Food and Taste from South East
Eat where people ready to go above and beyond meet your requirements. A perfect meal made possible by Owner of the restaurant. Definitely will be visiting this place whenever in St. Johns.
Hands down the best Indian / Pakistani *Halal* food I've had in this city. I've been living in the city for 5 years and I have tried almost all the spots. I can say nothing compares to this one, the food is actually good, tasty and satisfying. I was impressed with the quality and the ingredients used, for the price offered. If you're looking to get delicious food, great experience without breaking your wallet this is the place to go.
the meal tastes fantastic! The grilled chicken, beef , and crispy fries are all cooked to perfection. The warm naan bread and dipping sauces add a nice touch, making it a complete and satisfying plate. Additionally, their beef curry really 🤤. Would highly definitely recommend! I will come soon again.
Not a big family business, and not a fancy restaurant. But you may expect good quality with some creativity. Tried 2 – 3 different foods there, and liked them.
Bold flavours, with just the right amount of spice. I love how you can taste the individual flavours within the food. Indus also has a samosa that just might be among the best in the city. Today was my first visit, but it won’t be my last, I look forward to trying more dishes.
Indus eatery is my absolute favourite Indian food in the city. Consistently delicious food, good prices, kind service, great hours. I love their parathas, they are the most delicious things I have ever eaten and I haven't had them near as good anywhere else. I order from this restaurant more than anywhere else and it's always a treat. As a broke college student, I love this place because it's extremely well priced for how much food you actually get, and it's GOOD, so flavourful and doesn't leave you feeling gross, which I personally don't see a lot. The portions are always large so I always have leftovers which means more time for studying less time spent cooking. Also their new location is adorable, seems great for eat in or take out. Check it out if you haven't already!!!
Absolutely delicious! Most flavourful food in the city. I had the tandoori chicken and my partner had the beef nihari (not pictured unfortunately, we ate it too fast!). The owner's mom had made the nihari just the night before and you can taste the love! Can't wait to come back and try another special!
Placed a phone order for pickup. They confirmed our number and how long it would take. They called back, within the given timeframe, to advise it was ready for pickup. The order was correct, and they even gave us a complimentary kheer! The food was hot (always good) wonderfully seasoned and well worth the $56 tax in - it fed 3 of us with leftovers for tomorrow. Will definitely be going back!
Always delicious, amazing staff. If you are looking to try something new and delicious, I cannot recommend Indus enough.
Delicious naan chicken wrap and spicy beef curry
Worst feed and service. Ordered chicken paratha roll and it was pathetic. No paper napkin in the package. Will never go there again.
Horrible food. Ordered on uber. Save ur money and spend elsewhere
Very bad behavior, call customer dogs
Order from SkipTheDishes, unbelievably small portions. Will never order again
I would fairly say its from the top 10 restaurants in St. John s.
Ordered the chicken platter via takeout. Food arrived hot! The taste was amazing - the spice blend was perfect. Indus Eatery is now on my fav list!
This is the best place in the whole st Johns city. The special dishes along with their regular menu are excellent. Excellent food and excellent service.
Good food. Small portion.
Sub par Indian food. The naan was clearly store bought, chickpeas undercooked, the lentils watery. Raita came in a dipping sauce container.
Dined here for the first time recently and really enjoyed the meal. Some of the best Chana masala anywhere and I ve had it all over the world. Delicious naan and paneer. The best part was chatting with the proprietor. He was warm and welcoming and sincerely wanted feedback. There was a variety of vegetarian dishes and he is working to expand the menu. Try it, I think you ll be pleased.
Decent authentic food.
The dessert is honestly one of the best i ve and food tastes amazing with good portions. I did however find the look of the food to not be as appealing as well as the restaurant as both could use a tune up to be more appetizing
Their service was extremely bad. Had to wait 20 minutes just to order food and the food was served after more 45 minutes. So how is it fair if you wanna go dine in and had to wait more than 1hour just to order and get the food its really sad and shameful. Then comes their food which is not fresh and as far as I can relate its not healthy either. So definitely not recommended. Thank you.
