Great selection, with great hours for breakfast availability. The food is relatively lightly salted, which is probably a good thing. The vegetable omelette is wonderful. Vegetarian options: Reasonable selection of vegetarian options, but it might skew heavily towards breakfast options.

I was disappointed with my Eggs Benedict as both the egg and the hollandaise sauce were too watery.

Its my new breakfast place and Kal was nice to meet and are server well excellent

We were recommended this place if we wanted to grab a great breakfast. It is not particularly large and is accessible by foot, bike, bus or car. The interior is simple but not overly dated: booths and tables and chairs. We came here for breakfast and after assenting to coffee, our order was taken within a minute or two. The food came reasonably quickly and was generous in portion. We each had an egg and bacon sandwich and it was easily 2 eggs and 4 rashers of bacon if not more. The sandwich tasted great and we came away with a satisfied tummy. My only issue is pricing. Before deciding to visit, we looked at the restaurants menu on their webpage but when we were handed the menus by our server, there were several price discrepancies. The online menu states that the egg and bacon sandwich should be $8.95 but there is a full $3 difference to the in house menu. YES, someone is providing a service and running a business and yes, the menu states that prices are subject to change without notice but if youre going to change them, then the webpage could be updated accordingly. Wheelchair accessibility: I did not notice a drop in the pavement directly outside the restaurant. If requiring the use of a walking aid or wheelchair, the ability to maneuver at the 2 door entry system and inside could prove tricky without assistance

Great food! Pancakes are phenomenal, so fluffy! Friendly service. The seat yourself concept is a little strange since it then allows singles to take a booth and such but things do turn over fairly quickly.

Visit for breakfast as often as money allows. The best French Toast and my spouse bemoans the real fried potatoes with fried onions. His eggs are perfect, and his toast is buttered crust to crust, just the way they expect them to be, and his crispy bacon is as requested. How can you not love that kind of breakfast! The servers are welcoming and fast with the delivery of the orders. Very efficiently managed.

Great family food restaurant.

I got the Kals plate. It was filling but it would have been nice to have eggs included. The pancakes were huge buttermilk but fried in bacon grease it seemed like. Made them feel extra heavy on the stomach. Top up of coffee could have been a little more efficient. The place wasnt too busy. Lots of seats to choose from on a Monday mid-morning.

Visited today for the first time. Two eggs and back bacon with rye toast. Made to perfection with no grease on my plate! Thanks!

There was only 1 waitress but she was very good at managing her time and the tables, was very friendly. Food was good. Food came faster than we thought, wasent as busy as other places. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing food , service & small town cost atmosphere

Its a dump. After being told to find a seat we couldnt because all the tables were dirty/sticky, the floor was entirely covered in garbage and food debris as if they hadnt swept for WEEKS. The older lady is some of the worst service in town. Looks like she hates her job far too much to put any effort in at all. Tiny meal with a big pile of 10 cent potatoes for 20$. Basically a 20$ large fry. Not sure how this place is getting any good reviews, are they bribing people? Its a sad dump with incredibly poor service

Best pancakes I ve ever had

We have stopped by Kals Place for takeout two times in the last 10 days. Nina served us both times and was very pleasant and caring. We had the Club Sandwich (Real Turkey) and the 2 pcs Fish (Haddock) and Chips. Both meals were very good quality with generous portions. Highly recommend Kals Place when you are in Stittsville!

I didnt catch the name of our server but she was fantastic. The place was jammed and she was the only person serving tables. She didnt miss anyone. Food was really good and portions big. Had Kals breakfast special and I was full.

Amanda and Kim are the staples to make this the diamond of both Kanata and Stittsville. Kal(Also around for a chat) makes an amazing breakfast(best bacon in Ottawa imo) that brings me back over and over again! Fully recommend for both price and quality, never let down here. Parking: Large parking lot attached to this Stripmall, never an issue. Kid-friendliness: Families are definitely welcome, high chairs and boosters are available on request.

Based on previous positive reviews my wife and I decided to have breakfast here on a Friday. We love breakfast and have had many fabulous meals at a variety of places over the past forty years. Sadly, our breakfast here wasn t even good. The potatoes have potential but ours were stone cold and they charged us $.75 each for onions . I mean, who charges for onions? My wife s bacon was so fatty she could not eat it. To be fair, the poached eggs, ham and toast were good. The server was pleasant but way too busy to ask how our meals were or offer a coffee refill. We drove 30 minutes to try this place but it will be our last stop at Kal s.

