Howe Sound Inn & Brewing Squamish's original Craft Brewery, Brewpub & Inn. Located in Downtown Squamish at the heart of Sea to Sky Country. Est. 1996
We really enjoyed staying here and will come again. The bed and pillows were great, the toast, danish, croissants, cereals, granola bars, coffee were all a great addition for free which we enjoyed. Yuri at the front desk was very helpful on a couple of occasions, thank you Yuri!
Spent one night at the Howe Sound Inn, and the location is excellent. The rooms are nice but somewhat dated. The staff at the main reception were a bit distant and not very welcoming. The breakfast offerings were limited to small items like danishes, oatmeal, granola bars, fruit cups, and small cereals. It would be nice to see more substantial options, such as bagels or muffins. Additionally, serving breakfast in the hallway felt intrusive to the other guests; the restaurant or conference room setting would be better. We dined at the restaurant for dinner, where our server was excellent, but the food itself was unremarkable and lacked flavor. Overall, our stay was decent, but I'm uncertain if I would choose this location again in the future.
I've stayed at the hotel multiple times as well as gone to the Brewery/Restaurant as well several times (both as while a guest at the hotel as well as when I was a guest elsewhere and wanted to land at a place I knew had good food). So the hotel, I would give a 4 to 4.5 stars. It's on the smaller side and the rooms are a little dated. Clean, front desk staff has always been nice and courteous. Great location, although the parking situation in Squamish can be odd at times (there are some areas you can't park your car overnight so you have to find parking in places that does allow it). As far as the Brewery, they have a great selection of beers on tap, options to buy beer to take with you as well as great food. They have a pretty good happy hour as well (both early and late). Daily specials as well if I remember right. Also a number of TV's if you want to watch the sports ball (Yay Team!).
Howe sound brewing is our standard post hike pit stop that I've been going to for years. Food is good service has been good until yesterday. A waiter yelled at the ladies next to us because they politely asked for water. I have never seen such uncalled behavior and will not let my children see that behavior normalized.
We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights in August. We did not eat at the restaurant or the continental breakfast that was provided so cannot speak to the food. We loved the location. Free easy parking and walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and cozy. Beds are a bit hard and there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Mornings can be a bit loud outside so would have been nice to close windows and have a/c instead. I would still stay again for 1 or 2 nights.
We have travelled across Canada and this was the worst meal we’ve had in the country! I wish I was exaggerating ! We ordered the cheddar and ale soup.. terrible! We ordered the nachos, bland salsa and definitely needed more cheese. Two of the wings looked like they might be budgie wings they were so small. Save yourself the $2 and don’t get extra ranch.its brutal too. The mushroom pizza was sweet, cold and not good. and the beet salad was drenched in dressing and had 2 lbs of beets in it! The service is exactly like the other reviews.. not rude or anything but lacking something. I’m giving it 2 stars because I like the ski chalet vibe. I have never posted a review on a restaurant but I felt compelled to when I saw that overall the rating was 4.5.
From the moment I walked into this brewery I was obsessed with how beautiful it is!! The taproom is absolutely gorgeous and they have a large, beautiful patio as well. We came during happy hour and the prices were great for beers and some food choices. They have a large selection of beers available, as well as many seasonal choices. Everyone who works here is so friendly, the service was great. Would highly highly recommend!! I can’t wait until I’m back in Squamish to go again!
We just had our daughters wedding here. We booked out all the room and banquet rooms so the families could move around the hotel without having to worry about other guests. The staff were fantastic. They helped set up the room and it looked amazing, the food was fantastic and there was so much food. Overlooking the Chief made for amazing views and pictures. The venue is a perfect size for a 60 person wedding with ample room to walk around. We would highly recommend holding your wedding at the Howe Sound Inn.
Brew pub review: DONT GO Today im going to be charged $25 for $5 worth of chips from save on foods. 2 layers is not the way to describe this monstrosity. Hardly any sour cream, hardly any toppings. No more brussel sprouts on the menu, no more pizza on the menu, and the nachos should not be on the menu.
Awesome atmosphere. Amazing beers. Sky pilot and rail ale my favorite. Sandwich with smoked pork, so delicious Come back 100% Rooms : 4/5 |
The inn is in a great location. However, certain bookings are deceptive. I was there for a business trip and booked through zaptravel.com. I paid $212 total for a one night stay; and thought I was getting decent value for the room. When I got there, they wanted $100 for a security deposit; which I thought is standard practice. Upon check out however, the front desk gave me a receipt for another $160 charge. The woman at the desk said its not related to the $100 deposit and that its possible that zaptravel.com books through Expedia. She even said I should only book through Booking.com or Expedia in the future. Needless to say, I found the whole interaction a bit suspect.
It said there was a breakfast but it was very limited NO coffee had to us the coffee maker in the room, never seen that before, the creamer in the room was powder,
We had dinner at Howe Sound Brewing and the service was great, the beer was beer, and the food was abysmal. We both had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and wow it was disappointing: the chicken tasted like a microwaved slab of processed chicken-type product, with a lukewarm bun, and all the spicy flavour of mayonnaise. A McChicken is gourmet compared to this abomination. Fries were good, but my side Caesar salad was basically romaine with Kraft dressing. Almost $70 for two chicken blandwiches, one pop and one beer? Ouch. Won t be back. Food and drinks: We had dinner at Howe Sound Brewing and the service was great, the beer was beer, and the food was abysmal. Howe is great, good variety of beer/ poutine. But, only one type of cider.
Restaurant is expensive and very mediocre. Chicken on burger was very tough and dry, just plain mayo used as the dip with sweet potato fries. Burger was small and uneventful. Friendly service though. Unfortunately will not be back.
We hosted our wedding celebration in the firebread room. Kyley was an amazing event coordinator, everything was perfect! All of our guests loved the foods, drinks, atmosphere, and staff.
BE AWARE! They will charge you automatically 18% for tips if you are in a group without telling you wich is absolutly unacceptable and if you pay with the card the machine will also ask you for tips.. so if you dont pay attention to youre bill you can end up paying close to 40% in tips. We were all Squamish residents at our table some of us for over 15 years and we will never go back there again.
Exceptional beer and excellent service. So many beers to choose from and a great food menu too.
Food was just okay.
After Furry Creek Golf & Country Club cancelled our wedding 37 days prior to the event, Kyley, the Events Manager, and the entire team at Howe Sound Inn & Brewing swiftly came together and put on the BEST wedding reception we could have ever imagined! Kyley went above and beyond to ensure the event was flawlessly executed and made the entire planning experience stress free. From the moment I met her, I immediately knew we were in very capable and highly detail focused hands. For a 90 person wedding, Kyley made sure to have plenty of staff available for food and beverage service which made for an effective, efficient, and comfortable dinning experience. Kyley and her team created custom cocktails and special entrees that were specific to certain guest dietary restrictions. From the buffet, to the desserts, to the late night pizza snack, and endless cocktail and tap beer options, our guests enjoyed it all! We cannot thank Kyley enough and highly recommend Howe Sound Inn & Brewing for those looking to host a private event or wedding reception in beautiful Squamish!! Kyley, you literally saved our day and we are forever grateful for your endless kindness and compassion.
First time visit. Went here for my wife s birthday dinner and was thoroughly disappointed, I ordered a soup with sandwich and the soup was disgusting. I couldnt eat more than one taste of the soup, the waiter even acknowledged the soup wasnt touched and never offered to remove it from the bill. Halfway through my meal I asked for a refill on my drink, the waiter forgot about my refill and i had to ask him again after my meal was almost finished, I had about 2 sips and he charged me for it. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich and said it was completely bland and had about 2 bites and didn t finish it. The only positive was the waiter was great with my kid and I respect that he admitted he forgot about my drink. Will not return, not happy with the bill and lack of flavour.
We had lunch at the restaurant and ordered a hamburger and poke. Both were tasteless. The staff was super friendly and helpful Service
The service the service the service One star is too high The staff refuse to give their names The staff refuse to uphold promises they themselves have made The location is good Food is ok Beds are not great, no kettle in the room But the way we were treated as guests and patrons was beyond terrible
Great atmosphere in the pub. Gen is a great bartender. Fish and chips were awesome. Hotel is nice but no AC in the rooms.
