Experience authentic Yakitori at Bird's Nest, Brisbane Best Japanese Restaurant! Our menu is 95% gluten-free!
I have been here with my wife and some friends. Food was Amazing and the staff very friendly. We tried the basic menu and got some different skewers which were delicious! Anyway all we tried was very nice. I will enjoy to come back here in the future.
Amazing smokey taste from their grilled foods which has been consistent across the Birdsnest venues. They must be using a special charcoal. Nice venue, beautiful food and pleasant staff. Thank you Lisa for making the dine in experience enjoyable for my family!
Yakitory was great. New menu selection missing some of old favourites. Emg. Pork belly and wagyu beef. We ordered wages beef and prawns but beef was rare and it wasn't the best. We would prefer to go back to Wagyu yakitory.
Loved our night out at Birds Nest! Food and service were impeccable. We tried a bunch of different things, everything was good! We had Negima, Kawa, Sasami, Ontama Egg, Bao Buns, Katsu Curry, Beef sizzling hot plate
The waitress that night was incredible. She made all the effort to make sure I don't ingest any allergens, unlike the higher end Japanese restaurant one block away. I really truly appreciate that. And her service on other aspects, as well as the food and environment were all incredible. I just wish that it's located closer to where I live!
Thank you for helping us celebrate Mother's Day! The meals were amazing and very reasonably priced. Despite being busy, our meals came out in good time, and the staff were awesome. Highly recommend this restaurant.
A hidden gem in West End! It was full house on Thursday night. We were seated outside and was served by Coco. Excellent service and good recommendations from her. The food was excellent, and the scallops were fantastic. There are plenty of choices to pick from. Well done!
Undoubtedly one of the best food experiences I've had in Brisbane. We celebrated my birthday and splurged on the $75 set, everything left us impressed - the flavours and presentation were outstanding. Most importantly the friendly staff who took every effort to ensure we had a great time. Would come back any time!
Great casual dining experience for the family.
Food was amazing we got the buffet, it was a perfect mix to try all the food. Everything was so good. The staff were awesome so friendly and helpful. The background music was perfect for still being able to chat and enjoy our meal.
We did the banquet and it was lovely!! Really incredible selection and taste was amazing! Friendly staff and great atmosphere!
Bao buns are good but the katsu curry took extremely long to arrive and was tough and dry.
Great food and drinks. But for the price range, table service would be more appropriate than QR code ordering.
Not the worst food around for sure, but truly overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food you get. After getting the Tataki Tuna, Tataki King fish, some lotus chips, 3 skewers and 2 iced tea our bill was well over 100 dollars and me and my girlfriend (who is Japanese and a small eater) were feeling like it was more of an appetiser. We would have had to order much more to get fed properly and since the service was also pretty rushed we opted to go eat at ichiban sushi where the single 6.50 portion of chicken Karaage had more meat than the 35+ dollars worth of skewers we got. It makes it even worse knowing what true yakitori is in Japan, something you casually have when wanting not to spend too much, while here it is treated like fancy eating. There surely must be a better formula for enjoying this. Moral of the story we wont be back.
The skewer is nice and smoky but way too expensive compared to the amount they served, and overall the food was very salty. I think Im expecting too much; it is not worth what I paid for.
Food is tasty and well presented. Staff are attentive and friendly. Tables are well spaced. Would go there again.
The food is extraordinary, the staff are beyond fabulous and the atmosphere is gorgeous. Absolutely love everything about Birds Neat. Vegetarian options: So many delicious options. Dietary restrictions: Brilliant for ceoliac s as only a few dishes have gluten and staff and chef s are well educated when it comes to cross contamination
Amazing Experience Bird s Nest serves up delicious, authentic yakitori. The skewers are perfectly grilled, flavorful, and theres a great variety of options. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy with a modern touch. Definitely worth a visit if you love Japanese food.
If I could give 6 stars for service I would. Waiter even noticed that we were taking photos and offered to take a family photo :)
Oh my - this was my first visit to the new location in West End - and the food was SO SO good!!! Has some cocktails with girlfriends and it made for a fabulous afternoon!!
