On Thursday December 5, we stopped at Jack Astor s for a late lunch after a crappy and disappointing morning. My sister in law and I were travelling with my 87 year old father, who has physical challenges (uses a walker) and moves at a slower pace than most. From the moment we entered the restaurant we had exceptional service and food. When my father headed in the men s room, he was having a difficult time trying to hold the swing door open while proceeding into the restroom. I attempted to assist but was concerned that I would actually have to go into the men s room to be any real help. At that time, Sukh (cook), who saw my struggle, came over and opened the door wide enough to allow my dad in without concern. Not only did he help to get dad into the restroom, but when he noticed that I was keeping an eye on the restroom door to ensure that I could help dad out when necessary; Sukh took the initiative to go into the restroom to check on my dad. When he came out, he gave me a thumbs up to reassure me that he was ok. A few minutes later when dad was coming out of the restroom, Sukh went back and assisted him with the door once again. I cannot even describe how much Sukh s initiative, compassion and actions meant to all of us. After the crappy day, it was so refreshing and uplifting to see this gentleman give of himself to help. He treated my dad with care and understanding even though he moved slowly. We were served by Moira, who was attentive and efficient. Our meal was delicious, so, Sukh for the win again. Lol When we were done with our meal, I asked to speak with the manager. That is when I met, Cassandra. I wanted to share with her how much Sukh s actions meant to us. As well as the overall service. Cassandra had actually observed one of the times that Sukh had helped and told him how much he was appreciated. That is a sign of good management to see those actions and provide positive feedback. Until we spoke, Cassandra had no idea how much his actions meant to me and the gratitude that I had for him. She spoke highly of all the staff, and promised that she would convey my sentiments and thanks to Sukh and Moira. I strongly believe that if you would complain to management about poor service or food, that you should ensure you share praise and kudos for exceptional service and food. Our late lunch at Jack Astor s St. Catharines had enough of an impact to change the mood of the day. It was nice to reaffirm that there are genuine people that are willing to help. A job well done on all levels, by everyone we met. We will definitely be back.

My son and I went to Jack Astors in St. Catharines last night. Our server Moira was very pleasant and attentive. We started off with beef nachos which were very good. My son had 2 pounds of wings with fries and I,unfortunately for me, ordered the salmon bowl. I did get the miso glaze on the side, not on the salmon. The entire dish was barely warm. The jasmine rice was dry and clumpy but the salmon was so well done and dry that I couldnt actually tell if the bottom of the fish had skin on it or it was tough from overcooking. Turns out it was the latter. Cold cauliflower accompanied it with a browning piece of avocado and a wilted pile of arugula. Only good thing was the fresh tomatoes. Moira did quality check us with how is everything but I hadnt started to eat yet because it looked so dry. This item should be removed from your menu unless its cooked properly. Almost $30 for a below par meal is unacceptable.

Cant give a proper review since we didnt eat there. We waited to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant at about 5pm. Several staff made eye contact with us but none acknowledged or helped us. Waited over 5 min and decided it didnt bode well and left

Had an amazing experience at Jacks St Catharines! Our server Mel was so sweet and efficient, so kind and helpful especially my allergy! Bryn the supervisor was running around doing such a good job of taking care of everyone including me and my friend! Would highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: Had great communication with kitchen about allergy (tree nut and sesame) were honest when something wasn t safe and provided me with alternate options.

Had reservations for our office christmas party. When the reservations were made we were not told that there is a time limit. We were thoroughly enjoying ourselves until we got rudely rushed out the door by the larger lady with the white chef jacket, Im sorry for the description, but I didnt get her name. Way to guilt trip paying customers when clearly your staff doesnt know how to properly take a reservation.

After waiting 30 mins for our table (reservation ahead of us wouldnt leave and sat longer out of spite) we were finally sat. The manager and the wait staff were absolutely lovely in the beginning to help my large party be accommodated. We were offered free appys for the wait and the trouble, it was very appreciated (nachos were delicious, spinach dip was like cool pesto in a big bowl that was not appetizing at all). When our meals came, I was very disappointed as I have eaten her many times before without complaint. I ordered the steak as did my husband ($45 each), the vegetables werent cooked (crunchy), the fries were barely warm, and my steak, while cooked to perfection! was cold and the sauce barely warm. I asked for more sauce that was hot to help me eat it, and the sauce that came was barely warm. The manager was very kind in listening to my concerns, I could not eat it, I brought just the steak home in hope to heat it without overcooking, sides I left to throw out. In fact, all the meals at the table were barely warm and lacked much flavour. My husbands steak was cooked mid to mid well when asked for mid rare and tasted mostly of char, and also undercooked vegetables. All the food served was below average to poor. The manager offered to provide additional discount for the bill for the two bad steaks, but she was no where to be found when the server came with the bill 30 mins later. There was no discount. Normally I wouldnt have been so bothered, but I paid 169 (that includes an automatic $25 gratuity for larger party which I had no problem with) for two very sub par meals, one that I couldnt eat and the manager had offered the discount. I may go back again, but not in a big group and definitely be more careful with my menu options, simple food only. Overall, happy with our servers, luke warm with the manager after she ghosted and saddened by the food.

