Original Joe's in St. Albert

Amazing food and great service!! I ve been to this location on a few occasions and have had amazing service every time. Maya and Lucy were great servers. We felt extremely welcomed with the warm hospitality that they gave us. I have a gluten and a dairy allergy, and they gave me excellent recommendations. They made sure my meals were made correctly which I really appreciated. I love that they have gluten free buns or that you can have a lettuce wrap. I would recommend this location to all my friends and family. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free options

We just ordered from door dash. Our meals were fine but paid $70 for the wing platter and the wings are terrible. So dry and well done. Barely any sauce on them and hard to chew, they are so overcooked. Super disappointed.

Somehow this is the only nearby Original Joes that does not offer a dog friendly patio.

Great food and really nice staff but they have the music blared and its an awful stuff on repeat. I asked the staff to change it or turn it down and they admitted they dislike it too but they arent allowed to change it. Really ruins the vibe. Shame.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. The kitchen manager Victor is extremely mentally unstable and abusive towards staff members. Him and his companions swear at staff and lie about problems. This is called manipulation greed. They treat staff members unfairly and do not let them take even minute breaks. If you support Original Joes youre supporting broken labor laws. I want to see justice done. I want to see Victor removed from employment. CRA should audit his career. Hes a criminal and ill be sure to be contacting head office and the BBB to investigate this POS

The service was amazing & drink orders were quick. I was happy to see gluten free options as I am celiac. I ordered the chips & wings & was told they dont have a dedicated fryer. This makes them not gluten free due to cross contamination. Im glad my server told me this but what an absolute disappointment. I ordered a salad instead. Would honestly not go back because of this reason alone because I want to be able to have options and not take the chance that I will get sick. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options listed on the menu but they are put in the same deep fryer as everything else which causes cross contamination so not truly gluten free. Ok if you are just making the choice to eat gluten free but for a celiac it can make you sick

I don t go here much anymore as I thought the portion sizes were shrinking at same and escalating $$$. The actual weight of the one pound of wings adjust for container and veggies is 10-7/8 of a pound which is 2/3 of 16 ounces, the servers automatically state that is B4 cooking- however even if I accept this the amount of sauce added back should nearly offset this. Earls tried this then had to change their menu due to my review. I did my own experiment and over 10+ trials it is consistent see photos and captions

We have been ordering online for long time, but over time we noticed that the quantity of food decreases, salad was half full, and there was only one tomato soup cup instead of usual two. Very disappointing

Terrible service the guy serving us was to busy talking to two girls at the bar, never asked if we wanted anything to drink, keep in mind there was only one other group in there so it wasn t busy at all, waited 25minutes with no service, he seemed very bothered that we interrupted his flirting session, ended up leaving cause he never came back or acknowledged us, ended up ordering on skip so we could get some food

Got food poisoning!!! Either from the Cheddar Cajun chicken burger, or the side salad I had with it. I called the restaurant a few days later to report it, and left a message with the young lady who answered the phone, but the manager didn t feel it was important enough to call me back about it. I am making sure that everyone I know doesn t go to St. Albert Original Joe s!!

Great experience all around except for the wings... I dont even think or lord and savior could forgive a wing of that much sin. However, what they lack in the wing department they make up for in PBRs and the exceptional service from the absolute specimen of a bar tender Kyle.

The manager or owner of this establishment needs to get the white range rover parked in a actual stall not just in the road, almost hit the suv, gonna call tow company if its back next time Im trying to get food from your establishment

The food was really good! We had nachos and the bruschetta. Delicious! The server was named Breanna and she was super polite and very helpful! Really enjoyed our time here! We will be back for sure!

We dined here tonight because we had a gift card for $50. When we went to pay the bill, we were informed that they were not able to accept gift cards, and this had been an ongoing issue all day. They did not let us know this at any point, even though they knew all day, until we were paying. We asked if we could pay our full bill, and then come back with our bill and get reimbursed for the gift card amount when the system was back up and working. We were told no, and not offered any discount or solution to the fact that we would now be out $50 that we were not planning to spend out of pocket. We were hoping this establishment would run their business in a more honest way. Would not recommend- and if you do go here with a gift card, ask before you order if they will accept your gift card.

