I was so looking forward to try this place however I was so disappointed. First off the womans bathroom was sooo cold like outhouse cold at -5. There were space heaters in the back of the resturant and I understand why now because the place is freezing we were at a booth by the kitchen and omg I just couldn't get warm. Now for the food there is alot of things on there menu I wanted to try I went qoth the prime rib Oscar special. Presentation awesome veg was good loaded mashed awesome however prime rib had some sort of pickled onions on it which I love but they smelt and tasted rancid. I took one bite of my prime rib has some onion on it and instantly turned my stomach. I was done after one bite didn't want to touch anything else. Manager came by asked how was I told him honestly he went on to explain that's how they are suppose to be etc. I politely said I'm sorry can't eat it now and just packed it up. He did offer to remake but honestly my stomach was just so turned off.watreesses were awesome ended up speaking to one explained what happened she said she loves they and then actually went back and tried them and sure enough she agreed something wrong with them. They took the prime rib off my bill. Person with me had ribs they were not the best from athuraday and just very underwhelming and they love ribs. Loaded mashed agreed were awesome. There is so many things on menu here I would love to try but honestly not sure I'll ever go back between peeing ice cubes and just can't get past the bad onions it's a shame. Ambiance is love but they do need ro fix up few tired things such a shame could be such a good place and we're excited because kitchen smelt great and waitresses are best I've seen in a long time.
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here last night. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were in for a lovely experience. The decor and atmosphere of the building already sets the tone for an intimate experience. The piano player and fireplaces only add to it. We had shrimp and calamari for our appetizer, perfectly cooked and served with a delicious dip. Our entrees were just as amazing. For desert we had chocolate cake, and we'll be measuring all future cakes to this one. Our server was Jessica. She was extremely attentive, and made sure we enjoyed every second of our experience. The best part was talking fishing at the end of it. We look forward to the next time we are in town and can pop in. Scott and Alisha
We recently celebrated my partner's birthday at this fantastic bistro and we absolutely loved our time here. The menu is super unique, with common dishes made in a special way that really stands out. Every bite was delicious and you can tell there's a lot of care and thought process gone in their cooking. The staff were great—friendly and attentive. They've got a good beer selection too, which is a nice bonus.I was really happy with the variety of yummy vegetarian options. We were with a bunch of friends here, so tried many starters including the fusion ones like avocado bomb, corn cob, which tested great. The highlight for me was the Chicken Parmesan Risotto—it was so tasty and the portion size was perfect. The kids' menu is one of the nicest I've seen, making it a great spot for families. Overall, this bistro is a gem with its unique menu, delicious food, and great service. Highly recommended!
Celebrated my birthday at the Bistro with some friends, my partner and 2 year old, and felt like I ended up getting an actual party! The team was extremely warm and welcoming, and the food was divine! Many of the menu items like the corn ribs and the Avocado chaat were very innovative, and The Bistro does wonders with your regular dishes like steaks and burgers as well. One of the highlights for us was the baked brie with cranberry jam. My 2 year old also loved the food and exploring the restaurant. The team was very lovely with her. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to celebrate something special or have a relaxed meal while exploring the Elgin/Port Stanley area.
Have never been disappointed with the food at The Bistro over the years despite ownership changes. The restaurant is well maintained, staff are personable & food is great. You’re guaranteed a great dining experience at The Bistro!
Highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service quality was truly exceptional, I can’t wait to come back. We tried Avo mini bombs one of their signature dish and its tasty too!! Also we tried cream of mushroom soup, chicken PRIMAVERA and Chicken Penne Primavera everything was very delicious love the taste, quantity, presentation, good ambiance and amazing customer service.
Overall a decent quality meal, yet steak came out medium-well, not medium. The quality of beef is 'choice', at best; lean. Very tasty mashed potatoes however 👍🏻, and veggies were crisp as well. Food came out a tad late, but I digress and would return perhaps for some pasta or burgers next time.
Wonderful experience!! Great ambience with live music, food was excellent and service was amazing. It was my wife’s birthday and they made it very special, they even brought a complimentary cake with candles on it for the birthday. Loved the whole experience and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. 5 star experience 😃
The food was not good. Service wasnt great Evening atmosphere was nice Food : 1/5
Excellent Food and Customer service!!!
Thought we would try a new place for date night, we decided to give the Bistro a try after hearing recommendations from a few people. Server was pleasant, listed the days specials, answered a few questions and even stated the meal portions are quite ample. We place an order with spinach dip as a starter and main course was Veggie Thai Green Curry and French Dip. We were surprised when the main course arrived as we had not received the starter. As the mains arrived, we thought we would overlook the missing appetizer and order dessert after. The Veggie Thai Green Curry was tasty but the serving size was anything but ample, I still felt hungry after. The French Dip was not as expected, the shaved prime rib lacked seasoning and the Swiss cheese seemed and teased like it was processed cheese. When the server asked us about the meal, we mentioned the French Dip didnt meet my wifes expectations, the concerns seemed to be just dismissed. We decided not to order dessert and just get the bill. When bill arrived, it was for the full amount with no acknowledgement of the less than spectacular meal. After paying, we left still hungry and we will never be going back. Just an aside, the piano man was great, a joy to listen to and had a great selection of songs.
