The Gunshop Café is a home away from home for many located in West End – Brisbane’s cultural center. A relaxed environment filled with chatter and the enticing aromas of a busy kitchen using locally sourced produce. Serving a wide variety of different cuisines and a menu that changes with the seasons. there is something for everyone at this hidden gem.
For the love of God, this café’s been my sanctuary and one of my favourite spots in Brissy. It was a bucketing day, and I had a stack of urgent submissions to finish, and this café just so happens to have Wi-Fi. Bloody brilliant. Everything about this place has been top-notch I would say! Lovely staff, great vibe, scrummy food, and cracking coffee... Not to mention the food presentation! Aesthetically pleasing! Can’t believe I’ve been popping in here on weekly basis since November! Happy Merry Christmas and thanks for being so wonderful!
Three of us arrived looking for coffee and something to eat breakfast time. We weren't greeted had to find out own table. Menus were on the table and staff took our order for coffee. All three coffees were cold. We had the hash cakes served with sour cream and a handful of raw spinach leaves some of which were black. The hash cakes were cold and had not been freshly made. They presented as if they have been pre-made and then heated in the microwave and placed on the plate. No crunchy exterior and no flavour on the inside. A total disappointment and quite expensive for what they were. $22 for 3 small hash cakes. The restrooms had no soap dispenser and the floor in a room adjacent to the restrooms was filled with rubbish and debris. The place is a hygiene nightmare is all walls and doors were unsealed and worn. Overpriced and pretentious menu but but not delivered on. no attention to detail. Rubbish premise, rubbish food and rubbish coffee. My advice is not to waste your money and stay away. there are plenty of places to serve coffee and breakfast in the area.
This place is such a hidden gem. From the outside it doesn't look like much but then you walk in and it keeps going. There is a really nice courtyard seating area at the back. Highly recommend the Szechuan style fried chicken waffles. It was definitely our favourite!! The sweet, savoury and chilli combo just worked so perfectly. Their menu is huge though so you're really spoilt for options.
We got the special iced black sesame strawberry drink and my friend got the hot black sesame latte. Both had a nice nutty black sesame flavour to it. For food we got the sweet potato rosti, and friend got sautéed vegetables. Both were presented beautifully, and the flavour was good but not exceptional. The outdoor seating allowed dogs and it was nice to have them there with us.
Service is is amazing. Army was so attentive and took great care of our table. The Sichuan chicken and waffle is a must-have, you won’t regret getting it.
Both the French toast and Chicken Waffle were sooooo good!!!!!! The flavour of the waffle was on the next level, I couldn’t believe the combination of mala flavour and sweet waffle would be that tasty. The French toast was crispy on the outside but soft and wet inside at the same time. Wonderful experience!!
This place has an excellent brunch! The poached egg on the Eggs Benedict is perfectly runny, the roasted tomatoes are wonderfully soft, and the sweet potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portions are generous and very filling.
I have walked past this place many times without getting tempted to go in. Went there for the first time yesterday and was surprised how specious it was. The space also had a really nice feeling to it. The food was very tasty and the staff were very attentive.
Best little Cafe for breakfast, the meals were so good, the service was excellent and prices were very reasonable. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Parking: Park at the shopping centre nearby.
delicious food High cost performance There are two famous paintings behind the restaurant, which are first-rate. Food : 5/5
Super friendly staff, and the menu is just the right amount of classic breakfast and experimental treats. I enjoyed my eggs benny on a croissant very much! One of the best Ive had!
Best food Ive ever had
Excellent food & service - 5 stars The fans in the dining area really need a clean Dietary restrictions: Good vegetarian & GF options
Beautiful spot in the heart of West End. Food was beautifully presented and tasty. Service was top notch too.
Service was top notch, very friendly fast and attentive. Had the potato and feta hash cakes and they were amazing! Great brunch spot :)
Good food, good service. Ill be back Food
if you re in @brisbane and are looking for a quaint, peaceful, and aesthetic cafe with unique brunch dishes and drinks, this spot is definitely a must try we got : tiramisu french toast prawn & crab spaghetti truffle & parmesan fries gunshop brekky burger iced kuro goma yuzu strawberry, tiramisu latte & iced matcha yuzu strawberry the spaghetti was SO flavorful and had a kick to it, i really liked the juicy prawns the brekky burger was loaded and a great portion size if you re super hungry their fries are a nice group sharing dish too! however if you re looking for a more unique brunch dish, their tiramisu french toast from their special menu is a must try i liked how they had fruits within the bread slices they also have really interesting drinks, their tiramisu latte is strongggg in espresso if you re looking for a powerful drink and i quite liked my matcha yuzu strawberry their hidden courtyard section is SO spacious and peaceful, i was surprised to know that you literally can t hear the cars outside once you re in the courtyard
The food here is amazing and the service is excellent. Best gun shop cafe with an amazing server - Army who is really attentive to the customers. Looking forward to coming back here for brunch again.
