Joe Pesto's Wood Fired Pizzeria in Squamish

I ve now tried to order take out on three separate occasions and the service has been exceptionally poor! I ve been put on hold for 15 mins, called 8 times in the span of a half an hour to get call failed, and now when I tried calling, they picked up the phone, said nothing and set it down, leaving me asking if anyone s there, for at least 5 mins that s pretty rude and unacceptable customer service. The pizzas are great, unfortunately this kinda customer service is loosing my business do better!

Good pizza . Terrible service when trying to order take out . Line always busy and put on hold for 15 minutes. I ve actually gone to the place to pre order thinking it was something wrong with my phone. To walk in and see they aren t busy. This has now happened four times. Bad service one star. Also I ve asked for extra cheese three times and they never put extra cheese .

I ordered last Friday(18th) 4 pizzas to be delivered for a little get together. They arrived an hour late with a missing pizza which I had to phone and phone to get ahold of the place. After 10 minutes of her trying to figure out if I was actually missing a pizza she asked if I would be coming to get it! No, I got delivery and tipped 20 bucks to find out this. She said oh and said well I can get you a refund but my manager is busy can she phone you tonight or tomorrow? Sure. No one called me so I called Sunday and a gentleman said the manager/owner wasnt there and would phone me around 430. Nothing. I have phone every day since and no answer and no way to leave a message so here it is. Over a 100$ bill and with costs these days I expect to get what I paid for. I hyped you guys to my friends and you actually embarrassed me.

We arrived at the restaurant and told them that we were expecting 3 more people. They took our drink order and by the time the rest of our party arrived, the waiter came to our table to inform us that they had run out of pizza, at a restaurant that only sells pizza... Why seat customers if you cant guarantee youll be able to serve them? There was no real apology from the waiter either.

We really enjoyed the pizza at Joe Pesto s. Having baked hundreds of pizzas in a wood fired oven ourselves we appreciated the authenticity of what we were served. Vegetarian options: The artichoke pizza was delicious.

Satisfying pizza on those days when you crave the delicious Italian specialty that the entire world loves. Lots of choices in toppings, Good chewy dough, the right amount of moisture. Yum after Squamish outdoor activities! Vegetarian options: Many options!

Incredible pizza we got the fun guy and mama pesto. Both were amazing. Love that they dont charge extra for vegan cheese (I wish other places did this!). Highly recommend, its on par with New York pizza! Vegetarian options: Easy to change any pizza and make it vegetarian or vegan or gluten free. They dont charge extra for vegan cheese!

Probably the best pizza i ve ever had. The garlic knots were also phenomenal. Service was also great, the waiter frequently checked in, brought water as needed, was friendly, pleasant, and smiled a lot. The building itself is a bit small without much seating and i d imagine that could contribute to really long wait times. Amazing pizza, hopefully I get the opportunity to come back here.

Food is really good, but holy christ the waitress was stressful, always on the cmon hurry up and it took like 40 minutes to have our plate and the place was almost empty... the food is delicious but the service is bad, I recommend only take out, not to dine in, and its not that cheap

Lived in Squamish for a long time and only tried this place for the first time last night, I can say I ll most likely never get from any of the other pizza options in town this is the best one so far..i got the joelapeno , it was delicious, will definitely be back for any future pizza nights.

The pizza was okay, but nothing special. Decent quality toppings and crust, however they missed the added on topping. Service was friendly, but we were not checked on after dropping off the food until we were ready for the bill, where we were charged for the missing topping. The restaurant was pretty dirty, and our cups and plates were as well. Probably a better experience as just take out.

Everything about this place is great!! The food, the people and the atmosphere! Definitely come here if you are looking for great pizza!

Wow! Best pizza Ive had in a long time, especially for the price! Amazing fresh tasting quality ingredients and dough, for a very reasonnable price. Kudos to the cooks and chefs. Its a shame we live in Pemberton because we would definetly eat there more often!

I hate leaving poor reviews but I was pretty disappointed. We waited nearly 2 hours to get 3 pizzas. Two were tasty, the crust is definitely good, but the pear pizza had no cheese and maybe one slice of prosciutto ripped into 3 chunks and spread over the pizza. We tried calling but we couldnt get through because they werent selling any more for the night. Very disappointing, it had been highly recommended and the wait time built up the expectation.

