Browns Socialhouse in St. Albert

We were seated with menus and sat there for 15 minutes without anyone serving us or asking for drinks. The table next to us got served immediately after they sat down. We waited and went across to Brewhouse instead. Pretty disappointing.

I have become a regular at Browns. Why you ask. Great food and atmosphere but most of all is the service. Georgia and Thomas are the fantastic!

I had a fantastic time at Browns Socialhouse. I came here with my family, and they really enjoyed it as well. Our server, Kian, was absolutely amazing! Very attentive and kind. Definitely a great place, and we will be coming back again in the future! Also the sesame seed gyoza was so tasty! My parents ranked it 9/10, which is basically a 10!

Great food and atmosphere but took over an hour to receive our meals while other tables came and went. Not the servers fault but very disappointed.

Had a reservation for 6 pm and said that in the reservation, we had a movie to catch at 7:30 pm. The manager said no problem. ordered about 6:10pm, didnt get the food till 7:15pm. The server didnt let us know that they were short staffed until they brought us food. The manager didnt even say sorry.

Service here was horrible came from the brewhouse that gave us horrible Service and the Service here wasnt any better took forever for someone to talk to us then to get our drinks took longer than it should pretty brutal. I dont know if we will be back

Was a great place to have lunch with a friend. We sat outside on the patio, the food was tasty and filling. The staff were very friendly and keep checking in regularly. Great experience all around

I have always loved their crispy chicken tacos. A while ago they took it off of the menu but they were still able to make it. Then they added it back onto the menu and now it s off again, and they can t make it anymore. I m super disappointed.

Overall, Browns offers good food in a cool setting, but the service could be more attentive and efficient. With some improvements in service quality, it has the potential to elevate the overall dining experience to match its appealing atmosphere and tasty menu offerings

Our server Thomas went above and beyond he was so kind and knowledgeable of the food and so accommodating to my 7 month old. Will definitely be back!

My friends and I were there for lunch the other day and thought it was a very nice atmosphere. Our waiter was fantastic. However the meal was not satisfactory. Dont get me wrong I absolutely love salt however the blackened chicken and the Caesar salad were so salty it was inedible. I was so disappointed.

Its good to see that this place has more Gluten Free options. They would do well if they had a separate fryer. Making the menu more accessible. And grow their customer base. Their GF brownie is still the best Ive ever had.

Specific to the St. Albert location, and I should have written this sooner, but holy cow hands down my favourite place to go. Read on if you want a complete break down. Situation - we had a large event planned; a red carpet movie premiere. We needed a place to host an after party and the manager, Clay, and head chef, Brittani, took a genuine interest in helping the vision come to life. Food - 10/10. We did a variety of appetizers and they did not disappoint. For the amount that was made for the number of people we had, there was no shortage and what was suppose to be warm, was, while what was suppose to be cool and crisp, also was. Brittani is the head chef. She and her team went above and beyond. Atmosphere - we had the whole front patio. We were able to move some seating around in order to mingle with everyone and even though the group was large, the staff were diligent, meaning there was never a time where anyone felt like they were waiting to order anything. Professionalism - 10/10 . Every member of the BSH team were kind and respectful. An event that large can be a handful but they performed as though this was a regular occurrence! Above and Beyond - lastly, my daughter was my plus one and that night was also her birthday. The BSH team surprised her with a dessert and sang happy birthday. It was a very kind thing for them to do which just further shows how they value their guests. Even this past week when I went back, they remembered not just me, but also my name. (Everyone forgets my name regularly!) Its things like this that build genuine connections. If youve read through this whole review, then what are you waiting for? Polite staffs, don t have to wait to long for food

I brought my family to this restaurant in between my daughter s performances at a local Dance Festival and we could not have had a better experience! Our server, Thomas, was unbelievably attentive and personable, he made excellent recommendations that we took and we were not disappointed! Even with the restaurant as busy as it was, we did not wait long for our food. He kept our drinks topped up and was a genuine pleasure to chat with. We will certainly be back and hope to see Thomas again!

Too loud and we made a reservation for 6 on the patio but when we got there the patio was full and they sat us in a booth big enough for 4

Excellent and friendly service with great food and an open setting.

Had the cowboy salad. It was surprisingly delicious! I needed something light because I wasnt feeling the best. The waitress was delightful and professional. The server was being funny a lot but it was intrusive when he couldnt read the room. Still a wonderful time. Everyone was nice and the food was fresh hot (grilled chicken on my salad) and delicious.

