The menu, wine list and cocktails are all thoughtfully curated to offer you a the best possible experience. Our deli (now located at 173 Brookfield Road at Lester's Farm Market) has a variety of fresh sausages, salamis, pates, dry cured meats, condiments, sandwiches and premade meals. We offer charcuterie, combo boards and sandwich trays for take out and large group gatherings.
The waiter was super sweet and the food was amazing. The decor matched the vibes and overall a 10/10 experience
Excellent experience here. Our server went above and beyond to look after us and we had a great yarn in the process - really made a difference. Had the large charcuterie board which was excellent as always with great variety. Also tried one of the cocktails which was done very well. Atmosphere was quieter but great for a good yarn with your company. Will be back again to try some mains !
The meat and cheese plate, the wine selections, and the craft cocktails were amazing, but it was John's service that would bring us back again and again. He was attentive, kind, thoughtful, and so clearly passionate. My husband and I both agreed we have never had better or more personalized service at any restaurant we've been before. 10/10, John! Thank you for the most memorable Anniversary dinner we've ever had. We'll be back! :)
Wonderful food and lovely staff. We tried duck confit, pate sampler, pork chop and broccoli. We loved all of it, but especially the broccoli. Would come back on every trip to St. John’s.
On a solitary trip to NFLD, it was only appropriate that I treat myself. Chinched was an amazing experience. From the Absinthe based cocktail, the Corpse Reviver, to the Atlantic Oysters. The charred carrots were good, and presented beautifully, but I found them in need of a bit of acid. The gentleman behind the bar microplaned a lemon in under a minute and had it ready for me instantly. The service while sitting at the bar was top notch Being that I was dining alone, light hearted conversation was welcome, and he was very forty coming with what was on the menu, where it came from, and what to expect. Great experience. Food was great. Service was stellar.
Charcuterie on a whole other level. Fantastic bread. Just nothing but delicious. Eat all the meats. Back patio needs a sprucing up at this level though. Specifically the run off at the roof line of the kitchen exhaust. Easy fix.
Reserved a spot at the bar as I was traveling solo. Danny and everyone else at Chinched made me feel welcome from the second I walked in! I had a custom mocktail, which started the experience off right. I’m pescatarian so I ignored the recommended charcuterie and pigs ears, but hear they are delicious. I settled on Lobster, poached and served cold with leche de Tigre sauce. Amazing! By far best lobster dish I’ve ever tasted. Also had the beets and pears, which was superbly prepared. I didn’t leave room for dessert, but had some anyway. Glad I did. Although the food was amazing, the overall experience of dining here was even better. Danny made me feel so welcome. He suggested other great restaurants and experiences in St John’s. Sadly it was my last evening there, so I’ll have to go back! I would highly recommend this place!
Been here on a couple occasions now, and it’s great every time. It’s hard to recommend specific items as they rotate their menu somewhat frequently, but I’ve never had anything less than ‘pretty damn good’ here. The charcuterie is always great, and they rotate the products out on their boards too, such that it’s always a new delicious experience. Highly recommended.
The best Partridgeberry apple sausages ever!
Had a great time with friends, our bartender and server Danny was the best!
Wonderful menu.
Unreal spot. The food was unreal and I suggest you sit at the bar. The bartenders are great.
We got Chinched-In in St. aJohns... Way better NFLD experience than Screeched-In, (so cliché). Chinched is truly NFLD food, upscale. Chef-made, everything... From Cackers to Vinegar Pie... Sous-vide pork, with warm potato salad. Light and tasty Cod Tongues .. such a delicacy. Service is friendly and casual like all Islanders. Dont miss out on the Charcuterie Boards. Local ingredients, uniquely made.
Very good food, but very one-sided. Some platters lack side dishes, so you may go back on the road hungry.
the chef has no tact or class. Many chefs dont but this one takes the cake. I guess they figure no one else in town can or has made a sausage. What a wiener
Went there for my birthday and had a fantastic meal. It s also worth calling out our server in particular, John. I m not sure if I ve had a waiter be more kind, attentive, or personable. And of course, the food was legit. Thank you thank you!!
