Romeos Corner Cafe in Stratford

Was in Stratford for an event so happened to find this place at the red light crossing and turned into its parking. Ambience , service and food was top notch. We were there during a between lunch and supper time. Ordered the Portobello mushroom burger which was delicious and fresh and juicy. The curly fries were perfect. Also had a slice of the pumpkin pie and you could tell this didnt come out of a box. The only challenge I felt was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. Even the breakfast items had bacon etc. I didnt ask about substitution, maybe they do that. The owner lady came and talked to us and we exchanged a few notes about the city where we live. All in all, a great experience.

Food was very good. Server was friendly. Nice place to meet friends for lunch.

My wife and I come to Stratford to see plays once or twice a year. Since discovering Romeos, it has become our go to place for every meal. The breakfast is outstanding and the portions very filling. Great staff and atmosphere. Keep up the excellent work and we will see you again soon.

I come here every Sunday and without fail our service and food is outstanding every time. I highly recommend Romeos to all my family and friends.

The wait for service and then for food was ridiculous. We were sitting for 20 mins before someone took our order and over an hour before we actually got our breakfast. They have no waiting/seating for people at the door (they re were a lot of very elderly people waiting for very long periods of time). Over all it doesn t seem like this restaurant can manage the amount of seating they have efficiently.

I would give ten starts for the food, if I could. I can;t even remember when I ate such fresh, delicious and amazingly cooked food. The pasta was absolutely fantastic, the sauce was perfect, the Thanksgiving dinner was perfect as well. The service is excellent. This place is a real gem!

I had lunch there today and was amazed at the service and food. The kitchen staff went out of their way to ensure my allergy was not affected! Most places say just to eat a dessert so it was so nice to enjoy a meal out, safely. The burger with brie cheese, Granny Smith apple and red pepper jelly was decadent. And our server CARA was fabulous. She made our experience there very delightful. Thank you to all your staff in the kitchen for keeping me safe. We will be back!

Stumbled upon this restaurant because its the nearest to Festival theater and it was such a pleasant surprise. Itd very busy and popular and the food explains why. The maple fried chicken burger is the best one Ive ever had!! Service was also super friendly and accommodating.

The most delicious Mac and cheese Ive had in a long time!! Very friendly staff and hometown atmosphere. Very low key and enjoyable. We were visiting Stratford on a theater trip and we ate here three days in a row!

Service, service where art thou, service? Went there just at the beginning of lunch. Restaurant was only a quarter full with 2 servers. Service was very slow. We were seated quickly. Waited 20 minutes to be offered drinks and place our order. Waited nearly another 40 minutes for food to arrive. Each time the waitress came to our table, she d start to walk away as we were asking questions as though she had something more urgent to get to. To do what, I m not sure. Food was average. Chicken wrap had barely any chicken and was very salty. Burger was clearly previously frozen. Very few options for people with food intolerances or allergies. Dietary restrictions: Not many accommodations for people with food intolerances.

3 half buns. One buttered, one dressing on it. The third one deep fried with mushrooms encrusted on it. Interesting prep, barely taste mushrooms. Would not order again. Partner had chicken wrap and throughly enjoyed it.

Cozy and pleasant atmosphere but expect a lot of background din when its busy. Fast and very friendly service. Will make a point of stopping by next time that Im back for the Stratford Festival! I was really surprised by the price for very mediocre food. A regular house salad with a spinach mix, a few diced cucumbers and tomatoes plus a salmon fillet was $24.00. Those are Toronto prices in a small city such as Stratford. I would not come back again because of the price of meals versus the quality of food. It s very mediocre cafe food for extremely inflated prices. A wrap should not be $18.00

Any time my wife and I go to Stratford to take in a show, we make sure to stop in at Romeos for lunch or dinner. We have never been disappointed with their service or food. Top notch across the board. Romeos will remain a destination stop for our family as long as it is open! Love you guys n gals!!

