Amazing food and great atmosphere!

The food was amazing, and the server was hilarious. She should do stand up comedy.

It was eh-ok.We thought wed try something different this time, the atmosphere was amazing we sat outside it was peaceful and comfortable. The food though, took very long and wasnt very good. The eggs were over done and the hollandaise sauce was not done right.

Delicious Caesar salad to start, followed by pizza with garlic sauce, mozzarella, banana peppers, goats cheese, and arugula. Healthy amount of goats cheese too! Very nice location for a date

Food was good but lousy service. We waited for 1 1/2 hour before I food came. The cooks were visiting back there . I was not happy. Yes it happened Friday night. Got there at 6:30 only got food after 8 .

I live in Winnipeg, but I would go to Steinbach just to eat at Chinos Bistro. The food, the service and the vibe are the best.

I like that the options for pizza are unique and tasty, and I like the general atmosphere. I really love the chocolate gelato. But overall, the wait for food to come out both times I went there was super long, and the prices are just not worth it. $20 for an appetizer of just some bread and a bit of dip? Crazy.

Good food, a bit overpriced

Absolutely delicious, loved everything we got! The vibe in there is so relaxed and comfortable. The only complaint I have is we got the mixed berry gelato and there was banana in it and it wasn t advertised. Other than that 10/10!

They have some of the best gelato around, even considering being close to Winnipeg. They have a great atmosphere, and their food is really good. Some staff can be a little standoffish, but overall really friendly and helpful.

Oh dear. Well. We came for coffee and desert but decided to grab a pizza too as I missed supper and my partner was moderately hungry too. Ordered the Funghi pizza. It was an excruciatingly long wait. 40 minutes? Mostly empty restaurant? So I m not sure why. And when I tell you I was starving! So this pizza arrives and it s very unattractive looking like it s as if a bag of arugula was just emptied on it blindly and everything else is just white. If this thing was near a wood fire there s nothing to show that, no golden edge, no crispy crust, nothing. But okay. Shouldn t judge by looks right? Absolutely nothing could prepare me for the degree that this thing was such a disgusting, soppy, dripping mess. An actual pool of water? Mushroom juice? Under the crust, which is not a crust but a wet, slimy layer of gluten. Absolutely horrific. But I m starving. This took FOREVER. So I eat a bite. The boccocini cheese is thickesh and chewy and it s not hot - not helping the mushy crust . Just picture chewing wet dough? With congealed cheese? The bacon looked like that ultra thin kind you put in the microwave. Like see-thru bacon. Which is fine! I don t care! I am STARVING ! But when I went to slice it it pulled apart like the dough- flaccid, gooey, no crisp or desire to act like bacon at all, I have never seen bacon do that after being cooked. It acted more like how raw bacon would pull apart? I couldn t take it. I got an urge to gag so I had to leave the resto for a minute. I actually started tearing up as I was so hungry and this was supposed to be a special date for a tired mom and dad and we won t get another chance for a while. My partner was so hungry he ate most of it anyway and said he felt sick. I would have ordered more food but I couldn t handle the idea of waiting another 40 minutes. And my stomach was turning. It is midnight as I write this and I still haven t eaten because I wanna gag still. We got gelato (excellent) and two caramel macchiatos. The coffee was insanely bitter for the first ten minutes, like a shot of pure espresso?, but we tapered it with the gelato. I almost got used to it, but we got to the second half of it, and it was near pure caramel syrup and cream with no coffee flavour at all. That bottom half was undrinkable for both of us. We saved them as syrup to add to coffee for the next few days. So I figure it just didn t get mixed? And that it actually was the pure espresso sitting on top? Service gets lower stars because our server disappeared after delivering the meal - ended her shift but never checked in with us which should take place 1-2 minutes after dropping food. A second server arrived well past the point I could have even ordered anything else anyway (my partner ate 7 out of 8 slices before she ever came by to ask how it was and no I didn t tell her the truth, I just didn t say anything, and she looked exhausted, unhappy and stone-faced, was training an employee, and I didn t want to add to whatever was wrong there). Atmosphere gets three stars because it was Saturday night and the fireplace was not lit inside (why have it then?) and it was freezing in there, no candles on the table or anything (flowers? Are they hard to find?). And it s obviously just a whatever but there are plastic shrubs along the window seats which, well, are real plants hard to find? Why have a window into a greenhouse and put lawn chairs and plastic shrubs along it? Felt a bit like eating soggy bread after the sprinkler ran on it for an hour in the discount garden section of a Canadian Tire? People around here don t have many options. But if you have to choose a place to spend your money and time in this one horse town, you might have a mediocre meal here, or one of the actual worst food experiences of your life. You might leave and be unable to eat or even see a mushroom pizza for a long, long, long time without wanting to gag. Do you really want to take that risk with your special date night? No. Go to Irori, or the Indian Spice Club, or Winnipeg.