What a great spot. A beautiful yet laid back place. The service was stellar early on a Saturday afternoon. The food was tasty and generous portions. Highly recommend! Food
Food is great Service is great All you can eat ribs on Thursday for 25 bucks. Butter chicken is great. Food : 5/5 |
Service was excellent! Dinner was delicious. Great atmosphere, nice live music with dinner. Will definitely be back.
My wife treated me to a birthday dinner, food was great and the service was even better!
Appetizers were so cheaply made but not cheaply priced. Cheesey garlic bread was Texas toast drizzled with cheese spread and unmelted Parm. Very unimpressed. $50 poorly spent. Cancelled entrees and left.
The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Even the manger went out of her way to talk to us. It was a great way to start our vacation.
Great food, great atmosphere, incredible staff! Will definitely return!
A great little spot in St. Thomas with good food and great atmosphere!
Excellent food and service. Great selection from the extensive menu. Prices quite reasonable.
Have gone to the Bistro in the past and it was pretty good, nice atmosphere to the restaurant and servers were great, food was decent. Ordered take out and got a french dip for myself and my wife. They were horrible. Meat seemed reheated and the sandwich was tiny. Im not a big guy who values massive portion sizes but I could easily eat 2 of those with room to spare. Quality and quantity were not there at all, really put me off ordering from the Bistro again to be honest
This place is great, it was a very enjoyable experience, the food service and atmosphere were great. The live music was a nice touch and we really enjoyed it
I ordered the baked cappelletti for takeout on my lunch hour and when I got there the host informed me that it is no longer on their menu but they made it for me anyhow and charged me for a similar dish that they have now which is $10 more than the cappelletti because it has meat in it. I didn t have time to argue as I had to get back to work and needed something to eat or I might have left it. I feel this should have been explained to me on the phone. $30 is ALOT for just pasta and cheese. And when I asked for extra Parmesan cheese, they only gave me less than half of a small container full I used to like this place but I won t be back after this.
My husband and I stopped in for dinner one night. The food was excellent and portions are a good size. I had the lamb chops and they were amazing!! I have never had lamb chops before and had no idea that I liked lamb but they were fantastic. They came with roasted potatoes and a greek salad. I do not usually repeat the same order in a restaurant but it will be hard not to. My husband had the ribs. They were fall off the bone tender and came with fries and slaw. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with excellent suggestions for dessert. We will be back!!
Always love eating here. The menu keeps getting better and better each time they try something new.
Enjoyed having dinner with my friend such a relaxing atmosphere with great food and music.
It was just a quick stop while waiting for my husband at the barber. Their ale soup was Delicious! When he came he had it as well. Okay, I had the lobster roll as well. They have prime rib on Friday and Saturday. We will be back.
Yum! Amazing chicken and lamb was to die for.
Excellent piping hot good. Super friendly and attentive staff!
Wow! All I can say. I visited here with a friend, we were greeted right away and the waitress offered to sit us in front of the fireplace. Noone else was seated in that section so we had lots of privacy. Food was phenomenal, I ordered the Lobster melt sandwich, to die for. Alongside sweet potato fries and a lava cake with icecream. If Im ever in St Thomas again, I am definitely visiting this place and telling all my friends about it!
Great food and the kindest people.
Fantastic staff, great food and portion size and a really nice atmosphere
Just finished dinner at The Bistro, terrible experience from start the finish. We ordered entrees and an appetizer to share. The cauliflower appetizer reeked of fake smoke and store bought salad dressing. We had to share the one fork on the table to eat. The server forgot to bring us our drinks. Entrees came. The fish and chips were burnt and dry. The turkey was the strangest texture and somehow dry despite being covered in gravy. We needed to ask for cutlery, as our one fork had been cleared. The side gravy we ordered never came. We sent back both entrees. We were told they couldnt take the fish off the bill, even though we didnt eat it. We were charged for the gravy we never got. Will not return, do not recommend. Unacceptable, this is not hospitality.
A Must Place to have dinner, with great people to take care of all your wants, with a smile & happy dameaner. Enjoy!! For Yall are in for a Treat. Thomas from St.Thomas Food
We got there a few minutes early for a 7pm Saturday reservation and were seated right away. There was a gentleman playing piano music that contributed to a lovely atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. I have the pork schnitzel parmesan from the winter menu. I couldnt help but eat the whole thing... Delicious! A lovely evening out. Thank-you!
Great service, great food
Excellent food.. super service
Glad to see the menu has changed since my last visit offering lots of choices. I am happy the lunch cards are back; 7th lunch $10 off. We will be coming back often
Waitress was great food was ok poutine advertised as using cheese curds was shreaded something else they forgot a whole meal at our table it came out late we were all done eating when that plate arrived atmospher was great nice fire places live music I might stick with specialized drinks and appitizers and go somewhere else for full meals next time.
So very disappointed after years of the greatest menu and food in the area. The server as always was the best unfortunately the food took 2 hours to come to the table and then it was cold to the touch. Everyone around us was restless after an hour witH absolutely no food coming to any one in the room. When it finally did arrive the extremely long wait was definitely not worth the time. It will be a long time before we return, to which was our most favourite spot in St Thomas.
Really good food, nice atmosphere and pleasant service.