Exceptional service and delicious food. Dietary restrictions: Coeliac friendly, menu 95% gluten free. Food : 5/5 |
We had the pre-theatre banquet which was delicious. Great ambience and energy and delicious food. We all loved it.
Really enjoyed a great meal here. Travelled to Brisbane for work. As a coeliac eating out can be tricky & frustrating. This experience was great thank you for tasty & safe food. Can suggest maybe stocking a GF beer (larger) and consider branching out to Perth (longshot)! Dietary restrictions: Vast majority of menu is GF, karaage chicken yum!
We were at the Westend branch on the 4/10 at around 1pm for lunch. I was looking forward to the meal as one of my Japanese friend recommended this place to me a long long time ago . Unfortunately when we walked in , no one really noticed us , finally a waitress came and let us know we can choose to sit anywhere . The place is dirty , there were at least 3-4 dirty tables !! After that , no service again . We saw the QR code on the table and ordered the food ourselves . But we needed water, so after a few minutes we finally managed to find a waitress to ask for water . So no service since we sit down for at least 5 minutes . She realised we haven t been served at all , she then explain how to order even though we have already placed our order a few minutes ago. The food came , we ordered grilled beef on rice , chicken karage bao bun , shoes string fries and chicken katsu curry with rice . Chicken katsu curry I would give negative 1star I have never ever eaten katsu curry that tasted so bland ! The chicken is tough , dry , the crust is not crunchy . The curry sauce hardly got any flavor and very watery .( the crumbed chicken at Aldi and the packet curry sauce at Woolworth/Coles would have tasted much much better ! ) normally you can t go wrong with katsu curry at restaurant but now I know you can ! chicken karage bao bun -Bun is dry , chicken karage is ok , nothing fancy. Fries spicy and not crunchy again Grilled beef probably the best out of all but the beef is still quite tough , so not a good cut . The sauce is tasty but extremely salty . Overalll very disappointing meal at the same time very surprised with this high reviews , feel like we are talking about different restaurant here !
Does the family look good or not?
I paid $25 to got 7 thin slices of beef .The other box is chicken $19.5, but I got more. (Uber eats ) Food
Delicious as always. Fabulous lunch thank you love your new space. The booths are great! Thank you once again
I enjoyed the food, but the waiters rude behavior was disappointing. We were looking forward to a pleasant dinner after work, but her attitude made us upset. She was almost yelling and seemed very angry.
Almost every skewer was burnt and tasted bitter
We simply loved it.
All 5 s! Fun experience, great staff, and A++ for a predominantly gluten free menu. Dietary restrictions: Excellent accomodation of gluten free!
Amazing meal . Lovely restaurant. Thank you
Absolutely delicious food and staff were amazing!
Food is amazing! HIGHLY recommend the pork belly, it will make you happy food dance, well, it does me anyways I came in today around 1:30 and was assisted by the lovely Jordan who is caring, communicative and extremely capable. Jordan not only was able to go above and beyond their job role description but actually, remembered me from MONTHS prior and instinctively went to help me without me even asking, I am VERY impressed! The lunch run sees LOTS of people through due to the amazing food, prices and general atmosphere, now, there is another beautiful reason to come back to visit for some heavenly pork belly and that is outstanding service by staff, Jordan in particular Thanks Jordan See you again soon!
Last night I dined with a large group at the Westend venue. The atmosphere of the restaurant with its cleanliness is impressive. The yakitori s were perfectly cooked, a testament the kitchen staff. Finally, the attentiveness of our waiter (with tattoos.) His ability to make people smile with a few words or a nod didn t go unnoticed. Thanks for a fun experience!
Had a late dinner. Great food and ambience.
I come back regularly, as its really one of my favorite restaurants. Been coming here since it opened and watched it grow which is testament to the high quality it offers. Kudos.
