Really disappointed with our works Christmas meal yesterday that we were all so looking forward to. We had all travelled miles from Newcastle upon Lyme down to Bristol and Swindon so we're disappointed when we had to wait over an hour for our starter even though there were only us and two other tables there! The starter and dessert were lovely but the main was horrible!!! The turkey was the worst I have ever had, it was either Bernard Matthews slices or sandwich turkey slices. It tasted nothing like turkey. Very disappointed as the turkey is the main part of the meal. The potatoes and roast veg were undercooked and hard still. We felt a nuisance to the waiter like he couldn't be bothered and we ordered drinks which didn't arrive. We were a party of 10 people so spent a lot of money but normally you expect nice food and friendly service but not here. Definitely won't be returning. I don't normally leave bad reviews but people need to know. The atmosphere there is just poor
Work Christmas party - very enjoyable meal. Very pretty restaurant and great atmosphere. We had a 3 course set money that was great value for money. Tomato soup for starter was tasty and creamy and came out piping hot. Roast Turkey as a main, which is a personal favourite me. Generous portion and very tasty and juicy turkey. Creme Brule was huge, the sugar was perfectly crip and the middle was creamy. Lovely restaurant would definitely recommend.
Good food, bonus points for having not just one alcohol-free wine but a selection… loses points for tired-looking decor (inside and out) and slow service.
I stayed at the Swans nest hotel and this gorgeous french restaurant is based inside the hotel. I didn't make a reservation, and I was greeted and served by a lovely guy. The food was delicious and the décor in the place was absolutely stunning. I really enjoyed my experience staying in the hotel.
Food was lovely ! Staff were lovely. The only down side is for nearly £50 for Two mains and one pint felt slightly pretentious. Wouldn’t recommend for the average person, aimed more for higher class folk. Overall good experience but left feeling underwhelmed and not willing to pay more due to food being very flavourful and well cooked but small portion which doesn’t reflect price. I’ve paid less at different venues for similar if not better quality. Spent 30 mins at the venue, food was delivered very quickly.
Delicious food and dog friendly bistro. I’ll definitely return in the future as there’s loads more to try on the menu. We had the Sunday roast deal, 2 roasts and a bottle of wine for £40 👌🏼
Great restaurant. I stayed at the Swan Nest hotel next door and as a result I had dinner, breakfast and lunch in the Bistrot Pierre. The restaurant has its own app that I would highly recommend downloading as it has daily offers, discounts on meals and drinks (including alcohol). The more you spend via the app the bigger the savings you can add to your bill. The restaurant has a great location and also has the hotel pub (The Bear 🐻) next door. Staff are friendly and food and drinks are very reasonably priced. It's the second time I've been to the restaurant in a year and would definitely go back again.
I had five delicious meals here in Bistrot Pierre. The staff were super friendly without exception. The food was exciting and delicious, if rather on the expensive side. My dog was made welcome. I was served by many helpful waiting staff who could not do enough, even helping me with the buffet breakfast by bringing toast, hot drinks and such to the table. In particular, Kraskia, Luisa, Oliver, Ben, Rob and Flo gave extremely good service. They all worked extremely hard.
Wine was warm and sent back...starter was cold and sent back..service was brilliant though.
I feel its unfair to do poor reviews but I am genuinley disappointed. I drove over 2 hours to meet my friends and colleagues at the Stratford on Avon restaurant today. We pre ordered our food days before but we sat waiting for starters for well over an hour. The food itself was such poor quality. The level of customer care was close to non existent as we were asked who was having what in a tone that you would imagine behind the scenes in hells kitchen. Its sad to have had this experience especially when the restaurant was so quiet. Sorry to be so daming but this was the reality
Lovely place dropped in for a late lunch, first time in Stratford upon Avon, food super, great wine list, good staff
interesting customer service experience
Superb Christmas menu
Food was lovely, good vegetarian choice as well as varied menu. Staff friendly, service was good Food
Really good Sunday roast service was excellent would recommend
Excellent food with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff could not do enough for us. We had a lovely meal there.
Very good steak frites. Staff were good fun and effective.
Fabulous. Excellent experience after attending Ballet performance
Delicious food, highly recommended
Absolutely delicious food. Nice setting, staff attentive. Flavours were amazing... thank you!
We used to visit Bisto Pierre often, but havent been for a while. The lovely French stick and butter used to be complimentary but now £3.95. However my main issue was the fillet steak, it was absolutely tiny (like a normal fillet cut into thirds), over cooked and over seasoned. Certainly not worth the £28.95 they charged. I asked the waiter if this was correct and he said yes, for a fillet. Thanks but no thanks.
Extremely tasty menu at value for money prices and always piping hot with very personable staff
Lovely place to spend the evening, or afternoon drinks!!
Lovely staff, Lovely food. Catered for our Dietry needs and gave us Mocktails on the house for our anniversary. First 5 star review in a long time
A lovely place with river view and a great sense of calm. Food was delicious the service was excellent- friendly but efficient
My daughter of 7 years old is type 1 diabetic and this place catered for her and gave the carbohydrates for her food without hesitation yesterday which saved us guessing medication .. multiple places weve been havent known what carbs there food hold so they arent diabetic friendly as she needs a insulin needle for every carbohydrate she eats... so the service and food was impeccable cheers guys
Lovely service . Food dreadful soggy chicken m ash which appeared to be from powder mix and choux bun was rock solid like appeared bathed to solid but the hot chocolate sauce was lovely. Room full of old folk staying at hotel and food aimed at that Food
Really good food, but very noisy in the restaurant.