Delicious food & drinks and very friendly service!
I love to eat out wherever I go. I haven t been to Cinched in years, and was invited out for a birthday dinner. Well, I ll be darned. The food was remarkable, and the service is the best I ve had in the city. And there s no question about it. Highly recommend sitting out on their patio (while weather permits); it made me feel like I was back my favourite restaurant in Montréal.
We saw a full house when we walked by and then called in for reservations. Our waiter Shawn was so helpful and attentive it made the experience really top notch. Everything we ate was delicious. The charcuterie was great and not greasy or salty. Our pork belly was deliciously meaty with a perfect crust and flavor. It was the best meal we ve had in a long time.
Amazing spot for great food. Great quality at prices better than most water street restaurants. The charcuterie platter was very tasty. The pork rillions were amazing.
Food was refreshing change from the burgers and fish and chips found everywhere in St John s! Server was fantastic and explained the menu very well and also provided other recommendations. Great patio as well.
Vegetarian options: There are a few dishes that are vegetarian Dietary restrictions: Ask your server Parking: A few spots out front but otherwise it is paid street parking or nearby parking garages Kid-friendliness: Not really for kids, but you can bring your kids Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
We had an amazing experience for a large group (8 adults + 4 children) birthday dinner. The food was excellent, showcasing a delightful array of homemade offerings, including pickled vegetables, breads, olives, and charcuterie. The service was top-notch, with special thanks to John, our outstanding waiter, who ensured every detail was perfect. Highly recommend for any special occasion, especially involving a large group.
As always, Chinched has amazing selection of charcuterie meats and house made condiments like the apricot compote shown. They also carry an assortment of cheeses to ! They Recently moved their deli to Lester s farm market, this move makes parking a breeze and is easily accessible for everyone. I ve also had the pleasure of dining in their restaurant and their pigs ear fries are to die for!! I recommend them to everyone! Parking: Big parking lot, one way entrance and exit Wheelchair accessibility: There s a ramp outside the deli location for wheelchairs and strollers
Everything was perfect. The food is wonderful and so are the drinks. Loved this restaurant.
We lucked out and were able to book a table at Chinched the first night of our trip in St. Johns for our family of 6 (ages ranging from 6 - 81). Everyone absolutely loved the food, service and atmosphere. We were blown away by the unique flavours and variety on the menu (the kids meals were fabulous as well). This is a do not miss restaurant if you are in St. Johns!
On the deli side, the lady was extremely rude and disrespectful from the moment we walked in. I asked her for cheese and beef, and she responded that she couldn t accommodate my request. When I pointed out that there were a couple of beef options available, she reluctantly said okay, but in an aggressive tone. I ordered a box and was told to come back in 30 minutes to pick it up. I didnt have time to return in 30 minutes, so I offered to pay in advance. She said she trusted me, and I assured her we would come back to pick it up. However, when my friend went back to collect it, the lady rudely told her to leave and that she had disassembled the box a long time ago. An alternative could have been for me to pay upfront so she felt comfortable holding the box for us. Additionally, I am baffled by her aggressive attitude the moment we entered the shop. Ive never experienced such poor customer service in St. Johns before.
Fantastic spot with an incredible menu, and Danny on the bar is the absolute best!! Will be back.
Amazing food and service ! We tried duck confit , pate sampler, pork shoulder and broccoli ! Everything was extremely delicious ! Highly recommend!!
Best food in Saint Johns! The steak was delicious and the fries homemade. The waitress was kind andattentionate tonour questions. Really a super good restaurant in a modern decor. :)
Great little patio. Food was so good we had the oysters, charcuterie and cheese board, broccoli and rhubarb for desert. The service was friendly and helpful and the wine list was good
An absolute delight to visit Chinched this past weekend while in St. Johns. The grilled charcuterie plate blew my mind as an innovative, and very satisfying take on the classic tradition. The Scallop Crudo was to die for, but all of that pales in comparison to the bartender Danny. Hes one of the most passionate bartenders for the craft that Ive come across and was so charming to chat with after our meal.
