We have always eaten well, this is our third time. Although a little expensive, its worth it, they use local produce of the moment and their different menu each time we came was simply delicious!

We expected to experience a delicious moment when we showed up at Théophile Bar à vin. A beautiful place but an overall disappointing experience because the plates lacked love and generosity. At the price asked for the dishes we expected to live a grandiose experience like the decor. No way. It s okay without more, nothing original to tickle our taste buds and leave us with a remarkable impression! The main menu is short and lacks creativity. When you choose to have such a concise menu (5 main courses), you expect it to be remarkable, but no. Even the server has trouble finding his way around. The $90 tasting menu includes 5 dishes from the regular menu, another lack of imagination. To apologize for our disappointment with the meal, we were presented with bread at the end of the service even though we had finished eating. A poorly timed false good intention. At this stage a dessert would have been more appropriate and appreciated. My lamb-stuffed pasta was nothing remarkable or satisfying. The tartare as a starter was good but should have been accompanied by croutons, a notable lack of generosity. Théophile lacks finesse, love and generosity, which left us hungry literally!

The restaurant benefits from a magnificent, chic and neat decor. However, the atmosphere was non-existent. On a Friday evening, the establishment was almost empty, creating a cold and impersonal atmosphere. Despite the beauty of the place, without a clientele to animate it, the setting loses all its appeal. The service frankly left something to be desired. The inexperience of the servers was palpable and created constant discomfort. Every interaction was awkward, and there was a distinct lack of professionalism and training. As far as the cuisine was concerned, it was a series of disappointments, despite a few exceptions. The tartare, for example, was good, but it didnt come with any croutons, which is disappointing and unusual for this type of dish. The duck dish was good. Besides that, the other dishes were sorely lacking in flavor, leaving a strong impression that quality ingredients were simply poorly showcased. The scallop crudo as a starter was completely tasteless, the homemade pasta as a main meal was undercooked. Additionally, the portions were ridiculously small for such high prices. We hoped to end the evening positively with desserts that looked delicious. The unsweetened whipped cream accompanying an already bitter cocoa dessert was a gross error in taste. The puffed rice in the other dessert was no longer crispy. A series of basic errors that one would think could be avoided. The only positive point was the wine, which was good, but, once again, the waiter had no knowledge of the menu to advise us. For a wine bar , this is a significant element. The cocktails, unfortunately, werent up to par either. For a restaurant of this range, one expects well-balanced drinks and refined presentation, but this was not the case. This further added to the general disappointment. In short, despite an attractive decor, the lack of atmosphere, the inexperience of the staff and disappointing dishes strongly dissuade us from returning. At that price, we expected much better.

What a great time spent at Théophile during lunch time. The scallop crudo with heirloom tomato gazpacho was to die for. The fish of the day with salsa verde was stunning. Fries and green salad are a must for sides. And what can we say about the service team formed by Sarah and Sam, who are a fantastic team. Thank you for this good time and see you soon

A wine bar where you have to ask three times to review the wine list (to order more), and where you have to wait 40 minutes to receive the nectar in question, its rubbish. Damage. The food was excellent but the three waitresses who took turns at the table of our small group of seven spoiled our experience with their nonchalance. Drinking bottoms of glasses of water that have become tablets while waiting to be served from a bottle sold way too expensive for what it really is, means that I wont go back there again. Restaurants have become very expensive, the least we can do is take care of the customers

Forced to admit that this restaurant experience did not live up to our expectations. We are young parents who allowed ourselves a rare evening without children last Friday. When making the reservation online, I specified that my partner was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. Upon arrival at the restaurant we repeated this information to our waitress and she told us she already knew it. We wanted to spoil ourselves and ordered the 6 course meal, expecting a real culinary experience, we asked the waitress again to make sure with the kitchen that there were no concerns with allergies before ordering. order our dishes, she assured us that everything was ok. The service was courteous, but the waitress was unable to answer our questions about the menu and had to validate in the kitchen before coming back to us with the answer; for a gourmet restaurant, we were surprised not to have a more informed server. The evening still went well, we appreciated the pairing proposed by the sommelier, our dishes were mostly good, we enjoyed this rare moment as a couple. When we got to the last service, dessert, we were full and we were expecting a party so we asked to take the dessert to go. We receive the bill and we leave the premises, 2 hours later I receive a call from the restaurant which informs us that there were hazelnuts in the dessert, he apologizes and asks us if my partner had tasted them. Chances are, no, my partner hadnt tasted the dessert yet, but this call left us feeling really uncomfortable. It is already difficult for my partner to trust most restaurants because he often feels that his allergies are not taken seriously and that the employees are poorly informed, which greatly reduces the pool of restaurants we frequent. We have realized over the years that gourmet restaurants are much more serious and our allergies are always taken care of and we immediately feel confident, so after a bill of almost $350 for 2 people, we stay with a bitter taste of this experience and it is very disappointing for a luxury that we really do not often afford. We appreciate that the restaurant contacted us but it was 2 hours later, the chances that we had already eaten dessert were huge, this type of mistake should never happen. To err is human, but when we talk about allergies we are talking about the life of someone who could be put in danger, and there is no risk to take. I really hope that new measures will be put in place to avoid this type of error in the future, for our part, unfortunately we will not set foot in this establishment again.

