front of you was fantastic
Its great fun for the kids
Gonna be honest here. First time at Japanese village. So this is a virgin review of the franchise. This place was awesome. The experience was great. The food was so good.
The GM Ten was our chef tonight not only was the food outstanding learning about the history of Japanese Village & his family was so interesting! We loved it! ~ Amanda & Artie
The waitresses were attentive and sweet, the drinks came quickly and so did our appetizers. The chef was absolutely fantastic, personable, friendly, hilarious and an amazing cook. The food was great and their cocktails were to die for. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and delicious experience.
Had a birthday supper there and it was fun and delicious, and surprisingly not even that expensive for a high end meal. The chef was entertaining and skilled, and all the staff were pleasant. Kid-friendliness: There were some small children there and their fascination with the cooking was so delightful.
Excellent meal, smaller restaurant, had a great chef
Our first time at the restaurant - Brody -- you are amazing!! So entertaining and food was delicious!! This young man needs a raise! We will be coming back just for him! Thank you so much for a great night!
Great dinner, steak chicken or shrimp. And some cool tricks on the grill.
Love this place ...never fails always delicious ..regular customer...it never disappoints... food is always on point Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly... chefs do tricks... Wheelchair accessibility: Yup
I was forced to pay a 15% tip, no questions asked. We had 4 people or more in our party and we were forced to pay a tip that I couldnt afford. I will never go back. I should have the choice as to whether I want to or can even afford to tip and what that tip should be. They robbed us on Christmas eve. Not very holiday of them and their prices are already through the roof, portions are getting smaller, time to find a new place to eat for Christmas eve.
The show is always fun night out. Dietary restrictions: They always ask if there are any. Food : 4/5 |
Smaller location but same amazing food and service!! Love it there
Pros: - Food was very good and full of flavour. - Staff were friendly and very observant on if drinks needed refills or if we wanted more rice. - A great experience to try at least once in your life. - For all the grills cooking, it was not hot or stuffy inside. Cons: - Very very expensive. - Groups of 5 or more have an automatic tip of 15% - Wait time can be a little long. Vegetarian options: Lots of options if you dont want meat. Parking: Parking is in a complex area, so you should be able to find some parking near by.
You may get seated with others at a teppanyaki table. 4 of us ordered a meal each and it is alot of food. Comes with egg drop soup and salad. Food prep is entertaining and sauces are delicious
Food was quite good, the chef was very pleasant.
Definitely top tier for me. Lovely and fun staff, and good food. Im still full 4 hours later!
Worst restaurant Ive been to for food to table time. Waited 45 minutes to get our food we finally got fed up and left. No sense of urgency on there part as far as serving their customers food
We had a group of 7 and we re seated at a hibachi table for a birthday dinner. Our waitress was very nice and did an excellent job. The hibachi chef did a decent job, but was hard to hear as he didn t speak loud enough to hear over the sounds of the grills and the fans going at that time so much of what he said was lost to some of our group. My review is based solely on the quality and price of food. The food was just okay. You got a very small side salad and soup with entrees that ranged in price from $37-$59. The chicken seemed dry and the beef was tough. Most of the people in our party agreed the food was barely average. Your money would have been much better spent for better quality food elsewhere. I don t think anyone will be going back unfortunately.
Great food and so fun. This location has four tables with a chef in the center who cooks your food. Great service and the miso mayo and ginger dip are fab. Come here to watch your chef play with your food. Vegetarian options: They are happy to cook your veggie options first to avoid cross contamination.
What a great experience! Everything was delicious and they were very helpful if I wasn t sure about what something was. The cook was entertaining and very friendly.
Went here for dinner. I give this three stars because of how pricey it is for a meal. You pay around $47-$50 for a meat selection, that comes with rice and salad and soup. And two pieces of shrimp for each person ? I can say the food is decent, but absolutely not for $50.. I understand why people want to go here for a fun dinner night out but that s really all it is. It s for the experience of someone cooking food infront of you which you can EASILY make at home. Pretty much $50 Edo. Otherwise, service was pretty good.
The food is always fantastic and consistently delicious. I appreciate that a lot. I always know what Im in for and I always love the food no matter what I order. I have been going to Japanese Village and various locations for well over 30 years now. So when the miniature version came to the Park I was quite happy. The staff melts my heart every...single...time. I appreciate the kindness and how genuine the staff is. You are really taken care of here. Drinks...always always good. I love the atmosphere at this location just simply because its a smaller more intimate version, and I quite prefer it. Very bright if need be with the large windows. Honestly, the food and service is always fantastic and I highly recommend. Thank you!
