Riverbank Bistro in St. Albert

Very good food and service

We made Reservation earlier in the Day for 4 adults on a Saturday evening. Once we arrived we were seated on the Lounge side of the Restaurant. Our waitress was friendly but took a while to arrive at our table, so the service was very slow and remained that way all evening. We ordered 2 appetizers which were the Shrimp Cocktail and the Beef Carpaccio. The Beef tasted good but the Shrimp were not fresh and had an odd odour. Our dinners were the Chicken, the 7 oz. Steaks and the Mushroom Pasta. The Steaks($48) tasted very bland, the salad had no dressing, and the fries looked like McCain French Fries topped with Truffle Oil. The Chicken dish ($35)was ok but the portion was ridiculously small. The Pasta dish ($26) contained 3 Mushrooms mixed amongst the Pasta, the taste was somewhat ok but the sauce was so thick it made it look like a blob stuck together on a plate. The drinks, a Caesar and a Rye/Pepsi tasted very watered down for $14 each. We choose no desserts. All servings were terribly small for the price you paid, 3 out of 4 of us left hungry. The taste and appearance for a higher end class restaurant was below average. We would never choose this Restaurant again.

Weve only been here once so far, but will definitely return. Everything was wonderful. Food was excellent and clearly made with great care. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, but still ideal for a special occasion.

We went for our anniversary dinner. I love their food there, as usual. I had salmon and my husband had bacon wrapped steak. The service was excellent. The only thing was the dessert was very disappointing for me but my husband liked his creme brulee. I had the calebeut chocolate cake when they brought it out it looked exactly like muffin with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It tasted exactly like it too as the texture of the cake was a dry muffin. It was supposed to have white chocolate ganache that I could not notice anywhere but the server said it was in the cake. Did it melt when they heated the cake? Not sure. I hope they make changes to their dessert cause that is my favorite part of going out. Anyways still overall food and service good.

We dine there often and the reason is, it s a great place. The food is exceptional, the restaurant is well designed, the atmosphere is quiet with nice music, the service is friendly and efficient and the menu has many delicious items. Parking: Front parking, always open spots.

We had a great experience at Riverbank Bistro. The service was awesome and speedy. The drinks were delicious and they had good selection of wine. We had the mushroom bruschetta, the schnitzel and the chicken and they were all delicious. We can t wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the charming patio!

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this clown show of a restaurant. It has the worst service I ve ever experienced. We arrived at the restaurant at 7 pm, and were promptly seated. Unfortunately the service was all downhill from that point on. It took 17 minutes for the waiter to show up, and another 25 minutes for the pre-dinner drinks to arrive. Although the waiter wrote down everything our group ordered, somehow he totally forgot one of the appetizers until we told him, which we cancelled in the end because we feared it would take 30 minutes to bring to the table. Just as the last bite of the appys was eaten, dessert arrived. Of course it wasn t our dessert (we were still waiting for our entrees), it was another table s dessert. It took approximately 60 minutes for our entrees to arrive. We did complain to the waiter and he said he would pass on our complaint to the manager. In most professionally run restaurants, this would result in the Manager personally engaging with customers. Not here, it would seem the Manager was hidden away somewhere and left the dirty work to the waiter. In fact, there didn t seem to be anyone in charge. The floor staff seemed to consist of mostly young, minimally trained people. It wasn t like they were idly standing around, it was the opposite. It was unorganized chaos, in a half filled restaurant. For a meal that would normally take 1.5 hours, here it took over 2.5 hours. Although a few desserts were thrown in for free, it took over 20 minutes for them to arrive, now in a restaurant that only had customers at one remaining table. The food. Although the food was decent, it was way overpriced and the portions were minuscule as well. The cocktails tasted watered down. In conclusion, the Edmonton area has so many great restaurants, that offer both fantastic food and service, so why waste your money and time at this place.

Came here with my husband for a nice dinner out before a movie. Upon arrival there was one other couple in the dinning room, the young man helping them turned to us upon entry and went back to his conversation. We proceeded to stand at the front for over 5 minutes no acknowledgement or greeting. There is no sign that says seat yourself or please wait to be seated so after over 5 minutes of standing in the entryway we went and sat on the patio we waved at the guy as we went out. 10 minutes, no one, send in my husband who talks to the same kid and comes back out. 15 more minutes we go back inside to look for someone thats when we finally get a waitress. Over 30 minutes just to be greeted. Had we not committed to this place before our movie I would have left. Also they have a different menu depending where you sit so they did not even have 1/4 of the online menu. When we left we were still the only ones there. There is clearly a reason people dont come here. Lord this place was bad. Service is so bad here I can not forwarn you enough. Just do not come here. The food was OK but not worth the wait and the horrendous service. Once again, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Will be letting everyone know not to come here.

