After being away from home for 4 years I can really see the decline at this resturant. Veggies were not fresh, dirty dishes left on other tables for long periods of time and the price is outrageous. Very disappointing to see.
Excellent food great price. Staff are great and very friendly. Highly recommend
Place was clean and cool, not a lot of dirt or dust around, great music, slightly dirty bathroom, great food, cooked and not raw or cold, great chef, thank you. great service, the girl there was so kind and nice. i really like this place, would definitely come again!
If I could use NEGATIVE STARS I would. This is by far the most hostile restaurant staff and cook on planet earth, I asked a question and was actually yelled at, then when I said " I did not come to this establishment to be yelled at" the restaurant staff literally threw my dishes with enough force to break them and yelled profanities at me. The experience was very alarming and I will be following up with the appropriate regulatory authorities for the resultant industry in this province. Watch out for broken glass and slander if you wish to visit this disgraceful business!
Such a dirty restaurant, there were about 20 big black flies above the open buffet and landing on the plants there. If this place was the last option for food on earth, I would rather starve.
meats were frozen and when cooked, very tough. The veggies were only a few and looked old and brown. The place could use a very very good cleaning. Not a smile from either wait staff, however they were not rude...they seemed sad I guess. A great concept but no effort put into being it is a part of the service industry, it is like they just gave up. I would not return.
We used to like this place but stopped going because we didn't feel like it was worth the cost. Went back post covid and were a bit shocked to find it was still buffet style. The veggies looked like they had been there a while and were all limp and grey. They really should re-evaluate their model and prices, the other location is better priced and isn't buffet.
Me and my girlfriend both went to red pepper for lunch we are local Newfoundlanders. As we had finished our meals we went to pay, this restaurant is an all u can eat stir fry place so taking that into account I had 3 plates and my girlfriend had two. By the time I was half way through my 3rd plate I was starting to feel full and my girlfriend was halfway through her second plate and she was starting to feel full so we sat around for about ten minutes to see if the feeling of being full would pass and try to eat the rest of our meal but we were at maximum capacity and couldn’t eat no more so we tidy the table we sat at to be cleared and went to pay. Now mind u we were the only customers in there at this time so service was quick. Until it came time to pay . As the woman who was serving us the entire time came walking towards the pay station the walked right past us and walked towards the table we had been sat at and looked at our plates and snarky said that that was to much waste and then proceeded to raise her voice when I had said excuse me you don’t say those types of things to customers. She then started yelling at me and my girlfriend how had said nothing the entire time. So I started to become upset I told said listen here let us pay wan wee will Haley effing leave then she called us rude and i became very upset and told her what she’s doing is assault then she proceeded to grab my arm. I screamed so not touch me and then the male cook came running out as if he was trying to be threatening telling me to shut up when all I was say Ming was let us pay and leave then the both said never come back here and followed us out the door and took our plate number on our Vehicle threatening us saying they were calling the police on us . Needless to say I was a traumatic event for both me and my girlfriend my girlfriend of which hardly ever eats out because of her severe anxiety. She will most likely never be able to dine out again after this disgusting experience. I will be contacting my lawyer now because this was actually such a bad experience. Im in disbelief in what I just went through at this restaurant with the owner. Highly recommend not going there unless u want to be degraded and assaulted in a public setting.
Older decor made up with service and great food would be back again
Since they changed how they operate it s not worth going anymore sadly as it was my favorite restaurant .
Great stir-fry buffet!
Ive been eating at this restaurant for over 13 years and its hands down my favorite place to eat. The staff is friendly, food is fresh, the whole concept of it is phenomenal. When they reopened after covid I went 6 days in a row. 10/10.
Always good food and service
My husband and I ate here yesterday and it was absolutely delicious! The veggies were to die for and the hostess was the cutest and sweetest. I would totally recommend giving this place a try.
Eat at hamlyn rd red pepper regularly. Food is excellent service always prompt polite and couldn t be happier with our 50+ visits. My 3 kids love it and ask for it all the time. Kid-friendliness: Excellent
Since the covid-19 restrictions its no longer worth it to eat here. What I used to eat for $18 now costs $40. The food was good but mostly because it was cheap. Its not even comparable to other restaurants in its new price range.