This is my favourite place for breakfast. I usually make reservations because it does get busy. The restaurant is clean and staff is lovely! Breakfast is delicious. One of my other favourite dishes is their turkey burger, done to perfection. So glad you are in Stratford! I just had the salmon Wellington, it was the best meal I ve ever had!

Visited here on a busy Saturday morning on the May long weekend. It took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. The breakfast was delicious! The atmosphere is cozy and the servers are all very friendly. Will definitely return the next time that we are in the area.

Excellent location very good services, amazing food. I went first time here, for a coffee and an lemon cheesecake. Delicious, the plating was beyond expectations. Its not only a piece of cake dropped on a plate, it comes with a story. Coffee was excellent, too; double expresso, strong and creamy, with an amazing smell of fresh roasted coffee beans. Sorry, I dont have pictures to share, but for sure I will be back for coffee and lunch too( food smells amazing and looks really good ).

Super friendly staff serving up the breakfast standards. If you are low carb or keto, Romeos has you covered. Its not fancy and its not chain. This is a classic diner with real character of its own. Parking is easy if you are driving, but if you are in town its an easy walk from just about everywhere. Updated-Ive been there a few times now and while the food tastes ok there is room for improvement. This is the first time Ive used the bathroom there and the dirt on the floors and inch of dust on the stalls and the 2 of dust on the vent directly above the stall was a real turn off. The breakfast I ordered which was posted as their special that day I couldnt get because she said they couldnt find the one serving of smoked trout disappeared and for as long as they were looking for it (at least 15 min) it was gone. Im not sure why it was the daily special if they didnt have any. They proceeded to offer me the truffle Benedict instead which was good but not what I would have ordered to begin with.

What a gem of a place!!! While visiting Stratford for business, we went to Romeos Corner Cafe for lunch. The menu was unique and we had a featured burger with side salad. Food was very tasty, came out fast and the service was great! I also had a cappuccino and a mimosa, both of which were great. I highly recommend stopping by, seems to be a very popular place!!

Fairly disappointed with our visit here. I brought my mom for dinner because we checked the websites menu section, which listed liver and onions. When we arrived and didnt see it on the menu, I asked and was told thats from a decade ago, our menu is on our Facebook page as if we should have known that which was weird, but we were hungry so we tried a burger. The burger itself was really good but the tomato jam was so beyond overpowering with clove/cinnamon or something that it ruined the freshness of the Cali burger. We were able to scrape some of it off to finish our meal, but it tasted like we were eating a candle and didnt work with the goat cheese and avocado toppings.

We really enjoyed their specials and the staff was super nice.

Sad we missed breakfast - but what an incredible lunch - salmon salad and Romeo burger!! Delish we were impressed. Excellent service.

Mothers day and the staff appeared to be overwhelmed. Have been to this eatery often and enjoyed it each time. Today ordered skillet with 3 eggs and the eggs were like rubber when I requested easy easy easy over. We were three for breakfast our meals showed up several minutes before our cutlery.

Terrific find on our way into Stratford. On the site that was previously Williams Cafe & Balzacs Nice variety in the menu, I enjoyed a delicious bison burger, my wife an avocado chicken wrap. No issue with some cheese substitution she made. A tasty salad as a side & generous sized serving delicious of tea. So many smiles amongst the staff - great start to this visit!

Brought my Nana here for a late lunch. The service was wonderful, I think our server may have been the owner and she was lovely. The menu is smallish, but exquisitely curated to give a wide range of options that they make perfectly every time. I would definitely eat here again.

I chose this place based on reviews I had read and perhaps that was my mistake. It definitely overhyped it. Reality, it was...nothing out of the ordinary. There was no wait which was great and were able to sit down pretty quickly. Our server was quiet and polite but we overheard other tables who had another server and they got to hear about some specials etc which would have been nice. The table beside us had issues with their eggs being undercooked and that was a bit off putting since I had also ordered the bennies. But, it was ok when it arrived. The hash was not the texture I expected a bit mushy with no flavour. My boyfriend got the fluffy pancakes which were ok but again nothing of a wow factor. For the price of the dishes I really expected a higher end type of breakfast experience. Drink menu looked promising. Perhaps an off morning, but it unfortunately didnt really meet the standard it appeared to offer based on other reviews.

