Locals rave about the burger here. I decided to visit and the restaurant is charming, but the burger was very disappointing. The bun and bacon are dry and hard to chew. The burger and the burger patty are very small for 25 dollars. Wouldn t go again for the food

The welcome was genuine, the atmosphere fun and the food very tasty, reflecting some Asian influences. They have an excellent selection of craft beers, with some quite interesting flavours present. Perfect location on Ontario St, walking distance from the theatres.

I went in exclusively for a Spanish coffee. It was a very poor result at their first attempt. The male server insisted on making me a 2nd one according to how I know a Spanish coffee to be, and it was much better!

Atmosphere and quality of food is great but value for price leaves a lot of room for improvement. I was there recently for brunch with a friend. I ordered the balkin yogurt and added two sides to my meal (bacon and a biscuit). Each side was $4.50 and the portion sizes were extremely small (3 half strips of bacon for $4.50). Not sure if this is a result of shrinkflation but I was pretty disappointed with this $30 brunch.

The steak was pre sliced and overwhelmed by salad. Not what any steak lover is looking for. Also the ramen comes looking and tasting nothing like authentic ramen. Had me wondering, do they have a japanese chef? Feels inspired by japanese cultural dishes, cultural appropriation.

Ok. So heres the thing. The service at this place is phenomenal. Our server was genuinely one of the kindest and most caring servers I have experienced in my entire life, so they alone warrant two stars. But what happened to the other three stars that this place might have gotten? Well, between 1) the disappointing food, 2) the slow kitchen, and 3) the high price point, I can think of few restaurants which have felt like a greater waste of time, money, and stomach space than this one. Lets unpack each of these points. Starting with the food, our table ordered the Sweetbreads, the Maki, the Pickerel Sandwich, the Duck Confit Dumplings, the Bento Box, the Spicy Thai Noodles, and the Chicken Bowl. The sweetbreads, maki, and chicken bowl were all passable (although not anywhere near worth what they cost), but the pickerel sandwich, spicy Thai noodles, and bento box were all severely lacking in flavour. I have genuinely had more flavourful versions of each of these dishes in high school cafeterias for 1/10th of the price. And the duck confit dumplings; dont get me started. What an absolute travesty: dry, tasteless, burnt, and all-around lame. As to the slow kitchen, while I understand that many kitchens are understaffed and they can only move so quickly, when the quality of the food is as poor as it was, it makes one feel irritated about how long it took to make. This irritation was also compounded by the fact that it took what seemed like 30+ minutes for our appetizers to come out, but then like 5+ minutes after that for our mains to come out. Generally speaking, when a menu sets out a separate appetizer section, when ordered, they are supposed to come out more quickly than the mains so as to tide over the patrons, but this was not accomplished. Again, these are pretty nit-picky things to say, but the food being generally bad soured the whole experience. Then moving on to the price of everything, with the tip, the meal for our party of 4 cost around $187. That is about $50 a person. For that price, the food should really be top notch, or at least cooked with enough heart to provide a satisfying experience, but, as is clear by this point, this did not happen. And again, this really would not be an issue if the food was worth the price in the first place. This all being said, I hope management looks over my Karen-esque rant, and uses it as an opportunity to think critically about the things I am saying. I hope they take what I have said to heart, and seriously look into how they can improve how they run their kitchen. I hope they hire more chefs to make sure that food comes out more quickly, and pay more attention to the recipes they are using for their dishes, because with some improvements to their recipes, and greater attention paid to their preparation, this place could be as great as my party was expecting it to be. Above all, however, I hope they pay their servers twice as much as they do currently; they deserve the raise.

Went just for lunch a few times and the food there is incredible!

We came here before seeing a play today. The service was great and the food was excellent. Highly suggest to others looking for something out of the ordinary. I had the fried rice balls and the peanut salad which were both great too.

Stopped in for a mid afternoon snack and drink. Bar was a great spot to sit and we enjoyed a curry coconut soup and a maki. Returned the next morning for a nice breakfast. Great spot for food and drink. Service : 4/5

Cant speak to the rooms as I have never stayed. I am a local, and Mercer is our goto. Food is amazing, and the beer selection is larger than most in town. Service is excellent, and the servers are friendly and efficient.

This fried chicken burger is in my top three all-time best list. The breading is incredible. The staff were very friendly with quick and efficient service and the restaurant is a treat for the eyes.

She is a delight and a credit to your establishment. I believe her name is Ellie Longstocking. Nearby activities: We did not stay at the hotel. We were just there to eat. Walkability: Close to all the theatres in the wonderful shopping that Stratford offers.

