516 St Albert Trl, St. Albert, AB T8N 6A7, Canada
Ukrainian cuisine is served in an old-world dining room richly decorated with murals & paintings.
Awesome food and the service was fast and friendly. Many good things to try on the menu. We will be back to try more.
Great change of pace from typical American fair. Staff very friendly and great food.
First time I have ever given any restaurant a review. Enjoyed it so much I had to do so. Food was amazing! Huge portions for great value, would definitely recommend! 5 stars!!
A nice sized restaurant that has a warm atmosphere to it. Something on the menu would appeal to anyone-the food was delicious with good sized portions. The 4 of us walked away very happy. My only regret is that 3 of us are Ukrainian and we don’t understand a word.
Was actually heading to an Indian Restaurant but found it was closed so I walked a few doors down and noticed Taste of Ukraine. That worked out perfectly otherwise I wouldn't have found this Gem. Nice relaxing atmosphere and the food was so good. Definitely a place you need to try. I will be back for sure next time I am in town.
1st time there and food was so delicious. Can't wait to go back. 😁 It started with a little bread and garlic butter. Delicious! We ordered sausage perogies as appetizer. They were divine! Main course was salmon pastry with sauce, potatoes with dill sauce and a Caesar salad. Croutons were melt in your mouth, no joke. My husband had meatballs and gravy and perogies, which he was moaning through each bite. Dessert was a crepe with chocolate and ice cream. Every single bite was a mouth watering masterpiece. I cannot wait to go again. We are planning to bring the in-laws next time. I recommend that if you havent tried this restaurant, you should really go and support this quaint out of the way restaurant for some real at home Ukrainian food 🇺🇦. Or if you haven't been in awhile, have a visit again. It's worth your while!
We went for their Mother’s Day 3 course meal, and everything was SO GOOD!! They catered to my vegetarian needs, swapping out the meat for some other sides. It has such a cozy atmosphere — makes you feel like you’re really in Ukraine!
There is alot to unpack here. Firstly the location is in a wonderful town worthy of its own review and exploration. Parking is not hard, right near the entrance in kind of a strip center. Walking in reminds me exactly of a traditional restaurant I frequented in Kyiv. Decor is done right with working life and traditional painted depictions. The tables and booths are of heavy sturdy dark wood and examples of Ukrainian decorations are all over the place. The food is also traditional. Having married into a Ukrainian family, my opinion might be elementary, but everything was authentic and tasty. I went full bore with the cherry ribs and corn porridge etc. You really would do yourself a justice in coming here and exploring the menu a few times. Place was pretty full and I got the impression this was not untypical. Everyone was enjoying themselves and plant of conversations. Atmosphere was really good.
ALWAYS the very best service & yummiest food. We consider them a part of our family
Traditional Ukrainian food, sausage & sauerkraut is my favourite with a few perogies topped off with sour cream
The food is amazing, the staff are wonderful and the decor/atmosphere is perfect.
Went for the perogies and I was not disappointed. The nalysnyky was great as well.
I recommend! The borscht here is simply wonderful, and the pancakes are incredibly tasty. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, an ideal place for those who want to enjoy authentic Ukrainian hospitality.
I ordered Meatballs and Gravy with 8 perogies. The meatballs were very dry (I almost consumed my entire beer washing them down), the gravy was almost non existent and the perogies were pasty.
Good food, and if you love pickles, visit in Sept. Very tasty and unique dishes.
Best Ukrainian food I have ever had. Only in the area for a few days and planning on going back.
Went here for our anniversary. Staff and service was fantastic and the restaurant is best described as a whimsical storybook setting. And above all, the food. Potatoes buns were light and fluffy, dill sauce was nicely balanced and complimented rather than over powering, and the star of the show the pirogies. If you want to know what love tastes like, get the pirogies. Perfectly hand crafted in a way that shows decades of dedication to a their craft.
Delicious supper. Friendly service. Theyve changed the menu a bit over the years and now its simpler with all the best things. Cant wait to try the takeout options.
The best restaurant in St. Albert. Everything was delicious, and a visitor from Ottawa ended up buying a liter of Borshest. To take home as there is nothing like it there. Thank you so much for hosting us this evening.