Overall was good but was slow in service even for pre-booked meals
Slow service to the point we had to ask to have our food order taken. Food very very average for inflated prices. Lacking in customer care and people skills. Would not recommend.
Busy, even as early as 6.30pm. Staff struggling to cope with the numbers but kept calm.
Big mix up over dishes we had ordered. Also mix up about our reserved table. Staff did their best to put it all right. Food : 3/5
Shame about the noise from children whos adults allowed them to shout, whistle and repeatedly bang items loudly on their table but otherwise lovely. I understand children need expression etc but myself and my friend have very sensitive hearing and this expression caused us great discomfort. Thats on the adults though, not the bistro.
Excellent food, dropped in last minute, waitress was very accommodating, food was excellent and even though they were busy didnt feel ignored Thank you Food
Bistrot Pierre was one of my favourite restaurants for a long time, I m from Birmingham so I ve eaten lots at the Sutton Coldfield venue and the gas street one. Went for a nice day out in Stratford and to be honest my experience of dinner really put a downer on the day. I felt the staff were very rude and unhelpful which created a tense atmosphere. Was asking about drinks and was told to read the menu. I work in hospitality to I know things can get stressful but the tone in which he used upset me a bit, spoke to me as if I was an idiot. Later on had to ask twice for peppercorn sauce and still didn t receive it. Drinks weren t the best (out of a bottle so not their fault) so I asked for some sugar, I know it s extra but it really wasn t sweet enough for me, and was told they don t have any? They obviously do because I m seeing teas and coffees go out. Just felt like they didn t like us from the moment we stepped in and I m a polite person so I don t know why. Would hate to think it s a race thing but maybe it was. Anyway, really put me off visiting any of the Pierre s again but I definitely won t be coming back to this one. (Toilets also need to be signposted, had a mare trying to find the ladies and when I asked where they were the guy just pointed. Still took me ages to find them)
Great place to eat when at Bancroft gardens
A lovely bistro with delicious and very reasonably priced food. Very central, near the river and RSC.
Had breakfast here, was the worst breakfast that we have had in the 2 weeks that we have been in England. Son had a piece of wire stuck to his bacon, looked like it was from a scouring pad used to wash pan. Bacon was hard, dry & tasteless, egg was overcooked & dry. Toast bread & juice were nice. Didn t get asked if we would like tea or coffee till we were nearly ready to leave. Manager did apologise for wire in breakfast & only charged us for 1 breakfast.
Visit here if you come to Stratford. The service from Filippo, his staff and food are amazing. Thank you so much
Booked a meal out with friends. Interesting menu but few vegetarian options. Very tasty; all nicely cooked and presented. Many thanks! Vegetarian options: Poor selection for no-fish V. Parking: No venue parking. Use council P&D nearby.
Busy but well managed with great service!! Food as expected was amazing!!
Just delicious.
Without doubt, two of the best meals Ive had in the UK in a very long time. The menu is well thought through, with options for all, and the food is superb. Service and atmosphere are great too.
Food was decent if not a little over priced. One of our party was gluten and dairy free and was made to pay £4.50 extra for their dish to swap potatoes for chips which was a bit cheeky considering our bill was £160+. Food was nice (if not a bit pricey for portion size). Would avoid if you have significant allergies though.
Food for half a person Very small portion High price for what it offers There is no parking It took a long time to serve, it took just over an hour between ordering and receiving the dishes.
Excellent location + good food
Food was terrible and overpriced. My children s meals were put through to come out as a starter alongside the breadboard we ordered, even though I never requested that. This resulted in the adult s mains arriving 25 minutes after the kid s. Had to remind them to bring out our drinks, one of which they got wrong. Toilets were filthy. We had about 4 different people serving us so communication was extremely poor. A compulsory service charge was included, which we were not made aware of at any point. An overall terrible experience.
Nice meal Freindly staff Food
Lovely, lovely atmosphere.
Location lovely if you can get a window seat. Service mediocre although food came out fairly quickly. Food is a hit and miss though especially fish. Incredibly awful sauce that was provided with over cooked seabass on Easter menu recently. Very expensive and always check the bill as it has never been correct on first issue so be warned.
A definite drop in standards since last visit.Very poor quality and similar to a very bad airline meal. Will not be visiting again unless I hear there has been a huge improvement
Our first visit to a Bistrot Pierre and it really delivered. The venue in Stratford-upon-Avon is in a great location in terms of the views of the river and nearby parking. Be aware that if walking to the restaurant over the bridge from the town centre, crossing the main road can be a bit tricky, so choose your spot carefully. Reserving a table online in advance worked perfectly. Thoroughly recommend requesting a table by the window or on the outdoor seating area which is wonderful. The food was excellent. Can definitely recommend the fishcakes and the risotto. The 2 cocktails for £12 was a bonus and the classic mojito was really well put together. Really refreshing for a weekend lunchtime. Our service was provided by Lucia who was absolutely wonderful. She knew the menu, made some great drinks recommendations and was attentive and a joy to engage with. Top marks to Lucia for making it a great visit.