Romeos is our favorite place for lunch when visiting Stratford. The staff are friendly. The food is great. We especially like the wraps and the pesto pasta but everything we have ever tried has been top notch.

It took awfully long time to take our order and serve it, the food was okay, however the fries were burnt (literally brown and bitter) and the waiter mixed up our orders. Also the place was very busy and nearby table was very loud.

I too was brought in by the positive reviews. I ordered the Eggs Benny special, which added asparagus under the egg. The eggs were cold and undercooked as was the English muffin, the asparagus was not fresh and very chewy. My partner ordered the breakfast special, 2 eggs, breakfast sausage, shredded potatoes and rye toast. The eggs were cooked nicely, the sausage was cold, and the toast was barely warm and not toasted. As for the service, it started out friendly and welcoming, once the order was placed that was it. Had to reach out to another server for additional coffee. The next time we encountered our server was to ask if we would pay by cash, didnt like the machine. I did not experience good value for the total cost of the meals at over $50.

Popped into Romeo s while in Stratford for a play. I have been in Stratford many times for work and pleasure but this was my first visit to this establishment. We were on a tight timeline - traffic was heavy getting in, I may have taken a wrong turn as well, and we were starving. Nothing wrong with Timmies, but we wanted something with a bit more culture, and Romeo s was on the nose following a quick Google search. Parking was ample, fortune smiled given how busy the town can be when a show is on, and when we went in there was still available seating. We notified the hostess of our timing dilemma, and her immediate response was not to give us a firm no or false assurances, but Let me check with the kitchen and see if we can accommodate you. Brilliant! And, thankfully, they could. We kept it simple - two sandwiches, one fries and one salad with a couple of pops. We even ordered the same sandwich - the Grilled Cheese Deluxe, a sourdough bread delight packed with cheddar, mozzarella, Brie, bacon, caramelized onion and a fried egg. (Eyes, meet stomach!) The sandwiches were amazing, even if it was more than I am capable of eating for lunch, and the fries were deep brown and crispy and well seasoned. Perhaps my wife was smarter with the salad - fatty cheese and bacon with fried egg and onion on a grilled bread was maybe a bit too much heart-clogging goodness to put alongside fries - but the flavours were cleverly combined and created an outstanding bite. The feather in the cap for the team was the service. The hostess had alerted our server of our time needs, and I saw her communicate this to the kitchen when she brought in our order. The kitchen team nodded and gestured to us, clearly aware of their part in the process of getting us fed and out to our show. Great communication between all three levels in the restaurant! Finally, our server brought us our bill and machine in our final bites rather than waiting for us to ask, noting that she didn t want to pressure us but that this way we could pay and leave without delay when we were ready. Sensitivity to a customer s needs is just as important as the quality of the food, and while I might have knocked a half-star off because I needed to do 15k steps to burn off the delicious calories, the team gained at least that much back in their exceptional customer service.

my boyfriend and i recently visited stratford for a two-day trip, and we ended up dining at Romeos three times! twice for breakfast (their bennys and omelettes are incredible) and the other was deelicious dinner and drinks before we went to the festival theatre. the staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is timeless. safe to say well be back again and again. thank you!

A mostly breakfast place, open for dinner on the weekends. Friday night fish and chips and delicious specials.

The food was good. Service was atrocious. I realize it was busy, but staff could have done better. Were stacking dirty dishes on a couple of tables and never cleared the mess in the hour we were there. Asked for coffee refill twice. Finally got it and Bill. Waited over 15 minutes for server to bring machine. While waiting had an elderly lady in line ask me if I knew there was a line up, as if I was wasting time at my table with just my coffee. Did not appreciate being made to feel bad due to staff lack of attention. Eventually I just left cash on table. Definitely will not return. Food was not that spectacular to warrant the lack of service.