Im not often one for fancy restaurants, but once in a while I think its ok to treat yourself (along with friends and family of course), splurge and see how the other half are living. If you are in such a mood I would strongly recommend this place. Food was fantastic and the service matched. They were busy on account of a wedding being hosted and the chef even came out to apologize. He may very well have been an owner. Truth be told he didnt have too. The wait wasnt that long but I appreciated the gesture ... very personal. As I said the food was amazing. As such places go, the portion size was smaller than the big name places and I wish it was a tad bigger... But you know, I felt full, and looking back, I think I wanted more just on the fact that the food was so fantastic. I was inclined to take a star off for portion size (my bias) but dang if they didnt get it back on taste only. Perfect for a small group gathering or a lovely date night. Highly recommend. Parking: It was my first time here. There is a parking lot but there was a wedding on site so parking couldnt be had. But there is side street parking nearby so it wasnt that bad.

The Riverbank bistro is a hidden gem of an establishment. The food is decadent, service is personable, and atmosphere comfortable. Whilst keeping fair prices. I strongly reccomend the Riverbank Bistro for date night, or any other occasion. Dietary restrictions: Celiac is taken seriously and there is a grand selection with almost the whole menu being made available.

Honestly the best meal I ve had in a long time! The steak and sauce was so incredibly flavourful, the dessert was amazing, and our waitress was also amazing. By far best food in St. Albert that I ve had, although there are many great restaurants here, this is my favourite so far.

Went here for a company Christmas party and I loved the place, decided to take my son on a mom/son date night. The food was wonderful and it was fancy enough that my kiddo was comfortable being dressed up in a suit.

The Best of the Best! Had the pleasure of dining at Riverbank Bistro and having Ammanda as our server. First, the building and the location are absolutely stunning. Excellent atmosphere for friends, family or an intimate date. Second, the food. Unique food choices and flavours all cooked absolutely to perfection, and a great drink and wine menu. Third, and no means by last, the service. The best we have ever had. Ammanda was perfect. She anticipated our needs, checked in at just the right times, and made sure that we felt like we were her only table when in fact the place was full. Just based on the service alone, this place deserves 6 stars at least. Add that to the food and building and this is a guaranteed win. If you havent been here, go soon and go often. If you have been here before, hurry back, you wont be disappointed!

We had my mother in laws 90th birthday. There were 23 people in the lounge all to ourselves and it was an EXCELLENT experience. From the very first call. Our event planner was helpful in getting things set up to the actual event. Food was delicious and very well presented. There was even a gluten free option for some people. The event staff were very professional. Cannot say anything bad about this place. Highly recommend

Always and consistently great food!

Just went there tonight, I debated writing a review but we talked about it on the drive home and how disappointed we were. So I wanted to inform others. First off the food tasted very good. Hence at least 3 stars. Where it fell short was huge price with very small servings. For a place tries to give the impression of high end, no bread to start nothing, even the keg offers fresh bread. 3 out of 4 people at the table left hungry. I was excited for the dessert as the description in the menu made the key lime pie sound amazing. It came out and I asked the waitress where the topping of the pie was. She replied oh ya we ran out of the toppings, I guess I should have said something earlier. Ok fine mistakes happen but no manager came to say sorry about that or ask how our dinner was. To sum it up the food tasted great, portions were tiny and be prepared to possibly not get all that you ordered. We will go to the 50 other high end restaurants in the capital region.

Exquisite setting, exquisite service, and exquisite cuisine. We are truly fortunate to have this gem of a fine dining establishment in St. Albert. I have enjoyed several visits including hosting my company Christmas dinner, and the results are always fantastic. Cant wait to visit again!

Have now gone for brunch on multiple occasions. Only open on Sunday, but this is hands down the best breakfast in St. Albert and I feel like a criminal with what they re charging. Cheaper than Socrates and Ricky s and 100 times better. Shout out to the smoked salmon eggs benedict and out of this world hash browns, but I ve tried everything and it s all terrific. This is the best (dinner) restaurant in St. Albert, I ve tried them all. I m sure you could drop this restaurant into London or New York and it would be a success. The quality of food cannot be beat.

Great local resturaunt, amazing food. Great place to go for celebrating or when you want to drop a little coin on a great meal. Was a little slow getting food this last time I was there but usually is top notch. Didnt mind too much as its the kind of place you go to when you want to sit down for at least a hour and socialize.

We stopped in for our tenth anniversary here and the food was amazing. Came right when it opened on Saturday, prebooked a reservation just in case, and when we left it was filling up fast so it was probably a good idea. Had the duck and tenderloin, both were perfectly cooked. The sauces and accompaniment were so flavourful, definitely will be back!

One word service! You can tell this place knows their business. I was early to our reservation, and the hostess took the time to make sure I was comfortable, seated and with a drink in hand. Sue and Ammanda made sure every detail was taken care of to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. For anyone that has many food sensitivities or allergies, they volunteered to write them down and bring them to the cook to ensure my experience was perfect. Great location, good food.

