Not sure why everyone's hating on this place. I'm a Torontonian and I've been in newfoundland for a week and this hit the spot. There was a wide variety of dishes and they all tastes very good.
The food is the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my entire life. The service I try to talk to the lady twice and when I had a complaint I got hung up on twice the atmosphere. I don't know. I wasn't there. It is horrible there. Chow mein is all liquid like a soup The chicken is a soggy mess. They're chicken Balls are hard. I am extremely worried about getting food poisoning. I've never had food this bad. They put the sauce on top of the chicken balls. Made them nice and soggy. The only thing that's okay is the broccoli, but even then a pool of sauce. The beef is the lowest grade I've ever had. We ordered from Uber eats. The driver was absolutely amazing. Got here on time. He was sweet, the restaurant and the employee that I talked to not good at all. I went to hundreds of Chinese restaurants from the states to Ontario from Nova Scotia to other parts of Newfoundland and New Brunswick and this is the worst one I ever had. It cost just under $80 with delivery and taxes and all By the way, we did the build your own combo. And there's nowhere to post the pictures I saved
It was very dark and gloomy in there. the food was quick and very good! But it was more of a takeout spot! We didn't really have ssrvice. Nobody checked on us.
Very bad dishes. They are not using good meat and not clean. My friends and I also feel not good after eating the beef and chicken there.

We ordered take out for four people. The order was prepared quickly. The food was fresh and not over cooked. It wasn’t too salty. Very nice to see that the packaging is eco friendly, but sturdy which made the take out option easy to manage and less of a guilty pleasure. Would definitely eat here again.
Good Canadian Chinese food, the usual assortment of combos that, last time I ordered, included broccoli not boiled to mush! The quality has varied over the years, depending on owner/management, but it currently ranks as at least "competent" as of May 2024. Nothing exciting, but nothing disappointing either!?
Their buffet was so good but If you want to get the real chinese flavour you should try the separate items from the menu.

Horrible experience... Ordered meal and chicken was not cooked which ruined the entire meal... And the raw chicken was in with the rest of the meal.... Paid almost $80 for the meal and they would not do anything... Offered $19 credit and took the other$60 for themselves .. Never again Disgusting food and service! 0 Stars

I havent eaten in at the New Moon since way before the Pandemic, have ordered takeout for delivery several times and it was always piping hot, fresh and good portions. My Mom and our family have eaten here many times over the years, back when Sophie, Marilyn and Judy were servers. Marilyn has since retired, Judy is still here and as friendly as always and Sophie is now the owner! When my Mom and I walked in today we got a very warm welcome from Sophie and Judy. Sophie has made some changes since taking ownership, the decor has been updated and refreshed. The washrooms and dining room are very clean. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was amazing, including the young man who also served us Shou. So nice to receive such a warm welcome, they may not know our names but certainly remembered our faces. It was lovely. We will be eating in more often! Ivy and Vickie Ivany
New Moon deserves 5 stars. Their authentic Chinese menu is unbelievable. Its the only recommendation in NL from my Chinese friends, and my favourite restaurant in the city.
Food was hot and plentiful, we both ordered the #8 combo + an order of won tons. The won ton appetizer will suffice for at least 3 if not 4 people. We left full :) Great service and well priced!!
We ordered three meals yesterday and not one of the chicken balls were cooked. Adding to that, the Skip The Dish person could care less and decided to leave the bag in a path on the other side of the house. Ordering from these two businesses is the perfect way to burn money. Avoid.
Ordered a few meals from the traditional Chinese menu to share with rice. Pleasantly pleased, very flavourful. Would go back to try more off menu.

Its not bad its not anything that stands out. Its pretty decent but I often see a lot of people dining in there so it must be something about it. The dining room looks pretty nice.
One of the only truly authentic Chinese restaurants in town! Absolutely amazing food, quick and friendly service, and a good price!! I will always recommend this place!
The traditional Chinese menu is filled with a variety of dishes which are all immaculate. One of the best meals you can have in the city hands down! I recommend this restaurant in conversation any time I can. Service is always very friendly and fast

Disappointed. More expensive than other places, yet not as tasty. Lemon chicken, while good chicken meat and batter, was really lacking in lemon flavour. Sweet and Sour chicken, again, good chicken and batter, but the sauce was bland. Chicken fried rice was fine, fairly dry, contained some chicken, but no green onion or any vegetable component in the rice which seems pretty standard elsewhere. Beef and broccoli was watery, salty, and lacking flavour as well. No other vegetables in this dish either, typically there are onions and other items in the dish elsewhere. Crispy wontons were okay, but not having a decent sweet and sour sauce for dipping didnt help. Gets two stars because staff was friendly, and overall it was edible, just not enjoyable. Also: I cannot confirm that there was, but I believe there must have been some kind of cross contamination with shrimp in our order.. I have a mild allergy to them and my usual symptoms from shrimp exposure have been kicking up ever since we ate this evening.
the food was tasty but the portion sizes were sad. paid 40 bucks to take out for 2 people and both of us were still hungry afterwards.