The Gun Shop Cafe never disappoints! Alongside my incredible Szechuan-style Fried Chicken Waffle and Prawn & Crab Pasta, I tried their Special drinks: Ice Black Sesame Latte and Iced Tiramisu Latte. Both drinks were a delightful surprise. The Ice Black Sesame Latte had a unique, nutty flavor that was rich yet refreshing perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The Iced Tiramisu Latte was a dessert in a cup, with a smooth coffee base and just the right hint of creamy sweetness. The combination of bold flavors and chilled perfection made for the perfect pairing with my meal. Can t wait to come back and try more!
Iced tiramisu latte is unbelievable!!! TOO GOOOOOD!!! Had the Szechuan Style Fried Chicken & Waffle too, very crispy, very yummy, very juicy!!!! Definitely recommend that! Staff are all very friendly with chill café atmosphere, perfect for friend gatherings on a chill weekend
Waited a while to post this, the new owners have tried to maintain the vibe and standards of the what was one of the best cafes in Brisbane, unfortunately this is now very much a business and not a passion. The food is ok still, however there has been a slow but notable drop in the quality of ingredients, unfortunately since the menu has been frozen in time since the take over (compared to what used to be a fantastic seasonal rotating menu) these changes are even more stark. However what finally prompted me to post this updated review was the absolute massacre on portion size which took place this morning. What used to be an incredibly generous serve of green eggs and ham weighed in this morning at around 1/3 of the size of old, I understand costs are going up all around however given the prices at the GS have always been on the high side (with good reason previously) this hit particularly hard. Unfortunately the staff whilst friendly, dont appear to be empowered to tackle any customer feedback so unfortunately when I mentioned how disappointed I was, there was no offer of a discount or free coffee to encourage me to return....so I wont
Very slow service - we waited half an hour and were then told they couldnt cook what wed ordered. Very noisy due to bare brick walls.
The last time I was at The Gun Cafe I had my eldest granddaughter who was a baby with me and she is 14 now. So much has changed around there but TGC remains the same. I had the prawn & crab spaghetti, a glass of Prosecco and a Cappuccino.
Feeling up to with something fresh delicious.
Lovely and popular cafe. Larger space inside than it looks (they have an outdoor courtyard out the back). The food was very nice - I had the sweet potato rosti and cold brew. I would say the the staff could communicate a bit better - myself and many others after me didnt appear to realise that you had to go up to order.
A must visit cafe in West End.
I last came to this place several years ago and can remember walking away then feeling very dissatisfied at the cost and what I received. Thought I would give them a second chance. Sadly came away with the same feelings. Charged me $23.95 for two very thinly sliced slices of sour dough toast ($9), half an avocado($5.50), a table spoon of crumbled feta (3.50) and a peppermint tea (5.50). Toast so rock hard I should have had a jack hammer to cut it up rather than the butter knife I had to try and hack pieces of with. Took everything I had to prevent the toast shooting of my plate and across the room as I attempted to cut it. Nearly broke my teeth chewing it and it cut my gum. Waitress didnt smile once and I was made to feel a bother for asking for something a little different to what was on the menu. And it would also appear I was charged an extra .45 ( not itemised on the bill) for I dont know what...Wont be giving them another chance...
Its a little piece of Melbourne in Brissy
I decided to try Gunshop Café at West End for the first time. For breakfast I ordered poached eggs on toast, fresh orange juice and coffee. When the eggs arrived they were fried, not poached. The supposedly herbs roasted tomato was unimpressive, with no detectable herbs. The sourdough toast was so hard I could barely cut it with a knife, let alone chew it. Also, all cafés please note: it would be great to have the option of 1 egg and 1 piece of toast. The orange juice came in a ridiculously large volume; I wanted to drink it, not swim in it. The piccolo I had was good - the only enjoyable part of the experience. This breakfast cost me $31.89. Better make it myself next time.
We are here for a birthday brunch yesterday. The food was amazing! Vegetarian options: We picked this place because of the variety. Dietary restrictions: It did not disappoint all dietary restrictions seem to have been considered A+
Best chicken and waffles in Brisbane. Great coffee.
This place is 100% the best food, service and the staff were so nice, friendly and accommodating. Top tier
This is a spot that s a good as it looks. Love its hip industrial vibe and the hidden backyard - perfect for a laid back brunch. Our picks: szchuan style fried chicken & waffle benedict w/ smoked salmon mushroom risotto sweet potato & thyme rosti matcha latte affogato pina coconut Their creative breakfasts and coffee are seriously chef s kiss - everything was spot on. The fried chicken waffle & affogato were our absolute faves, soo yum and moreish!
Beautiful. Very impressed. Great eggs benedict.