We went for early Valentines Day dinner, hadnt been for a couple years. We both started with the Forest Mushroom Soup and then the Root Beer Glazed Short Rib, both were delicious. Very cozy and not overpriced. Definitely not waiting so long for our next visit.

I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time was amazing. A friend and I came and had amazing service. The food was so good we talked about it for days after. We had the mushroom bruschetta, bison carpaccio, beef short ribs and the duck. We went again yesterday, and ordered the mushroom bruschetta again. This time the bread was extremely crispy and hard to chew. We had compared the crust of the bread to bones. The Yorkshire puddings with short ribs was lacking much in flavour or texture and the carbonara was bland, with over cooked shrimp. We left disappointed yesterday. Hopefully was just a one off.

My father and I frequent Riverbank Bistro and have always had incredible experiences. Unfortunately, not on this occasion. Firstly, Ill say that our server, Aurora, was awesome (and very apologetic). Secondly, we were placed at a table beside a window (-35C outside). The hostess let us know that there was a space heater nearby. The food came out nice and hot and delicious (at first). 5 bites in, our food was ice cold! I let Aurora know and again, she was very apologetic. Offered us complimentary hot tea or coffee. My father didnt even eat half of his entree. I wish a manager would have at least visited the table. We werent expecting our dinners to be comped, but an acknowledgement would have been appreciated. Well definitely be back, as Ive said its always been great! Just wasnt this time around!

Best restaurant in St Albert. Amazing every visit.

Came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. If I could give half a star Id give 3.5, but wouldnt round up to 4. The service was friendly and prompt. The little things we take for granted were all there (water refilled, cutlery changed between courses, checked in on what we thought of the food). The food was good but not great. We shared bites of each others dishes but Ill focus this review on my own dishes and my wifes entree. Started with the Beef Short Rib Gnocchi. The gnocchi is Parisien style which is why I ordered it. It was light and mostly fluffy. The short rib was super tender and the gorgonzola cream sauce tied the dish together well. Its a very rich dish and was wanting something acidic for relief. Overall a great dish. For entrees we had the Citrus Glazed Duck and Bison Steak Frites. The duck was a disappointment. It had way too much cabbage which was put right on top of a tasty parsnip puree, which was a shame. The duck was slightly over cooked (still okay) but the signature crispy skin that you crave for with a duck dish was nowhere to be found. I usually love bison. I didnt love this one. It was cooked to perfection (mid-rare), but the cut used left it a little too chewy for my liking. The fries and aioli were superb! For dessert we had the key lime pie. The coconut crust sounded much better than it turned out to be. It left the crust a little too soft and I missed that crunchy texture to contrast the soft creaminess of the key lime filling (which was tasty). Overall, an enjoyable but not memorable meal.

Made a reservation for my husbands birthday for yesterday evening, made details in the reservations that was not even talked about when the waitress got to the table but other than that, the food was lovely! Service was amazing other then the little hiccup. Atmosphere was decent, I feel a few changes could make it feel a lot more upscale for the price of the food. We got the pork belly to start, very good flavour and delicious. Then we got the duck breast and the short rib. The duck breast had a significant amount of slaw with no carb source which was not what we expected but the short rib was phenomenal. I don t think I will be back to this restaurant but it was a nice night out to try somewhere new!

Come here for my birthday dinner with the husband and we were no disappointed. Top quality restaurant. Service was great and friendly, atmosphere was really nice. Food was amazing, on the pricier side but worth it, if you appreciate quality made dishes. My friend has told me to come here for years and I am so glad we finally did!

Ordered the salmon and the pork schnitzel. Nothing great here. Fish was bland and served on mash potatoes. Plus I got food poisoning. Left a message for restaurant and they never responded. Pork schnitzel was deep fried and came with fries. Got two desserts that werent that great. $90 for subpar food and poisoning. Stay away! this place I herd has gone way done hill.

This place is fantastic!!! Ive heard wonderful things for the longest time and can now confirm... all the hype is well deserved. Get there early because this quaint restaurant fills up fast! The food is incredible and the service is wonderful! I recommend the duck confit benedict, but the steak and eggs looked delicious. The cube seasoned hasbrowns are amazing!!

We were a group of 4 recently for dinner. Upon entry there was a strong sewage smell in the vestibule, which I am sure happens occasionally out of their control. The shy host who looked 15 and wouldnt/couldnt speak, only smiled, and possibly an employees daughter helping out. Our sever was cordial, however not engaged or professional, and dressed in what looked like ill fitted gym attire. Throughout the evening, we asked her 3 times for water, whereby she was more occupied spraying clean tables than attending to the few customers. With only two tables total in attendance, we waited 50 minutes for appetizers, and another 53 minutes for our entries, with everyone at the table commenting on the slowness, and our invisible disengaged server. The schnitzel was a chewy dry slab of pork, and the overcooked Bison was accompanied by rancid acidic Chimichurri. Typically we would have returned our meals, however we simply wanted to leave, as it was a brutal experience for such an expensive location. If only the food was high end as expected, and not at the level of a Tutti Fruti, we would have been ok with the evening.