Unfortunately I have to give 3 stars. The dishes were good, but the quantities were very small. We didnt eat our fill even though we had a starter. The dishes are very expensive for the quantity. Several wines were missing from the menu, and I would have appreciated if the waitress knew more about wine given that it is a wine bar.

A jewel of the south shore and the promenades: definitely a restaurant to stop and enjoy if you are an epicurean or simply a wine lover! Find out about the different options on the menu and dont hesitate to ask for food/wine pairings: the sommeliers will be happy to talk to you. I highly recommend the octopus! As for the portions, the dishes and starters eat well for one person. The focaccia is in 3 pieces and is perfect for one person or to share. The frit dish comes with mayonnaise and is eaten for two (or 1 person if you have a big appetite). LOTS of parking since its a shopping center. Plan to wait in the toilets if its a busy evening (only two toilets).

Smauel, our waiter was amazing he clearly memorized the menu and was able to guide us through everything and found us a great wine. The decor and the little details showed in this new establishment. The food was well priced according to what you got. The fresh crudo tartar was so light, refreshing and well balanced. The mains were Cod and Steak + Fries. The Cod was perfectly cooked along with the sauce that melted in your mouth and the accompaniments made for a nice harmony and well balanced dish. Its surprising how many restaurants or so called steak houses cant get a steak frite right, they were able to simplify it and actually bring us back to the French classics! The steak melted in the mouth, the fries were cut and fried to perfection, the sauce vin rouge brought it all together and the little homemade mayo on the side was perfect! For dessert pana cotta was well executed however the flavouring they used was slight overpowering the other elements in the dish but was still very delightful. Thank you to all the staff and all the hard work you put in, it shows! Keep going, I cant wait to come back again! 4.9/5

We were disappointed by the experience. Nice atmosphere, nice restaurant, nice welcome. On the other hand, very small portion for the price, dishes too rich in butter with flavors that lacked subtlety. The wine by the glass wasnt memorable either. In terms of service, there was a lack of explanations on the items in the dish. Ex. The leek cream, my partner said its cold it will be perfect. The server didnt respond. The plate arrived with 4 small pieces of leeks with seasoned cream. We will unfortunately not return there. When the quality of the food is there, no problem for smaller portions, but that was unfortunately not the case here.

We had heard lots of good comments, but we were disappointed yesterday! Great place, great service... but... we take the 4-course Valentines Day menu and get away with the wine at $275 for a meal that was ultimately disappointing! Each individual dish was good (not extraordinary). But it s really the combination of dishes that s the big disappointment! The trout, cod and leeks all came with a creamy sauce and herby oil so it felt like we were tasting the same flavors, but with a basic difference! And the 4th course: pasta with cream! 4 dishes with cream! All in all, we had a lovely evening, the waiters were great, the cod was perfectly cooked, but there was a real lack of sophistication in the dishes.

We had an remarkable experience from the overall atmosphere and the attention to detail I can t recommend enough to give this place a try. The service staff was very professional and handled our table for two perfectly. The food was delicious and of course ambience and music really set the mood for a perfect date.

I have frequented almost all the good restaurants in greater Montreal. Le Théophile is one of the best restaurants on the south shore of Montreal. They have an excellent wine selection and the service is impeccable. If you want a good French restaurant, theres no point going to Montreal now.

Service was slow and inattentive. Tenderloin was way overcooked and bland. Carpaccio was creative but lacked flavour.

We were given a $150 gift certificate from our kids for Noel. Service was bilingual and good. Modern decor and nice environment. We (adult daughter and I) were disappointed by the size of the portion of our selected meal (homard $30). It was good but small portion as if I had eaten 4 pieces of sushi. Not even a bread roll on table. My wife had lamb cavatelli and liked the taste and portion. $15.00 for a glass of wine My coffee was very good. Parking: Lots of free parking.

