758 Route 310, Souris, PE C0A 2B0, Canada
Rustic-chic rooms, some with bay views, in a refined inn with an upscale restaurant.
I came here for the Fireworks Feast on Sunday. It was fully booked online, so I figured I would try my luck in person in the morning and I'm so glad that I did. What a magical experience! Fabulous weather, sights, food, and company. What more can you ask for? Maureen (I think that was her name) at Guest Services was wonderful and gave me the pro tip to come early so that I could walk the beautiful grounds (not all of it is included in the farm tour) and to pace myself with the food. I got back there a little before 3p and was most hospitably welcomed by Patrick. I almost made it through all the trails and still made the farm tour at 4p. Head Farmer Kevin was amazing. I love his vision, passion, and restorative/sustainable agricultural practices. Sous Chef Matt and team were also amazing. Like with Kevin, their passion exudes from their work. You can glean all sorts of fun facts from them like why they smoked the salmon with birch or how they procured their Gouda while you go through the stations during oyster hour. You can definitely stuff yourself silly even before the dinner, so it's definitely not like one of those fine dining experiences where you wanna order a pizza right after. And, bonus, you get to make a new friend or two. While I didn't stay at the inn, the people that I spoke to that were staying there raved about their rooms and the breakfast.
Really enjoyed my work retreat here. Stayed at the inn just a few minutes down the road, but that didn't take away from anything and I enjoyed both properties. The best part was the food and service - from the breakfast to the "feast", it was a real fun experience. The spirit and ethics of the place really permeates through everything. My room itself was quite nice, with a classic style (think chandelier) although make sure you close the drapes on the top floor or someone can see into your room!||One caution for business folks - there is no boardoom here!||Because I went on a work business trip (and didn't pay anything) it's hard for me to know if the experience is worth the cost but I think if you stay here with the mindset that this is an "experience" not just a place to sleep, it'll be worth it.
Attended for the fireworks feast, one of my favourite culinary experiences. Great food, you leave stuffed, a wonderful grounds to wander and indulge with family or a partner, wonderful tour, and a really well paced evening. At the price point, I would request a couple adjustments in the future - please clearly price your wine glasses at cocktail hour as you do your cocktails (it was a surprise to find out that the two glasses on offer were 2-3x the price of a cocktail only when paying) and consider telling guests which cocktail hour appetizers are time limited (based on small lines that come up, we missed some great looking options). I’d welcome the opportunity to spend more money by taking home any baking or preserves to family members that couldn’t make it.
This was an absolutely magical experience for my family and I, getting to meet so many incredible people including chef Michael Smith and having the opportunity to eat one of the most delicious farm to table meals we've ever had, it was truly incredible! If you are on the fence about the cost of this dining experience, I can assure you, the food and experience far outweigh the cost! all of this and on the backdrop of a beautiful bay and gorgeous grounds! It is an absolute winner! Thank you so much Chef Michael and team! The Myles'
Stayed in the South Tower, although well appointed, the room was tiny. Experienced The Feast: the farm tour was quite informative, the appetizer hour tasty and the actual feast meal quite good. But cost of extras took the edge off as well the breakfast was uninspiring and served cool. For 1 night for my wife and I: the room, Feast, 2 beers, 2 gin & tonics, 1 flight of wine = $1250.00. Interesting experience however, mediocre value.
Beautiful inn on stunning grounds. The service was great, and staff so friendly. We had called to see whether they would be able to check us in early, as we were part of the fireworks feast that evening and wanted to have time to relax and get ready before. (Check in is at 3, and the feast tour begins at 4). They said they would see what they could do, but unfortunately our room was not ready until 3pm anyway. They offer you a different treat everyday which was a nice touch. We stayed for the fireworks feast which is pricey but so worth it! The accommodations were good and the room was beautifully finished, although the room itself was tiny! There was not enough space to have both of our suitcases open at once, unless we used the bed. The grounds are stunning and I loved how mindful they were about their farming practices and respecting the earth. Overall, it was an incredible experience.
We stayed 2 nights in one of the veranda rooms. The room had a nice sitting area and was very spacious. The bathroom was well appointed, great towels and again very spacious. The bed was comfortable and they have a turndown service at night. Breakfast is amazing...they start you off with a trio of juice, smoothie and yogurt with granola topping/fruit. You have an option of 3 different hot breakfasts - huge portions. There's also a selection of pastries (cinnamon rolls, 1 type of muffin, scone). They accommodated us for breakfast a few minutes early one morning as we were heading out to golf. Service was very good.||It's very expensive but this was our only splurge on a one month trip to Newfoundland and PEI.
We came here for the Fireworks Feast. It was 5 hours of spectacular fun. The atmosphere was lively and the food was so fresh and delicious; farm(and bay) to table. Best oysters. Farm tour was informative and who doesn't love a cute dog to pet. Loved socializing and laughing with the other diners. Don't skip out on the special marshmallows! Chef Michael Smith is pretty cool 😎. I would come back to PEI just for this.
We had an incredible experience her! Enjoyed every minute and the food and atmosphere were out of this world. We would go back!
What an experience. This was an epic event and one we wont soon forget. We can only imagine what staying at the inn itself would be like, if the feast experience was off the charts. From the moment we got on the grounds, to the farm tour, to the pre-feast event, to the meal, to the amazing wine pairings (sommelier knew her stuff), to the dining experience with new friends, to the bonfire ending - it was A++ . The staff all genuinely appeared to be thoroughly enjoying their jobs and this resonated during the entire time here. It was so well worth the money we spent - we left educated, stuffed, and beyond satisfied. Getting to take two bonus cucumbers with us too - topped of the evening (a story for another time). Trust me - if you go here, you will have zero regrets.
Building a house, planting a tree, giving birth to a child and having the dinner of the century at celebrity chef Michael Smiths Bay Fortune on Prince Edward Island are some of the essential things in life. This evening was a once in a life time experience: first trying snacks such as oysters or autumn olive paste in the garden of the extensive farm, then for a five-course meal in the main house. The culinary madness. And an incredibly friendly team that works together perfectly.
Even though weve only eaten breakfast here today (the dinner is tonight), it has been an amazing experience! The breakfast was, as expected, absolutely phenomenal. From the small baked goods to the meal itself. Absolutely to die for. Rooms: Cozy rooms, with plenty of natural light, an electric fireplace and beautiful bathroom Food and drinks: This is, undoubtedly, the reason most people stay here. Everything weve had so far has been absolutely incredible
A culinary experience and education you will carry with you the rest of your days. Amazing staff. Disney Land for the palate. Food and drinks: Nothing compares.
Amazing Place .....
These people care deeply about you and what they re serving you. I experienced tears of joy, not only by the amazement of their careful farming practices but also their dedication in the kitchen over real wood fires. The hospitality also was a cut above. Bravo all the way. After having such an uplifting experience, I read the poor reviews of this place and can only assume some sort of vacuum in the lives of these reviewers so powerful that they are unable to recognize what is right in front of them- absolute excellence.