Amazing place - never ceases to surprise with great food, friendly staff and craft beer
Just picked up my takeout order of a nashville hot chicken sandwich. The cook did not dip the chicken in the chilli oil making this a very plain chicken sandwich. If youre gunna charge me 25$ for a sandwich at least go to the effort of making it correctly... Update: Decided to give these guys a second try as we had a company lunch yesterday. The food quality was exceedingly poor. We paid 40$ for a platter of veggie nachos. It was literally half a bag of nacho chips, 2$ of cheese, 1$ of beans, and .50c of olives. They tasted awful. I make better nachos at home and they cost a 1/4 of the price. Tried the nashville chicken sandwich again, they actually cut the chicken in half now so it is super thin and in some spots is so thin it is just batter. A year and a half ago you guys were making the best nashville hot chicken sandwich in town. Now it is easily the worst. You seem to forget that dipping the chicken in chili oil is what makes it a nashville hot chicken sandwich. I understand you have to make money and inflation and all the other excuses, but you would be better off raising your prices and maintaining the food quality, rather than just insulting your customers with this crap.
Brewery review: BC #7 (Brewery, Bar #2); came here for happy hour our second evening in Squamish. Tremendous value and good beers with a good selection. We ordered the hazy IPA and pilsner. Drinking these in the sun on the back patio was a treat. The staff and vibes are very solid here as well. We came back the next day to get their lunch special but unfortunately the kitchen was having issues and we were on a tight timeline. The staff did a solid job of communicating things. Would happily return if I find myself in Squamish either for lunch and/or drinks on the back patio. Hotel review: ended up staying here our first night in Squamish as our original place fell through. We spent one night here and one night down the road at Crash Hotel. Howe Sound is more dated but has more of a personal touch. While the rooms arent as modern as Crash, you will get the benefit of the staff and hospitality. Also, breakfast, while a bit spartan, is included where at Crash you simply get in-room coffee.
We stopped by for a beer and some food and it took 2 hours to get our meals. Maybe it was just an honest mistake but it was still a pretty bad experience. Food was OK, beer was average for a microbrew.
Beautiful sunny patio - great view of the CHIEF mountain
Our room has a nice view however I booked a room without that. Room, bed and washroom was clean and nice. Reception was fine. Main disadvatage was breakfast. No sugar free option or protein such as egg. Every thing (corns, juices, cakes, cookies, jam, ...) were full of sugar. Rooms
The food is passable, if it arrives. There are serious staffing issues. After we sat down, we noticed no food being served to any of the 30+ patrons for over forty minutes. When pizzas came out in a wave, it was cold. We, and two other tables sent it back to be warmed up. Because I followed my pizza to the oven, and waited, I actually received my pizza back. After 1.5 hrs waiting (twenty minutes after I finished my pizza) my wifes no bacon salad arrived, full of pork. I think the entire kitchen might have gone on strike for an hour. My brothers burger was burnt. At least we successfully waited out the traffic returning to Vancouver Update: they comped the meal, apologized profusely, and discounted the drinks, so solid recovery.
The atmosphere and beer is great! Although the service/food were both slow taking over 45 minutes to get our food which was cold when it arrived.
I worked with Kyley for an event at the Brew Pub. She among the rest of the staff were a dream! So friendly, adaptable, organized, and on top of everything. The space was clean and well set up. They crushed bar and food service with over 130 people coming into the space at once. I would highly recommend working with Howe Sound Brewing for your event or just stopping in for the evening!
The server was kind and considerate. But they list that there open till 11:00 but if you try and order any food after 9:00 the kitchen is closed. Super disappointed with the fact that they couldn t even squeeze us in at 9:15. What kind of bar style restaurant doesn t serve food after 9:00. Seems ridiculous!
Yes, the inside of the dining area is rustic and cottage like, and great for city folks to feel like they are far and away! But you are on the west coast. Look its an average pub with high ceilings and big windows, so it feel nicer than an average pub. The staff are very nice but seem inexperienced with serving customers because they are unaware of how long people have been waiting for first contact, food or the bill (or all 3 in our case, and for others around us. Just spend more time on the floor and make eye contact with people and check in, problem solved. Get a kitchen runner to take food to the table while its hot if you cant manage your orders adequately, check on the line for your food (thats your main job getting food to tables for paying customers)? Our pizza was cold after waiting forever, yes they nicely took it off our bill after an hour, no questions asked (I think it happens a lot she didnt look surprised and made the excuse the oven was on the opposite side of the kitchen?). The line cooks are also responsible for communicating to servers and management to get that food out there, period (get a bell and use your outdoor voice call server by name). Hey cook you see it sitting there you know how quick it gets cold, you cooked it! Be accountable or the restaurant loses money! I couldnt see or tell who was a manager. Come on spend more time on the floor check in with customers it literally takes two seconds per table, and check the line often, communicate with the servers or you run the food! Yes, you! Get busy thats why you get paid the big bucks and have more responsibility. At least know whats going on because you clearly dont. If the servers are not interacting with their tables where are they, in the kitchen? If so, why arent they looking for their food on the line and running it? Look, from what I could see the servers move at a snails pace when the restaurant was busy, management watch them and take note and have a scrum before the shift to manage expectations. If the kitchen is in the weeds then you need at minimum a line manager (who can run food if needed). The rooms: Expensive $300 a night for a VERY low end, motel type, keep your shoes on yucky room. Complete with old style adjoining doors where you can hear the people talking like they are in the room with you. Pray you dont get people who get in late, have sex, or get up super early to catch a plane. I say spend the money remove the doors (those days are over.) and drywall it (sound proof material in the wall while your at it, super cheap btw). At very least update the rooms, even a bit! Not like I didnt pay you enough. Look its not all doom and gloom. I get its a slower pace environment, organic and people are chillin, and most OK with low end cottage accommodations but not in this day an age of living in a country thats sucking our money dry and people going out less. Pull up your socks to earn and deserve all that money, raise your standards. Waiting tables and running a restaurant requires a lot of effort this isnt a desk job. Maybe good help is hard to find? Too bad not the customers problem.
We recently held our wedding reception at Firebread Hall, and everything was fantastic! From the moment we chose this venue, Kyley, the event manager, was incredibly supportive and helpful. She ensured everything ran smoothly on the day so we could relax. The food was excellent, and the mountain view was a delightful bonus. We would definitely recommend this space!
Servers were nice, forgot a few beers but whatever. The issue was they automatically added a 18% tip on buying packs of beer and on entire table because we had more then 5 people sitting dispite all us paying differently. Terrible communication of this policy . I ll tip what I want to tip but when u add it automatically without the option to not pay tip on packs of beer we got an issue. Shame on management for the lack of care and customer satisfaction. Servers at this location I would suggest mentioning this policy before making people pay 18% on buying packs of beer for later. upon asking the manager to figure the whole tipping on the cases of beer he delegated the task to another employee who didn t change a thing. Not impressed. Id stay away from the place
We used to like this place and came many times but this time it was not impressive. We had to wait over an hour to get our food. Service was poor. We had to repeatedly ask for water and napkins. The only time the server was attentive was when it brought the bill. We are not sure we will be back.
Food was acceptable. Service was very low almost nonexistent. Music was so loud none of us could hear the person next to us.
So soso
Went here based on a recommendation, but wouldn t come back. The food and drinks were very slow to come out. The starter came out with the mains and was missing some of the components. Service was friendly, but was very slow considering the restaurant was 50% empty. Food itself was mediocre and expensive , overall a bit disappointed.
We came as a family with 2 kids under 4. Of course kids were hungry. First ask was to order for the kids. And guess what? We ordered for parents and we had our plate and then the kids got their plates after multiple asks. That s not how a service should be in a restaurant! Food not that good.
Worst food service in the bar ever, you order a meal and then the meal comes out missing multiple items to only be told after its delivered its missing said items, you should be made aware of these potential missing items before you order. Disappointing to say the least.
Went here for for lunch, it was amazing! Had a vegan burger or meet burger with fries and a beer for 20. So delish. And the staff were some of the chillest people. Loved it!!!