Not a huge range of food, but it is nice. The food comes quickly and the staff are friendly. Can order and pay from your table. The acoustics can be a little loud. Food : 3/5 |
The GunShop Cafe West End is a standout spot for anyone seeking delicious food in a relaxed setting. The menu offers a diverse selection of tasty dishes that are sure to satisfy. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great place to unwind. A special shout-out to Staff Army, who was incredibly helpful and friendly during my visit his enthusiasm and dedication really made the experience memorable. Overall, The GunShop Cafe delivers on both quality and service, and I highly recommend it.
I went here with my friends for having a brunch, the coffee was so nice and good place to hangout with a little bit chatting with friends
Chicken salad was tasty and enough for lunch ! And cold brew was nice. I m such a coffee person ,it was good for me there are a lot of black coffee menu:)
It s so delicious. The chef is great
The service at this cafe is what sets it apart. Friendly and professional, the staff know their stuff and go out of their way to be hospitable. We were lucky to score a booth on a recent busy weekend morning and it was the perfect place to people watch. Thank you!
Food was great but I waited over an hour before being told that my order was never taken through the online ordering system. It had in fact, as my card had been charged. Waited another 20 minutes and was given no compensation for my troubles.
Waited 45 minutes for a coffee, and then an hour for scrambled eggs (theyve gotten in contact saying it was due to a tech problem but we were never told this at the time). When it arrived, the eggs were inedible slime, my partners chips were soggy, and the toast was so hard it cut the inside of my mouth and left me bleeding. So, yeah, not amazing.
Lovely breakfast, some delicious coffee . Unfortunately no picture of the benedict breakfast too hungry
Excellent in all areas
When you first pass by, this café might seem like a small, cozy spot thats always bustling with activity. But don t be fooled theres a hidden gem of a backyard waiting to surprise you. The breakfast and coffee were excellent, making my brunch experience thoroughly enjoyable.
The food tastes very good and the environment is comfortable
This is an absolute stunner! Hash cakes coated with a light drizzle of sour cream. We added on the roasted tomatoes and spinach and it was a banger of a meal. The hash was super crispy on the outside and very light/fluffy inside. Definitely recommend this to anyone who comes down to Haris fatms
I went there because I heard they were famous for their breakfast. It was past 12:00 when we arrived, but we were grateful that we could order the breakfast menu until 2:30 p.m. All the store staff were friendly and accommodating. The food menu was generally very flavorful, but I was hungry so it didnt bother me. The French toast I ordered for dessert was really delicious. In comparison, the banana bread was greasy and had no banana taste or flavour, leaving me with no taste. This was the only thing that was very disappointing. The art on the Long mac was distorted, but Im sure a novice barista worked hard to draw it. Good luck, barista! Im rooting for you.
Very impressed. Lots of menu options and great coffee. Tones of seating inside and out the back.
Really good ambience, food, and coffee. Hosted by Rui really well. Definitely will come back.
I was let down when my breakfast arrived and the toast was served as fresh bread instead of being toasted. I had to request for it to be toasted, but by then the rest of my meal had already gone cold. It was frustrating to have paid $34 for a meal that was not up to standard. Ultimately, I decided to leave as I did not want to eat a cold meal.
Dreadfully slow bringing coffees and food out. Coffee was bitter and too hot, almost volcanic. Food was ok.
Spacious and comfy ambient to meet up friends for gathering. Service is superb in addition to the very friendly professional staff. Sausage with apple sauce is beautiful and smashed avocado is yummy Food : 4/5
Quickest service I have ever had. Delicious food.
Their food is good, but I ordered a soy latte, it was awful.
OMG the big breakfast was amazing huge meal with coffee. Service was second to none, and great music
I recently visited The Guy Shop Cafe and had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was incredibly relaxing for a cafe. Plus, they serve my absolute favorite, the dirty chai! Highly recommend this spot for a great meal and a cozy vibe.
Do not go next door. Its worth the wait!! The coffee is great and the fried chicken is fantastic
Causy small restaurant at West End with delicious food,
My sister and I have gone to Gunshop Cafe 6 times so far and we have NEVER been disappointed with our food or coffee... The staff are very polite and extremely efficient ... Not only is the food delicious but they are also very generous serves ... The place is always so busy ... I would not hesitate to recommend Gunshop Cafe to anyone that is looking for delicious food ... Vegetarian options: They do vegetarian meals that are so delicious Wheelchair accessibility: There is access for wheel chairs
Had a yummy breakfast of eggs Benedict. Good price too
FANTASTIC
How accommodating! And how delicious
The best brunch I ve had in a long long time, very delicious avocado brunch with well paired toppings that made it better than others I ve had! Coffee was great too, polite staff, nice atmosphere & clean! Would highly recommend if in the area!
Friendly staff, excellent range of food choices without the need for 20 pages of choices, warm inviting vibe.
The scrambled egg was beautifully cooked
Nice brunch!
