Amazing Food! Amazing Service! The Young Girl with Glasses and Tattoos is an Excellent Server! Went in today for Lunch and came back for Dinner just because of how Amazing she is and was! It was just her all morning and she did absolutely outstanding! Came back and she was still super Busy and doing an Awesome Job! She was taking care of 8 different tables! She is a Pro! She sat us. Took our orders. Got our drinks. Served us our Food! She was so Amazing! Number one Server at Hoys for sure!! ** Everyone needs to not be so Cruel to the Servers! They only have two feet and two arms! ** If someone tells you to take a Seat. That is YOUR SERVER. No one else is YOUR SERVER BUT THE PERSON WHO SITS YOU. So don t be Cruel to other Employees when they didn t even Sit you! Being Friendly and Respectful isn t a Crime . I work in the Food industry and how it goes; is the same person sits you; takes your order; your drinks; and your bill. You have one Server. Not 5 . So if you get told to sit by one Server. That is your Server. Not the others who didn t take your Order. Be Kind. It ain t that hard

Food was tasty but service was horrendous. Horrible customer service, rude staff, food was practically thrown onto the tables. We all had empty drinks while all the staff was sitting at a table laughing and doing god knows what. Waited over 10minutes for the bill to the point we had to go up and ask for it. VERY disappointing as we went out for a birthday dinner, If I could give a 0 I would.

There is no way this restaurant should have a 4.2 rating. Service was beyond horrible and food was bland and old. We will never return.

Not as good under new ownership. Food is undercooked and bland. Our general tsoa order was replaced with some weird spicy broccoli dish. Not impressed at all. Gave these guys a year. Still not better. Everything was old and cold. We still didnt get our general tsoa chicken.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this restaurant recently, and I must say it was one of the worst dining experiences I ve ever had. From start to finish, the service was appalling, and the food was even worse. To begin with, the staff was incredibly inattentive and seemed completely uninterested in serving customers. The dishes were bland, poorly cooked, and looked as if they were hastily thrown together. It s hard to believe a professional kitchen could serve something so unappetizing. The veggie fried rice had egg in it, and when I raised my concern, we received a blunt response that all veggie rice comes with egg (which I ve never heard of before, and if that s the case, it should be noted on the menu). Overall, this was a complete waste of time and money. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this place unless they want to be disappointed by both the food and the service.

Got an order of garlic chicken. Didnt come with a side of rice Was 12.75 plus tax and tip. Never eating here again. Should be called Highway Robbery Restaurant

Yesterday I ordered fried noodles with chicken and when I opened the ordered there were not a single pieces of chicken just plain fried noodles with little bit of capsicum and onion.

We love this restaurant it is our go to for Chinese cuisine in the norfolk area.

I bought two combo plates. 1A, the chicken balls were very doughy and almost like fish batter and the chicken was very moist. The person at the counter was like meh. So overall not the best experience.

Went to Hoys tonight (June 1/24) in Simcoe at 6:55pm and were told that they were not taking any more dine in, even though there were empty tables and they don t close until 8pm. So Blue Elephant got our business. Very disappointing as we love the food.

We visit Hoys every few months and come from out of town. The food is fantastic and always full of flavour, fresh and plentiful. The last couple times we have been we have found the service by the waitress Emily to be very abrupt and unfriendly. She is literally just interested in getting the work done fast and takes no time to engage. She dumped our 5 items on the table in under 10 seconds and was gone!! She landed our plates on the table with a crash. No offer of chopsticks, straws, refills, etc. She makes you feel Very rushed!! I think they need to know this to improve the customer experience.

Most of the times I have went there I have been met by very lovely service by grace, Brady and Alicia. But most recently I have been served by supposedly their manager but her attitude is quite the opposite! She has been very rude and makes it feel like she doesn t want our business. I sure hope the service changes because the food sure is good. Me and my husband hope it changes soon!

Had lunch here a few days ago. Still such delicious food! We both had combo plates which for the price you pay, you get an amazing amount of food. Always fresh and tasty. Our server Lisa was very pleasant and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

Being from London were a little worried when we pulled into an almost empty parking lot at lunchtime on a Saturday but were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the young man that was running the front counter and waiting on the dine-in customers was very pleasant and polite. The prices were on par for what we expected. I definitely recommend Hoys!

