Foods are great ! There are more new foods and snacks now! I like the restaurant!!!!!
The service was good, everyone was nice however the food was horrible and I'm not picky. The chicken tasted burnt, had no sauce and had a weird after taste. The vegetables and beef also had a weird after taste. The noodles were okay but I found myself just wanting the noodles you get from the store cuz they wouldve been better.... had higher hopes but unfortunately this place was not it at all. Only got 2 stars because of service but food is a 1 for sure.
We got take out and everything tasted off. The beef with mixed vegetables tasted sweet and the vegetables were harder then normal. The sweet and sour chicken balls actually tasted good. But the chicken fried rice had a weird flavor and it was bland and we hardly ate any of it.
Worse Asian buffet I've ever been to. Lucky I was only a guest and someone had to pay for the meal. Under cooked, raw veggies, luke warm rice(with uncooked bits). Yuck.
I would say this restaurant was okay, not great but not terrible either. The fried food was really good and seemed fresh, however some of the other dishes tasted a little old and/or reheated. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as it was quiet but the buffet is small. I probably won’t return but for the price, the food wasn’t bad.
So, I'm kinda new to town and when asking around, 'the best Chinese food in town'... EVERYone says it's the little place in the mall. I've had it a handful of times and, it's mediocre mall food at best. No idea what everyone is on about. So, tonight I decided to try Lucky. I feel pretty unlucky about that decision. At first, I was excited because the lady told me that orders over $30 you get free Lemon chicken! Awesome! I'd have food for three days! Not just leftovers tomorrow. Perfect! Then I started eating it. Now, I'm sad that I have this to eat for three days. I decided to try it cos they have Chicken Soo Gai on the menu. For me, the Soo Gai is what I judge a Chinese restaurant on. (some places these days just call it 'almond chicken'.) Like Thai places, you try the Pad Thai. Diners, the Club Sandwich. Indian, the butter chicken. Chinese restaurants... I try the Soo Gai. It was... hard. Soo Gai should be a thin payer of kinda flaky breading. The breading was super thick and hard. The chicken fried rice didn't seem 'fried' at all and was very light on flavour. The FREE lemon chicken was... chewy. Like... jerky softened with some sauce. And in the breading... there was a sort of 'cake' flavour. Like Betty Crocker was back in the kitchen. The Mixed Vegetables were really fantastic. But... they're going to run out and I will still have all this other weird and difficult stuff to eat. The lady who took my call and served me when I went in to get it was very nice. Nice enough for me to almost feel bad about leaving this review. Almost.
Went for supper tonight and had the buffet at 5pm. Food was obviously sitting for a long time, probably since when buffet started at 3pm. Rice was crunchy, spring rolls soaked and dripping in oil. Maybe food would have tasted good at 3 when first set out. Paid $50 for 2 people for buffet and neither of us even ate what was in our plate. Turned me off eating there again or even ordering take out. Would not recommend.
It was my first time having dinner here; the food was actually really really good - all three of us were completely satisfied with our meals. The people who work there are so sweet and wonderful, and I even got an impromptu chinese lesson! 晚餐 好吃 谢谢! (Yummy dinner, thank you!)😍
tasted like pooh Vegetarian options: no no no no Kid-friendliness: no no no no no
Its okay food and the the price isnt bad
No idea how the food is. Went in for a buffet, at a place that has the word buffet in the name of it. And someone at the back just yelled at us, no buffet! Apparently, the buffet is only on at certain times? I have no idea. Ill never find out. Food
I was here for lunch today and staff was nice as well as the food.
My wifes family has been coming here for years. Today we ordered our usual and the wings were rotten . We called and were not able to come to a resolution unfortunately. They offered to cook more wings for us but we were worried about getting another rotten batch. Unfortunate but we wont be going back.
Our soups were in plastic containers almost burnt our tongues. Within 30 min. I was on the toilet for the rest of the evening.
I have eaten many Chinese buffet places in my life. ThIs is the worst by a long shot. The steam pans barely had any food in them, mostly a tiny bit. The food was dried out, The meat was overcooked and hard, we couldn t chew it. It should never be served. The variety was very limited. The deep fried meat was so greasy. The soup- I could barely fill a bowl, I never tasted such awful hot and sour soup. If you are thinking of eating here, walk on by.
Food was horrible. The place is filthy.
Excellent food and service. We will definitely return.
We ordered take out. Food was ready quick, and it was hot and fresh!
Nice to be
I spent my afternoon at this restaurant. They let me stay in their wonderful restaurant for 3 hours while I waited for my vehicle to get worked on just down the road. They had awesome food and good service. Great people as well. Highly recommend!