Delivery, dont waste your time, they dont use skip drivers so you cannot track your delivery, every time is super late and food cold and the receptionist says its almost there, and its not Dont order food here for delivery, has happened multiple times This second half is an update from 2 weeks ago or from whenever I did that original order. I accidentally ordered it by mistake because the skip the dishes app picked it up, I called immediately to cancel knowing what the experience would be and they said that they would cancel it and guess what? I never got my $31 back, no surprise. I have no idea what dining is like, but I definitely would not use their skip the dishes version, they charge way more for the delivery take much longer, and the food is cold, definitely skip this restaurant for skip the dishes and take out, and you have no way to track your order. I have no idea what dining in is like, but the delivery service is simply horrendous.

Large portions of good food. I had the lettuce wraps which were surprisingly filling. We went for lunch on a Sunday and did not have trouble getting a table.

The food we had was definitely less than average. We stopped in to meet friends and ordered appy s to share. The nachos were pathetic, hard to believe these would leave the kitchen and the server would put them on our table. A few soggy chips with some cheese that sat below a warmer for a period of time, horrible at best, not to mention $22 would be a big fail at $5. The wings were a little better, but show little value for the $17 price tag. The other dishes and cocktails were okay, a little underwhelming and pricey as well. This chain really needs to do a better job if they want to keep customers coming back. Lots of other options out there.

We stopped by for an early dinner. Sat outside on the patio. The new bench running around the parameter is comfortable. Food and service were good. It is what we have to expect at this location.

Excellent service and accommodated my dietary issues with no problem and a smile! Update from Sept 11/23. We went for dinner for our anniversary. My husbands steak was too tough to eat and my dry ribs, though tasty, seemed to be much less meaty and more bone. It was very disappointing for our Anniversary Dietary restrictions: Very happily accommodated my dietary restrictions.

French soup it was like everything mixed up together and clued by cheese. Tacos with fish ok but a little bit cold.

The drinks were good. Service was a bit slow. The servers spent more time behind the bar chit-chatting as we watched our drinks and apples just sit there. Overall it was decent, but definitely left a little disappointed.

I always enjoy coming here, its close to home so always nice to walk there when the weather is nice... the food has gotten a little more pricey but its usually a good quality meal... the the service is usually really good too.

We had a bit of a mix-up with a 3rd party delivery service and this store fixed everything up right. Excellent customer service and friendly staff. We ve dined here many times before as well and always had amazing service.

Sat at the bar for supper with a friend. Bartender was super nice and her service was great. I had the West chop salad and it was excellent. Add prawns. Yum!

I took my daughters for their first legal drink on their 18th birthday. The service was good but the bar was hot and muggy and they were out of the lime flavouring for the drink my daughter wanted. Both not a big deal but it was not comfortable due to the poor air conditioning so I would not go back.

Excellent Salad and service!!

We popped in for dinner and ordered a starter, a grilled cheese burger (no lettuce, tomato, or sauce) and lettuce wraps. Our waitress promptly met us at our table and kept our drinks full throughout the night with a smile. Our food arrived and we noticed the burger had lettuce, tomato, pickles (which were not on the menu) and sauce. We caught the error right away and the waitress immediately went to fix the concern. The burger came back with no veggies but still covered in sauce and now on a hamburger bun. Third times a charm we guess as we finally got the correct burger the third time it came out of the kitchen (though it did smell like pickles). Upon receipt of the bill we noticed we were being charged full price for an order that had to be made three times. Not even 10% off for the mix up and the burger wasnt even warm when we got it.