Had a great time on my first visit, however on this second visit my plate came with a large bug on the burger. Did not receive any apology or compensation for the extremely unpleasant situation. Would have expected a manager to come make an apology and at least some sort of compensation for having to wait longer for another plate, as I was not even very interested in eating after that. Also, the drink I ordered was billed at a higher amount than listed on the menu.

Came here for lunch before a Stratford Festival show. We ordered the pickerel sandwich, lamb burger and Mercer raw salad. Food was delicious with really gigantic portions. Friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. The only thing I would recommend is making it clearer on the website what days the brunch menu is served. I came here expecting to brunch, but was disappointed to learn that was only served on Sundays.

Stopped in for dinner before a show. Pleasantly surprised by the lovely ambiance. We d made a reservation and we were shown to a high table. Asked to be seated at a low table and luckily they were able to accommodate. The menu had many interesting choices! Hubby had the delicious fried chicken and I had the bento box which was really good. We ll be back when we travel to Stratford for a show again.

Had lunch here recently before a play. Restaurant was busy, recommend reservations. Thought it was a bit pricey, no fries with small shrimp salad sandwich (at $18) or homefries with the breakfast burrito (at $15). But both were delicious. Service was good.

I had such a great meal here. I had chefs special of the day chowder with pickerel, shrimp and mussels, hint of lemongrass in the broth. Delicious and very filling. And a flight of beers. Great selection of diverse beers from microbreweries. Welcoming, respectful staff. Highly recommended.

My party made a 6:30 reservation before a play. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn t able to sit us until 6:50 and we had to rush through our dinner to make it on time. The management and staff were however apologetic and gave us a 25% discount on our meal. The waiter had great humour and the food was fantastic. Would go again but perhaps allow an additional 40 minutes to avoid rushing in case we are seated late again.

Our daughter booked this restaurant for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It has now become our favorite place and we will be back. The food was amazing as was our waitress. Truly a restaurant that you want to recommend to friends and family.

Steer very, very clear of this place. There are better restaurants in Stratford by far. I went here with a friend two weeks ago after seeing a show and ordered the jerk chicken rice bowl with shrimp. Im fairly certain the chef has never tasted actual jerk anything because this dish was simply sweet barbecued pulled pork. There was absolutely nothing Caribbean about it. The dish was bland, shrimp overcooked and underseasoned and oh, it was 29 dollars. Avoid this tourist trap rip off joint. Spend your money elsewhere.

Didnt stay at hotel. Customer service was amazing. there was an error in the online reservation, we had 8 but apparently we missed that the online booking was only 2. They accommodated us anyway. There was a delay in our groups food but they made it up to us. Amazing selection of gluten free and Vegan/vegetarian food. 5/5 would go back thanks for a great time.

Had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. Was okay, nothing special. Menu is small, not many great option. Prices seemed a little high for what you get (and dishes I saw coming out) great beer selection so that deserves 4 star review.

Server provided minimal service. Never offered water, nor ask if we wanted another drink or any other items. Took our initial orders for drink & food order, came once to see if meals okay, then bill. Food was delicious but a bit $$ for what is served. Beautiful interior. A bit disappointed as it came highly recommended but I just didnt get a great first impression.

We dined in the restaurant. The food is great and the service is excellent. We thought that the nachos seemed expensive ($32 with pulled pork) but when we saw the generous portion, split between two people, you get more than your moneys worth. We visited last year, too, as part of Stratfords Bacon and Ale Trail, and the elevated plate of bacon was superb. Great peanut salad, too. Highly recommended.

The place has a nice ambiance but the food was just mediocre and we ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, and didn t enjoy at all, we mentioned to server as well it s too oily and he didn t do anything about it either, minimal service for sure. When someone mentions a problem I guess we solve it out instead of saying ohh okay !

This was our second visit, and it was just as good as the first! Great facility, friendly and professional staff, and delicious food. As someone who can t eat dairy any more (tragic, I know,) it s so helpful to have all the dairy-free options marked!