I was so looking forward to coming back to Japanese Village has always been my favorite restaurant absolutely horrible chef had long hair yes tied back but no net food no flavor was so upset as Ive been trying to get my boyfriend to go for 4 years atmosphere boring wont be going back to the Japanese Village.experience from yester years downtown Where the womens wore geisha outfits and the place was classy..
Food was amazing as always chef was funny and excellent cook we will be back for sure
We had a great time and amazing food. Made my niece feel special for her birthday. Do Mia Riga to
We had a wonderful dinner. Our cook was very entertaining, and the food was excellent. Definitely recommend it.
Good food and great service
First time experience at Japanese village and it certainly makes dinner fun and the food was great!
Dinner was fabulous. Reserved table for 6, and an automatic tip is added on to bill with 6+ people. A variety of food ordered around the table, and everyone satisfied with their meals. Steak, chicken, lobster, shrimp, and udon noodles today! The mixture of vegetables is always delicious, but I was a little sad to see there was no bean sprouts at the end of the meal. Their in house made sauces are absolutely to die for! The salad dressing is one of my favourites. And their egg drop soup has always been a all time favourite appetizer at the beginning of the meal.
Great food ,quite expensive
I really enjoyed having my sons birthday here. Staff are so great. Food was awesome. Prices are a little higher then what Im use to, but you really do get what you pay for here. Loved it.
Dinner was excellent. Chef was personable and friendly with all ages. Great experience.
Would recommend for the experience!
Hit and miss.
Absolutely fantastic! The service was unreal at this place, staff were very friendly and the service was fast and great! The food was incredible, everything was well cooked and incredibly tender. The chef we had was named Brody. He was fantastic, I highly recommend that if you come to this location to request Brody!! Excellent food and service, I will be back!!!
Wait staff was awesome, the chef was adorable and the food was delicious as always.
Awesome experience. Great food.. delightful service
A fun experience. The chefs are friendly, amusing and entertaining.
Excellent experience very accommodating . Definitely would go back.
Food are so fresh and delicious! Good services!
Greatbfood experience
I would swim vast oceans and climp tall peaks for their sesame sauce and teriyaki beef. In all honesty Ive been many a time and always enjoyed the food no matter what I have chosen. A little on the pricey side not gonna lie but if youre looking for great food and an excellent overall dining experience I highly recommend it and honestly think its worth it.
Brodie is the man and whipped up a bomb meal.
Brought the family for a birthday and we had a good time. Food is good. Like the concept of the cooking right in front of you.
The food was great although I went there for the kobi and they didnt have any, they should let the customers know when making the reservation, I think the waitress that took care of our table needs better training.
Food was decent. Service was prompt. The chef (Brody) was extremely friendly and did a fantastic job.
Really great food. Chef cooks in the grill at the table of course, was entertaining. Parking here was good. Will come again.
Very nice. Chicken and beef teriyaki, both very good and all well cooked. Parking: Shopping mall Food : 4/5 |
We usually go to the Edmonton one, but thought we d try Sherwood Park and we had so much fun! The prices have gone up in the last few years, but we got huge portions of food, enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. The whole family had a great time. service was excellent and our chef made it even more enjoyable.
Even during Covid-19, Japanese Village continues to serve amazing food with laughter courtesy of the Chef. Perhaps a few small tweaks would put this place over the top. For instance, we were rushed to order and get moving. Perhaps due to the thorough cleaning protocol following the visit or many bookings... not sure. It was suggested nicely but perhaps a bit too forward.
Excellent as always
Love Japanese village, but its getting so expensive.
delicious food
Great service and food. Best sauces too
I really loved the food and the service! 100% recommend.
This was the most expensive cheap meal I ve ever had. I have been to the downtown location 20 years ago and to one in Jamaica and this was terrible. Small portions cooked in cheap sauces. We tried salmon, shrimp, chicken and steak. Only the salmon was decent. The shrimp appetizer was maybe one and a half shrimp cooked in soy sauce. Tiny soup soup was slimy and gross and salad was a joke!! The server was Spanish and his jokes were so lame and completely ran on their own whether we smiled or not. At $50 a plate I expected a LOT more. I tried to run after we sat down as I had a strong feeling it would disappoint but hubby said to give it a chance. $200 disappointment ;) Go to La Patrona or the meditteraean near Cade haven. Even Quesada Take-Out would be better!
First time there today. Food was delicious service great and our chef was entertaining. We will be back.
