Stella's Brasserie in St. John's

Very cute little spot with a great atmosphere. The food was excellent, the pork belly came with a pear chutney that was one of the best things I’ve eaten in some time. Highly recommend as a fancier dinner option.

We ate at Stella’s for the first time this evening and were really impressed! The service was great, the food was delicious (Arctic char, pork belly & scallops, fancy carrots, and Mont Blanc for dessert) and the cocktail was fab (Italian Greyhound). The decor and atmosphere are also lovely. Highly recommend!

Stella’s Brasserie was an amazing experience overall. The atmosphere was classy and cozy. Dishes are meant to be shared and they did not disappoint. The cocktails were all great as well. It is also a social enterprise, which supports Stella’s Circle.

We had family in from out of town and a few things to celebrate. The request was “a really good meal”. Having not been to Stella’s before we took a bit of a risk going to a restaurant for the first time with family based solely on the good things we had heard from some friends. We’ll let me tell you, that was the best decision we could have made. Our entire evening was so amazing, every detail, just fabulous. Stella’s is a small space, not a lot of tables, so the atmosphere was really lovely and intimate. The decor and design was perfection, such a big change from the HH Cafe. All of our food was INCREDIBLE start to finish. We ordered (everything to share): - Brioche bread buns and whipped butter (my fiancée said he could have eaten 20) - Lester’s Carrots - Tomato Tartine (our absolute favourite) - Cod Croquettes - Shrimp Tacos - Braised Short Rib - Pork Belly and Scallops - Duck Leg Conffi The food was beyond our expectations and well worth the cost because we all nearly rolled out of there. There were only a few things on the menu that we didn’t try, and truthfully I think we’ll be back very soon to try them because everything else was so incredible, we’re afraid we missed other great dishes. Service was impeccable, so were our drinks. Their wine list was nice, so we stuck with wine the whole night, but I regret not trying a cocktail, some classics, but a lot of interesting creations on there too! All in all, we had such a spectacular night. We were sad to see the Hungry Heart Cafe go, but what a gem Stella’s Brasserie is here in the city. I am certain it will become our go to spot for date night, especially when we have someone to impress. Thank you Stella’s! Keep doing exactly what you’re doing, it’s spectacular!

Incredible dining experience! Tried many things on the menu and all were delicious. Particular stand out were the short ribs. Wow. Highly recommend Stella's Brasserie!

Absolutely fantastic food — some of the best we’ve had in years. We can particularly recommend the duck confit, the short ribs, and the shrimp tacos. Each was amazing; each one surprised us with its rich depth of flavour. Wine list is solid; we liked the Petit Syrah. Desserts were solid, especially the homemade strawberry ice cream + matcha cake — though even a simple finish of chocolate and/or crème brûlée would have been excellent too. Service was warm and professional. We came late in the evening, close to closing, and felt no pressure at all. All in all, an absolutely top-notch experience we’ll recommend widely. We’ll be back!

Excellent food and service, and an upscale chill atmosphere. My only complaints are that we were clearly done with our meal and waited what seemed like a long time for a bill, but once I let someone know we needed it we got it quickly. Also we were seated so close to the bar that a person sitting at the bar practically had their backside in my wife's face, even though there were other places to seat us. It wasn't a problem, but just seemed odd.

Five stars for food, cozy glorious vibes and service! But ONE minor thing: as someone who is very sensitive to music, the playlist was giving royalty free light jazz for elevators and department stores. The vibe would be so elevated with a cool, classy, eclectic roster of rotating playlists! I will do it for FREE as curating playlists for specific vibes is one of my favourite activities ✅