An amazing meal at every level. Guided by Danny our bartender who was very fun and happy to help us with suggestions. Cant wait to return!
It s a disappointing experience for us. The service was mediocre and extremely slow. After we got seated, we waited for 10 mins to finally see our server, then waited another 10-15mins for our wines. Then waited 45-50 mins for our appetizer which is a very simple charcuterie board! After fished our charcuterie board, waited another 30mins for our mains! The wait is way over too long for the type of dishes we ordered. The wine was delicious, charcuterie board was normal. The mains (pork belly and lobster) were so salty. They are flavourful but extremely salty that we had to constantly drinking water while eating them. Didn t enjoy it. I m not sure where all these good ratings come from, but I would never come back. It s really a waste of time and money.
Walked in since we had lunch at their deli stand. Absolutely fantastic food and the bar tender Ann was fun and provided outstanding service. Go here no matter what else you do. Food
The pork belly was delish
Order the broccolis & sourdough! Best food we had on our trip :) Amazing service too Food
First time guest and I could go either way on this place. Not sure what the fuss is all about Very eclectic menu for sure but it almost appears as though the chef is trying too hard with overly complicated sauces and preparations. Very noisy atmosphere and I found myself straining to listen to my table mate and asking them to repeat what they were saying Service was mediocre at best and on the slightly (inexperienced) side. Return ? Not at this time
Hands down, best meal of my life. What an absolute treat to enjoy such stellar food in such an inviting and humble venue. Run, dont walk to Chinched.
Great cocktails, service, and top notch food. Next level spot in Newfoundland. Bartender Danny was excellent.
Stumbled on this place back in 2017 while visiting St. Johns with my family and so happy to find it again in 2024. The food here is fun, inventive, and delicious. The staff were accommodating of dietary restrictions. A friendly place for a tasty meal!
Fantastic place overall. The food and cocktails were top notch (the crispy dill pig ears and rhubarb margarita were my favs), the service was great, and the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly.
Unique and cute little spot for charcuterie and other plates. We also got the Mussels, which was the special of the day when we visited. And it might just be the best mussels I ve ever had. The pig ear fries were quite unique too! As a Chinese Canadian, I ve only had braised pig ears (which makes them soft). A crispy version tossed in buffalo sauce is amazing!
Good food options. Great service!
Best meal we had in St. Johns. Our group of 8 had just about everything on the menu and shared amongst ourselves. All of it was great. Our server and bartender were fantastic. Highly recommend.
Best meal and experience ever had anywhere! Muah muah muah!!!
A bit pricey but great food. The charcuterie is always great and their plated options are always interesting. Its always an event and if recommend doing a multi course meal. The Partridge berry flan might be the best thing ever
i took my grandma here and we had a lovely time. the chimmichurri ranch was one of the best things i ve ever tried (i m a picky eater for reference lol). i had the potato wrapped cod with tomato orzo and it was fantastic. our waiter was super friendly and gave us a great experience. worth every penny!
Chinched is a special place in St. Johns. It delivers an amazing dining experience that leaves a lasting impression. From the moment you step through the door, youre greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The menu prioritizes local ingredients while bringing world-class bistro vibes. We were there during the Chinched x Rabble pop up. The attention to detail extends beyond the food, with attentive bartenders and friendly service that enhances the dining experience. Chinched is more than a restaurant; its a St Johns culinary experience
Excellent services, it was my first experience in this restaurant and it was amazing! Thank you for best dinner experience.
Excellent food! Especially the hot charcuterie board.
