What has happened. Shrink Flatiron to the next level. I have always loved Mary Brown's but was sadly disappointed with how my "bigMary" has turned into a snackwich. What gives?? It was one thing for prices to go up but to have them go up and size quality volume drop so much is just a shame.
I dont like putting reviews but who knows ..if it can somehow help to make improvements I need to try...guys...please take a bit of time to keep the food fresh...I know ur trying to save the company money but we injest this food and it is barely edibles if u let it sit for so damn long...I admit the chicken was dry a bit as well...but ur Tators were absolutly horrible...and I know they are normally much better...but u guys let it sit too long..please change this because we pay for this and its not fair we gotta eat old food...we bought for 4 people and none of us could finish even half...I know is normal to work more for the paycheck but keep in mind we our eating this so it be awsum if u could have some kind of standard were u dont let the food for sit so long ...anyways..overall...place is clean and service is as good as it can be...I just hope its better next time To add...u have responded...and I had taken the time to reply and its been over 2 weeks now and you had never responded...so this to me seems to be an attemp to show u care to the public but couldnt care less...ill never go back...wow
This is good for what it is but... If you are from Newfoundland, you will know that this is definitely not as good as it is back home. They definitely do not prep chicken the same in order for it to have the perfect juicy taste. They do not have pineapple crush or lime or Birch beer(which is almost necessary to have as an option with your Mary Browns). And it is getting expensive for what you get, as is most places.. So, not a bad review, but an honest personal view
This location is typically one of the better locations and the service is usually very good. Sometimes the food quality seems to be lower than what it was a few years ago and the prices have gone up. An example is the chicken tenders used to have lots of meat under the breading, but now it is common to have some of the pieces look big, only to find that it is mostly breading with a small amount of chicken. The taters are typically really good. Overall a good location and good food.
I used to go there like 2 years ago for the Apple pie which was delicious, they don’t carry it anymore, which sucks. We went today and ordered a 5 piece chicken tenders, 2 small mashed potatoes and that was it; surprisingly it was more than $22 dollars, and it’s not just that it’s very expensive, it’s awful! The mashed potato tasted like it was burnt, the tenders tasted like Kleenex, really disgusting. I don’t recommend this place and I won’t be back
Food is good, staff is good however the online ordering needs to be updated. It shows that curbside is available but it is not. Ordering online seems to be more complicated than it needs to be. Bottle deposit and return is not included when you choose a drink, you have to actually choose it in order to move to the next step. In regards to fast and easy ordering online, this definitely needs improvement.
Super disappointed. Love Mary browns and have gotten the same thing everytime I have gone. It’s been a long time since we have been here. We stopped in tonight to get two big Mary’s and two tater poutines. Ordering was fine, the manager was friendly. Ate the burger and it was great. Started on the poutine and there was a weird taste. I tried a tater alone and it was fine, gravy was fine but with the cheese tasted bad. Almost like there was mold in the bag. Started to feel sick to our stomach so obviously (being pregnant) I shouldn’t eat this. I went to the counter to see if they could either give me a refund or just some taters and gravy as the poutines were still pretty full. The “friendly” manager was no more and instead a rude one had come out. I explain it tasted bad and would simply like some taters and gravy to replace. She just starred at me with a disgusted look. She started saying I don’t know how they are supposed to taste and said the food is fresh and got suuuuuper defensive. I told her it just doesn’t taste good and would just like something else. She stomped to the back, started speaking to the other girl In the back then came out with taters and gravy. She practically tossed the bag on the counter (even though we were eating in) and just glared at me. I went to grab the bad and said thank you for fixing this and she crossed her arms and walked away. Ofcourse being an emotional pregnant lady, I felt crushed and cried on my way out. (Maybe a little much but I’m emotional, sue me) This was the first time I ate out in a while. This was my treat and it is ruined. I will eat Mary browns again but will NEVER return to this store. Disgusting way to treat customers and people.
There is no skin on this chicken. I paid extra for white meat, and it came almost bare. I asked for a new piece, as the whole point of fried chicken is the skin... they weren't all that impressed that I spoke up about the naked chicken, but she did get me a new piece... this is the new one. The breading isn't sticking to the meat because there is no skin. It also was exceptionally greasy inside because there was no skin to keep it from getting completely saturated. The taters were excellent.

Big problem this branch most of the time they close 9:30 there is a timing 10pm to close lots of time I rush to come for eat but they are close before 10pm

Google maps and the sign on the door say they close at 10PM. This business is entirely closed and dark at 9:30PM.
Last night we ordered from Mary Browns app and although it said delivered, we had no food or a refund. MB chose Skip to be the delivery service on their app. I contacted MB and was told once food leaves restaurant its not MBs responsibility and our money is with Skip (even though we got a receipt saying MB). Skip chat support said restaurant to is to refund. I called MB again with no actual resolution except that Skip will call which they didnt. Any decent restaurant would have issued a refund or did something as Skip is their choice. Poor customer service and not trustworthy. Such a stressful experience. (Edited, raised rating to 2 stars as I got my refund after contacting head office and then the local manager contacted me too to check.)

I don t usually post reviews but this one I feel like I have to. We are first and probably last time customers. We got 27 pice party bucket and in first chicken piece my wife took she found little piece of metal. Other than that food was good lol.
Had to wait 30 minutes for chicken, there were only 4 people in the restaurant. Food was mid at best, its inching towards KFC territory.
We were celebrating the life of my spouse and we all enjoyed ourselves.