Unfortunately not good wondering if there s new owners, we have loved the cheddar ale soup for years and the last 3 or four times ordering it keeps getting worse and worse, last time was like water, also orderd a wrap and only the first few bites had chicken in it, not usually one to leave a bad review but my hopes are they will bring back there original recipe and and try to improve too keep there reputation, The nice guy working told me many customers are complaining about the soup and also want the original soup back as well so I know I m not the only one! When your spending almost 50 bucks for a couple soups and a wrap it better be good if you want repeat customers! Sweet potato fries were good though!
Much better food with the new management. The beef dip was great.
Food and service were both great.
decent but pricy
First-time customers, we ordered the French dip sandwiches, just over $38 for two. I think you could get better sandwiches from Tim Hortons and for less than half the cost. Unfortunately, we will not be returning .
Beautiful food
We have wanted to go to The Bistro for a while now and finally had our chance. WOW we were not disappointed! 10/10 for this St Thomas Gem! From the moment we arrived and through our entire dinner the service was amazing and the food was incredible. Our server Tahnee was so super sweet and fun, we loved every moment of our visit here. We went with the shrimp as an appetizer YUM YUM YUM. The portion was impressive! For dinner we decided on the daily special, salmon stir fry and wow it was jam packed with flavour and the salmon was cooked to perfection. You MUST also try the burger and fries. One of the best burgers we have had in a long time. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and ended with a cheesecake for dessert. The bill was more than fair for what we ordered and the generous portions sizes. The chefs were also so super nice and fun. We stopped to say thank you and to let them know this was one of the best dinners we have had In a long time. We will most definitely be going back very soon! Highly recommended.
I was disappointed with our most recent experience here. Ordered coconut curry, the portions were very small for a meal. We ordered beef curry, to my surprise the very few pieces of beef looked like small pieces of cold cuts. I was here in the summer last year and the lamb curry had actual chuncks of lamb and thats what I expected. Very disappointed ans wont go back.
Great experience. Excellent menu options and great portion size. The staff were excellent as well. Will be returning soon!
I wanted to like this place, the atmosphere was nice and the staff were kind and the waitress was attentive, however the service was terrible as well as the food. We went for Valentines day, made reservations for 6:30 and waited over 2 hours to get our Entrees at 8:38 pm after watching people come in and get their food before us. When the food finally did come it was cold, the plate was hot in spots as if it was microwaved, potatoes were bland. and my steak was overcooked. Not to mention, by the time it came we werent even hungry just tired and ready to leave. We will not visit again.
Went here for valentines day dinner. What a little gem in St.Thomas! The food was amazing. Our server Ursula was honestly the best. She made the entire experience even better. We ended up leaving at 10:30 which they close at 9, we had never felt rushed whatsoever. Truly a great place to eat and drink! Thank you Ursula and the Bistro!
If you want well prepared food and are tired of same old, same old this is the place. We are from London and when we are in St Thomas we have to stop there.
The food was great and the service was good. The food took a long time to come out because of an apparently large group that got priority.
Incredible food and ambience. The owner came to check in with us and to offer us some some samplers of the soup of the day- delicious!!! Overall a great experience!!! Would highly recommend:)
The best place around for a great meal and terrific wait staff. I will be back!!!
Really liked everything we tried. Fantastic deal on half-price appetizers at lunchtime, good salads, extremely friendly and helpful staff. We tried several dishes and they were all good. My partner ate the schnitzel and it was a large portion and very good. We will be back!!
Loved the food here! They have a lot of good options in drinks too.Great ambience. Courteous and polite service. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Thai green Curry is the best!! Avo bombs are a must try!
Went for our anniversary dinner last night, it was all perfect. The chef has mad skills, and Ursula gave us awesome service. Check out her food photography as well!
Blackened Salmon was delicious. The staff was very friendly.
Came here for dinner and the food and atmosphere was great. Ursula our waitress was wonderful and helped us in choosing the right meal. Since it was a Monday, it was quite slow in the kitchen so meals took some time to prepare which was understandable. Just a heads up for those looking to dine out on a Monday evening.
Stopped in for lunch today. Gluten free options were NOT SO MUCH available. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options were not so available or visible on menu. Food : 5/5 |
Fave restaurant in St. Thomas. Delicious food, reasonably priced, candlelit. Last visit, there was a slight wait for entrees but worth it. Pic of caramel appletini.
Very nice ,upscale but casual restaurant with very tasty food, we will be back.
very friendly greeting and great service! flat bread was super yum! now which chocolate dessert to I pick?
The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious and had a great menu. Atmosphere very relaxing and comfortable.
Way to ruin a great restaurant! They basically changed the entire menu. Many different dishes that we enjoyed for years gone. Way to run a restaurant!
Nice staff and very good food.
A true surprise. After a suggestion to try out out, i finally made it there. They offered gluten free options for a hamburger, which were delicious! I have not had a hamburger this good in ages, a definite must try! Service was fast and friendly. If you are in the area, definitely worth a visit. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Great food, nicely decorated, plenty of space for larger than 2 gatherings. Staff quite pleasant and approachable. Prices affordable. Parking can be a little tricky.