Food was absolutely delicious!! I cant say enough about the service!!! Everyone working together to make sure we had a wonderful dining experience !!! Food
Absolutely amazing! From the service, to the presentation, to the taste every aspect of our visit was phenomenal. Danny is in every way, shape and form the best bartender to ever grace this island! Thank you to all of the staff!!!
Best meal ever!!!!
Pate Board was amazing. Pig ear fries with Buffalo sauce was great also
Great service from Simone. Excellent selection of charcuterie boards. Nice wine menu.
This is an absolute gem. The best cocktails in town, wonderful urban vibes, and scrumptious bites. Youd be a FOOL not to eat here. Also they can accommodate vegetarian needs, even though their main gig is meat based. Food
TOTALLY worth a visit!! After my first try here, Ive easily become hooked. I recommend getting a medium to large-sized charcuterie and some oysters with maybe a small dish or two. My only tip is unless youre ready to dish out a lot of $, dont expect to feel 100% full afterwards. The dishes are delicious but mostly smaller in size.
My friend had a charcuterie board made for her Christmas party. I wanted to make one too for Valentines. I was intimidated because I never made charcuterie before. I even looked it up on Youtube. lol I went to Chinched deli and the woman there sliced me some stuff. She told me which ones they put on charcuterie in their restaurant and gave me a few tips on how to fold it. Sweet. For sure will go back.
The restaurant was as expected, small portions, delicious flavours and quite pricey. You will not leave full, but will be very pleased with each dish you try.
Great staff and food. Best rabbit dish ever
I love everything about this place. I love the food the service and the drinks are amazing thanks Danny
Food has always been good, and I gave it a 5-star rating 4 years ago. However, I am back to change it to a 4-star rating now because I feel really hurt. I have celebrated my birthday three times here in the past, but this year, I am extremely disappointed. We made a reservation a week before my birthday, but when we arrived on time, the waitress informed us that they were busy and seated me at a table facing the washroom. I politely requested a different seat for my birthday, but she refused to accommodate my request, not even pretending to do so. Throughout the meal, the washroom door remained open, which was highly unpleasant. Furthermore, the waitress used an uncomfortable tone while reiterating how busy they were and insisted that we finish the meal within 1.5 hours, even though we had just sat down. After placing our food order, she did not bother to check on us or inquire about the quality of the food. When she changed the water bottle, it was done hastily and with a hint of rudeness. Her fingers even touched the inside of the bottle, yet she said nothing and left it on our table. When we finished our main dishes, only one dessert arrived instead of the two we had ordered. Not wanting my partner to witness me eating the cake alone, we had to wait for someone else to check the table and inform them of our missing order. Despite the disappointing experience, we still tipped 18% for the meal. However, this birthday experience has left me deeply hurt in numerous ways. I used to love Chinched, which is why I celebrated my own and my parents birthdays here in the past. Unfortunately, I will never go to Chinched again.
Food is delicious. Highly recommend.
Our experience at Chinched was absolutely delicious. We shared a small charcuterie and cheese board (had a pancetta, summer sausage, aged cheddar and brie) - the meats were so flavourful, the apricot compote was a great addition, and the spiced nuts were good on their own or with the meat and cheese. We also had the cod dish and the roasted cabbage caesar based on the recommendation from our server Ivan. Not a crumb left. Highly recommend - great service and great food!
Great place. The drinks were delicious and so were our dishes. The desserts were underwhelming. I would still go back to have the carrots again!!!
Spectacular place. So nice to see people who really know what they are doing and enjoy doing it!
Highly recommend this restaurant in St. Johns for top-notch food and service. Charcuterie plate was a complete stand-out! The spicing on the pancetta could not have been done better. With apricot preserves, pickles and candied walnuts. We also had the goat cheese dip - again excellent execution and flavour. The smoked cod was fabulous and the pork bao done just right. Tuna crudo was also wonderful. These folks obviously care about what they are doing!
