Poyo + The Sprout Restaurant in St. John's

Went for brunch with my parents, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Would definitely recommend going on a Saturday as they have a brunch menu then which was excellent. Im sure we will be back soon.

Not worth the $$, Food was ok but nothing special at all but maybe we made wrong menu choices. $16 for a taco, I was hoping for homemade and flavourful but tasted bland. $6.50 for small cereal bowl of home fries. Self service ording and table setup. Small patio, mostly 2 seat tables, one picnic table(which is located under the pigeon nest). Not recommended for kids. You could have a nice sit down dinner with table service at a different restaurant for similar price

Poyo + The Sprout offers a cozy, beautifully decorated space with exceptionally friendly staff. The Avocado Sandwich is fresh and flavorful, while the Marinated Tofu Sandwich is perfectly seasoned and delicious. Great vegan food and excellent service in a charming setting. Highly recommended!

Super fresh and plenty of healthy/tasty options. Had the curry dish and I was blown away. Didn t mind the ordering setup as it was not typical, but effective nonetheless. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. The only gripe if you will were the wobbly benches. Other than that it s a must while visiting St. John s. Vegetarian options: Tasty and full of options.

Im not a vegan, but the food was surprisingly good! Good portion sizes too. But the atmosphere and service is very strange, you get your own water from a water cooler, and grab your own cutlery and napkins. Kinda weird.

I was visiting the city for a few days and took myself here for lunch the day before I left. I was planning to go to another place but it was closed and I m so happy it was because the food was incredible here. Everything was so fresh and delicious, the chill vibe inside was just what I needed on a rainy afternoon. I ordered the tomato basil soup, vegan Cesar salad and the Bravocado sandwich with hummus. It was exactly what I was looking for after days of eating nothing but deep fried food.

Vegetarian options: They only serve vegetarian and vegan options and and have a nice selection of very tasty menu items to choose from. Dietary restrictions: They are very accommodating and knowledgeable just ask and they are happy to help.

The tacos here are great, and theyve remained very consistent over the years Ive been coming here. Their prices are a little steep but not unreasonable.

Great place in an awesome location to grab some vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free food! Staff was amazing. The inside was adorable and cozy, and the food was great. The Bev taco with TVP was recommended by staff, and it was (soo good). The desserts werent bad either. Would definitely recommend if in the area. We ate here all 3 days we were in St Johns and couldve kept coming without getting tired of it. Delightful patio, reliably fast service, amazing variety of food, and you can have a beer too! I wish I could pick this place up and drop it in my neighborhood at home! Vegetarian options: Huge variety of vegetarian and vegan options! Most places dont go beyond the veggie burger, but these are creative dishes like Ive never tried before. Delicious! Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp down to the street-level patio, but a step to get into the restaurant and the washrooms are teeny tiny.

Food is not at all tasty. Ordered pad thai which was only sour with no other taste.

Truly enjoyed my experience at Sprout when I visited on both occasions. Finding a restaurant that serves vegetarian and vegan options was a breath of fresh air after struggling to find these options elsewhere in the city. The dishes I tried were very reasonably sized and priced, everything was fresh and well-prepared. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. I only wish Id found this spot sooner.

I first started coming to Poyo 4 years ago when I worked in the bar scene, staff would come for late night tacos- it was delish! I m lucky enough to have opened a studio and now I m right across the street from poyo and it serves as my saving grace when I haven t had the chance to make myself any dinner. Staff is really professional. Tacos are delicious. So happy to have a healthy yet filling restaurant so close by that continues to impress me time and time again!

Enjoyed a great dinner including enchiladas and tacos (avocado and bev). The food was fresh and very flavorful...really tasty. Reasonably priced plus casual, comfortable & quiet atmosphere.

I am glad that I went there as the food is exceptionally delicious!! I was happy to see that there are places which offer pure vegetarian & vegan food. Order Teriyaki Bowl and it was portioned well with brown rice. I wish that dining area was bit more option but not at big issue. Vegetarian options: It was peace of mind as I am strictly vegetarian and usually I have ask servers to make sure no meat touches

TRY BEVS TACO!! It can be difficult to find vegan/veg food that is so full of flavour, but poyo + the sprout does such a great job. I love their hummus and their tacos are amazing! The restaurant is pretty cramped, and I can imagine it would be uncomfortable if it was a full house - good thing they also do takeout!

Some of my favorite vegetarian food in the city. Vegetarian tacos are unreal. Even my meat eating friends like them. Everything on the menu Ive tried is great. Beet salad needs more beets, less lettuce, but still good.

Enchilada wasn t very good, it had mostly a sour taste. Expensive for what you get considering you need to get your own cutlery and water.

Absolutely phenomenal! Love to eat here whenever I can! Favourite thing on the menu is the enchilada made with TVP. The foods well seasoned and vegan friendly, and the staff feel very welcoming and friendly. Nice spot for dates or just to grab a bite with friends. Cant recommend them highly enough!

