Not a bad place to grab a meal, the breakfast all day is really good if your craving for it. Worth checking out
Menu and food looked delicious. Sat for over 30 mins no service. Asked for our server several times. John finally came and we were told he had food on the "line" and was serving others. He couldn't take our order yet and to wait. Got up and left
Had a great time here today. It was lunchtime on a Saturday and it was fairly busy but the extraordinarily professional and courteous servers let us know ahead of time that taking our orders would take a little extra time. It actually wasn’t that long! Our food came fairly quickly. Everyone enjoyed theirs. Glad they switched to potato pieces for the hash browns instead of the other stuff. Could have used some more of the tomato/onion mix and a little more hollandaise sauce. Coffee is great but they weren’t quick to refill, but again, busy Saturday at noon. Overall, a great dining experience. It was, however, relatively expensive for four people.
At Smitty's, the service emanated warmth and friendliness, although it regrettably faltered in efficiency. While the staff greeted us with genuine hospitality, the delays in taking orders and addressing our needs left us waiting longer than expected. The ambiance at Smitty's exudes coziness and warmth, providing an inviting backdrop for a meal. However, the lack of background noise was noticeable, detracting from the overall atmosphere. Introducing soft background music could greatly enhance the dining experience. Regarding the food, our experience left much to be desired. Unfortunately, the dishes we tried were surprisingly bland, failing to tantalize the taste buds. Moreover, the portion sizes were shockingly small. The "farmers sausage" dish, in particular, was a glaring example of this: a single sausage cut into four pieces felt more like an illusion of a hearty meal rather than the real deal. Compared to similar-priced alternatives like Denny's, where portions are ample and flavors robust, Smitty's offerings fell short. In summary, while Smitty's offers friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, its sluggish service, underwhelming food quality, and skimpy portion sizes make it a less-than-ideal dining option. With the "farmers sausage" servings feeling more like a rip-off than a satisfying meal, it's advisable to seek out other establishments for a more fulfilling culinary experience. Additionally, it's worth noting that the shredded hash browns were severely undercooked, further detracting from the overall dining experience.
Fab! Ordered the Sante Fe and asked for no meat. I didn't want toast so, the server offered fruit. Love the communication! The meatless Sante Fe was really good. Fruit wasn't the freshest but I was glad to have it and it tasted just fine. Service was awesome. Friendly, checked in during meal time, made offers for substitutes, dessert etc., was knowledgeable about the menu. Seating and lighting was comfortable and the restaurant looked nice. Menu had some great options. There were some vegetarian options and you can substitute or ask for meatless options. Price was fair
Food was good but the service needs improvement. The waiter lacked people skills. Take it or leave it attitude.
Smittys is one of my favorite breakfast stops when visiting St. John's. My granddaughter loves the cinnamon pancakes, with extra whip cream.
Smitty's has great variety of food at reasonable price. It is a place for family and friends dishes. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Slow and surly service staff. Walked out after waiting 20 minutes for coffee.
I was surprised that being a shopping center you have to pay for parking.
Excellent food and friendly service!
Good value for money with the breakfast special there. Service is great and makes it even better. Only downside is the paid parking in Churchill Square but there is some limited free parking available

We have brunch here every other weekend and have honestly never had a bad experience. The staff is super friendly and the food is really good! You have the best naps after having it!
This was our first and last time at this location. It was drab and the seats were worn and torn. Everytime the front door opened it got really cold. I had a benedict, it was okay but the hollandaise sauce had no flavor, more like a watered down version and the staff looked just beat out and stressed.

The hashbrowns were the best part of the meal. We asked for soft eggs benedict and both were fully boiled hard. The service was so long and only 1 lady with reddish hair was doing well. The 2 younger ones were completely oblivious, not paying attention, acted like they were on another planet and took forever to help. Will not be returning.

Breakfast is good. Pasta was awful. The sauce in a can of Chef Boyardee has more texture.
Friendly staff great food good value
Location similar to other locations....we arrived and viewed a large outside sign about their daily special, we entered and confirmed with the hostess the daily special. We sat and when the waitress came we ordered two daily specials..to our surprise they were all sold out??!! It was a jigs dinner which surprised me. They could have removed the outside special sign...the hostess could have told us. I chaulk it up to the old bait-and-switch, which we dont fall for..so we walked out. I recommend the same to anyone to stop this type of false advertising.

My friend and I dined at Smittys in Churchill square on Sunday, August 13/23. Food was good but not the live critter on the floor near my feet, A MOUSE. Never again will I enter that restaurant.

Always a good experience with smittys as you know what you are getting and there is consistency in the quality. Went for the up and at em special which is always a good choice.

Three of us went for supper .. ordered a fish and chips .. it was delicious.. and two cod tongue platters .. they were good as well. Service was very good and friendly.

Always great food but the service can be improved on. Writing this review because I recently had the Ultimate Mozza Burger and it was one of the better burgers Ive had from a restaurant recently! Cant go wrong with their breakfast poutine either. Theyll also let you order a single chocolate chip pancake.
First time going in I had to wait 25 mins when there where empty seats which I believe is not right lost My business thats for sure. Do not recommend this place

The waiter was very friendly and accommodating since it was so warm and almost closing time. Food was great. The water had a slight musky taste to it.

Prices where up there on the burgers but after i tasted some of their burgers i can see why. Great flavor and definitely was enjoyable with some of the best cooked crispy fries i have had from anywhere. The service was wonderful aswell, definitely going back again someday soom! Dietary restrictions: My family member was with me and he has a gluten allergy and they where able to compensate him with some gluten free bread with no complaint.

The waitress explained about the daily special which comes with eggs (your own style, I chose sunny side up), 2 bacon, 2 sausages and a choice of pancakes or hashbrowns (you get toast if you get hashbrowns). Though it is our first time here, the waitress was friendly and the food was good. I plan to come back to try other things on their menu.

Service was great. Prices were as expected. Restaurant was clean. However, I had recently had heart bypass surgery and found no breakfast options. No egg white omelette. No fruit plate. Not even ham, which isn t a great option but less fatty than bacon, sausage or balogna. Would love to go back but can t.

This was a wonderful experience! The staff and our server were great! Everything was well laid out, marked and Covid19 protocols were well in place. The meal, breakfast was served hot, fresh and delicious.

Have been here before. Come here every year when I am in St Johns with my family. They were very so in seating us and appeared that they were short staffed. When we finally were seated the waitress quickly brought our drinks and took our order. She was very cheerful and pleasant. Our food was somewhat slow coming from the kitchen, but everyone enjoyed their meal. It was delicious and worth the wait. A good start to the day.

- Food was not good enough, maybe because we asked for some changes to get Halal (no pork, gelatins, alcohol). Baked & mashed potatoes have no sauce or toping (just potato) - Only one person serving that big place. - Food took very long time to be ready. - Sofas/seats are very very old

Took my 1 year old Granddaughter there this morning for breakfast with my mom and daughter. Got seated right away with our menus but that was it. No coffee no juice. No one came back to take our order. 2 other tables seated after us who received coffee immediately and orders placed. Our waitress was in the back chatting . We got up and left. After 15 minutes.
Love the option for traditional Newfoundland grub. I only wish the toutons were pan fried, not deep fried. Staff super friendly, deadly spot