9$ for a SMALL Ice latte that tasted below average What a joke
Breakfast midweek is a little quiet but I like it.
Loved the food and juice here! Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict was perfect, though a bit pricey, and the waitstaff was knowledgable about the food which helped me find something to fit my dietary restriction. A bit on the pricier side, coming to a total of $60 for 2 people, but definitely worth for the occasional splurge on a nicer day out. Waiting to come back here!
Really good service and amazing food!
Great coffee here. Worth the visit
A nice cafe for a lunch break. We had a breakfast burger with halloumi and a Ruben sandwich - both highly recommended. We also really enjoyed the matcha latte! Thumbs up! Vegetarian options: Good selection for vegetarians
So far hit and miss with the coffee. Barista obviously doesn t use a thermometer as coffee last time was burnt and super hot!! Waited so long for our coffee as super busy so didn t mention this time. Also noticed they don t even bother answering reviews so won t return! Don t bother!
Super good
Random decision to try for a late Sunday morning brekkie at West End and delighted to find an outside table for us and the doggos at The Gunshop Cafe. GF options, great food presentation, some unexpected but nice ideas with the strawberries on smashed avo! (It was great ). Lovely and prompt service too.
I ordered hand pulled pork burger , the burger was good but chips was really bad. Chips was very short and too hard. It looks like from corner of potatoes.
Extremely long wait time, waitress did not care to provide any level of service, slammed the hot drink on the table and walked off after we asked the status of our orders. Food arrived 40+ minutes after and tasted blend, salty and dry. Drinks are average, match latte taste more like flavoured milk in green colour. For this price($30 per head) I d rather go somewhere else or cook it myself.
If you re looking for a 11am Sunday Brunch, don t bothering coming here.Food was average, service was horrible, the wait for food? Unacceptable!! Wait time: We came here looking for a delicious Sunday Brunch to start our day off right but things went to sh*t.We got seated at 10:45, order at 11:06am via QR code and the food did not get here till 11:45. After waiting patiently for 25 minutes, I went in and asked if they could follow up OR AT LEAST send us the drinks we ordered first. All I received was a rude response from the waiter, telling me to wait and he d check when he s free. Service: When the waitress served us our coffees at 11:45am , her attitude was disgusting. She was rude, gave us a death stare. Food did not arrive till LATER. When the waiter finally gave us the food, he did not apologise for the wait. Honestly don t bother coming, not worth your money. We spent around 60 in total for eggs benny, chicken waffles - super average; and a coffee.
Came here for breakfast on a whim because many other cafes were closed. It was New Year s Eve and a very busy Saturday morning so we didn t expect to get a table. We asked and to our surprise there was another gorgeous seating area out the back, which we thought was even nicer than the front. The service team were great from start to finish, very polite and efficient. We knew there would be a wait but it was 100% worth it! Delicious and creative dishes to die for! We all were delighted with our meals and drinks. We left very full and happy. Glad hubby and I live locally because we want to return to try everything on the menu haha. 1;000% recommended!
I had the spaghetti and prawns and my wife had the salmon special and it was very nice.
This cafe is a gem! Love the sautéed seasonal greens , overall has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and consistently good food. Thanks guys
eggs benny was generously portioned but could have done with a lil more hollandaise imo
no air conditioning area. too hot. it took so long to get food. but food is okay. Food : 3/5
Great se4vice with GF and other food options.
We were seated right at the back of the restaurant, where we could smell urine. Very unpleasant. We were not told that there was a long wait for food. We waited 45 mins to get our order, and the food quality was quite ordinary. Had the quality of the food been extraordinary, the wait would be worthwhile. The price and the delay were not worth it. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian burger and avocado on toast
Fantastic cafe that s a West End classic, great coffee, and the breakfast options are the usual suspects but done very well. The specials are delicious too. I got a fried chicken on waffle with poached eggs in chilli oil and loved every bite but the classic breaky burger and eggs Benedict go a long way too. Great atmosphere inside and it s always a busy morning.
The food is OK but terrible management. We ordered a coffee and was wrongly served with a tea for another table. Then we waited for another 35min for our coffee. During the time we asked the waitress three times to check our order but eventually after waiting we were served with another wrongly made coffee. An additional note after reading some further reviews on this restaurant most of the highly ranked, 5-star reviews are from the local guide with instgrammable photos, and most 4 stars and lower rated comments are from seemingly typical customers (like me). So how trustworthy of the overall 4.4 star would be a question mark.
Usually alright, massive wait for most things. Im a diabetic and I ordered food and a drink today, had my insulin. Waited 45 minutes for it, even though it wasnt busy. My partner had already gotten food, eaten and had her drink. Ended up getting a refund and leaving, having to go find something with equivalent glucose and fast so I didnt die. Normally its good food, slightly expensive, and slightly slow but its busy enough to justify. Not today. Very sad
If youre in Westend and youre looking for a good feed, treat yourself and go to gunshop cafe. I had the Szechuan fried chicken and waffles and it was terrific. The fried chicken was crispy, succulent and flavoured by Szechuan spices, it was a treat. The waffles fluffy, soft, sweet and definitely complimented the fried chicken. The staff were friendly, helpful and the food came out quickly. Definitely worth a visit.