It seemed like a good place to eat, but when I went on Friday afternoon, at 3:30 pm, I waited to be seated in the nearly empty restaurant long enough to read through the window. I saw what assumed to be an employee wander toward what I assumed to be the kitchen entrance due to the open concept, and not notice me. I finished reading the menu, put it back in the bin of menus, and left. I know 2-4 pm is the dead zone as I work in the kitchen myself, but I would have at least liked someone to notice me and say theyd be with me in a moment...
Came across this restaurant when we were looking at houses in the area. Stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, the server was friendly, and the restaurant really cozy. Hope to go back again.
The ambience of the restaurant was truly mesmerizing with a very warm welcome by the staff. The theme of the restaurant was an art itself. Since we went for the first time, our table attendant was really proactive and gave us great recommendations for the entire meal course. All the dishes were lip smacking which made our evening a wonderful experience. Overall the hospitality was great and we would come back again as well as recommend others too. A big thank you to the entire team.
I wish I took a picture to do this post justice , I ordered the lamb chops . It came with a healthy portion of Greek salad and Greek style potatoes, it was delicious ! The waitress had a beautiful accent and very friendly indeed
Awesome taste for the food I tried. (Flatbread canadian lover) Give it a try.
Love, love, love The Bistro. Its a gem. The staff are incredibly friendly but non- intrusive, giving you time to enjoy your experience and never feel rushed. The food is consistently delicious with plenty of variety to please a wide range of tastes. The brick walls, warm colours and bright front windows all add to make a perfect atmosphere. The desserts...outstanding. I travel from London to St. Thomas to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. Keep it up Bistro staff!
We were greeted warmly by a lovely woman (shame on me, Ive forgotten your name!)then happily served by Tawny! There were 5 in our party and we all enjoyed our Friday afternoon lunch of soups, salads, fries, wraps and sandwiches..served in good time, fresh and delicious. They have several desserts and we chose an amazing caramel crunch confection..layers of cream, meringue, nuts and caramel! Its baked in Aylmer! Definitely a must visit bistro in St Thomas.
Delicious! It was busy of course because of Mothers day but the service was great and they even offered a free app because the kitchen was slammed. Our waiter was fabulous. We all loved our dinner and drinks. I took one star away from the atmosphere as the booth bench was uncomfortable and the table was high. Vegetarian options: Cheese Cappelletti...was delicious and paired well with my glass of Riesling. My sister in law got the curry and it was available without meat.
Mothers day Dinner Pros: Food was delicious, presentation , servings were a good size ! Cons: Wait times/busy, lacking menus and we were seated under a draft so it was freezing (front left corner) but they did give us a free small app for the wait. A little pricy, but overall would 100% come back
Dinner on Mothers day Pros: Food was delicious, servings were a good size. They acknowledged the slow service and gave us a small free app (samosas) Cons: very busy/loud, not enough menus, and atmosphere was nice, but it was freezing (had to get a scarf from the car)
Great place to eat
Really excellent experience! Great atmosphere, quality food, and even better service (thank you Jessica for making our family lunch extra special!). You folks are great and we will certainly be back when in the London/St Thomas area!
Definitely would go back, all round good experience
My Hubby & I were visiting St. Thomas and randomly picked The Bistro to have dinner, it was definitely the right choice! We both some pineapple sunsets & burritos. I had the chicken baked burrito with salad and my Hubby had the beef baked burrito with fries. This meal hit the spot! My salad was really tasty with the honey onion dressing. The fries were nice and crispy. Portions were perfect, I felt like we got our money s worth. The staff was very welcoming & friendly and service was great. I definitely recommend visiting The Bistro!
Hands down!! Best place in the area!! Amazing food, quick service, great atmosphere. Very quiet when we went during the week which was perfect. Highly recommend!
We went to The Bistro 2x over two evenings. Four different meals, the food was excellent and the price was more than fair. The tandoori chicken wings and teriyaki stir fry were terrific meals. Food
Very delicious, fantastic service, and great company! Highly recommend!
What a lovely place, the menu is diverse, I had bruchetta and sweet potatoe fries...SO good. The waitress was really sweet and attentive. Highly recommend a try! The building could use an up grade, but doesn t affect the great food. The decor is cool.
I recently dined at this restaurant that exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made me feel welcomed and valued throughout my visit. The star of the show, however, was the food. The fish and lamb chops were simply divine, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delightful experience for my taste buds. If youre looking for a restaurant with impeccable service and mouthwatering fish and lamb chops, this place is a must-visit.
Great place for a tasty meal.
Food was amazing!! Staff was so friendly! Bistro was clean, so beautiful and they had live music! Loved it all!
4 yrs ago I gave a 5 star. Flew in from Alberta for a bday dinner and we came in from Hamilton. The menu has changed and not for the best. Few chicken dishes and the price for the quality was ridiculous. Now the appetizers were excellent. The chicken pasta meal had very little chicken, lamb was tasteless, buttered chicken was more like soup and little chicken. Sad to see this for a place that was one of my favs. I assume they changed owners or the cook.
I was disappointed. Place had no music playing on speakers, the windex was out on the food counter across from us, one of the servers was dressed slopily in what looked like pyjama pants. Food was mediocre. Taste was decent and speed was good but quality was just ok. Wouldn t recommend
There was construction directly in front of the entrance so we had to call about access. They gave clear directions for their rear entrance. Kitchen staff were delayed so we were given a complimentary appetizer. Very friendly and professional service. Good food. We recommend the cheddar bacon and ale soup.