Sad to leave such a low review. We waited a few hours in the rain to eat here based off of the amazing reviews we were super eager to give them a try! And coming from out of town we thought it was a must spot. After waiting a few hours til open we went in just to be met with a rude take out only It wouldve been fine if there was a sign either on their website or on their door, but after talking to another customer they shared that the restaurant told them over the phone a week ago that dine in was an option. The food smelt good, but I cant get over how rude the lady was.

Picture the scene, you have two nights in Squamish, the second night, Saturday night, you can t wait to eat at Joe s because it looks great. You walk in at 8.15, knowing they shut at 9. It s Saturday night so on the walk over you are concerned there might not be a travel. As you arrive, it s empty, and more than it being empty, you are told that there s no dough so they can t serve or sit you. This isn t actually a hypothetical situation. It s real. On a holiday weekend, tonight, Saturday 18th. The wood fired pizza place doesn t have enough dough to serve customers at 8.15 and they shut at 9. Worst of all, a 5 pizza takeout stack is handed over as we enter. 1 star for having no dough when producing a dough product. Don t worry, we still love Squamish and The Copper Coil, where we returned for a consecutive night because they have great servers, delicious beer and amazing bbq. Really I should give you 5 stars for helping us to have another amazing evening.

Pizza is probably not worth the price. The most expensive pie in town. Tastes fine, and the kinds of pizza they offer are pretty interesting, but theyre more interesting than actually good.

Few woodfired pizza restaurants do it correctly. They do. The crust was fabulous! But, on top of that, we didnt have the right credit card so they comped us the entire meal! One of the nicest things Ive seen. Wow! If you want fantastic pizza served with a kind, generous heart, I would highly recommend Joe Pestos pizza!!!

Just gonna start by saying this was the best pizza me and my partner has ever had hands down. The pizza options are endless. However, we could not place an order for pickup via phone (the lines were shut down) so we had to drive down and place an order which took 45 mins to be ready. I understand they must be super busy, we dont mind the wait at all, but the staff was really rude and sassy with my partner when she went and picked up the order. Man what a cool place, just dropping with charm. The owners wife poured us Tequila and taught us a few things about how to properly drink it. The food was amazing, nothing fancy or overboard just the perfect amount of new and fun and flavour. This is a must try!

THIS STORY; HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW TO US!!! Update your hours! UPDATE YOUR HOURS! We called 3 times this after noon to confirm hours / order a pizza to have ready for us at the end of our day and they never answered once. We cut our day short so we could come swung by at 8pm to make sure we could get some pizza (as the hours stated that the shop is open till 8:30... even though the voice-mail machine said were open till 9 .... you are closed already at 8:01.... this has happened to us twice now. No reputable resturant business should have this kind of inconsistency and unreliability. Extremely unimpressed. Fix your hours, sell us some actually pizza and maybe Ill take another Crack at a review. Cheers, Go somewhere else. Dont waste your time. -it was on Sunday. Also, if thats the case, perhaps say that on the voice-mail so people dont just think your employees are busy amd try calling back 3 times like we did...

We came in on Joe s bday and he was celebrating by practicing his craft in the kitchen. Ordered 2 delicious gluten free pizzas, crust was great toppings were generous. Staff were careful about cross contamination which we appreciated. Happy bday Joe!

We came into the restaurant (2 families with kids) and were not sure if they were open. The server smiled and said, Come on in. After three wood fired pizzas and some beers, the hungry was gone. I might try a custom pizza next time. The server was also helpful in taking pictures of the family. Gotta appreciate that.

Finding a good pizza place in BC is really hard let alone in the sea to sky i had been meaning to try this place for awhile got a half and half spicy italian and veggie plus. It was fantastic the usual problem with pizza places out here is the crust its usually too thick or overcooked or too heavy. This place has cracked it and delivers a solid pizza.

Pizza was very tasty, but perhaps the most expensive I have ever eaten. We had the Aloha and the Carnivore. If you are wondering if the wood fired pizza is 16, like the classic (as we were), it is not. It is more like 12, for the same price. The meat toppings were all very thinly sliced, which was ok, but I personally prefer a little more substance. We ordered early, as advised, but still had to wait nearly 30 minutes beyond the time I was told the pizza would be ready. Apparently, someone failed to show up for their shift on time. I was told that they have been take out only since the start of the pandemic. This is unfortunate, because the place looks really nice inside. Hopefully, they can open up soon. It would be a great spot to have a couple beers with your pizza, or while waiting for it to arrive.