They provided incredibly poor service. Like the most basic thing which was water, they did not bother to serve that. Thus, it is most definitely not advised.
Really good food and amazing service!!
Amazing food! Great prices!!
What a lovely restaurant! Best food with friendly service and home atmosphere, definitely hope to go back.
Zero customer service.. rude staff.. place had a really bad smell
Love food here. Must try!!!
Good service. Really quick and I would recommend the mango lassi!!!!!! They are so friendly and always recommend you the best meal for you! Would visit again!!!!!
Amazing halal food Highly recommended Friendly and understanding staffs specially #Tanveer Food : 5/5
Excellent service by tanveer. We ordered beef biryani the taste was amazing and also the serving was great too. Must recommendedfor asian food
The Biryani Rice and Chicken were very good - asked the gentleman to make it a touch spicier and it had the perfect kick. Samosas with potatoes and peas were good as well. Will try the Naan next time and maybe the Tandoori Chicken. Very good and polite service - would return. They are open late so go upstairs and knock on the kitchen door if the bottom floor is empty.
They dont serve fresh food.
Very disappointed with the dine-in service. The heater appears to have been turned off, so it was too cold. The restaurant was filthy and had an unpleasant odour. Food did not meet expectations. Interestingly, the ratings indicate that it is a good restaurant! I am not sure how it gets a 4.1 rating! Another disappointment is that they do not have a tap payment system. You must pay in cash or via interac. I did not see it in any of the restaurants in St. Johns.
Very good environment and foods are tasty
We had a group dinner there and beef dish was superb. Very hospitable behavior from staff specially head cook. We will return to try different platers in future.
I like the rice they use. What rice do you guys use? Where can I buy it?
Best chicken biryani in City Must try, quantity also very huge ,and the service was very good all over best Indian food restaurant Food
The person who came to serve us was so disrespectful, didnt even let us ask question and shut at one of us. They do not have a good customer service. We did not even order after talking to the person who came to serve.
We four friends today went to your restaurant. While we were discussing about food with your waiter/attender, he was too disrespectful. He said that first, let me finish my speech with a rude voice. This is really unacceptable from a customer point of view. So we had to left your restaurant without ordering/eating anything.
I ordered veg combo through the skip . The daal was stinking , a day old . Worst taste , they are ripping out your money . Stay away from this restaurant. I used to order from here but I will stay away from them in future.
This is one of my favourite places to get Indian food. Everything is so tasty and its really nice to have some new kinds of dishes to try - the samosa chaat is so good, and the masala fries are a nice twist for including more Canadian style dishes. Really great too to have a good paneer curry.
Had their butter garlic naan and Chaplin kebabs.... absolute treat loved the taste and portions,,, will definitely come here again
The food was delicious and affordable, the service they gave was so good. Vegetarian options: Many options.
Best indian and pakistani food in the town Vegetarian options: Best veg options
I am giving only 1 star..Today I ordered food that is cold, too much spices in that even naan was cold and dry.. I wasted near about $40.. I will never suggest anyone about this restaurant.. thanks guys to make my dinner worst
Delicious!!! The chicken masala fries are really yummy, as was everything else we had! Big portions.
One of the best Paneer Butter Masala curry s in the town. 1000% better than pizza house and plus they are open till 2 AM which is better for students who are working late night shifts. Thank you management :) Vegetarian options: They have many veg options on the menu and the staff said they will be bringing in more dishes for vegetarian people.
Great food
Literally the best Indian meal in town. Definitely recommend!
I ordered chicken biriyani by door dash for my children..biriyani was delicious as well as the chiken was enough..she was happy to get it.. one thing i could recommendation that if spicy be less it would better for all adult with children..it seems too spicy. otherwise its was really good
If anyone wants an authentic biryani experience, I suggest looking no further than Indus Eaterys biryani. Starting with the blend of spices, the aroma of the biryani itself, the quality of the food and the packaging are off the mark. In quantity, it is more than enough to make one person complete. Highly satisfied with the food.
in the last 2 days, I tried their chicken biriyani (full) and their paratha chicken rolls and fries. I am honesty blown away! Quantity and the effort shown is top! 9/10 for sure !