Great tasty food. Good choices for kids
We eat here from time to time to support our local businesses. I must say that the food is top notch; good quality, and generous portions. We are lucky to have this restaurant in St. Thomas. Thank you! Food : 5/5
We had such a great experience at The Bistro. Service was outstanding, food was delicious and the piano man was amazing. I highly recommend this place. We will be back for sure.
My sister and I took our aunt and uncle to celebrate their anniversary. We all had something different - all delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return for a special occasion or an everyday meal.
Sitting here for 2 hrs still waiting for dinner not acceptable
Havent been in two years and I used to have high regards for this place, new owners butchered it. Food was gross, wait time of an hour for a simple salad.
I have been visiting this place for a year now and they dont fail to impress! The food was served a bit late during this thanksgiving weekend but the management was courteous enough to compensate our time with a lovely appetizer and a wonderful dessert. Would recommend the lamb shank and the Greek lamb chops. Looking forward to their winter menu!
It was a great visit. Even had a man singing live and playing piano.
The wife n I go to spot!
Weve had every birthday, special date night, and since our wedding weve done every anniversary n every single special dinner together here. Nicki, coby n tawny all excellent servers and in the kitchen its harsh n the bwoys in the back cookin fyah everyday! Vegetarian options: Amazing choices
We were on our way to do some apple picking at Great Lakes Orchard and made a pit stop at Purely Wicked wicked, and decided we were hungry. We happened upon The Bistro. What a lovely surprise! It was a chilly day, so we were offered a seat by the fireplace. The menu was diverse with lots of unique and interesting food combinations. My husband and I both had the ale and cheese soup. Delectable. My kids ordered nachos and chicken strips and fries. Both were very happy and commented how delicious they were in comparison to other restaurants we have been to. The food was all very fresh and very hot. My husband and I split a lobster mac and cheese and it was also very delicious. Just the right amount of creamy sauce and lobster throughout. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely venture out to St Thomas to visit this restaurant again. Kid-friendliness: Lots of options for all kinds of taste buds. The dishes were simple for kids who have a simple pallette.
I used to love this place and would bring my friends and family here and tell them how great this restaurant was. However, that completely changed after the last time I visited. I was seated with a different server and I was on a dietary restriction at the time. I made the server know that, but the server behaved in a very snide manner. She made very judgemental remarks and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I literally did not have to experience that. I could ve went somewhere else and had a much better time. I especially avoid going to this place now because they re not respectful towards their guests. Dietary restrictions: They re not happy to adhere to your dietary restrictions, and will make you uncomfortable.
We visited today for a meeting lunch. It was nice to talk to our team. Food took the better part of an hour to get to us. The head count when we were there was the 7 of us and about 5 to 7 more amongst the other tables. The venue was quiet and looked upscale. The unpressed and worn linen table cloths and paper napkins placed upon plastic tables made me feel more like a night at the veterans legion. The most cumbersome point was trying to move around the metal chairs on the uneven tile floor. It tripped up a few members of our group. I assume it has done the same to others. I elected for the first Item on the daily special list. It was a Chicken something melt. A single slice of bread with cream sauce and cubed chicken and bacon under a layer of baked cheese. It was okay. it was paired with a side, I choose soup. The soup was great!!! Feedback from the others of food, when it arrived, was in most cases good. The ones who went with a Burger and fries were happy. One of our group had a plate over loaded in a spicy mayo sauce making the meal not appetizing. The portions were a very good size yet, none of our group had elected to take their unfinished portions in a doggy bag. The wait staff were very helpful and plessent. We will consider coming around to this location again sometime in the future.
The food and service is the best i have had. Ambience is on point. I love the burrito here but they removed it from the new menu. So on my special request they made one just for me. Owner was pleased to know how much I dine there. Nicole is one of the most happening person in the restaurant and they way she greets is the best. Not only the signature items, everything on the new menu is top-notch and worth trying.
Guys awesome place to sate your cravings...Delicious food and Wonderful ambience Do try their Shrimp Pasta, damn tasty Right from the texture of sauce to crisp of Shrimp and vegies everything is to the point Highly recommended
We came in for my birthday. I had the Whiskey BBQ baby back ribs and hubby had the french beef dip with a spinach dip to start. I highly recommend the winter white sangria. The food was delicious and our server Ursula was fantastic. We will be coming back
Consistently great food, good service, and a wonderfully mellow atmosphere.
They have the Best Butter Chicken in town. Must try
We went for a family meal after a funeral. We waited over an hour for our food, when others who arrived after us received their food first.
Food excellent, would highly recommend
Absolutely, amazing service and food with a warm atmosphere. Soup de jour was fabulous as well as homemade. The butter chicken was also fantastic. Wheelchair accessibility: Also is a wheelchair friendly environment.
Great food, great service. Will be back soon.
Came here with my Husband for lunch and it was fantastic! Great food and friendly service. Would highly recommend!
The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was great. Local beers on tap and friendly service. We will be back.