Breakfast before the truck home, very nice not too big
We stayed at the swans nest hotel. Popped in for a quick lunch. Food was very good.
We had a great lunch today of onion soup, steak frites and crème brûlée. This is a great place for some simple French food well done at a senible price. The location is good as well.
Lovely location, views and atmosphere. However, do not attend for lunch - unless you want a lot of dry microwaved food
Amazing food, good prices and food came out super fast
Good food, fantastic menu. Would give a 5 for service if we had the same waiter all night. The initial person had no knowledge of the menu. Thankfully, May went above and beyond.
Good fixed price menu
Dietary restrictions: Excellent attention to allergies and great choices available for gluten free and pescetarian Food
I had dinner here it fantastic and amazing quality and their Sunday roast is lovely and they dessert options are good
Good service and good quality
Lovely bistro ! Returned here after a brilliant experience last time and its still amazing! Couldnt find any fault if I tried! Staff are helpful, food is incredible and its all round fantastic!!
Had a great breakfast with the family.
Enjoyed ...... No Food
Ive been to the one in Birmingham and for me unfortunately, Stratford doesnt reach the mark. Steak and chips was below avg, I could make better at home and thats not what I want from a restaurant. Was also difficult to find a waiter when you wanted one.
Had a great room! Kate and her reception team are great! Special thanks to Krasi and Luiza who were both excellent host and server. Always friendly and helpful!! Thank you both! We only ate at the pub one time and it was very good. The breakfast menu regretfully is somewhat limited for people who wish to eat healthier with fruits and juices. Only green apples and oranges. The real downer was Christmas morning breakfast with a total of 6 dogs some barking and some less than clean in the dining area. One lady had her dog on the table then moved it to the bench seat! One couple brought in 2 dogs wet from the rain. This morning one lady wanted water for her dog out if a dish. We love animals including dogs but at the right place and time and clean!! Management .really ?????
Excellent
Wonderful hotel, great food, super service especially Eric what a fine young man and a great waiter.
Wonderful place superb treatment at Christmas amazing
Me and my wife decided to have a meal here as we heard it was a good place to eat, however when we sat down it took over 20 minutes for the staff to come over and take our order even though it wasn t busy at all, once receiving our mains my wife food was stone cold and my steak was well over cooked not what I expected, they did redo our order where they got it correct second time around and the food was lovely but I just couldn t wait to finish and get out, for the price we paid I expected a lot more in service and food quality
Hadnt been here since Covid times but decided to Have our New Year Day meal here, Great service and food, Slight issue with one of the starters but server sorted and was very apologetic. Very good price compared to most restaurants in Stratford and the app discount is great too, Will return soon. Dietary restrictions: Lots of GF options for me and also Kid choices are very good, Ticks all the boxes
Enjoyable Christmas lunch. We had to pre order. It would have been nice to have a note of which guest pre-ordered what meal. We could not remember. The online ordering system was confusing. Pricing was higher than expected. Food
I went for dinner yesterday it s excellent and amazing food never ever tried before in other restaurants rump steak Is very good and all must try their beef bourgnion as well good quality as well. I love it
We had such a lovely meal and experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. Extensive menu it was difficult to make a choice. Will have to return to sample the other dishes I liked the look of. Reasonably priced too with some good offers.
My friend and her family and my son and I love this restaurant . It is excellent value for money . The steak frites is excellent with succulent meat and hot crispy fries . The pot au chocolat is the best I ve had in the U.K. Filipino , the Manager always tries to accommodate even when we forget to book . See you next weekend ! Karen
Good service, varied menu and good service
Had Christmas lunch there food was lovely and the staff did a great job serving everyone
Not as good as the one in Birmingham, so I was a bit disappointed. The service was good and the atmosphere nice of course.
Lovely food and fabulous service. Will be visiting again
We had a wonderful meal tonight, staff where extremely attentive within a very relaxed atmosphere.
Good food, nice ambiance and lovely staff
Very were very disappointed have been coming here for years and always had an excellent meal had set menu but very poor felt place had also got shabby and that it was going down hill Was not up to usual standard Also had 10 % service put on bill which never had before sad
DELICIOUS!! And well priced it was incredible
Lovely breakfast and excellent service.
My daughter and her boyfriend visited the Stratford Upon Avon restaurant on Friday 27th January. She was celebrating her 18th birthday which was a few days earlier with her boyfriend who is not yet 18. She ordered a cocktail for herself and a non-alcoholic drink for her boyfriend. Unfortunately the manager embarrassed her and ruined the evening by refusing her drinks order despite ID being provided by her. I have been contacted by the restaurant but I am still very unhappy with the outcome. I believe this could have been handled more sensitively and perhaps if the restaurant suspected her letting him drink her cocktail they could have refused further alcoholic drinks.
Not a great experience Im afraid!!! The food was reasonably priced, but small portions and over cooked, the waitress looked like she would rather be somewhere else! Not great service, and to add insult, the service charge was automatically added to the bill !!! Its such a shame as this is in a good location, but they obviously dont care!!!
