Salmon starter was ok but the mains were quite a let down....lasagne lacking any nice flavour and the accompanying garlic bread did not taste of garlic at all, no vegetables with pork main on set menu, other pork dish just not very inspiring. Chips average rubbish and not hand cut. Puddings were nothing to write home about. Service was fine but did not make up for poor food. Why do you have to sit people so close together when there is loads of room in the restaurant?? Do yourself a favour and go next door to Lambs.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. Delicious food, delicious wine, very attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Pre RSC dinner. Opened 5pm, was full by 5 past 5. Service was happy and efficient. Food was great, including the best rump steak Ive ever had. We finished in plenty of time for the play ( which was also excellent) and all of commented on how great the choice of the opposition was for pre show meal. Highly recommend

Highlight for the service. Arriving before 6:30pm, a choice of 2 dishes costs £21.95. We opted for the Haddock and pork starters. The dishes were good but not very standout.

Only a short stay of 2 days in this city But I went there for two days. first night I decided to have dinner here after seeing the high scores in everyone s reviews on the map. As expected, the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. You can enjoy the food comfortably here. The price is not expensive at all Lets even have breakfast in the hotel the next day Why dont you come over and try the other dishes on the menu that you didnt order last night? Everything is amazingly delicious Recommended to travelers When you come to this city, you really must come to this restaurant to have a good meal Highly recommend! The food is so delicious~ I wanna visit this city again but not for Shakespeare. For the food and people here.

Visited for dinner. The atmosphere, service, and food are all great! The salmon fishcake, sautéed sea bream, and rump steak are all outstanding. I ordered tiramisu for dessert, and it was delicious without being too sweet. Very satisfied.

Superb service and really good food in a fantastic atmosphere

Lovely pre theatre meal on Saturday, we hadn t booked but they managed to fit us in. Service was prompt but we didn t feel rushed. Did the 3 course meal, both had the pate and the salmon, which was sublime. Had the rice pudding and Eton mess, again very yummy. Mulled cider was also very nice.

We had the pre theatre meal which was excellent value at £21 for 2 courses and £26 for 3. The food was delicious. I asked for a change to the main to avoid the chorizo hash and I was given new potatoes and spinach instead - perfect. Puddings are HUGE. The staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and cosy. Just right!

We were staying on Stratford upon Avon for a couple of days and went in on the evening without booking. They were really busy but squeezed us in. Although it wasn t a squeeze and we didn t feel rushed at all. Excellent atmosphere and food. Highly recommend. But also highly recommend that you book!!

A beautiful evening spent at the Opposition last night.We were a table of 4 and we were looked after from the minute we walked in til the moment we left.The service was great,never felt rushed,and the food was great we had four different Main courses and they were all as good as the other. Wow we had a really amazing dinner here, the service was really friendly, no pressure to leave at the end of the evening, a huge variety of food. We both had the plaice for our main course and it was cooked to perfection with lashings of butter - and the hazelnut parfait for dessert was lovely too. Could not fault, surpassed all expectations

This restaurant is really busy, small and crowded restaurants! The food was delicious but not amazing. Like my chicken pasta dish, had most chicken then pasta and it was a bit dry as well. The staffs are nice and they allow guided dog.

So good we travelled from Scotland to Oxford via Stratford to eat here. Food amazing once more. Ambience relaxed and conducive to good conversation. What a find!!!! Walking along Sheep Street to find a restaurant to eat after our long journey. Noticed restaurants offering fixed price menus at reasonable prices as pre theatre menu. We walked into this quaint beamed restaurant and were seated and welcomed. A little cool due to the breeze blowing in from the street but a lovely glass of Chardonnay golden in a sparkling glass sorted that. My husband praised his glass of Shiraz room temperature, deep flavoured and rounded. We selected our food meat balls in a rich tomato sauce, spicy and flavoursome and piping hot. My husband had Mexican chicken with salad for main course which had succulent moist chicken well cooked and I had roasted root veg with a crispy skinned sea bass fillet beautifully cooked and presented. Our dessert we chose a tiramasu quite adequate in flavour though without the depth of alcohol and coffee we are accustomed too. The meal cost £21.50 each for three courses. Great value, great tasty well cooked food and pleasant hospitable service. Thank you very much.

We was lucky to get a booking at the restaurant at short notice on the 22nd July as we were in Stratford for the weekend. Food, service and ambience exceptional. The cajun chicken was beautifully cooked and the presentation was excellent. Thank you.

Excellent experience, we booked a night in Stratford upon Avon at very short notice and chose a restaurant from Google Maps, one or two looked interesting but this one looked good and menu suited us, particularly gluten free menu. On the night, service was good, both ladies that served us were really good, helpful and attentive . Scallops and Mussels as starters first class, as was lamb and steak mains. One to go back to next time we are in Stratford. Dietary restrictions: Good choice for Gluten Free.

Absolutely fabulous experience. Stroganoff was sublime and lamb shank tasty and fresh. They found us a table at late notice and we felt properly spoilt all evening. Wine list small but mighty fine. Wouldnt hesitate to go back again, recommend you book a table and treat your tastebuds.

This restaurant more than exceeded our expectations. They managed to fit us in for my birthday meal after the original restaurant we booked had to close due to a gas issue. We couldnt have asked for more, staff were friendly, extremely accommodating and very efficient. Food was amazing and very well presented. We highly recommend a visit here and will definitely be back on our next visit.