Waitress was great. Menu is a bit tough for me since Im allergic to vinegar(this includes dressings,mayo,balsamic reductions, most commercial sour creams and commercial Hummus. Still managed to find something enjoyable. If there were less vinegar bits would give them the extra star

Should have studied the menu online before arriving. When Kayla, our server, approached and asked what can I get for you we hadnt seen a drink or food menu yet. Asked for an Endeavor Pilsner, got an IPA. We ordered fish and chips and the fish tacos (both were delicious) and didnt understand that they came with 2 sides but were not sure what the choices were. I got 2 Coleslaws (?) wife got fries. Heard the other server telling her guests about the specials of the day. Puzzled, read the menu online and found there were a number of options for side dishes. If we ever go there again we will be better prepared.

My family and I are all vegetarians. We ve gone here a few times before with no issues. Today I ordered the butter chicken and asked that instead of real chicken if I could have it switched to vegan chicken (was never told that the vegan chicken was extra) when we received the bill we saw that I was charged $6 extra to replace with vegan chicken? Never once have I been charged extra for a plant based option . We will not be coming back to this restaurant or supporting anymore . I don t care if someone doesn t understand our diet choices but it s ridiculous to charge someone who is unable to eat meat extra so they can eat something they would like .

Really like the food here but can only order takeout as this location is not kid friendly.

Not sure if they were short staffed or something the night we went, but not all the tables were full and yet we were not attended to well. Tried to order a happy hour drink on the menu in front of us to be told that they took that drink off the happy hour menu... Had to argue a bit for them to honour the price. The service was really slow, and by the time our food came the jalapeno mac and cheese was cold. There was no cutlery or napkins on our table, so upon asking our server for cutlery they dumped a pile on the end of the table for the guests to disperse themselves. All in all, not a pleasant experience. We have been before a few years ago and the service and food was much better then.

The beer on special was tasty. Burger was large.

I appreciate the vegetarian options! Their gravy is vegetarian, and on a lot of their main dishes you can substitute a veggie protein. Their dragon boat lettuce wraps are so good. Vegetarian options: They will sub proteins in a lot of dishes to be vegetarian. They have veggie chickn and impossible burger. Gravy is vegetarian.

Take out was extremely slow taking an extra 20 minutes after arriving at designated time of 25 minutes after ordering. Was comp d a drink at the bar which was nice. Got home with food and my wife s $20 chicken tenders consisted of 3 puny overcooked strips barely equating to one Costco chicken tender (where we originally thought about picking up from regrets) the coleslaw was unmixed (had onions in it and was very bland) My ghost pepper chicken burger didn t disappoint but definitely wasn t ghost pepper level of spiciness by any means, maybe 6 out of 10. We ordered a slice of the red velvet cake as the online picture looked great but what we got was what seemed liked a child size portion of dry cake for the steal of a price of about $10 (9.45$ if you want specifics). Not even the thickness of a small plastic fork prong. Overall, pretty disappointing showing for this restaurant tonight on the easiest of the meals. Generally this hasn t been our experience here when dining in but we ll probably avoid taking out again. Only they cake is pictured as it was the the final straw to actually come Google review it.

Compared to other restaurants, its more quiet and not normally as busy (unless hockey night) waiters/waitresses have always been super friendly. Would recommend they use a note pad/ their iPad to take orders however instead of coming back multiple times to confirm the order or overall bringing the wrong dish. None the less will definitely come back again

OJ s St Albert has been a staple part of our restaurant rotation for the last few years and we have always been satisfied with the service and food quality. Our visit last night broke that streak The wings were slightly under done, the French onion soup was shy on croutons and cheese (I sent this one back) and the lettuce wraps were an extra saucy mess. Our server was a pro and her service was excellent but a lack of care and attention in the kitchen was cause for a Friday night let down. I m still giving a rating of 4 stars as every visit before this as been very satisfying hopefully last night was just a blip on the food quality radar.

I have been soooo waiting to go out again (covid) and have a steak with a glass of wine. Perfecto!

I went for dinner here on a Friday. Despite how busy it was the service was fast enough. I would classify the food as North American comfort - amazing fries, onion rings, pouting, and burgers. Their fish tacos were pretty good as well. Everything was hot and extremely delicious. menu is smaller than other restaurants, but everything is done well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Gluten sensitive menu and lots of options for vegan as well. Great atmosphere even with the dividers up between tables it feels cozy not sterile.

