They are take out only right now so atmosphere doesn't apply. The green curry was good although the rice portion was quite small. My husband didn't really like the pad thai. Their prices are VERY reasonable. Worth giving it a try!
I would give it a zero I ordered meal for 2 chicken balls were pink inside the noodles were stuck together when I called to complain they said they would give me my money back they when I got here they said it was a vain 3 workers started yelling at me that I was crazy a drug addicted which I don't even do them that I don't know how to eat meat lol they took my food back into the kitchen which is a no no to health standards they went off saying not giving me my money back started swearing again it was so bad we had to call opp to get our money back and we did the opp actually told us they been there a few times over things like this..
I found bone and grizzle in several of the so called “spare ribs” (which are fried dough covered pieces of low grade pork). This was the most horrible dining experience of my life…bar none..,
Their crab Rangoon is the best ! Love trying the Thai dishes also. So good. The Chinese food is definitely not as good as i remember it being over a year or 2 ago. 2024.
Absolute rubbish. TL;dr: Mediocre at best when on thier a-game. Do NOT order sweet & sour ribs. We've ordered here twice in the past; once many years ago and were heavily underwhelmed, so we'd avoided them for years. We tried again last weekend, and had a so-so experience. Thinking perhaps the dishes we ordered were just not to our taste and perhaps they have others on the menu that would be better. Oh God, was I wrong. Today we ordered two dinner combo plates. (Both with a Spring roll & Cantonese noodles. One with chop suey and soo guy w/ almonds & another with sweet & sour spareribs with chicken vegetable almond.) • Springrolls were greasy as could be, and had small odd-flavored specs of what I think was Meat? (Pork, ground shrimp? I honestly could not say) • The noodles were dry and tasteless, no sauce or seasonings to be found. • veggie almond was passable, but is clearly the "Combo plate version" as the full dish version id tried the week before was far fresher and had less of the B cuts and onion filler • chop suey was underseasoned but seemed fresh enough • soo guy was soggy and overbreaded, cut into four uneven chunks with only one having almond slivers on it. Which brings me to the cherry on top of our, until this point simply lackluster, meal. The sweet & sour spareribs. I use the word spareribs loosely. They looked like chicken balls, covered in a THICK layer of beerbatter. All had nearly no meat under the batter, and those that appeared to have meat were truly just riddled with bone shrapnel. Now, being spareribs I'd expect bone. Seeing as these were so breaded you cannot tell what you're looking at, i'd wager that they should be boneless or have ONE or TWO bones that could be easily seen and eaten around. These were batter with bone chunks throughout and a spatyering of pork. Ribs should never be breaded, its a safety issue. My husband went back to the restaurant after we'd given up on eating to ask for a partial refund or % off a order in the future should we try them again. The owner said this dish was served as intended and that the bones are 'cooked' and safe for consumption. (Tried cutting one with a steak knife, they very much aren't) They offered 10% back... we'd given a 10% tip when paying. This was the 'entre' portion of half the meal, in which I ate none of because who in thier right mind would eat beerbatterd bone shrapnel covered in s&s sauce? 0/10 on customer service 4/10 on food (if I'm kind and ignore the existence of the sweet and sour breaded bone nonsense)
Got sweet and sour spare ribs. For some reason they come breaded with bones in them. 90 percent bread no meat and 2 massive chunks of bone that I almost broke a tooth on. Confronted the owner and she said they always come that way and she was only willing to comp for 10 percent off my next order even though I gave a ten percent tip. Unless you want to have shattered and chipped teeth I would avoid this place at all cost. Will be reporting them to the health department. Decided to rip some apart when I got home and apparently this quarter inch wide and 1 inch long chunk of bone is edible because the completely covered it in batter.
Good Quality food and decent arrangement for dine in. Price is decent and staff is welcoming. For the small town it’s good place to get some Asian food.
Visited Port Dover over the weekend. My companion & I craved for a chinese cuisine & chanced upon this restaurant. We ordered appetizers, curry chicken & stir fried vegetables for lunch. It was delicious! Perfect when we ate at a table bench outside our hotel. Definitely recommended. Friendly counter lady person. Prices are fair as well.

Order was messed up and items ordered missing. Spring rolls very over cooked. Garlic pork extremely hard and over cooked. One dish have no idea what it was, definitely something we didnt order. Possibly just a bad night or over busy as normally the food is very good
I have been working my way through their gluten free menu over the past year. Everything Ive had was hot and fresh with crispy veggies. Vegetarian options: Mixed vegetables with Tofu is delicious. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free choices are highlighted in pink in photos. Its so nice to have so many choices!

The worst customer service. The food was terrible and the owner was so rude she raised her voice at me when I called to complain about the items ordered. This restaurant hires inept employees with zero customer service skills. Avoid it if you value good food and your money.
Ordered a Thai green chicken curry and it was great! Big portion for one person, it was spicy and tasty as it should be.

Ordered for Mothers Day. My mothers sweet and sour spare ribs were coated with a thick soggy breading. Inside was essentially nothing but sharp, shredded bone fragments. They were dangerously inedible and had to be thrown out. Extremely disappointed my mother received that garbage for her Mothers Day dinner. I will never go back.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. First off they have no website so you go to their Facebook page that has a 2013 menu on it so prices are actually double now. 2nd egg roll so dark like it was cooked before then dropped in oil again, hardly any filling. Then my boyfriend gets what looks like chicken balls when he ordered sweet and sour ribs. Bites into one and almost breaks his tooth on a bone. Zero meat on the bone. None. When I called the restaurant the lady told me she made our order herself and if I dont like their food I can go somewhere else. I wish I could attach pictures, its pathetic. $40. Dont waste your money.
Very good Thai and Chinese, very consistent. Always hot fresh and tasty. Thai Green curry chicken, House special w/ pad Thai and Chinese dinners are great. For people who I see complaining about too much batter on the chicken balls, they also sell Tai Shan chicken balls that have thin batter so that is simply the customers choice and not a valid complaint, I prefer General Tao chicken. Thai Basil Beef is also very good. It may not be the best if you want to customize the items within the specific dishes but that isnt an issue for me.
Love their Chinese food , however ordered the pad Thai tonight and let s say we won t order it ever again . Not the first time we have tried their Thai and it s just very basic and not tasty at all .