Had a sibling get together on Saturday and have to say we were blown away by the quality presentation and flavour of our dishes. Best experience we have had in a while. Had the blackened cod what a spectacular dish. Loving some of the new ideas the team is presenting. No need to leave St Albert with what I am seeing and tasting coming out of this kitchen. Job well done.

Food was fantastic and same with the atmosphere. The waitress I had this evening seemed to be very slow. Waited about 20 or so minutes to get drinks and seemed to be slow for getting the bill. When I talked to the waitress about it, she seemed to become defensive and saying it was very busy. The restaurant was only about half full. Been to riverbank before with family and friends and never have I seen service like this before. I have been to Michelin star restaurants before which have been way busier and never had service like this. I am questioning if I do want to come back to riverbank because I don t potentially want the chance to have the same service again.

Seating can be a bit squishy. Last time my husband and I went, we were in kind of an alcove area where there were two tables of 4, and one table of 2. We sat at the table of 2 and it was bit tight, but it was ok. The food is always amazing, I have never had anything here that I didnt enjoy.

Quite good. Overall, a very nice experience with excellent food and drinks. Love the coffee too!

Good food and great service!

We made a large reservation for a bridal shower brunch (12 people) and were looking forward to trying this restaurant because we heard great reviews. Unfortunately, it really did not live up to the hype. We attempted to confirm our reservation the day before, but none of our calls or voicemails were returned. We needed an extra 2 seats and were rashly told they couldn t accommodate the day of (even though I told the person who I made the reservation with I would confirm numbers the day before). We all arrived at 11, and weren t greeted until 40 minutes later (no one welcomed us, no names given, and no orders taken). After sitting for an hour and a half, we were finally asked if we wanted a second drink. We understood that we were a larger party and food would take longer, but it was very disappointing that it took so long to get a second drink, considering how slow the restaurant was. After an hour and a half we finally got our food. Sadly, a few people had to leave before their food even arrived. It was really disappointing that we got the heavy impression that we were more of a burden than welcome at the restaurant. It s unfortunate that the service was incomprehensible because the food was good. We ll likely not return.

Came here for a birthday. There was 6 of us. Arrived at 7:30 and seated quickly, our drinks came quickly, but we didn t get our food for a full hour to an hour and a half and that was just the appetizer. The appetizer was actually very delicious which was the mushroom bruschetta. Our main meal came about a half hour to 45 mins after. The pasta with chicken skin was too spicy for me to eat. It doesn t say on the menu that it is spicy and the waitress did not let me know either. What makes this most ridiculous is that the waitress did not even acknowledge that it was taking so long. she didn t say a word about it. We were here for so long that we were to tired to do many other birthday activities when we got home lol.

Enjoyed an excellent brunch celebrating a loved ones birthday. Everyone cleaned their plates. Absolutely delightful staff.

The service was just adequate but the price you paid for the brunch that was served was outrageous. Pre-made waffles to McCain has-browns . Never again.

My wife and I went out for a date night. Coming from a French background and knowing and appreciating the best tasting food, I can say that Dan and the crews really nail it. Our host was amazing. The service and food are international quality cordon bleu.

We love Riverbank Bistro. The food is incredible and so well presented and executed. Every single dish we have tried here has been exceptional. This is now our go to location for a lovely dinner. They have a great selection wines and a simple drink menu with a classic selection. Also very very executed. They had duck on the menu for a while and it was the best duck I have ever had. Their short rib dish literally melts in your mouth. The cod fish dish is cooked to perfection and accompanied with pops of flavour that just make sense and leave you thinking about it until next time. Would recommend.

Very cute patio with lovely service. The portion size of the steak sides are a little on the small side, so maybe have a snack or appetizer if youre really hungry. Very good for a date night, youll be sure to impress. The service is friendly and the desserts are nut safe according to the server (not sure about the macaroon).

Well once ya find out how to get in everything was amazing . Had our reservation correct was on point with timing the drinks, orders, refills, desert the works . Timing really can be everything when your out for a lovely evening and family has flown into visit . Our server read the table beautifully and was able to actually recomend things as shes tasted the menu!!! As it should be. The food was pleasantly plated and the flavour matched the beauty. Appetizers were prompt, the shrimp was large rich in flavour and fresh. The combined flavour and crispness of greens on bison carpaccio was beautifuly balanced . Main course Meat was tender,cooked perfectly, portions were resonable and satisfying. Sweetly that even complimented me a desert. Will most certaintly be back to try more . Dietary restrictions: Had iteams that were vegitarian and flourless cake. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheel chair ramp on the street side of the building .

Our group of 4 each had a different entree and we shared 2 appetizers and we all really enjoyed the meal. I had the salmon, and it was fantastic. The one less than perfect item was my Old Fashioned cocktail which was made with Makers Mark, but that would be my only area for improvement.

