Excellent experience. Burger was terrific. Desserts excellent. Great cocktails too. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much.

First and last time there. Took 45 mins to get drinks. Way overpriced. $16-18 for a single drink. $12 for a bottle of local beer. Burger was bland . Server was not knowledgeable, and very slow. Highly disappointed for a date night. Knew we should ve gone to Exile

Their mac&cheese is the most delicious thing you will ever have in your life & I highly recommend getting a side of their homemade ketchup to go with it;-) Their cocktail menu is always so yummy and inside the restaurant is so sexy, the colour scheme or reds&blues makes for a very intimate vibe or a fun lil spot to get dressed up&go out with your friends! I will always tell people to go here

Great spot to eat and drink

The food and drinks are top notch always, but the service is among the worst in the city. Wait staff are 45-60 mins between check ins.

Food was different and delicious service was best kind. Was a little louder than I like but other wise fantastic.

Fantastic cocktail menu. The food menu didnt blow my mind while reading it but was very good. Service seemed a bit disorganized. Im old and find that a bit these days so it might be a generational thing.

Dinner was okay-ish. Concerning the tartare, sauces really overpowered the tuna flavour. The main courses lacked a bit of originality to them. Maybe we missed out on the best menu days. Also, the waitress would stop just at the right moment in the middle of a conversation to ask if everything was good. This happened THREE times. I know that were in NA but if we needed anything, we would have called you. It makes things bitter to be interrupted as such.

Enjoyed the Piggyback burger (and white bean salad to keep it super healthy!).

Good atmosphere. Small, but adequate menu. Great cocktails. Pleasant night out. Parking: Street parking downtown is always hit and miss in the evenings.

Such a cozy spot, we love the drinks, bar tenders are definitely pros, staff are really friendly and make the night enjoyable. Food is also phenomenal!! Always great time in No.4

I had the steak frites found it overly salty. I was still drinking water on the next day. Now the steak was cooked well, pickled cabbage and onions were decent. My wife had the No 4 burger with No 4 fries. She found it very peppery and the burger to bun ratio fell short. To make the best of it. We had a reservation and as we were seated we were reminded that they had another reservation right after us and not to linger. That gave us less than an hour. Overall for our date night was ruined. Very disappointing. Save yourself the headache.

Great choice of cocktails! The dish of mussels with white wine, sour cream and bacon was original and perfectly cooked. The tuna tataki was a little too salty though! Efficient service!

This is my second time at this restaurant in a short span. Amazing (seriously amazing!) food and such a great cocktail menu. Very unique spot! Highly recommended.

This was the rudest interaction i had in my week of being in St Johns. No host was there when we walked in. We waited for a few minutes and then my partner walked in to ask about a table. A girl with two thigh tattoos (i have tattoos I m including that in case management wants to address the issue) said that they were reservations only for the rest of the night and we could try again later if we wanted. The statement itself is fine but she said it so rudely that all of us commented on it (we weren t interested in waiting at that point). The vibe was way less cool than i had thought from 4.8 reviews and the posted photos. Didn t eat here but wouldn t recommend based on the service and atmosphere.

Food was delicious, mussels and mac and cheese, good sized portion too. The service was great and the drinks were also fabulous, theres a decent sized cocktail menu withots of options.

Looks like nothing from the outside, but huge inside with a second floor and a comfortable, covered outdoor patio on the side of the building. Cocktails definitely steal the show here - Rolling Fog was especially nice. Loved their two sides (No 4 fries and Ear Your Veggies!) as well as their tuna tacos. Service was friendly, prompt and professional. Thank you!

The food just wasn t very good. The burger in particular really needs help. The Mac and cheese is okay but nothing special. The carbonera was the best thing we got. No real complaints about it. Very nice servers and lovely atmosphere.

Decided I would try for first time. My name and # was put down on the wait list for a half hr for a table. Went for a walk to burn some time, hr goes by no phone call. Goes back to the restaurant to be told there is no room for us and not even a courtesy call.