The best pad thai in Norfolk County.
Not sent with rice for dinners that required it- I was left having to go back out to buy food for my guests as restaurant closed at 8. When I called they are not willing to replace the item with rice the dinner was not eaten and could prove- offered 10% on future purchase which will not make up for the 16 plus tax that was not enjoyed. Disappointed with customer service - food we ate was great - check your order before you leave ! First time and last time we will buy from there though amd will not recommend for above reasons-

I came in here with my father initially. Perfect food. I came back a second time with my friend and bought more myself. It really hit the spot. Kawp Koon? My translator is tired. Perfect! We had the chicken balls with rice and sauce, and I had the eggplant zucchini dish. 10/10

Decent food, not the best pad thai, but the beef + veggies is very tasty. Mango chicken, although heavily breaded, has nice sauce. Website is down, and although some employees pretend it still works, have been assured it is a known issue. Friendly staff. No updated menus online, so be aware that prices are probably $2-4 more than what you were able to see/find online.

Every time I stay at Simcoe I can not and will not eat at any other restaurant than Tai Shan Express. The sesame chicken is the best and only chicken there is in Simcoe. I refuse to eat anything else other than sesame chicken. They dont call me the chicken man for no reason you know.

Suffering from food poisoning. I was the only one who ate from this establishment and I am suffering tremendously from food poisoning. When I was eating the dish I noticed something was off about the dish but it was too late and I had stopped eating it after I noticed the off taste. I understand that this is a very busy location, but food quality cannot decline because of demand of food. So very sick
I was visiting Simcoe and decided to try the Asian cuisine. I was enjoying the spicy sesame chicken, suggested by a VIP customer who calls himself the chicken man. The sesame chicken was great, and Ill make sure to buy it again if I ever meet the chicken man.

Best Chinese food around and it s not really close. Very generous portions for the price. Got the $12 dinner for one and it was fantastic and lots of food, the only slightly less than stellar item was the egg rolls which were just ok. Aside from that, this will remain our go to for Chinese going forward and look forward to trying more from their menu.

Ordered take-out from this restaurant a few days ago. I had never had their food before and wanted to try it. Although everything I ordered was tasty and the portion size was good, the beef in the Beef with Broccoli dish I chose was tough and chewy....like bubble gum. It spoiled my first experience with this place. Tai Shan Express obviously uses inferior cuts of beef. Not in a hurry to return.

We were in Simcoe to run an errand and decided to try this place because the reviews were decent. We paid extra for meat choices we wanted and got 7 pieces(I counted) of over fried chicken in our food. That was extremely disappointing but then my husband got food poisoning. Save yourself the drama and eat elsewhere. Spent $30 for small portions as well. Food tastes mediocre at best. Definitely will not return.

Went for an early dinner. As always the menu is extensive, the food fresh, great taste and plentiful. Although there we were only 2 of us, and we only ordered 3 dishes, there was enough to feed 4, which we took home for another full dinner. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Called to order a lunch special for delivery for the first time from work. Order was taken from me but she hung up before I could even leave a name or address to deliver. Called back and specifically made sure to ask that they deliver the food with utensils since I am stuck at work with no cutlery. Of course the order came with NO utensils. (very hard to eat Chinese rice and vegetables with your hands). The sauce was dumped all over the chicken balls instead of on the side making everything soggy by the time it arrived. The rice was not very fresh tasting and looked quite burned and just not very fresh at all, same with the rest. The best part of the experience was the super friendly delivery service (Dependable Delivery) who for the same price of my lunch meal delivered it faster than expected. Too bad I cant eat it until I get home now to a fork... :/ The customer service on their end is sub-par and the food not much of a runner up. Will never be ordering from here again.

A very pleasant surprise! Intended to eat in Port Dover but it was so crowded we headed into Simcoe only to find several restaurants closed. Decided to try Tai Shan as we love Thai food and it was delicious!! The server was friendly, polite and kind. Portion size great for value. Will definitely go again.

I got a combination plate with noodles, chicken vegetable almond, and sweet and sour shrimp. Im very disappointed and underwhelmed. The noodles were soggy and bland, the chicken vegetable almond had 3 almonds in it, and the shrimp wasnt even sweet and sour shrimp. It was tempura shrimp which was also soggy. I asked the girl twice if the shrimp was the sweet and sour shrimp and she said yes. I had ordered sweet and sour shrimp from here before and it was the regular batter breading with a full shrimp inside, not a tiny thread of shrimp with tempura coating, which by the way they charge you $2 extra (for 4 shrimp). They should at least be honest and state on the menu that its tempura shrimp for the combination plate. The whole thing came in a regular take out container. Usually if I order a combination plate from a Chinese restaurant it will come in a divided container with 3 sections for each dish. Very un-inspired and bland food. I wont be returning. A big waste of $14.

There is not a lot of options in Simcoe for Thai food. Its not fantastic. Lemon chicken is underwhelming. But it gets the job done if you need Thai food. You get a lot of food and it can last you a couple of meals :)

Got the egg rolls, pad Thai and Chinese fried dumplings. Heard the egg rolls were made fresh not frozen. Don t know about that. Everything tasted awful. I felt awful after. Won t be going there again.