Great patio seating with mountain view! Good beer / foods and great service! Everyone was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Tried their beer flight and my favorite was Howe sound lager!
Food and drinks: I am not sure about rooms, but restaurant does not offer quality food. This is my second try. First time last year, haf a mediocre burger. The second and last time I was there this July 13 with friends and i had a hungry hiker salad sour qinoa, no avacado. Tasting was off. My friend and bowl of tuna which was tasting disgusting. Not planning to go back there again.
Came here with someone who has celiac disease as there are lots of gluten free options available on the menu. Ordered a burger with the gluten free bun and our server was familiar with celiac and ensured he entered the order as an allergy. This made us feel confident that when the burger arrived it would be gluten free. After eating about half we realized it was not. Celiac is a very serious disease and even trace amounts of gluten can cause severe sickness, let alone half a burger bun. We accept and understand the risks of cross contamination but to be given the completely wrong item when an allergy was specified is completely unacceptable. Again, this was NOT the servers fault as he did what he could to note down all allergies, it seemed there was lots of poor communication and procedures happening in the kitchen as we had a problem with another menu item arriving with half the ingredients missing as well. We did get our meal comped which is appreciated but the damage was already done and we had to leave immediately to make it home before the symptoms started to kick in. If a restaurant seems to market themselves as allergy friendly with their menu they need to take allergies much more seriously as it can cause severe harm to people eating here.
Burger was $32, better be incredible...but no, one of the worst I have ever had. So salty it was near inedible. Beer was good and server was OK. Appies were OK and place was uncrowded. Wont be back tho...
Great burgers and beers
Tuna poke bowl was excellent. Cheese burger and fries was mediocre. How Sound Larger was bland and was not chilled enough - would not recommend. Service was poor, inattentive and the server had a bad attitude.
Pub was awesome, staff is awesome. Always leave a 25% tip these guys truly deserve it!
So I love the vibes of the inn no electrical key card a old school key has vibes of saying at a friends spare room at their parents. The main problem was we showed up at 1:26 pm and the room was not yet ready so we waited over an hour (got in our room @2:38) for our room and the wait on the food was just as long and over priced for the food and lots of little creaks and noises at night and thin walls also no air conditioner so can get hot. Other than that lovely area to walk around and explore
The food here is decent. Visited this restaurant twice on my last visit to Squamish. Service was pretty bad the second time. Buffalo wings and poke bowl were great. Their cheddar-ale soup was dissapointing. Rooms
Fantastic atmosphere. Nice service. Great beer!
Pizza was average. Ambiance was average. Service was below average. Not that the people weren t nice they were just not aware of people s needs. Went there twice. Thought it was a fluke. The people were very friendly but just not aware of when we needed something. And it took a while to get the pizza. And the bill.
Hosted a staff event at the brew pub. The space was beautiful and clean. The coordination with Kyley beforehand was clear, easy, and straight forward. She responded in a timely manner and allowed us to customize the night as we needed. Service of all the staff throughout the night was prompt, friendly, and professional. We hope to host more events at the Howe Sound Brew Pub! Highly recommend!
We went to the brewery and enjoyed home-brewed beer.
ok food and ok service here might come back again for a second chance chicken sandwich had zero spice and was not hot fries were fantastic
The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was very active and responsive to anything you might need. The real bonus having the restaurant Howe Sound Brewing connected to it. Their drinks were fairly priced, but their food was incredible. You need to try their fish and chips and the fall of the bone ribs. Will come back again Food and drinks: There is a Japadog Less than 2 miles away and if you ve never had it, you should go try it
We at at the brewery and it was AMAZING! Our server was super friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. I had the hikers bowl - recommended with brisket (I had chicken which was very good!). My husband had the chicken capresse - wow. Highly recommend this spot!
Confusing and confrontational front desk check in. We had paid in advance and the hotel worker (after showing proof of payment on my phone) insisted I must have made a different booking and forgotten about it. After this she let me check in and wrote down my credit card for incidentals and said they would contact me before charging my card. She charged my card 29$ - (pet fee we owed was 25 + tax) with no notice. I have cancelled my cards and wont be back.
Theyve been on a downward spiral for awhile. The final nail was when I noticed that I had been charged for 2 however sound lagers and one skypilot and when I contested the hobbit of a server he came back and said thats what I had despite my compatriots making comments on following their lead. Just absolutely tragic service. Im not coming back absolutely atrocious service and I once waited an hour to even get served a beer last year.
Went for dinner and had excellent service and super fun atmosphere. Great beer selection and great food too.
Greedy restaurant manager wont be flexible on one person size anything, every share type dish is only large not single. Lack of flexibility gets a zero from me. Queso is meh, nothing special. Service is basically zero too. It really depends on whos working the level of service
The food here was superb! The Chicken Caprese Sandwich was delicious! The only complaint is that our order took almost 40 minutes to arrive... There was a wedding reception or something going on, so maybe thats why, but it was way too long. Otherwise, I highly recommend eating here. Oh, their fries are amazing!!!
Giving a 3 normally its a good experience but this most recent time they had supplier issues so the menu was very limited. I had a huge hair in my order. They remade it, and it had 2 smaller hairs. The server was mortified of course and never charged for the dish but I couldnt eat anything else. Hopefully whatever issues they have going on get fixed soon.
Tracey was absolutely amazing her service truly made our visit memorable! Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care transformed our dining experience. Highly recommend because of Traceys exceptional service!
Ate here with friends and it was wack and food was nothing special. 1) food takes 30 mins to arrive after we waited 20 minutes to be seated 2) as soon as we finished the food they were in a rush to get us out the door for no reason. It wasn t even busy too 3) the waiter we got was soooo weird. No small talk given and he linked his arm under my friends to give the machine to pay. Overall weird vibes, mid food, not worth it
They have bed bugs. If I could give no stars I would. I would not stay here, no room service either.
My buddy stayed here for work there was zero house keeping , he was paying 200$ a night for a room with bed bugs manager gave him 30 percent off for one night and he stayed for 7 days . I recommend not staying here .
Great food and drinks. Good happy hour options and good service
Their website menu is not at all the same as inside. Hardly 1/4 of the menu they have on their own website for the Squamish location. Left without ordering
Good food, home brewed beer. Fabulous eats after a quick paddle on Brohm lake. Pooch friendly patio is what brought us here this time. Although the patio was windy the staff was very accommodating with fleece blankets. Nice view of the Squamish backdrop from the entrance. Food and drinks: Burgers with fresh ingredients. Good sized salads with extra protein!
Terrible experience of Inn, loud and uncomfortable rooms. When we went to the pub to eat - it closed 2 hours before the time reception told us it will be open to. They also do not have breakfast for hotel guests. Not coming back!
We re regulars and come twice a month. No pizza today bc they are short on staff. Disappointed but ok. I ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich and it may have been the worst chicken sandwich I ve ever eaten. I would have enjoyed the $7 sandwich at Wendy s immensely more. Over cooked, no flavour and the thinnest piece of chicken I ve ever seen on a sandwich . Disappointed. On the bright side the beer was good and the server was super friendly and made the experience better. Maybe only beers and no food going forward.
No pizza. Veggie options not great. Welcoming for children though.
The food is not bad by Canadian standards, but one of the waitresses seems to have been annoyed because we dont speak English perfectly and I think she has decided to talk to us faster and faster. May God preserve it as his country, so that karma does not do its work.
This place has quickly become a tourist trap. It used to be you could buy a few appetizers and feed your family. Howe Sound Brewing has taken this a step further with their new menu; now you can spend the same amount for a mediocre portion of nachos.
Contractor night there was good in the Garibaldi room, food was good but service for drinks was slow
The beer is delicious. They dont have smoked chicken wings any more, but the burgers are great Location
Great dinner! Beer was cold. Staff was very friendly and we got the best sunset.
This past weekend we held our wedding reception in the restaurant & Garibaldi Room The food was delicious , the atmosphere was amazing, all 80 of our guests had a fantastic time zero complaints. Those that stayed in the hotel for the weekend thought it was charming little place(maybe needing an update as the rooms are outdated) Staff were all friendly. This would have been a 5 But when we went back to get our flowers that we were told would be safe in the fridge we were asked to come back after 4pm when we went back they couldn t find them and told us they had accidentally been thrown out.