We had a reservation for a family group of 7 on a quiet Sunday evening. We ve previously had a Sunday roast here with great success, but this is our 2nd visit since and there is now very little to recommend Bistrot Pierre. Firstly, it was cold in the restaurant. 3 of us had coats over our knees and by the end of the meal, 2 of us had put our coats on! We asked for the heat to be turned up (or a/c turned off) but we were still cold . Next, the service was friendly enough, but quite inattentive and slow, and it got slower through the evening, as we got colder. Lastly, and perhaps unsurprisingly, the food was not hot enough. I m sorry to say, Bistrot Pierre, we won t be coming back until you get the basics right: sort out your heating, train your staff, supervise them (was the guy at the bar *really* over 18???), get your food prep right and keep it hot until it reaches the table.
Food and service hit and miss. Ordered steak frites and offered pink or well done. Asked for pink but bavette steak was overdone, tough and flavourless. I complained but got no feedback. Ordered the cheese board for pudding, and my companion ordered the creme brulee, and we asked for coffee to be served at the same time. Coffee came first and after waiting a few minutes I had to chase up the puddings. Cheese board came minus the rustic sourdough and the creme brulee was so thin it was more sugar than creme. I asked for the discretionary 10% tip to be removed. Overall a disappointing experience that wont be repeated.
Ver nice friendly place staff very helpful. Food was very good & reasonably priced.
Part of Swans Nest. We were part of a large group.... Everyone got what they ordered ..... Which was a feat as well! Decent food. Food
Nicely located hotel restaurant in Stratford. Food was tasty and well presented, but meals outside the lunch offers would have to be considerably better/bigger/different to account for the increased price.
Nice place, but disappointed on quality and service, we had the same problem last summer, shame because we used to like eating here and was hoping they had sorted problems with service and cooking quality
Wonderful dinner, the boeuf bourguignon excellent and also the chicken fricassee most delicious. Lovely friendly staff and French Bistro style ambience. A very nice evening. Well done Vegetarian options: A couple of choices
Went for mothers day dinner, been here a few times before so know what it should be like. Firstly I should say that the food was good as was the service but the problem was when we came to order we were told there was no roast dinners, i.e. No roast beef, no roast chicken, no roast pork belly!!! On a Sunday? On mothers day? The reason or excuse was that they had been exceptionally busy earlier. Being mothers day what do expect??! Alternatives were ordered and consumed. Now came the puddings, we were told the 1 item was unavailable which one of us wanted so we ordered alternatives, the waitress came back and said these were unavailable. This is when we asked for the manger. Reason was as above but she did sort out alternative as my daughters did not want anything else on the menu, she also reduced the bill which helped a little but I was not happy the overall experience. Doubt if I will be going back as there are other good restaurants around Stratford -upon- Avon that have whats on their menus.
Dreadfully slow service and pretty poor beer choice. This place used to be great. Best find somewhere else
Not up to usual standards in other Bistro Pierres Ive visited
Really nice food, not to expensive. Will be visiting again.
Staff were polite and friendly. The choice was great. And the food was superb
We enjoyed our meals. They were a generous size and looked lovely. We waited over 45 minutes for our meals and others that arrived after us and ordered after us were served their meals so it made the experience a little less enjoyable.
On a visit to Stratford, we had lunch at Bistrot Pierre - just over the river from the RSC - on the spur of the moment. We were not disappointed. The location and ambience were ideal, the welcome and service were most hospitable, and the fixed price menu (three courses) had a good varied selection - and was delicious. Both Freya and Ben who served us were excellent. A most enjoyable visit, with good food, nice people and in a lovely location.
Service very slow. Asked for fishcakes with poached egg, egg arrived boiled (well done), just wondering how can they not even check before serving?! Risotto was nothing special either.
Steak full of grizzle. Had to wait over 30 minutes between first and second courses. Manager offered free wine rather than replacement meals. Side orders arrived when we had nearly finished the main meal. Restaurant not crowded. Short staff in the kitchen? But this would not explain the poor quality of the meat. Dietary restrictions: Forgotten although we preordered and explained
Restaurant very Busy service spot on and food was flourishing and testy nice place for dining Vegetarian options: Vegetable bourgonion
Having first visited the Bistrot Pierre in Torquay and been so impressed with the food, its become a mission whenever visiting anywhere where a BP is situated to eat there. Firstly unlike other chains they are not generic from the outside. This one was attached to the Swan Hotel and close to the River though a road and another establishment sits between it. I believe the menu differs in each Bistrot location also. It is reasonably priced with various special deals usually available. We went for the two courses for £19.95 which also includes a drink ..wine, beer,or soft drink. The three course is £22.95. there are several dishes in each course to choose from. The chicken diane was delicious and well seasoned. The pannacotta desert was lovely and creamy. There were some new staff in training and unfortunately their inexperience was reflected in the service.. however everything else was lovely, our meeter and greeter Filipio (?) Was engaging with a great sense of humour. And though we arrived earlier than our booking we were able to be seated straight away. A definite recommendation.
l went here for a friend hen do l had the onion soup with smoked salmon fish very tasty
Sunday Roast was amazing meat is tender and potatoes full of flavour, calamari nicely cooked as should be brulee exactly like you have in france our server was great also, will back soon
Shame the breakfast wasnt up to par it had been recommended. Well have to call in again just hope it was a bad day.