Awesome atmosphere, drinks were fabulous. The BEST and I mean best Cheese Board I have ever had. The Veggie pizza I had was phenomenal and my fiances Steak Frites was amazing. Big portions. Friendly service. You have to go!

Cocktails were really good. Cool atmosphere. But the food was disappointing. Maybe an off night for the kitchen, I dont know, but the number 4 burger, that seems to get good reviews here, was simply not good. The pattie was was overcooked and dry, the bun a bit chewy, and the lettuce, tomato, and pickles were dripping wet and eventually made the bun soggy and a pool of liquid on my plate. The corn salad was tasty but we had to pick out some of the sprouts thay still had dirt and roots attached to them. Fries, were ok but I should not be walking out of a restaurant having paid as much as that, and only able to compliment the fries and cocktails.

That s mac n cheese for $22. Not worthy. No sides or anything. No chicken main or even side on the menu. Service is good, probably the only good thing. Food was mediocre.

Last night I had the most incredible experience at No.4 the food was to die for. Service was a 10/10. Cocktails were a 10/10. I ve been a few times previous always a good experience but this was a game changer. One of the best restaurants downtown St. John s.

First visit tonight. Beautiful restaurant. Atmosphere was terrific. Service was terrific. Drinks were terrific. Food was outstanding. Tuna appetizer was A+. Steak frites was seasoned perfectly. Wife ordered medium well. I ordered medium rare. Lots of times and places both come out the same. Not the case. To date and places we have visited, best steak in St. Johns.

The atmosphere felt very comfortable and the overall vibe was enjoyable. The service was amazing, the servers definitely sounded very knowledgeable. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars was that I did feel my food was a tiny bit too salty. Otherwise, great place for grub and drinks.

Good first impression; Danny was super friendly and made us a couple of excellent drinks! Second experience left a lot to be desired though. The hours online say they re open until 3:00, but when we showed up at about 12:45 more than two hours before close a tall man with dark hair behind the bar rudely told us they were closed for the night, that they d pour us a beer but we d have to pay in cash as they d closed the debit. I asked about the hours online and he said they were indeed correct but that they change without notice and on a day-to-day basis it seems. He said that phoning ahead of time would be a good idea next time but we phoned ahead twice tonight and got no answer both times, just a recording that said they were open until very late . Danny s exceptional service the first time may cause me to come back again, but, needless to say, if treated as rudely the third time as I was this time, there will be no fourth time. As a customer, I find it very perplexing that businesses find it acceptable to arbitrarily close two hours early, treat paying customers with a complete lack of respect, and then expect them to come back again. Update: The third, fourth, etc. times have been much better than the second, and the hours online have been updated.

The cocktails, food, and atmosphere are definitely a 5/5! I really hope the place can expand in future to allow more seating, its really busy on weekends. However, Ive had a couple experiences here with mediocre customer service, which is disappointing considering cost and potential. Still giving a 5/5 because this seems to be a common issue everywhere since the pandemic.

Amazing plating, atmosphere, staff, and cocktails! Whats not to love AND a beautiful euro looking patio. Sitting on the patio we enjoyed a moijto to start. Along with a boat full of appetizers... Tuna tartare/cheese board/both flavours of mussles/and the scallop crudo. Tuna: paried with fresh sourdough and arugula garnished with beautiful editable flowers. Cheese board: plentiful and sharable. A chef if not busy will come and name all of your cheeses on the plate. Steamed mussles: subdivision; Corn with bacon - The bacon was fatty and crisp which contrasted the amazingly seasoned mussles themselves. Corn added the sweetness to the savory. Kalbi - sweet brown sugar did these mussles a cloud 9. WHOA the flavour the saltiness was above and behind what I was hoping for. Heavily garnished with fresh herbs to round out the bowl of broth and mussles. 11/10 Finally Scallop Crude: What a delicate dish. Clean, simple and beautiful. I would get this everyday if I could. Theres nothing more then raw fresh scallops with an amazing oil honey and chillies. All the ingredients speak for themselves on this plate. Please try it. Also I asked for a recommendation for my second cocktail from a beloved bartender Tristan. The Nude Beach perfectly balanced and decadent colour. Please enjoy slowly and remember to tip your money is going to some amazing humble passionate people.