Not impressed. This place was a massive step down from the original. Weve been going to this restaurant chain for 25+ years. Service was terrible. Dirty dishes left in our area allover the place. Took 40 min to get a small rice. When your spending $400+ on a dinner there is an expectation. Time to look for a new place to celebrate
I took my the teenagers here let night and we had a great time. The chef was fantastic and funny. He got the teenagers engaged. The food was great. All in all it was a great night out with a fun twist on eating out.
Been to this location twice now and the service was incredibly amazing !! Tyson was an amazing chef we had both times we came will definitely be back , he s so friendly and hilarious you can tell cooking is his true passion
Food was great Staff is very friendly Price is high , well worth it Love it
Delicious food, entertainment and service was very good. Loved it!!!
We had a family celebration there tonight and we had a great time!! Yummy food and wonderful service. Tons of fun with our chef. The only suggestion I have is that the décor isnt the greatest. Im not sure why there are several TVs on the wall. Brings down special dinner atmosphere in my opinion. Maybe the other locations are different.
Good food just didnt agree with me
Joint birthday party for myself, my twin grandsons, and my daughter-in-law. Great food.
This location was pretty disappointing tonight. We were at south location 2 weeks ago and all left so happy. But tonight the service was near to none. Drinks and apps completely forgotten about. Then when we did get drinks they were never offered another round or refills om water the table was dry. Not until our server could clearly see we were ready for bills did she ask how everything was or if we wanted tea. After raising food prices by min $10 per plate and drinks by $2 I would expect better. I dont mind paying but it should be worth it. We did not leave happy or full. Hopefully this was just a one off.
The show is good and the food is fine. Not the best teppanyaki Ive been to, but a solid choice for dinner.
Food was great, service was awful.
My family and I were on a last minute staycation and decided to visit the Ukrainian Heritage Museum. We stayed in Sherwood Park and Yelp said there was a Japanese Village nearby. If Im correct Edmonton has two JVs to Calgarys one. Its the same experience as the one in Calgary where they grill your food in front of you. We had a female chef (rarity) only one other time have I had a female, and that was in Whistler. Our chef was friendly and did a good job cooking our meals. O think she was a little new, as she was a little slow with the tricks. They have the familiar sauces, sesame and ginger. The one noted exception is that this location doesnt include dessert with your meal. Ice cream or sherbet is offered at all other JVs Ive been to. Other than that if youre familiar with JVs nothing new here. Just Teppanyaki at its best.
AWESOME!! Always exceptional service and delish!! Entertaining, excellent place for family and friends
Great food and service... the only thing was the place was too cold..seated in two different places one near the door and other under vents that blow cold air
Amazing! Food was awesome! The chief was great! And the happy birthday celebration for my father in law was awesome with some very beautiful singing! And some great cosplay for the birthday boy! Haha we all loved it!
Food here is impeccable. Amazing experience for tepennaki.
Went to Japanese village in Sherwood Park for the first time in Sat night myself my wife and our best friend . First time experiance and overall a decent one but there was a few things I didnt like which is why I gave it 3 stars .Service was good chef was friendly and funny but the problem came when there was 3 of us and another rcouole at the table .Each of the parties had one person who ordered beef while the other 3 people ordered chicken .Food was great tasting and super fresh but the 2 with the beef had their protein way before the chicken came up and all veggies were served at once which by now the beef had been sitting there a while getting cold or you had to eat it alone .I feel the chicken should have been cooked first as it takes longer and then the beef so all people are together this was a bit of a disappointing feature .also the veggies were served and there was about a scoop of each left so who ever wanted them had to say me and hope for the best ,why werent they divided equally can to start . Like I said food quality food and service but for the price should have been times a bit better not sure if I will go back .
Great food, Great experience here.
Trainee chefs
Had a great time.
Good Ramen
Fantastic! Even short handed because of covid staffing everything was great.
Staff really friendly food is AWESOME!!!!
They are always fantastic here. We are very spoiled with the wonderful service and great food.
Expensive but delicious food
Food was great and the staff and chefs were amazing. Service was great. Definately worth the money.
Service was great. Chef was even better. It was just a bit crowded.
Would not recommend ordering take out or sushi/sashimi via skip the dishes from here. Ordered sushi and sashimi as there were no other options in the park on skip, and what we received were tiny pieces of limp, flavourless salmon and the rice for the sushi was very acidic and out of proportion to the fish. I ve had positive experiences dining in and enjoy the teppanyaki (which is the only reason they received 3 stars, otherwise it would be a 1) but would not order take out or sushi from there again.
Great place!!!!
Great staff and good food. Always nice to come here.
Great food, and even better staff! They always take care of us and our toddler. We will always come back.
The food was great, and our chef was very entertaining.