Kind staff, excellent quality food, but the business is primarily take-out. Best to use takeout rather than dine in. The total focus is on take-out clients. They were kind enough to lower the bright lights for a few minutes. I had just had laser surgery so the lights were difficult on my eyes, even with prescription grade sunglasses. Next time I will opt for take out!!!

Tacos and soup were excellent. Poutine was disappointing...missing cheese. Portions were generous. Price was medium. Overall a good value.

We were visiting from out of town and really enjoyed our dinner here. We dined in the restaurant which has several cozy tables indoors as well as outdoor seating. We had the burrito and chicken tacos both made vegan. They are not kidding about the spice on the habanero sauce, but that is to be expected and it was great. The burrito was delicious and filling. We often struggle to find vegan options when we travel but this place was great. We were stuffed so we didnt have dessert but they had several vegan and gluten free sweets on offer as well.

The tacos have a very oily fried shell that I was not aware about. I found the salads very basic. A confusing setup since you order and pay at counter, and supply yourself with water and cutlery, but they serve your meal. So is this a takeout or service with tip? Reasonably priced

Love this place. I m WFPB and now trying to cut out Gluten all for health reasons. I can always find something delicious at Sprout. Good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. It also has a little deck outside for nice warm days. A plus!!!!

Stopped here for dinner. Great Vegan options, the tacos were very well portioned and tasted wonderful. Got two different tacos in the small size and it was more then enough.

I ordered my meal from here on door dash, the food was prepared with care and looked fine. I ordered the soup of the day and the pad thai. The soup was pretty good, definitely not bad but not superb. But the pad thai was a mess. I ordered it without bell pepper, yet the bell peppers were in it and there was no sauce, so the noodles were sticking together and it was gross. There was nothing I could do to fix the absence of the sauce.

Good alternative drunk feed when downtown

Surprisingly, and inexplicably, this is my first time ordering from the Sprout (which I did using the Door Dash app). I have no idea why I waited so long after hearing such great things about their food but am I glad I finally did! The Gringo Taco I ordered (as suggested by a friend) was fantastic! One of the best (perhaps the best) vegan taco Ive had. I absolutely loved their tvp on it and I wish I knew their secret. The other toppings in it were perfectly balanced and very fresh as well and the tortilla was again, one of the best restaurant tortillas Ive ever had. Ill be trying every one of their tacos as well as the other entrees asap. Even the very simple marinated tofu appetizer was great and both were very reasonably priced! I am also looking forward to visiting the restaurant as it looks quite nice. Ill be sure to update this review after trying again. Keep up the great work!

The Sprout/Poyo is a staple and has been around as long as it has because its a beloved spot in NL. Poyo is the best thing to happen to late night food. The food is consistently great, the services is always great, the staff are always welcoming. Im not even a vegetarian and I love the food here!

I love the tacos!! They also have a number of other items on the menu which are delicious!! The staff is always friendly. The restaurant is clean with an overall inviting atmosphere. They also display art by local artist!

As a person with multiple allergies, I sought out Poyo for its vegan options, which alleviate some of the risk. Unfortunately, the as is menu items are still limited for a person with multiple allergies; however, I appreciated the server s willingness to modify their salad. Service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed.

LOVE THIS PLACE. I had the avacado taco - ahhh-mazing! I say you go. Cool, chill little place with no hustle and bustle. Absolutely perfect.

Not sure what to expect as I just stumbled onto this, but as a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised. I was even happier once my food arrived, which was under 5 minutes yet was piping hot and delicious. The pinnneaple taco was excellent.

Where do I start? I ordered a vegan ceasar salad that had vegan parmesan on it and was not dissapointed! It was perfect! Just as tasty as a regular ceasar. The toppings on my dish were all fresh and spiced just right! This place this is pretty chill with a cool vibe! Eating clean has never tasted so good! I highly recommend it. The staff was also very welcoming and kind! Some of the nicest people!

This is my new favourite restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and upbeat and the food is fabulous. You dont need to be a vegetarian to love the food...its not good vegetarian/vegan food - its just good food.

This place is awesome because its the type of food you crave after a long night of drinking but it doesnt cause you to wake up full of regret the next day. The portion sizes are good to, I personally love the burrito or enchiladas with a good buy of spicy habanero sauce. Usually not more than a few minutes wait. This is my go to, definitely beats poutine or street meat by a mile.

Great veggie meals. Our lunch was super tasty and the portions were huge.

Simple menu that doesnt overwhelm you buy cover a lot of variety. I went for the beet salad, but the Pad Thai looked so good! But it was too hot for that. Next time! Portions are more then plenty and the prices are very reasonable. A must try, will return for sure!

Myself and some friends went during Poyo hours and had some amazing and high quality vegan tacos. I personally enjoyed the pineapple taco, it was a flavour explosion and the crispiness of the shell was perfect, not hard enough to crack and splinter off but a solid crunch. The vibe inside is very cozy while also upbeat. Great place for friends, a casual date or meetup!