Great food! Enjoyed live music on a Friday night
Good food. Had soup and salad
A cut above ... A great restaurant with charm ..Wonderful service and fantastic foods
Over priced over cooked cold food Potatoes were cold Steak was over cooked and thin fatty piece of meat This is the 3rd time there and all 3 times were bad I could have had more than 2 mcdonalds meals and it would have been better food
Food was good, service was great. Surroundings were very good. Check out the Bistro for yourself. Great choice of beers
This place was absolutely horrible the service was so slow it took over a half an hour just for garlic bread with cheese I have no idea what the cheese stuff was they put on top but it was disgusting and it was $14 for two pieces of bread I ordered a beef and French stick that was supposed to be prime rib Ive never chewed leather so hard and everything was cold and it cost us $70 for a sandwich and french I will never step foot in this place again.
Great food, great service and reasonable prices..
Very good service! Food came out quick and delicious! Price are fair! Would definitely recommend!
amazing staff best burger i have ever had
Great food, nice atmosphere.
My family and I really love this place. Reasonable pricing with some great menu items, nice ambiance and matching service. Highly recommend this place if you are anywhere near Talbot street.
Food was amazing and the Service was spot on ...you wont be disappointed
The short version: good time, good staff, food was fine. Had a 2pm lunch here with my co-workers. We were a group of 8, and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and had no difficulties handling us. I ordered sweet potato fries and a portobello wrap with a Ceasar to drink (no rim). The Ceasar was a bit light on tobasco, but thats down to preference and totally fine and fixable. Just be sure to adjust your order accordingly. The wrap was great, perfectly done and well balanced for fillings. The fries were done a little too long for my liking, but again, thats a preference thing. They were fully crispy outside, which is nice, but about 50% crisp inside too, which USA little much for my taste. The biggest downside was the oiliness though. I think they need to turn the heat up a bit on their frier to stop it soaking in. Overall, really good. Probably just a few fixes until its outright great.
I went to the Bistro to cancel a reservation in person and have a glass of wine, the power went out and I was not able to pay for my glass. Nicole was so gracious and I will never forget this gesture. I will be there for dinner this weekend and pay for this glass I owe plus bring all my friends for dinner. Customer service like this is rare and I cannot wait to try the food and I can assure you, with this one gesture you have a customer for life.
Great food, friendly staff, clean and cozy.
Great staff, attentive, knowledgeable. I stopped in for a quick lunch. The atmosphere is elegant; reminiscent of old style top shelf eating establishments. I had a delicious, fresh Cesar salad! It had just enough dressing, fresh Parmesan cheese and bacon bits. Lettuce was nice and crispy and in bite size pieces. They have a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, soups, starters and entrees. Reasonably priced! It is so refreshing to know that burgers are made in house as are all other dishes. Very accommodating if you require gluten free meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This is definitely our new hang out for girls night, although Im sure its fantastic for date night too. The food is fresh and the dishes varied and perfectly prepared. Ill never get bored of this place. Amazing service and Nicole is a gem.
I have been coming to the Bistro for over 13 years since I moved to St. Thomas. They are currently under new management, new menu, new chef. We ordered the seafood melt and a salad. It was excellent. The chef came out at the end of our meal and asked us how the meal went and that it was his first night at The Bistro. Staff were very accommodating and gratuitous. Thank you for a wonderful dinner and good luck with your new beginnings.
My partner and I went last night to celebrate an anniversary. It turned out to be opening night with a new owner. Everything was incredible. Our evening ended with the chef/owner personally coming to our table to ask how we liked it and to thank us for coming. It was a great evening and we will definitely be returning.
New Menue New management. All pretty good if I say so myself. Once I go back I will post pictures and items I ate. Prices are also very reasonable outside of steak dinners of course. Vegetarian options: Had multiple options for vegetarian alternatives Kid-friendliness: Kids menu was 6 to 8 different options and reasonably priced with larger then normal portions. Wheelchair accessibility: Ask for the wheelchair ramp to be brought out.
Great Service, friendly staff, food was awesome Will go back to try more food items for sure
Best Restaurant in St. Thomas. Must visit.
Fine Dining? No way!! Burger was ice cold,....never had a burger before with vinegar on the lettuce.. gross. How can a restaurant screw up a burger?Wonton bombs are comical, looked like round nacho chips with some sour cream, didnt taste any avocado. Calamari says lightly breaded served with aioli,,,ours was heavily breaded drenched and tossed in some asian sauce... Blackened bone in chicken,my bone was just laying next to my crusty lukewarm mashed potatoes...served with cold undercooked vegetables...dry skin, must have been sitting in a hot box for a few hours. Kids flatbread pizza dry overcooked.. If ever this way again,,might try Legends, easier to find and better parking. The Bistro, was an expensive bust. Server was friendly.