We had 2 Calamari starters. Beautifully seasoned and fried. Would like to have a slight bigger portion however would still highly recommend. The half chicken again was brilliantly cooked, very moist! Best of all was the sirloin streak- genuinely the best cooked steak I ve had in 25 years. Literally so soft it melted in the mouth. The peppercorn sauce was also full of flavour. The chef that prepared and cooked that steak needs all credit. 10/10
At 7.45pm I walked in without a table reservation and the restaurant was 1/3 full at most. For several minutes I was spotted but not attended to. Finally a person came over to seat me, I asked for a table for 1 and was told theyd stop serving and I couldnt be seated, there were no tables available (there were plenty) and the kitchen was closed. Meanwhile well-heeled, very middle class couples were just being given menus to order from. Im not really sure what kind of social racism exists or what secret door policy excludes single males in their 40s whove decided to treat themselves to a meal out but instead get treated to a dish of cold humiliation. I got a friend to call 20 minutes later and there were tables still available. Surprise surprise.
Steak very delicious, and Camembert with onion yummy too
Pre theatre dining 2 course with wine excellent value. Good range of choice on menu. Food was very good. Served in good time to get to performance.
Dear Bistrot Pierre, I do not often like to leave complaints and you can check my review history to confirm this. However, I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at your restaurant on Saturday 20/05/2023. I had made a reservation for my girlfriends birthday dinner, and we were very excited to try your restaurant. Ive come from London and I understand that Stratford-upon-Avon is the home to the great playwright William Shakespeare and the staff at your restaurant must be well versed in his works because they were doing their best to reenact a comedy of errors. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. The wait between seating and receiving our main courses was almost two hours. When our drinks arrived, the Pimms was not strong enough, and the vodka lime and soda tasted like it had no alcohol despite the bartender insuring us there was vodka in the glass. The attitude of the bartender was rude and dismissive, they resolved the problem by bringing an extra shot but then added it to the bill at the end. Furthermore, the manager would shout orders when they were brought to us, which was very unprofessional. He would also shout steak when five different people had ordered steak in different ways. This was very confusing and disruptive. By the same token, the staff were also very unprofessional. They asked to take our order and then walked away. They did not take our deposit off the initial bill, and we had to ask for it to be reduced. We also asked for a few slices of extra bread to be brought out for our parfait, but we cancelled this after 15 minutes because it took too long because the kitchen was too backed up. I can understand a kitchen being busy but taking this long to grab bread is unacceptable. One of the waitresses seemed unsure of herself and asked us to wait when we asked to order drinks. Another waitress did not seem to understand how to use her tablet for ordering and was searching for drinks in the food section. When I tried to complain about the service, the same waitress having issues with her tablet repeatedly interrupted me before I finished what I was saying and did not listen to any feedback . After all of this, she asked what the occasion was and, upon hearing that it was my girlfriends birthday, asked if we wanted bubbles. We assumed this meant champagne or prosecco, but she actually blew bubbles in our faces. She was smiling and laughing while doing this, which seemed to indicate that she did not understand that our mood was sour and this was not appropriate at the time. I went to relay my feelings to the manager and another patron was mid-complaint. The manager apologized for the problems we experienced, but the excuse was that the kitchen was busy. However, not all the tables were occupied and in my opinion a restaurant such as this should be able to function with the number of people present on a Saturday night. If they are unable to run a service then they should refuse bookings and this may explain the delay in food but not the abysmal service. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at your restaurant and I am flabbergasted by the attitude of your staff. I expected better, especially for a special occasion like my girlfriends birthday. I hope that you will take my complaint seriously and make an effort to improve the service at your restaurant. I would have been happy to just leave this at the restaurant but it did not seem like any of your staff were interested in receiving any criticism or feedback. Sincerely, Ahmed
We stayed in the swans nest adjacent to bistrot Pierre, we decided to have a meal here and were very pleasantly surprised It was busy but our group of 8 were seen to in good time Rob was a star here, but all the staff were great Prices were fair Excellent food service ambiance and wine! 10/10
Food good. Waiter got drinks order wrong. Only one of the three French cheeses were French. Waiter also really unfriendly. Do not agree with the automatic service charge added to bill. Also does not take AMEX.
We went as a table of 6 for dinner last night and honestly the experience was terrible. The food was bellow an acceptable standard and certain items had been substituted without any consultation. We had pork medallions as one dish which was over cooked and also had gammon slipped in between pork as clearly they didn t have enough pork to fulfil the order. The manager/head waitress was one of the most unpleasant and unfriendly members of staff I have met in the world of hospitality. Very cold from the start and finished off by providing us with a bill without asking and then proceeded to stand at the table with a card machine until we had paid. She then instructed us to leave and take our drinks/coffee to the bar as they were closing. This was a good 10-15 minutes before the advertised closing time of the restaurant and after paying a £300 bill totally unnecessary. Basically if you want poor atmosphere poor service and poor food book a table here. Such a shame as we have visited this restaurant repeatedly over the years but this will be the last.
Nice place
Lovely food. Staff were nice. Outdoor section close to a busy road
We had the most delicious dinner here! Our server Ben was brilliant, we were a bit cheeky and asked if we could have a few of the starters but smaller portions, sadly we couldnt but he explained about their members club which lets you try the whole menu but in smaller portions. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely, we had a lovely seat in the window look out over Stratford. Im excited to visit again.