I didnt stay at the Inn, but I did come specifically for the Fireworks Feast. This is not just a restaurant experience, but a holistic farm-to-table culinary JOURNEY, one-of-a-kind, that I cannot recommend enough. We were fortunate enough that the evening we reserved was beautiful and warm (I am not sure what the protocol would be in the event that there is rain or cold weather). The evening started with cocktails on the front lawn (I had the lavender lemonade, garnished with fresh flowers from the garden). We were then taken on a tour of the gardens and farms by head farmer Kevin, who provided a fascinating and thorough overview of the Inns intentional farming practices, which focus on sustainability and are driven by solid environmental and agricultural science. The tour was followed by an absolutely delightful outdoor oyster hour, which included not only unlimited raw oysters (three exquisite varieties from PEI including from the Inns own oyster farm in Bay Fortune), but a number of other stations with fire-cooked delights (oysters roasted in butter, tuna tataki/pork tacos, maple smoked salmon bites, bluefin tuna skewers, and corn ribs with chicken skin). Everything was cooked to perfection and it was difficult to restrain myself knowing that the oyster hour would be followed by a five-course meal). The whole concept of having outdoor food stations was so novel, and we learned that guests can opt to only participate in this portion of the evening which I might try at another point in time! After the oyster hour, we toasted with sparkling wine on the front lawn before heading in to the Inn for the main attraction. The dining area itself is spectacular... It was colourfully decorated, chic, and convivial. The diners are dispersed in different rooms but the tables are (for the most part) set up family style which added to the warm and vibrant atmosphere. The meal was then served, starting with bread (accompanied by three different spreads, my favourites being the whipped maple brown butter and lemon lime basil fresh cheese). This was followed by the chowder, which was not too heavy despite being very generous with the seafood. Next was the Earth Plate and shared harvest bowl, which is essentially a bowl of all of the days harvest and forage (super vibrant and fresh, not to mention Instagram worthy). Thankfully there was as a bit of a break before the meat and potatoes dish. We enjoyed watching the fire brigade cooking the meal over the fire in the kitchen and taking in the infectiously joyful atmosphere of the restaurant. The main course was smoked beef brisket and oxtail, both of which were tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. There were tons of leftovers so we were fortunate to be able to bring a big box home with us! For dessert, we were served a lovely puff pastry with marigold buttermilk ice cream and compressed apples, which was a perfect way to end the meal (not too heavy and perfectly balanced). We were also given a skewer with a raspberry marigold marshmallow to toast over the fire outside. Everything about this experience was spectacular, but I think what really struck me was how happy all of the staff seemed to be about working there and how passionate they were about their work. This really came through in the service, and was really pivotal in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I know the price ($255) might seem steep at first glance, but considering all that was offered to us, I find the value for what we got was exceptional (this price also includes gratuities). My only regret was not meeting Chef Michael Smith, who is the first celeb chef that I ever followed back when I first graduated university, and whose recipes gave me the confidence to start cooking on my own. I plan on going back next year for my anniversary and I already cannot wait!! Food and drinks: Fireworks Feast is a must!!
Love the inn atmosphere staff food
Food and drinks: Was absolutely the best . All food .veggies herbs etc Are grown there. Very knowledgeable about eco systems. Was wonderful presentation loved staff . Service : 5/5
The head farmer, Kevin, and Chef Michael Smith gave a fascinating and intimate tour of the farm before serving an incredibly delicious meal! They and their team hit it out of the park!
Excellent food and services.
Best place ever! The food was beyond delicious and everything was fresh, creative and the service was amazing! There isn t one thing I would want to change! There is even a trail to walk if you wish! Rooms: The rooms were beautiful and clean with even heated bathroom floor and complete with a Dyson hairdryer if you wish. Food and drinks: Fine dining and absolute perfection! Local beer is a wonderful touch! Local everything actually!
Incredible dining experience. The food was exceptional. Rola, our server, was amazing. She made the experience even more special. I would highly recommend an evening ate fireworks.
Legendary service and food, very unique experience of the highest order. The Culinerd
Fireworks feast review: 10/10 experience, from start to finish. They ve created something really special here, and I feel so lucky to have been able to participate. A truly unique experience
This tour and dining experience was very different from any others before. This farm is an example of good practices to keep for the future of agriculture. Its also a real pleasure to taste local products with such a lively open-air kitchen. The decor is enchanting and all the staff are friendly. Very photogenic place too. To have !
Very interesting farm tour.
First off, this place is expensive. But I can honestly say I wasn t disappointed! Chef Michael Smith has created an amazing experience. If you re not much of a foodie and don t enjoy trying new things, this may not be the place for you. All the food was delicious. The room (crows nest) was rustic with a modern touch. The view from the room was great! Look forward to returning. Note to guests booking the crows nest. It is a few flights up, so if your mobility is an issue, you may not want this room. Also, it s very bright in the morning due to all the windows and skylights. If you don t want to wake up with the sunrise, bring an eye mask.
Always a wonderful experience! The food is consistently delicious. Chef Michael is gracious and the staff is amazing! One of my favorite places to go!!
Learned alot about farm to table practices. The atmosphere was beautiful. Wonderful team working together. We enjoyed our meal. It was a wonderful experience!
This was an experience of a lifetime! Thank you to Michael Smith, Chiefs, front staff, farm hands, servers, and room staff, for a night we will not forget. We will be back with no hesitation. Its not all about food but how to farm and create flavors you have never tried. The 5-hour experience flew by without a hitch. The next morning, when you go for breakfast, your experience does not stop. You get enjoy lots of great food with great staff. Cheers!
Best place in PEI. We had a lot of great food and a great time staying there.
I just have to say this was one of the greatest food experiences I ve had in my life. I m so grateful to have had the opportunity to eat at Fireworks. The farm tour, the oysters and the dinner were so interesting and beyond what I could have imagined. Thank you Chef Michael Smith, Kevin, and the rest of the team. What an incredible and special evening that I will never forget!
There are not enough words to express what a fantastic retreat this was! The food is out of this world. The satff are beyond hospitable. We never felt like a burden. Everyone was always smiling and willing to help or strike up a conversation. The farm tour and supper was one of the best experiences of my life! It turned me into a seafood lover! Come hungry and with an open mind. What chef Michael and his fire crew are doing is amazing!
For the Inn: impeccable service, welcoming atmosphere, definitely 5 star treatment. For the FireWorks Restaurant: Food was delicious and delightful, the tour before hand really made you feel part of the experience. The guide Emily was informative and lots of fun, and Chef Micheal Smith was present at our meal and oysters hour, he was very pleasant and excited for everyone to try everything. I would 100% recommend this experience to everyone, we were all treated like royalty.
Worth it! Do it!
We had the Food Experience that included a tour, appies on outdoor fires, a 4 course meal, and roasted homemade marshmallows. It was unforgettable. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the room is because our air conditioner was not working on the second night. They offered to change our room, but we opted for a couple of fans, which was fine. There was a turn down service that we usually dont bother with, but it included a macaron, slippers, sleep mask, and ear plugs. Also, free cookies at check-in. The property also has lots of trails to discover at the back of the property and an outdoor cocktail bar with some very special choices!
This is a review of the Fireworks Feast: what an incredible dining and educational experience! The farm tour added wonderful context and awareness towards the time, care, attention, and the sheer amount of work that goes into growing the food that we were about to enjoy. This bolstered an already delicious array of scrumptious, carefully crafted meals and expertly paired beverages. The highlight was definitely the oyster hour outside; the flexibility to move around a variety of cooking stations, ask questions to the chefs, and meander through the grounds set the tone for the evening. Curiosity was encouraged, both through our tastebuds and our voices - sitting family style with strangers made the evening memorable. We will gregariously share and recommend this experience to all of our friends!
I honestly can not say enough wonderful things about my experience here. My husband and I stayed in the Riverview Suite at the Bridge house and it was fabulous from the linens ( which were absolutely fabulously wonderful ) that helped us sleep like a dream, the towels that sadly were to fluffy to fit in my suitcase LOL. I loved that I didnt have to pack my Dyson hairdryer they had one in my room for me and LOVED the shampoo, conditioner & body wash. The bathroom floors being heated was almost as exciting as while taking a shower being able to see the horses in the field. How relaxing. We of course did the fireworks feast how could you not and Michael Smith thinks of everything down to the vintage Bentley providing us the perfect transportation to and from dinner anytime we wanted. It went on our schedule. Then Ill be frank with you I wasnt big on sitting at a table with strangers for dinner and my husband isnt a very social guy but it was the funnest thing by the time dinner came around it was like we were sitting with friends everyone laughing telling stories even my husband had a ball. The farm tour was amazing and Id definitely recommend not missing that. Oyster hour I had to pace myself because everything was delicious I kept wanting to eat more ( which you can but you have dinner right after that so be careful ) and Chef Michael Smiths personality and sheer love of the land and the food was upbeat fun and absolutely infectious you just couldnt help but to have a fabulous time. The food was completely out of this world with flavours. I couldnt imagine anything tasting better! I would normally single out that one server, chef or staff who went above and beyond but I just cant because everyone who we came in contact with went out of there way to be friendly, help with any needs or questions or just tell a joke to make you smile. I have never seen a happier more helpful staff then here and we adored everyone of them. They dont just help with your stay there they will highlight a map to tell you where to go next. Incase you havent guessed it but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and we will be back! We went June 5th to the 7th, 2024.