Spent 150$ for our anniversary dinner and the food/service/atmosphere were all below average. For a restaurant rated 4.8 on google it did not come close to the expectations.
Loved the charcuterie and Pork Bao and my wife had the chicken and really enjoyed it.
The dill pork ears are seriously good! Also, I cannot attest others experience but the waiter is super super nice. One of my friends forget the stuff and one of the waiter chased us to ask if we lost our staff. Going well and beyond the service and didn t accept any appreciation tip at the end. Will come back if I had the chance.
Wow
Amazing food service and atmosphere !!! 10/10
Really nice place! The service was great and the food was tasty. It was the best restaurant that Ive tried during my trip.
Absolutely an amazing restaurant that we stumbled upon during our trip to St. Johns. The food was the best we had during our trip - the Bao and Potato Wrapped Cod earned them 5 stars in its self. Our server was one of the best Ive ever had, he was so personable and attentive - he even provided us with a list of other restaurants to checkout while we were in the area. We will be returning to St.Johns specifically to enjoy another meal at Chinched.
Our first stop and food in Newfoundland and it did not disappoint. Danny was the best bartender and made us feel welcome and excited for the rest of our trip. Cool atmosphere and even tried pig ears which are a must try
Great restaurant in St John s, unique menu, fresh local foods. Oyster were super fresh, fun way to eat pig ears and the Cod was delicious. Cheese and meat board was well made. Adequate service, though no very personal, we still felt taken care of. Definitely recommend this place.
Wonderful wonderful i can t say enough great things about this place :)
Excellent food and service. Presentation and flavours were incredible. Highly recommend!
Amazing food and service. Had the curry fish cakes and a cheese plate, which were both incredible. Cocktails were also some of the best Ive had! Would recommend for anyone visiting newfoundland looking for great food, atmosphere and service.
We walked past this restaurant so many times on our way downtown but never stopped in until it was recommended to us as one of the better restaurants in St. John s. We are very glad we came! The ambiance upstairs is nice enough, but we eventually moved downstairs and ate at the bar which we enjoyed much better. The staff was very friendly, and the food and cocktails we had were fantastic. We started with a charcuterie board, which is one of their specialties (they also seemed to have a storefront that sold meats). We then had some curried fish cakes which were excellent and spent the rest of the evening sipping cocktails and nibbling on fried pig ears in buffalo sauce (don t let the name scare you, these are FANTASTIC). Highly recommended and should be a priority for any trip to St. John s
This place has been the best value for our money in St. Johns. The service was excellent, the food perfect and the price was great value for the high level dining experience you are receiving. Food
Delicious, creative, and well-balanced dishes. Beautiful plating. Great service.
Unbelievably great This exceeded our expectations in service, presentation, taste, I don t see why you would NOT make this part of your St. John s trip. For the come-from-awayer: you are not going to be disappointed!!!
excellent food & drinks!
I love putting their sausages inside me
Our best meal while visiting St Johns for the weekend. The Grilled meat board for sharing was exceptional, as was the goat cheese dip. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the city, especially for pork.
Interesting and delicious menu for reasonable price! Flan (dessert) was amazing!!! Not too sweet, very special and had a unique twist. Loved it!
Amazing food and service. A definite must.
Delicious. Friendly. Unique. Can t wait to go back.
Really good food. We went 2 nights in a row because it was amazing !
Absolutely love it here, some of the best food I ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Absolutely perfect experience. John was an exemplary host who could teach a master class in serving. The charcuterie board for two was amazing and the oysters were beyond fresh. Cant say enough good things about Clinched. Pork, pork, pork for the win baby. Oink
Super cozy atmosphere with amazing meals.
This place is so loud. I recognize theyve tried to ameliorate it somewhat, but more needs to be done.
Very good, excellent value for money. Quality restaurant
I had a great evening at the bar there tonight! Everything was perfect :) Food
We got a reservation here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised with the food and cozy atmosphere. The charcuterie board is a must get and they even have a small storefront inside which sells the meats and cheeses individually. I did find the cod too be on the saltier side, though.