Here is our experience for my partner and I at Théophile Bar à vin last night, April 7, 2023. For my part, I had heard A LOT of good comments about this restaurant, and my partner didnt know it. So it was a first visit for us, and certainly not the last, here s why: When we arrived, we were seated in a relatively noisy place and asked to change tables, which was done with the greatest respect and our service was not affected at all. We decided to leave our evening in the hands of chef Robin and sommelier Samuel by choosing the carte blanche with wine pairing. One word: grandiose! We had the opportunity to taste meals, foods and wines that we had never even been bold enough to try before. Every meal offered to us was better than the one before. We could only admire the talent of the chef through his tastings. We were also lucky enough to be served by Sophie-Anne who did not hesitate to ensure that our evening went smoothly, if everything was to our taste, if we needed anything else, etc. But what struck us the most was seeing and hearing the passion she had throughout her explanations. Smiling, attentive, everything was perfect. The bill was yes, hefty, but we expected this amount so in no way disappointed. The quality that we were served, whether by: the meals, the wine and also the service was worth much more than what we paid. So do I recommend, 100% yes! Are we going back, certainly, and our taste buds are just asking for that. Thank you for this evening that we will not soon forget

We went yesterday with my wife and got the Menu Dégustation with wine , in 7 services. All was really great and we appreciate the selection of wine. A bit too noisy, we were expecting to have a bit of romantic dinner, and it was at the end a bit too loudly... But I still strongly recommend, we had a great time there. Food

I was there for my birthday. What a great discovery. The wine list is superb, but a little expensive in my opinion, there is a lack of wines under $100, but the welcome and the dishes were refined and delicious.

The food is more than worth the detour, its frankly excellent (the dishes should be better explained to the service on the other hand). The atmosphere, on the other hand, could be improved: music that lacks punch, the open door to the shopping center (close it perhaps?). The service, to finish, is cold, a bit as if they dont want to hear from you, not much smile either, except when handing over the bill :/

I would not recommend at all. Having visited several restaurants with culinary discoveries with food and wine pairings, Théophile was a great disappointment. Reading the comments, we were so excited and we left with a bill of $450 disillusioned. The meal was good, but not worth the price at all. But what can I say about the service: so bad and so not personal! I have never seen this kind of service in a fine dining restaurant. No one comes to see us to know if we like our dishes, if the wine is enough, if we have enough water. You wait 40 minutes or more between services and you dont have water or a good glass of wine. I dont understand the wine service either. Since when do we use the same glasses for different types of wine? Do they add red wine to the bottom of my white wine? Since when does a supposedly gourmet restaurant not even taste the wines before serving them? I dont know, Ive never seen that! Save your money, there are so many better options for you than Théophile, that s a promise!

My friend wanted me to try this and encourage a high-end restaurant from StBruno. At first, I was exited by the nice reviews and the decor. After 15mins, the ambiance becomes . Plates look exquisite but the flavour falls flate on some of them. Service is mediocre: no eye contact, no visits between dishes and ONE glass of water for the entire visit. Overall outrageous prices. This is no high-end restaurant but I understand it could be easier to try a mall restaurant if you dont want to struggle with the bridge, parking,... For me, Montreal is nearer and Theophile is not it.

I recommend the oysters which are very fresh and delicious and the price is great. The steak was excellent, very well cooked, the only downside was the slightly greasy fries and only one choice of dessert which was the crème brulée which was excellent. The room is very pleasant and the service from Alexandre and his teammates on duty was perfect. It was my birthday and I really enjoyed it, I will go back it was my first visit.

The restaurant is simply magnificent. The food was excellent. During my visit, they hadnt received the truffle to make the crudo, so they served it with caviar & it was simply wow. The beef carpaccio was excellent as was the octopus! Without forgetting the trout which was delicious. Excellent cocktail! The wine selection is phenomenal!! The dishes I liked least during my visit were the fonduta and the lamb shoulder. One of the only reasons for my 4 star rating was that the service was a little slow. The waitress was very professional, but a little lacking in speed. We received our drinks after 30 minutes. Made a reservation and was unfortunately stuck next to the bathroom. We ordered everything one shot, only to finish our oysters and then wait 30 mins for the rest of our food/main meals the table behind us of 3 people got their food before us. Honestly shocking, as if they forgot to enter our order. Service was mediocre. Didnt come once to ask how we were doing, and we stayed with empty plates on the table for at least 15 mins. Super disappointing overall. The only highlight was the freshness of the oysters.

For a wine bar the choices are very limited and very very ordinary by the glass...No renowned Quebec wine apart from the Chardonnay from the Camy vineyard (not offered by the glass)... I tried several restaurants including Damas, Jérôme Ferrer, Okeya etc No joke this restaurant offers the same quality of food (without the 12 service.) The menu changes regularly which keeps the restaurant fresh for the regulars. Ive been here 3 times now and each time the execution was very good.

Mixed experience. There are good dishes, like octopus, carpaccio or pasta. The choice of wines by the glass is very limited for a wine bar. A menu that pushes white wine pairings apart from steak. A wine list leaves a little to our appetite. All in all, a good experience.

