Went for breakfast a couple of times. Had eggs Benedict . The sauce was not even the right sauce . It was spicy. Tried it again and sausages were dried up. Never again!!!! Disgusting
If you’re looking for a place where the food is as big as your appetite and the service is as warm as your grandma’s kitchen, look no further than Rustlers. This mom-and-pop gem serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, so you can feast whenever the craving hits. Let’s start with the portions – they’re enormous. We were so stuffed after our meal that we had to roll ourselves out of there like two very happy burritos. I ordered the hot turkey with salad, and I think I might’ve accidentally eaten an entire farm. The turkey was tender, the gravy rich, and the salad was the perfect balance to all that hearty goodness. My partner opted for the Big Breakfast—three kinds of meat, eggs, potatoes, the works—and he was grinning ear-to-ear, a happy carnivore in his natural habitat. Now, let’s talk service. The staff at Rustlers could probably teach a masterclass in hospitality. Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, they made us feel like we were regulars—even though it was our first visit. It's clear they take pride in their food and know exactly how to make you feel welcome. We didn’t venture into the bar or the pool hall (after all, we were already plotting our food coma), but I’ve got a feeling they’ve got just as much flavor in there as they do on the menu. In short: Rustlers isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe pack a nap for later. Five stars for sure!
Ever waited for your food at a restaurant and see the waiter bring out a dish and you think, "I should have gotten that, it looks tasty!" Well this place is like that for every dish I seen them bring out! Food was top notch, service was great and the food came out really quick. 10/10 would recommend.
First time we’ve ever been here- had the campfire breakfast: tasted great and the portion size was very generous for the price. Loved our server Montana, she was super sweet and polite. :)
This was pretty disappointing. Without going into a ton of detail, I believe the server forgot to submit my order to the kitchen staff, so the person I was with received their food about 20 minutes before I received mine. As a result, we essentially both ate on our own. It wouldn't be that bad, but there was little transparency as to what occurred, and I got 3 separate "just 5 more minutes" check-ins from the server while not getting a single apology (service wasn't impolite, it just seemed to lack empathy / awareness). As for the food itself, it was average at best. The portions were good (and prices fair), but my pork chops were severely lacking any flavouring. The fries were just mediocre frozen fries. I did like the side of boiled turnip and carrot (not common in my area) and I was happy I ordered gravy, because it saved some of the lackluster elements on the plate. The person I was with was also not pleased with the quality of their meal (steak). I did see some burgers go out to other patrons that looked really good, so if someone was set on trying this place, I'd probably point them in that direction. Atmosphere was also lacking a little. It felt like video gambling was the primary reason people went there and the restaurant was secondary. EDIT: The meal was on Thursday, June 20 at approximately 6PM.
Had a delicious breakfast at Rustlers with my sister. We both had the Eggs Benedict and quite enjoyed the meal. The hollandaise sauce was cooked well, and the serving size was very generous. Service was excellent; we were checked in on a regular basis and had ample refills of coffee and waters. Will be back!
Girlfriend really enjoyed her steak sandwich and loaded mashed potatoes. My fish and chips was ok, fries were fine but fish was a little under cooked with batter still mushy on one peice, not a huge deal as it wasn't the whole peice. Also they forgot our scallops but we didn't get charged for them anyway and our meals had us stuffed so we didnt miss them. Well be back and ill probably try something else but my girlfriend will have the same thing.
Ate here for brunch today and had an amazing meal. I always forget to take a picture of my food until I've eaten some of it. The fishcakes were amazing. Toutans were amazing. Hashbrowns were amazing & I think you get the point. I'll definitely be back!
Best family restaurant in St. Johns
One of the best restaurants in town if you want to have a taste of Newfoundland. It also has good food youd get just about anywhere else.
Really decent food for an adorable price. Generous portions. Recommended especially for families on a budget.

Love a Sunday brunch at Rustlers. I always make sure to have a touton every visit.
I had the beef dip. REALLY good. Bread was super soft and fluffy. My only complaint was that i only got 2 ice cream sized scoops of mashed potatoes but evwrypne else ordered fries and their plates were heaped with them. I had a bite of my partners breaded chicken burger and it was honestly the best one i have ever had! Will be back to order my own! Staff was also super Friendly and helpful!
We ordered Skip the dishes and got exactly what we ordered. The Homestyle mac and cheese was a huge hit with our kids! Very flavourful and creamy.