Absolutely horrendous service, waited over an hour before the waitress informed us it would be an additional 15 minutes. In the over hour wait, the waitress came by once to fill our waters which she failed to do. Save your money and time and go anywhere else. Wouldn t recommend to anyone.

I love this place, I m always greeted with a smile and never wait too long for an order. I come to steinbach for work a few times a month and always make sure I stop in for their lunch specials. Their gelato is always so tempting Whoever the staff were working today really knocked it out of the park with their customer service.

Nothing but good things to say about Chinos. I come here quite often to study or have coffee with friends. The staff are always very friendly and the café has a warm atmosphere. The drinks are always great tasting! I ve had dessert here as well and it has been amazing! I will have to come have dinner here sometime. Great environment to get work done if you are looking for a place to do so! Thanks Chinos!

A lovely date place, or just a dinner location in general. Its a bit expense for the food alone, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Pretty good selection of pizzas plus a custom option. The dessert pizzas are fun and unique. We tried the Apple Heaven, the sweet and Feta is not for everyone but worth trying if your experimental. Would definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: Only one main option, but the staff is willing to swap out toppings, might need to pay if swapping to a premium topping. Parking: Parking is right in front of the restaurant, it is shared with the greenhouse so if its a busy day parking might be tight but otherwise a good amount of parking.

Lovely place, excellent food

stopped in at chinos yesterday to enjoy the food and patio. appetizer was delicious, though it took a solid 45 minutes to come out, and then our meals were brought out 10 minutes later. the issue i experienced was that the service from our server and management was terrible. i ordered soup, didn t get a spoon. my salad was wilted and browning, which we were told is normal for their caesar salads. the waiter didn t check in after bringing our food to see how everything was or if we needed anything (a spoon). my boyfriend tried to speak to the manager about my salad to which she replied it was supposed to look like that. i m sorry but this piece of lettuce looks like it s been in the fridge too long. it would have been nice if the manager at least pretended to care about our feedback.

Was very surprised at how nice it was inside. Didnt realize it was such a nice establishment. Service could have been better though. There were no customers but they were to busy chatting it up to take care of my wife and I. I had to go up to them to get a glass of water.

I love the pizza here but the last time I ordered in advance they let the skip the dishes guy take my order, they offered to make my order again, but I ordered in advance because I didnt have the time. I drove all the way from Ste. Annes and wasnt offered anything for my troubles or to entice me to come back. Just, an apology. Update: ordered the fired grilled ceasar salad and its just regular ceasar salad, nothing grilled here. Disappointing to get home with food you were anticipating but didnt get.

Amazing calzones

Food is good but INSANELY overpriced. $25 for a 10 inch pizza is absurd.

On my trips to Steinbach. I have always had good food and service and Chinos. The wood fired pizza is delicious.

Love the Gelatos

Delicious food! Its so nice to pair a lunch outing and have a greenhouse to explore afterwards. Definitely a bit more pricey but great quality.

Absolutely the best stone fired pizza!!! Service is always great and the one time it wasnt management stepped up and handled the situation swiftly and properly. If the weather is nice enough we highly recommend sitting out on the patio

Great restaurant in the culinary wasteland of Steinbach.