Always great!
Great selection of meats at the front counter and the food is equally good if you wanna dine in
Great food and experience
Delicious food, great service and spectacular drinks! Ask Danny behind the bar to make you any of his specialty cocktails and definitely try the buffalo pig ears, they are perfect
What a terrific evening we had at Chinched. Everything we ate was delicious and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. We bought some of their in-house sausages on our way out and they were delicious. We highly recommend Chinched - it is mostly a sharing style restaurant but this just means you can sample several dishes and experience them all together. We cannot wait to go back.
The lunch take out charc box is such a great deal - beautifully presented house cured meats, pates, pickles, condiments and crackers. Still thinking about the spruce tip mortadella
Absolutely amazing! Weve lived here for 4 months and this is by far the best food weve had in Newfoundland! And, the service was great too! Thank you for a wonderful meal; we will be back again and again.
Had a nice dinner experience at chinched! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and seem to enjoy what they do. The food was so so for me, got try the local oyster, the merasheen bay oysters with house hot sauce which were food, the cod dumplings were ok and the tuna putanesca ok, excellent risotto but unfortunately the tuna was quite salty.
This was by far one of the best dining experiences we ve had in Newfoundland. Superb, fantastically portioned, imaginative in season meals. Hoping to recreate the tuna meal at home this spring.
Top notch and varied menu. All in party were satisfied. Excellent service and pleasant atmosphere. Thanks for great meal!
The food was great, delicious and fresh. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had Potato wrapped Cod, special item Duck, pig eras and Oysters and all were great. Highly recommend.
Food gets 5 stars but service only 2 stars. Refused to let us sit by window upon seating though table remained empty for entire 2 hour stay. Food took forever though restaurant half empty. Blasted 90s rap music whole time, not a great atmosphere.
As someone from Hogtown i am genuinely impressed and would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates good meat. GET THE SAUSAGE PLATER!, great selection of Vidi beer and excellent staff. Cant wait to come back on the next visit to St. Johns!
Great spot in St. Johns, our server was great and so was the food. Well be back on our next visit to St. Johns!
A St. Johns must. Superb all around. This was our first meal in St. Johns the day we arrived, and we enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation to return for our last meal on our last night before flying out. Everything we had over the two meals was delicious: the oysters, pate platter, sausage platter, tuna, shrimp salad, potato cod, lobster brodo, and the preserved lemon cake. Good cocktails, beers, and wines. Dishes are very flavourful and well portioned for the price and upscale yet comfortable overall concept. The service was warm and on point both nights, making us feel very welcome and valued as visitors. Easily in the top 5 restaurants in Canada weve been to in 5+ years. If you have to choose between Chinched and one of the other popular restaurants in the St. Johns area, dont make the mistake of missing out.
We were in St. Johns for a week and came here twice! The food and service are both exceptional. Definitely one of the best dining experiences weve had in the last few years. Thank you Chinched, cant wait to come back!
Delicious! Everything I had was wonderful and the servers were very attentive.
Food is delicious. Waited forever to get our oysters and even longer for the charcuterie. We waited almost 2 hours for our entrees. We had cod and lamb shank. Owner did right and adjusted bill. I am hoping it was an off night.
By far the best meal of our entire 2 week trip! The patè plate, the drinks, the delicious lamb and tuna! All incredible with friendly service, too. Really well done and can t recommend enough
The menu is really unique and meat driven. It would be an awesome date night or dinner with friends location
Loved the carnitas tacos!
Amazing find. Must visit.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Amazing music and atmosphere. I started with the strawberry fields (cocktail special) created by Danny (best bartender ever!). I had pig ears with buffalo sauce. Sooo crispy + good. I tried the duck. Delicious! Had the punch cocktail SO YUM. Overall just so so impressed by the taste and presentation of everything (the cocktails had dried flowers, so cute) and the PEOPLE! Such lovely staff and the owner Michelle is such a down to earth sweetheart! You must come here!!!!