Good food, affordable and best fries in town!!
An incredibly authentic meal. Will go there repeatedly. Well worth checking out!
Order chicken parantha roll from them via uber eats and onions were burnt and its was very much greasy and the qualitys of tge food was also very bad
Food is good but packed poorly, and when ordered online from hotel did not receive any cutleries with the order
This tiny eatery is easy to miss but well worth the visit. We ordered the chicken Biryani which was nicely spiced and not overly hot and the portion was generous. We will definitely return.
The food was delicious, they gave us plenty for two people order. Very reasonable price than any other restaurant. I will delicious order it again
Top notch friendly service. Food was hot and flavourful. Meat on carnivore platter surprisingly moist and tender, esp for takeout. Samosa Chaat was DELICIOUS
We ordered vegetarian samosas and were given beef. The woman assured us they were vegetarian (ground beans not ground beef!). Nope. Definitely beef. It is a menu option and the vegetarian samosas are cheaper and come in groups of 3 so would be much smaller than the ones we were given. We didn t trust her anyways and didn t eat them. We were still charged, the debit was down, and there was no change!
Top notch beef biryani in the town , beef masala very nice .
I went there at 3 but when it says it will open at 1
Awesome food for decent prices and friendly staff!
I used to love their carnivores platter. Seems like they have gotten lazy with the seasoning. The chicken are too damn oily, not enough seasoning in them. The kebabs are dry as Sahara desert. Felt really unwell after having them a couple of time.
This was the only place open after 9 but we are so glad we came! The owners and cook were super friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. Highly recommend!
Came here yesterday for mine and my fiancés anniversary dinner! LOVED it, we actually walked out of India Gate because of their mandatory 18% gratuity and chose to come next store to this place! BEST INDIAN PLACE IN TOWN. 100% will be back. Food
Im so glad I discovered Indus Eatery! I just wish I lived in St. Johns so I could enjoy it more often! I received friendly, attentive service throughout my lengthy stay. I ordered tandoori chicken, naan and rice. All were terrific. I also ordered 3 cups of chai -- which I liked so much, the chef gave me the recipe. I order chai every time I visit an Indian restaurant, but this was the best Ive had anywhere. The menu calls it traditional milk tea, which does describe it, but that doesnt hint at how exotic this drink actually is.
Amazing food. Nice service. Chef was great! Definitely going again
Ordered from Skip very late, so wasn t expecting much. Just a hot meal that wasn t fast food. And oh boy, it blew me out of the water. Absolutely delicious, perfectly packed. The curry and the rice were both in nice containers that did not leak. The naan was folded in tinfoil and all of it stayed perfectly hot. The curry had a lovely amount of spice to it, and I had chosen a tofu dish which the tofu was perfectly cooked. I must also mention the rice was fragrant and beautifully piece-y. No lumps or clumps. Smelled like they used saffron or something similar in cooking it. Needless to say I cannot wait to dine in, or get takeout directly from this restaurant. A perfect first experience and through a delivery app none the less. 10/10
Kacchi biriyani highly recommended. Best portion and quality in the city.
Ordered a large Biryani through Skip. Biryani portion was good with 3 chicken pieces. The Biryani had a weird smell, but I still gave it a go. Terrible Terrible Biryani! The chicken was bland and soaked in oil! The rice literally tasted like it was seasoned with oil, and just oil. **Disposed** I have ordered Biryani from Indus before and it was decent. Not sure if this was a one-time mess up, or if they changed their recipe. Regardless, wont order again.
very bad taste and was not cooked in fresh oil.
The best Indian restaurant in St Johns. I have ordered multiple times from here, and the food never disappointed me. The best thing is the consistency, their food is consistently good. The design and atmosphere are great, and the staffs are super friendly. Highly recommended.
Beautiful ambience, food was delicious and their service was top-notch to say the least. Would recommend
Visiting from Toronto, must try Indus eatery, delicious food and owner (Mr Tanveer is very honest &friendly.
Great service. Kind and informative with good recos. Got our take-out ready in 8 minutes. The mixed sabzi is so flavourful. Vegetarian options: Small selection of veg options but they are very tasty.