First visit. Chicken corn chowder very tasty but wouldnt consider it a chowder, as most creamy & thick. Nonetheless less this was a good and flavorful soup. Calzone was good, one meat quite spicy though. Otherwise good & filling. As everywhere, meals up in price. Think this meal a bit overpriced though. Food

The food always tastes amazing, however the service is not great.

My mother and I often come on special occasions, and this time was no different. Wonderful staff and delicious food. Even the most plain of pizzas taste wonderful here. We didnt have gelato this time, but in previous visits we have, and I can just say that it was wonderful stuff.

We sat on the patio, surrounded by an extensive garden with a large rock fireplace. The food was fresh and had a lot of different ingredients. I enjoyed the combination of flavours that came from the herbs, spices, and oils. The staff was nice, professional, and hardworking. The experience was simply lovely! Vegetarian options: They had a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables on the menu and allowed for dietary changes Dietary restrictions: Informed them of my partners seafood allergy and they made certain to prepare his food accordingly Parking: Free onsite parking Kid-friendliness: A nice and very popular gelato bar

Food was really good, the waitress we had didnt come to ask if we needed waters, refills on a really hot day like yesterday. She came once to give us our initial drinks but didnt come back to ask us anything. We got our food and she didnt come back to ask how our food was. We didnt see her at all after that and had to go inside to ask another waitress for water i am usually a good tipper but last nights service was awful. It wasnt even as busy as usual

I love the food and atmosphere at Chinos. Brought out of town guests with us and they really liked this little gem hidden by a greenhouse. So original.

The food is always delicious, and the service is always friendly. However, if you arent good and hungry when you get there, you sure will be by the time youre food arrives. This is a place that needs to provide pre-meal snacks or bread because preparation takes a while. Worth it, but be prepared to wait.

Food is excellent, but I am posting this review about an interaction we had with a staff member. When our server was at our table she was coughing, making my wife uncomfortable. When my wife asked if the server could put a mask on she was told that We dont have masks here. My wife also saw the server carrying our water glasses with her fingers inside the glass (this was before they were full) and without washing her hands after her coughing. My wife then asked for us to have a different server. Our meal went very well. After I had paid I overheard the same server complaining about my wifes request to another staff member. I calmly confronted the staff member to explain why my wife requested what she did and the server got very upset with me, implying that we were hypocrites as we didnt wear a mask, saying that her coughing was only clearing her throat and that she had washed her hands in the back. We had no issue with the server personally but her behavior had made my wife uncomfortable. Indeed, I was very satisfied with the servers description of her actions taken (i.e. washing her hands in the back), I am sure they follow the standards quite well. But when I told her that the way she was speaking to me and about my wife did not reflect positively on the establishment, she did not apologize and instead accused us of malicious intent, saying that she could have gotten in trouble because we asked for a different server. I apologized, for this was not my intention and left, as I could see the server was still upset with me. Our dining experience was wonderful, the food was excellent, and we have many memories in Chinos as it was the place where my wife and I had our first date. Unfortunately this experience has soured these memories. To think that none of this frustration would have happened if I had not overheard the server talking disrespectfully about my wife and confronted her makes me sad. I will make this clear, the food is excellent and we have had many positive experiences at Chinos before. But this interaction was very upsetting. We will not be returning to chinos again.

We came here for lunch after meeting with the florist. Lunch was so good and our server was amazing even though she had so many tables all on her own! The food was so good!

Not the best service, mask exemption are not recognized. Won t offer a mask if you don t have one along and refuse service.

We only went.in there for Gelato but excellent service!

Food was delicious as usual, appys were fabulous. Only negative was the white sangria didnt have much wine in it. Lots of fruits which was great but only a half full glass of wine which included ice and fruit. Overall still fantastic.

Really had a mixed experience. Service was attentive and friendly so that was nice. We ordered the appetizer sampler, a pizza, and gelato. Unfortunately, one of the appetizers was burnt. We did mention it to the server however we were still charged full price for it. Not sure that was fair, but we are not ones to make a fuss. We couldn t finish the pizza and had it boxed up. We left and forgot it.5 minutes after we left we realized we forgot the pizza and called to see if we could come back and pick it up. They had already thrown it out. Seems like something you would put aside for a bit just in case. The gelato was quite good and would recommend. All in all, a mixed experience.