Food and drinks: It was a nice restuarnt but the service was poor, the waiter did not come once after taking our order, the food was dry, the chicken wings were burnt and very dry, the burger was dry plus the bun was hard, the fish and chips batter was burnt and the poutine was cold, I had to get my own utensils, it was not worth the price .
Very cozy and authentic looking cottage/restaurant with nice burgers and beers
Always enjoy trying out breweries & local beer when Im in a new area so decided to try out Howe Sound since I made the drive up to Squamish. I just went with their Hazy Daze N.E. IPA since the hazy style of beer is one that usually enjoy. Overall it was a solid beer, fresh crisp flavor and not too bitter. Give it a try if you ever come to this brewery. Its a sizeable place with a good amount of tables and it was very busy when I went, but luckily there were bar seats readily available. Its a very woody interior that looks like a ski/snow chalet. I saw that there was also an outside patio but the tables were not set up to be seated. You can also see the mountains. There are several parking spots right in front of the place. It looks like this place is connected to an Inn as well and when you enter the front entrance, the brewery is to your left, while what I believe is the inn check-in to your right. Im only not giving a higher rating because I did not really get those good, welcoming local brewery vibes when I visited. The staff were not rude by any means, its just that it left much to be desired. They offered no insight into the beer and options and were just not that friendly. If I was craving a fresh tap beer in Squamish I suppose Id go back, but Im not rushing to return. Cheers! We had been there once before and we drove back for it from Vancouver, which says a lot. There is something about the vibe of this place. Once you walk through the doors....it feels like youre home, open the fridge grab a beer and sit back and enjoy the view by the fire....that kinda feel ...you know? We were there at Happy Hour. Loved the Howe Sound Lager...had it with the fish n chips which was so good we ordered it twice. My first time trying fried pickles....it paired really well with the Lager. Ill tell you how. The Howe Sound Lager is a perfect mix between a crisp/light and creamy taste with a wonderful aftertaste finish of citrusy fruit hinting at floral. Super refreshing and top notch quality. Anything fried including fried pickles are on the heavier side because of the batter, but with the flavour profile of the pickles you now have the spice and sharp juice complementing beer texture. A Perfect Dance. The Dirty Fries I probably wouldnt order again. Not that there was anything wrong with it...it was a good side for HH....just didnt excite me. The service was friendly and attentive and the space itself is quite roomy, so if youre like me and personal space is a must for you....youll feel comfy here. You are beautiful Squamish. Thank you for hosting us and the great time.
Honestly.... If you want a 10/10 dining experience in Squamish, please visit Howe Sound Brewing! I Dined here for Christmas and it was a very exceptional experience!!! I love the ambiance! the staff members (i.e. Bartenders, servers, ect) were very welcoming, friendly and professional. the Food is absolutely delicious!! ( the Turkey Roulade 10/10, the braised shortrib was absolutely delicious) and the beer was good! Also I have the pleasure of meeting the chef Adnan. He is very friendly, helpful and respectful!! I really appreciated his help and recommendations of Whistler´s nightlife bars. This is a worthy place to visit in Squamish. I look forward to dining in Howe Sound Brewing in the Future!
Stopped in for lunch, very nice. sandwich was good and the Cherry Porter was
Have you ever paid double the price a room normally is here just to sleep less than you would normally? We unfortunately paid to stay here for just that with the base of the restaurant going an hour later than we were advised was quiet hour. Save your sanity and your dollars stay somewhere else.
We are glad we found this gem in Squamish, established in 1996 is well maintained till date, we had a good stay at this property & the view from the window was incredible and there is a brewery in the property itself, so we didn t had to go out driving outside for the bars, the bartenders Harper/Randy both were awesome with their service & drinks, good to communicate as well. The Mango Habenaro beer was just too good, had couple of those. We loved this property & people, right from checkin the receptionist gave us an early check in, Highly recommended. 10/10 Rooms: The rooms are comfy enough with a great view & it has all the amenities. Nearby activities: Couple of good Bars & restaurants walkable. Food and drinks: Inhouse brewery with good food & beer
I had a terrible experience here today. I had called the brewpub around 2 pm to reserve a nice table by the fireplace as it is usually busy during happy hour - the lady who answered the phone told me they didn t take reservations less than two hours in advance, but it was okay for us to walk in and ask for the table as it wasn t that busy. However when we arrived, the blonde server/ hostess (who was already in a bad mood due to unknown reason) denied us seating by the fireplace, despite us nicely offering to wait until the previous group had left (we already saw that they were done paying and putting on their jackets). I asked her very nicely if it was possible to wait for that table. However she looked visibly annoyed at our request and very rudely brushed us off as if we were a nuisance - she slammed the menus on another table and said This is the only table I can do - are you taking it or leaving!?! The restaurant wasn t even half full. The group that was sitting there witnessed the whole situation and looked very uncomfortable, and they were nice enough to come to us asking if we wanted to sit there since they were about to leave. The server looked back at then smiled and said oh no you guys really don t need to leave because of them. completely changing her attitude towards them vs us. I never had bad service here when I came with my caucasian college friends but this time I had come with my two elderly Asian mom and aunt, so I am wondering if that had anything to do with the server s attitude. Reading the other reviews, it seems POC or Asian customers had similar experiences here. I work in the food industry, and worked as a server myself for many years in my twenties but that is no way to treat people even if you are having a bad day! :( P.s. I want to thank the other server who attempted to help us and tried to resolve the issue by asking the manager to put us in another section away from the rude blonde server. We did specifically want to sit in her section (it had a nice view of the chief + fireplace) so we left, we also just didn t want be served by someone that obviously hates customers.
I m leaving a review about the new Barley Wines. I have been a local of Squamish, born and raised. The Howe Sound Brew Pub over the years has come out with many good beers, but their new barley wines are the best thing to come out of this brewery in years!!!!! I am a whiskey drinker and the flavours of flavours of these wines aged it different barrels paired with other flavours are incredible! The Hanging Gardens and Port of Shadows are my favourite but the Hibernal and King Tide are good as well! They are very unique, smooth and if you like whiskey, you ll love these!!! Keep up the good work guys, and would love to see more like this!!! Keep the barley wines coming!
Great atmosphere, lovely staff and to our great surprise arguably some of the best pizzas we ve ever had. The sausage pizza and two vegetarian pizzas were unbelievable (particularly the one with balsamic vinegar). This place caught us so much by surprise that we went 3 times during our week in Squamish. Also has lots of TV s playing sport/pop culture on the walls to keep things entertaining. Highly recommend.
The brew pub has made a real comeback. Good work folks!
It was a very nice place and the food tasted very good. We all had pizza and they were delicious.
Greedflation, shrinkflation. Burgers are now $21, up 25% since Covid. Sub soup; $4 (with no warning). Wine now 5 and 8 oz instead of 6 and 9 oz. Tip options on card machine; 18%, 20%, 25%, on top of inflated prices and taxes. Beer is good and 20 oz glasses are appreciated even at $8.50. $100+ for a couple of burgs, a couple of beers a glass of wine and a dessert is outrageous.
we had a lovely evening with friends having a drink here in the outdoor terrace!
Great place! The restaurant is not actually pet friendly. Dont bring your furry friends. I was asked to leave when they saw I had a pet.
Great food and atmosphere, had lots of craft beer to try. Always had the hockey game on and lots of tables and space.
Food was very good, pizza was fantastic, and beer...exceptional!
Had dinner and stayed the night. Room was fine. A little dated but clean and comfortable. Dinner was excellent and the service was fantastic.
What a joke of a business 8 open tables but wanted us to wait for 45 minutes because there was only 2 guys in the kitchen . Said we were only having a beer, didn t need food. Still wouldn t seat us without waiting
Food is always great, year after year!!