Me and the wife come here allll the time we absolutely love the service and atmosphere. Caesar cocktails are 10/10 wish we could buy bottles of it.
Always delicious food Owners are amazing, service is second to none We went with large group for my Wife s birthday St Albert s hidden gem Really enjoyed dining here I cannot recommend Taste Of Ukraine enough We will be back
Had the progress and cabbage rolls ans borscht. Fantastic as always.
Kapusniak is a hearty and budget friendly soup love it
Had dinner here last night for the 1st time with a friend who is from the Ukraine and managed a restaurant there and was also her 1st time here we both highly recommend coming here the food was absolutely delicious, the borscht was delicious and the main dish we both had the Chicken Kyiv and was very delicious and recommend this dish. If you want to taste true authentic Ukrainian food I highly recommend coming here.
If you wanna go to a restaurant with amazing customer service and great food , here s the place. 10 stars if I could.
Really like at home
Good food. Friendly, fast service. Quaint setting.
A genuinely enjoyable experience. I had Chicken Kiev which sounds like something a mobster would order, and if capital punishment were a thing in Canada and I was a real mobster this would be my death row pick for last meal. I drove from the city and will do so again, worth the drive for some gorgeous food and great service.
Excellent service and delicious food. Amazing experience. This is such a great place!
Fabulous dinner. The food was fantastic and it was a great evening.
Our server was incredible ! Tall gentleman with dirty blonde hair, He was courteous and smiled everytime he approached or left the table and was funny as well! The food , well the food was hands down the best Ukrainian food I have ever had in my life - my partner agreed with me. Tried some new food and even learned some Ukrainian words from our server! Reasonably priced And adorable atmosphere , everywhere you looked there was a new little easter egg hidden in a corner or on the walls. Overall , if you re looking for a new spot to try or just wanna go somewhere where you KNOW the food will be good, do yourself a favour and come here!
Our first visit here was on spec for their New Years special menu. Am I ever glad we tried this gem of a place. The food was wonderful: perfectly prepared with excellent flavours, textures and presentation. The sauces especially were outstanding. The service was excellent: efficient, friendly, helpful, and courteous. The atmosphere is excellent with traditional decorations including several walls presenting original artwork from Ukraine. The location is easy to find with adequate parking available. I look forward to our next visit.
Just a str8 banger for grub, food for the boys for days
Fantastic local place! Definitely recommend coming here
Nice
Excellent food and one of the best interiors out of any restaurant I ve been too, Slava Ukraini
Lovely family-run authentic Ukrainian restaurant with friendly service, and delicious food! Bought several dozen of their frozen perogies, and made them to go with our Christmas dinner - everyone raved. They were the highlight of the meal!
This place is Amazing! It has been Years since we ve been(when it was located on Jasper Ave in Edmonton) The Service was Excellent! Food was Yummy
Love it!
Nice interior design with Ukrainian style. Waitress and waiter are super friendly.
The food was exactly as I remembered from my childhood. Loved it. In particular the cabbage rolls and perogy.
Great food, great atmosphere, good prices. Highly recommended. Best Slavic food joint in the Edmonton metropolitan area.
Fun time with old friends. The dancer was a surprise and enjoyed a bit of Ukraine s culture along with the food
Awesome food!
The house wine Piesporter was fantastic. We had the Chicken Kiev, appetizer parodies, and for dessert we had Blueberry parodies.
Food is very tasty and seems home cooked. Never had Ukrainian food before outside of the odd cabbage roll, and the variety that you can get on your plate with a standard entree was awesome! Im usually very critical of Caesars (the clamato drink) made at restaurants and although this lacked any flare (some people like flare I suppose), the taste exceeded my expectations and was a welcome surprise. Great place if you want a meal that gives you a feeling of home (regardless of youre familiar with the cooking style). Ill definitely go again as theres lots on the menu I still want to try!
Taste of Ukraine has authentic, home-cooked taste of Ukrainian favourites. Its like a hug for your stomach. The decor is charming and the serving staff are so pleasant. Order the plate of just pickles for a trip down memory lane to babas house.
Got take out but was a cute little restaurant and food was great- got the sampler.
We have come to eat here throughout the years. Evertime it is amazing! The food is to die for and the staff are so friendly.