Not bad. Pretty pricey for the amount of food you get. Service was ok
Cozy room 6 flat top cooking tables and a couple of booths. Just what youd expect from Japanese village. Would definitely go back.
Great food and a fantastic show. Ill definitely be back.
Staff was great
Small location, but great experience nonetheless. Food was cooked and served fairly quickly. Happy with the visit.
Excellent experience with wonderful food and great staff
Chefs are great love the show they put on. The north sask salmon was fantastic;)
Food was good but the kids liked the showmanship more when we were in Mexico.
No take out sushi.
Great service from staff, food was good. Made for a fun evening out.
Great food cooks are entertaining and friendly
awesome awesome
Great service!! Food was fantastic!
Great experience here! The teppanyaki chef was really great and I had a really great time! The food being amazing was a bonus as well!
The food was good, as most JVs are. My one-star is solely for the newly-installed speed bumps that are stupidly high and sharply angled. In a mid-sized SUV I still bottomed out. The trucks were still there with the asphalt, these are brand new on July 26th. There were three sets of them, two I could take at an angle to avoid things but the last ones I had to take them head-on. The owners of this strip mall area need to fix this ASAP. Edit: The owner has contacted the property manager and the speed bumps have been removed. Great response from JV. Updating to a 5-star to reflect the food and service.
Went for the first time on a Wednesday afternoon. The lunch was great! Had to go back on Sunday to try the dinner for the Teppan Yaki style teriyaki beef with a side of udon noodles. I was not disappointed! It tasted amazing and the show the cook did while preparing the meal was very interesting. This place now counts among my top places to eat. Thanks to the staff for an enjoyable and engaging experience.
Amazing Japanese food and friendly service. A must try in Sherwood Park.
Great place
Great meal! I enoyed the meal and the experience!
Great service and love there lunch menu
Prices are reasonable.fun entertainment too
Excellent Service and good food
It s an entertaining restaurant. Food is delicious and the waitress are considerate. Definitely will come back again.
Have not been in JP for many years. Service was great, food is tasty as we remembered! Chief skills were exceptional!
Fantastic food and lots of it. Chef was entertaining, and the atmosphere was comfortable.
Food & show was amazing.
AMAZING. Carl, our chef, was hilarious and made the experience that much better. Been to jv all over Edmonton and I can honestly say this is the BEST food I have had at any of their locations. Will definitely be going back, especially if we get the same cook! He really knows how to run the show. All the other staff was super friendly as well which added to the whole experience. Highly recommend stopping in.
Excellent place for dinner. Fun entertainment.
Super friendly atmosphere for all ages. Our chef was extremely friendly and cracked lots of jokes.
Food tasted amazing!!! Tasted just as good as the bigger locations!
Excellent service and cuisine. Wonderful night out
Food was ok. But for our money we could of had left overs to take home from elsewhere. Very pricey and a mediocre show.
We have been going to Japanese Village for years mainly downtown and north end recently started going to the Sherwood Park location, service is always great and the food is fantastic. You spoil us!!
Tasty food!
Great food!
So we had a cook at our table that wasnt Asian, and people get upset about that, dont be so silly, he was funny, cute, our food was excellent! love this place
We have been patrons of the downtown Japanese Village for many years, transitioned to the Southside store and now we have one even closer in Sherwood Park. Smaller location but much quieter which allows you to converse easily with your fellow guests. Service was excellent as we have grown to know. Will be frequenting this location.
Wicked experience good service and great food
Celebrated a birthday here great chefs liked the location
Awesome service and really great food! Will be back!
Has s birthday party here. Great place for groups of 5-10 people.
Food was great. Fun time for the family
Perfect
This is a bit overpriced for what you get if you want a basic meal. The salmon and rice with teriyaki is okay but not better than anything you would find in a quick service area. It also is stuff you could make at home. The show provided during a meal is okay. I would not recommend this place
New location in Sherwood park. Very experienced staff friendly ppl as well
Excellent experience. We enjoyed our meal here. Went with my sisters family and the food was awesome and great atmosphere. I hope to be going back soon! Also, portions were good, not one of those places where you order a meal and leave hungry. Good food and enough of it
Lots of food, service was great. Glad to have a Japanese Village in Sherwood Park
Service was ok, the chef was sub par at best, dropping utensils on the floor, jokes where lame and the young chef had no flair.(supposed to be dinner and entertainment but could not even entertain a 4 year old) and the food tasted ok but left me throwing up all night which is a shame cause I ordered the $50+ Shogun meal with steak & lobster... all in all the experience was disappointing to say the least, I did not even stay for the tea that was included in the meal.