Went for a mini vacation to Ottawa all the way from PEI. Had the 1 egg breakfast extra side of meat. The breakfast was delicious and their homefries were to die for. Highly recommend!

Saturday at 9am. No problem getting a table. Services was friendly and food served promptly. Eggs Florentine was flavourful and filling. Ive also had their omelets which are equally good. Great family restaurant.

Pretty disappointed. Came here for the 1st time today and brought my family for breakfast. First impression was dirty table we sat at for a while before we were noticed and the server walked past us a few times than cleaned the table. There was eggshells in the EggsBenedict and the potatoes were black and rock solid. More than half of them were unedible and taste like burnt toast. Than when it came to the bill we were overcharged for items when didnt get, thankfully I reviewed all items on the bill. We wont be returning, I really did hear good things thats why I came, perhaps quality control before servers pass out the food and this would have been avoided.

We are new to the area, and were looking for a good place for breakfast. Kals seemed to fit the bill, and did it ever! From a warm and gracious welcome, to excellent food (eggs Benedict and 2 eggs sunnyside with sausages), really good prices, and a warm farewell, we loved. It is going to be a regular stop.

Husband Daycare! Yes my wife had an appointment close by so I got to relax, read a book and enjoy great diner breakfast. This is no Michelin starred restaurant, this is a casual relaxing place to enjoy good food, good friends and a comfortable surroundings. Both family friendly and big appetite friendly. And it doesn t put a big dent in your budget. Parking: As it is in the strip mall parking is right out side the door minimizing and dash through inclement weather. Kid-friendliness: While it isn t a child care restaurant kids will enjoy the food as it is familiar and uncomplicated

Best place ever, great food and great service.

This is a restaurant you should visit if you havent already - if you have you most likely return often for the great service and food. My mum and I have regularly frequented Kals (before and after Covid protocol and have no complaints. Weve ordered the liver, Kals club, Pizza, Caesar salad and before Covid - their specials - all delicious and perfectly cooked. We have only experienced excellent service, a special shout out to Kim who remembers our wine preference and our usual orders - she makes us feel welcome and special - smiling as we enter and immediately accommodating - as if we are visiting her home. Thanks - these days thats hard to find. The restaurant is cozy - comfortable seating - the prices fair and the menu has excellent range for any family - we have our favourites but often wish we had ordered the same as other patrons as we see their choice go by...once you visit Kals once I guarantee there will a second and third visit! Updating - now April 2023 - we still receive excellent service and food on every visit. We have now tried Chopped Sirloin, Fish and Chips, Chicken Parmesan, Burger with mushrooms, all excellent - we go every week if we can - Update Nov 2023. Still superb and superior to any local restaurant. The service is more than anyone could expect. Amanda and Kim are our usual expert servers - genuine welcome, smile and again superb service . The food is excellent - we have sampled numerous plates - not one disappointed us. We have eaten caesar salad all over the city and vote Kals the very best. I challenge anyone to go there and leave disappointed.

I am genuinely concerned at how many people came on here to praise their bland, tasteless food. When I visited Kal s diner I was greeted with dirty tables and floors as well as a weird smell in the air. I have it a chance and I really should ve left on entry. There is a few things I found unpleasant about my visit. I mentioned cleanliness so I won t again but the other stuff is food quality and service. My food was unseasoned, bland and just poor quality. The Homefries are mushy and gross and my food was cold. As for service the two waitresses that look like mother and daughter I think one was named Alyssa(she was our server) were horrible. I saw the mother put on overbearing fake friendliness and be minimalist kind to people coming in and the daughter barely spoke or checked in. I did overhear some conversations between the mother and daughter and have never been so disgusted in my life. These waitresses were talking about people like garbage and saying things that came off as extremely racist, rude and inconclusive. After my horrid experience I didn t some asking around and from multiple sources found nothing but dirt on these two. Do not go here they ruined my experience! Vegetarian options: None Parking: None

Great Experience at Kal s Restaurant! My wife and I visited Kal s on Sunday and had a fantastic experience. It was busy but didn t matter because we were seated right away and promptly served a delicious, hot breakfast. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to our enjoyment. First time to this place this morning. Delicious food and great service. But most importantly REAL homefries as not frozen like most restaurants around. Great choice of Eggs Benny. We will return.