I have had many many meals from Original Joes and have never had an issue. Until today. The fish was so soggy and greasy, where as normally it is crisp and really tasty. The french fries in both our meals were undercooked and soggy. in one of the meals I literally got 15 fries as my side. Counted them. Really hopeful that this was a one time incident. Delivery took 17 minutes from the time I received text that it was on its way. We are literally 2 minutes away.

I went here for wings...but heres the twist: It was on a tuesday! Now, I went with several friends, but theyll remain anonymous. We each had a different flavour of wing. Mine had a sweet chili sauce on them. I give it 5/5 (if you know what I mean). Now heres the real kicker about OJs...scattered throughout the restaurant, are tastefully selected art pieces which highlight the history and beauty of our great city, St.Albert.

I always liked original Joes but was always noisy, but with the covid 19 restrictions it was pleasantly quite. I would give more stars but the new menu is miss leading in small text it is extra for added sides. That leads you to think it is included. Besides that it was good.

Great service after they finally sorted out why they gave away our table, isnt it usually a 15 minute window to get there for your reserved table! The girl we talked to about it said straight up she gave it away and just walked away from us! The food was okay, had to send a burger back for the hamburger patties being not even half a centimeter thin, still came out the same way for the price of 18 dollar burger I preferre not to eat paper thing meat

My parents got a meal from Original Joes St. Albert location on July 14, 2020. It was for my Moms birthday dinner, however the meal was completely soggy and wet. My Moms chicken burger was soggy, the bun was sopping wet and the fries were also soggy and cold. When we contacted them about the poor quality of the food and the fact they never provided a receipt(which also seems like poor quality of service). They took no responsibility and offered no solution to make up for this. They said it was the packaging and that they had no intention on improving this very poor experience that took place. We will never waste our money or time with this location again.

A fun easy going place to meet up with friends at! Especially ones you havent seen for a long time. Casual dress; no expectations. Good service and a menu that makes it easy to decide on a meal. Simple and snappy decor that isnt pretending to be something that it isnt.

Ordered through skip the dishes.... absolutely terrible...order arrived missing items...asked for no horseradish on sandwich...was loaded with it wife couldnt eat her meal and was missing the ceasar salad. My mac and cheese was an absolutely tiny portion for 14bucks...and was all over the delivery bag. Tiny portion of onion rings.. just overall a terrible meal , we will not be ordering again.

Both my friend and I ordered the turkey wrap. I had a side of fresh veggies and fries. The avocado on the wrap was brown, the bacon was cold and covered in congealed fat, the lettuce was old and nasty, the turkey was not fresh, the side of veggies were yellowed and browned and water logged. I managed to eat a quarter of my wrap before I sent it back. I am also pregnant, today I feel awful,and I have been feeling great before this meal. My friend also feels very sick and he choked down his whole wrap. I will not be eating here again. Neither will he. The server was wonderful, we tipped her 20%. The food was unacceptable.

My boyfriend and I had came here last Saturday, looking to have a good time since he was in town from work. Had every intention of having more then a couple drinks, some good food and chill. Well, we got our first drinks and a few appies....we were going to order more food after, but our server never came around again. My boyfriend had to go to the bar to order another drink.....where the bartender ignored him, didnt even look at him. Our server eventually came out from the back and saw him standing there...he ordered a few more drinks. We decided to not spend anymore money somewhere where we werent getting decent service. I asked for a box for the rest of the food. Got our bill, no box. Ended up just leaving the rest of our food because I didnt want to search for our server

This used to be a great place to go for a meal, but lately the service has been getting worse. Wrong product arriving on your orders- order salad - receive fries... to correct bring the correct out on 2 side plates ... why not put on a new dinner plate... does not seem hard to correct . Last 2 times have ordered a beer with supper and the beer is flat.. no carbonation and tastes like flavored water.. Hopefully OJs gets back on track, we used to be regulars with restuarant, but have decided we are done going to have a meal with Original Joes. If you do go ... make sure to share your experience so the chain can have feedback to make the corrections and return to the great restaurant chain they once were.