Booked here for our pre-theatre meal. Excellent service - prompt but not pushy - and high quality food. Mine was the retro style prawn cocktail, generous and tasty, followed by pork tenderloin and slow cooked crispy belly pork. It had the best crackling ever. The vegetables, so often a disappointment in a restaurant, were cooked to perfection, even the cabbage. Very reasonably priced too.

This is one of our favourite places in Stratford upon Avon. Our family love this place... Great food, drinks!! It is cosy and comfortable. The menu is interesting, the food is fresh and well proportioned but most of all, the staff are truly amazing! Bravo to chef, Andy! Real credit to the company.

Lovely to be back at a favourite restaurant, especially as preceded by theatre after such a long time. Great choice on the menu and a good wine list all at reasonable prices. The chocolate marble cake is wonderful. Great service, lovely place to spend an evening. Visited again in June, another lovely experience to endorse the above review. Highly recommended..

Very nice food and each dish was well balanced for flavour. Chicken was very nicely cooked, soft and juicy. Desert Eaton Mess was really good. Not to sweet with fresh fruit and cream. Very enjoyable and recommend.

One of the best meals we have had in our month long vacation in England. Every dish was absolutely delicious. My wife had the deep fried haddock and chips and it was fresh and flaky - best we have had. My salad was fresh and creative. Our kids meals were similarly delicious. We would highly recommend!

Excellent. We ate in the second half of the evening, but the service was still great, all staff members were friendly and attentive. Food we had was excellent, and seeing the other dishes for other diners they all looked to be exceptional too. Our only downside was the table next to us was very loud, ( could hear every part of their conversation). Would highly recommend.

Cant fault our meals. Delicious! Nothing whatsoever to fault!! The only teeny tiny point I would like to bring to the attention of the management is the loos. They were clean but very dated and could do with an upgrade to bring them into the 21st century.

Was looking to see if I can do walk-in, dude who talked to me was quite rude, after I asked, he just said no and walked away, without asking if I d like to make a reservation for future. Maybe he s not the host but the hospitality here is definitely lacking and leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, puns intended.

Booked a table for my wife and I two weeks in advance. When we we arrived we were seated in a small corner on a bench which was barely big enough for one person let a lone two. I asked if we could be seated at the empty window table. First reply was, its not very big!!! Second reply was, its already been reserved!!! I was there, the other party wasn t. I was informed there were no other tables available. We squeezed into the bench table but couldn t get comfy, our legs were knocking together so we left and ate at The Encore. This restaurant shouldn t offer that bench as a table for two because its not.

Such an amazing find! Eating alone can be a bit tricky, but I was escorted to a lovely little table, tucked in a corner but with full view of the restaurant. Super food and super service. A must if you re in Stratford

A fabulous venue for pre-theatre meal and drinks. The staff were friendly and attentive. There is a set price menu, which is very reasonable at £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3. I chose the baked portobello mushrooms, which were delicious, but I thought Id still be hungry as I didnt choose a side to go with them. However, following dessert of banofee pie, I most definitely was not! My husband said the chocolate tart was the nicest dessert hed ever tasted. A great find and will return if and when we return to Stratford-upon-Avon!

This was my first visit to the Oppo, but I shall certainly be coming back! I had the oriental crispy duck salad to start, the Cotswold Lamb Steak with dauphinoise potatoes for main, and finished off with the banoffee pie. The food was delicious and excellently cooked. The staff were friendly and the service was efficient and swift. I look forward to my next visit.

Lovely restaurant on a historic street in Stratford upon Avon. We had dinner on Saturday evening and were able to have the set menu. Excellent value for money. My mum and I had a amazing meal , the service was fantastic and my mums gluten intolerance was no issue at all , she actually had too much choice which is a first , the mussels and the scallops were the best we d ever tasted and the crispy duck was to die for !!

It was recommended by our bnb host and we really enjoyed the place. We had the mussels and pork fillet & pork belly, the food was really good and came pretty fast.. Mussels were fresh and plump, the pork belly crispy but tender. Waitress was meticulous and despite not making a reservation on a Saturday as we have just arrived in town, they bothered to check the availability and gave us a table in 20 minutes.

We had two fantastic meals here when on holidays. From the garlic prawn starters to the steak, the set menu of terrine and tandoori salmon, to the lamb shank and cheese board, it was all fabulous food. Wine is very reasonable with a good selection and the service comes with a big welcome and smile with a great ambience and atmosphere. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for great food in Stratford.

Called in on a busy Wednesday night on the off chance and managed to book a table for 20:45. Went back on time and our table was ready, busy but relaxed atmosphere and staff couldnt be more pleasant. I had garlic foccacia and my partner had mussels to start. Lamb shank to follow for me and she had the beef stroganof. Food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. Well certainly be back next time we visit Stratford.

We ate at this restaurant for the first time last night. I had the monkfish wrapped in parma ham and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were very friendly and the had a lovely atmosphere. If I get the opportunity, we shall return.

Excellent service great food reasonable prices

Lovely situation in Stratford, great food and friendly staff. The only problem was that the tables were too close together, not socially distanced so we didnt feel particularly safe during this Covid time. A couple were shown to a table close to us but they asked to be moved elsewhere. Its a big place with lots of tables but they only used ones in the main room for some reason.Would have expected use of the other areas and more space between the tables to make people feel comfortable and reassured. If the tables had been properly distanced would have rated 5 stars.

Had the 2 course set menu with a glass of house rose. Well cooked food, beautifully presented. More interesting menu than most restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff. Decor creates a cosy feel. Would definitely recommend.