Went for lunch on a weekday, and it felt like waitresses were there only for their regulars. We ordered beer and food, and sat with empty cups for an hour watching other later arrivals get served, beer refills, and chatted with. We finally asked another server (as ours wasnt making it to our end), if our food was arriving, to which we got an it should be as she walked by. Once our food was brought out, it was lukewarm and dry. We later had to flag another server to settle up, to which we got a condescending wave and hi (but at least she eventually made it to us), as our server was again too busy to make it to our end. Finally, as the bill was being printed, and the servers thought we couldnt hear, we heard some comments made about us. Overall, an unpleasant 2 hour experience for what we thought would be a quick beer and burger lunch, and while we recommend trying the beers, they can be purchased from liquor stores, and the Brewery itself can be avoided.
Desperately in need of a redo. paper thin walls. Next time I will sleep in my car. Rooms
Ordered the sour beer on tap and it came to me flat. Pizza took forever to come to the table and was only cheese and tomato sauce- not very impressed for $20.
Ate here last summer and loved the food and the beer, so I thought it d be fun to stay here. Terrible idea if you actually want to sleep- quiet hours are a joke- bar stayed open blasting music past closing. Don t stay here if you actually want to sleep!!
Fantastic restaurant.
Do not go here, the place was once the pride of Squamish...safe to say that is no longer! The beers list hasnt changed, the food service takes over an hour...and when it arrives its garbage...the new management is going to drive this place into the ground!
Service was too slow. We were ignored while we watched the server chat with co workers desperately trying to make eye contact. After 15 mins of waiting we had to leave seemed like servers were confused about how to do their job properly.
Ate in August as it was highly recommended. Shared pizza and ceaser salad. They were out of their bread pudding desert which we were looking forward to.
Great service, Awesome beers, and good prices especially at happy hour!
The food is good quality with reasonable pricing and there are a few dozen beers and ciders on tap. The wood fired pizza is a must-try. If the pub is full or too noisy for your taste, there is a restaurant across the hall with the same menu. Its a great place to go after a ski day in Whistler. EDIT: The last two times weve been here, the service has been poor. Forgotten items and very long waits to get your order taken or get the bill. Might try again or might look for a different place.
Its a very good Restaurant and Hotel with an excellent beer and awesome food, I will be here everytime when Im in Canada Food and drinks: Self-made beer with an incredible good taste and super delicious food
So dont usually do this but myself and a friend head to HSB and its says pleas wait to be seat so we and it was less than half full. We stood there for a couple of minutes and there was what looked like one waitress so ok then she walk by us twice and takes a payment from another customer so ok we waited then I asked the front desk person and said yes she will be there nope up at the I get being busy but ne eye contact or Ill be right there nothing and not mention the desk person came walked in right pass us so we left. Sorry but do better lots of other places to have a beer.
Dear Restaurant I recently visited your restaurant with a group of 10 people and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. requesting to have our tables moved together, we were told that this was not possible due to the layout of the restaurant. As a result, we were seated at separate tables which made it difficult for us to communicate and enjoy our meal together as a group. We were also quite disappointed that our request was not able to be accommodated, especially given the size of our party. Overall, we felt that our dining experience was not up to the standard that we expected from your restaurant. We hope that in the future, you will be able to find a way to better accommodate larger groups and ensure that all customers are able to enjoy their meals in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Really disappointing experience here recently, mainly because in the past it s been so good. This is the spot me and my friends always go when we re in Squamish. Normally everything is fantastic from food to beer to service. This time, here s what happened: - Got greeted and sat right away, which was great. - Server took our beer orders and drinks arrived via a runner promptly and tasted excellent. - We were ready to order but the server vanished for 20 minutes. They were clearly understaffed but not to the extent it took to be acknowledged. I had to wave down the hostess to order and she sent over the manager (I think), who took our order, a simple chicken pizza, that s it. - The pizza arrived an hour later and was burned (see photo). I hate sending food back unless absolutely necessary and we couldn t wait another hour, so I waved down the manager to ask for a knife to scrape off the ash from the crust so it s somewhat edible. He asked if I wanted it remade and I said no that s ok, just need a knife . He said he ll give us a discount. Didn t need it, we were just hungry and didn t want to consume ash. - No quality check as is normally the standard, and at this point the pub was substantially less busy. We finished the pizza and waited with an empty plate for probably 10-15 minutes before I waved someone down to ask for the bill. - The bill arrived with a $3 discount on the $21 pizza. Honestly no discount would ve been better. Our server finally showed up to accept payment even though she only took our drink order at the beginning and disappeared. I hate that I have to leave this review because I ve been a server, bartender, and bar manager at multiple places for many years. Sometimes it s super busy and someone calls in sick. I get it. Been there, and you just have to make it work. But I know what s possible even when it s busy, it doesn t take much to pass by a table and ask how it s going. It s not difficult for the support staff to help out the server by checking in on tables. At the very least, knowing how long your customers were waiting and how terrible their food looked upon delivery, a $3 discount and no apology is a bit of a downer The reason it s not a one star review is because we ve had great experiences here in the past so I m hoping this is a one off but not sure if it s worth the risk to try again. A bit of retraining can go a long way. I hope I can change this review back to 5 stars some day.
Not sure about the service as we didnt get any and left.
Awesome customer service! Great atmosphere and beer! Last year gave them a 1 star review for customer service so I m glad to see the improvements. Iliass and the team turned it around though! I was there for 4 hours. Lunch, beer and work, no problems.
Great place!!!!. Amazing panini and great staff :)! I will be back soon!
Always the best place for food and good times in the Squamish town!
Great food and beer selection.
Wish I could review the food but unfortunately there was no food to order :(
We ordered 2 pizzas and after half an hour of waiting found out they had no pizza. We then ordered a burger to share and we were given no napkins or cutlery even after asking. No one checked in on us and the beer was very flat. We also ordered happy hour beer but we were charged full price. We were looking forward to a nice beer and meal after hiking the chief and we left feeling very disappointed. The server told us at the end she understands the service was her fault and said we didn t have to tip her? We had to pay the full bill even though we didn t receive the food we wanted and didn t drink our beer.
We went for beers and some snacks after a long day of hiking. They had a decent happy hour menu with vegetarian options. The service could have been better, they forgot drinks and food multiple times. The atmosphere is pleasant, with great background music!
Brussel sprouts are amazing. Good place
Over the years we ve often eaten at Howe Sounds brewery and kept coming back. After yesterday s meal that s over. Food quality and service has greatly diminished. Will not be going back again. Overpriced and underwhelming. Look for somewhere else.
Terrible service at the restaurant. Inattentive staff. Mediocre food. No pizza tonight due to staff shortage. Had to eat our dessert amongst our dirty plates as the servers couldnt be bothered to clear the dishes despite walking by several times. Pretty much reflects 75% of my visits over the past 20 years. Either the food or service or both are lacking. Beer is good though.
Excellent place for glass of beer. Reasonable price and good atmosphere
I cant recommend this place enough. We stayed one night to do the sea to sky hike which is incredible and we have been really enjoying our stay in Howe sound inn. The staff has been amazing. Building is beautiful too. Top ! Walkability: Ramp and lift Food and drinks: Good beer and great dinner.
Restaurant Hour long wait for okay food and okay beer
Went for lunch as was so amazed and impressed. The burger special for $15 is awesome. The burger was simply amazing and a beer to go along with it. Was a great experience. I was able to purchase the Hazy Daze and Hopraiser West Coast on the way out to enjoy later. A great experience. You will not be disappointed AND the service was exceptional. Enjoy and go back often!
Food was not good. Beer average.
We had to wait half an hour for a table only to be sent away afterwards because there was no room. Half the dining room was empty...
Clean, good service. Nice ppl working there. Recommended
Really really terrible experience! Super slow and inattentive service, crazy slow, almost ignorant service, Other tables or should I say friends were sat after us, and they got served instantly, while we were ignored for a good 20min once finally served we ordered drinks for our drinks to be given to the friends table!! Then wrong drinks given to us, another 20min later we finally got our drinks. Food was sub standard at best, poutine was very cold, and gravy was awful, the beet salad was absolutely terrible, with almost nothing in it, and the burger was a frozen Cisco burger with a stale bun, cheddar soup was just yellow water with some salt and pepper added So disappointing considering what it used to be: Management you need to shake your head and re structure,
Today was last visit to the restaurant. Really disappointing experience. We had a really amazing experience in the restaurant before every time our family and friends were stopping by Squamish. We waited 10 minutes for cutlery, plates and water refills when snacks and salads were on the table; waited 40 minutes for the main course and found out that the waiter forgot about order (and what we ordered).