Best Halal cuisine in St.Johns
I had a disappointing experience at Indus Eatery. The Chicken Karai I ordered was dried, cold, and seemed quite old. The naan I received were hard, as if they had been reheated. To make matters worse, the person at the restaurant was incredibly rude and refused to accept any responsibility for the poor quality of the food. When I inquired about the chicken karai, he simply stated that it had been prepared in the morning and the gravy had dried out. Overall, it was a disappointing visit with bad food and even worse service. I wont be returning.
Great food with good service at a reasonable price. Overall 5/5
Food that goes beyond excellency. Best restaurant in the whole of St. Johns.
Had my second meal at Indu Eatery. Food is delicious! Felt satisfied without being over full. I am not a veggie lover but the chef/owner even made the veggies tasty. Thats no small feat. Staff were friendly and helpful with menu selection. The owner came out to check on us personally and was very friendly. We will definitely be back. On my 1st visit I ordered the Chicken Biryani with Raita sauce. It was to due for!! Tonight I tried the medium Tandoori chicken with garlic sauce and Naan bread...also delicious!
It was my first meal at Indus, but it wont be my last. I had the chicken Shawarma with Naan and garlic sauce. It was delicious, hot and fresh. The service was very personable and attentive. The chef checked on us and introduced himself. It was a very nice touch. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add photos and descriptions to the menu offerings. Overall, a great meal.
The best shawarma served hot and fresh and the sauce is to die for. The owner is so kind and works so hard. Would recommend for sure :)
Went there for the first time last night, ordered take out, he explained that it would take a hour because he was just starting the cook. I was fine with this because that tells me that its prepared from scratch and fresh. The food was great, I make and eat alot of Indian food and love trying different places. Will indeed return.
As most of the food is not fresh or tasty, I only order Masala Fries from here as that s the only good food here & it s filling as well. Today I had ordered 3 Masala Fries & the guy working today on 23rd Jan just probably split 1 by 3. It was so less wth
Absolutely delicious and the service is so sweet and kind! Tried them by chance but will definitely be back again!!
Never ever place order again. Very bad customer service over the phone and unrespectful customer service for take out.
I have to give this place a 1 star review. The customer service is great, but the extensive wait is such a killer. Pick up times are on average 20 minutes (minimum) before the food is actually ready. It takes way longer than it should, and every time Im here.
Google and their profile says that they are open till 11 pm but they stop serving at 9 pm. Went there at 9 pm and the server said that they are focusing on Skip and Doordash orders and cant serve us in person. I was too dumbstruck to even argue with the server. Will not return.
Received no rice, had no spice at all and a pile of burnt Naan bread. Would not recommend.
Frozen naans, nothing taste like indian food, just a waste of money
The service is 5 stars for sure, friendly staff and well balanced amazing flavors. However the portion size for the price was quite dissopointing. Ordered the weekly special and a wrap. The entire special was in a small soup cup with 3 tiny peices of chicken that were mostly bone. And the wrap contained very little toppings. The flavors were amazing though just not worth the price for such small portions.
Pretty small portions, food has little taste, not spicy, maybe to make Canadians happy. Way too expensive for the actual quality of food you get.
Food is not tasty
worst food
We did a quick take out the night we arrived. The biryanis were great, as well as the naan.
The butter paneer is the best in the city. Sooo much flavour, not too spicy , perfect portion when you order the veg combo. The naan was a bit yeast-tasting, almost undercooked but I still Ate it Great job!
The food was spectacular, will for sure be coming back
I hated their food. The portion of their samosa chat was extremely small for the price they charge. The paneer butter masala was extremely oily and their naan was stale.
Probably because we went there before closing . It was not a good experience.
Amazing, what a great spot to have around the corner. Beef Nihari was tender and the lemon and coriander sauce excellent. The Chicken Kaharii had a bigger kick but that didn t stop me from mopping up all the gravy with my naan.!Reasonable prices and ample portions. Already looking forward to bed lunch tonight with these leftovers. Highly recommended.
Just devoured the best meal in St.johns! Samosas were absolutely delicious. The beef nihari with naan was to die for! Thank you so much and I will definitely see you again!