My friends and I Went to Romeos for lunch, there were 4 of us in total. We could tell it was quite busy from the lineup and how many people were in the restaurant when we entered. I ordered a cowboy burger with fries and enjoyed some cold beer on tap. My server Nancy was attentive and promptly took care of our table and our needs. We got our drinks quickly after we sat down and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly, welcoming nature of the staff and restaurant. Having amazing service undoubtedly elevated our dining experience. I am speaking on behalf of my friends and I, all of us had a lovely time. It appeared that Nancy was the only server on the floor and she was working VERY hard to attend to every table. She did mention they were short staffed today but it did not affect our dining experience whatsoever. We were in and out in good time and made it to our play precisely when we wanted to. Overall amazing food, service and atmosphere. We will certainly be back to try more items on the menu when were back in the area!

The Romeo Signature omelette was the best Ive ever had!

Terrible service. Sat there for so long and had to ask someone to take our order. They then served someone who came after us. A family was also waiting from before us and they got super upset and left. Food was mediocre and overpriced The only efficient people were the busboy and girl. Not coming again.

I LOVE this place! The server was amazing! She was busy but was quick, efficient and cool as a cucumber! Food was amazing, even the cup of tea was good. Will return for sure. Never had to wait for the check. Place is cute, clean and they all worked well together, efficient and organized!! Romeos is a favourite restaurant in Stratford. Across the street from the Arden Park hotel at Romeo and Ontario sts. Good food and service. Nancy and her staff do a great job. Kudos! Vegetarian options: They exist as well as a Vegan dish.

Always an amazing place to stop in for breakfast! Its a bustling restaurant that makes fantastic meals, we have only had breakfast here though. My wife always has the Eggs Benedict and says they are outstanding! I usually have the French Toast or a skillet and you can never go wrong with any choice from their menu! Stratford is one of our favorite places to visit and we always make sure to stop by for breakfast before leaving town!!

Went there for the first time. Lovely diner type restaurant. Between the 3 of us we had the Reuben sandwich, cheesy grilled cheese and the turkey burger. All had yo fresh cut homemade fries. Deliciousness was had by all and we left satisfied. We will be back again for sure. Thank you for the great food!

Best breakfast in town for a true foodie. Its not a diner. Its a breakfast cafe, the shredded potatoes are fantastic and the family that operates the business are all gems.

Womans bathroom was freezing cold. Whatever you do, dont sit on the seat. Parking: Its a very tight parking lot. Youre lucky on a busy day to find a spot. Food : 5/5 |

Server, service and food fantastic, we were late arriving for breakfast but they accommodated us, eggs Benedict great, as before service excellent many restaurants should take note, will definitely be back on our next trip.

Came on a Sunday for brunch. It was VERY busy. We didn t have reservations but we re seated after about 10-15min. Lots of dishes and drinks on the menu to choose from. Service is pretty slow on account of how busy they were. Our normal server was tied up so a different server helped us. If we were not on a schedule, it would have been a good atmosphere to relax and take our time. We ordered 1. Mediterranean Omelet $14.50. The omelet is a good size and delicious. Sour dough bread was ok, shredded potatoes are good. I like the crispy parts. The non crispy parts are soft like mashed potatoes. Took a while to find the tobasco sauce. I think they need more bottles. 2. Romeo s Original $9.75. Very average. The sausage was dry and hard and the bread could use more butter. Eggs were good. Plating is good. Jam package is a good size.

Breakfast, as a meal, has largely been neglected as something that can be done with care, creativity, and diversity. Most places just end up deep frying their eggs, overcooking their hash, or leaving stale coffee. But not at Romeos. This is a family run business, and you can tell. You feel like guest when you re there and you can tell that they care about making sure you enjoyed your food. Overall, the food was excellent: creative, fresh, and very well made. The service was also great! Nancy was warm, and made us feel so welcome. If you re in town, this is a must go place. You ll love the breakfast here so much that you might want to return to the tow just to eat here again.