We just had excellent service from Bryn! He suggested which item he d go with when we were contemplating two different apps, and he was right, the bruschetta was delicious! And so was the chicken pad Thai bowl. He knew the menu, jacked up my drink lol, ensured we were out in good time and checked on us throughout as we were in-between ringette games. We loved the Christmas decorations also! We ll be back!

Never once had anything but exceptional service at this location. We come here often and have always been pleased with everything. Tonight we had Bryn as our sever. He made the dinner more enjoyable. Always made sure we had everything we needed. Consistent with checking in and quick with bringing our food and drinks. He was friendly and easy going. The atmosphere is great, music is just right where you dont hear people at other tables but still here everything going on at yours. The Christmas decorations made me feel like I was in a Christmas movie- decorations everywhere you looked- it was amazing. 5 stars. Everytime we visit.

The St Catharines restaurant was so cozy and beautiful from all the Christmas decor. We loved being at out Jack s. Madi was super friendly and efficient. Today I ordered a chicken club sandwich, roughly 22 dollars plus tax and tip, for a piece of chicken that was about 1/8 to a 1/4 inch thick. Should be name lettuce tomato bacon with chicken skin sandwich. 100% disappointed the price point does not match the offering. Honestly just sad I wasted my time going out for dinner here. At least the beer was cold and the bartender is cool.

Jack s St Catharines has been our go to since we met our favourite server Elyssa 8 years ago! She always goes out of her way to ensure we are well taken care of and to check in on our experience and life! We highly recommend it for the atmosphere, food and service!

Hadnt been to Jack Astors since before covid. Food was not as good as I remembered it being before. The drinks were great, food came out fast. The gluten-free bun was excellent. Their hot sauce is very good but they dont give you much ( I understand not wanting bottles stolen but honestly there was at best 2tsp that came out of the bottle). The music was good but very loud. Good lighting but not too bright. Lots of tvs playing different sports. Waitstaff was polite and quick. The burger meat was 2 small skinny patties burnt, dry, and so hot that they felt like they were microwaved and only 2 small strips of bacon and a few thin hot pepper slices. Because I couldnt have gluten no other toppings were safe to have on the Holy Smoke BBQ Burger, I was not told this or had substitutions offered. There was so little sauce that i had to add ketchup from my fries to combat the dryness. The fries were old and had definitely been sitting for a while. My fiancé got the tacos, they were ok but the meat on them also was not great, his fries were stale as well. We were both sick afterwards, I had terrible heartburn and nausea and he was stuck in the bathroom for ages. Not worth the $90 we spent.

Went in for dinner on a Tuesday night. They were advertising a Taylor Swift Trivia night, the goal share my immense knowledge of Taylor and get ice dog tickets! When we arrived the hostess Kaitlyn met us with an adware winning smile. Very pleasant. Krista P would end up being our server. She was very personable and bubbly. She rang in my order and modifications with little to no difficulty, and she was quick and efficient with our drinks. Another server from another section also helped refill my bottomless ice tea. What a team effort :) We were checked on by the manager half way through our meal, this is a very nice touch in case there was anything wrong with our food, or experience. He was very nice and accommodating. Everyone was pleasant and eager to help. It felt like walking in to a family party where everyone was so happy to see you. Taylor Swift trivia was a hit! I won! Thank you Jack Astors we will be back!

This review isnt about the food, drinks, or the chain itself its about an experience I had that left me genuinely shocked and compelled to speak up. I don t typically leave reviews, but I felt this situation warranted it. Recently, I ve been calling around to inquire about server positions at local businesses. With times being tough for many, I really appreciate any business willing to have a conversation, even if they re not currently hiring. Yesterday, I reached out to Jack Astor s to ask if they were hiring servers. A woman answered the phone and responded, I m not sure why you re calling. You don t call about things like this it sounds dumb. You should just show your face instead, and then proceeded to hang up on me. While I understand that showing up in person with a resume is ideal, I think it s important to consider that not everyone has the time, gas, or money to drive 25 minutes just to find out they aren t hiring. If she had simply said, Yes, we re hiring, I would have gladly made the trip. Its disappointing to be dismissed in such a manner when all I was seeking was information.

Jack Astor s is our weekend go to restaurant. The food is consistently great. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly. Elissa is an exceptional server! She is so friendly and attentive, making sure we have not only a great meal but also a great overall experience. We look forward to our Saturday dinner!