We came here for dinner only, not to stay at the hotel. Food and drinks: The food here is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! We stayed in town for 2 nights, visiting Stratford for the first time. We wanted a nice dinner our first night so I googled restaurants nearby and Mercer Kitchen came up. So I read the reviews, looked at the menu, and all sounded and looked good so we decided to give it a shot. Well, we enjoyed so much, we did it again the next evening!!! We had a couple of cocktails to start with, which were pretty good. We had the fried chicken app, the shrimp and scallop dumplings in lobster bisque, the Korean BBQ crispy chicken rice bowl and the pickerel sandwich. All so very good! Next night, we had the nachos with crispy chicken and the Maki rolls. Also very good! I dont know what they do with that fried chicken, but dam! Its really, really tasty! The atmosphere was pleasant with a great vibe, servers were super friendly and attentive, and service was quick, even though they were busy. I recommend reservations. They have a nice patio too. When you are done indulging at Mercer, you can walk it off and head to the near park and then stroll through the Shakespeare garden. Very pretty.. Enjoy! We will be back... We enjoyed an overnight stay at Mercer Hall celebrating our anniversary and enjoying lovely Stratford. Although I ve enjoyed several meals there, this was the first overnight stay and it did not disappoint. Everyone we dealt with from the moment we arrived were wonderful, friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and a very good size. There was even a painted bike for decoration outside one of our windows! We had a great breakfast (1st time) and mimosa to start our day. I am happy to recommend Mercer Hall for a stay or at least enjoy a meal!

I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. Large portions! I m usually a good eater but couldn t finish it. Considering the high price I m surprised it wasn t white meat, but the burger was still good and the homemade bun was fantastic. I wish the server came around more regularly to fill up my water but other than that it was great service.

Didnt stay at the hotel, but enjoyed the restaurant. Really loved the unique food and the variety of drinks available - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Chantal was a great server! She was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful and just a delight to deal with. We come every year when visiting Stratford and have never been disappointed. They are responsive if you are going to a show in terms of food delivery. But really, the meal was ready so fast even when we were not going to a show that evening. One of the few restaurants open on Monday evenings, but we would have gone there even if there were other choices that evening. Consistently high level of service and enjoyable food and drink. Went there in Oct 2023 and ordered two things. Chicken wings did not have enough sauce and we asked the waitress for extra sauce. She was busy serving 15 other tables and never came back to check in with us and I was frustrated to the point that I had to walk up to the front to ask them to just let me pay and go. Good thing they didnt charge us for the two chicken wings we ate. If you are in a rush, dont go there. Or bring your own ketchup Edit: checked my photos and the dishes arrived at 7:56pm. No idea why owner wrote that the show was why they were busy. It was a Friday night. Good thing we left for another place for food after but did not appreciate the wasted time.

My sister and I visited Mercers initially to spend two $5 coupons that she had left over from a previous visit to Stratford 18 months earlier for the Bacon and Chocolate tour. The sampler that we got was delicious with bacon and their in house made garlic aioli and teriyaki sauce. So good that we then had an appetizer bowl of crispy chicken bites with sauces - a very good size for an appetizer!! After our walk round Stratford we returned to Mercers at the end if the evening for an excellent coffee and their Ginger creme brulee!!!! My gosh, soooo good!!!! A few weeks ago we went to Mercer Kitchen and Beer Hall and we didn t get table I had reserved due to me booking a different table than I thought I did. Despite me making the mistake, the staff immediately seated us at a much better table than I had booked in the first place. I would strongly recommend Mercer Kitchen and Beer Hall to anyone looking for great service, food and a large variety of different beers. Cheers!

Burgers and fries. Its always what I order first to gauge restaurants, and this burger and fries did not disappoint. They were superb. Ill be back to this restaurant!

This place was a bit pricy but worth the money, at this place every bite was enjoyed. The atmosphere was romantic yet relaxing and not too formal to the point of being uncomfortable if you came in with a casual attire. Food was above expectations, being a sort of picky eater I found anything we got here to make me smile, Steak was tender and the aromas were to die for. Our waitress Alesia( I believe her name was) couldn t be more helpful in aiding me with picking top choices and good conversation, quality service. The deserts were amazing too.. the carrot cake was unbelievably delicious, creamy icing and good quality cake, the Japanese cake wasn t my thing but it was perfection on its own, if you ask them for their popular dishes, you ll be surely impressed, definitely worth the wait.. (Parking) should note that you do have to park in the meter section mostly to get a parking spot. Not so delighted about that. (Reservations) reservations are not required to get in, but are appropriate for staff to get you a seat, but Mercers was kind enough to help us out that night (Space)The restaurant is kinda of clustered, if you don t like people being beside you so close you might not like this place Food and drinks: Food was very well thought of, tender and not at all tough to eat.

I make everyone I go to Stratford with come to this restaurant and no one has ever left disappointed. Theres essentially three different rooms in the restaurant and each have their own distinct vibe. The staff are always pleasant, the beer selection is plentiful, the portion sizes are generous, and the the food is phenomenal. Get the Korean fried chicken rice bowl- youll be happy you did. It was okay. Nice selection of craft beers. The steaks tempature I ordered was over and the steak had a sorta burnt flavouring to it, not the actually steak, but the marinade burnt. Would go again, but definitely order something different.