Our server Thomas was amazing & professional! Will request for him next time! And also the food was amazing as per usual.

Wonderful since I was greeted by that girl at the reception who gave me the choice of my table, her attention before and after was wonderful, and the waitress I dont remember her name but she is blonde, super attentive, super friendly, she takes care of every aspect, attentive, wonderful, the truth is, thank you for Aser my spectacular stay.

We were forgotten about on our anniversary, we ended up having to send back goza starters as they were burnt, 10 min later, still no starter or mains, total time 40 min, Manager was to busy to talk with us. This was our go-to spot, usually we are in full business attire today we were not and felt like we were ignored.

Price good and amazing taste

Ive been here before and it was neverthis bad. This was the most disappointing dining experience Ive had in years. Servers were hanging around the computer socializing meanwhile we couldnt get service or drinks. The meal was not correct. Had the steak with frites, the steak was 2 inches x 2 inches Square did not seem like it was the right size. Very disappointing.

I have gone to this Browns a couple of times. Everytime has been a great experience. This has become my favorite Browns!

Honestly super annoying New Year s Eve. It s my first evening out after having a baby a few weeks ago. Our waitress seemed great at first, super friendly. But then she took our food order and disappeared for 30 minutes. Then another waitress brought out only my boyfriend s food lol. Completely messed my order up and didn t bring our appy. She kept blaming the kitchen but I know how tickets work with table numbers and such. Hopefully the manager helps her next time.

10 minutes waiting in line, 10th person in line. The line wasnt moving, no one even acknowledged anyone in line. A few tables were empty, but staff seemed to not care about seating new customers. We ended up leaving. Pretty disappointing. Staff needs to follow basic restaurant service protocol.

I recently visited this busy restaurant and was blown away by the service and the food. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, making sure our experience was top-notch from start to finish. The food was also excellent, with a wide variety of options to choose from and all dishes cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good service and delicious food. Keep up the great work!

My last visit was great, was there for a quick glass wine and an appetizer our waitress was fantastic nothing to complain about.

I got the butter chicken curry substitute masala tofu & cauliflower and GOD DAMN. Absolute heaven. I was shocked by how delicious it was, definitely one of my favourite meals, i ll be back just for that lol. I m happy that there are good vegetarian options, and good gluten free ones too. For service, our server was very nice and polite but service was a little bit slow (for drink refills and such) but that s not her fault as i think there should be more staff for a busy Friday night! Also it s quite pricy but the food is good quality and the portions are fair. :)

Have been to this location mulitple times with no issue...except this past Saturday.. had booked a reso for my dads 65th bday. Started out fine-until the food started to come out...initially we received half of the orders (no problem) but when the rest came...3 of the 7 peoples food was cold and a crispy chicken sandwich had just 1 old piece of chicken & burnt/crusty bacon... again, no problem-we sent it back for a re-do the re-do took over 25mins...1 person never got their food they sent back at all...the sandwhich was like a 180 (had good chicken,bacon plus the lettuce, tomato,cheese, sauce...everything that was initially missing) we chatted with our server about our disappointments, and recognize it was not her fault...she has advised she had 1 table walk out due to the kitchen issues...and we also heard another server talking to the kitchen staff about messing up orders/mistakes, etc... what bothered me the most was how the manager did not step up to support their serving staff & actually lead...our server voiced her upset and felt very unsupported by her manager...who seemed quite timid and avoidant...he never did speak to us at all with our concerns... I will come back-possibly it was new kitchen staff, etc..but as the manager.. step it up, own the issues at hand & support the staff who are trying their best but taking the brunt of the customers complaints

My absolute favorite place to eat! Food is always good and I love the menu and the atmosphere. I ve never been disappointed.

We ordered skip the dishes from here. A blackened chicken Caesar salad. The chicken didn t arrive. We called the restaurant to get the chicken. They said unfortunately that s how it is, if you come in we can give you $4 off um? So i paid $22 for some lettuce and dressing? Disappointing and won t be back.

Such a great atmosphere. Had steak and it was delicious. Couldn t decide what to eat, all looks so good. Can t wait to go back to try more meals.

The ramen was so good my soul ascended out of my body into heaven and I thought this isn t as good as that ramen so I clawed my was out of heaven to finish my food

Waited ten minutes + and recieved no service on a Thursday at 5pm. Me and my wife walked out.