Fabulous food, great service, never disappoints.
What am amazing meal! This was by far the best meal we had during our vacation to Newfoundland! This is a must stop and will be for all of our future trips back to Newfoundland!
Good service, delicious mains, and tasty cocktails. Only downside was that the combo board we started with was average.
great food and cocktails great server great job
Id give chinched 6 stars if I could. Incredible charcuterie, amazing dishes, terrific dessert and awesome beer. Service was perfect as well. My second visit and I cant wait to find a reason to return
Decided to elope from Ontario to St Johns Newfoundland. From advice of friends born and raised here we decided to have a wedding dinner at Chinched.... Best decision we made. Amazing food and drinks. John was taking care of us and was amazing. You cant go wrong eating here. Enjoy!
Charcuterie is great but Korean pork wraps are a must!
Oh my god. The food here is incredible!!! I loved how well thought out all of the dishes were. The pork belly was the best pork belly Ive ever had. The people there were wonderful. 10/10 would go back, it was awesome.
The food and service at Chinched are both incredible. We shared the grilled charcuterie board and cod dumplings for dinner, a tarte and rhubarb crumble cheesecake for dessert, and a wonderful gin cocktail with mulled cucumber. It was positively exceptional start to finish. We cannot wait to return! It was a wonderfully memorable meal!
The best restaurant for meat lovers in St. Johns. Everything was delicious. People really nice. Service very quick. Ill give them 10 stars if I could. Love this place.
Just had a fantastic experience at Chinched! The food was amazing and our server, John, was lovely. Try the pate sampler if you get a chance.
Ouuuu baby was this restaurant good! We got the Lamb chop, cavatelli with mussels and cod dumplings, all of which were fantastic. The dumplings might have been the best $18 I ve ever spent. The cheesecake for dinner was solid. Ambiance was great and the service was top notch. I ll be back if I m ever in the city.
Unbelievable food here. Everything is incredible. One of the best dining experiences! We tried the grilled charcuterie board, crackers, candied nuts,, mac and cheese, grilled broccoli and potato wrapped cod. All the dishes were so delicious!!! Especially the potato wrapped cod, possibly the best fish Ive had at a restaurant A must try in St. John; you cant go wrong dining here!!!
Its my worst dining experience in recent 5 years for sure. I am surprised nobody said how pretentious their food was! Appetizer portion for entrees and we had to buy soup and instant noodle on the way home after dinner so we wont go to bed hungry. Had the food been any good, the small portion and price would not be an issue as we were ready to splurge on our last meal in Newfoundland, but unfortunately what we ordered gave us no confidence in ordering more from Chinched. Maybe we were unlucky with menu that night, here is what we ordered: lamb shank (stay away! flavorless and chewy, I didnt know you can mess up lamb so bad), cod dumplings (somehow i assumed its American dumplings my bad, but its 4 pieces of Asian potsticker with cod filling, not much flavor, avoid), potato-wrapped cod (highly praised by waiter, tender although a bit salty for my taste, but $26 for 2 pieces of nugget-size cod was not my idea of entree), crispy pigs ear (quite good, the only item met our expectation). The waiter was pleasant and courteous, but food left us wanting.....At the end of day we three so wished we had repeated our tapas experience just a few blocks down, we would have been much happier.
Who knew the food scene was so vibrant in St. John s. This was one of our best dining experiences, the service and food were top notch. Shout out to Danny at the bar!
One of the best restaurants in the city. You have to try the pig ears and the short rib
Amazing place in St Johns. We had the charcuterie and cheese board, the potato wrapped cod , the beetroot salad and the gnocchi de pane. It was truly delicious. The staff is also very nice and knowledgeable. One of the highlights of my trip!
Been here twice now and must say that not only is the food incredible but also everyone who works here is so friendly and attentive. This team really knows how to serve great food and keep things fun and interesting at the same time. Highly recommend!