I would highly recommend The Inn and the Fireworks Feast to everyone! Such an incredible experience!
Nestled in the serene beauty of Prince Edward Island, Canada, The Inn at Fortune Bay is a culinary gem. One of the most striking aspects of The Inn at Fortune Bay is its commitment to sustainability practices. Every dish served is a testament to their dedication to sourcing locally and ethically, supporting nearby farmers and fishermen. With a menu that changes seasonally, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the care with which theyre prepared. A highlight of any visit to The Inn is the tour of their gardens. Walking through rows of vibrant vegetables, fragrant herbs, and colorful flowers, you gain a deeper appreciation for the connection between the earth and the plate. And lets not forget about the oysters. Sourced directly from nearby waters, these briny delights are a true taste of Prince Edward Island. Whether enjoyed freshly shucked on the half shell or prepared in a tantalizing dish, the oysters at The Inn are a testament to the abundance of the sea and the culinary expertise of the chefs. In every aspect, The Inn at Fortune Bay delivers an exceptional dining experience
Went for a celebratory dinner and stayed at the inn. Chef Michael Smith and his team immerse you in an experience where you can explore a work in progress, permaculture farm. They are always exploring what to change and improve. The experience allows you to discuss environmental factors in their operations, innovations for farming and food preparation. You get to mingle with other guests and the team at the Inn. Almost forgot to mention the food! Fresh and a delight.
Outstanding from beginning to the end. A review long overdue. Was there for wife s birthday anniversary in July 2023. Facilities, food, service and drinks make your experience an unforgettable one.
They are all so friendly and Mr. Smith was very accommodating and funny.
Amazing. The food, the service, the atmosphere...if you get a chance to dine or stay, it is an absolute must.

Rooms are very neat and clean !
Wonderful Experience, like to come again
Higher price point but its truly an experience from the moment you walk in the door till you check out. Attention to detail is excellent . Definitely recommend it !
We were not hotel guests but we were guests of the fireworks feast! The feast made us wish and wish we were also staying the night as guests!! Next time for sure!!! The feast was the most amazing dining experience weve ever had. Thank you thank you for such an amazing evening.
So cool restaurant
We heard so much about this Inn and restaurant, and we were looking forward to it. There is no question - the supper, with all that leads up to it, was fabulous, possibly the best I have had. It is a real experience! However, the rooms in the Inn are quite small and not well laid out - they look good, but are not convenient for staying in. Also, our door lock had to be jiggled in a particular way to unlock, and the room heat pumps only cool - they do not heat! We had breakfast and that was a bit of a disappointment. We were seated with a group, and we did not know how the meal would work. We saw there was some pastries and were able to ask for tea or coffee. They served small portions of juice and yogurt. After we had had all this, the server mentioned that they also served a regular breakfast - the server pointed out an obscure listing of items. We did order from this list, but were so full we did not really enjoy it. Lastly, they did not have tea! I asked for English Breakfast and they do not carry it!! The price is very high for the whole event, and I was disappointed.
What an amazing experience. If you like trying new foods, this is a place you have to check out.
The Fireworks Feast was outstanding! An incredible culinary adventure not to be missed. The only one of its kind in North America. The food was intensely flavourful, the guided tour of the farm educational and fascinating.
Arrived late they had my lobster roll picnic basket ready in 10 minutes tomorrow is tour day after complimentary breakfast then the Fireworks Feast Rooms: I started out in a deluxe room which was beautiful Last 2 nights a beautiful ro like a little cottage Food and drinks: Oysters bone marrow the feast and the complimentary breakfast. Had lilac jelly today Signature Gin Tonic was great.
Best restaurant I have ever eaten at. The Fireworks Feast is a must for anyone who comes to PEI.
Is this heaven? Are we in heaven? Jewel box hotel, ingeniously set-designed like a Malibu beach cottage and cuisine team that puts Willy Wonka to shame. If you can get there for the Fireworks dinner, it is a borderline religious experience. Eat like a maharaja, sleep like a princess (without the pea). Not enough stars for this place, but lets start with 5.
We got there early enough to grab a cocktail before the tour, which is conducted by their farmer. Lots of interesting information such as about their test garden and that they are the only restaurant in Canada to employ a full time forager. The oyster hour was amazing. If you don t care for oysters, there s lots of other stuff to eat. I have a gluten allergy which they accommodated by serving me fritters instead of sourdough bread. I also have a mussel allergy so I got chicken soup instead of chowder. The menu changes every few days to reflect what is currently ready to harvest. Overall, the food was delicious and creative. The service was quick but it still took three hours to eat due to the number of courses. The staff are very engaging and happy to talk to the diners. The seating is at long communal tables, which added to the experience. Everyone was from away so that connected us. For the people at our table that got the wine pairing, they seemed to struggle to keep up and ended up with a few unfinished glasses at the end. Definitely need a designated driver if you get the pairing. Although it is pricy, I would go back because of things like there being no gratuity because they pay their staff well - I have to say the staff all looked very happy - and they provide an annual scholarship to culinary school for a member of the local Indigenous group.
Amazing fireworks feast! The food was delicious and the experience was unforgettable
I was at the Inn for the Fireworks feast, which is just fantastic!
Food and drinks: The feast is pricey but ultimately worth it. Rooms
Fireworks Feast was an outstanding culinary adventure. Michaels team of Chefs truly made us feel welcome, you can fell the incredible pride they all have in guiding us through our dining adventure. Dont miss the farm tour and Oyster pre-dinner tasting (Salmon station was ourstanding) - great segway into dinner. Thank you Michael and your Team for such an outstanding unforgetable culinary experience 10 / 10.
The best dining experience you will ever have in your life! The fireworks feast is unlike anything I ve ever done before - starts with a tour of the farm and all about their sustainable practices. This is where the passion starts for their food. This leads into oyster hour outside with Chef Michael Smith himself with 5 open fire pits serving fresh delicious foods from tacos to oysters to pork belly. After a toast together at the flagpole overlooking the bay, we all head in to sit at long beautiful tables together and enjoy a feast. The sense of community, unique foods, and atmosphere is unlike anything you will ever experience. They can accommodate people like me who aren t big seafood fans with delicious substitutes. You ll be eating for about 5 hours, the price is well worth it.
A true once in a lifetime dining and accomodation experience. Worth every penny.