Absolutely delicious food and great service!
Awesome place, great food and great staff.
Best food ever , I took biryani chicken , it was the best biryani i have ever ate in a while, specially in newfoundland st johns , all famous Indian restaurants. Are not as good as this place, im really happy i found such restaurant. So good , the chicken was fresh , the rice was full of flavor, Absolutely will come again. Thank you so much chef.
I came me and my pregnant wife , she is so picky about indian food , but not this time , me and her were really happy with the delicious food ( chicken biryani ) we were afraid to be disappointed as we used to feel that way because of other indian restaurants in town, but this time was a really different experience. Fresh food full of beautiful spices. Without forgetting about the person that prepared our food , he was very nice and polite guy, asked about the food how it was ( which rare to have somebody nowadays care about their customers and their opinions ) which i really loved. My advice if you like indian food, do not hesitate, this is the best place you will ever be in. Also its HALAL. Absolutely not the last time .
Great service great food
Great place for dine in ,Biryani was superb
Very nice, my chicken biryani was well cooked but the portion couldve been better.
I ordered the beef platter for the first time. The food was really amazing. The portions were just perfect. Beef was tender and the gravy complemented so well. Loved the food overall.
Very bad I ordered paneer butter masala and nan but didn t get single pieces of paneer instead of nan they sent me company made pita breads I also ordered spring rolls those are full of oil even didn t serve with any sauce very very bad wasted 48 $
Very friendly
Good
Good place for Indian and Halal food. Reasonable price and good taste. Have a good experience with them.
The quality and taste of the food are not good. Moreover, it is very less in quantity. They put so much oil in food. I just wasted my money.
My first time here. Excellent service, Maliheh I think it is spelled, and good atmosphere. The best beef samosas that I have had since working in Alberta!! The sweet treat was really good too. Gulab Jaman, had it before elsewhere, but this was really good. Yummy Definitely going back! Thank you so much! Made my day today. Chris
Tasty food , best ambience and reasonable proces . Food was served right on time . I would. Highly recommend .
Great food.
Its good place. But I have felt that the quantity is a bit less. Food was delicious. Good variety of menu too.
I always get the chicken handi with naan bread and its so consistently delicious. Im also eternally in this restaurants debt for introducing me to peach Barbican, the best beverage Ive ever drank.
Ordered the beef platter and some veg pakora online and it was all fantastic. The beef curry was especially delicious and spicy. We will definitely be back!
Halal Pakistani and Indian restaurant
Very delicious, timely service, owner is extremely friendly, ordered carnivores platter and it was superb
Excellent food and good amount of portions. Will surely visit again.
Amazing food
Good place to eat chicken biryani and tandoori chicken. Try gulab jamoon it s really yummyy
Great atmosphere and tasty food! Wait time wasn t too long either! Will definitely return
Good food even tho the chapli kebab didnt taste authentic however the paratha roll was on point and filling.
Got this for delivery recently, and though the beef masala tasted great the quantity was disappointing. I felt as if my money was wasted to tell the truth. If only they served this with a large portion of rice it would have been 5 stars..
Ordered mix veg and naan. Very disappointed .
A bit on the expensive side, but worth it. Tandoori chicken has a nice kick, apps are good, and the veggie dishes taste great.
The chicken was good. Everything else was mediocre at best. One girl running the show, she did a good job but the food just wasnt worth it. The biryani rice was hard and didnt seem fresh. The kebabs tasted like old oil. The chicken had good flavor and the naan was good
Amazing experience and hospitality from Usman working hard late at night.
The people running this restaurant were very kind but the food wasn t good .Tandoori chicken was okay really not much flavour.Rice was not hot or fluffy.Vegetables were cold & overcooked.Samosas were okay but not served with a dip of any kind.Would have preferred to be able to order a meat dish & a vegetarian dish in the meal combo.
Delicious and affordable food, and friendly staff. Highly recommended (try the beef platter, it s my favorite). The food is Indus-scribably good!
Went there with a friend yesterday. Good quality food and tastes good too. Bill was paid by the friend so dont know about prices. The best part about our evening was the young student working there named Usman. He was so accomodating to our needs as we couldnt bring ourselves to decide upon what to order. But he was super helpful and very pleasent to deal with.