Great service, excellent understanding of coeliac needs. Delish food!!! Dietary restrictions: A great place for those that are coeliac or on a gf diet. Food : 5/5 |
Really delicious food and so great that the menu has so many GF options! Only downside was the fact that we did wait about 45 minutes for our food, and our mains were brought out before our sides. We had finished our food by the time our chips etc arrived
Great food..
Great foods but not great atmosphere and service. They dont even accept small favors. There is no point we make a reservation there for special day. Still really hungry and empty even I spent more than $300 though
We came expecting top notch izakaya-style grilled foods due to the many rave reviews, but we left feeling let down. Ordered 5 different plates including chicken wings, chicken thighs and chicken skin. I feel the quality of the meat was lacking any true umami flavour that was disguised by the tare sauce, and also was dry and lacking that charcoal flavour . The reason I say that is some of the dishes looked and tasted as though they were precooked then quickly slapped onto the charcoal grill before being served, to give them that appearance of being charred - they looked carelessly burnt rather than being carefully turned over on the grill. It makes complete sense why Izakayas are very small, poky (and very smoky) joints. I feel you cannot prepare true charcoal grilled foods quickly and en masse like the style that seems to be employed here. Quality raw chicken cooked entirely on (and lovingly) over charcoal has an unmistakable flavour that cannot be replicated. Unfortunately we left feeling a bit cheated.
Absolutely love the food
Good food and service and lovely ambience. Really enjoyed it Food
Lola did an amazing job at taking care of us. Great food and drinks I couldn t recommend more
We enjoyed our meal immensely. Service was a little slow to take orders at the beginning, but after that it flowed well, with dishes arriving at a good pace so that we always had one or two on the table, but never too many for food to go cold. The rots waiters are a great touch. Yum Cha was hot, delicious and packed with flavour. We will be back
Great restaurant and new location. Super service. Delicious food.
Fantastic place! Its hard to believe the quality of the food and location when you see the prices. We go there for our small team lunches and its brilliant.
Great place! Ordered take out from here for the first time during Covid and have gone back a bunch of times since. Im a bit of a boring eater, but no matter what I order here the food is absolutely fantastic!
Great night, great atmosphere, great food
Love coming here when in Brisbane. Food is amazing, service excellent and great selection of Sake. Dietary restrictions: Soy sauce is Gluten free.
Tastes quite normal, nothing special. However, the serve speed is as slow as a snail. Have to wait for a long time until the next dish comes.
Overall great food and experience! The only downside is the portion size and the service time, they took longer than expected with the skewers.
Good as always. A few nice & fancier items added to menu after relocation. like a decent steak
Foods great! Ambience great! Servers are great! I highly recommend this restaurant!
You walk in and the place smells amazing. That beautiful flame grill smell. All of the food we had was phenomenal. We had the pork skewers, chicken thigh and tail skewers as well as the two different mushroom skewers. We also had the seared tuna, aburi kingfish and the omelette. This is such a great place to share so many different plates of food. The staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Prices and food are still good since they moved. They have QR code ordering but at least you can still order with the staff as usual.
Overall kinda mid. Not as fresh and tasty as last time. Steak was good though, and best value
We had a birthday dinner there, a small group. The food was amazing. The service was quick and friendly. Excellent and many options for gluten free foods which is greatly appreciated. In fact, very food wasn t gluten free. I will be going back. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options.
Birds Nest is a great place....fantastic and authentic Japanese yakitori, super environment and super service!!
We had a selection of dishes and every one was delicious. Great value for the quality of food.
Can t beat it, flavours are amazing, fresh and lots of flavour. Thank you for the perfect lunch!!
Food was good, got the banquet but seemed overpriced for what we got. Really lovely flavours. Keen to try more on the menu.
My daughter who is on a working holiday works there, its a delicious restaurant, and there are some Japanese staff as well. The atmosphere is also very nice
Great food! Love the space. Staff were accommodating and helpful.
Amazing food and outstanding service! We loved the set menu - was such a great way to enjoy lots of different dishes. The cocktails and mocktails were delicious too! Thank you for an awesome evening!