NO COOKIE FOR YOU Visited this Inn this past weekend for the feast on Saturday evening. We drove in early hoping to miss the heavy rain. When we arrived assumed we were to check in main Inn, we were told that we in fact need to checkin down the road. (which would have been nice to note on reservation. ). No issue , my husband asked could he have a cookie that were sitting in full view at the desk. The 2 ladies responded no, they were for the guests at this Inn and he could get one down the road. Since I booked on their website assumed I was a guest at this Inn. This was very off putting and they almost made us feel that the Inn at Fortune Bridge was second fiddle to the Inn at Fortune Bay.... It should be noted that cookies should be available to any guest , regardless of the building. We found out later that they actually count the cookies , which is bizarre given the commercial kitchen. Freeze a few in case a guest eats more that one. Then again you might have a guest who eats zero, so it all works out in the wash. Small things make the biggest difference when you are a 5 star Inn and you pay WELL OVER $1 K for an experience. You expect 5 star service from all employees especially those who are customer facing. We are well travelled and being told NO to a cookie that was obviously for the guests, was a first for us Now on to the good part, the team at the INN DOWN THE ROAD, made up for the rocky start. (As did the team at the Feast. ) They could not have been nicer, and made up for the 2 ladies at the MAIN Inn. Our room although small was well appointed, with much thought put into the detail including a Dyson hairdryer. There was really no space in the room for your luggage which could be problematic if you were here for a longer stay. If you put it on the floor you would really run the risk of tripping since would be in your path to the washroom... Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The FEAST was a highlight and not to be missed, it was fabulous from start to finish. Amazing culinary experience, that was well worth the cost . It was probably one of the best that we have been fortunate enough to take part in. This alone would bring me back. We were traveling with relatives who attended the feast but did not stay on property, and they also loved the FEAST. It poured rain, and the team still managed to pull it off and not make us feel we missed anything. Bravo! Food and drinks: AMAZING
Enjoyed the dinner experience. Wonderful, flavorful food. Amazing variety. VERY disappointed that Chef Michael wasnt there. One of the main reasons I wanted to go there was to see him.
We absolutely loved the Chef Michael Smith experience at Bay of Fortune! Just do it. So delicious. Ir poured rain on our night and we still loved it. You tour the farm, have oysters and various snacks at the outdoor fire stations, then multi course meal inside. Absolutely delicious.
Food and drinks: Sublime. Service
The Fireworks Feast is definitely a must-try. The property is beautiful and the interiors are carefully curated. You can feel all the thought and care that went into the planning and delivery of the feast experience. If you have a friend or family member that complains that expensive meals do not fill them up - this is the feast they should attend. From the sustainable smoked Atlantic salmon tasting, to the oyster hour with sustainable sturgeon caviar and smoked brisket, you re sure to get your fill (they even come around asking for seconds). We had a lovely meal and would certainly go again. While they provide booklets with information about your meal, I wish that the servers/staff knew more about the dishes including what vegetables were in our salads as we have such an extensive tour of their experimental farming and varietal herbs and vegetables. It was certainly cool to see Chef Michael at work and I would recommend this feast as a PEI activity. I would also recommend going earlier to walk around the grounds before other diners join and take bug repellent!! I may want to see whether I want to stay at the Inn for a few nights, but I ll keep checking the reviews to see whether it is worth it.
Fantastic Dinner!
The feast a culinary experience like no other. Chef and his team made many efforts for an enjoyable experience. The Inn- our guest room was just around from the main entrance/ dining area so added noise and seemed too close to the outdoor bar which was just outside the window. Room however was comfortable. highly recommend the feast experience even if you choose not to stay for the evening.
The Fireworks Feast is an incredible experience! All of the staff seem very passionate about their work and are knowledgeable about the process on the Farm and Kitchen. The flavors were spectacular and the presentation immaculate. Being seated in the Treehouse allowed for a unique view of the spectacle that was the meal prep. The tour was well curated and the Happy Hour was a great precursor to the Feast. I cannot praise this experience highly enough!

This will be a bit different, this is a review of someone who works at the Inn of Bay Fortune. First let me say , the Inn of Bay Fortune and all it represents is a major plus for the local area. From construction, to plumbing to supplies everything here is done with a local first approach. Also the Inn encourages growth of its employees always encouraging growth even if it takes someone away from the Inn. At first I went to go make a couple dollars washing a few dishes and little did I know what would happen. Its now been 2 years since I been working at the Inn, I seen first hand how much they try and give back to the community from Village Feast, to having a refuge for the community after hurricane Fiona. I must say that the Inn places a big emphasis on its employees. To have them understand the meaning and impact the work they do day in day out, does have an impact on the world, it changes peoples lives, it may seem silly but its true. I encourage anyone to come and try the Feast. You will be so happy and if your not from PEI you will be spoiled in some of PEIs most finest rooms. I personally look forward to seeing new guests and returning guests year after year. I hope you make our Inn your choice of destination, and if you do say Hi to Jon and Ill be happy to show you my home away from home.
We stayed at their sister location a couple KM down the road, The Inn at Fortune Bridge. A truly amazing feast with an excellent tour of their gardens, test garden and the Fire Feast. The evening starts with drinks in the front garden with an explanation of their farming philosophy. Kevin their farm manager explained the farming practices and the many way herbs can be used throughout their growing cycles. The Fire Feast consisted of 5 different food stations with more possibilities to enjoy cocktails and wine. Chef Michael was there shucking oysters, a few varieties from adjacent and local waters. The tally for 2023 was just over 50,000 on the day of our feast. The key is to pace oneself to be able to savor all the flavours and variety. Following we gathered in front of the Inn to toast the evening with all in attendance. Dinner was a five course feast prepared and delivered to large tables where we were able to all dietary considerations were attended to.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! All staff members were extremely friendly and accommodating. They efficiently checked us in, offered us delicious homemade cookies, and escorted us to our room. We chose the fireworks feast and it was truly phenomenal, I highly recommend adding that amazing farm to table experience. Breakfast was delicious. Treat yourself and book the room and the feast; they go above and beyond to make your time there unforgettable!
We enjoyed the Fire Feast, particularly the tour and explanation of the gardens and growing methods used. The outdoor wood fire cooking stations were all interesting, enjoyable and delicious. We found the dinner inside to be rushed, and did not appreciate the loud disco music which made it hard to have a conversation, hear our servers (who were not available enough for questions about ingredients, etc) and to properly enjoy our meal. Although all the other courses were excellent, we felt that dessert was a let down, only partially redeemed by the marshmallow roast.
A truly singular experience that is nearly indescribable.
Had the most amazing stay at the Inn at Bay Fortune! It is not just a visit, it is an experience. Thank you for giving us a wonderful time! If you visit, you must do the Fireworks Feast!
I genuinely enjoyed this experience. We stayed at the Inn - our room was cosy and very clean. Front desk staff were very pleasant - which set the mood for the rest of our stay. It was a rainy day for our farm tour - but the tour was very informative and took us around the property to see the farm and the cook pits. Oyster hour was tasty and had an abundance of appies and oysters. We were lucky to have Chef Michael shuck some oysters for us - one of my highlights on this trip. All cooks at the stations appeared to be having a blast along with the guests. Chef Michael started our feast with a toast - I was so excited to be a part of this. We got to see chef Michael and all the cooks buzzing and prepping our meals - the teamwork felt flawless. Everyone was working in a harmony - from chef to waiters. The recipes were of the highest quality - flavour, presentation and effort-were all there. At the end of the night I was sad that the experience came to an end. I hope I will come back for another special occasion. Thank you Michael and Chastity - I can tell this is your dream come true.
The chowder was horrible. The tasting stations outside were great, though. Overall atmosphere was nice, but the main meal was just okay. Beautiful property, I might add. I grew up nearby and can remember when it was an overgrown, abandoned property that I drove my bike past a million times as a kid, going to the beach. They have done a wonderful job bringing it back to life.
If you have the chance to do the fireworks feast, you should do it. It s worth every penny. The staff, farmers, and chefs are all amazing dedicated people. It s the best dining experience I ve ever had. Was fun to meet Chef Michael Smith. No trip to PEI is complete without a proper visit.
A one of a kind experience.
Fabulous location, rustic coastal farm setting, very welcoming environment, delicious food prepared by skilled and knowledgeable chefs led by Michael Smith !!! Cant recommend enough!! Thank you for your hospitality!!
We went for the fireworks supper! This was an event, an experience, one that my family and friends will never forget. From the moment you arrive, to the time you leave you are experiencing PEI culture, you are experiencing that laid back welcoming feel. Then to add to the greatness of the evening was the staff at Inn of Bay Fortune and their hospitality. No detail was missed. I strongly recommend arriving at 330 for the 4 pm farm tour. The amount of detail and passion put into that tour is second to none. It was worth every minute of it The tour makes you feel like youre in another land. Then you are given some free time to socialize and tour the grounds. Youre on PEI, people will talk to you from other groups if you wish or you can keep to yourself. Michael Smith was there, and very involved, from the farm tour, to shucking oysters, to toasting the event before the dinner on the front lawn, to working in the open kitchen, he was there. This is not just a dinner out, its a night out and an experience. Carve out the time to do this while on PEI.