Bit loud in here, but food was overall good.
Amazing experience
Food was lovely!
I ordered a rosti here with poached egg but was extremely disappointed with the sweet potato rosti. The inside was floury and starchy, seemed that it had been frozen and the centre didn t cook. The wait staff kindly explained this is just how these are prepared - sub par - but generously offered for a swap of meal. Overall the staff were very hospitable and understanding but the food was not amazing Vegetarian options: No meat.
Excellent food and service
Good food & good drinks!
Great customer service and welcoming atmosphere. Delicious food and perfect for a relaxed breakfast
A MUST! This was probably the best Korean fried chicken Ive had yet and the sauce was perfectly balanced and textured.
Lovely space great food great service
Fully cooked Egg Benedict as standard! If you need runny egg yolk one, u need to ask the chef to do so ( from their staff). Enlighten me that fully cooked is the standard here.
Delicious food, coffee and fresh juices.
Went for Sunday breakfast. Sausages and bacon were cold, looked to be precooked and then reheated improperly. Very odd, I would ve thought all food would be freshly cooked in a restaurant. All dealt with promptly by the waitstaff but we re not returning.
The wait is way too long. Waited for 1 and half hour for food to be served
service was good, food was good. However my partner and I had belly pain and darrihea after the meal. wasnt aure of the food was off. Not so good experience
Had brunch today there, very delicious . Potato and fetta hash cakes were amazing. Serving sizes very generous as well as the fresh juice size. Friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
this is the brunch of all time
Food was great. I like something a little different than eating at home and this delivered. Was a mix up with our drinks and coffees arrived late in the meal. Staff were friendly atmosphere was OK with dining areas fairly full. They have outside inside and out the back areas to eat in. Food
Average at best and very expensive. Watch out for the add on options. Your breakfast will become very expensive very quickly. They really should rejig the menu to incorporate some of the add on options into the meals. $6.50 for 2 pieces of bacon and another $6.50 for 2 slices of halloumi is pretty excessive. Oh, and $6.50 for one pork sausage is over the top. The back dining area is nice but could do with a bit of decorating or a few plants at least. The table we had was very sticky and the salt grinder was very dirty and was also sticky. It was a long wait, about 45 minutes for two breakfasts.
Quick service and good customer service. Food was very tasty. I liked the seating inside and the pictures on the walls.
Piccolo coffee is STRONG
Good spot to have breakfast. Fast service, decent menu options. We tried their breakfast burger, probably our favourite out of the other things we ordered. Also tried their: Chai Latte Breakfast burger Blueberry muffin Toasted Banana Bread Double Ristretto Parking nearby is easy as there s the street parking AND heaps of undercover. For service I ll give a 4/5 stars as we never got checked on and had to get up and look for staff if we needed something. But we got our order really quickly within 5 mins or so. The atmosphere is one of my favourite aspects of this place. It s cozy, music could be better but at least there s music. The old look to the cafe furniture and flooring really catches my attention personally. And there is art all over the place (for sale) which is pretty rare these days, gives it a unique vibe. Parking Service Atmosphere Overall a good experience, recommended Parking: Heaps of parking around
Best banana bread
The meal is ok, the bread is delicious, the content of the meal is a bit small and it feels a bit expensive, but the flat white is very delicious and smooth.
Highly recommend the lychee and apple smoothie
Birthday breakfast for 16 Service was amazing And food is always good Great vibe Food : 5/5 |
Amazing crab and prawn spaghetti, gunshop brekky burger is average. Friendly crew, would recommend! Has a 15% surcharge on public holidays
I had the pork sausage main for breakfast. I ve had it at other chains of this brunch place as well. It was just average compared to the others I ve had. Nothing stand-out. Coffee took forever too despite not being busy. I like gun shop cafe but this one has gone downhill since last time I was here.
The food was all great and the cafe mood was so good. The employees were very polite and I d love to go back.
Just came here to do some work, grab some coffee and a bite. Ordered one of the mid priced meals, eggs on toast. Staff were very friendly, coffee came fast and food fast, hot, and simply but nicely presented. Having power to plug in devices is a big bonus. Coffee is delicious, not with burned milk or beans, which is a classic trap for many other cafes, and care was taken with the food. 100% coming back again
Been a breakfast favourite for many years. To be honest I was slightly disappointed by my choice on this visit, but everyone else at the table had magnificent looking meals and Ive never had a bad one here. Nice atmosphere, great service.
Very enjoyable coffee and food ,also stuff here are very nice!