It was our first time in there it was so quiet and peaceful the food was fantastic we will be definitely going there again I was actually stuffed after 2 plates and the price was good Parking: Theres not much to say but again the good was fantastic
Went there today and not only were they very polite and friendly but the food was actually really good and was cooked fresh! Definitely going back here when I go back to St Thomas
We always get the dinner for 4 and the staff are so friendly!!!
We ordered on New Years. I use to live in Toronto. This was the worst Chinese food I ve ever had. Everything was covered in oil. All of the different meats tasted very bland. The beef in the lo mein was inedible. The short ribs were cooked fine but were not fresh. The only thing that was fine was the chicken balls. I ll take a hard pass on eating here again
My husband and I went in for the buffet at around 6pm. The food was practically inedible; I had the chow main noodles and they were cold and stuck together, the fish was soggy and cold, the only thing that was good were the chicken balls in which they only had 10 of. They never came out at all to fill the foods or anything like that for the whole hour we were there. The staff came out to grab some food for themselves and ate in the back ignoring us, with us needing refills on our drinks and plates piling up on our table side. This is definitely not worth the $40 or more depending on which day you go. Will not be going again, we left very disappointed and disgusted.
Not Happy!
The worst Chinese food I ever had
Parking: Large lot at rear of building. Kid-friendliness: Suitable for all ages. Wheelchair accessibility: Rear entrance is wheelchair accessible.
Very disappointing. We ordered takeout on a Saturday, the food was not fresh and was room temperature. The lemon chicken was not edible - so gross!
Great food, great portions, great prices
Was good...but to small of a buffet for 20 bucks a person
Good was all really good. Hot and fresh. Everybody enjoyed it
Very tasty and fast. Yes I recommend.
It was very good
Hot, delicious ready to eat buffet on the weekends! Great selection of Chinese food dishes available. Polite, friendly, professional staff. No need to travel to London if youre in the mood for Chinese food. 15 to 20 dishes to choose from at the Buffet. Choice of soups, small deserts, ice cream, cookies etc. Parking: Behind restaurant. Can access through back door once parked.
Pretty good, flavours were a little weak, but it was fresh. Gunna try one more time to see if its a consistency thing.
Great place and all you can eat. Not a big place but still good food!
The food was delicious.
Food was flavorless, literally no salt on the fried rice, sweet and sour pork had too many fried batter pieces (no pork in them). Egg rolls were decent but smaller than what Im used to. Food was prepared in 5 mins, which says to me it isnt fresh. Staff was friendly. Overall I did not enjoy my food and will not return.
We had take out, very tasty and fresh.
Food was ready for pick up according to time they provided. The food was dry. General tao chicken, chicken balls, and chicken fried rice all were very dry and did not seem fresh.
Delicious food, friendly staff...go...lots of free parking..
Can you say disgusting? Not one thing was good. We got chicken balls, chicken fried rice (how do you screw up rice), cantonese chow mein (chicken wasnt cooked and pork had tons of fat) and egg rolls. Yuk, yuk, yuk and yuk.
I will never order out again, although the food was ok the rice was overcooked and the serving sizes were half what they used to be, usually have enough left for the next day, not anymore definitely NOT worth the money, same price as always , 1/2 the food.
The food was delivered an hour over what we were told. Food wasnt very hot due to the delay and probably wont order there again!
Not great. The General Tao chicken was spongy and mushy, the rice hand the egg rolls had little to no flavor. Which is super weird for a Chinese restaurant. Cream cheese wontons were good, but thats the only thing I liked out of our entire order. I appreciate the 5 to 10 minute wait time, but maybe spend more time preparing and the food wouldnt taste rushed. Wouldnt come back here again.
The go to Chinese food in St.T.
Generous take-out portions (dinner for six). Ready promptly and nice and hot. Each dish had a nice flavour. The chicken balls were NOT greasy (the cardboard carton they came in was nearly pristine.)
Friendly and great food! Always go back!
Prices are not what they say on the website. Even though its been updated. They told me its all new prices.
Good.
First time ordering take out from Lucky Kitchen and it was absolutely the best Chinese food weve had in years! Well definitely be back. Thank you Lucky Kitchen!!
Great food buffet but waitress was still over at table
Very nice place, had the buffet very good, lovely people,
Great service, friendly and helpful.
Never again
Horrible food overpriced
Buffet is back, and well done! Decent selection on a real steam table, so the food is good and hot! 2 adults, buffet, a drink each, tip in for a total of $60. Good value.
Terrible. We ordered dinner last night at 4 pm and waited all evening. The food never showed up. Tried calling back for status update on our food and they had their phone off the hook. Dont waste your time!!