Authentic Pakistani food! Gotta try more of their menu but biryani, chicken handi and kebab wrap were 10/10!! Good job guys!
Fresh and spicy food with so much flavor! This is very authentic and delicious food. The mango pickle is amazing, also recommend the paratha & the mix sabzi!
Tried their beef platter, was amazing!
Borderline robbery and terrible service! We were given menus with prices on them. We ordered 3 medium chicken handi platters at $11.99, and three drinks at $1.99. The items we got were not what we ordered, and the drinks never showed up. But we figured wed try what was given to us, because we didnt have time to send it back. Then we were charged $19.99 for each meal! I was distracted and foolishly rang in the Visa before I noticed. When I asked the guy to show me the bill, and each item was $19.99, I showed him the prices on the menu he gave me. He just said old thats the old menu, we need to update that. No refund was possible apparently. He just offered us even more food. Insane. This place used to be great.
very good biryani taste and quantity wise
Excellent customer service! Good portion! Excellent food!
Visited for free biriyani and free dessert.. Ended up spending money there. Good Job so far.. Keep up the good work.
I am going to keep it short - this place feels like my/ our time in Bangaldesh. This is our spot for a good time now!!!
Good start. Can definitely use some more effort with food. Interior is welcoming and cozy. Biryani could use some more attention, lacked a bit of flavour and texture. Pakoras were 7/10.
Highly recommended! They have some very unique recipes. Perfect balance of taste. The smile they have while serving food is a cherry on top, quality of food they serve is amazing!
Delicious food and excellent ambiance!!! Worth eating here!
Fantastic food and hospitality. Great ambience of south asian aesthetic and real touch spices and cooked delicacies with perfection and cullinary mastery. Definitely recommend to visit the restaurant again, not sure about anyone else but indus eatry u have got a loyal customer. Thanks and keep up with good work.
Had the Chicken Handi today and it was exactly how I expected it to be- creamy, amazing quantity and so much of flavour. It was surely a great experience enjoying the delicious chicken handi with a side of Naan bread. Overall, great management and nice environment . 5/5
Great price and great food
Food is
The food was very good. A bit less salty. Everything was nice.
Nice spot to have in the neighborhood. Friendly service and decent pricing.
Very good quality / quantity for price. Quite clean. Excellent attentive floor staff
Had the chicken handi with nun bread also had the kebab with it. The handi was flavorful and creamy. Portion size was good and found the price to be reasonable too. Happy to have found a new indian restaurant that is halal
Awesome Ambience. Finally had the taste of Indian food after a while
Great food with good ambiance.....recommended for some good south Asian cuisine
Absolutely amazing traditional halal food, Serving sizes and price seem too good to be true. Beef Samosas are the best Ive ever had.
It s a place like back home and nostalgia!
Had the medium chicken shawarma platter ($12). Food tasted great! Came with fries, some carrots, pickled cucumber, and a few pieces of naan. Portion was very small for the price however and I say that as someone who doesn t eat large portions. As a poor student I won t be going back but I recommend it if you can afford the price.
Very disappointing taste
Great vegitarian options. I especially recommend the pakoras
Great food! I had a carnivore platter and it was delicious and very filling for me! I tried their biryani, chicken handi as well which had a very good balance of spices. Also the service is really good, Must try for everyone
Excellent experience. Tasty food and huge portions. Good ambience.
Delicious food at an excellent price! Me and my family really enjoyed our meal. Owners were very friendly and even gave us a free dish to try! Will definitely eat here again!
We had take out food for four adults: Pakuras and samosas for starters. Beef masala, chicken handi, tandoori chicken and a chick pea curry with rice and naan for the main. Gulab jamun for desert. It was absolutely superb except that we didnt care for the home made naan. Just not our taste. bur overall, so flavourful and the quality was superb. The entire cost: less than $100. Remarkable! We will go back again. SOON.
Very delicious food. Good people. Budget friendly authentic south asian food.
Nice place with good friendly service. Love destiny style and pakoras.
Great ambience!