Everything here the vibe is really nice like having meal in deep woods and the meals are all spot on Kid-friendliness: Very good
The Toowong venue is my favourite Brekky and lunch spot. My almond flat white and his soy cappacino are always so creamy and smooth and it doesnt matter what you get off the menu its always delicious. Get here. Its yum. Kid-friendliness: Great outside seating. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor access and spacious through the double doors, to the counter and between tables.
We had such a great breakfast in this lovely cafe. The service was genuine and friendly and I thoroughly recommend it.
A good place to have lunch
Food was fantastic with huge portions. Everything was super delicious and well balanced. The staff were friendly and polite and the dog at the table next to us was bloody gorgeous. Love coming here
Wouldn t recommend, average food, food wasn t what was advertised on menu, truffle fries very average and when asked for extra cream for coffee was given a tiny thimble of cream. Disappointing brunch out.
Was very crowded but not squishy. we had breakky and the food was divine. large servings too . coffee was awesome and smoothies and mimosa went down well too . QR ordering at table but food and drinks came out really quickly. we walked from southbank parkland but there was public transport and street parking available. Will definately go back again. we couldnt have got our wheelchair in as it was so full and access was narrow but its a lovely place
Coffee was great. Even the decaf. Food was good. Took a little while though. But it was a busy Sat morning. Food
Good service and food. A little cramped but the back area opens right up. Always pretty busy, its popular for a reason. Parking: Closest parking is probably in the coles or woolworths centre (a few hours free parking). Street parking will need to be on a backstreet a few blocks away.
Coffee fantastic. Ordered poached eggs on toast. Eggs were over, but tasted delicious. The French toast was amazing.
Not a great experience because: 1-Today morning they ve brought me a coffee in a MUG and charged me 6.5 AUD for it while I asked them I want coffee in a CUP and I hate big coffees 2- I asked them to make me an extra hot cup of coffee but it was rather cold and I hate cold coffees (it s winter time for God Sake!).
Worst service ever experienced(NO SERVICE AT ALL). Asked a table for two, told to seat any table and no one attended No menu presented, no tab water served. Coffee didn t have any taste Food was cold..
Good Cafe.
Great all day breakfast choices with some traditional while some modern variations lovely to be open on a Monday Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free options
What a build up to see this place when you sit and get told to order via the app because they are busy. You order at 9.19 and wait patiently for your coffee only to not be served until 9.44am. Only when I walk in and ask where my coffee is and she says who are you and what is your number after clearly showing her my online receipt. You see her walk over to the Chef to ask where our order is and he starts yelling at her to use her head. Nice service they say in the other reviews. But its a lie. We get our order at 9.54am and only to get a dry toast and two poached hard eggs. No sauce or flavours so you have to ask for butter only to get a side eye. When I asked why did it take so long I get we busy inside with a big table. So you wait for this excuse. Dont believe the star reviews. Its fake.
Great food, wonderful staff!! Very prompt service. Food arrived super fast Great Sunday morning brunch spot. DELICIOUS Food
Grabbed some banana bread for breaky , it was served with mascarpone. It was nice, nothing raveworthy. Coffee was nice. Sat out the front and perhaps should have gone out the back for a better atmosphere. Service was prompt for a busy Sunday morning. Good
Delicious food and good coffee. The crab and prawn spaghetti was amazing, the truffle and cheese fries was nice too.
I called to place a take away order but could not place it as they did not pick up the phone.
A warm and friendly café right in the heart of West End with that Melbourne feel to it. Great food options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The woodfired pizzas are amazing. Well decorated and appointed, with lots of nice art pieces throughout Tip: Book ahead, it gets very busy
Fantastic breakfast and coffee in rustic atmosphere, just the place for me .Bacon to die for !
Every time i come here everything is great.
Customer service was dissappointing. The girl was too busy in writing things on tape for prep or something while she was taking my order, which I felt a bit rude. There was no eye contact. She was listening, but the attitude was disrespectful. The coffee and drink were good though.
The food is super delicious and the staff are super nice
5 stars, the food the ambience are the very best, the staff are polite friendly and attentive The orange juice is absolutely delicious Food
Great food and great service. Can be busy at times, but staff do a good job of sitting everyone appropriately. The inside of the cafe shows its history of an actual gun shop/gunsmith.
Salmon Rosti was 10/10 and such good coffee too!!