Waiter made a mistake on ordering our meal. He owned it which we appreciated. Food was ok. Manager got involved and made the whole experience terrible such that we will not return to this restaurant and we are locals. Manager should find another line of work. Update next day to 3 stars from 1 - I just received an apology for the unprofessional behaviour of the shift supervisor from the general manager which is appreciated, so hopefully there has been a learning experience for the supervisor involved.
Took an hour and half to get out food and the place was pretty empty. Other tables that came in after us got their food first. The food was about what you d expect for pub food.
Review is only for the Brewpub and Restaurant. Good location 5 minute drive from Sea to Sky. Good selection of local brews, super pizzas.
I will say right off the bat the beer is amazing! Always! We were checking in after 3 days of wilderness hiking so we were really dirty, stinky, tired and hurting units! We got there at 3pm and tried to check in early as check in wasnt until 4pm. They said our room wasnt ready but we could go sit in the restaurant and wait. Thats fair if that was true which i cant prove wasnt true BUT we went in and out about 6 or 7 times all night back and forth to the car and shops and we didnt pass or see a single other hotel/inn patron. We didnt hear anyone else all night and every time we clicked the elevator button it opened. Like it was right where we left it. It felt like we were the only ppl there. It was eerily quiet. Again, i cant prove thats true, it was a feeling we had which in retrospect made it frustrating that we had to sit in the restaurant for an hour in our state after coming out of the bush when i believe there were room options that could have been given to us. In the restaurant the beer was amazing, food was more like frozen air fryer style appies and the service was very slow however cheerful. It took over an hour to get 1 appy, 1 beer and pay. The pizza looked really good though as its stone oven pizza so its made in house. Im sure we would have enjoyed that if we could have gone up and showered and cleaned up and felt like being out in a restaurant. The rooms did NOT have AC but the hallways did!! I stood out in the hallway just to cool down many times and still saw not 1 other patron in the hallways, ever. We had to open our door into the hallway and put fans there to draw the cool hallway air into the room to try to get the hot hot room cooled down. For $300 a night (taxes included) youd hope for AC, continental breakfast or cleaner rooms. Any one of those would have made it worth the money. The rooms were also not super clean. And granted, its very outdated and old so thats hard to keep sparkly clean but there was dust on surfaces that are used often, like the keurig. The toilet wasnt as clean as youd hope BUT after outhouses and bush peeing we couldnt be too ungrateful. I wouldnt stay there again for that price though without more creature comforts, nor would i recommend it to stay at. The beer though?! SOOO GOOD! also, the front desk staff were really nice as were the servers in the restaurant. No complaints there!!
Beers were great! Avoid the pizza
My partner and I have been here before and have always had a positive and pleasant experience. This past Canada Day, however, was extremely disappointing and we felt that it needed to be acknowledged. The server assigned to our table treated us very poorly from the moment we sat down until the moment we left. We were appalled at the treatment we received. We were seated at 2:45pm and were interested in ordering from the Happy Hour menu. While we were deciding what to order, our server told us we had 15 minutes until Happy Hour begun, so we ordered drinks and the Brussel sprouts to split in the meantime. When she brought our drinks, she accidentally gave me my partners drink and gave my partner mine, which was no big deal. We just said oops, other way around. She seemed irritated. The beer and Caesar were fantastic though. Once 3:00pm rolled around, our server had not yet come back to check on us and we had to flag her over to take our Happy Hour order. We had the Happy Hour menu in front of us and pointed to what we wanted while saying our order out loud. My partner ordered the personal pepperoni pizza, and I ordered the Caesar salad and the ale & cheddar soup. When I asked for the soup, the server responded with well which soup..? which confused me because there is only one soup on the entire menu. Once our food arrived, I was surprised that there was grilled chicken on my salad. I did not order any additional grilled chicken, and I checked the menu again in case there was a chicken Caesar salad on the menu and that there may have been a mix-up, but there wasnt. So I assumed that this is how it came. The pizza and salad were good, however the soup was extremely salty. I have had this soup before and I love it, but this time it was too salty to bear. She seemed even more irritated when I asked to return the soup. She never once came to check on us, and we always had to wave at her to grab her attention to which many times she ignored us. I was listening to how she was engaging with the other tables she was waiting on and she seemed to be relatively pleasant with them. Once our bill came, we were shocked (but not surprised, considering how we were treated the entire time) that we were charged for regular menu items, not the Happy Hour items (I believe the only Happy Hour item that was charged was the pizza). Our server knew we were there for Happy Hour and we literally pointed to the Happy Hour menu when ordering. She charged me for a regular menu Caesar salad with ADDED grilled chicken, which I never asked for. Plus, she didnt take the soup off the bill. She tried to argue with us, but we politely told her that she was wrong. She huffed, went to revise the bill, came back and said that she now took the soup off, and gave a discount on the salad. Again, we ordered the Happy Hour Caesar salad, without added chicken. She reluctantly stormed off again and revised it to the correct way it should have been all along and did not say another word to us. We were left feeling humiliated and in disbelief with the service we received. We felt personally attacked, for no good reason. We felt like she was deliberately trying to give us a hard time given how many issues came up, completely unnecessarily. One or two honest mistakes, no big deal - we understand that we are all human and not perfect. But there were multiple issues, one after another, and with every issue there was never any apology, and we received very short and passive aggressive comments. I do not want to make the assumption that it had anything to do with race, but my partner is a person of colour (Indian). This experience, we hope, is an isolated one, and we do intend on returning in the future, based off of our previous experiences. This particular one was just disappointing, and left us completely speechless and disheartened. Ellis (Bosagrape employee)
We stopped by this brewery for drinks after hiking the Chief. It wasn t that busy on s Saturday evening. The food and drinks were good but the service wasn t. Our server made us really uncomfortable. We felt rushed because if her and left earlier than planned because of it.
Great food
I rarely write reviews, but its sad what has become of Howe Sound. After a hike/run in Squamish, it was the place to go for food and beer, but that is no longer true. We gave it one more chance yesterday, and we walked out without any food, after waiting 45mins. Our waiter told us there was a printer problem, but we were pretty positive he never entered our order, and he wasnt even apologetic about it. Not even an effort to offer a comp in anyway, I didnt even drink my beer, but we paid and left. Its been a long time since Ive had that kind of experience at any place. Spend your money somewhere else!
Best grilled chicken burger and beer! Amazing service by Kaelle! Rooms
Beers were great. Lots of options. Brisket and Hot Nashville sandwich is good too. Nick is the man. Will be back again sometime soon Service
We came and had lunch and beers. Loved the touch of having the kids colouring in and crayons! Service was really good - not the best I ve had but 4/5 - but little touches like asking how the meal went etc was great. Had the hot chicken sandwiches - very yummy but soooo big! Couldn t eat it all. Loved the hazy beer. Pretty busy for a Monday lunch time!! Nice outlook onto the mountains.
Lovely Inn to stay the night. Quiet area and all the amenities one could want. Very fast internet both on the restaurant and the rooms. 63 download, 11 upload, 55 ms delay.
A good selection of beers on tap for a flight, and good food.
Went to the brewery for lunch. At least, we tried to. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, then were ignored by staff for 15 minutes as we sat waiting. I asked the manager if we could see a server, to which he replied indifferently We re working on it . Meanwhile, that same manager is standing around joking with his staff while customers wait. Do yourself a favour - avoid this place.
Wonderful 2-week stay at the inn recently. Had delish fish & chips and stout for a great price on Tuesday 11th July early evening before it got busy.
Stopped in for a late lunch. Had their brisket sandwich. Ive had brisket all over the United States and have never had brisket this good. I also highly recommend the onion rings and their hazy IPA was really good too. It is a casual restaurant with a big outside deck and large dining area inside. I cant wait to come back!