Its pretty decent. Last time I was there the wings were kinda small and they were very skimpy on the sauce like they were giving us half a tiny plastic container of sauce. Like half an ounce or even less whatever half of those tiny containers are

Good food great place to relax in the corner booth . Watch the old ladies spend their last bit of money on the video lottery machines trying to pay for their food . Its high anticipation for the geezers I tell ya. A little bird told me that ya got to be one out of 20 to get a good feed of jiggs dinner . Or ya ordering something else. Parking: I hate that parking lot its not well laid out keep your head on a swizzle Kid-friendliness: Kids could watch granny get broke from gambling. Went here once they actually charged extra for the condiments that go on your burger separately... mayo jor greedy business practice. Made half afraid to even ask for ketchup for my fries.... I mean extra toppings like bacon or cheese yes but condiments like mayo no... Just no..
Absolutely love Rustlers! Their all day breakfast is delicious! Went there a few weeks ago with my 2 sisters for lunch and we all had the Hot Turkey Sandwiches it was delicious and so filling that I couldnt eat anything else for the day and neither could my sisters! The staff there are always friendly and check in with you to see if you need anything else while you are eating! Hoping to go there again tonight for supper!

Still great food even in the face of COVID. I cant believe the quality of take away. They also have Skip the dishes now as well as door dash. Remember to support your local vendors first please. These people work hard for money, so hard for the money, so you better treat them right. Im old sorry !!! Ordered steak med rare came salt as the brine had a massive heartattack in Feb not what I can eat. Service was friendly the Mrs liked her burger
The food and service here is always excellent! Satisfied every time :). However after many trips here and what I noticed tonight I should mention that 99.1 hits FM is not a good choice for dining room music when most of the customers I see here are in their 40s or older. Just a heads up lol

Great family restaurant
Todays jiggs was horrible. Salt meat was terribly salty. Neither the carrots, turnip or Cabbage was cooked. The vegetables were so hard we couldnt even eat it. This place was always our go to for a great jiggs dinner but not after today.
Our order was terrible...fish batter was white....fat & grizzle from turkey was on my club sandwich...not sure what happened since the last time we had supper from Rustlers..but for me it has gone downhill

Affordable and good homestyle food
An excellent family restaurant with great service. I had a jiggs dinner which is a Nfld dish that includes boiled potato, cabbage, carrots, turnip, mashed turnip, and this restaurant included roast turkey and delicious gravy. The entire meal was delicious and the service was exceptional. Other meals our family had were hot beef sandwich and fries, blt and fries and a wrap.

Last ate here 2 or so months ago & after eating I HAD to ask if had new owners, answer No. One item we order every time here is their delicious toutons 2 for $3.99. Ordered same, but sent back, not a touton. Next order was same had same.texture & taste of a roll. Texture should be light & puffy & use to be here. Now, cost 2 for $7! Server said they now pre make them early morning & reheat when ordered. (I think dough knead too much &/or rolled too tight so cant puff as should so dont taste like close to a Nfld touton.) Looking for new all dayr eakfast place.
I really enjoy eating here the food is awesome, the place feels super comfy, and the folks working here are just the friendliest. Whether Im with my family and friends or just hanging out with my partner, its always a great time. Totally recommend giving it a shot! Oh, and the fries (sweet potato fries too of course) are the best in the city! My kids agree too.
We chose Rustlers this week for our Friday take out!I had the hot turkey with homemade bread .The vegetable was fresh carrot and the fries were homemade.Delicious! My son had the touton sandwich .We had no complaints. Great friendly server and our take out was ready on time. Will def go back to try again!

Rustlers Country Grill in St Johns Newfoundland is a fantastic place to eat. They offer not only regular food that everyone knows, but they also offer a Newfoundland cuisine. We have met travelers in this restaurant and made food recommendations to them, and they were thrilled to be eating something that was authentic to Newfoundland. And it was good quality, not something the restaurant made up. The breakfast there is fantastic. You can have it anytime of day, which is great. They also offer full course dinner menu. The food is good, the staff is very friendly, and the price is what you would expect. If you want to have a great meal while youre out shopping around, or place to go on a Friday evening, Rustlers Country Grill is a fantastic place to be.

We were super excited to try this place, as the reviews were so good. We re visiting from Alberta, and wanted to try a little family restaurant. We were essentially ignored the minute we walked in the door, it was busy so we were fine waiting, but we weren t even sure how long the wait was. After a few more minutes of waiting to be seated, one of the employees walked past us to hand an order to a driver and didn t say a word to us, not even a welcome . Definitely wont be recommending this place to anyone back home. (I cant respond to the reply, but we were there this morning, June 19.)

I have literally never been disappointed by a meal at this place. Great food and generous portions at a reasonable price. I always make sure to drop by when I am home in Newfoundland. Thank you Connie for a wonderful visit, and my compliments to the back staff as well.