Good takeout ready fast
It was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. We could not eat it we threw it all out. I called back to talk to them and they were rude and would do nothing about it. I understand things are difficult with covid but you cant cut corners.
Very disappointed. There food is very hit and miss. One time can be great and next time not hood at all. Last night ordered food and the meat was raw. Yes Raw.
Just wanted to express my great experience ordering from Lucky Kitchen. Ordering for pick-up was easy and efficient. My order was ready quickly. The food was very tasty. The portion size was generous. Good value for the money. Highly recommended!
Ordered delivery for my parents and it took over an hour to arrive, when it did it was cold. The crispy wontons were not crispy and slightly underdone, sweet and sour sauce was watered down, and had a general didnt taste right and fishy flavour to the chop suey and fried rice. Would not reccomend nor order again.
Wow, This is the best Chinese food in St. Thomas! This is our first time ordering from lucky kitchen and I have to say we love it! The food is delicious, they give a big amount so you are full and the price we good for what we got.
This place is hype. Great food.
Love the food.
Love the black pepper beef!
We love most of their food however ordering over the phone is a bit challenging with a lot of miscommunication.
This is a high rating because of the service great food for the price very quick to be ready if your in a rush and big potions definitely making my go too in St thomas.
Ordered for the first time this evening. The rice had and old weird taste to it, and the vegetables tasted dirty. Wont be ordering again. It also made my wife feel sick to her stomach!
Good food, easy pickup and ordering. We did meal for 6, overall food was tasty. The spare ribs had a great flavour (Ginger perhaps?) which was nice. Well order again. Glad to support local restaurants!
Really good Chinese food some of the best I ever had I would eat there again if it were closer to where I am living now.
Very poor service . Ignorant employees and always gets our order wrong . Instead of them trying to please their customers they try to make u pay more money . Horrible place. Be prepared to have food poisoning.
So good! The buffet is delicious, lots of variety. We went for dinner on New Years Day and the place was PACKED. Food was hot service was ok. Definitely will return.
Staff happy friendly, but same old same old . Nothing new , just thrown together. I want to be impressed
Buffet was not well stocked but the ladies were fantastic
Great local buffet. The owners are very nice. The food was pretty good, and the prices were also very nice. $18.00 for an adult dinner time buffet.
Great food!!!! Freshly made, favourable and very good prices. Would definatly recommed. Will be ordering again!!!!!!
Delicious food with a friendly staff ... A place too enjoy a meal to remember... Enjoy
The food was ok the restaurant was not busy but the food could have been a little fresher. The service was good and they were very polite.
Great food at a great price. Licensed under lcbo
The food was good, however we were starving due to the slow delivery. It took twice as long as we were told. From left to right; Sweet & Sour Pork, Beef with Mixed Vegetables and Vegetable Soft Noodles.
Very good food on the buffet. The price is very good for the selection. Dessert is an obvious last thought, but you go for the buffet food.
Food was great, maybe could have used a bigger sel6
Takeout was fast and friendly. My food was hot and fresh. If you are new to town and looking for Chinese food I would definitely try Lucky Kitchen first.
The best Chinese takeout weve had in St Thomas in years.
Great food good Service!!!
Goodquality, good service, open on holidays
Just ordered from Lucky Kitchen today for the first time. All I gotta say is delish! Everything arrived hot and fairly promptly. I would definitely order from them again!
Great tasting food ..especially soup ..very friendly staff and owner
Got dinner here on Christmas day. The lady ringing through the order was funny and friendly. Food was excellent. Editing my review over a year later. After several orders over that time Im done with this place. Almost every time the order is wrong. Whats the point of ordering from a menu if what you get is just random items.
Liked it better before the changes. Fried rice was dry with no veggies. Chicken chop suey flavour was totally different. Im going to miss eating there.
Love the Singapore noodles, extra spicy.
Good, tasty.
Good service. Good food
I did not know the owner had changed and I should have read the reviews before ordering. The reviews are spot on. The food is now slapped together in the same containers, no veggies in the vegetable fried rice ( ordered without chicken because there is a vegetarian in my home), came with chicken that looked dried out. Looks gross , tasted gross.
Wasted 70.00 .if they keep this up nobody will order.
Could be better felt like owners didnt really care
Used to be my favorite place to go. Now its about the worst Chinese food I have had since they changed
Gross!! Used to be great. New owners. Now its sh!t. Opened the containers and it looked like leftovers. Tasted like Sh!t too. Dont waste your money. Someone told me it had gotten nasty but I thought Id try it for myself. I actually feel ill after eating it. The rest is going in the garbage. Wasted 40 bucks.