I had the Arctic Char. It was very tasty. Service was good. Today we went for Sunday dinner. Roast beef and yourkshire pudding. Very nice.

We held our wedding there and reception dinner..Dan, one of the owners and chef went above and beyond to accommodate us..the food was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect..I would recommend this resturant to anyone that wants a 5 star meal...Thankyou Dan

We recently had the pleasure of working with Dan and his staff in organizing a rehearsal dinner for a family members wedding. The whole team was incredible to work with as they were prompt in responding, attentive to details, and willing to support however they could! We had originally booked the patio but on the day of the event, it became apparent the weather would not permit that with an 100% risk of a thunderstorm. Nonetheless, the dinner was still an amazing success as Dan was able to accommodate our group of 24 people in the lounge last minute! A few members of his staff immediately stepped in to help in the final hour leading up to the dinner by moving tables, setting up decorations, and creating the perfect atmosphere. Of course, we must also acknowledge how delicious the food was! In particular, our guests continue to rave about the beef short ribs, fire grilled salmon, golden beet salad, and key lime pie. If you are looking for a local venue to host your special event, we would unconditionally recommend the Riverbank Bistro!

Absolutely incredible meal! Weve been married for over 40 yrs and my husband and I rarely eat out at restaurants as we both are too often disappointed in lack of quality and overpricing, but my husband dearly wanted to take me out to celebrate my birthday. What a delightful discovery Riverside Bistro was last night!!! We both had the Bistro Salad, I had the Beef Striploin, a margarita, and a White Chocolate & Raspberry Creme Brulee and my husband ordered the Petite Schnitzel. Our salads and entrees are from the Snowbird Feature Menu (60+) and the reduced portion size and pricing was well appreciated and just perfect for us not to mention the incredibly tasting dinner we had. WELL DONE RIVERBANK BISTRO!!! Highly recommended!

Had a great dinner here. Blackened cod and Manhattan striploin steak were so delicious. Sauvignon Blanc paired really well with the cod. Ended with a glass of port wine from Taylor Fladgate. What a night. Our server Katie was so amazing! Thank you!

Very slow service middle of the week. Took 35 min for appetizers to come out. Was charged for extra dish that wasnt served and had to point out to staff to take it off bill. Food was OK. Expected a better experience.

I thought the food was wonderful, but the service could definitely use a matured touch. We were the only table in at 4:30pm, and while half our party was still on the way, the waitress was not making any effort to gesture for a drink order while we waited. She sat us down at our table and walked behind the bar. We waited for some time before I finally asked to place a beverage order, and the response was almost had a tone that suggested oh ya, I guess I could. Almost like it was a distant thought that hadnt entered their mind yet. Then, the drinks took far too long to arrive at the table. There were only 2 other tables by this time, and we had placed our drink order before them, but it took about 15-17 minutes to get ALL of them. One was a simple Scotch with water on ice, and this came out (along with another) well-after the other drinks made it to the table, without reason as to why it took so long. After they finally figured out which entrée belonged to what person, we did enjoy our meals. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was alright, but the service is where our experience suffered the most. It feels like they had youthful staff on for their short Sunday shift, and they could use some more coaching on how to better tend to their patrons for higher satisfaction. I would definitely return, but if my second visit had some of the same service experience as my first one tonight, then I would go elsewhere afterwards. Just for the satisfaction of feeling formally waited on, especially when the bill for just my own food and drinks was $160. I was paying decent money for a more robust experience, in my opinion.

Outstanding!

We have come here a couple of times now, I have had the pork schnitzel with seasonal veg, bring your appetite as this entree is very large. The last meal I had was the chicken and it was cooked to perfection, portion was in line with this style of dinning. I recommend the soup with your meal as they are next level and you will not find a better mushroom soup anywhere. The service is always great and the staff is very professional. If your looking for great dinning experience in St.Albert/Edmonton area then Riverside Bisto is an easy choice.

Amazing food and staff!! My favourite entree; root-beer ribs SOOOO YUMMY!! Chef Dan makes the most delicious soups, they are to die for! Mushroom, butternut squash and the potatoes leek-OMG, THE BEST!! This place is now one of our favourites and we will be repeat customers for sure!

An anniversary to be remembered with a true culinary experience. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, flavourful, moist with crispy skin. The roasted cauliflower was lightly seasoned, alongside reduced sweet but savoury cherries. Put them all together: a perfect concoction of flavour. Eye rolling good. Compliments to the chef and the wonderful serve staff. See you again soon!

Fantastic service!

Today was my second time enjoying brunch at Riverbank Bistro. When I came in November 2021, I was really looking forward to trying their wild-berry waffles, but was told they were sold out, even though I arrived an hour after they had opened for the day. Today, I finally got to order my waffles and they were phenomenal! They had a delightful crunchy sugar coating and were topped with blueberries and cherries in syrup, as well as two generous scoops of whipped cream. My boyfriend had the R.B. breakfast bowl with a side of lamb sausage. The flavours in the breakfast bowl were wonderful together - salty, tangy, with a hint of sweetness. We were really satisfied with the food at Riverbank Bistro.