We had a great evening of food. Was easy to book on line, service was excellent and friendly. Well priced for what you received. Was a pleasant evening. Parking: We parked in the street, had no issues finding a park
Second time Ive been to one of the Birds Nest restaurants and will keep going back
Such a vibrant place! Excellent food, service and atmosphere - will be returning!
Tastes bitter. Multiple dishes were overcooked and waitresses mixed up orders across 3 tables.
Such a great range of dishes to choose from! You can have as big or small a meal as you feel like with all of the options. I love to share a range of small bites, especially the charcoal grilled Yakitori skewers. It can get busy but in their new, larger space, its easier now to get a table. I sometimes get delivery but its better in the restaurant. Mum is a coeliac and they catered to her gluten free needs when I last took her there.
Food is absolutely amazing, highly recommend
No Birds 0/10 not recommended for birding. Food was fire tho.
Very disappointed with the food, the octopus and the squid is very salty, especially the squid. And for the other skewers (chicken heart, chicken gizzards, chicken soft bones) that we have ordered, no taste, I have to add salt by myself. Oh, and the chicken thigh, no comment at all, see the attached photo.
Parking: Difficult to park Food
We werent sure if wed like the change of venue, etc. but we loved it! Everything was wonderful. The service was fabulous., the atmosphere was intimate enough, and the food was delicious and so well prepared! Well be back! Dietary restrictions: Some GF options chosen.
We had a lovely lunch at Birds Nest Restaurant. Great food and excellent service.
Dietary restrictions: Great gluten-free options. Food
Very friendly and efficient staff and food was great. Would definitely go back.
Love the new venue. Much bigger and more upmarket than the previous one. Food was fantastic. Will definitely return.
Amazing food and customer service, been many times and it just gets better and better!!
Always have such a great experience at Birds Nest West End! The service and food is amazing :)
Despite the fact that there were no customers, and they offered us to seat any table were comfortable, but they said it s unable to sit on that table because for four. Yeah. We re two people and we thought that the table might be reserved, but no one sat for four until we got out of the meal. This frivolous customer service wasn t a huge problem until then. The side plates were not polished at all, so all kinds of food scraps were dried up as it was, and the wine glass was no exception, and the disgusting smell was indescribable. Anyway, we ordered a bottle of wine and no one filled the empty glass until the it was fully empty, and I kept waved hands but they did not come for a long time. If they were busy for dealing with customer, I would understand, but there were only two tables, including our table and busy for chatting with staffs each other. To say the least I heard their chatty and laughing sounds in the bathrooms. I wont go into too much detail about the food, but the fact that it was very musty, old, stale, etc in overall. The food was indescribably worst and seemed to have no knowledge of basic in a hospitality, staff training and customer service. I was so disappointed with the quality and service that even though we paid a lot of money. even worst than street food. I would definitely advise anyone I know not to go if they mention this place.
The staff was excellent, the food was astonishing, and the service amazing
Tasty food. Awesome service. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back, again
Love the new place
I went there on Friday night for the first time. Exceptional service and exceptional food. We will absolutely be back!
Great food, my friend was very impressed with her lunch. Great place for Gluten free. Staff very friendly.
My favourite dish is the charcoal squid- yummy. I also had black Angus steak which was very tasty. Also tried the yakitori skews & the shitake skewers .they have a mirin glaze, I think, which is really tasty We had a group of 9 people for lunch & everyone enjoyed it. It was a birthday lunch for a staff member. Everyone really had a good time & the service & atmosphere was good. Price per person was very reasonable. I drank asahi beer on tap which was good .next time I will try the sake. Thank you very much. We will be back. Darryl Vegetarian options: Our vegetarian liked the tofu with rice Parking: Found street parking right out front
Love everything about this place, my goto for Yakatori in Brisbane.