Its a must experience when you visit Prince Edward Island. A culinary masterpiece.
This place is about the dining experience which because of travel complications we didnt get to partake in. So that was a little disappointing. We got the picnic basket however. If was fun exploring the grounds and eating outside. The room was fine. Breakfast the next morning was amazing and the staff were terrific!
Didnt stay, but took a look around. I would love to reserve and stay sometime.
Beautiful experience
Perfect
We did the Fireworks dinner and it was easily the best dining experience of my life! The farm tour, the cocktail hour, the toast by Chef Michael Smith, the fantastic atmosphere & service and of course the delicious meal were fantastic. Im a vegetarian and each food station during the cocktail hour was able to accommodate. 100% worth the price!
Wonderful experience from beginning to an end. Bring your appetite! The food is delicious, the tour is immersive and everyone there is so passionate about that s they do. 11/10
incredible experience - an unforgettable way to enjoy the local flavors PEI has to offer and learn about the land. if you have the opportunity to get a reservation, you re in for something special!
Amazing experience. Chef Michael and his staff are top notch! The food is fantastic!
It was an amazing culinary experience and fabulous atmosphere! Chef Michael is the perfect host, we learned so much! We will definitely visit again and highly recommend it. Cant say enough about how great it was. The MOST beautiful food Ive ever seen!
A culinary experience out of the ordinary. The environment of this establishment is magical: the welcome, the quality of the food, the visit to the place, all the parts form a whole which is simply a perfect evening!
Always an amazing culinary experience and our room (#3 North tower) was superb.
Fireworks dinner was an amazing experience Lots of great fresh food. An amazing farm. Rooms : 5/5
Wow just wow. What a feast - a real treat
The Fireworks feast is a bucket list experience.
In the Michelin spirit, we travelled all the way from Hong Kong to stay here. Truly 3 star + worthy
This was our second time eating dinner at the Inn and first time staying at the Inn. Lets start with the hotel. We stayed in north tower unit 3. The room is well designed and curated with tasteful art and furniture. It has a nice view of the Bay and hotel grounds. The room doesn t have black out blinds which is unfortunate for a room of that price/quality - the hotel provides eye masks instead. Also The room could use a little maintenance and strategic paint touch ups. The Room was 4 out of 5 stars. Get some black out blinds and it s a 5. The Dinner Experience. The dinner is broken into three main phases. The farm tour, oyster hour, and the sit down dinner. We skipped the tour as this was our second time attending the dinner. If it s your first time I d recommend taking the tour of the grounds and hearing the story. The Appy/ Oyster hour food and experience is amazing . The oysters are amazing, the taco and two fish stations were also great. However, we spent way too much time getting our drinks. It s would be nice if they can speed up the drink service. Maybe do a simple beer and wine station and keep the time consuming cocktails at a separate location. Otherwise The oysters are fresh and plentiful. Come hungry for oysters! Oyster time is 4.5 out of 5 stars. Speed up the drink service and it s a 5. Dinner. This Is at communal tables so be ready for small talk with other guests. As this was our 2nd time having dinner here we had high expectations. The service was great but unfortunately the food fell short this time around. We expected the dinner would be different than the last time we ate there in August 2019, however the meal was almost a carbon copy. We were surprised by the lack of change and innovation in presentation and ingredients. The bread was ok, but too dense for my liking. The chowder was very good. Light and flavourful. The salad was not very good, the garden herbs were over whelming. The beef brisket was heavy and the presentation was crude. The raspberry desert was a star, great presentation and fresh flavours. Dinner 3.5 out of 5. The salad and main course are lacking. Time to switch up the salad and work on a more interesting main. Also the Social media folks getting very close to the prep area was obnoxious. Overall the experience was good, but not great. I d still recommend the experience for a first timer.
Writing this review and we re not even done the feast yet. It s an absolutely incredible experience and we feel extremely privileged to be able to part of it. The amount of effort and knowledge that goes in preparing the food is very obvious. Well done and hats off to all the chefs who prepared the food.
An absolute must visit while traveling in PEI. The lodging is fantastic but the fireworks feast is absolutely incredible. First off, the location is great. We probably would not have seen this part of PEI had it not been for our stop here. We are very glad that we did. There is quite a bit to see not too far from the inn. The room was well equipped, bed was comfortable, AC was pumping and the customer service was excellent. As for the fireworks feast, it was such a great experience. The initial farm tour and cocktail hour was a great way to kick things off. Then Oyster hour was probably my wife and I s favourite. The bites they put together and their fresh oysters were absolutely delicious. Not sure I would change a thing. The taco station paired with hot sauce was excellent. Our favourite was probably the smoked salmon bites. The dinner back at the Inn was also impeccable. Be warned there was A LOT of food. Pace yourselves. What really made the different was the people. Chef Michael and Chastity have something special here and clearly a good eye for talent. Everyone that we interacted with at both the dinner, the resort and the farm were just top notch people. They went out of their way to answer questions we had and you could tell they were genuinely happy to be there. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to sit at some very nice tables and stay at some excellent resorts and this experience really stood out as one of our favourites. A huge special thanks to Chef LITTLE Michael who ran the smoking station during oyster hour. We really enjoyed our time with him. I think we could have sat there and talked food, restaurants and chefs with him for two hours. His passion and knowledge for his trade is as good as anyone else I ve ever chatted about food with. He really went out of his was to make our dinner and overall experience extra special. Big Michael was an amazing host as well! Another special thanks to Ruth who helped lay out a great road map for our day on the road. We will definitely be back.
The highlight of our vacation. So well done.
The room was amazing, great sleep! The sunroom/porch was a beautiful place to sit back with a glass of wine. The deck was sunny and delightful. The food was incredible but most importantly the staff was phenomenal! Watching Chef Michael interact with his staff was completely inspiring. Thank you for an experience of a lifetime
We did not actually stay at the Inn but were part of the amazing experience of The Fireworks Feast!! I would bet that the stay here would be as memorable as the dinner was with Chef Michael and his great team! This is a well oiled machine with everyone working together to bring this to a 5 star location. I would recommend this event to everyone and our bonus of the night was to have a mini concert by Maestro Fresh Wes This was absolutely one of my top lifetime memories of food and fun!! Thank you for the great memories of PEI!!
Third time coming to the Inn at Bay Fortune. Can honestly say the best meal I ve ever had. From the warm delicious 100 year old bread recipe, the unique salad, the amazing steak entree. The appetizers and cocktails before the meal were out of this world. Remember to save some room for the supper after. Farmer Steph did a great job with the farm tour. Thank you to Michael Smith and staff and our server Scott. Can t wait to come again next year!
The Fireworks Feast is the most amazing culinary experience my wife and I have ever had. From the Cocktail Hour, to the farm tour, the appetizers cooked and served out in the farm, to the toast, and the dinner itself. Everything was 5 Stars. Chef Michael Smith and his extremely talented team have created an amazing menu. I cannot tell you how good it tastes, you have to experience it for yourself. We stayed two nights in Courtyard 8 for our anniversary and the room was exquisite. This was more than worth the trip from BC.
August 2022 Passion, presicion, perfection Thankyou to the whole team You truly have something to be proud of.The Feast was amazing
Omg. Fireworks feast. Throw your money at them and just go. This isnt just dinner.. not even just an event. It is an experience of a lifetime.