Great breakfast
It was one of the worst meals i had i had stuffed chicken breast it was like rubber. It started off with a dirty table , when the meal came i had to ask for a fork to even eat it. As i tried to eat this meal for 18 dollars it was dried up and very rubbery. I ate some of the frozen fries . We never saw the waitress from the time we sat till we were finished. When she asked if we enjoyed it i told her i did not. She said she would speak to her manager. Along he came low and behold and said i should have said something earlier. I would have if she had to come back to our table so he took half of my meal which i think i shouldnt have had to pay at all my husband had pan fried cod he said it was just ok with a few frozen fries and left over carrott and turnip. What a horrible meal will never return to this place. Whoever they have cooking should be fired . Not even a ZERO in my books and the manager came back with my plate in his hands to show that i ate some of it how rude is he at all . We eat out all the time and we are not complainers at all but this was absolutely the WORST ever. And the place is very dirty as well.

Good all-day breakfast, visited several times and have never had an issue with my food. You wont be blown away but its the best average restaurant Ive ever visited.

Excellent selection of family-friendly cuisine, including local favourites. Prices are very reasonable with sizeable portions and quick service during our lunchtime visit. I would recommend for a quick lunch or a sit-down meal with family or friends and will visit again next time Im in St. Johns, NL. Parking: Shared parking lot in strip mall. No issues finding parking nearby during lunch hour on a weekday.

Their food is delicious and very reasonably priced. They have a wide variety and all-day breakfast. Its very cozy and clean. The staff are very friendly. They have great toutons, fish cakes, soup, and love the stuffed chicken breast. I havent had anything yet that I didnt like.
Montana is one of, if not the best server Ive had. She was very friendly. And although she had two big tables, plus ours she made time to chat. My compliments go also to the kitchen staff. They provided our meal in a timely fashion although they were down a member. The prices are good and the food plentiful.
This was my first time there actually! And I would go back! The atmosphere was cozy, the staff were great, they are inexpensive and they have a quality menu with lots to choose from. They also do all day breakfast.
The grilled chicken with the creamy mushroom sauce waa delicious, as was the loaded mashed potatoes. Service was fast and friendly, and the price was very good for such delicious food. I recommend this place and have introduced 4 family members to it since I first tried it.

Great food and good prices. Had the rustler ribs with sweet potato fries and the meat was like an inch thick. My 6yo loved his food and got to pick a treat from a sticker covered suprise chest. Service was great. May have found our new favorite family restaraunt.

Food was really good and the service was excellent. The server really gained my respect as we were there for breakfast on Nov 11th at 11:00AM and she actually stopped serving during the minute of silence which I thought was extraordinary and showed a lot of character.

I love Rustlers. We go here as often as possible for their all-day breakfast. They have a family atmosphere and the food is amazing. Very cost effective.

When relocating to a new city the quest to re-establish resources commences. Looking for a regular breakfast place brought us to Rustlers, the selection friendly staff, good food and atmosphere is why well back and have added this place to our places to go when looking for breakfast. The lunch menu looks equally as good and will back to check this out.

While staying in St. John s we had the opportunity to eat here several times. Their breakfasts are amazing. Burgers are wonderful. Pork chop dinner, great! Would highly recommend this restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had all our orders to go and they always made sure we had plenty of condiments and everything we needed to take back to the hotel.
If youre looking for a casual snack or meal this local restaurant serves good quality, home-cooked food and excellent friendly service. We enjoyed their spinach dip appetizer. I enjoyed their beef dip with fries while my husband enjoyed their fish tacos with fries. We both enjoyed a side Caesar too. We were stuffed! Thank you.

Ive been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, since it was called Champions. The management it is under now does the best job of them all. The food is great and very reasonably priced. The place is clean and it is usually not difficult to get a place to sit. Its a cozy spot. I would go every weekend for brunch if I could. My only complaint is that often the coffee is very weak and watery

The server was attentive but the kitchen was not. Couldnt get soft poached eggs on our benedict after a couple tries. You could also tell the hollandaise sauce was from a pkg and not a very good brand either because it was extremely salty and randomly tart??... No idea what dinner is like, but breakfast wasnt anything special.
Great service, fast and friendly. The food was fantastic. Went back a second time. Had steak and eggs this trip. It was done as I asked. Had perfect charring. Only wish they served homemade homefries. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Thank you again.
Tasty food.
Their food is great but they are serving Santa instant for decaf coffee which we had to send back. I had reached out to suggest they offer a local coffee such as Jumping Bean but when I called to make a reservation for eight for Thursday I learned they are still serving Santa so we will go somewhere else.

The 12 oz steak and eggs is one of the best scoffs Ive ever had in my life. Perfectly seasoned medium rare steak, crunchy hashbrowns, 2 over easy eggs, homemade toast and a piece of orange. Sweet baby Jesus.
Both visits have been pleasant. Service was exceptional. Food was quite tasty and cooked well, though I think most of it is store bought and fozen, regardless, it was good. Prices are quite fair as well as the portions. Atmosphere was nice with traditional Newfoundland music playing. Environment was clean. Overall, I was pleased and will go now and then.
Staff was rude, batter on fish wasnt fully cooked. Felt like they couldnt wait for us to get out of there. Wont be back anytime soon.