The reason you come here is for the atmosphere. The interior and patio are both very nice. The food is okay but leaves something to be desired. The service could also be improved a little bit. Good place to meet and socialize, like their name suggests. I would stick to smaller plates here.

Very small portions for the cost; $25 for a tiny rice bowl that has barely any rice in it. Understaffed and poor service - dirty plates left on the table for the entire meal, drinks never re filled, orders entered with mistakes, threw out our leftovers without wrapping them up as requested. Disappointing overall.

Inedible! Gross! I got lettuce wraps to go. There was no sauce on anything. Dry burnt chicken. Burnt vegetables. All dry no sauce. I couldn t eat it. I threw it out. I wouldn t waste my money go elsewhere.

Went for a sit down dinner with my teenage kids, and we all really enjoyed it. Food and drinks were delicious and fast.

It has been awhile since we ate at Brown s. It was the worst food we have had there. It was very disappointing.

Came in through a very heavy door, and when we tried to use the handicap button, it didnt work. It didnt work for the second door either. So, 2 of the 3 doors to enter the building did not work properly for those requiring the use of the automatic open buttons. The service was good, waitress was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. However, our menus were sticky and visibly dirty. There were soda marks all over my menu. The food was bland and flavorless. My partner got a burger. He said he could taste all of the toppings, but that the meat had no flavor. I got nachos. They were okay. The guacamole and salsa had very mild flavor, mostly just tasted cilantro in the salsa. We will not be returning.

Few days back decided to stop in for a burger because in past,other Browns had a decent burger. Well this Browns has now taken all Browns off my list of places to eat. Began with 2 of the 3 power assist doors being broken entering the building (had knee surgery 2 days prior so would be nice if they worked). The menus were still dirty and sticky from previous use. The burger...well I could taste the lettuce and tomatoes but zero flavor from the burger. McDonalds for $6.99 is a way way better burger, not the $20 dollar flavorless item served here. The Small nachos plate for the price was an absolute rip-off and had little flavor. Only positive was the wait staff who were friendly. Will absolutely not be returning.

Beautiful glam and boogie aesthetic. The smoothie was a steep $12 but very delicious and healthy.

We come here a lot to celebrate different things and came tonight and not only was the service atrocious, the manager on tonight was extremely disrespectful and after first agreeing with us, instead chose to give a snide comment while walking away when we expressed it was unusual for the service to be so bad. It was unprofessional and we will not be returning to this location again.

Extremely long wait and terrible customer service

We arrived here with our neighbours just before 6:00 pm. We were greeted cordially and seated quickly. Our server came within five minutes and took our drink orders. She came back in five minutes with two of the four drink orders. My drink was missing a lime but no big deal. We continued to sit there for about 30 minutes and nothing happened, no drinks and no taking our food orders. I went inside (we were seated in the patio area) and told our server that we were leaving and asked for the bill to pay for the two drinks. She apologized and mumbled something about how busy she was. Once she realized we were not staying she told me not to worry about the drinks. We have been there quite a few times before, mostly for lunch, and it has always been great. This time it wasnt and it put a damper on a fun evening with friends. As side note: when I was in business and a customer took the time to provide a Google review I responded to every comment regardless. I see the owner/manager is hit and miss with responding to reviews. I would postulate he/she is not very engaged in their business, perhaps the cause for tonights disappointment.

Amazing experience, as per usual. The bartender Kian is an experience in himself. The manager washelpful and lovely. Mika was a great help, and I had the butcher block which was incredible. Always a pleasure to see Jade as well

Food was good and the waitress Myryam was phenomenal and very pleasant to talk to. No room inside with air conditioning so on the hot balcony. Also no evacuation break given so if that is a factor this summer keep that in mind. Parking: Lots of options

The portion size is consistently small. That doesnt take away from the fact that the bowls are delicious but less than half a bowl of food for 26 dollars is impossible to justify. Tried the same Tofu bowl in other locations and its 3/4th full.

Some of the best service Ive gotten. Meeca and Kian are some of the best bartenders Ive had the pleasure of being served by, highly recommend.