We recently returned from our first ever visit to Prince Edward Island, doing an 11 day road trip from Ontario, covering a lot of the sights, golf and seafood that PEI has to offer. Our final night culminated with a stay at the Inn at Bay Fortune and the FireWorks Feast. And all we can say is WOW! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with the welcome center cocktail to our final sip of breakfast coffee, it was truly a five star act. We had beautiful accommodations in this rustic setting, with a room in the courtyard. From the tour of the farm, to the Oyster Bar cocktail hour, to the Feast, the staff are impressive, demonstrating such passion, knowledge, skill and humour, never missing an opportunity to make their guests feel special! We were so hoping for a photo with my Michael Smith and Chef Michael Smith and were able to do so at breakfast where Chef was so kind as to share a few minutes to chat. This entire experience is one we will never forget and Bay Fortune will always be a special memory to us since we left the Inn engaged!
Chef Michael Smiths menu was sumptuous in 2015
This is a very special place, and the firework feast was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We visited first in 2016 and again this summer. Both times were terrific this time it was amazing to see how much the inn has developed. The farm tour with Kevin Petrie was fantastic: he took the time to explain the inn s farm and food philosophy in detail, leading everyone through the herb gardens, test gardens, and production gardens. It was a hot day but shade was always available and it didn t feel rushed even though he packed a lot into an hour! The oyster hour food stations were fun and delicious, with very friendly staff. I was impressed that even post COViD with staffing such a challenge in the industry, they were well organized and very professional. Dinner was beautiful and the salad was my favourite course, although the fresh bread with maple brown butter was a close second. We sat in the treehouse which was warm due to the weather but they made sure there was air conditioning and fans to make us comfortable. Watching chefs cook and plate everything was great again, super organized and professional. We enjoyed the communal tables and the chance to talk with other guests from all over the country. Overall a great night out.
Such a magical place connecting farm to table. Went to the Inn at Bay Fortune to experience the Fireworks Feast and stay the night. The experience was on a much grander scale than imagined. There were 85 of us for the farm tour and feast. While sipping wine and cocktails, guests were guided through the neatly organized sections of the farm. Farmer Kevin, with his trusty dog by his side, explained the concepts developed by the Inn to maximize the dining experiences of its guests. We were then left to enjoy stations of flavorful and unique appetizers (oysters steamed in lovage, veggie tacos, smoked salmon, tuna skewers, etc.) The event began with a champagne toast at the flagpole. From there the feast took off and oh what a feast it was! Main dish choices were beef, catch of the day (tuna during our stay) or lentil cake. Before the main dish, we were delighted with 100 year old bread with whipped spreads, a freshly tossed salad and the best seafood stew. The main dinner was accompanied by uniquely combined flavors. The feast was perfectly completed by a fresh berry tart with graham cracker crust. Also noteworthy: (1) the chefs who prepare each course come to the community tables to explain preparation details, (2) wine pairing is offered and (3) every employee of the Inn was gracious. If ever on Prince Edward Island, the Fireworks Feast is an interactive fine dining experience like no other.
Best care anyway.
If you are lucky enough to get a reservation for the fireworks feast, it is spectacular! Ive never been to a Michelin star resto, but I would imagine it would be like this! Its a 5hr experience, cocktails to start, an hour tour of the farm grounds, an hour eating delicious local oysters and other fare cooked outdoors only on wood fires. They dont even count your oyster intake, eat what you can! Then inside for a 5 course meal, all cooked right in front of you in their huge fire ovens. Thats right, everything is only cooked on fire. 95% of what you eat is grown on the farm (except the potatoes!). Its such an amazing culinary experience, I would have paid double! Cheers!
The fire feast was a 10/10 experience. No regrets and definitely worth the visit. Hannah was amazing! The picnic was unfortunately incredibly overpriced. I wouldn t recommend staying more than one night as this seems to be the only other dining option.
Amazing experience! Would highly recommend to anyone who is loves food and connecting with where it comes from.
Wow wow wow. Over the top. Room, meal and people were as good as it gets. Put this on your bucket list. A must do.
Wow! My favorite thing on the island. The farm tour, the DINNER, wine pairing ALL top notch. The hotel room was so nice as well. Late night fire pit
If youre looking for the true authentic experience, dont hesitate!
Best meal I ever had. With the quality of food and service I actually thought it was under priced. What an experience
What an astounding place! Beautiful gardens and trails, the most friendly staff too! The accommodations are comfortable and tastefully done. The food is something to come back for again and again. Thanks so much for your hospitality!
Amazing experience. So happy they recovered from Fiona. Noteworthy details: Farm fire feast! Service : 5/5
One of the best stays I ve ever had. All the staff were excellent, and quite personable. It s easy to tell everyone is passionate in what they do. The entire property can only be described as a culinary heaven on earth. From the greenhouses to the fire garden to the open fire fireworks oven it is all amazing. Not only is Chef Michael as tall as you think, he is also just as friendly. He is also very humble and would continually reiterate the appreciation he has for his staff.
Food and drinks: The Fireworks Feast was such an amazing experience, 20/10 recommend. Hotel highlights
My wife and I were very impressed with all aspects of the Inn. The welcoming and friendly staff, the amazing rooms and the entire experience surrounding the Inn s coveted feast . Interestingly, as amazing as our evening was we were even more impressed with breakfast the next morning - soooo good!! I didn t want to leave. The Smith s should be very proud in what they have created.
Best food experience I have ever had. If you are visiting the island, the fireworks feast is a must-do!
Wonderful place!
Best food experience!
I grew up watching Michael Smith cook on TV and I can honestly say that he is one of the people who inspired my love of food. I was a little hesitant to attend the Fireworks Feast, you know, dont meet your heroes and all that, but I have no regrets. It was an amazing experience! The farm tour was really interesting and I learned a fair bit about culinary agriculture. I did get a little bit hungry near the end of the tour, but thats probably on me for not eating lunch. The oyster hour was fantastic. In addition to oysters, they offered three other appetizers, each better than the last. It took all of my self-control not to fill up before dinner. Dinner was delicious. The food had simple ingredients, but it was artfully prepared. I was dining alone, so they set up my table so I could see the chefs in action. Not gonna lie, I was a little starstruck. There was world-renowned chef Michael Smith standing six feet in front of me, plating my salad course. Mind. Blown. The best part of the experience was that it completely lacked the air of pretension thats often associated with fine dining. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I wasnt scared to ask questions about the food or etiquette. And again, the food was delicious. I didnt know it was possible, but I think I have a hangover from eating too much. Worth it.
The Fireworks Feast was sensational! The flavour combinations are inspired, complex and work perfectly. Everything was our favorite from the tarragon in the spectacular chowder, to the smoked lovage oysters, to raw oysters with Acadian caviar (yay NB!), the maple butter reminiscent of Purdys toffee, the crispy yet delicate wild halibut, the flavour combination with layers and more layers in the salad plates, to the smoked, sultry ribs and the perfect wine pairing. After a lovely, complex dessert, we topped it all off with haskap infused homemade marshmallows that we roasted on the bonfire outside. The rain could not dampen our spirits. We rolled into our room, enjoyed the real fire and the beautiful amenities. The beds are so comfy. Looking forward to breakfast in bed tomorrow. Everyone takes such pride in their work and the place and food shine because of it. Thank you for a lovely treat of a vacation!!