This restaurant blew me away! I was so impressed with their menu! It is one of the most diverse menus Ive come across with enough variety of various world cuisine for any palate Im sure ! So many different world flavours like crepes, Pork schnitzel, butter chicken, Thai curry and other curries , dynamite roll, poke bowl, kebab, Quesadilla, peri peri, your oldies like hot turkey sandwich etc , your typical fare like burgers, wings and lasagna etc, pasta dishes , Flatbreads etc you name it ! This menu is incredible for a world cuisine lover ! And its helpful for a table of people who enjoy different things as well! My family and I were able to go out and have what we prefer without limited any one of us to one type of cuisine ! This will be my new favourite local place for sure !! I will definitely be a regular customer!! Parking: Street parking
First time at the Bistro. Didnt realize what we were missing. Ursula was our waitress she was fantastic. The food was incredible. We had the Chicken Sonoma and French Beef Dip. We will most definitely recommend to our friends and be back. Thank you Craig and Michelle
What a hidden gem Recent changing of the ownership and my dining experience remains great Service is excellent/ quality ingredients you can pick them out when savouring on your palate / some new added menu items that added to a already popular menu Do venture out and try the new menu choices I have thus far tried 3 new ones and all totally delicious The Bistro ambiance is top notch / has quaint seating if wanted for that special date night / your palate will be dancing with succulence / pricing is totally fare and not big city You will not be disappointed The staff are all excellent and show a pride in there working at The Bistro
Absolutely amazing experience! Ive been going there prior to the new owner ship and enjoyed it, but with this new owner one of my favourite dishes got even better! On top of that their chef even came to our tables himself to see how we were enjoying our meals! Wonderful staff, environment and food. Could not recommend it enough!
Ate here over the weekend and had a great experience. The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. The food was also very delicious and the chef even came out to ask if we were enjoying the meal. We have eaten here many times and each time we enjoy our experience
Amazing place.. great food and great people
I got the chance to visit this restaurant in early july. I realised that its a new ownership now. It proved to be my memorable visit. Firstly restaurant itself is really beautiful. Thereafter every staff was very accommodating and then comes the owner of the restaurant, a lovely young couple who makes sure that every table leaves the restaurant with a smiling face. Food was delicious and will highly recommend everyone to go and enjoy every aspect of the restaurant.
Great quality! We went specifically to try the new menu items. I had the Blacked Chicken and my friend had the Butter Chicken. They were both delicious. We cant wait to try more Indian options at our next visit. Please add Chicken Madras and Onion Bhajis!
Love this restaurant try the Avo Mini Bombs!! Sooooo good!! Highly recommend!
Amazing place and great staff. We felt very welcomed. The food was great and drinks were amazing. The tuna tartar here is a must have.
Very good restaurant, warm atmosphere and delicious food. To discover!
Great place! Love it! the menu and the selection is very good and the prices are like pre Covid and pre inflation! we re from Montreal and if we were close we would come back often! Thanks to the owner Alki who came ans said hi!! (this is afree review! from the heart)
Great ambiance, friendly and welcoming staff and, delicious food. Had a very good time here. The menu has variety. The malai chicken kebab was amazing. Also, dont miss out on their Avo bomb. Will visit again.
My wife and I went to have supper to The Bistro, it was Monday evening and it wasnt busy Very nicely decorated restaurant with a good selection of different types of food. We had the Blackened Chicken and Railway Lamb Curry both were delicious! Our waitress was Ursula who was very friendly and made us feel home. A place where you want to return!! We will.
UPDATED: I went today with my family and couldnt be more disappointed. Butter Chicken doesnt taste buttery just like chicken in tomato sauce completely cheap taste. I take only one bite and put it away and let them know that was not a good plate but they still charge me almost twenty dollars for something to threw in the garbage. The chef offer a dessert but I still consider unfair to pay full price for a dish that doesnt taste good. They dont have the Alfredo pasta anymore. And last but not least they are charging same price for the plates and not offering salad or soup of the day anymore. I used to go once a month but for now I will find another place.
Everything was sooooo delicious!!!! I loved the creamy butter chicken and we also tried the blackened chicken!!! Can t wait to go back for more tasty foods ! Love love love !!!!!!
Awesome food and service. Will be back.
Food is average at best.. likely frozen and reheated. Forgot part of the order
I was drawn to this restaurant by their unique menu. There seems to be something for everyone and a selection of very diverse fusion foods. We really enjoyed they avo bombs. I got the the Thai green curry which was packed with flavour and my husband got a bacon wrapped beef medallion special which was a great value as well as tasty. The hostess and the owner were very warm and welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates diversity and is tired of the standard pub fare.
The staff was very nice! Ordered a medium rare burger and it was well done and my mash potatoes were cold. The french onion soup and peanut butter pie was good.
The food was delicious. Service left much to be desired. Our waitress was obviously intoxicated and proceeded to appear more intoxicated through the course of our meal.
Very nice place to enjoy good food in comfort.staff are very good. Our server,Ursula, took very good care of us and ensured we had all we needed for a great night out.highly recommend
Delicious! Excellent service! Lovely ambiance! Beyond my expectations! I had the lamb chops & my partner had the seafood linguine. We were both completely satisfied! Sadly no room for dessert, next time.
First of all my hat goes off to the new owners of the Bistro restaurant in St Thomas, my husband and I first met Mayuri at another venue and when we found out her and her husband Akki open up a restaurant we had to go and check it out. After going to the Bistro restaurant for the first time we quickly realised that it definitely will not be the last. The variety on the menu was perfect. Ursela was our server and she was fantastic and very informative. Nicole the restaurants manager was very attentive. As it was a Friday night there was live singer , the perfect dinner music. All in all of I could give it more than a 5 out 5.. I would. Check it out, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Manj and Lynn
What a great little restaurant and excellent staff! Had a delicious tomato bisque soup and an equally yummy bruschetta with some of my fav toppings. My friend also really enjoyed her meal. I didnt take pics inside but took a couple at the door so I could share. Reasonable pricing. Lots of parking. Definitely recommend!