Oh, The Gunshop Cafe, where do I even begin? I recently ventured into this eatery with hopeful tastebuds and a wallet ready to be emptied. Little did I know that my breakfast experience would become an expensive mission to feed my appetite without breaking the bank. To my dismay, the menu boasted meal prices that could make your eyes water, with some reaching a whopping $45! I had high expectations for that kind of investment, envisioning a gastronomic masterpiece dancing on my plate. Alas, I found myself questioning the culinary gods as I struggled to justify the hefty price tags attached to these seemingly ordinary dishes. Now, lets talk about the infamous palm-size portion chip that managed to burn an additional $3.80 hole in my pocket. They say good things come in small packages, but I couldnt help but chuckle at the audacity of this minuscule side dish. Is it a chip or a crumb? Are we paying for the culinary equivalent of a microscopic potato or a taste of the chips elusive, distant cousin? Oh, the mysteries that lie within that palm-sized serving! I must admit, the experience did offer some unintentional comedy. The look on my face when the chips arrived could have won an award for the most comically surprised expression. It was as if they expected me to perform some magic trick to make them appear more substantial. Abracadabra, heres a chip with the surface area of an ants footprint! In all fairness, the cafe does have a pleasant ambiance, and the service staff were courteous throughout my bewildering culinary journey. However, the high prices and the palm-size potato impostors left a bitter taste in my mouth that not even the finest coffee could wash away. So, my fellow breakfast seekers, if you dare to traverse the realms of The Gunshop Cafe, be prepared to crack open your wallet like a cowboy holstering his gun. And dont be fooled by the charm of the palm-size portion chip; its a sly trickster lurking amidst the menus offerings. Remember, laughter can be found even in the most unexpected places. But if youre searching for a filling breakfast feast without draining your wallet, you might want to holster your expectations and seek other culinary adventures. Response. My mistake $3.50, still absolutely ridiculous either way. It s chips not caviar. And yes I was definitely at your cafe at West End.
Cute space and helpful staff. The coffee I got was disappointing as it was quite diluted as well as the iced mocha. We also tried the: omelette of the day - inspired by okonomiyaki, lovely presentation. Chicken karaage was average and the sauce was too salty, there wasnt enough balance of flavours there lambs fry & bacon - this dish is lambs kidney. Interesting combination but the kidney was very chewy, dry and gamey. Definitely a heavy dish, corn bread was nice tho
Excellent Owners were so smart to bank on the original owners/ concept designer and value and keep offering their dishes!! Too noisy - can that be fixed? A willing compromise for the great breakfast
Simply the best service. Immediately upon arrival the manager (I assume) saw me struggling with my wilful 3 year old. She suggested a nice cake, some icecream for the kids and before knew it we were sitting with the kids happy and me enjoying the slice and a nice good quality long black. Thank you! You remind me of my aunty who has been in hospitality for her whole life and loves it, and it shows.
Such an iconic Cafe. I havent been here for a really long time and obviously different owners? Super friendly and fast service. Prices are very reasonable. Portion size is generous too. The atmosphere and comfort sitting inside is lovely. The incredible pencil artworks are amazing. The only negative is how mild the coffee was, especially for a West End Cafe. Must be a medroast bean. If you, like us enjoy strong punchy coffee...Id recommend a piccolo or a double shot.
I revisited Gunshop Cafe after an absence of at least twelve months, and was very disappointed. Service was poor - the waiter had a lot of trouble understanding our order, and managed to get two of the four items wrong. The food was okay, once the correct order was brought, but no attempt was made to make sure it was hot. It doesn t have the same vibe as it used to have. On the plus side, we easily got a table in the back courtyard.
Always a lovely experience and excellent food. Staff go out of their way, especially the lovely Ann - always recommends a nice dish. Highly recommended! Check it out, you won t be disappointed.
Lovely coffee and good food - albeit somewhat overpriced.
Im always on the look out for well maintained and managed places to dine, and this cafe was perfect. The chief/s really love his job and obviously has Amazing skills. Will definitely come back with more friends and family. Very decently priced also. Parking: There are five or so parking stations in front of the cafe, otherwise your best option is street parking in surrounding streets. We had to go round 3 times before finding a park (well worth it though)
Very disappointing experience. I was told that the place is good but it turns out to be an unpleasant experience. Food was ok but the service was disappointing. The wait for the food was extremely long. We waited for almost an hour for the food. What s worse, most of the waiters and waitresses have pretty bad attitude. When asked if our food are coming after an hour of wait, the waiter just gave me the look of scoff and walked away. When the food arrives, the other waitress just rudely put down the food with her resting bxxtch face. Last but not least, the latte was boiling hot, which almost burned my tongue. Overall, I am not recommending this place.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and incredible food at reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning. Really wish theyd bring back the amazing French toast.
Reliable delicious food with a lot of variety - got your run off the mill staples for breakfast like eggs on toast, to Asian and Italian inspired picks like pasta and pork belly salads. Really appreciate when cafes have a menu beyond eggs Benedict and smashed avo!
You can use QR code to order food, but if you are a foreign tourist, you need to use your mobile phone number to receive the verification code after ordering food with code. This should fail Just ask the clerk to order directly. The meals are filling. The coffee and drinks are delicious, there are many locations, and it is a very comfortable brunch shop.
Wonderful. Amazing. Need I say more.
Food was good, but what impressed me most was the hours of Taylor Swift playing. Would return solely because of this.