First time trying Kapusnyak soup and love it and delicious. I miss Nalysnyky as my mom used to make and delicious .
Very tasty Ukrainian food. It also has gluten friendly options. Enjoyed the ambiance and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Best Ukrainian food Ive ever had (besides my babas). Everything tastes delicious and fresh, with my favourites being the Kovbasa & Kraut and Meatballs in Gravy. All the sides are delicious; the nalysnyky and pyrizhky are perfect and not overly rich, and the pyrohy are my absolute favourite. So glad their business survived during COVID and so happy to see all the support they had when they did their fundraiser for Ukraine.
Good food and a great atmosphere.
Absolutely perfect
Great Family restauant, great host as well, made us feel at home in their business.
If you like pyroghys you NEED to eat them here. They are so good! And if you love them, take some frozen ones with you.
Delicious supper - kobasa, meatballs and the borscht all very tasty. Perogies and cabbage rolls also yummy!
Love the decor and friendly service as our family gathered for food and visiting. So many Ukrainian dishes from which to choose. Delicious!
Awesome food and service.
Thank you for the great service and food for our wedding!
Best Ukrainian cuisine in the whole Edmonton, greetings to the chef for the top quality dishes and to the owners for warm and welcoming ambiance and exceptional service!
Loved it! Comfort food defined - decent portions of very tasty food which is very reasonably priced, with very attentive service. Recommended!
My husband and I visited this restaurant in Toronto, they have beautiful and delicious cuisine
The institution has corrected itself And he went to glory The only complaint Remove Yulkas photo
The best place we have been to for Ukrainian food. You will not be disappointed. We will be back when we are in the city. Thank you
We went during pickle fest which I live so my meal was outstanding. The atmosphere and decor are fabulous and authentic. The wait times for service were not so good. My company also didn t love their meals but because the wait was so long for the food to come every bite was eaten. I still recommend this establishment, just be patient and don t come too hungry.
Excellent service, year after year after year
We were in St. Albert and looking for something different for Dinner. We found the Taste of Ukraine, which has been in St. Albert for 12 years. Ordered the two course special which was Dill Pickle Soup followed by Chicken Bytky with Perogies and we chose Pyrizhky as our side. The soup was flavourful, and the main entrée was nicely presented. The Mushroom sauce was flavourful and the portion size was decent. The side dishes were good as well. Our waitress, to whom I apologize for forgetting her name, was pleasant and knowledgeable. The meal was a nice change from your average family restaurant and I am glad we stopped and tried it out. The server was fantastic and was helpful in pronouncing the names of the dishes. This is a spot I recommend that if you havent been to it, you should give it a try some day soon.
Food abd service is always amazing here.
We ordered our Christmas dinner from Taste of Ukraine. It was absolutely delicious! Thank you.
We had an amazing dinner night out tonight!! The atmosphere and server were wonderful. The food was simply amazing. The chicken kyiv was wow. Dessert was definitely worth it too! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Delicious perogy or perogi plates, sorry Im not Ukrainian so uncertain about the spelling.
First time coming here although my husband and his family have been regulars for a while. Theres not much I can say other than the food and service were equally amazing. I would 100% recommend coming here and will be going again soon!
Excellent service Food is unbelievable good
Nice atmosphere servers are pleasant; the cherry ribs are awsome
Fantastic food. Great atmosphere in a cute restaurant.
A huge thank you to the taste of Ukrainian who was able to get us a lot of individually package meals with short notice. The food was amazing and you guys always do a fantastic job. Thank you so much.
Ridiculously delicious!!!!
Fantastic food! Highly recommend! And a cool atmosphere too.
First time to Ukranian restaurant. Delicious food. Perogies, chicken and the ukranian beer.
The service and food was fantastic.
Mom chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner. We were warmly welcomed. I loved the decor. I enjoyed the meal I ordered. A birthday dessert with a candle was a surprise!
Fantastic food, great staff and a very nice atmosphere to enjoy dinner with family or friends.
Great restaurant! I love the perogies and chicken kiev. last month they did a parking lot fundraiser for Ukraine and sold perogies to go! We will be back for sure.