My husband and I spent the night here a couple of weeks ago. The room was beautifully filled with a classy and local touch. Dinner was delicious, we had a Ceasar Salad, Karage, Burger and the Korrean Chicken Rice Bowl. We live in Stratford, it was a nice little getaway. We will be staying here again. Great atmosphere, awesome service and lots of amazing food...plenty of options for drinks too! I have been to Mercer plenty of times but on our most recent visit I dont know if there was something up with the kitchen exhaust. There was a haze combined with all the cooking smells of the kitchen throughout the restaurant.

Venison Bao was excellent and the Truffle, Lobster & Shrimp dumplings were out of this world. Great whisky selection. Superb service even when packed to the girders.

My sister and I went on a Saturday night without reservation and it seemed quite busy so we were told we could only dine in for 90 minutes because there will be a party coming after us. I got the duck curry with the chef s special dish which was the grilled brussel sprout. The duck curry was pretty good but it was too salty for my taste. The brussel sprouts came out looking burnt but tasted quite good. My sister s dish was the steak and curry soup. The soup tasted like my duck curry, and the steak was very average for the price. Our server was very friendly, but the food did take A WHILE to get to us. All in all, it wasn t horrible but I kind of expected more based on the prices on the menu.

We both had the pickerel sandwich it was overcooked. I had a herbal tea and was shocked at the price of 4.50!

I dropped in to Mercer on a recent Tuesday night. I enjoyed a good salad (the peanut one) and two solid Ontario Craft Beers on tap. Im not from Stratford so its not a place I frequent although back in 2016-17 I visited 3-5 times and they had a very solid bottle/can list. Unfortunately that isnt the case anymore. Improving this again would certainly help draw in people looking for unique brews (ones not easily available in Ontario).

Travelled from London to Stratford for the today and made lunch reservations at Mercer s. We ve been here a few times and the food has always been great - not so much today. We ordered to chicken karage, a burger and the steak. Chicken karage - meat was very dry. Burger - meat was dry. Steak - meat was lovely, fries were soggy. $100 including tip for a disappointing experience. Service was great. We will try this once more due to past experience.

Love the food but can t believe they got rid of the coconut green curry. Was the best dish on the menu! Disappointing.

Came here for dinner with some friends and everything was very good. My favourite was the fried chicken. Though, for the price, I was surprised that the Bao was one little sandwich. Delicious, but small. Definitely would return.

Amazing place. Our server was as close as one comes to perfect. She was aware, friendly, gave good local advice, and was very good at explaining their other services without being at all pushy. Definitely will return.

We love Mercer. The options on the menu provide such range of options from around the globe. I ve had Asian, Italian, North American, and have never been let down! The chef s must really know their stuff! Always great food. Always a good atmosphere, and the prices are pretty reasonable considering it all! Food and drinks: Food is phenomenal!! Every time! The range of beers is also very good and they are very accommodating when it comes to sampling a couple before you decide!

The food is excellent here, and the ambiance is pretty great too. The beer selection is nice as well, BUT the staff is subpar unfriendly and hasty with service. The service and servers made me feel uncomfortable while trying to enjoy a nice meal and good beer.

Mercer has always been a great place to eat or have a drink. Food is fantastic, beer choice is great and the service is wonderful. Atmosphere is very cozy :) Its always one of my top recommendations.

We were visiting Stratford and made reservations for Mercer the day before. When we arrived for the reservation, they placed us in the corner by the door while there were open tables in the nicer part of the restaurant. We raised this issue and asked to be seated elsewhere, and still put us beside the bar. We believe it is because we are two racialized people, and perhaps they did not want to seat us with the rest in the dining area. The staff also were nonchalant. We had stellar experiences at BlueBird, Pazzo, Lady Glaze, Bake My Day & The Bean, The Relic Room, and Lovage re: treatment, service, and friendliness. It was not experienced here. We left shortly after, did not stay. Highly recommend all the other places mentioned as better options, and with Michelen style food, friendly, welcoming, and attentive staff. And they will not put you on the outskirts of the place despite doing your due diligence to reserve in advance.

Made reservations for dinner and was given the late night menu with no actual beer menu. The menu that we were given looked dated with overpriced subpar options. Service was awful. My dinning experience was ruined when the hostess made me move seats mid appetizer and took my dinner menu away for absolutely no reason no person occupied the seat I was moved from. The bartender was extremely busy but seemed to be able to serve people a second drink that arrived well after me. I was looking forward to trying beers at the beer hall but that was not an option

Came here for dinner before the show, had a reservation. It was very busy, waited 50 minutes between getting served and the food arriving. I got the burger it was so good, the fries not so much. They were a little over cooked and crunchy. The aioli was delicious. My husband loved his meal, said the spare ribs were fall off the bone tender. First time coming for dinner.