Lots of gluten free options, including a fabulous Tarte au citron for dessert
A lovely meal with fabulous food and wine, with great service.
Menue had chanhed from last week so the risotto and belly pork wasnt on then the wrong meal arrived so had to wait even longer. The table was very wobbely so spilt water all over table and staff were not very gend up shame as its our favourite reseraunt.
Staff need training. Very slow service even though we were the only ones there to begin with. Food variable. Will not go back. Food : 3/5
Good food. Service a bit slow but pleasant environment overlooking the river.. Sure they were just busy tonight..
Brought out pink gin instead of normal Gordons, which would have been fine but you used the same glass?! And my wife could still smell the pink gin, its a good job she wasn t allergic to the fruit remnants. Blonde burley barman was wiping his nose with the back of his hand! He then put glasses onto a tray when serving by putting his fingers in the glasses. My wife ordered steak no chips but salad but it came out with chips and very little salad and the salad was warm as it was left on a heated plate. Some staff look miserable. It was our anniversary so we were not impressed, disappointed considering what you believe is a professional restaurant, it isn t. However my haddock was very nice. Girl who served us was very nice but we won t be back !
Great place good location but certain staff no idea absolute rubbish
Dont waste your money, evening meal, chicken fricassee, food put under a hotplate, which left a ring around the plate from the sauce, the plate was about 200 degrees hot, the asparagus was burnt everything else crispy, the breakfast was no different, 1 sausage 1 rash bacon pot of beans, half a tomato and half a mushroom, thats a full English breakfast.
The manager was not very helpful and made us feel he was doing a favour by serving us! Someone did explain later that he had been on a long shift but thats not my fault. I suppose the problem is not enough staff to conver shifts? It was a shame because the food was good and other staff members were pleasant and helpful.
Weve been to Bistrot Pierre many times before and always had delicious food and excellent service. Disappointingly, this was not one of those occasions. Having arrived 10 minutes early for our 4:30 reservation, we waited about 30 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. We asked if there was a good beer on tap and were recommended a pretty awful lager: Its nice. Trust me, its nice. It was not nice. When our food order was eventually taken, we had one person who only wanted something light: one of the starters to eat as a main. It arrived as a starter, but when we checked that the mains were also coming we were told they were. The starter had to go back. Wed ordered a beef bourguignon and a vegetable bourguignon. The vegetable one arrived first, after nearly an hour, and announced simply as bourguignon. We asked, beef or vegetable? Beef. OK, thats over there. Then the other bourguignon arrived, and we were told that was the beef. After making absolutely certain, the plates were swapped somewhat clumsily but the vegetable bourguignon, despite being on a plate too hot to handle, was cold. The extra portion of chips and the chips with our burger were cold. The chips were replaced with warm ones, but the bourguignon was barely warmed up at all. We sent it back, and our guest ate elsewhere. The beef bourguignon was at least warm, but what I assume was pancetta in the sauce was overcooked and hard, and the dauphinoise potatoes tasted very acidic, like vinegar. This was all very disappointing and embarrassing wed recommended Bistrot Pierre on the strength of our previous excellent visits, but unfortunately our guests left with a very poor impression and will not be visiting again, and were left wondering whether our intended visit to the Nottingham restaurant at the weekend is a good idea after all.
Breakfast on a Saturday ought to be an enjoyable visit to anywhere that calls itself a Bistrot, but sadly it was less than stellar. It was surprisingly quiet which probably should have set off alarm bells. We had to some extent expected there to be French patisserie on display but whatever there was, it was hidden away in the back. We opted for a couple of dishes that seemed unlikely to be difficult to get right, scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and mushroom fricassee on sourdough toast. In both cases the toast appeared to have been lightly warmed by a 100W lightbulb, there was no browning and no crunch, even on the edges. Worse still the scrambled eggs appeared to have been microwaved, and as a result were the consistency of foam rubber. The mushroom fricassee was thankfully more edible, but the overall experience was disappointing and together with the slow service has put me off going here again.
Was here for my husbands birthday the service was absolutely shocking after 40 minutes waiting for our mains and asking where our meals were it turns up not how we requested ir cooking, when we sent it back the manager came and said we can do it again in about 7 mins so my question is why were we waiting 40 mins in the first place to be served rubbish
Arrived 5 45 and hardly anybody in. Got our petit plat after about 20 minutes then waited until about 6 50 for our main course . Given desert menu quite quickly but then nothing so decided to leave about 7 25. No excuse given for very slow service from kitchen when obviously not busy. We saw two other couples walk out because they were dissatisfied. My husband informed them it was a significant birthday when he booked and there was no acknowledgement.
Good menu, well cooked, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Quiet though.
Excellent service nice atmosphere food is yummy perfectly cooked especially roast potatoes very delicious.
Excellent service. Lovely food.
Good food for acceptable (plus) prices.
Lovely food ,,,bit over priced..
Nice relaxed dining atmosphere, lovely food and nice staff. We will be back for sure!
good
Bistrot Pierre, was good very enjoyable.
Lovely food...lovely staff! The three course meal deal is excellent! Food : 4/5
What a great place. Food was great, staff were great and atmosphere great
Once again staying in Stratford upon Avon we had a lovely comfortable stay our room was lovely, clean and relaxing, and I slept like a baby.