It can be said to be a treasure pizza shop. For a Chinese stomach, their pizza is quite good! The special wood-fired pizza has thin and chewy crust, high-quality cured sausages, and rich cheese that is not greasy! It is said that there are other very good flavors, you can try it next time!

Do not recommend. Last time I had a pizza there was hair and no cheese. Heard this from others. Chef has long hair and plays with the dough. He rolls it behind his neck. Talked to owners. They never made good

Joe Pesto was my happy place until yesterday. I waited the clock to strike 4PM to order the pizza but the one I got looked stale and barely had any cheese and suace. I still had the pizza thinking to let it go but shouldn t have. It got me sick and costed me a shift.

Below average, soggy pizza. The one with beets was particularly wet, veggie supreme was more palatable

Due to unfortunate circumstances, we could not make it time to get the pizza before they closed and were stranded on the side of the road. Spent the day in Squamish yesterday and after reading reviews of Joes Pizza we had to try it out. Loved that they offer vegan and gluten free options. The pizza was fantastic and we wouldn t have known it was a gluten free crust! So good.

I came here due to the amazing reviews. Because of that I left disappointed. If I had come with no expectations I would have been satisfied. No more, no less. I can t comment much on the service since they are only doing take out at this time. What I can say though is that for the 2 minutes I was inside, the lady I spoke with was kind and efficient. I tried the margherita and pepperoni pizzas. The crust on both pizzas was fantastic. Slight crunch on the initial bite into a nice and soft inside. The pepperoni crust was slightly soggy but I can t nit pick considering the generous portion of pepperoni and the amount of oil pepperoni has in it. The pizza sauce as well was good. It was not anything memorable but it had a nice sweet tang to it. The margherita pizza was disappointing. As you can see in the photos below they were quite skimpy on the cheese. A few slices almost had no cheese at all. On top of that the cheese was cheap and rubbery. This was the most disappointing/baffling part of my experience. It s hard for me to understand how you can have a fantastic crust, a good sauce and then decide to cheap out on both the portion and quality of the cheese. Half of the bites were simply crust and sauce, which still tasted good, but wasn t what I wanted. As for the pepperoni pizza, it was good, but not amazing. The pepperoni on top kind of overpowered the over all taste. That s my only complaint as far as the pepperoni goes. Google reviews usually suck because they are rarely objective. I wish this business nothing but the best and I hope future patrons find this review both helpful and fair!

For the last two years we have been trying to get a pizza from this place. They never answer their phone. The website says they close at 8 and if you get there at 7:30 you will be told they are closed!

Was looking forward to this pizza for some time but can t say it was anything better than average. 16 plain pepperoni was just over $35 delivered (plus tip) which seems excessive. Pepperoni was a little strong flavoured for my taste and the weird thing about it was occasional bites had a foreign non pizza taste which I assume got picked up from the oven (at least I hope that s where it came from). Nothing to brag about that s for sure. Hoping Hell s Crust opens soon!

Joe Pestos makes the best pizza I have ever had. Thats the bottom line. If youre new in town or havent tried Joes before, get a wood fired pizza (theyre all great), and get ready for an experience. We went from an occasional order on special or lazy nights, to big, weekly orders, over the course of just a few months. The only real downside is that Joes has ruined all other pizzas for me. No joke. Eating a regular big-brand pizza just isnt as enjoyable as it used to be.. So be warned! Top picks: Joe Bites - great doughy cheesy appy. Margarita - Super simple and light. Fraternal Cheese - So much cheeeese!

The website has a great menu with many options. A limitation is the inability to order online. I spent about 10 min trying to get through over the phone which is understandable since I heard they were very popular. I ordered 3 wood-fired pizzas (mama pestos fav, veggie d-lux plus, the pearfect) and two boxes of Joe bites with extra cheese which was ready in just over an hour - a little long but understandable. The pizza was alright and the cheesy bites were sub-par. The second box of bites was doughy sadness (no garlic nor cheese), that also tasted very yeasty. The pizza could have used more sauce but was fine otherwise. To be fair, I think they were understaffed and overworked. I have heard good things about this restaurant so I think this was a one-off experience.

Ordered from here for the first time last night and YUMMMM!!! This will be our new go to :-D For bonus points: They were busy but able to tell me exactly what time the pizza would be out the door and it arrived promptly at the committed time, which is not always easy for a small independent.