The venue is now very big, only a small bar seating area. We have always sat watching the cooks as in Japan. Atmosphere not as good as previous venue. Being older, we prefer table ordering, not using a phone, which again impacts on the restaurant atmosphere. Food
Everything was absolutely delicious and gluten free! So much of the menu is gluten free that they only mark what actually has gluten in it! And it was flawless. Can t wait to go back!
Amazing food, friendly service, good value, will be returning for sure
Love Birdsnest west end! Great food, great service
Enjoyed a great lunch with my crew, polite and efficient service and fantastic food - well be back!.... thanks
Food is good but Why does the cabbage I ordered from Uber smell sour and smelly? Can you sell this kind of stuff? Not the first time
Awesome service and amazing food. Some great vegan options as well. Hope to return again soon
Ive been to Birds Nest many times and theyre always consistent. Absolutely delightful menu and tasty drinks. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the service is always good. I find myself falling back on Birds Nest, especially the West End one, whenever I cant think of a place to go for eats.
I hate to be the downer about this place but regrettably it was not good at all. My wife and I had dinner here and I have to say basically everything we ordered was tasteless. We tried six dishes so we did have a variety and Im sorry to say most of it was left on our table when we left. The only thing that gave the food flavour was the Wasabi on the side. Now before you go at our limited pallet we eat at a lot of restaurants, Japanese included and this one just had no flavour to the food.
Awesome night out the staffs were friendly and super responsive.
Tasty food, well priced. Prompt efficient staff. We dined in a booth which had a nice atmosphere. Vegetarian options: Good selection of vegetable dishes
Great atmosphere and fantastic food. The lights in the booths could use a shade though. Bit bright if youre close to it!
Delicious food! The highlights were the baos and the beef n reef! The steak was so good!
Loved every minute of being in here. Felt very welcoming coming in and all the servers were very nice and amazing service. Food was even better then expected and would definitely come back again Vegetarian options: Had an amazing selection for vegetarians as well Kid-friendliness: Such a lovely crew and amazing times would be loved by all ages
Long wait for drinks and confusion about who s food was whose. Still yummy but just less stellar than previous visits to the old venu and Fortitude Valley Birds Nest.
The best salmon sashimi!! All of our food absolutely delicious, so fresh. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend
Good place to eat for snacking. Food is very delicious but can be quite expensive.
Just love food at bird nest
Really good food, plus sitting and watching the cooks is an experience in itself
First time dining at a Japanese restaurant and the experience was out of this world. Would return for the service alone - the entire team worked hard with such fluidity and joy. I want to work my way through the entire menu. Would highly recommend, especially the set menu. Will return!
Great food and staff. Loved it!
We had the set menu for 2 and it was great value for money and the food was delicious
Dont miss the cocktails here! Every time I get a cocktail here I am blown away. The wasabi cocktail this time was beautifully layered and you cant help but come back for another sip. Their sake and umeshu flights are a great experience, and of course every bite of the yakitori was delicious! Would recommend the Ochazuke as a warming and filling round out to the night.
The seafood is delicious and so fresh. It only tastes of fresh fish. The rest if the food is amazing! I love eating here
Visited the new restaurant at the old Billy Cart site. Food was still great. Service also very good. It has just lost the atmosphere of the previous restaurant. More like a family bistro. The previous restaurant was like walking off the streets of Tokyo. Probably go back for the food but not for the experience. Perhaps darken it up a bit.
Consistently delivers all round, first time at the new venue. Loved the booths
We love Birds Nest. It s a favourite family restaurant for us. The food is always delicious, the service is wonderful and the new premises are amazing. They also have many gluten free dishes and as a coeliac, it s nice to have such a selection to choose from. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free dishes are phenomenal!
Loved this meal, quick service, easy online booking system, delicious food
The chicken soft bone is spot on. The yakisoba is the best I have ever had; its bursting with flavor, and I think the addition of pickles elevates the dish. I traveled from Melbourne and will definitely come here again. Vegetarian options: Veggie skewers
Loving the new space. Everything was fantastic. Well done!