Meal presentation was poor.
Food is terrible here now. Used to be awesome. Must be the new owners. Food was mushy and bland. Stay away.
Was not happy....the quality of the food has deteriorated since our last visit. Pad Thai tasted and looked like noodles in sweet and sour sauce ..a sloppy mess. General Tao chicken ... No spice or flavour just a sticky sweet sauce.. Shrimp in black bean sauce ..... mostly peppers ..very few shrimp. Had to ask for spoons to serve the food..... Dishes all arrived at separate times.... I suspect this restaurant wont last long as I heard the only other people in the restaurant asking what the food was that they had been served. Very disappointing
Food was not good and hardly warm. Order took over 1.5hrs to come when we were told 40min. No communication on it being Delayed. Lady laughed when I told her I had to make a separate dinner for my daughter becuase it took so long.
Stay away! Food was ok.. but who i ordered from was very difficult to talk to and made me wait while she answered the phone after already starting my order..then gave me a hard time about asking for extra packets of sauce for the egg rolls.. ordered 4 egg rolls she was upset i wantes 2 packets of sauce per roll.. dont waste your time
Ordered a combination plate. Small portions...They gave me pork when I ordered chicken, all the food was super oily and I ended up getting sick. When I called they told me to bring the food back the next day for a refund, since it was close to close which was fine by me. The next day I went back, and they told me they would give me $2 off on a new meal. Really??? I told them I drove 30 minutes one way, and brought the food back like they requested and didnt want any food. I thankfully ended up getting money back, and 100% will never eating there again. Go to Lucky Garden on Princess instead.
They do have good food
Popped in with some family for a late (7pm) dinner and tried the buffet. Affordably priced and everything was very fresh.
My roomate and I decided we both would try their new buffet( which btw looked amazing.) It wasnt until I found a piece of plastic or metal in chicken wing. I showed the waitress and had asked her what that was. She then showed the kitchen staff. Not once did I get an answer nor did I did i get an appology nothing. I thought they wouldve tried anything to rectify the situation. I paid for my meal and left!! I didnt even think about taking a picture of it. Such a disappointing experience.
Love the food.. tastes so clean... and always so fresh.. love the buffet and the fact that they have such fast delivery.. New owners made a huge change in the place..
I went for the buffet around 12 noon. The food was hot. I thought it was very good. They had 2 soups, hot and sour and wonton. Both where excellent. I liked the egg rolls. My favorites where the mushrooms and the pepper steak and mixed veggies. Also the Buffett was super cheap. I paid under $15 for that and a can of pop. I didn t care much for the chicken balls. I thought they where too doughy. Pop is served by the can so no refills. Plates where kind of small, but really that s just me being nit picky for the sake of an honest review. All and all this place exceeded my expectations. It s just a tiny Buffett in St.Thomas. Not a lot of options but there where lots of things I like. I wouldn t try to bash it too much. Come on guys this isn t the Mandarin. We are lucky to have it and once it s gone we might never get another buffet again. They are not as popular as they once where. I don t know how or if they are making a profit. I recommend trying it. I will go back for sure.
Their buffet is terrible. Not fresh.
New owners and they turned that place around! Really good food and big portions! Loved it!
Food was good and price was good. And friendly staff.
Good food.Goode prize
My wife and I have gone to the buffet 3x since August 2019, and really havent been disappointed. The first time, the buffet had only been open for 2 days, and that being said, the food was hot and fresh (aside from the fried rice, was a little dried out and bland) but for only being the second day of the buffet operating, we left full, and happy. Second visit was in early September, buffet had improved somewhat, again except the fried rice which wasnt as dry, but still very bland. Peppered beef was amazing, as was most everything else, including the wonton soup! Third visit, late September, restaurant was busy, buffet was looking good, salad bar had improved, food was delicious, did I mention the peppered beef?, Still amazing!! Everything had improved 10 fold, except the darn fried rice!! It was piping hot, had what looked like a bag of frozen peas, corn and carrots mixed in, which is fine with me, but it has no taste!! Was bland. Could not taste sesame oil, nothing. Hopefully they improve the rice, but other than that, its been a decent experience price wise, and never left hungry ever. Keep up the good work Lucky Kitchen!! Btw, the peppered beef is GANGSTER!! LOL!
Inexpensive but tasty,
Buffet was good food and good value. Great service as well.
Great food. Great price !! Wonderful owners
Delicious food at a very reasonable price and very friendly and prompt service.