Update about a month later: I wish I could change my review to ZERO STARS. The owner was quick to post an apology for the terrible experience and asked that I send details about it by email. I replied with a very detailed account of what happened and I NEVER HEARD BACK! Bottom line is, they dont want bad reviews but dont actually want to resolve anything because they simply dont care. I hate it when owners do this. They want to mitigate the bad review by taking it offline to resolve the issue but dont actually want to bother. DONT GO HERE. There are plenty of great places that will give you good food and good service. Original Review: Very bad service. Had the sirloin. The scalloped potatoes were burnt and cold. The butter that they put on the steak was rock hard and my veggies were over cooked. Server didnt seem interested in us at all. She never brought me a refill and basically ignored our table. When she saw that I had not touched my potatoes and that I had flipped them over and they were black, she looked at them for a while and then took the plate away without any comment. I didnt see a point in complaining as between the poor food and horrible service, I will not be going back.

Me and my friend came here earlier to celebrate my new job and we were left disappointed and shocked at the service given weve never experienced such poor service before at this location. To begin, our host didnt really seem to care about his job, the genre of attitude of Id rather be somewhere else which is unfortunate given this establishment isnt a Boston Pizza, once seated we were left for about 20 minutes and were given cutlery before water (host didnt bother to offer water, dropped off the cutlery and left) Afterwards, our server came by and was friendly enough, however she did not go above and beyond what was needed and honestly underperformed. Despite our food taking over an hour per course, she wouldnt be bothered to apologize for the wait, nor offer anything to compensate. The manager came with our starters and was kind, seemingly stressed out and apologized for the delays, we ordered the gyoza and parm fries which were tasty. Then, our main dishes (not complicated at all) took over an hour AS WELL and were cold to the touch. I ordered a fettuccine alfredo and my chicken was fabulously cold, as well as my noodles. My friend ordered the thai chicken starter and was underwhelmed as it was also cold. Generally this was a miserable experience for the both of us.

Basic bar experience - exceptional staff, pricey drinks, great atmosphere. Nothing to scoff at, but nothing special as far as a grillhouse is concerned.

Good food but there were 10 of us so they clearly stated that we had to pay 18% tip for a large group. Also br the front door there is a wheelchair ramp but its very dark so my wife hurt her knee leaving the place. They need a light by the floor.

Best nachos in town!

Met an acquaintance yesterday afternoon for drinks at this location in St.Albert, venue had a decent crowd, drinks were timely, shareable ordered was a bit cold but tasty nevertheless, service was okay, could have done without the server throwing the coasters at us as though he was dealing cards at a blackjack table.

We had lunch on the patio on this beautiful Oct day. Unfortunately it was hard to enjoy due to the heat being trapped because of their clear vinyl rollers being mostly closed. We watched many couples move because of the same reason. It s was like siting in a green house. It s a shame to have to move inside or sweat it out when they have such a nice patio. Not sure why they don t open all the rollers more than 1/4 to help with air circulation. Unfortunately this has been the case more than once so it looks like we ll have to find another patio to enjoy. Too bad since it is perfect patio weather.

I cannot give 0 stars and that is a shame. My wife and I arrived at 5:40 and got seated right away. It was a little busy but not packed and no wait. Server came right away and asked for our drinks. Drinks arrived 5 minutes later and we ordered our food so it is 5:50ish. Server came at 6:50 and said sorry it is taking so long we are busy today but it shouldnt be much longer. Well at 7:20 we decided enough is enough and I found the server and told her we were done and leaving. I offered to pay for our drinks but the server said dont worry about it and said sorry. I asked to speak to the manager and he was like oh well, we are busy..not much we can do. We have been here several times but I can say we will never go back. The mangers attitude turned me off. Not the servers fault but boy the service was horrible. At least come and talk to your quests, dont just leave them hanging. There were people that came in after us and ate and then left. When someone has been sitting there for 1 1/2hrs they should become priority. You have to love how when you get a good review how quickly you answer but when it is a bad review no response in 6 + months.

I actually came here to visit a friend and the service was phenomenal. Sidney was very quick, polite, and the order was perfect. I don t typically order fish out unless it s a seafood restaurant; but they killed the Cod. Fast, hot, and tasty! The assistant Henna was very polite and checked on the service to boot. Thank you !