Meals were good but our rice sides came out roughly 15 minutes after the mains which was frustrating. We wanted to wrap things up and leave so we asked to cancel a rice dish we were waiting on but they said it was in the making. Once we received our last rice dish we had nothing to eat it with.. I felt like our waitress kinda forgot about us. If the rice dishes came out first or with the food that wouldve been much better!
Awesome food and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Had the omakase course and couldnt fault it.
I love this place sooooooo much
Really good customer service, every staff was being very attentive. Food was really good, great atmosphere too. Will definitely come back!
When I was having trouble with a local taxi, they responded quickly and helped me out, which was really helpful. The food and drinks we had afterwards were excellent. If I have the chance to go to Brisbane next time, I would definitely like to visit again.
Amazing yakitori, comparable to my experience in Japan. Do yourself a favour and remember to get the wagyu beef, just absolutely divine. Okra and oyster mushrooms are also honourable mentions. The cherry tomato one is dangerous as it explodes in your mouth! Parking: Limited Street parking
Overall is good the food is nice but the tofu we ordered not what we expected the skewers are great, we requested to have a glass of hot water because my throat was not feeling well but the gal (blond hair bar tender) said yes but end up she totally forgotten it. The other young lady shorter hair was very nice that she boiled 2 glasses of hot water to us - appreciated
The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious, especially the chicken liver and roasted chicken skin, they are really delicious
Thank you for another wonderful meal - you never disappoint!
DELICIOUS! QUICK AND FRIENDLY SERVICE!
The food was delicious and it didn t take long to be served. The atmosphere was vibrant and casual. Definitely coming back!!!
A wide variety of dishes, many of them can be shared. Fast and friendly service. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are uncommon in Japan, but this restaurant offers a range of vegetarian dishes.
Birds Nest - West End becomes myself and my wifes must eat place when we come to Brisbane central. Every food we ordered was perfect! Staffs gave us awesome service while we had dinner. We definitely visit again when we come to city soon.
Always great food and service. Best in the business
Spending a few days in Brisbane and decided to try this Japanese restaurant. Lovely atmosphere as soon as entered we booked online beforehand and were promptly seated. An extensive menu, too much for someone with little knowledge of this cuisine. So we decided to go for the share meal for two which had a good selection from crackers and pate, edamame, rice, fried chicken with wasabi mayo, salad followed by 4 different skewers from the grill. By the end of this generously portioned meal we had no remove for desert. Licensed with a nice tempranillo wine and Ashani. Highly recommended
We loved every bit of food we had at this delightful restaurant. The menu has a wide range of options, yakitori grill gives everything a yummy chargrilled flavour. There were plenty of flavoursome vegetarian dishes, unusual authentic Chinese dishes, and old favourites, like gyoza s and noodles. The staff are friendly, and attentive, the restaurant is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it was entertaining to be able to see the chefs at work in the kitchen.
Loved it, pop off
Dietary restrictions: Not really vegan options as it is all cooked on the one grill. Food
There is no way you charge $25 for this .. how is half a cup of rice and 5 minuscule pieces of chicken with curry sauce cost that much.
My first time trying Japanese food. I am in love. Thanks for the great food and service
Food delicious and staff amazing, as always !!
Been going there since I first came to Australia. A bit pricey now. With the current mark up it s hard to believe now but when it first opened it was all you can eat! Always loved Japanese charcoal skewer and they do bring the authentic flavour to brisbane. Shame they used to have chicken aorta which is not off the menu. Also the chicken oyster is so rare now it s practically impossible to order. Would be nice if they can bring those back on the menu. Service has always been good non the most recent visit they accidentally served our skewer to the adjacent table. After realising that they gave us a pair of free skewer as apology. Food can be on the salty side. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian skewers. Salad option
Excellent spot for a child free dinner! Excellent service, heaps to choose from on the menu and all of it is delicious! They cater marvellously for coeliacs with everything being gluten free except the stuff specifically marked as not gf (what a delightful change!) and are more than happy to answer questions etc. Weve been quite a few times and will keep visiting in future! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free heaven!