Fabulous! Tried Lucky Kitchen Chen for the first time today. Delivery was on time and the food was amazing! Curry chicken, Singapore vermicelli and lo mein with black pepper beef - nice and spicy! Very generous portions. Count me as a regular customer now.
small portions for price, uncleanly inside of restaurant. very unfriendly servers. bean sprouts were under cooked . good spring rolls
Great food
Food there is actually amazing! Brought my family there and we where all extremely satisfied. The amount of food could have filled up 2 families. 5 Star A+ will be going back again.
Friendly service. Inside a little dull. Food was OK but inconsistent. Decent hot and sour soup but a little sweet for my taste. Cantonese lo mein tasty but little meat for the price. Tofu and Vegetable dish was terrible: the tofu was basically inedible. Despite this, I may try this place again.
Says they re open until 11 but called at 9:08 and they closed at 9. Should fix the issue.
Best Chinese Food In St Thomas
Food is decent but one major issue. We had a member of our group who had a major shellfish allergy. We communicated this many times throughout the ordering process. Needless to say when we arrived home we realized (luckily in time) that one of our noodle dishes had shrimp in it. Not only that, the wontons that were included with the meal was shrimp wontons!!! None of this was mentioned when we placed the order.
Great food and service. My wife and I will be back
Great chinese restaurant! Not a ton of options here at sait Thomas and the neighbouring town of Port Stanley. Therefore I struck gold with this restaurant. Great food and friendly service. Not too expensive either.
Its ok chinese place foods not great or bad and price is is fair for that quality..
We enjoy the food here, its been consistently good since opening
Called and asked if they offered the free wonton appetizer for meals over $20 still. they replied yes so I started placing my order but after being told one after another for 4 items that they were all out (roughly 5pm), I was told they had no appetizers other than egg rolls. I canceled my order and called back 3 days later around 6pm on a saturday and got no answer after calling a total of 5 times spread out over a 1.5 hour period. Just now called a week and a half later and was told over the phone that they cant take orders because of the kitchen but can order for me in about a week. Ive loved their food for about 3 years now but its always like pulling teeth trying to get them to answer a phone, take my order, be on time with the order, and not messing the order up and thats if they manage to get my order at all... fed up.
Surprising how many people in STM like this place. Authentic Chinese Food is a huge stretch. A more accurate description would be greasy day old mall Chinese Food. The Bok Choy was slathered in some kind of gravy. Which was almost unrecognizable as a Vegetable. The Wonton soup was one of the most bland I have ever tasted and the dumplings were thick & doughy. Even the prepqckaged fortune cookies were bad,, tearing apart like wet dough. Very disappointing overall!
Poor service, wrong order, no take-out bowls for soup, same poor quality greasy food under different name.
Originally my rating was 5 Stars but after ordering takeout over the weekend for pickup. My rating has dropped we ordered 5 items only to find when returning home there was only 4 items in the sealed bag so we were down $10. Unfortunately it does seems the quality, quantity and service has dropped which is a real pitty. As Chens used to be the best Chinese in St Thomas by far. We wont be using it again.
Use to like this place, havent had it in awhile so we ordered some today. What we picked up was nothing that we ordered, come to find out its under different ownership. They offered us 10 % off our next order. I dont think so. We dont like what we originally got and you think 10% will cover it? Nope, not going back. Its garbage.
Love their food. Always fast and hot.
I really love the food it is one of the best places in town, I did take my cousin to lucky kitchen last year and Im hopping one of these days my best friend will come back to town so I can take her there.
Our favorite Chinese restaurant for takeout / delivery - always hot and tasty! Pineapple Sweet and Sour Chicken is my favorite!
Excellent food and sevice
Worst I ever had. Never again. Watered down sweet&sour sauce. Hard pieces in chicken balls. Added frozen vegables to rice. Couldnt eat it threw out most.
Best food and service around! Definitely repeat customers!
Overall good food. General Taos was a little on the crunchy side but the shrimp was nicely fried with a crispy breading. Egg rolls were standard fair and the rice was tender and tasty.
Great food, wasnt crazy about the spring rolls, but overall the food is good and the customer service is good as well
Best option for Chinese food in the town.
Fresh food..fast service
Best service Chinese food in town
The decor is new and modern. Staffs are friendly and able to communicate with English fluently. Prices are affordable. Choice of dishes are enormous. Food just comes out fast, hot and tasty. Definitely worth a try whenever you want Chinese food.
We ordered from here for the first time this evening and I must say we were extremely impressed. The beef with mixed vegetables was amazing, actually everything was amazing. Needless to say, weve found our new Go-To place for authentic Chinese food.
Best Chinese food and they cook to suit! Also cook with no MSG including won ton soup! Portions are great too!