Had dinner here last night, starters were lovely and arrived very quick then we had a long wait for the main and had to prompt the staff as 3 other tables who arrived after us had already finished their mains. The poached egg on my partners dish was solid, very underwhelmed by the whole main dishes. We had a mumbled apology from a young staff member, I get that mistakes can be made, but I feel customer service is a thing of the past in most places and no exception here. The restaurant looked the part but didn t follow through
Limited menu and slow service.
Slow service, had to ask for drinks. Brought the main course before the starter, which we were then billed for. No one was really on the ball. Sad as a lovely location on a beautiful evening.
Lovely place to eat as a solo traveller
Came here last year food amazing as usual. Tried the calamari for the starter but not a fan cooked to perfection but I did not enjoy but its the first time I tried it. But the food is fantastic and service is great had a couple of pints of cider to wash it down definitely recommend
Very nice restaurant .reasonable prices, good quality food, nice Riverside setting would go again
Pleasant setting, friendly and attentive service and exceptional value for money ordering from the January special menu. Any main £10, any dessert £2.50. Good choice, including vegetarian and vegan options - ours proved to be very tasty. Parking: Parking to the rear. Two hours free if you log in at reception
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was amazing and the 2 course deal was fantastic value. We sat in the conservatory area which has a view of the river....Will be going back!
We come every month to this hotel and have breakfast in the restaurant. We just wanted to praise the wonderful Krasi. She is friendly, helpful and incredibly professional. Krasi makes the breakfast experience a total joy as she is always so efficient and cheerful. We would be devastated if she left as she is the driving force behind the breakfast service.
Excellent value and well prepared Sunday lunch. I chose the French theme, Chicken Normandy, rather than the traditional British roast - well it is a French bistro after all, and was very happy with my selection, although the dauphinoise potato could have been creamier and the winter green as a single leaf.
Very disappointing mediocre at best
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Bistrot Pierre. Quisine offered was nice change from the usual bistro offerings. Would recommend
Had May as a server, she was very lovely and the food was great!
Have a lovely meal with our group. We have been served by Rob & May. Great time and recommendation
Met up with family and able to obtain a corner table , great for a chat. Food was lovely and hot. The chef special dessert of plum was melt in the mouth. Will return. Food : 5/5 |
Nice steak and chips
Parking: Was greeted by rob. Informative young man. Had a lovely windows seat, Matt it s so nice to be asked about allergens! recommend the beef, great night Thank you Bistrot Pierre Food : 5/5
Great food and extremely well looked after by the lovely, Matt. Thank you very much. Food
Dropped in on a Tuesday. The place was buzzing. Set menu offer of 3 courses and wine for £23 such a bargain. Portions were decent size and delicious. Such great service.... thanks especially to Matt for looking after us.
New Years Eve 2022 was an experience not to be repeated at Stratford. The food was ok unlike the Derby restaurant which is always excellent. The the service was rushed. No excuse as there were only a handful of customers. Our main arrived before we had finished the starter and the dessert was preheated. It certainly was not worth £65 per person. Breakfast was the same. The cooked breakfast arrived before finishing the cereal and was not brilliant. Having sent an email direct to Stratford they offered to give us a complimentary meal but never replied to my request of transferring this to Derby.
Food never disappoints in Bistro Pierre. For a chain, the food is up there. We were a table of four - one of which was a low carb dietary requirement. We made the waiter aware of this, so were unsure why he recommended the risotto as an alternative. Regardless, the restaurant has options which really satisfied the taste buds. Lovely atmosphere but the front door sometime let a chilled air in. Keep your guests warm and smiles will be all round.
Unfortunately, Im giving this a poor review. Turned up at 1200 for prebooked office Christmas meal. All orders also prebooked. About 30 of us were seated in a room separate to the main restaurant. Food didnt arrive until 1330! No reason given for 90 minute wait and staff behaved as if there was no issue. Food was good when it eventually arrived but had it not been for decent colleagues understanding, this would have been an ordeal. Weve been here before and the service has been prompt so what happened this year remains a mystery. Parking: You need to check in at the venue with your vehicle registration to get 2 hours of free parking.
Bistrot Pierre in Stratford upon Avon, recommended by my parents, unfortunately left our family deeply disappointed after our Saturday lunch. Despite a promising start where early arrivals were well accommodated, the experience quickly soured. A missing drink and disorganised service during ordering were just the beginning. When the remaining guests arrived, their meals appeared promptly, but our original order was nowhere to be found. Staff seemed oblivious to the delay, leaving us in the dark despite repeated inquiries. The distressing part was the neglect towards our youngest member, who waited uncomfortably as others dined. Her belated meal, a poorly microwaved pasta, was disheartening. The overall quality of dishes mirrored this disappointment, with dishes like the vegetable tagine and chicken Normandy failing to meet even basic standards. The lack of coordination among the staff was evident, leaving us unanimously disheartened with both the service and food quality. A restaurant manager to address these glaring service issues is undoubtedly necessary for any hope of improvement. My parents, deeply apologetic for their recommendation, and our entire group have no intention of revisiting this establishment.
Lovely meal, great host. Knowledgeable about the food and took great care with my allergies.