Always have a great night at Birds Nest! Food is so delicious and service is great, friendly staff! Definitely will be back!
You can do no finer a choice to visit this very authentic izakaya and enjoy the set menu or a la carte fine dining. Also do not miss out on the Mega Highball!
Satisfied with a great foods and customer service
An absolute culinary delight! I recently visited Bird Nest for lunch and was blown away by their Curry Katsu Don and Wagyu Braised Beef. The flavors were exquisite, and the quality of the Wagyu beef was unparalleled. The service was impeccable, with friendly staff who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. Without a doubt, Bird Nest has become one of my top dining destinations. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional Japanese cuisine experience. Five stars, no question!
Absolutely Terrific night food was the best experience, clean flavours plentt of options will be back soon
Had high expectations since the high score on Google. End up so disappointed, horrible food. Doesnt live up to high quality Japanese food at all.
The food were not nice (soooo salty) the three stars are for the super friendly staff
Service and food are always amazing here.
I love this place. I have very much enjoyed all the food I have had here with the possible exception of the crispy chicken thigh (Tori Karaage) which was a lot of overcooked coating containing not much chicken. The scallops are amazing and the skewers I have tried have all been very good. I also tried one of their salads this time and was very pleasantly surprised. The Bao is tasty and I love to start my meal with the complimentary cup of Miso Soup. The staff are very polite, friendly and accommodating. The ordering system is efficient and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend and I will definitely return
Salted. Expensive.
Delicious foods. The chef was working hard and spotted on every single skewer. We had a lovely time and enjoy the meals. Will be back
Sensational food, gets better every time we dine there. Wombok salad is fantastic as are the skewers
To get authentic, quality food for lunch, made to order, with beautiful Japanese cuisine for under $20 for lunch is still available! I am bias of course, but todays lunch once again was amazing!!!?
Dont come. Its terrible. The fried lotus root is hard. The kebabs are salty. The meat is so expensive. The quality of the meat is so poor. Its the first time Ive eaten such a bad kebab. The specialty octopus is fishy and expensive. This restaurant in China cant live for more than a week.
Yummy food!! Loved the service
Great restaurant, concistantly great food Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options available Food : 5/5 |
We had a great evening of food, before Riverfire!
Good food, excellent and friendly staff
It was good but everything eventually tasted the same. For me, it did not make for a memorable experience but maybe we did not pick the right dishes
A mixed experience for our group lunch . Food was delicious but service was a bit erratic. Though the web site says they open from 11.30 some of our group arrived early and were made to wait outside with other dinners till exactly 12.00. The waitress delivering our food only spoke Japanese so no one understood the dish she was delivering . We then realised she was delivering the wrong table dishes . A mix up with a drink order and one food that was only delivered after being reminded it wasnt received after everyone else had received theirs. Not the place for a quiet get together. Large tables , open spaces ,and wooden floors tend to echo sound . Considering the value for money it was ok.
Also very fast.
Birds Nest - West End is amazing! Their grilled skewers are the best in town. The people here are super friendly, and the service is quick. Its a must-visit for skewer lovers!
fantastic yakitori food. the tamago was my favorite! great vibes too
Absolutele best food and service in West End. Ive come here a couple of times now and Im already looking forward to the next!
Cool yakitori spot - friendly folks, good sake, great skewers.
This is my favourite restaurant and I ve been going to the West End location for many years. My partner has a bad garlic allergy to garlic which was absolutely so issues and taken seriously. Will always return.
It was not the busiest night but the kitchen seemed understaffed. Waited a while for foods. All staffs were very friendly and helpful in general.
Yummiest, freshest, best value eat in West End. Shoutout to Coco for her amazing service and chefs for the yummy food
Just so yummy. Lovely food and service. Will be returning.
The experience couldn t have been more perfect. Ate a broad range of veg and meats and seafood. Consistent and delicious. Vegetarian options: Veg cooked on coals, no better way!! Well seasoned aswell.