Lots of food, but the chicken balls had no flavor

Was very diaappointed with the amount of food as compared to the prices.Far too expensive for so so food. Ordered veg.over noodles to exclude onions,green pepper & celery. Opened up to find about 10 strips of green peppers. Underneath were noodles & only broccoli. No other veg. .What happened to the carrots & mushrooms?After this neg. expereince, will not be going back soon.

We had not had Hoys in a few years and just ordered take out today. The food is not cheap but definitely worth it! Everything is fresh and delicious and portion sizes are great. The lady on the phone was great and so was the lady who helped us when we came to pick the food up. Overall, it was a much better experience than last time and the food has definitely improved since our last visit. We will definitely be back! Best Chinese food we ve had in a long time. Keep up the good work!

Great service and food was super hot

Had dinner here tonight with a few ex coworkers /Friends. There was 9 of us in total. There was 9 of us in total.The Food was great and very generous portions. But the service on the other hand was terrible. The young girl who waited on us this evening was very rude and had a very poor attitude. She didnt even come back once to ask how the meal was or to check if we needed anything else. I usually always tip the servers when I dine out but this was my first time ever not leaving a tip. The service was so terrible I will probably not eat here again.

Really unfortunately disappointing, had dinner for two with breaded shrimp and fried noodles. Rice tasted burnt, chicken in the chicken balls didnt taste good. The breaded shrimp tasted soaked in oil, fried noodles and spring rolls were bland. It was not worth 70$ or the 50 minute wait.

The vibe was great, the food came out quickly, and it was sooooo delish. I ve heard the kitchen is absolutely gorgeous inside, and telling by the quality of the food, I can definitely tell that rumour is true. Hadn t been here since it was Jim s which was a hot minute ago, and I was really, really happy with my experience! Definitely going to take some friends and go back at some point.

Ordered a dinner for three this evening for my wifes Birthday. I ordered at 2 pm and instructed I needed it to be delivered at 4:30. I asked for a few extra fortune cookies for my son because chinese isnt his favourite, the girl said sure. Well our food was delivered a half an hour late, cold and the delivery was more than quoted. After still tipping the delivery driver we realize not just being cold they only sent 2 plum sauce and 2 fortune cookies not even enough for the three people for the dinner for three The food has changed over the years as have the portions not for the better. The beef and broccoli was good and fresh but that was all I can say about the meal. Think its time for a change. I hope you have a better experience.

We had takeout. Superbowl night food was ready and hot when we got there. Timed perfectly. Tasty and good variety.

Average fast food experience

Fantastic food, great prices, large portions - our take out of choice when we want to treat ourselves. Havent had a bad thing from their menu, everything we try has been tasty so far.

1st visit, New ownership, food was wonderful. This was their soft opening. Can not say enough good things. Egg roll, Garlic beef with vegetables, beef was so tender, Shrimp with vegetables fantastic. Cantonese chow mein, generous with the meat and noodles perfectly cooked. The Hoys rice, so much flavor. For desert had mango jelly, that was wonderful. We traveled almost 2 hours, and totally worth it. Parking: Plenty of parking

Worst service ever. My friends are sick after eating there on January 29th. Cold food, cold coffee & tea, argumentative manager who said he give us 50% off next time we come. Why not give it to us then & there. We will never eat there again. Parking: Lots

Been going here for years, Love the food. Not sure why people are complaining. It is under new management and a new team so it makes sense they are still transitioning. Ordered the new item, Satay Beef with vegetables and had that with steamed rice. Tasted amazing. Will be back again.