The best Mary Browns. I come from Edmonton to eat here because the food and service is much better. Chicken is not dry, they are generous with the seasoning as well unlike some of the other locations I ve been to.

I showed up here at 9:30pm when they close at 10 and they were already closed. Hours posted on google say 10, hours on their sign out front say 10 as well but their open sign was turned off and they door was locked. I understand if it was 15 minutes to close but a whole half hour is still plenty of time. Don t advertise that you are open till 10 if you aren t going to be open till 10. I m very disappointed and I won t be going back.

Just tried Mary Browns for the first time. Couldnt believe how superior the chicken tasted compared to other fast food chains. Fresh, not frozen, makes a HUGE difference. I definitely wont get fast food chicken anywhere else but Mary Browns - tastes like homemade!!!

I arrived at 11 am August 27th. The doors were locked. I waited until 11:05 no indication of doors opening. I knocked on the door as it was raining and it was past opening time. Two staff ignored my knocking. Both staff looked up at me but did not come to the door. I knocked on the window at about 11:15. One staff looked at me but ignored me. I knocked again at about 11:20. One staff member came to the door and asked if he could help me? I asked if they were opening as it was way past opening hours. He said that the manager was not there and they could not open until the manager came. I asked when that would be? He said they are on their way but didnt know when they would get there. I asked if he had an idea of when and he said no. He would not allow me to place an order for food until the manager came and I could not even use the washroom while waiting. I said I could not wait if he didnt know when they would open. He said fine dont wait then. He had no apologies for not opening. He didnt care at all. Another customer also left that had been waiting. I often stopped at this location when I was going out of town. It will not happen again I will never visit this location again as they do not appear to appreciate my business I will visit other locations that do appreciate my business. They can not even trust their employees to take and start an order while waiting for a manager?? Very sad!!
Just ordered a medium taters with a side gravy. Enjoying the fresh taters when I pull a hair from my mouth...then from the tater, which the hair is cooked into the breading surrounding the tater. Blegh, wish I could get my money back but Im not local.
Staff was great however the original Mary Browns chicken burger I ordered wasnt. The meat was extremely stringy with lots of elastic nerve tissue. I could not eat it all, I took little bites from the edges and threw the rest in the garbage. Thats the first time Ive had a nasty chicken burger. Dont think I will be going back any time soon. Parking: Lots of accessible parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheel chair access.

Staff very friendly and fast, food always hot and fresh. Couldnt ask for more. Also, watched a very rude customer confront the cashier about a chicken tender being too small (it was, but he was incredibly rude about it) and the staff dealt with him very cordially.
First time vidit. Not just another chicken place. Food well prepared and extremely tasty. Parking: Easy to park close.
They need more workers around supper time. Called in to order and they said 15 minutes. Went 20 minutes later and the order wasnt even ready. Plus I told them regular chicken not spicy. They gave me spicy.

Was once my go to Mary Browns location. Then my family got food poisoning, dont worry we all survived. Fast forward a couple months, we decide to treat ourselves while kids are at the grandparents. Thought it was going to be a great evening, nope once again food poisoning. Food poisoning in a perfect world should never happen from a restaurant, but I understand that it does. What shouldnt ever happen is food poisoning on back to back orders.

Visited Mary Browns location in St Albert. We selected the coleslaw, hot chicken sandwich with fried pickles. The coleslaw was too creamy with very little acid in its flavor to balance it out. The fried pickles were average as there wasnt enough pickle to the coating, which was a disappointment. The star of the show, the spicy chicken sandwich was terrible. The chicken itself was deep fried to a point of being too crispy and the meat being dry. The spicy sauce was good and the bun was fluffy. The whole experience was disappointing and I will be skipping on this franchise in the future.

March 2020 Update The St Albert location continues to be a few steps above the average Mary Brown location. Service is fast and friendly. Chicken is always fresh and crispy. They will do well done/extra crispy if you ask. The new spicy chicken is excellent for flavor and heat but I email HQ to ask them to back off the salt a bit. Original 2015 post This is one of Mary Browns best locations. Not all are nearly this good. Chicken is ALWAYS hot crispy and moist. Service is friendly and fast. Has been great for the last 2 years since ownership changed.

As Im standing there waiting 2 orders that were larger than mine and placed after mine were filled and out the door. This is the second time this has happened to me. Im not at all impressed with the service at the St. Albert location.

As far as fried chicken goes, Mary Browns its pretty good. I usually go for the Spicy Big Mary sandwich though. I also really enjoy their potato wedges and gravy. Prices are fairly reasonable too

Something has changed. Chicken was so greasy the breading was soft and unbearably salty. Have eaten here many times and it has not been this bad before. 18 dollar 4 piece not worth it in any way.

Ordered off skip the dishes and it was horrible the chicken was old and dry. I asked for extra crispy wedges as well and they couldn t do that either. Usually good here but this time was horrible threw it all out.

Very disappointed in the fact there was no baby change table for us to use. We drove from Red Deer and stopped here thinking it would be suitable for our family but was beyond disappointed as i had to lay my baby on the floor to change his pamper. Food was good but they forgot my side of gravy which we waited 10 mins to get after reminding them and they forgot my husbands cheese on his poutine.

The once great Mary has fallen into a vat of grease apparently because what was once a juicy delicious chicken is no longer. Never again.
Ordered a family feast. Was told it would take 15 minutes. Got our chicken 30 minutes later and got home to realize they got our order wrong and gave us fries instead of taters. Worst service ever and Ill never go back.