Ordered Italian style skewers, chips, white lager & seafood Yakisiba.. Great service, friendly staff & delicious good!
This is like my 7th time at Birdsnest! My Fiancé and I went to the soft opening of the new West End location last night and it was sooo tasty! We had the miso butter squid (new to the menu), tender 200gr steak in a soy glaze, edamame, pan fried gyoza and steamed rice. Great sized portions. He had a lovely white Japanese wine as well. The new place is larger, has a great vibe, and ample indoor & outdoor seating. So glad to see that they were able to stay in West End!
The place is great. New venue is much bigger, nice outdoor seating. The food is amazing
As always our experience at Birds Nest we exceptional. The new West End value has a great vibe and only enhances the experience. There is too much to choose from to fit it all in with one visit and nearly impossible to pick a favourite dish (although the bao buns were incredible). Keep up the great work team.
What a glorious new venue - kudos to the Birds Nest Team for the minimal downtime in between closing the old restaurant, seamless transition to the new one, and a simply beautiful fit-out. Were looking forward to another ten years of great food and excellent service!
Awesome service with such positive atmosphere that adds into the whole experience. Such a smooth transition from the old place to this new one in such little time. Food is amazing as always, reminds me of back home, but even better than the yakitori places Ive been to in Japan! Highly recommend the wombok salad, plum passion (cocktail) and garlic prawns (and of course, any of the skewers!)
Exceptional Experience at Birds Nest Yakitori Bar! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Birds Nest Yakitori Bar, and I must say it was an absolute delight for the senses. The Japanese yakitori experience at this establishment is unparalleled, and every dish left me in awe. The Crispy Chicken Skin Chips were a revelation! Perfectly seasoned and wonderfully crispy, they were an addictive start to the meal that set the bar high. The playfulness and creativity in transforming chicken skin into chips showcased the culinary mastery at Birds Nest. The Delicious Tuna Tataki was a symphony of flavors. The freshness of the tuna combined with the delicate balance of sauces made it a highlight of the evening. Each bite was a journey through layers of taste that left me craving for more. The Pirikara Spicy Fries were a delightful surprise. The heat level was just right, and the spices complemented the perfectly cooked fries, creating a side dish that elevated the entire dining experience. And lets not forget the Butabara Pork Belly Skewers a melt-in-your-mouth sensation that I can only describe as culinary perfection. The tenderness of the pork belly paired with the savory marinade made these skewers an absolute must-try. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, the service impeccable, and the attention to detail in every dish was evident. Birds Nest Yakitori Bar has truly mastered the art of Japanese yakitori, creating an experience that deserves every bit of its five-star rating. If youre a food enthusiast seeking a culinary adventure, look no further than Birds Nest Yakitori Bar. Your taste buds will thank you! Oh and do yourself a flavor and try a few of the fantastic tasty cocktails on the menu.
Great vibes, great food. Luv the new location!
The food was fresh and very tasty :) The charcoal flavour is amazing The best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane! Convenient location and we had a great table where we could see the kitchen cooking our food The atmosphere is buzzing, the staff were warm and friendly and the overall service was exceptional. The variety of cocktails were on point as well. Highly recommend the Plum Passion and French Martini ;) Do yourself a favour and have a couple! 5

I only had drinks there, but very impressed with the setup and food/drink selection! Would give it 10 stars if they add daigaku imo for dessert.
The service its excellent and the lunch special it s the best deal.!!!
We went to Birds Nest after they moved from the old location with some friends and I cannot speak highly enough of the restaurant and the staff. The staff greeting us were so extremely friendly and helpful as well as giving us the option to order on both from a server and from a QR code was a fantastic addition. The food came out very quickly and was amazing, the pork skewers with sweet miso sauce was amazing. I will be going back for sure with more people to share the experience.
For a short time I felt like I was in Japan. Overall nice but I had to sit in front of the cash register waiting for someone, so I could pay my bill. Food
The food was really yummy. The new venue was really nice and spacious. Bird s Nest never disappoints.