Menu was not complete- ordered the special they were sold out - it was 3:30p - ordered drinks and an app the drinks were delivered right away -we waited over an hour for the app and to order a late lunch - food was ok but nothing special - asked for delivery the bill and after waiting 45 minutes for it decided to try to pay in the lobby - the waiter was very prompt at following us out ( I guess it took that to get his attention ) I am a local resident and was embarrassed to take my visitor here - won t happen again - lesson learned
Can T stand this place. I ordered a burger, and they didn t even put cheese on it. And it was over cooked. Worst burger I ve ever had. Only good part was the food came out fast. Would not recommend
Had dinner here on a Thursday evening. I had the Prime Rib (brisket) sandwich which unfortunately was very bad. There was a lot of meat, but it was very dry & not very tasty. It was basically a bun with chunks of dry beef & almost no dressing or sauce. I had it with the side salad which was alright. Service wise, they were a bit slow to seat me. The waitress was OK, but it got busy so she could have used some help. Overall I d say you can do better elsewhere in Squamish.
We stayed here two nights, with our baby and dog, and the accommodation was average. Cant complain - sheets & towels were clean, hot water, secure, though the bed was not too cozy, the sound had carried from the brewery downstairs, there wasnt a kettle available, and the window arm was broken to properly open/close. Front desk staff were available, friendly & accommodating. The restaurant was disappointing. We dined on the dog friendly patio, and after 45 minutes of waiting, we learned what we ordered was not available and it would be delayed even more. Finally it arrived after 1h20minutes, and the staff at least gave a discount. We thought this was a one off...so we came back the night after and they had to close at 8pm because they ran out of food due to (as the hostess said) delivery mix-ups. It did not seem organized unfortunately.
One of the worst veggie burgers I ve ever had. Felt bad for staff. They seemed understaffed.
The hostess needs a rubber mat to stand on. Her poor back is killing her. I worked in the industry for years. It s sounds funny but it s true. Her back hurts. Get her a rubber mat.
It was ok
August 27th at 5p, the girl at the front door replied when we asked her if there any seats outside, she replied NO - and did not ask us If we want to wait at the bar or that she would go check. We left due to this.
We come to this place after we have been climbing and hiking and camping and its for a dirty greasy burger. The food is nothing special. Its just bar food . Great artwork on the walls isa bonus
I hate it when I can t give a five star. I try so hard to be ok with people and service and life. I breathe deep and work to get perspective on things and sometimes. Well, it still isn t a five. We came today for a late lunch. Google said they were way less busy than normal. We had to wait for 20 minutes for a table. Fine, whatever. No problem. The server was late to take our order. Ok. But the wait for the food was really long. Finally over half an hour (40 mins) after our order. Our food showed up. Ok. Again, stuff happens. The thing that really irked me was that the table that was seated a long time after us got there food within minutes of ours showing up. Well, the thing that really got me was that our server walked towards us and then turned away before we could ask about our late order. The burger was ok. Our guest youngster thought the cheese on the kids pizza tasted weird. The portion for a kid was insane. 11 inch The romaine lettuce was kinda sorta wilted. Overall, not thrilled. I think it is a place for locals who put up with the lousy service.
Love the brewery and restaurant worth a stop. Great beer and food!
We came for drinks and dinner. Did not stay in hotel. Food and drinks: This place has serious problems: our reservation was forgotten, then our drinks were forgotten, then amazingly one of our food items, a burger, was also forgotten. It took 2.5 hours to get two beers and dirty fries served to us. Worst dining experience I can recall since a Red Robin encounter 10 years ago. Pitiful.
Beer was so good we bought our kegs from here for our wedding!
Price was always high, but theyve pushed it higher. I liked going for Flatbread, but they have it on the menu as discontinued due to labour shortages. HSB used to be the only place that had an authentic hefeweisen, but they seem to have changed the recipe a couple years ago, and its pretty bland now. All in all, over priced, ok quality, and slow but friendly service. I think John Mitchell would be disappointed at his legacy
I didn t stay at the hotel, but the restaurant/brewery is wonderful. The beer is top-notch as is the customer service. Very friendly and welcoming- would recommend!!
My review is about the restaurant not the inn. If they had a separate review list Im sure the restaurant couldnt get mote than 3 star average. Waiters and waitresses were not interested in serving ppl properly. Every one of them asked us to distribute glasses, food, collect menus etc. For them and just stood and watched us do everything. Our food came after almost 45 minutes when we werent hungry anymore as we waited too much. Fish in fish and chips didnt taste fresh. The oil tasted bad in it. Burger was okay. We asked them to sit beside the window and they said we can only give the table to groups of 9 and then later on a group of 4 sat at the exact place when there were empty tables around. Im not sure if its a racist culture or lack of enough training for waiters and waitresses at this restaurant. The place wasnt generally very clean either especially all the windows. It was expensive given all this issues too. I do not recommend it.
Great place, nice simple clean room. Front desk managed to save us a room at a good price. Timing was perfect, a couple had to leave early and we moved in, thank you. Brew was very good,( nitro stout) mmmmm , bottle of water on table upon sitting, great service and atmosphere. Just had Brussel sprout appy, very good. Waitress was lovely and friendly. Cheese cake, sorry it was terrible. Rubbery and tasteless, dont order. Possibly we got an old one. Minor. Fix your cheese cake already! All good.
Myself and four friends went here after a night of camping. Ive been here in the past and thought it was great so I dont know whats happened over the months but yikes. I wont break it down into every scenario but everything was slow, very slow. Normally its forgivable for a Sunday when everyone is coming in for breakfast/brunch but the place didnt have much going on. After nursing our flat beer for 40 minutes, our food arrived which was ripe with a comedy of errors. I ordered a simple plate of onion rings. The server mishandled the food, and the crown-jewel onion ring (which was 1 out of the 8 on the plate) hit the floor. Instead of an offer to replace the food or some sort of discount for dropping my food. She glanced upon my disappointed face only to laugh and say, my bad. That pretty much topped off my experience. I left very dissatisfied and Ill be making a concerted effort to avoid this once-fine establishment. Good luck future patrons.
Yummy food
Food and drinks: Such a great feel at this Squamish landmark! Best happy hour in town & the nachos are legit. Service was excellent & the staff really seemed to be enjoying themselves while working hard. Service : 5/5
Perfect spot for a great locally brewed beer and delicious pizza. Service was outstanding, from our server Ilias to the manager Brad. Will definitely be coming back to try some of their other beers and the Oktoberfest food specials!
Great location with fantastic food and the finest craft beers around. If the impressive list of awards and accolades doesn t do it for you, I assure you the wonderful and attentive team will, with their thoughtful and attentive service. Special mention to Ilias for his knowledgeable recommendations, and to Kyley and Emily for the warm welcome! Can t wait to go back.
Great restaurant, very good beer, pleasant environment and the rooms were very nice and comfortable.
I am only reviewing the brewery, not the inn. I have been here for 46 minutes and just got my food. Took almost 20 minutes for a sever to speak to me. Thats a little silly. At least bring me water? I think its because im a solo female poc? Maybe? I dont know. I literally saw the server more times in the 10 mins since i got my food than any time before. They comped my drink which was nice of them. Another visit is warranted.
Great food and service, reasonable prices!
Great Pub in Dt Squamish! Sweet patio & lots TVs for watching sports. Good pizzas & tasty beers!
We have eaten here previously, it s almost a tradition to stop here for lunch or dinner to and from Whistler. It used to be very good - now IMO it s not. We walked in right at 11 when I it opened for Sunday Lunch and waited 45 minutes for food. My chicken sandwich was burnt and dry. For two sandwiches (my husband had a coke ) and 1 small beer the bill came to over $60. I gave two stars because the location is great. Other than that we probably won t be back.
Howe Sound Brewery seems to be exactly the kind of casual pub you d go to in Squamish don t! When we arrived, the hostess said sit anywhere. We took a high-top next to the bar. There were maybe six other people in the place. No one came to serve us. A couple came in, got beers, and even received their food. Still no one came to our table. One server walked right by us several times; another server chatted up a customer at the table next to ours. It sort of became a joke: how long before we were acknowledged? After 15 minutes or so we walked out. Again, there were maybe half a dozen people in the place and at least four people working the floor and bar. With service that abysmal, I m not sure I d trust the food. Note: we looked just like everybody else there. Nothing would have made us stand out except for the fact that perhaps we were invisible.