Used to be pretty good when we came here a few years back but the past couple of years quality has dropped. The food taste is good but basic things like Eggs Benedict with poached eggs are lacking in more greens like other restaurants and this is the second time Ive come here where the eggs were overdone. Probably wont come here again given so many other options elsewhere in West End.
Consistently a 5* experience
food was average, the fried chicken dish had a strange aftertaste and the biscoff banana bread was a little soggy in the middle but the burger was really nice. service was pretty fast and the prices werent too bad
After all these years, the Gunshop cafe still provides great customer service and the quality of food is generous and tasty. The venue is spacious, has this loft vibe ambiance cross with Soho industrial style with a hidden courtyard out the back. The coffee roast is still delicious, and overall a relaxing weekday breakfast treat. I ll probably still be coming back here in many years to come as they generally update their seasonal menu.
What a cool cafe! Just randomly picked this place for breakfast while the wife was getting eye surgery at the Sth Bris Eye institute. The Quality of the food is awesome and well presented and served in a timely manner too. I delved into a pork sausage and poached egg sitting on sauerkraut and bubble n squeak, for the full description have a squiz at the menu. When Im back over this way Ill be sure to drop in again Thanks
Good coffee and service.
No complaints about the food and service, all perfect. Highly recommended
This place used to be amazing years ago and now its just very average.
Great coffee and delicious food options
Szechuan sauce was very salty, the chef also forgot to put egg in my dish which was mentioned in their menu. Felt the food was below average for a $60 breakfast (for two). It taste so bad we both couldn t finish our meals. Poached egg was also over cooked, like nearly hard boiled.
So disappointing. My last 3-4 trips here have been underwhelming, but todays breakfast was the final straw. Service was very slow, despite being quiet, my meal arrived cold and overcooked, my partners fish was burnt on one side. The tap water was the most enjoyable element of the experience. Wont be returning.
I love the place, food and environment!!!! It s so relaxing be there and enjoy the delicious food. My kids love the place and food as well. Friendly staff!
The food is awesome! Service was professional and friendly to.
Wait time was incredibly quick. Decent size menu, with interesting specials. Jamie our waiter was friendly and helpful, and very easy to talk to. Wait time for food was under 10 minutes. Portion size fantastic. Got an iced long black and it was great. Can t really fault a thing, was a great experience.
Think the Gunshop must have changed hands since last visit. Very undercooked poached eggs (liquid whites), roast tomatoes not cooked at all, no butter on toast. Not good at all. Fresh OJ was fine if a bit exxy.
Great location, great wait staff. Average food, average coffee
Wow. Possibly one of the best breakfasts I ve had ever. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Oh and the food was beautiful and delicious. Will be recommending this place as must-visit for anyone I know coming to Brisbane.
This place is perfect for a slightly more up market breakfast! Lots of wonderful food ideas with lots of options ( I.e. nut free options and alternative milks) We got 2 coffees and 2 breakfast buns which totalled 44 dollars so it was fairly expensive but I d say it was worth it! Ingredients were fresh and coffee was prepared well - staff were super friendly and service was fast! Would recommend to anyone in Brisbane wanting a fancy brekky.
Yummy
Rediculously expensive and absolutely terrible customer service
Waffles are store bought, hard and a challenge to get down
Love the coffee there, it s very milky. The service is good and the staff there are very friendly.
Nice quaint cafe at west end! Sat at the back and it was pleasant and spacious varying from table seating to high tables& chairs. Service was good and friendly but food and coffee took awhile to get serve last morning? Didn t seem to busy but possibly something to note if you re in a rush. Otherwise back to all the positives, Broad food menu selection, varying anywhere from sweet to savoury and they have weekly specials. Had their weekly special - omelette with pork mince served with sourdough toast, gf had the eggs Benedict. Eggs were poached perfectly- runny yolks. Omelette was very light and fluffy and the pork mince accompanied in a tomato base sauce was nice. Coffee was the highlight for a long day ahead! Had a long black and it was well balanced, smooth mild acidity beans hence left a smooth finish on the palette. Next time around would try the savoury waffle + fried chicken combo ! Place is open for lunch too!
Food, coffee and service was great. We had a few items from the menu which we all enjoyed. Only recommendation is to sit inside as outdoors has a smell wafting over from next doors bathroom.
A shout out to Jamie for making fantastic oat lattes! Needed a pick me up and a meal and from walking in, was very pleased with the welcoming staff and great menu recommendations. My lamb massaman was delicious and the Korean burger is still being raved about. The gunship still has it in a very competitive street of cafes.
What a great place to have breahfast
Food and coffee is always consistently good
Lovely lunch with my daughter and partner, great friendly service and food was lovely with lots of dietary options.
I ve been to the gunshop cafe a few times and every single time I have received 10/10 service. Food was cheap, delicious and fast, served barely 5 minutes after ordering it.