I was really looking forward to eating here until the food came. To be fair waitress was excellent booth was cramped but clean. Ordered mac and cheese x2 and burgers x2 and again Im sorry but it was horrible .When your charging 29 bucks for mac and cheese can it not taste good and be HOT. Burgers were very salty poorly done. Need to change the name from no.4 to no 2 no longer a fan

Cool vibe, good music, good cocktails. Food is quite expensive, I wouldn t recommend the steak frites (steak was tough, tasteless and overcooked). Gnocchi was good but expensive.

What an amazing experience!! Food people atmosphere. Always a place to hit up when home for vacation.

The food was pretty good, the environment was neat, and the server was pleasent. I did feel like we were being rushed. We had dinner reservations, so we were late. Ordered drinks as soon as the server came over, when the drinks came we were pressured to order, as the dinner kitchen closes soon. As we were starting the meal, we were asked about dessert, as that was ending soon. Everything was good, but we felt unwelcome.

Edit: I returned after this incident and the cocktails are well made and the staff friendly, the atmosphere and decor is also very nice. I would love to leave a review on the quality of the food and drink or the service of their staff. This unfortunately isnt possible given that we were denied service because the staff took it upon themselves to close the bar 2 hours earlier than the published closing time, which they confirmed was correct. Essentially, the only service I can attest to was the waiter disrespectfully telling us that the bar was closed and that we should have phoned, this was despite phoning twice and receiving no response. I firmly believe that if you advertise a set schedule you should stick to that schedule.

Had outstanding service from friendly (and hilarious!) staff members. Drinks were tasty and gorgeous, the food was both creative and delicious, and overall the portion sizes were excellent. Finally, the dessert of the day (cheesecake dip!) was inventive and delectable. The atmosphere was very trendy with a touch of vintage and, simply put, really cool! I wont hesitate to go back!

This was our first time, we will definitely be back. Cocktails were well made, tasty, all around excellent. The tartare was lovely as a starter. The sauce for the spaghetti and meatballs is very good, the small is deceptive, its still a solid portion size. The burger was an experience, perfectly cooked and stacked with bacon, cheese and fresh lettuce and tomato. The fries were good, but seemed to be the one thing in the whole experience that was lacking, I think a thinner cut fry would fix that. The cheesecake dip was super tasty, anytime fresh strawberry and raspberry comes together with caramel is a win. The ice cream cake was also quite good, unsweetened whip cream balanced the sweetness of the plate super well. You couldnt ask for a better front of house staff. The host was very pleasant and our server was incredible, attentive, hilarious and genuinely interested in us enjoying our experience. The bar staff looked happy doing their thing and the atmosphere is perfect for watching their craft. There was nothing wrongwith the music, it just seemed a little out of place for the environment, and maybe a touch loud. Over all, we will definitely be back. It seems like a great place for two to slip away for dinner or for the team to unwind after a long day. Theres always little things, but this place is great.

Had dinner at No.4 Friday evening at 730. Lots of choice of drinks and beverages. Had the mussels for appetizer and had the Ribeye Steak for supper. It was an absolute delightful meal. Each and every bite of food was an explosive sensation of flavour on my tastebuds. Highly recommended :)

Excellent staff and beautiful food made this place a solid hit in St Johns, but its cocktails that really give it the edge. Best place in the city to have something strong and mixed to satisfy your needs.

Great new restaurant! Food is delicious, cocktail game is strong and the service beats no other! We were so impressed with our first visit. When you try a new restaurant so early you expect things to go wrong and they couldn t have pulled off a more flawless night! This is the spot to go if you want a yummy meal with the perfect pairing wine or cocktail! Staff were so knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make for an awesome night out! Our waiter was a very educated sommelier and picked out the perfect wine. The bartender even came over to our table to help select the perfect cocktails! You must try! Great atmosphere as well!