Amazing valentines day dinner- we had never been there before and will come back for our next special occasion. I loved the Victorian house turned resteraunt. The filet mignon, caprese salad, and creme Brulee was to die for. A little expensive but you get what you pay for!

Went for our wedding anniversary and food was fantastic. The Bison was wonderful. The kitchen wrote Happy Anniversary on our dessert plate in strawberry purée. Very nice touch! Our server was exceptional and took very good care of us. I can t wait to go back!!

Riverbank Bistro is located in the red building that everybody drives by in St. Albert and I often thought to myself whats even in that building? Riverbank Bisto is a cozy restaurant located in what feels like an old house that was converted into a restaurant at one point. The servers are super nice and welcoming and generally visited the table frequently. The food was quite good I had the avacado bruschetta and it was really different tasting, it was fresh and slightly salty. It was very good. For the main I had the braised short rib, it was also quite good and could be pulled apart with a fork. It came with a goat cheese on top that melted into the meat and made it very juicy and rich. We finished with the wild berry and icecream desert, it really wasnt that great at all and I was disappointed by it. Overall its a very good french inspired restaurant with great cozy ambiance.

This was the first our many visits for us. The food was SO delicious. Order the beef tenderloin...you wont be disappointed. An absolutely wonderful meal!!!

This is one of the best restaurants in St.Albert, and the Sunday brunch is the same cost as any chain breakfast restaurant. The menu is absolutely amazing, and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone for a special occasion or just a simple dinner.

After a subpar meal at earls my husband and I had dessert and a coffee at the riverbank bistro. It was fabulous and the service was warm and friendly. We are excited to have our next date night here!

Don t let the name fool you, this is no bistro, it s some fine dining! The beef short ribs were fall off the bone good! We also had the daily special duck confit and it was amazing! Definitely will go back.

Just a fantastic view in the heart of St. Albert, the patio at the Riverbank Bistro is like a cutaway from cottage country, with a menu to match. The AB bison carpaccio was delicious, with pickled shiitake mushrooms as the star, and the golden beet salad was everything. Just a wonderful experience for date night, or a bottle of wine in the summer shade.

I will start with the food was delicious .. very tasty.. I ordered ribeye fairly reasonably priced compared to other restaurants like the keg for example but I was shocked to the amount of vegetables I was actually given .. I had 3 small asparagus 3 cut up small carrots and a tiny piece of squash.. at least it tasted like squash.. As for a macro stand point, definitely not enough veg for my daily intake if you ask me I wanted more .. I need way!! More ..

My bestfriend and I, plan and hoping to try this Restaurant once we got a chance. So I cannot say much except there features of food is tempting and tasty. I took a picture during our 70 minutes walk in the Sturgeon River trail. Which very satisfactory. Meeting a lot of friendly people. We hope to walk there again.

Held my daughters wedding dinner at the Riverbank Bistro and the food and service were fantastic! We had had the lounge to ourselves for the evening for 20 people. We had bruschetta for the appetizer and the three course menu option including tenderloin. All the courses were presented beautifully and the food was delicious. Chef/owner Dan provided creative vegan options for three of our wedding guests and I was told it was delicious as well. Kudos to front of house manager, Merissa for a great job supporting us through the planning and execution of the evening! Service was fantastic and a great time was had by all. Highly recommend The Riverbank Bistro for your events. They do as great a job for a large group as the do for and intimate dinner for two.

Everything was standard, there was nothing special about the food. We went there because it was rated 1 of the top 100 in all of Canada. The bison was tough. The pork was chewy. Everything was mediocre and probably won t be going back. It was ok just trying it once. Service was good. Out of all the ones we tried, I liked the Carpaccio the most.

Food was great! The best were the Waffles. Service was a bit lacking. Slow and unfriendly. We had to ask for many basic things like water refills, ketchup and the server never asked how the food was. She also inserted herself in the most inopportune spots, like trying to put a dish down in front of a baby. All our dishes came out separately. It felt like they didnt know how to handle a larger group. At 1pm, we were told we have to put our order in as they would have dinner service soon. Edit: Service was still quite poor. Came back for just the waffles and to celebrate our anniversary. We had an open table reservation and there were only a handful of tables inside the restaurant with two servers. OpenTable had asked if we were celebrating anything and we had typed in Anniversary. Even then they didnt know it was our anniversary and didnt offer anything. When I asked at the end of the meal, the server said well they dont do anything for free... Just led me to believe that maybe they would have a discount of some sort. She then led to say that there were desserts and asked if we wanted any. We ordered and they wrote Happy Anniversary on the plate but charged us the full price. I feel like the communication here was not the greatest. I would reconsider eating here again. Maybe take out.

Very good in atmosphere. Good for anniversary or some celebration. Not good for eating full. Tasty and good quality but not much in quantity. It takes 40 to 60 per person in average.