Ordered general taos chicken with white rice and eggrolls. Did the receipe change for the eggrolls? It tastes so much better than before! Severs were friendly, and food tastes great. Will be back for sure.

i have nothing nice to say about this restauraunt. when i went in and ordered food i pulled a chunk of hair out of my mouth. the food was so bland i couldnt taste the difference in anything i ordered. i will put an exception to the rice which tasted like cigarette smoke. when i asked i was told it was from the smoke from the burners. if this is a new sanitary restauraunt under new management i would think the kitchen would be clean enough to not have a smoky taste in the food. i was later told by 3 people that have worked there that they do, in fact smoke in the kitchen. they just had their grand reopning but their sauces are expired by a few months. this place is GROSS!!!! also replying to your response. i do know infact you smoke in the back because i know 3 people that work there that confirmed that you do. i understand defending your restauraunt but when i have more than one eye witness that have seen you smoke in the kitchen it doesnt add up. you also cannot deny me what i tasted in the food that i ordered. but you also dont seem the type that follows the customer is right and the customer should be happy with their services and to add on its funny how you got your own employees to write a bunch of good reviews after i posted this. this is a joke

The dinner for two was hot, fresh and tasty. The servers were attentive, but perhaps a little haphazard. The decor seems a little dark and monotone.

I ordered yesterday, food was delicious I will say that. Only complaint I have is my spouse got a bone in his wonton and he broke his tooth which there shouldn t be bones in. So I called to just simply let them know of this event. The person who answered the phone said he would get the manager then I heard the manager arguing and the person came back on the phone and was like uh ya were really busy so he can t take the phone call but he sends his apologies and I m like this is how you run your business? Really? He s like I m just the messenger don t shoot the messenger. I understand you re busy, but you could have took my number down and returned my call later.

Called and placed an order for delivery at 3:47. Was told it would be 20 to 25 minutes. At 5:50 I called back and they said they lost the order and it would be another 20 minute wait. Called back at 6:15 to find out where my order was and was told that they tried to delivery to the wrong address. No one called me to say anything or ask if the address was correct. Worst service ever. Was also told that the only credit I could get would be for two free drinks and two free desserts if I ever went in and ate. Which in 3 years hasnt happen, I just order delivery. Not happy at all.

I am very disappointment since Hoys reopened in February of 2023. I feel it has changed quite a bit since the new owners have taken over. The Food isnt the same as before, They are always messing up My order, missing items. The staff are rude, When You ask them a question they are short , snippy, Have no patience. ( That has happened twice ) & their conversations are more important than the Customers. I am not one to complain about a business, but I couldnt let this pass because Hoys was a place I always enjoyed going to.

Food is delicious but watch the pricing on the online menu, ordered a choice dinner for 4 on the menu it says 54.00 the actual price is 65.00!

Ordered 1B combo. Supposed to have veggies and almonds. No almonds to be found. Asked waitress. Response was they had no almonds and the kitchen just didnt bother to tell anyone, so they served us without saying anything. She said hopefully we will have some the next time you order. There will not be a next time. You people dont deserve it. We shouldnt have left a 15% tip . We will never go there again.

Short review: Really good Chinese-Canadian food experience for a small town. Everything we ordered was tasty and I would recommend coming here (& will come back myself), without hesitation though be aware that if you re looking for fortune cookies, they don t have them.

Wow what a change, use to be good, not so much know and never again. Where are the veggies in the veggy fried rice, terrible. The Hoys special lo mein, its special especially bad! Found a piece of plastic in it, looked like a piece of the noodle bag. Use to have lots of different proteins not know you could count the pieces on one hand. Again I will never darken that door step again.

Dined there for the first time a little bit ago, was not expecting it to be so calm and cozy inside. Wasn t busy, and mostly older folks. The waiter was very polite and had a good attitude, the food was brought out by the chefs which was pretty cool. Not to mention the food was amazing, HUGE portions. I usually always finish my meal and have room for much more but I could only eat half before I had to get a takeout box. Food was a great price as well, only $11 dollars for what I got. Amazing price for basically two tasty lunches. 10/10 would dine here again!

Very disappointed in the chicken balls they were overcooked and hard batter as well as the deep fried wings , totally different batter, and maybe undercooked.. we werent impressed with the shrimps either. We have never experienced any of this in the past, were always happy with our order.

The waitress was very friendly. The food was very delicious and the right temperature. The restaurant was very clean and very well organized. It was a wonderful lunch time experience.