This restaurant is disgusting, very dated, there were boogers on the bathroom wall and where they cook the un-fresh food was very dirty, sauces dumped everywhere and baked on the grill, you could tell it was old, gross
Take out only, was supposed to open at Noon on Sunday but was closed at 12:30. Been to one in Moncton and loved it until it closed.
3 selections of frozen meat and a salad bar for $20-ish. Service was good though.
This is for the customers who do not know what happened about Mr. Evan Lawlor story. I do not want to say what U call me with the dirty words and I just want to simply explain my view: at the beginning, I already said I will not charge u guys any fees but plz dont waste food like that. And the man started to look at me and said: I do not think we are waste food, I ate three plates and left half and my girlfriend ate one left one because she can not eat... this is not waste. I was so surprised that I was not going to charge an extra fee, just simple said do not waste food, and the man started to losing control. With his action, I felt threatened, so I try to call the police and the lady stopped me and said they are sorry. That is the only reason I did not call the police. If you think I do not have the right to say DO NOT WASTE FOOD. Ok, I will apologize to you I AM SORRY! I dont have money to hire a lawyer, but I do hope U not always say dirty words to people!!!!!
horrible experience, the cook on the grill had zero personality and was rude and inconsiderate. I put my plate up on the counter in front of him and he took 3 other peoples plate that obviously came after me. He intentionally did not take my plates, even after I pointed out my plate in case he did not see it. He then took another plate and after there was no one left he put my plate on the grill. It takes probably two to three minutes to cook once on the grill, so made me wait why I have no idea. Then the meat was so overcooked you might as well eat shoe leather. Wont ever come back there. I am visiting from Manitoba and not a good impression of St. Johns hospitality.
My favorite spot to eat. Has been for 12 years.
It simple is not the restaurant that I remember from years ago. The decor is old and dated, the cutlery and dishware is worn out, and the selection is very limited. No free refills (unlimited buffet), 2 adults were $53 before tip.
I have been going here for years. The food is still great but the restaurant is not being taken care of. There was dust on everything and it looked like the floors hadnt been cleaned in years. The was an open bag of potting soil in the corner of the restaurant that looked like it had been there for a while. I would come hear much more often if they kept it clean.
Very nice place with a make your own stir-fry bar where you choose the type of meat you want and they fry it up in front of you while you choose the veggies and stuff that you want to put in it and then he fries your veggies into the stir-fry and serves it over a plate of rice. Delicious and healthy! Yum!!
Just okay food. Not over priced for all you can eat. Japanese cuisine to be exact. Its a pretty old place. Better than the other restaurant at peet street though.
This restaurant is one of the greatest restaurants that has ever existed or ever will exist. The staff have always been pleasant to deal with and the food has always been fresh and tasty. The price is slightly higher than non-buffet restaurants but, in my opinion, worth it.
Food is great and I really enjoy it. However, it is really overpriced, which is too bad because I would go there far more often then I do instead of visiting other local restaurants who have more reasonable prices. Price is the only reason I am only giving 3 Stars because I think they are over priced by at least 2 stars. $20.00 for lunch (No Tip or Beverage included) is more then the average person wants to spend on lunch. Bring that down to around $10.00 for lunch and you would get your 5 Stars.
Ive been coming here since it opened. And its my favourite place to eat at. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys tasting new foods with awesome flavours. Muchhhh better than the one on Pete Street, for sure!!!
Yummy
My favorite restaurant in St. Johns. All you can eat, and you pick everything and watch them grill it fresh.
Burned, dry food. - No refills on drinks. - $50 for 2 people. (not including tip) Complained to the wait staff about the food and they simply said to come back another time when the current cook isnt working, no refund or discount offered at all. Never going back, stay away.
Ive been going there since I was young. Never had one bad experience.
Cheap tasting food, horrible service, Dirty aged restaurant, VERY overpriced.
The selection for the buffett seemed fresh but the sauces (both I tried) tasted burnt. The worst part was after finishing my second glass of pop (no free refills) i noticed all the dryed on food particals at the top of my glass. YUK!!!! The price also could have been better, besides not having free refills it seemed a bit high.