The atmosphere is okay, the music is a little too pop, the high ceilings give an empty effect, less warm, so dont expect a wine bar in a small neighborhood of Montreal, it feels South Bank. The decor is magnificent, everything is well chosen. The Service was amazing!!!! The waitress was super attentive, friendly and knew her wine list. Wow! The food is also very good, the octopus was perfect, the vegetables superb, really great. So other than the ambiance, everything is really good about this place.

We took the tasting menu and for $80 each we had 1) oysters 2) scallop tartare, sour cream and dill oil 3) candied tomatoes and whipped ricotta 4) asparagus with Louis dor 5) grilled octopus and pistachio cream 6) Sea bass fish and artichokes 7) homemade lobster pasta 8) 2 desserts!! Plus, the service was perfect!

From the service to the balance of the dishes and the impressive wine list, everything was excellent at Theophile. The terrace and the decor are a bonus but it is the frankness and authenticity of the cooks and the service team that gives the place its charm. Fine Dining quality without the fluff, precise and original flavors and love in each dish.

We had the tasting menu for 2 as well as the wine pairings for 1 person (be careful, thats a lot of wine for one person!) The food and service was excellent!

We took the carte blanche menu. We expected to have an experience more than what was offered on the menu. Many of the dishes served to us were on the basic menu, which made the experience less unique. I had heard a lot of good reviews that I had a certain expectation, so I am a little disappointed with the search for flavor in some dishes.

Honestly, this is the first time in my life that I have left a Google review but it was truly an experience to share with you. The service, food and atmosphere were all perfect. For $80 we had a 7-course culinary experience (without wine) and it was truly delicious. Dont trust the small online menu because there is much more, especially in the discovery menu. The sommelier introduced us to delicious pairings. It was the first but far from the last time at this restaurant. Well done !!

Beautiful place and the dishes we chose were delicious. The menu does not have much choice but the products used are fresh and the presentations are beautiful. The service is also very good. The only thing missing is a large canvas in the window to prevent guests from having the sun in their faces at the end of the day.

Place too much too noisy, unfortunately we cant chat with our friends, we cant hear the information from the waitress, too bad. The food is good, not extraordinary but OK. Service by a friendly, attentive young French woman, a great professional. Small clarification, this is not a wine bar but rather a restaurant offering a fine wine list. The prices are far too expensive for the quality of the dishes served, the setting, the service and the atmosphere. We pay for the bread, no appetizer, no sweets, too bad for a bill of more than 100 dollars per person. We did it, it was good but doesnt deserve these prices

An extraordinary culinary experience First time at this restaurant/wine bar. Truly magnificent experience. To begin with, the restaurant is superbly welcoming (very cuzy)! The dishes are simply sumptuous. We were treated to a menu of 6 equally delicious dishes and all accompanied by an appropriate wine for each dish. Not to mention the cocktails (impressive choice) which are also excellent! We were lucky enough to be accompanied during our meal by the sommelier Samuel who was present throughout our meal and who was quite simply a super friendly host with a knowledge of wines and various alcohols that was simply incredible. WOW, just wow. I rarely write reviews for restaurants but I had to for Theophile! The food was insane and full of flavor (make sure to get the petoncles), the service was world-class (merci, Martin!), and the ambiance was perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be going back!!

Very nice place. The dishes are good and well presented. The atmosphere is pleasant and the cocktails original. The staff is smiling and friendly. My only downside was the dessert menu which seemed more limited to me, but our server, Martin, did an incredible job of making it enjoyable. Truly a new and excellent restaurant on the south shore.

Excellent atmosphere and well located, view of the fruit and vegetable stand vs. the parking lot like other restaurants Nice selection of wines. Menu generally well executed, with the exception of the trout dish for which the tomato overtook the taste of the rest of the dish, the dashi was nevertheless good.

Excellent food and service! The beef carpaciao as a starter was just WOW! Even if you only go there for that, you wont be disappointed!

At lunchtime we ate on the terrace. The interior of the restaurant is really beautiful, very modern. The lunch menu had three choices of starters and three choices of main courses. I had the leek vinaigrette and the guinea fowl pasta as a main course. My friend chose the scallop and squash risotto. It was really excellent all round. The only dessert offered was a strawberry sorbet for $6. Lots of beautiful wines by the glass. The only downside is the price. For the lunch menu for $28-32 it s a little expensive. On the other hand, the quality is there. Special mention for the mouthwash and dental floss offered to everyone in the toilet. A nice attention

We went on November 6 and loved our experience! The drinks were excellent, the service #1, and the food delicious. The only downside (if there is one) is that it is rather noisy, so not the place for a romantic dinner. We will definitely return!
