I can here on a Thursday evening online it says to open I get here and it s closed. It s only 730

Delicious and MULTIPLE gluten free pasta option. Would definitely recommend!

Made a reservation for 7:30 and it s currently 8:35 pm as I type this and we still haven t recieved our food. Not super busy and takeout orders are being completed before in person.

Bellissmo is a hidden gem in this city! My husband and I love Joeys authentic Italian cuisine and quiet, cozy atmosphere -- perfect for conversation. We have been regular customers since he opened six years ago and especially love the bruschetta, Caesar salad, the pastas of the day with delicious sauces, the lasagna, the lamb, and the frangelico dessert. The portion sizes are perfect. Their service is always friendly and efficient! We highly recommend Bellissimos for a date, for catching up with friends and relatives, for a private celebration... whatever! They also have a separate room for groups.

Lovely experience for our first Time there! Food was wonderful, highly recommend the linguine with seafood. It was delicious! Our waitress was lovely. Very comfortable atmosphere! We are definitely going back to try other things as well.

literally the best pasta in my entire life

My wife and I ate in and had a fantastic experience at the restaurant. The staff was lovely and very attentive, we both loved our meals (Alfredo / Vodka pasta dishes) and the dessert (blueberry zabaglione) was an excellent finish to the meal.

The GOOD : -The food was a solid 7 / 10 -Free parking -Nice non-congested area. -Friendly staff. The Bad : -The wait times! ... even though there were very few customers, we felt like it took them forever to get servings to our table. Starting with a soup which one would expect would only need to be laddled up and brought out, it still took almost a half hour just to get it served to our table. -The Soup was decent, but its sodium content was off the scales!.. as if it were made from the ocean water itself. -We had ordered chicken sandwiches and wraps at the same time we ordered the soup, so one might expect that they would be ready to be brought out shortly after we started with our soups, .But its still took another 20 minutes after we were done eating our bowls of soups before they got brought out. But if you arent on any sort of timeline and would rather just sit there and spend an hour or two in conversation while waiting for your meals then I would say you will enjoy the atmosphere.

The most authentic Italian cuisine in St. John s! A beautiful Saturday in June in Newfoundland and the ambiance is such you can imagine yourself in the home country. The mussels in wine/ tomato sauce were fantastic and the bruschetta is always fantastic. Thank you to Katie for excellent service .

I can not say enough about this Bistro! Amazing food, drinks, desserts, and atmosphere. The staff are so warm and welcoming and I really enjoy that you can watch as Joey, the amazing chef, cooks your meal.

This was my first time here, and I enjoyed myself. The food was good, the service was solid and the place was unexpected. Parking was a problem, so I suggest getting there early if you have a reservation. The portions were decent, and there are a lot of good things to say about the place. The pasta is excellent. The hot chocolate is really wonderful. And the staff were helpful. I will be back there again in the future.

We liked the food but felt portions needed more. A sandwich with a salad or fries instead of alone. Pasta with a salad instead of alone. Unfortunately, it didnt quite fill us up. The service was friendly. Decor has potential, but it is cold and missing a cozy feeling. We thought the exterior was nice.

Chicken Alfredo

A tucked away gem of downtown St. Johns. If youre looking for pasta based dishes, or you are hungry then you should come here. Parking: Parking available in front of the building is limited, however, you can park on the street for a limited amount of time.

Best To Call Ahead To Make Sure They Are Open. We Drove An Hour To Eat Here, Arrived At 7:50 And Was Told The Kitchen Closed Early. The Food Is Great However ! Worth The Hour Drive

This place is AMAZING. I used to work here, and from someone who has worked at many dining spots before, THIS restaurant does everything right. I cannot tell you how much care this place puts into everything - the cleanliness, quality of the food, and the little things that just make the dining experience special, EVERYTHING. The drinks are delicious, I would go just for their cocktails. The coffee is top notch, the food is without a doubt the best food Ive ever tasted (and I could never get sick of it). Part of my praise for the food comes from knowing that everything is fresh and homemade, the cooks are incredibly talented and put so much effort into making sure every dish is perfect. The quality is consistent, the serving staff there are some of the kindest people Ive ever met, and the atmosphere is wonderfully cozy. I normally dont ever leave reviews of restaurants I have worked at, but this one deserves high praise. Without a doubt the best Italian place in town. Vegetarian options: They offer vegetarian and vegan options. Dietary restrictions: This restaurant always checks for allergies and dietary restrictions. They have Gluten Free pasta and other options, and are very precautious with allergies.

Updating my review because the last several meals we had here were very good. It s nice to have a true Italian restaurant serving food prepared from scratch. We highly recommend Bellissimo. Old review: I just don t know. I guess I m comparing Bellissimo to Il Mercato in Halifax or similar based on price. But it just isn t in the same league it s good, but, it s missing the mark. It starts with no effort whatsoever on decor, comfort or style. Even the service was pretty bland. The food is good. It s obviously made from scratch but it lacks the fresh herbs, spices and garlic I would expect with authentic italian cuisine. It borders on bland rather than flavourful and fragrant. I had a Caesar salad my first time there and this time around a could not get any sense of garlic in the recipe? We also ordered the bruschetta on our first visit (outstanding) and we couldn t recognize the bruschetta on this visit again very bland and completely different that the original version. We both had pasta dishes on each visit. Hope this is taken as constructive and we will try the restaurant again.

Nice date night

Excellent food and service. Small space and noise travels easy, nothing on the walls to help with noise. We were seated next to a table of six off to the side and could hardly hear each other speak.