I travel extensively for work, 200+ nights a year. On long days I need a real meal not pizza. Today was one of those days. I like Browns because of their consistency. Today I entered at the tail end of sinner rush and sat at the bar. I am generally low maintenance customer. I do not know now if staff were tired from rush or getting back into the swing of things with re opening but everything was a little bit off. From the longtime to tale my order, to the well under cooked Ramen to even the time I had to wait for my bill. Everything was off. Still a quality restaurant on a busy night. Will eat there again but, there will always be a but. 1 mediocre service does not constitute burning it down but there was some obvious coaching opportunities

Service was good, but the stake with fries was the worst stake I have ever order. The stake didnt have any taste and even after they tried to add extra souce, it didnt make any difference.

I literally came in here for a couple of drinks and stood at the hosts area waiting to get seated and was treated like I didnt even exist and eventually just left without being even acknowledged at all by anyone . Most odd / inappropriate experience. Wouldnt recommend to anyone looking for decent service if this is how you are treated just walking in .

Overall the food was decent, service was good, but portions for the cost was horrendously bad. I ordered the Curry Butter chicken with extra chicken, 6 buck charge, and the amount of chicken was laughable. The dish ended up being around 30 bucks before tax and tip but based on that experience i would actually have a tough time recommending this place or going back

Hands down the worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant watched my family eat while the waitress forgot to bring the food they overcooked back out after remaking it so then my 8 months pregnant wife and my family left me to eat alone one my anniversary then the manager gets rude with me and says all I want is free food I was more then willing to pay he I was treated with respect

Lol, went there once before was pretty meh, thought chain place, meh experiences come and go . Go there for second time, service was terrible/non existent. Inform manager, to which he says well that s not MY fault haha alright dude, nice dress shirt.

Food was really good. yes we did wait a little bit for our meals but given how busy they were on Fathers Day, it was completely fine. Our server was AMAZING

Started off great with Socialhouse drink creations. 40 minutes after ordering apps they finally arrived. Three were great and one was cold. They replaced it and it was at least now warm....not hot. What was disappointing was that they clearly forgot our order as others that came after us received main entrees, they made no attempt to offer is anything and we were charging full price. Customer service makes you come back...or not. Update....The manager made good on the promise to address our concerns. We returned and were treated extremely well and the food met up to the standards that we appreciate from Browns....Thank you!

Been to this location a quite a few times. Tonight everything we wanted they were out of. The service could have been way better. All 3 steak dinners were cold and had clearly been sitting out for well over an hr. The one meal was still cold like it had been taken out of the fridge. One of the absolute worst experiences Ive had at this location. Even the kids meal was cold and rice was hard. The manager didnt really care, just said he was going to talk to the cook about the mix up. It took 2.5 hrs to get everything we tried to order and by the time the entrees came they were closed. After the entrees came one of our appetizers came out and the rice on the rolls were cold like it had been sitting out.... being an appetizers it should have come with the rest before the entrees. Not impressed and not impressed how ot was handled by the manager.

Amazing food and the best service ever given by Jade!! The dragon bowl is to die for! Nachos are also great!

Food was just okay, average flavor, rice from the bowl and sushi roll was crunchy/chewy but the portion sizes are a complete rip off. $16 for a dynamite roll that is the same size as a California roll from Save-On-Foods. $23 for a little dragon bowl and $18 for about one cup worth of calamari. Complete disconnect between price and value!

They have to change the chairs for more comfortable ones

I love this location and am obsessed with one of their salads. I ve been feeling sick lately with all the colds going around and thought I d get a friend to pick up their salad for me the other day. Browns unfortunately forgot the dressing, which is an easy mistake to make, but it made my $25 salad useless. Would always recommend them but just a reminder to make sure you re checking your to-go orders before handoff.

Lively atmosphere on a Saturday night. Great Gyoza (as always/fave) and Pub Burger. Server was friendly and came by often to check on us. Browns is always sure to please with an extensive menu and helpful staff! :)

Terrible service .. cold water for my tea, and when I asked for a new pot of hot water she came back with no tea bag..the first teabag went into the cold pot of water. The server brought our food and she didn t come back at all to see if everything was okay, or we needed anything.. we needed napkins. The salad was good but the beef dip was stringy .. we couldn t flag our waitress down after multiple attempts to get our bill, and we resorted to asking a girl inside the bar area for our bill, that didn t go over well, she was not impressed , which added to the terrible experience., in the hour that we were there the girl in the bar never moved and I assumed she might be able to grab our bill .. they weren t busy either, there were only a few customers. we won t be back.

Nice place for a good time. Prices are on the higher end.