I just ordered 80 dollars worth of food and I can it wasnt good everything tasted the same deep fried food taste like fish so they must use the same oil and egg rolls wernt cooked threw wasnt good tasted like it was left over from night before I will not be eating there agian.

New Moon has been around for over 20 years. The buffet has always been a good value, with fresh tasty food. They offer take-out if you wish to eat at home.
We spent $65 on food with delivery when it got here the so called hunny garlic spare ribs tasted like the rice and the rice tasted like the chicken balls. IT ALL TASTED THE SAME!!!!!!!! The cherry sauce was a tad bit sweet but IT DIDNT TASTE LIKE CHERRIES AT ALL. THEN TO MAKE IT WORSE I gave the driver $100 and he wasnt going to give me my change. The chowmein was piping hot while the ribs, chicken balls, rice and egg rolls was Luke warm. Id never eat there again.

Ive been going to this restaurant since it opened and today was the LAST time I will ever go there. The only thing worse this evening than the exhausted buffet items, was the attitude of the waitress. Extremely disappointing.

I just ate here and can honestly say it was the worst service Ive had at a chinese restaurant and the food was even worse. We waited an extremly long time to even be served (no apology for that) then waited forever to get our food even though we were the only ones in the resturant other then people who had already had their food and were leaving. The bell rang with our food and they did not go to get it when it did. It was cold and I was so mad I paid for my food before it even came out. 30 dollars I will never get back :( This is the first time ive ever done a review for a restaurant. But I was so upset I had no other choice. Seriously people, go anywhere else in town for chinese food.
If you dont mind eating a choice of six dishes thatve been left out for a minimum of two hours each, then youre in luck! Avoid if youve had intestinal issues ever.

This is my first time writing a review for a restaurant but I m sorry I have to for this one. Not great! The meats tasted like they were left over from another meal and deep fried a second time. All the deep fried dishes tastes of fish, they must use the same oil to cook everything. All the vegetable dishes tasted the same . The desserts were all good except for the snowballs which tasted like the coconut was a hundred years old, not kidding.The only good thing about this restaurant was our server. I wouldn t recommend this restaurant to anyone! I left here feeling like I had thrown $45 in the garbage. Pardon the pun but I left there with a sour taste in my mouth.

The worst buffet ive ever had. Food was cold and hard. And half of the bins were empty. Manager only agreed to wave one buffet even tho all of us together probably only ate one plate. $17.75+tax for buffet that is absolute s*it is a rip off. Do not go here.

Worst buffet EVER. My family used to love new moon when I was young it was the only Chinese food we ate. But sadly it is not even close to what it once was. Went there for a birthday ordered 4 buffets and the food was not even CLOSE to acceptable. Half the bins were empty and the ones that were there was hard as a rock. We informed the waiter that there wasn t even CHICKEN BALLS they said they would refill but the people who ordered from the menu were almost done there food before it was refilled! When we informed the waiter that we would NOT be paying for the buffets (because literally no one ate a thing) they excuse was that they were sorry as it s hard when they aren t busy to continue refilling the bins because it s wasteful and that they would only offer ONE free buffet. For one, I don t care how dead you are if your serving buffet the food has to be EDIBLE, we are paying customers!! Not acceptable what so ever and we will NEVER be returning.

delivery was quick and service was friendly but the food was not good at all.
The food and service used to be OK but now when we go there, we seen the staff go over and give us our food which was in the buffet warming bin for the last couple of hours. The food was disgusting and staff were rude. I DO not recommend going to this place as it is disgusting

Very tasty meal of Canadian style Chinese food. Love that Wonton Soup! Generous serving sizes in their Dinner for Two, so youll go home with leftovers.
I was really supprise that the owners would take about 3/4 of the tips that the staff would receive,they must think that they are back in china. Will not be eating there again, when i know that they are un unfair to there staff. I will give you 1 star.
Delivery was 15 minutes early, driver was friendly and the food was great. Tad expensive as 2 combos and 2 bottles of pop came to $45 (The JustEat app is horrible). They delivered pretty far too.
If you put a price on a sign, you are legally obligated to honour that price no matter what the fine print says. It wasnt so much the price, or the mediocre food, the chicken was re-re-fried leftovers, it was the waitresses snarky attitude thats put me off for good.
Paisley have a buffet but I find the food it stays there a long time and it doesnt taste very good