Our very favourite place to eat period. Havent experienced better service, food nor personalities anywhere else in the province. Its the sort of place that will know you and your preferences in no time. Every single thing on the regular menu is consistent EVERY time and the specials menus will totally delight you. Also have an excellent wine list.

My dad and I love to have lunch here! Bellissimo Bistro is so quaint and the food hits the spot every single time! They have a delicious lunch special, fully loaded bruschetta, and their house made hot sauce or boomba on the side is to die for! Citrus infused water for the table adds a special touch, and the americano misto is always spot on. Claire and Phil are familiar faces now and they offer the best service in town! Brava!

Great place to have some really authentic Italian food. Unlike downtown st Johns, the service here is pretty good. Our server was very quick, friendly, paid attention to detail and had great recommendations. I cant stress it enough the tiramisu is amazing, its the best I have had. Unfortunately they run of tiramisu really quickly

Delicious fresh and authentic Italian food!

First time at this restaurant , and I must say my wife and I have been missing a great experience , Claire our server was very friendly and professional and the meals we tried were the best Italian food weve had in Quite some time , We would highly recommend this Restaurant to anyone wanting a good food experience, and hats off to Joey the Chef, a real artist.

We were sightseeing and looking for a place to have a nice dinner, found this little gem and fell in love. Staff were attentive and excellent, food was wonderful. We started with their bruschetta with mozzarella and balsamic glaze as an appetizer. YUM! Perfection! Our dinners, the special of the day, a stuffed ravioli type noodle with the white wine sauce, and the lasagna. Wonderful choices, cooked to perfection! If they would give out their recipes I d take em in a heartbeat! Try this wonderful homey Italian restaurant that uses family recipes. You won t regret it.

A great Italian experience in St. Johns Nfld. The food was delicious, the service was good, the staff were typically so friendly. Call ahead & make a reservation, it a very popular spot! We were 11 adults, 1 toddler & 2 infants and we were treated like royalty. Parking: Very limited street parking.

Dang that chicken parm sandwich was deeeelish!

Lovely family owned restaurant in St Johns NL. Service was great, nice atmosphere and the food very tasty. We started off with bruschetta (cheese and balsamic glaze extra $) which we enjoyed with 1/2 litre of wine which we enjoyed. We were disappointed with the amount of ingredients per serving in the main dishes. I had the Linguini de la mer (seafood linguini) which had 3 small shrimp, tiny scallops and flaked salmon. Would have been way more substantial with 3 large shrimps, 3 large scallops and 3 chunks of salmon. Honestly, the seafood was lost amongst the pasta. My husband had the lasagna which tasted well but must have had about 1 tablespoon of meat filling. As I mentioned earlier, the flavours of the meal was delicious but we were disappointed with the substance which is why I gave 3 stars.

The experience I had at Bellissimo tonight was TOP NOTCH. I had the seafood linguine and it was simply a delightful explosion of flavours. The music and atmosphere was pleasant and the server was very professional. After a long and stressful day at work, Bellissimo truly made my day. Will definitely go back!

Went there for dinner last night! It was so delicious! I woke up thinking about the amazing stuffed pasta and rosé sauce! The tomato bruschetta was the best and definitely get the tiramisu! Will 100% be back again! My new favourite restaurant in St. John s! Perfect for a date night!

Do not be in a hurry, but worth the wait. Besides good coffees (and amazing hot chocolate) the food was excellent. Gluten free items are safe for celiac persons. The bread in the picture was so fresh, light, crispy. Nice server.

Just lovely Such a great restaurant to go for a relaxing, delicious supper. Start to finish enjoyable. Friendly, attentive (but not too much!) & knowledgeable staff. Delicious food! Husband had the spaghetti & polpette and I had the chicken fettuccine alfredo. Perfect portion sizes. Took a tiramisu as a take out- oh my goodness Delicious!!!! The food was generally good. The pasta was very good; the red sauce ok but a little bland. My dinnermate s soup was very salty. Another dinnermate wanted some slight adjustment to her entree and was told no. I asked for tomato juice. None. V8? No. Iced tea? No. (I had water only). Overall however my most negative comment was the atmosphere and decor which was really very poor. We were at table for 5 and we sat at three tables pushed together and were uneven. The fabric on the chairs was stained. Very little was done with the decor to make it feel inviting. It felt like a fish and chips place, not an Italian restaurant where entrees were priced in the high $20 and $30 range. Unlikely that we ll go back.

Loved it. Recommend the lasagna. Certainly one of the best values for money.

Very nice atmosphere and very good food. So nice to finally have a good Italian restaurant in the city. Our first time here we decided to both try the spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious, and served with very nice crispy baguette. We look forward to trying the other menu options. Update: Visited here again today and had such a great lunch. They now have tables outside and we were able to enjoy a delicious meal outside on a sunny day. We both had the cheese tortellini and it was fantastic. Love this place

True Italian food and feel

Just tried this food as it was recommended to me by a close friend as the best Italian food in St. John s and as an Italian I must say that statement is completely true and I would recommend this place as a MUST TRY , you will not be disappointed I tried the Risotto and veal parm sandwich with side of Cesar salad and bruschetta bread it was the tastiest meal I ve ever had and the risotto was the best risotto I ve ever had lol I SWEAR

When in St. Johns and looking for a great Italian restaurant then we recommend taking the opportunity to give this cozy local restaurant a chance. Since moving to Newfoundland earlier this year weve been looking for good places to eat, Bellisimo was a great find. Great food at reasonable prices, authentic background Italian music and cuisine. If youre lucky enough to get Phil as your server, your dining experience will be memorable.

Amazing food, great service and the kindest, friendliest staff. It s a quiet and quaint little spot. Unsuspecting. Love coming here for a quiet lunch and an Americano... Bellissimo!