We stopped in at Chinched for a light supper on a recent trip to St. John s, we were extremely delighted with the experience. This small inviting restaurant has an inviting glow, very cool and dark, while staying warm with a traditional feel. The staff were great and accommodating, and provided top notch advice on the menu. We tried a few drinks, the oysters and a charcuterie board. The oysters were some of the best we have had in the St. John s area, and all the other foods were fresh, full of flavour and made in restaurant. Would highly recommend if in the downtown area, great place for a nice a date night.
Great food, friendly staff, nice ambiance. We had candied walnuts, the boards (combo), grilled charcuterie platter, herb roasted beets, and cheesecake as the final touch. All were excellent. The charcuterie for both the boards and the grilled platter were outstanding. The selections of cheese fit my taste buds very well. Just love the place. There were parking spots but unlikely to handle all the guests. Fortunately we went on a Saturday and street parking spots were not too hard to find. The front entrance has several steps. Wheelchair customersd better check if there is another entrance. Parking: Parking spots yes but unlikely to handle all guests. There are many street parking spots though.
Delicious food - love the idea of sharing plates. The potato wrapped cod was our favourite. Service was excellent.
Absolutely delicious food, wonderful service and cozy romantic atmosphere! Will definitely eat here again soon!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. A gem in St. John s.
Thanks to Chinched, we are enjoying an amazing charcuterie board this evening
My favorite place
Staff very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Choice of main dishes not really reflective of some traditional palates.
Really enjoyed our night out:) food was exceptionally delicious! And service was great as well. I had the Japanese chicken and waffles, I have never eaten anything like it! I loved my experience.
The charcuterie was good. But the sausage and grilled boards were over the top stunning. Probably the best cooked sausage have ever had. The bar has a dozen local taps, same for the bottles. Wines are more limited.
Fantastic food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. We had a very enjoyable evening when we went for dinner - would highly recommend.
Amazing food and excellent service. Never disappoints.
The service was great and the food wonderful. It was a little too hot on the second floor the night we were there but it was bearable. Overall a very nice restaurant.
A more of a small dish and plate sharing place
Great little spot to grab some yummy deli meats and pickles! Had such a wonderful service and they totally helped us build the perfect sandwich with recommendations on where to get the perfect bread to accompany our meat!
Great food and service
Great selection of meats with delicious sides, fitting for all hungers offering small and larger plates (shareable and individual). Desserts are equally yummy! We tried duck, pork belly, pork medallions, vienna sausage, pavlova and creme blûlée - loved every single bit!
The service and food are great. We love the atmosphere too!
I was there for supper with my brother and the food was tasty and creative especially the charcuterie boards dun up with there own cured meats and if you love oysters this is a place for you they offered three sauces made in house and dont forget about dessert we had the chocolate cannoli which was rich tasting and nice and light at the same time it was delicious but the over the top was the creme brulee just a classic but with a delectable twist youll definitely want to try it at the end of your meal. At the end I cant wait to have another lovely evening at Chinched!
It was ok. Portions are not really what i expected, like the bread, soup, glass of wine etc for the price however it is tasty...and good service!
One of my favorite restaurants in St. Johns. The house cured meats are always delicious, the pork belly rillions are some of the best menu items in the city, and theres always some good variety on the menu. Great place to go and order 4 or 5 things to share them all.

Delicious local food served by friendly staff. The atmosphere is great! I love the charcuterie boards, and the crackers are homemade and the meat cured in house! Great spot if you re looking for local food
Strongly suggest ordering a board! And treat yourself to some take home from the deli. Yum

I had a great experience dining in at Chinched for dinner. Staff clearly know how to work together well and the owners and management have definitely established a wonderful culture, where everyone works as a team to give the best service and make sure their guests are taken care of. Creative menu, comfortable atmosphere and delicious food. Job well done. Thank you.