Waited for 5 minutes to make a takeout order while the employee at the door chatted with the customer picking up ahead of me and was then told I had to wait so she could serve the people behind me picking up before I could order. Wasnt going to wait to order a pizza after service like that

Ordered 2 pizzas and was disappointed with both. Pizzas tasted very bland and the crust was soggy. This was totally the opposite of what my wife and I expected. We wont be ordering again.

The NY size joe-rogie half Italian spicy was MASSIVE. Crust was nice and chewy and the meat was loaded on and perfect amount of spice. My favourite was the wood fire joe-ziki, the crust did not taste gluten free at all and it was chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside with perfect spotting on the bottom. The toppings were loaded on but it was perfectly cooked and not soggy. Staff was extremely friendly and did disclose that they will be extremely busy later so it was best to order early.

Looks like a great place to eat, unfortunately we arrived 45 mins before closing time and were denied service. I asked the hostess to clarify as it was 7:15pm and she informed me they closed at 8:00pm but sorry, they re done for the night. Perhaps restaurants being closed for the better part of a year and a half still hasn t incentivized them to work and keep the doors open. Customers don t seem to be a priority unfortunately. Response to owners comments, Sold out of dough but still making orders for another hour? Short staffed? Busy night? The place was EMPTY and the staff was unapologetic and seemed inconvenienced by our presence, 1 star is too good for a place that turns away paying customers and can t properly manage the logistics of a Sunday night in the off season You want empathy and understanding but respond to legitimate criticism with snarky remarks and a condescending tone rather than a simply apology and acknowledgement. Seems the ownership has as much to learn about customer service as the staff.

I love coming to Squamish for a variety of reasons but food and dining is definitely not one of them. However, after being provided with top notch service and extensive menu options, Joe Pesto s has presented me with a staple for future trips. Our waitress seated us immediately and was extremely attentive to our needs throughout the course of the meal. The menu is thoughtful and diverse. AND the restaurant dog, a Golden Retriever named Coach, will greet you upon your arrival and departure... don t worry he looked and felt very warm in his sweater and dog bed even in February. PRO TIP: order a bigger pizza than you think you need and take it with you on the slopes or trails the next day.

Not too bad! Good selection of beers from local brewers and large range of pizza options. I believe this is the only wood fire pizza place in Squamish. Only complaint is the pizza was too saucy for me

Amazing pizza and garlic bites, they had the freshest tasting toppings and crust! I ordered pick up and the service was hassle free and fantastic.

It was pretty okay for a pizza to-go. The pizza was good! I just wish a cheese pizza hadn t cost me close to $18.

Perfectly crispy/chewy gluten free crust, on Time, friendly staff, local, enough said, go here

I recently used Joes for a very small, distanced wedding dinner. We also advance-tested their goat mozza and gluten free crust so we could describe to our guests. First, the owner, Christy, was so lovely and helpful in accomodating a 7-pizza order. It all came up perfectly cooked, nice and hot, and on time. All my guests were thrilled. Second, their gluten-free is dramatically better than any other gluten-free crust Ive ever tried. (The goat mozza was good, if you need it, but not quite as stretchy and yummy? Id go cow mozza if you can.) Also, there were some nuances with our order due to half-and-half orders, that made the cook concerned that we might not get the best result with one of the pizzas, and Christy communicated this to me, well in advance, and helped us choose a great solution. But the main thing is the taste. This pizza is just unbelivably good. But the service was also perfect. Cant go wrong. Thanks so much for your flawless contribution to our special day :)

Taste is so good ! We had to wait around 1h to get our pizza but the wait worth it :)

Pizza was delicious. It is too bad the restaurant is closed for dine in, but it is great that take out is still available.

Great pizza

Easily the best Pizza in Squamish. And the GF/non dairy options are awesome. My girlfriend gets the GF option and its as good as the regular crust unlike most GF pizzas which are like cardboard. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Love their pizza so much looking forward to when we can get back into the restaurant to eat as it s so good fresh out of the oven!

Kind customer service, great delivery efficiency. And the pizza was to die for. Might be the BEST pizza we ve ever had. At first we thought the pizzas were smaller than expected but boy were we wrong. They re so loaded with toppings it more than filled us up! Amazing, unique, delish flavour! Awesome. Thank you!!

Local favourite of mine, classics done right. Staff are friendly and pies are bang on. There caesar is great.