I have no idea how this is rated so high, we decided to try as we were looking for something new and close by. The restaurant is dingy and dusty, the food not good at all, it was tasteless, burned, the gravy was definitely made from a packet and the pierogi were bland as well. To top it off, it was overpriced for what you got.
Excellent food good service and atmosphere
The ambiance is alluring, authentic. The food is delicious and very much enjoyed. The service could make more effort on their table side manners. There was no chit chat or even interest in acknowledging us. It was our 32nd anniversary and no effort was made help us celebrate our milestone. Please step up and take an actual interest in your customers, be more friendly cause our waitress barely allowed us anytime for questions about this restaurant and she did not show any interest back.
Fantastic setting, food and service!
Always great food!
Delicious sampler plate of traditional Ukrainian foods, had selection of international beers.
An excellent place to go, if you want to impress your guests. Easily the best Ukrainian food restaurant that Ive been to in years, if not ever.
I ve eaten a lot of this kind of Ukrainian food over my whole life. This has to be the best. Especially the best Borscht I ve ever had. Ambience is really nice here too. Can t wait to come back.
Good variety of dishes, delicious food, and friendly service! Highly recommend a reservation or calling ahead for orders, as they fill up quickly and it may be a long wait.
Wow is the only word to describe. Food was amazing. Service was flawless, unrushed and very polite.
Best place ever for food. They know my order without having to even ask and it s always such a great experience.
Incredible food and great service
Update: I am so glad Taste of Ukraine survived through covid. Its the same delicious food and I still love it here! Also if you havent gone to pickle fest, you need to go! Original review: The food is always amazing here and the atmosphere very quaint and cozy!
The food was extremely amazing and delicious. First time having cabbage rolls perfectly cooked. Will be back again.
Took Ukrainian refugee family to help ease the pain of leaving everything behind. It proved to be a great comfort to them! The music had the young girls dancing Ukrainian style in the bathroom! Great atmosphere and our waiter helped immensely with the language barrier. One suggestion, add a kids and seniors section to your menu and perhaps even a Ukrainian language menu. Kid-friendliness: Children menu
Nice cozy place
Excellent perogies so tender and delicious.
Perogies were delicious and the pyrizhky with dill sauce were extremely yummy. I wish I could have eaten the whole dish!
One of my favorite places to eat in St. Albert. Great family owned restaurant
I make sure to go every year when I visit Edmonton. Their food and service is excellent.
Id give this place 10 stars if I could. I got 3 menu items and all were incredible
Amazing food and service always! A place where you get treated like family.
Amazing food, fantastic service, and family owned. I will go again.
First time here. Excellent service. Nice selection of Ukrainian dishes. Chicken Kiev was large and very tasty. Ham sausage was not too garlicky. Perogies were very good as were the cabbage rolls. They served hot bread right out of the oven to start- so delicious! Wonderful decor - like sitting in a outdoor cafe in a Ukrainian village. Will definitely come back again.
Extremely friendly staff, reasonable menu selections and large portions. The food was very well prepared and tasted great. Beautiful paintings and murals decortaing the walls.
They make great perogies, all the food is A1 and to dine in is wonderful
When my parents and I ate there a year and half ago it was fantastic. My father said the soup was just like his mother use to make it in the old country (Europe). The paintings on the wall and decor was so interesting we took a tour of the place. We felt like we were in Ukraine. The waitress was so friendly. Well done.
Take out dinners were good.
Fantastic food! Awesome personal service!
Always a great meal.
Staff were incredibly rude but the food was good
The best chicken kiev ive ever had! Portion size is not too big and leaves you happily satisfied. Had the lemon poppyseed cake for dessert, very yummy.
Best Ukrainian food in town, amazing ambiance and service. Very authentic!
Amazing food! Authentic Ukrainian food.
We had an amazing time at the restaurant
Great place to come for Ukrainian food.
Very good food
We enjoyed our dinner at Taste of Ukraine immensely. The friendly and courteous service received, in the warm surroundings of delightful art work and Ukrainian dance costumes, is a wonderful nod to the culture. Do try the deep fried pickles and accompanying sauce - they are a savoury starter. The selection of entrees are made with quality ingredients, beautifully presented and served piping hot; all for a very reasonable price. Thank you for your generous hospitality!
Excellent, authentic food. They do it right and don t have to rely on loads of salt for taste. Highly recommended!!