Last minute decision to stop in at our favourite restaurant in the capital region. We both ordered the filet and it was cooked to perfection as ordered! The au jus and the side vegetables featuring yellow beet were amazing. For our wine selection, we were in the mood for a Chardonnay and thoroughly enjoyed the Rombauer. Service as always was friendly and attentive. My wife passed on the soup starter and dessert but definitely shared some with the second spoon brought by our servers both times - truly thoughtful and appreciated!!

Overall it was ok, overpriced though. Service was unorganized but friendly. Bison carpaccio and pork belly apps were quite good. Ribeye and arctic char mains were underwhelming. Toffee pudding and creme Brule desserts were very good. Has potential. Would I go again? Nah. Not for that $$. Dietary restrictions: One Celiac and they did a good job taking care of them

Cannot fault the meal, from starter to dessert all were excellent & memorable. The service however, although pleasant, was not as professional as the food. The hostess was slow to greet us at the entrance as she was still chewing & swallowing from an obvious snacking in the kitchen. Noise in the dining area echoes so when you have a crying & tantruming baby on a table next to you & another guest two tables away with an amazing screeching laugh the atmosphere tends towards McDonalds playroom. All in all the food is worthy of the price tag and a repeat visit but unsure how to time it with a more compatible atmosphere.

My kids wanted to treat me at their favourite restaurant. We had had takeout there during Covid and it was wonderful. The wine was good. The service was slow and sporadic. The food tasted good but by the time we waited for it to come out the protein on one dish was ice cold. 2 servers became involved and this point and the senior one was very argumentative and downright snotty. The dish went back to the kitchen and was put under the broiler resulting in over cooked duck and warmish coleslaw. disappointing experience.

We Had a delicious dinner here tonight to celebrate a couple of birthdays. Food was delicious. We had the avocado bruschetta to start and shared it with 4 people. There was lots of bruschetta but not enough baguette chips. The entrees were all very good but the best was the schnitzel! Tried all the desserts we loved them all! Thank you to Susan for taking care of us tonight. Great job! I only wished we would have been seated in the alcove as I requested when I reserved.

Outstanding -the Peach salad, the Gnocchis are incredibly light and fluffy and the Artic Char is really really nice with a combination of additional flavours. Great menu all exceptional dishes -we will be back

I love riverbank, whenever Im looking for some high quality well prepared meals and a great atmosphere this is our go to place for a night out. The staff and chefs are all fantastic and Ive never had a bad experience! Easily 5 stars

Recently we have used takeout services twice from the Riverbank Bistro. Both time the presentation was excellent considering the container and the quality and taste was superb!!

Had the avocado bruschetta, not usually a fan of avocado, but the bruschetta is out of this world. Beef tenderloin was our main course, once again probably the best cut of beef I ve ever had anywhere. The price was slightly high, but worth every cent. I encourage all St. Albertans, and even edmontonians to support this small business. Cheers.

Great service, great food

The Riverbank bistro hosted a small socially distanced wedding on the weekend for my son and daughter-in-law. If I could give chef Dan 6 stars for the meal that he put together, I would. The appetizers, mushroom soup, salad and the main course were as good as you would get in the most expensive restaurants anywhere. Danielle looked after us extremely well, was attentive, quick witted and extremely accommodating. Exactly what you hope for when out for an evening. Danielle, if you read this... thank you again, you helped make the evening incredible. If you are in the Edmonton area and are looking to try a place that you have never been, give the Riverbank Bistro a try. It will become a go to for you.

Every time I go into St. Albert I always see this beautiful building-Riverbank Bistro. After 10 years of living in Edmonton I finally decided to go there. Took my fiancée tonight and it was so quaint and lovely. I had the ancho chicken pasta and she had the vegetable wellington. Both so good and quite a hefty serving. Our server, Susan, was delightful. We each had a cocktail which was blissful and we will definitely be going back. Thinking of renting out the space for our engagement party! 10/10 recommend!

We have been coming here since Willi owned it. Dan and his wife have made it even better. Best restaurant in Western Canada. If not all of Canada. As usual, our salmon and rack of lamb were superb. We rarely drive into Edmonton for a special occasion dinner. Why would we when the best is in St. Albert?

Very nice location, interesting vibe- great chairs, not much competes with it here in St. Albert. Entrees are a fair size, bison steak was excellent and salmon was also good. Coconut chicken appetizer is nothing special but it isn t bad, I d go with soup of the day instead for something a little different. More expensive than usual pub fare but on par with the Keg. Definitely worth a visit.