Everything here is awesome, food, service, price and quantity of food. The only short coming that this fine little restaurant has is that it is way too small for the volume of people that demand their food.

Kals is a small eatery which focuses on good food, great service at a good price point. The breakfast (served all day but may be surcharge after noon) is fresh and flavourful. I like my bacon crispy and the home fries crusty and I was not disappointed. I chose fresh tomatoes instead of toast. The coffee drinker in my party said it was good. I have been here previously for dinner and the pizza is excellent. Support local business. Thanks to our server, Amanda who provides excellent and friendly service

I ve only ever been to this place a few times and it was great. A friend of mine and I went on Saturday and the place had a line up out the door. Super happy to see businesses thriving like this, especially during these times. But with that said, we waited outside for a while and then inside and we re not even approached by any waitress or staff. Not to suggest a waiting time or take our information or even greet us. Some customers were rude, demanding the door be closed after we opened it a tiny bit to see if a hostess or something was near the door. Another table rudely asked for the inner door to be closed due to a draft when the group before us had it open for 20 minutes prior. Waitress didn t even look our way. Very annoyed, we left.

I visited in a Sunday around 9:30 and it was crowded. We had to wait for +- 10 minutes to have a sit, but the experience was really good! The food was tasty and the waiters were super kind. Recommended!

Top 3 pizza in the city. Service is always on point. Food is delicious and their breakfast is fast, inexpensive and tastes like homemade. Just wanted to add, we still go here all the time. Their food never disappoints. They have some of the best restaurant staff in the city, it feels like going to a friend house!

Had the dinner special tonight it was the best price to food value we have had in a long time. Had the soup or salad, with cabanera pasta, with coconut or banana cream pie for 20 dollars each. It was all so flavorful. Salad had real bacon, my husband had the turkey and barley soup with big chunks of turkey,pasta was creamy and filling( kept some for lunch tomorrow). But the star was the pie OMG words can not discribe how delicious it was. Please go and try it, you will not be disappointed.

This is a very loud restaurant. It is small, which is fine, because the service is quick. They oversell their famous home-fries. There is nothing special about them. They are fresh, never frozen potatoes, so thats a bonus, but they could be much crispier. Portion sizes are good. The coffee is horrible. They do make a very good omelette.

The food and service was excellent, there were no gluten free options for bread. Given that you can keep it frozen and serve toasted as needed, that was the only thing missing.

AMAZING!!! Arrived for lunch the restaurant was short staffed with only one waitress to serve everyone inside and out. Every table was filled. She did an amazing job her speed and her mannerism with every table was far beyond anyones expectations. The food came hot and fresh and it was delicious. I will definitely be back. We stopped while on vacation to Ottawa for lunch based on the reviews. We ordered the The Original Club- $17 Lettuce, Tomato, Bacon, Turkey & mayo with fries. The Sandwich was delicious, real turkey and fresh toppings. We are 2 seniors and werent that hungry and decided to split the meal. We had to order 2 drinks avoid a charge of $5 for splitting a meal. The owner was nice and friendly and we noticed her feeding a homeless person with a great looking pizza a unlimited pop. God bless her soul for being so kind and caring to the less fortunate. The world needs more people like you!

Great spot if youre in the mood for a quick greasy breakfast! The prices need to be updated on their website because at the time we went there was a $2-$3 difference for a basic Bacon and eggs. I knocked off 2 stars because the clump of bacon I got tasted like it was sitting in a warming plate for a long time. Well cooked but very soggy. Also, their famous potatoes are very bland and took up 1/2 my plate. The service was great! I love how they are open early!

This is a favorite breakfast place since my discovering it in the spring of 2022. More recently I tried the spaghetti and meatballs and Im very pleased to say it is now my favorite spaghetti and meatballs. Its low on fancy but high on flavor and is a generous portion for the price. Theres some celery & peppers in here, but other than that its a basic spaghetti and meatballs in meat sauce... very home style in a good way. Parking: Plenty of parking

a great local diner/pub. visited mid-week for lunch, it was pretty busy. I had a simple BLT ($11) which came with a generous portion of fries and small coleslaw. It was very good and an excellent value (only critique would be the bread was marginally over toasted, but not so much to detract from my score, might simply be my peference). Service was attentive and friendly. food came in under 15 min. my friend had a hot chicken sandwich which looked excellent and he commented how good the gravy was.
