I've ordered pizza from this place 3 times now. The first 2 times, the pizza was cold and insanely greasy. This last time, however, the pizza was somehow burnt around the edges while the middle was completely doughy and uncooked, and the cheese wasn't melted at all. Peeling half cooked pizza off of the box is an unpleasant experience. Famoso used to have good pizza, what happened?
Wood fire pizza was very good, tomatoes bisque was very good. Pizza crust is on the thick side and not really proofing in the oven for some reason. Not sure if it's how it's supposed to be but a lot of pizza around here has thin flat crust. For a wood fire pizza I expect more but still pretty good
We had a wonderful experience at the Famoso in Spruce Grove! We came in just after 8 after a long day of working, not knowing if they would take four new guests due to the time being less than an hour to closing. We were greeted and served by Amanda, who made sure it was no problem for us to stay and eat during the hour the kitchen and machines were being readied for closing! We had a delicious meal! Thank you Famoso, and especially Amanda!
Our waitress, Kim, was wonderful. The hostess was also great. Clean restaurant. The food though....what the hell. Mozza balls wrapped in prosciutto: just a ball of raw mozzarella, wrapped in prosciutto, dropped in a bowl of lukewarm tomato sauce, no seasoning or taste. Soggy tomato drenched prosciutto tastes awful and looks grey 😕 Caprese salad: two tomatoes cut in half. Ball of mozzarella cut in 4. Huge pieces so you end up cutting it yourself. And drenched in dressing. The Thai soup was full of smooshy rice or something....so overcooked it that everything in the soup was squishy. Not much Thai flavor either.
Good restaurant. Ricky's teaming up with famoso was a good idea. The pizza was decent but crust was a little burnt. Food and drinks are good. Good choice of restaurant for families.
So happy to have a Famoso back in spruce again. Really missed the great food. Server was amazing, friendly engaged etc. But where there is a lack of stars is she got both my kids order wrong (no biggie it got fixed), but then my wife's takeout was the wrong pizza as well... not gonna lie the second was a bit more of a letdown as I got home and wasn't willing to come back.
Our pizzas came out over 5 minutes apart, the crusts were nearly burnt while the middle was soggy and undercooked. The pizzas were also undersized and not properly stretched. The manager said that to the undercooked middle… “that’s how it is” but it is a franchise and as someone who worked 3 years in a Famoso kitchen and has eaten Famoso pizza literally hundreds of times, I know it is definitely not how it is.
Love the new Famoso's in Spruce Grove. Tomato bisque soup and Sicilian meat lovers pizza delicious.