Recently travelled into Edmonton to celebrate a birthday weekend. Found the Riverbank Bistro online and chose it due to its high ratings and delicious looking menu. Booked a reservation for 7pm, I admit we were 2-3 minutes late for our reservation mostly due to not being able to figure out how to actually access the bistro. After being greeted and sat we promptly received menus and water. That is where all promptness ended, we continued to sit there for over 40 minutes waiting for our drink order to be taken ( which never happened ) after those who were seated after us began being served we decided it was time to leave. Quickly reviewed open table and decided to go with a tried and true favourite, Sabor. I should also mention the restaurant was no where near capacity. Although the menu looked appealing I would not recommend as it was not a welcome way to celebrate a milestone. When leaving, we mentioned to the waitstaff that we were going somewhere else and they were completely oblivious to the fact that we were even there. All in all, not a great experience whatsoever.

Great service and great food. I had the lamb while my wife had the bison. We had some questions because my wife doesnt like coffee and the bison has a coffee rub. Had it clarified and it was delicious.

Fantastic food and beautiful location

I wish I could give 6 stars - I dont think Ive felt this way about a restaurant in a long time. First, the menu is fantastic. Tons of mouth-watering choices that we will soon return for... Interesting flavours and executed absolutely perfectly. To start, we ordered the mushroom soup (the best Ive ever had), the short rib arancini (amazing and perfectly accompanied by the pickled onion - order an extra side of pickled onions for the arancini if you are a fan like we are...), and the maple mustard pork belly (delicious, punchy flavours). Next, my partner and I both had the tenderloin with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly to our request - medium rare - and was served with a delicious herb butter. I am usually a rib-eye gal myself but this tenderloin was lovely. (Would love to see a ribeye on the menu in the future.) Finally, rounded out dinner with a salted caramel creme brulee which had a beautiful texture and chilled taste. This was a great contrast to the caramelized sugar top. My partner LOVED this and we are contemplating driving out to get one again... We had to chat with the chef and owner, Dan, after our wonderful meal. Having eaten at so many restaurants, my partner and I are very rarely wowed by any of our experiences. The chef clearly takes a lot of pride in cultivating an interesting and perfectly balanced menu. I ate the bison with truffle sauce and I really loved it! The perfect light, yet filling, meal for me. The truffle sauce was so good that I look forward to returning here! Dont panic if the menu only says appetizers and starters, its definitely the whole menu, and the pasta dishes are larger than those terms suggest :)

We had a wonderful brunch at Riverbank Bistro today. The restaurant is pretty and modern feeling. I love the decor. And the food is fabulous. I had the mushroom and spinach eggs benedict with truffle oil. It was so delicious and luxurious. My fiancé had the traditional eggs benedict and loved it as well. We both raved about the hashbrowns potatoes! They are seasoned nicely, and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Our dishes each came with a fruit skewer as well. We were both very impressed and have been checking the dinner menu for our next visit!

Went here for date night with my wife, food was mostly good I had the chicken and the skin was so salty I couldn t eat it, I pulled that off and finished the rest. Mushroom soup was very good, wife had the Bison and she said it was good as well. I would recommend, if it weren t for the salty chicken skin it would be five stars.

This was our 2nd time here. The food and service was great on the 1st visit and it still was great on the 2nd time. We would definitely go back.

You wouldnt believe how hospitable the staff and owner are. Beyond excellent. Had our wedding there this week and they were nothing but the best. Food was 10/10. Prices are great, the general look of the building are outstanding. Would recommend to anyone even for a small meal or drink. Truly amazing.

Very cozy environment. Asked for confirmation of vaccination and it helped to make us feel safe. Of course the food was AMAZING! Photos show the Haddock on a really tasty broth as well as of course... creme brulle. HIGHLY Recommended... but it doesnt allow me to give it more than 5 stars.

Let me be clear ... Im rating a 1 star today, but it has always been a 4.9 (nobodys perfect). We met 2 other couples for dinner last night - we hadnt been out in quite some time with them, so we were looking forward to another great experience. Save for a few good laughs, this wouldnt be it. We had a reservation for 6 - adults, but it was like we were all at the kids table at Christmas. My mushroom soup ($11) had a skin on it and had obviously been sitting for a while. My salmon ($32) was overcooked - not so much so that I would send it back, but nevertheless overcooked. Scant serving size for the entire dish. The food, overall was almost up to the usual par. The Service .... yikes. In a highly competitive market as hospitality, the Service staff can make you or break you - especially in the higher end restaurants. Table maintenance (poor), watering (poor), beverage check (poor), timeliness (poor), customer rapport (non-existent). In our family, we work on the 3-Strikes-Youre-Out, when it comes to restaurants and if a place gets 3 strikes, we do not return for at least 1 year. I get it - every place can have an off-night and last night was garbage. Overheard comments, gestures and other non-verbal cues from other customers confirmed we were not the only under impressed diners. I would never have thought the Riverbank Bistro would earn a strike with us. Very disappointing.

You can tell the team love what they do - the food is so delicious. If you were to give most folks the ingredients we couldnt replicate what the team does in our kitchens at home. This is the kind of place where it feels like the people behind the scenes are into cooking as a life purpose vs just another pay cheque feeling you get at so many restaurants. Thats the kind of experience I love to pay money for when I dine out and Riverbank Bistro provides it in spades.