Went to the restaurant for our work Christmas meal yesterday. We were a massive party (40ppl) and the waiters stook it all in their stride and were exceptional hosts. Thankyou Bistro Pierre. Dietary restrictions: GF options available. No GF beer.
the worst restaurant experience, your food plates look disgusting, canteen style cut vegetables with the sauces hardened and stuck to the plate, the vegetables were raw and the meat burnt, the restaurant was relatively empty and I waited 15 minutes for them to bring a coffee at the table, I repeat myself, the most horrible experience in a restaurant in my life
Absolutely hideous staff. Useless and incompetent. Do not go there, itll be horrible and expensive. No star.
Starter barely warm , steak tough
Excellent staff and service. Sunday Menu was Excellent Roast Beef. Kid-friendliness: Kids Menu
Pleasant setting, friendly staff, fantastic food, very well presented with a warm atmosphere. Only minor gripe, as 9 oclock approached, felt a little rushed, but overall excellent.
Onion soup was terrible Beef bourgigion should be renamed to beef casserole as it tasted nothing like bourgigion, it was very nice no complaints on the quality of the main dish just not what I expected. Extremely efficient staff but felt a bit rushed ,on a conveyor belt
Food was ok, but the very poor service ruined the evening. All around us people were complaining about something, be it the food, the wait, wrong orders. Very disappointing
Not impressed with the pre-cooked breakfast. The plate was red hot and everything was dry and looked like it had been in the oven since first thing in the morning. Bacon was like cardboard and dry. And yes we did mention it to the staff member. Lovely hotel though.
No atmosphere Saturday lunch time...!? Onion soup warery luke warm...main course luke warm...dry veg...not a Bistrot as the name suggests...
Food was delicious
Food was really salty and portion sizes were really small, was left feeling hungry after a 3 course meal. The French onion soup was horrible too, was really disappointed and we came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was so let down by this place. Also they automatically add 10% service charge to your bill.
The food was exquisite and delightful. Have visited before and it 100% lived up to my expectations. Had the French onion soup, cheese fondue and calamari for starters. Afterwards, we had steak frites x2 and the chicken dish. Staff were excellent and very attentive and accommodated for Gluten Free food brilliantly! There was a vast variety of gluten free food, which is few and far between, especially gluten free calamari! Dietary restrictions: Great selection for Gluten Free food Parking: Parking is across the road, small charge to pay bit great to walk around the river afterwards.
Booked a table for four two months before as it was a birthday celebration, and people were travelling some distance to attend. First issue was I rang to check the booking a week prior and was told I couldn t have that time, winter time had changed it, no phone call to tell me! On arrival another group were sat the specific table I had booked. The manager Ben, was extremely rude and spoke to me in an unprofessional and very disrespectful manner. Clearly they had forgot to put a reserved sign on there, when they do (pic) reserve tables. When we were seated and decided what to eat, the chosen food was unavailable, thanks for telling us when you seated us. The food was average, service was just ok. They don t write down your order which was very worrying. I will never return and reading some of the recent reviews I m not the only one. I would not recommend this place at all.
Really lovely venue, great food, helpful and friendly staff. Great experience.
Lovely atmosphere, good quality food and drink and reasonable pricing
Visited today. Had the vegan bourguignon and the vegan chocolate tart. Others ordered beef bourguignon and a veggie burger. Food was good and the beer 94 was brill. But for my vegan dish, the vegan mash was way too salty. The service was ok but food took a long time to arrive and the bourguignons weren t the biggest of meals; they weren t super hot either. The vegan chocolate tart and creme brûlée were delicious and large. There was quite a cold draft where we were sat, next to the conservatory Dietary restrictions: only 1/2 vegan options.
We took friends here for lunch. The set menu had a varied selection from which we all ordered. The fixed price included a choice of drinks. Nobody was disappointed with their choice or quality of food and we all agreed wed go back again soon
Food good and service very good.Pity music was a bit loud for chatting and couldnt be turned down
Yesterday, my husband and I had lunch at Bistro Pierre in Stratford. The food was superb, a great atmosphere and the service was spot on. Harvey is a gem!
Cant rate this restaurant low enough. We walked in at 11.20 with our 4 year old after checking on Google if the restaurant is open. With a hungry child we were looking for a place nearby the butterfly farm that did chicken nuggets but wasnt a McDonalds. On entry we noticed there were no customers around but walked in to check with the staff. As we walked in we made eye contact with a lady that was at the tills. She walked up to us with a very miffed look on her face and told us breakfast is not served anymore. I hesitantly told her we wanted to see if they serve lunch and she, very unapologetically, told us theyre closed until 12 when they serve lunch and they proceeded back to the tills without even batting an eye lid. Based on this interaction we proceeded to the McDonalds down the road. I can appreciate the restaurant was closed, however, there are ways of being a lot more hospitable, especially when the front door is open and anyone can walk in. Either you can ask us if were willing to wait and you can give us some drinks whilst were waiting or, if you really cant serve anything between breakfast and lunch then save yourself the trouble and lock the front door or put a sign up to say back open at 12 for lunch or update your Google opening times. Honestly, hospitality is suffering enough right now, after the COVID years, its really unnecessary for it to suffer more due to the very thing that they should be getting it right: customer service.
Lovely as usual and great choices . Compared to rest of Stratford Upon Avon best value for money Food
Excellent value and lovely meal. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Lovely food in a lovely setting. Service was particularly good, especially Harvey, who went above and beyond.