Truly amazing food AND service! Wine list and cocktail menus were very intriguing. Our server Scott,was able to provide excellent insight as to both food and drink choices. He was even concerned about the temperature of the room! His attention to every detail of our experience was amazing. Now, the food...truly exceptional! Cod fritters, scallops with polenta,, cod, steak, the veggies were all amazing. Can t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. A wonderful addition to the St. John s food opportunities ! No. 4 on Cathedral street in St. Johns has truly raised the bar for casual fine dining in a very big way. The space itself is nothing short of captivating; boasting an elegantly designed open concept with the restaurants bar taking center stage. The service is prompt and professional without feeling exaggerated or stuffy; the people who work here do a superb job at making you feel welcome and valued as a guest. The food is fantastic, offering a grand selection of meticulously crafted appetizers, deserts, and main courses (I highly recommend the scallops). For me personally, the cocktails served here is what will always keep me coming back. Supported by a dedicated selection of some of the most talented bartenders in the city, No. 4 easily hosts one of the largest selections of signature cocktails and spirits I have ever seen locally. While this establishment is by no means very far out the gates, having only opened their doors to the public a little over a month or so ago, I have no doubts in my mind that No. 4 will soon be recognized as on of the best places to visit for a night out in the city; as it should be.

First time here but it wont be the last. The service was exceptional and the layout and style was trendy yet cozy. Our waiter was a certified sommelier and also had a great knowledge on the beer selection they had. The place was full yet you could have a conversation without having to strain to hear. Once again, I cant stress how great the service was.

The food at this new restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Tasty and original. The photos are of the scallops and the duck leg. Unfortunately we booked for 8.45 and were seated at 9.15. Not good.

Grabbed a meal with friends on a busy Saturday and was not disappointed. Abby our server took good care of us and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the kimchi mussels and the gnocchi was pretty awesome, too. Great spot!

This was a very pleasant restaurant. The service was very very good. The food was excellent. I highly recommend anything seafood on the menu. I had the mussels and my companion had the scallops. Both of us had the no. 4 burger. It was a huge burger on a pretzel bun. For dessert, we had the candy apple funnel cake. The green apple sorbet on the dessert was awesome. I highly recommend going here. The prices were fairly reasonable.

Apps were pretty good, $4 glass of beer is a good deal, but no real local beer yet.

Absolutely the best food, cocktails and staff to be found in the city. Went for the bartender competition and had a great time. Competition was entertaining, the cocktails were first class and the horderves were delicious and artfully presented.

Very cool atmosphere. The downstairs seemed a bit quieter than the upstairs. The cocktails had a large selection of whiskey based drinks. The seafood chowder must be the best in the city. Massive chunks of lobster and scallops. mussels and marinated potato slivers. Cream, chives and dill - simple but perfect. The salads were amazing too. So fresh. Mint and ...Sorel, maybe? Very zesty. They had the advantage that greens and lobster and in season right now but they sure knew what to do with them.

Was disappointed. Called ahead to make sure that the food I wanted was Gluten Free. Was told on the phone that it was. But got there and was told it had gluten. What I was able to have was good. The server was very sweet and helpful, ensuring that the everything I did get was Gluten Free and onion free.

Great cocktails!

Excellent place the atmosphere is comfortable with some tables very open and others nicely secluded. Food was great for casual dates and the servers really know what to recommend to people rather than just what is more expensive on the menu. Honestly the best part was the mocktales(non alcoholic cocktails) actually tasted like a real cocktail rather than just the fruit juice you add to alcohol.

Some of THE best cocktails I have ever had, and I have had my fair share of cocktails. Did not have a chance to try the food, but if its as good as their Old Fashioned, then the food will be out of this world.