Our bucket list destination after meeting Chef Michael in London Ontario at the Bethanys Hope Foundation. Great to see Chef Michael Smith again..(even took the time for a photo and conversation) from shucking my first oyster in London to personally helping alongside his chefs in preparing everyones meal tonight at the feast.so humble, proud and giddy about all that they grow and harvest. A true foodies paradise. The room was beautiful right down to every thoughtful detail including a ready to go fire set in the fireplace for the evening. Heated bathroom floors, local tea, coffee and amenities. Even extra wood just outside our door in case we ran out. The grounds are impeccable and stunning. The farm tour was truly informative and fun and led by their dedicated year round farmer who truly brought his farm to your plate as he grew with intent so the many chefs could cook with intent. The staff were all amazing, approachable and truly enjoying themselves as they worked and shared stories with us. Food was second to none as were the cocktails. Oyster bar..I couldnt stop eating. The flagpole toast was humbling and honourable. The Feast was incredible. From the 100 year old bread tree, wine, chowder, earth plate, harvest bowl, halibut and brisket, potatoes and vegetables to the dessert and even their handmade strawberry marshmallows to roast outside. All so creative and fresh. An explosion of flavours that come together so eloquently. Just when you think its over we wake to find our breakfast in bed delivered to our door at the preset time we requested. Fresh strawberries, apple cider, inn house cultured yogurt with blueberry jam and oats, beef brisket sandwich made with freshly laid eggs from their chickens, cinnamon roll and local fresh brewed coffee. How do you ever recreate that at home? You buy his newest cookbook! Ha! I bought 3 of his cookbooks. Even left with a parting gift given to guests...a loaf of their 100 year old bread freshly baked as we slept in. A once in a lifetime experience for many but we will be returning possibly at different seasons to truly enjoy this experience even more. Thank you Chef Michael and all your incredibly talented and fun staff for allowing us into your Inn and sharing your knowledge, talent and humour. You should all be proud.
Personal attention from the owner and chef? That was the kind of stellar customer service we received from Inn at Bay Fortune. The food was abundant and absolutely delicious. Having been trained in Culinary arts, the industry has kind of made me very picky. Chef Smith s food is non pretentious, and what I feel is perfect simplicity. Everything was from their farm and the oysters were from the Bay. Our weekend escape was made special by this place. It was my Birthday and I got the Chef s book signed and a cake specially made just for us. Thank you Chef Michael Smith, you have created a special place.
Okay, so quite simply the best place this foodie has ever been. My friends and family are sick of hearing about it. I have told so many people that I would fly from Ontario to bring them just so I could go again. In fact, I will be there again this summer and hope to bring some newbies with me. So amazing and my experience was a last minute addition to a large party that somehow came available. So not only did I taste all that this amazing place has to offer, I was also the benefactor of their amazing customer service. I was speaking at an event close by and a number of those in attendance had planned weeks prior to go for dinner that night. They invited me to join them, but we were all disappointed when the feast was sold out. BUT, once the Inn knew I was there and willing to be any part of the feast, they kept my number for last minute changes. Long story short, I m writing this review and such a big fan. See you soon!
If youve made it this far, you dont need to read a review, just book your stay here now before it gets fully booked. This is a unique farm to table experience that is evolving everyday. You are lucky if you get the chance to visit.
Celebrated a honeymoon evening here in 2019 and was not disappointed at all! We had a memorable evening with Michael Smith and his chefs. Food, drinks and ambiance was A++. Will definitely go back for a future anniversary.
We cannot say enough about our experience her with Chef Michael Smith and his staff. So incredibly knowledgeable with everything. Loved the tour of the grounds and oyster hour. We received an education on everything they grow and do on the farm. Food was amazing, our room was beautiful and in keeping with the environment. We would return in a heartbeat. Breakfast the following day was also so beautiful and delicious. It was a feast for the eyes and belly!!!
Top notch experience.
Out of this world. A foodies paradise. You eat, eat, and then eat some more. The Chef (and his whole team) is great and very approachable and sympathetic. Food is as local as it gets. Incredible oysters coming from the bay in front of the inn. I highly recommend.
What an experience. You start with a walking tour of the farm where they produce all the veggies you eat. You have a toast at the flag pole where Chef Michael Smith acknowledged the shame of the unmarked Graves at residential schools. The food was unbelievable, the service the best I have ever seen anywhere and they certainly engaged you in the experience. Where can you have a world renowned chef personally serve you oysters as he shuks them talking personally to you like you are his best friend. The best food experience I have ever been part of. Chef Michael Smith and his wife Chastity along with their staff have created an experience you will never forget. This is a 10 star experience and facility
Incredible experience, brings farm to table to a whole new level, staff really cares about guests, this is more than just a inn or restaurant or combination of both, its a family bringing you in their home. Chef Smiths vision is something to behold.
No one is ready for this incredible experience!! All the staff is so friendly and welcoming, we felt like home. Right after check-in, we were meeting everyone for an elaborate farm tour with the farm chef, it was amazing to learn about all the behind the scene work before eating. I learned si much about gardening and was also very happy to learn more about the food that would be serve at dinner. Then Oyster Hour, where all of the stations were amazing, the crew was so knowledgable and you could tell that they were treating all of the products respectfully. The oysters were the freshest and the cocktails were amazing. Then a little toast with chef Salvatore before going in for the meal of a lifetime. I dont want to go in details since the menu changes with the harvest season, but everything was done perfectly well. They were also very accomodating for my husbands allergy to seafood. After the amazing feast (that is a perfect word to describe this meal), we went at the bond fire and roasted delicious homemade blueberry marshmellows (even though we werent even hungry). We talked and talked with perfect strangers but we were all so friendly after the whole evening, it was a perfect setup to find friendship from everywhere. Back to the room, we found delicious truffles at our door, such a cute attention. The bed is so cozy, I just couldnt leave it, lucky enough, we were able to have breakfast in bed. An extraordinary breakfast was delivered to our room, the basket was filled with homemade pastries, delicious homemade yogourt, fresh french-pressed coffee and seadonal fruit from the farm. We ended our stay with a stroll in the woodland trails all around the inn. At check-out, they even gave us a loaf of homemade bread for the road. Everything was perfect and delicious, from the welcome cookie at check-in, to the unfortunate goodbyes. We will definetly be joining the team again, I highly recommend to everyone who just loves food. Thanks to chef Michael and his whole team for the warm welcome and the wonderful experience.
Passionate staff, made us feel welcome
Farm, food and fire. An incredible overnight. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The rustic accommodation and dinner experience was charming and delightful. Yes, it is on the pricey side for Maritimers, but I have spent just as much for a cruise ship tour that didn t end with a five course meal so it s all relative. We had a cozy queen room in the South Tower. It was bright and clean with lovely amenities and windows that opened to allow the fresh bay breezes to flow through. The Fireworks dinner is a lovely experience, especially on a warm late summer evening. All of the personable staff work incredibly hard. Chef Michael is very approachable and we were impressed to see him in the trenches with his staff, even to the point of cleaning up at the end of the evening. This is a true farm to table operation and the work that goes into maintaining the farm, the inn and the dining experience is impressive. Chef Michael has taken a run down property in the wilds of PEI and lovingly transformed it into an idyllic Island culinary destination.
We booked a night at the Inn and we re really looking forward to it. There was a maintenance issue with our room so the Inn bumped and upgraded us to the sister property at the Inn at Fortune Bridge. I didn t know what it would be like but I am sooooo happy it happened. GORGEOUS room and the shuttle to the inn is a Bentley :) We attended the Fireworks Fest; an amazing evening. I left the Oyster Hour (which included warm and cold oysters, salmon, pork, AMAZING mushroom tacos, wine bar and another bar that had the best Caesar I ve had my whole life) knowing that I wouldn t be able to fit dinner in my belly. We sat at the chef s table and watched all the magic happen. Food was amazing. Customer service was outstanding. Chef Michael Smith was totally accessible and involved through the entire night including a beautiful toast before dinner. The Inn/Feast has a high focus on sustainability, environment and a lack of one use plastics.
We booked at the Inn at Bay Forturne, but they contacted us at the last minute, that there was a mechanical issue and they had to move us to the Inn at Fortune Bridge. The room there was the only one with a private outside deck overlooking the river, it was an amazing room. They said there was a shuttle, which turned out to be 1952 Bentley, with a driver! We arrived at the Inn and checked in, went with the farm tour, ate amazing veggie snacks along the way. Then they turned us loose on the various snack areas, there was unlimited oysters on the half shell, oysters cooked with love butter over open coals. There was smoked sslmon on gouda chackers, pork belly seared with maple bourbon glaze. And mushroom tacos, all of it was as much as you could eat! Then it was to the main room for supper! 5 courses of heaven!! It wasthe most amazing experience of my life!