Sept 29, 2023: To-day was my first time going to Hoys in Simcoe. I live out of Town, my GF took me. She found this lovely Gem of a place. The food was fantastic, our Waitress (Lisa) was fantastic, so sweet and helpful. Atmosphere was lovely. Staff so friendly and polite. Great experience. Will definitely be returning.

Picked up takeout , they forgot my sweet and sour sauce for my chicken balls and egg rolls had no flavor, the rest of the food was below average .

Takeout dinner for one and BBQ pork lomain ,was awful, we tossed it. Egg rolls werent cooked, the filling was hard. Wish I didnt leave a tip. Will not return!

Got home late from work with girlfriend. Had to get food quick and they closed in half an hour. Receptionist was cool and chill with the order even being so late, the dude at counter was super easy going. And when we got home it was the best chinese weve ever had. You have to try this place since they revamped. It is so good. Also they use real chicken in their chicken balls. Godlike food here. Will be back soon

Firstly we were all up all night with stomach pains after eating this.The egg rolls tasted old and undercooked. The chow mein and beef broccoli had so much salt in it, it was unedible. Wonton broth tasted like water. We wont be back here.

Was not pleased to have to pay extra for tea and coffee. I was a large group who booked for a buffet, tea and coffee was supposed to be included.

Meh, have had twice now and found both times underwhelming, Nothing terrible but all the dishes we had both times were just bland to be honest. I figured the first time was just a one-off so we had it again with different dishes. Both were just okay at best. Guy walking around in there seemed a little arrogant but the lady working the cash was very nice and friendly, almost like she was embarrassed by his arrogance, Hoping to find another Chinese food restaurant to love in Simcoe. Probably won t be ordering again.

Food is good except fried rice leaves a lot to be desired. There is almost nothing in it other than the rice. Might as well stick with the steamed rice that comes with dinner. Love their General Tao and most other dishes. Take out orders are plentiful.

Love hoys! Always stop in when Im in simcoe. Wish I lived closer their general Taos chicken is fantastic and if you like a little extra spice ask for their chilli oil. (Be careful it is extremely hot but tasty)

I have always ordered from here and loved the food. tonight aug 19 I called to order takeout and the lady told me they are to busy to take orders and said can t help you and hung up on me while I was speaking. Rude rude lady!

Really nice Chinese restaurant near Port Dover. Skip the one in Port Dover and come here instead. Nice freshly painted and updated interior with newly upholstered bench seats. Separate room at the front for private gatherings. Food was excellent with large portions. Came in nice steel miniature wok style dishes. Food came out piping hot. We didnt have to wait for service.

Absolutely amazing service from Tonya. Food was fresh, plentiful and delicious. This was NOT your average Chinese food restaurant at all. A new fave for this type of food. We will be back.

Mediocre at best. Kung pao doesnt have broccoli and peas but does contain thai chilies. Only place Ive ever seen get it wrong. They are too lazy to make it right. Will not be back.

Love this place! ordered takeout for work today for our staff meeting and Howie is always so accommodating! we ordered roughly 10 lunch combos and not only was every order done correctly, he also labelled the bags and containers with the employee names to make distribution easier. The food was delicious as always, great priced for the portions and he wouldnt even let me leave a tip! I highly recommend ordering from here if youre looking for good, local Chinese food. We will be back (soon hopefully!)

Not impressed. My order is here finally, a hour after they said I would be. They messed up and made my order with mushrooms, when ordered with out, due to a allergy. They sent all food with mushrooms. They then said they would take it back, and bring me new. This took over 35mins to get here. Now half my order is cold. They sent chicken fried rice, when I ordered Cantonese fried rice. So not only did we still pay the full price of over $115.00 but we got ripped off for the difference of the rice we ordered. Tried to call but they wont answer the phone when they close at 8, they stop answering the phone at 7:30 I guess our order should of been here at 7, now its 8 and were finally eating a half cold meal. Not impressed we wont be back.

Absolutely horrible! The chow mein is 99% bean sprouts and no noodles. The ginger beef is more of a raw vegetable beef soup mixture. Gross!