Excellent service, fine food.
Love love love!!! The food was amazing! The staff were fantastic, cant say enough good things. Mmmmm
We love this restaurant. Family owned and operated. Service is excellent and food has always been amazing!
Extremely friendly staff with great recommendations. Food was delicious and decoratios inside are very pleasant. Highly recommend going for any occassion.
Went to taste of Ukraine yesterday for their Ukranian Christmas dinner. The food and service were amazing! Highly recommend!!!
I loved the food and the service and definitely the atmosphere . Definitely will be back
Great experience and the food was great. Will be returning to try other items, so many to chose from
Delicious food, great portions, lovely service.
Great food. Good service
Ive been dining at Taste Of Ukraine for over 15 years. Back when it was located in downtown Edmonton. The food, staff and experience has always been absolutely fantastic.
Oh my gosh this place is so so good. Everyone should come here to eat delicious food and support local business! If you like Ukrainian food or food at all you need to try this place. We went for my best friend s birthday and we were not disappointed. The server was attentive and personable. The atmosphere was uniquely Ukrainian and the food was the die for. Please go!
Family operated restaurant with classic Ukrainian cusine.
Great food very typical of Ukrainian fare. Very reasonable prices and excellent service
Love the atmosphere and the food is delicious! We also buy frozen take-out to enjoy pierogies and cabbage rolls at home. Taste of Ukrainian is a wonderful restaurant in St. Albert!
Very friendly staff and great food, I just wish there was a little bit more (though I probably dont need it). They are currently only doing takeout due to COVID, but should have dine in Friday June 12, 2020.
Atmosphere was great, service was awesome and the food was phenomenal! I did not tal pictures as we were all focused on eating......lol
Great food
Everything was so delicious. It was the best borscht Ive ever had. The interior is decorated so festively. I cant wait to come back to try more items on the menu!
This restaurant is amazing. The food and service are top notch. Go! You wont regret it.
Great place and very tasty food. Will came back for sure! Thank you guys!
An excellent restaurant. The food is awesome. The only draw back, its a little pricy.
Absolutely love this place. The food is fantastic and service has always been fantastic. I love the feel of the restaurant, it feels so cozy. And their dill pickles are sooooooo good.
Amazing food, the pork was delicious with just the right amount of cheese and tomatoes. The cheese creeps were fluffy and light but packed with flavor, and the pierogis are always outstanding. Worth checking out. This is the second time Ive been here, once a little over a year ago. I had the same server Andrew both times and he was the same polite, friendly, and attentive server both times.
All the food here is absolutely amazing but the borscht has to be my favourite! The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. This is by far the best Ukrainian restaurant in the Edmonton area!
Great homemade food. Well worth a visit.
Says open until 9 but close at 8. I work long hours and have to go to fast food because of this. I do not know if they have good food or not. I did not get the chance to eat.
We have been to this restaurant quite a few times. This is family run business with real home cooking and they make you feel like extended family. When my Dad passed away, this was his favorite place to eat, they closed the restaurant for us, made sure we were taken care of and make us feel so welcome. We also use this restaurant for their take out - our Family celebrates a traditional Polish family and this is the only place we go to get some of their specialties to add to our meal! Prices are beyond reasonable and portions are more than enough (always get to take extras home)!
I ate here last night and it was wonderful. It certainly gives you a taste of Ukrainian food. It s clean and the staff are wonderful. A great place to take someone on a date. If you want more than a taste, something more reminiscent of babas kitchen table, it s gonna have to be Uncle Ed s in Beverly. The only reason this restaurant doesn t get five stars is because of the portion sizes. When you go to babas house you leave exceedingly full. This establishment exactly that: a taste, a primer in the Ukrainian experience. Lol - you ll enjoy this restaurant.
Everything was delicious..... went for birthday dinner highly recommend cherry desert perogies and naleshnyka!
First time eating here and we were SO happy with the service and with our meals! The interior decor alone made the entire experience memorable! Also it was fairly busy when we arrived with no reservation but you wouldn t have known it by the prompt service and quality meal. Highly recommend making a stop in here if you re in St. Albert!
Wow that was great.
Great atmosphere and food
Adorable atmosphere