I cannot say enough about our stay here...AMAZING...I may never eat again :). The fire works feast is a spectacular event. I lied, I had the delicious hash breakfast the next morning.
Our experience left us feeling disappointed. We didn t receive what we were promised, or what we paid for. We did not receive half of the appetizers listed on the evenings menu. These items were included on the printed menu at our table, and included in the price of the meal. I saw plates of hors d oeuvres going out to other seated tables. I asked a member of the wait staff about this and she assumed that we would receive these items with our seated dinner. We did not. Upon returning home, we ve spoken with friends who have recently dined at the Inn and we heard about all the wonderful food they enjoyed. We are wondering why we missed out. Ive contacted the Inn via email and on Facebook messenger and have not received a response.
Not just a meal but a full evening event. Started with a cocktail, a tour of the culinary farm, oysters! , smoked salmon, beef skewers and chanterelle and caviar tacos, all prepared out back on the farm, then on to the main 5-course meal, finishing with coffee and homemade marshmallows roasted over the bonfire. Farm. Fire. Feast. What a night! Definitely a highlight of our trip to PEI.
This was the best culinary experience Ive ever had. The farm tour was great, learning how they use what they grow and learning about all the farming experimenting was fascinating. Try and get a table with a view of the meal preparation as the show is fantastic.
All around great evening, despite the rainy weather! So enjoyable!
What a treat! I loved everything about our stay and the food. Robes, slippers, heated bathroom floor, comfy bed, and a cozy room. We enjoyed the farm tour and oyster hour with Chef Michael Smith. The Fireworks Feast was incredible. If you have a chance to stay and eat there, do it!
This place is amazing. The scenery overlooking the water is picturesque, the building grounds are quaint, and the paths in the woods behind the farm are fun to walk through. Its a very whimsical and rustic setting. My partner booked us the farm tour, fireworks feast and a one night stay as a surprise for my first trip to PEI and it was a magical evening. As a food enthusiast, having the farmer speak about their philosophies while we toured the facility was an interesting way of grounding our group in the food we would experience later. Outdoor open flame cooking stations manned by chefs doling out unlimited appetizers welcomed us next. If I were to go again, which I would love to do, I would hold off a bit on my consumption of unlimited oysters because they dont exaggerate when they refer to the farm to table meal that follows as a feast. Everything on your plate is grown on the farm or sourced locally. They put great effort into cultivating and harvesting the best tasting varieties of whatever theyre serving that night. Every course was delicious! Our room was cozy but modern and was accentuated by a lovely wood-burning fireplace. Breakfast the next day was also excellent, though I was still a bit full from the previous night. Some nice touches included a welcome snack upon check-in, lavender truffles delivered to our room while we were out touring, and a freshly baked loaf given to us upon check-out. The staff were excellent, knowledgeable and attentive. Several parties in the group were celebrating anniversaries or other milestones, and I can see why they picked this experience to commemorate their important life events. A truly one of a kind culinary experience!
Amazing experience! The garden visit and outside tasting was the highlight of my day there! Amazing sustainable culinary experience!
This place was one of the best culinary experiences weve ever had. From the farm tour, to the oyster and apps hour, right up until departure, this was an amazing experience!! Seeing where the food is grown, watching them prepare it in front of you and seeing the care that goes into it was spectacular! All the food was 5 star, the staff are well taken care of since their top is included In the price and that shows with the level of service and professionalism. Do yourself a favor and experience this culinary journey for yourself..you wont be disappointed!!!
If you are going for the feast, pace yourself. A lot of food, great service and the farm tour was exceptional. It appeared that there was a lot of food going to waste, but those are fed to the pigs. I would have liked smaller portions and paid less for the meal, but otherwise fantastic.
Lovely spot with fantastic food and amazing staff.
This was a bucket list item checked off with a huge 10 stars beside the check mark! My husband, sister and brother in-law and I just spent two days at the Inn and it was an experience like no other in a very good way. We had read all about it, from the Oyster hour, farm tour, fire feast but experiencing it was more than we ever imagined. One of the things that stood out was that from the farm staff, chefs, servers, front end staff and also Michael and Chasity Smith everyone seemed so enthusiastic about their part in running the Inn, it felt like one big family hosting more of their friends and family rather than guests! The food was simply delicious, from Michael shucking oysters for us to tending to each and every plate at the fire feast to ensure not only delicious food but beautifully presented. This experience is a true testament to Michael and Chasitys vision of sustainability, farm to table freshness, a love of food, teamwork, the environment and people. Thank you so much for sharing your little piece and taste of paradise with us, hope to go back one day. BTW if you have time walking the back trails through the mushroom patch and through the woods is a fantastic way to either burn off dinner or the fantastic breakfast, either way its a win!
Great food and beverage service with gardens, all is presented as entertainment.
We were here for the Fireworks Feast in October. Farmer Kevin, who gave us a tour of the farm, is extremely passionate and knowledgeable! I was SO impressed by how dedicated he is and the attention to detail in his work. He integrates intent into everything he does, from the way he utilizes permaculture principals, to his scientific testing of optimal crops, to the way he nurtures a connection between the chefs to the pigs. I sincerely appreciate how sustainable the mission is here! How cool is it that the oysters were farmed in the bay directly across the street! I cant believe how AMAZING and plump the oysters were! I normally cant even eat oysters and these were delectable! We had them lightly cooked over charcoal with an herb butter, and raw with choice of sustainable sturgeon caviar or frozen bloody mary mix. The other stations included a deliciously rich cube of charred pork belly with a slightly spicy maple glaze. Sustainably farmed salmon which was smoked 6 hours that day (I prefer it a little less done, but it was still amazing). A vegetable taco, that I wasnt very good in my opinion. The tortilla was more like a cracker and burnt. The vegetables needed more flavor, either through cooking and/or a sauce. I loved they way they had the stations set up, each individual with a chef attending them!
Food was excellent and the atmosphere was special.
Wife and I went for the picnic dinner; awesome food, beautiful grounds! Strongly recommend you check it out if youre ever on PEI!
Beautiful location and the picnic dinner prepared by chef Michael Smith was amazing. We wil definitely go back.
Lovely spot and the food was phenomenal
Food, Setup, Everything was beautifully done!
We had an amazing 2 night stay at the Inn. The accommodations were fantastic. Private and cozy we felt like we were in a cabin in the woods. Bed was very comfortable! Nice to have Nespresso in the room too. Of course the food was wonderful and beyond tasty! Loved every one of our meals. Lots of Covid-19 protocols in place and felt very good about it. Staff and owners were very helpful and accommodating. Thank you all and see you again soon!
This place was simply Amazing. I would highly recommend it. The entire experience from the excellent food, to the farm tour, the ambience itself, and of course Chef Michael Smith was fantastic. The rooms are cozy and immaculate. I would come again just to enjoy the amazing food.
Fabulous food and staff. Farm tour was great.
First this review pertains to the Inn at Fortune Bridge and the management operations. First, the Inn is situated fairly close to the road and for those that are light sleepers will be awoken during the night by traffic. The road was busy and there was a lot of speeding and vehicles with loud mufflers. The proximity of the building and room to the street exacerbated the road noise. Also, the door to the room kept coming unlocked and this let in the cold air from the sun room, this is especially uncomfortable during the fall months. Now in regards to the management issues, by law under the Tourism Industry Act regulations, specifically section 19 (1)(2) a hotel is suppose to have someone either onsite on the premises or a contact number so guests can contact at anytime. We had issues with our room and tried three phone numbers provided by the Inn, all of which sent us to voicemail with no reply. For a tourist accommodation this is completely unacceptable and against the regulations. If something serious occurred you would have to drive to the main inn and hopefully someone would be there to address the issue(s).