My family was heading to whistler and we stopped by this place for some beers and food. We were surprised how good the food and beer are. I will be bringing my family and friends here every time my family or friends are heading to whistler. Stuff was really amazing especially clasey. This will be our must stop now.
Really good beers, amazing food, Patio with the view of the chief... I just have to come back !!!!
Edit October 23: They need a staff overhaul, this place used to be so great and friendly but the past few times I ve been here i just ask my self why did i even bother. I decided to come here on my birthday because I had really great memories of it but the service here just made me really sad. Right away no one wants to acknowledge you when you re standing obediently by the sign that says please wait to be seated When someone did seat us they literally threw the menus on a table and walked away as fast as they could. Our server just really wasn t attentive at all. I m in the service industry and if I gave the same level of service as he did I would be lying awake at night with regret. No sense of urgency/time is not a concept to this guy. Takes his sweet time to come up and take your order or do anything for that matter. Their beers are great and the food Is as well, but unless the front of house starts to care about creating a warm and welcoming experience then we re wont be here Original: Oh man, where do I begin. So many favourites come out of this brewery. Hazy Dayz, Pumpkineater, Super Jupiter, King Heffy, they re all so good. Howe sound is the OG, and they ve got a great food menu too. Portions were insanely big, they ve got options for happy hour food and drink as well. You won t be disappointed!
We just stayed in a puppy friendly room. The carpet was disgusting. The service and food great! We ate on the patio. The waitress was excellent. Even brought dog treats and water for our dog. Hotel highlights
Thank you Kaitlyn for an excellent evening! Enjoyed the pumpkineater ale and the pizzas. Never been disappointed with our experience at Howe Sound Brewing. Cheers!
Exact words from my 3 year old these are the best french fries and apple juice ever!!! Lol Friendly staff, great food for the whole family and we loved the large selection of beers. Service
Hotel: The hotel was nice, with clean rooms, friendly staff. The only thing is we couldnt find the breakfast, not sure if it was closed or there was just nobody else there? Brewery: The beer was great, and the food was also great, but the customer service was absolutely amazing. I cant say enough good things about our server. She was fantastic, bubbly, friendly, and very attentive.
Had a not so good experience here but Brad reached out and completely turned things around went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied even brought the food right to my house for me. Great service and great food!
Great beer
The brisket sandwich was some of the best brisket Ive ever had. Yam fries were also a great choice.
Some kind of opening night party happening Live music guy is not bad Great food I had cheese beer soup good prices esp for happy hour Parking is easy outon hastings Fries were grade A which means i will be back Safety: Lots of staff with great attituudes Walkability: Where you walking from is a factor
New ownership so I was was concerned it deteriorated, but no!. The menu changed but it is even better food now. Beer was always good and king heffie is back now, but in a can instead of the big bottles. Well be regulars.
Cozy spot in heart of Squamish! Friendly servers. I had my friend s birthday and they made an effort make it wonderful Thanks Martin for your help! The atmosphere was nice with a few Tvs . Food and drinks were delish!
Okay beer, not awesome
I chose this location to host my dad s celebration of life and it was perfect we rented the Garibaldi room. Kyley answered all of our questions beforehand and had everything prepped for our arrival. It ran super smoothly thanks to her help and that of the staff. The food was great and everyone was comfortable and cozy.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff. 10 months ago we had a bad experience in this pub, (a nightmare). But this time my husband, my friends and I had a great time. we enjoyed every moment especially the food, the pork ribs was special, delicious and penne All´Arrabiata was the best. My husband loved the Margarita pizza, he was talking all the time on the sauce and how crust is the pizza. Highly recommend checking this spot out.
In regards to the Inn. I didn t get a chance to try the pub. Everything was pointing to a five star review. I thought it was a super cozy inn, and it had a great atmosphere. The price was great considering some of the other places around Squamish. But the mattress was terribly uncomfortable. I didn t get much sleep because of this. If they had better mattresses they d have a returning customer.
Mountain FM recently hosted a Holiday party at Howe Sound Inn and Brewing and everything was amazing! The pre planning was seamless and when we arrived for our party everything was set up to perfection exactly as we had requested. The staff were very attentive and the food was outstanding!! Thank you!
I had an excellent experience dining at the brewpub. Randy the bartender was fantastic and provided the best service I have ever received. I will be returning and hopefully Randy is on bar!
This looks like it should be the place to go in Squamish, it s got a lot going for it - size and layout. Waited to be seated at the door of a largely empty room with one busy barkeep serving, we approached the bar. Another barkeep appeared and brusquely told me we do table service here take a seat , we felt very unwelcome. I asked her if she knew much about English beer ( so I could see which one (of the many) to get, didn t engage with me - but to be fair did offer me a sample of beer that I asked about. Ordered food and a very pleasant barkeep -hence the three stars-delivered a salad (which was very nice and was tasty) and fish and chips - unfortunately the fish was barely warm in the middle. Another barkeep took away my plate -without asking - with an ( admittedly small) handful of chips on! I m here two weeks, will be eating out three times a day, every day and had hoped I d get a regular place to go and graze through the menu. I m disappointed to say I can t recommend and won t be going back.
Good tap selection and great food.
The mattress and pillow game needs some work sadly. Paper thin walls plus being above a brewery can make for a tough sleep too. Food and beer downstairs are okay though and everyone who works here was very nice
Fantastic place and ambience. A must go when you are in Squamish.
My partner and I stopped in for a beer and an appy each and were pretty disappointed when our deep fried pickles and jalapeño poppers arrived as we paid $12 for each yet there was less than two full pickles (there were 6 quarter pickles on the plate) and a similarly sad amount of jalapeños. Shame because it s a nice pub with good views but won t be back in a hurry.
We stopped in for a quick bite and drink as we always love the food. Sadly the service was pitiful. After three different servers coming over, we each ordered an appy, a drink, and a soup. They brought us the wrong soup and never got around to bringing my drink. Over the soup mix-up one of the servers came over and said The soup thing was my fault. Ha ha ha. Not exactly the apology I was hoping for. When I asked about my beer - they shrugged and brought it around about 10 minutes later. Again, no apology. I know serving isnt the most fun job - but these servers seemed... really uninterested in their jobs. Bummer. We probably wont be back which is a shame, cause we love the food. Vegetarian options: I ordered a vegetarian soup, they brought me one filled with chicken. Yuck. Dietary restrictions: Staff was laisser-faire about our restrictions.
Restaurant is under renos so went over to the huge pub side. This is a regular stop when returning from snagging some peak in the general area... nice selection of beer, and menu has a good variety of items to choose from. Had the November Beer and Burger special for $25 and it was fantastic... the beer was huge btw... must have been 20 oz which I did not expect and had to delay our departure a little and dump some coffee down my gullet before kicking off the drive back to Vancouver. Enjoy! Never had a bad experience here randomly visiting over the last 10 years.
Jet lag from London to Vancouver. Night staff quietly gets me a coffee and turns on the fire .Service? is about knowing what a Client wants before they know it themselves. Lovely staff at this place, from the restaurant to the front desk.
Carrot ginger soup and cheese bread was top drawer. Spicy ginger was great!!
This is a nice place to enjoy the big fireplace and a beer but I would not come here for food again. We ordered the jalapeño poppers which tasted like cardboard and the poutine which was hardly hot. We treated ourselves to dessert, hoping it would rectify but the chocolate mousse was so dense that it was like cake batter and the sticky toffee wasn t sticky and didn t have any toffee on it, just a warm cake with ice cream next to it. The service lacked as well, many staff on but not much attentiveness.
Still a great grub&beer stopover after nearly 30 years!
I like Howe Sound beer. Food is good too. Its just gotten old and the hall feel just does not resonate with me. Parking not bad out front but often tricky to find nearby. Stairs to enter and through the lobby to the pub, a bit odd, especially if you go for the first time. The beer is really good, its the furthest to get to from the highway but it is the standard for town and one of the originators of craft beer so worthy of your visit.
Great beer, great venue, However the service can be real slow. Bank on a 10 minute wait for a beer. If your visiting, check it out
My partner and I stayed here for two nights while passing through Squamish and we are so glad we did. The location, views and restaurant made our experience great! Staff was lovely. Stay here!!!