Limited menu. Expensive for what you get. They offer only one type of calzone not made to order. Ceasar salad 12 dollars not tossed and maybe 5 leaves total. 18 bucks for soup and salad ? This place is a pass.

Chinos Bistro is a hidden gem tucked beside a wonderful green house called Sunshine Green house on the east edge of Steinbach. This quaint restaurant features a real wood fired pizza oven that produces the best pizzas and foccochia Ive ever had. The flavour combinations are delicious, upscale and unique and the crust is a thinner crust that still has substance. They offer a gluten free version too. I ordered the Chick pizza which consisted of a roasted garlic sauce , roasted chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, asparagus with fresh basil and a pesto drizzle. It was absolutely delicious. My companion ordered a Make Your Own version which turned out amazing too. We started with foccochia and an olive oil / balsamic vinegar dip which was light ,chewy and had a great flavour. The dip we tried was roasted garlic infused olive oil mixed with black pepper and honey balsamic vinegar from the local Prairie Oils & Vinegars shop. We then had the crab cakes & stuffed mushrooms which also were amazing, the mushroom caps were smaller but each was a bite of pure delight with its robust filling complimented with the balsamic reduction that was garnishing the plate. To me crab cakes are usually bland but these small gens had a light subtle taste that you couldnt stop eating which was totally complimented by the Chipotle sauce on each cake. Chinos has a fantastic dessert selection that you cant go wrong with any of the choices and if thats not hard enough they have a great selection of inhouse made Geletos. The service is attentive, helpful and friendly. The ambiance is simple but beautifully done with a relaxing feel. The attention to details such as using fresh ingredients, oil & vinegars from local shops and waxed fresh flowers from local artisans in the community is wonderful to see. Everything is made inhouse.and you can tell corners are not cut with the menu or ingredients Prices are very reasonable and portions are substantial. A restaurant that you must try.

The food was absolutely wonderful, we had an Indian style pizza, which was quite good, and spinach dip is always good (but it think this is the best I ever had) and the ambiance was great, we went when it was -35 outside and we got a seat by the fireplace, it was warm and cozy, and the gelato was also excellent! The waitress was also very knowledgeable about the food items and ingredients as well as very friendly!

Dropped by to buy some spruce trees. But I couldn t believe what I found a hidden gem right in steinbach. They have delicious desserts yummmm and there pizza are one of a kind reminds me of eating at the keg. Customer service was on point. Definitely a returning customer in summer for those delicious desserts. I m glad I went there to buy trees and I found a yummy place to eat. Steinbach keeps getting better at surprising me with these delicious hidden gems

Food was good, service was extremely slow. We could see food coming out of the kitchen but it wasnt being served in a timely manner. Tables werent being cleared. Food wasnt being brought to tables in order of being seated. Left with a hefty bill.

Honestly really love Chinos! They definitely provide an atmosphere you cant get at other sit down restaurants in Steinbach. Theyre pizza is some of the best Ive had. The Nutty Cluck is always my go to!

Cute little bisto with wonderful Gelatto. Menu items are not outstanding other than the pizza. So if you go for pizza and gelatto its a great place. Skip the rest.

10/10 worth it. Had the Tex-Mex pizza, honestly the name does not do it justice. Every ingredient was fresh, the flavors prominent and the service was intentional and kind. An absolute GEM if youre on the Steinbach area.

A fantastic place that has a great atmosphere and a variety of options from going there for their gelato, to grabbing a drink or coffee, to getting some fantastic wood fired pizza. The staff is always pleasant to deal with. Would definitely recommend.

Great Place... what a nice find in Steinbach. Saw the sign on the way to visit family; however family wanted to go to BP, thankfully I convinced them to try this place. Everyone was so happy we came here. All I can say is we will all be back again. Well done to the staff for the great service and recommendations. Great flavour profiles on all the food, especially Pizza. I give this place 5 stars, not Micheline 5 stars, but well done. The gelato bar is a nice touch after the meal.