Came here for an anniversary dinner and it was nothing short of amazing. We asked to come earlier and they were more than happy to accommodate us.The manager, Nicole took care of us from start to finish. She was so inviting, attentive and just a pleasant person to speak with. If we ever needed something, she was right there to cater to our every need. The food was really good and the service was even better. Thank you, Nicole for making our night extra special. We will definitely be back.
Ordered through door dash and requested no tomatoes as I am allergic. When my food arrived there was a tomato. I called the restaurant and talked to a nice lady whom said it would be replaced and she would deliver it. A few minutes later I got a unknown call from a gentleman stating he was the owner informed me that he would not be replacing the food I ordered and to take it up with skip. This owner has no customer service skills. He was very rude and put the blame all on me. Informing me he was not taking the 20$ food loss hit, but apparently was willing to kill a customer with an allergic reaction. As a regular customer I will not be going back and informed him, with his response being are you threatening me. Man really arent cut out for the restaurant business.. and I feel sorry for your staff. Roy would be disappointed in the way you treat his customers. UPDATE: DOORDASH gave me a full refund and as my app shows I did put in the instructions about the tomatoes. I apologize to the new owner that you think you have the right to call a customer a liar.
New owners are very professional and welcoming! I wish them nothing but success in this venture. Cant wait for my next date night and chance to support you!
It was an amazing experience to dine at The Bistro! Their entire team is welcoming and courteous. Great ambience and amazing food! The new menu has plenty of choices to suit everyone s taste. We will be back again!
We attended the bistro with a very large party and the staff handled it great. Especially during a time where most places are understaffed, they did their best to get the food out on time and had no issues getting our drinks out and staying organized.
Excellent in every way!!
Great downtown restaurant with ample seating space. Wide menu selection also, really enjoyed our meal here.
Ate here with my family late last month and havent stopped thinking about how good the food and atmosphere was. We had the blackened chicken, mango salad, Thai green curry, butter chicken, sweet potato fries, and French fries. The portions were just right, food was at the perfect temperature, well seasoned, and beautifully plated. Everything tasted really good. Staff and owner were super friendly as well.
Always incredible food and service! Our thanksgiving family dinner plans fell through due to some people falling ill, but we felt welcomed and right at home and the Thanksgiving menu was out of this world!
We were warmly welcomed by the new owners of the restaurant Mayuri and Akshay to one of the best fine dining experiences I have witnessed anywhere in Ontario from the drinks to the food to the ambience Everything was just awesome. The servers have a great product knowledge which is the key factor. Food is a fusion of delicacies from around the globe. Thank you to the Ursula, Nicole and Jess for taking care of us We will definitely be back.
We stopped at The Bistro for dinner and had great food and beer. Service is great and even the owner stopped out and chatted with us for a few minutes. Menu has many different options including some from cultures I wouldnt have expected to see at a bistro.
It was a work related dinner, so the pricey cost wasnt a problem.....although Im sure the prices are comparable.I had the French Onion soup( so good!) and a salad with feta cheese, walnuts and apple slices ringing the plate as I wanted to leave room for......the CARROT CHEESECAKE. All was delish...and companions all enjoyed their meals too. We were seated at the back up a step....so there was privacy for the meeting. Bistro is definitely one of St Thomass best restaurant Parking: Easiest to park in the Moore St parking lot and walk through the little alley to Talbot St. because getting a spot right on Talbot is no guarantee. The short walk will do you good, lol
Excellent variety selection on the menu, friendly staff, casual atmosphere, washrooms clean but need some upgrades
We went back in the summer when the new owners took over and it was great. Recent menu change, changed that. Beyond expensive for what you get. $19.00 bruschetta bread that is two peices of bread cut in half with a handful of cherry tomatoes, that are just cut in half and barely seasoned. I got the beef dip sandwich and there were 4 thin slices of beef on it and it was salty as hell. For the price, the portions and quality arent worth it. My husband got curry and it was $25 for a bowl of curry and some rice. He said he enjoyed it, the flavour was there but the price was ridiculous. For a shared app and two mains our meal was $80.
this place is amazing. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the attention was spectacular, the food delicious, but the best thing was our waitress Ursula, she made us feel at home.
Used to come here often and since the new owners took over the food is so much better oh my god. You HAVE to have the calamari. Had the medallion special and I cannot say enough. The selection of the menu is so much better than it used to be. If you came before with the previous owner and enjoyed it, you will find that this new menu will far surpass anything that was ever on the old one. Always friendly staff. Owner is very nice and engaging as well. 100% go here, you wont be disappointed
Absolutely terrible! Bad attitude from waitress... Waited for so long was ridiculous, never coming back
Missing an entire meal out of two. Two meals and one was missing! Food was very cold and barely enough to fill one person. A joke of a restaurant, you had one job to do, one job. Couldnt even do that and yet people like you ask for more money per hour.... Ha! Never returning to this place.
When you are in St. Thomas this a must go to place. Everything is a win-win, especially the gravy.
Loved this! Food was awesome. Service was spectacular! Will definitely be back!
Had baby back ribs and they were very good.