An astounding array of guest craft brews that can rotate up to 4 times per day - yes, per day! Today, I lucked into a sour IPA that was so well balanced - no overwhelming citrus or bitterness typical of many IPAs. Theres a good chance youll encounter a unique brew - for example, maybe a Japanese rice lager, an India Brown Ale, or a Kölsch Bock.

Surprisingly, we were the only ones here for weekday breakfast at 8 am. The food arrived quickly and to my surprise, tasted great! While the menu was limited, the breakfast experience was excellent. Highly recommended!

Food took over an hour to arrive two other tables that arrived after us were served first. The Toyoko Cioppino must have had the fish swim through it and was cold, and the udon noodles looked and tasted like linguine. The dish was filled to the brim with onions and tomatoes to fill up the lack of fish. They also brought the wrong dish out to one of my family members.

This downtown restaurant is a gem with incredible food. We tried their nachos and wings, and they were absolutely splendid. The nachos had the perfect blend of flavors and toppings, while the wings were cooked to perfection with a variety of delicious sauces. What impressed us even more was the polite and attentive staff. From the moment we entered, they made us feel welcome and valued. We cant wait to visit again soon. Highly recommended!

Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Food was fresh, and quite tasty. Rice ball app was good, as was the chicken rice bowl entree. But the steak. Omg the steak. Cooked perfectly to order, and completely ruined by salt. I m not being overly dramatic when I say that it was literally the saltiest plate of food I ve ever tasted. I couldn t finish it which was a shame. I can only assume it was a mistake because everything else was fantastic so I ll give a high rating.

food was really good and the beer menu has lots of local products. the prices are midrange for Stratford but the quality is better than similar places. the aioli that comes with the fries was awesome. a relative from overseas asked where to eat while visiting and we took him here - no complaints.

Had reservations made for 19:30, but we showed up earlier which they accommodated without any issue. While browsing the menu, I realized I havent been to a place before where I wanted to try everything on the menu, until visiting here! The food tasted amazing, and the portion size was great. We ate here last week and while there are some positives, there is definitely room for improvement. Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. We ordered a few things and shared them. The vegetable dumplings are very good as is the rice ball app. The jerk pulled pork bao was a 1/5 in our opinion. It has such potential, but the pork was dry, which was helped by the sauce, however, the real issue was the bun. The top half of the bun was awesome, but the bottom was so soggy it wasnt edible. It was very off putting. They need to be mindful of this. It was probably sitting too long before we received it and became soggy from the heat and sauces. What a disappointment. Also, we ordered the Korean beef short ribs and couldnt eat them, also a 1/5. The cut of meat was so bad. It had so much gristle and toughness. We had to keep spitting bites of it out and left most of it. It was also very off putting. Last year we had a short rib dish here and it was to-die-for, so this was very disappointing. This place has potential, but they need to focus on quality. Nothing more disappointing than spending hard-earned money on food that is below average.

Mercer Kitchen has a nice beer menu with something for everyone. The highlight of our meal was the tossed chicken karaage and the sweet potato fries!

The buttermilk fried chicken is soooooooo good! Absolutely perfect I dont usually like fried chicken but this was incredible. The salad is very very nice. So is the biscuit. I wouldnt order the dumplings on its own. I would come back for pre show dinner!

My wife and I were visiting for a show. We came for lunch at Mercers. My wife had the special and loved it. I had bento box. I have been to Japan a few times and love Japanese food. This has to be one of the best meals I ve had. The miso soup was also excellent. We will be back and will tell others about this great place to eat

Stopped in Stratford for lunch, sadly the food (4 different lunches purchased) were all just ok. Green curry was excessively salty and inedible, jerk pulled pork bowl lacked any jerk flavour, same with the jerk bao bun. Presentation was nice but food was not good.

Food was very tasty and well prepared. We went for lunch and the servings were generous. Their dishes are a bit on the spicy but not distractingly so. A very interesting menu much better than most of the standard fare restaurants in town. It could be unpleasant in busy times as the tables are small and tight in one long row.

We only had a drink and an app, and they were both delicious. The sushi appetizer was very tasty, but could ve benefited from more tuna. The prices are high but the quality justifies the price.

We had a pretty awful breakfast experience at Mercer Kitchen. The food, which included sunny side up eggs were super salty, the sausages were greasy and chewy, Focaccia bread tasted stale - each and every simpler item was a disaster! Besides the food, the place was dirty and had flies all around, unpleasant experiences early morning was not something I was expecting to pay $60 for! Save your bucks, avoid the restaurant!

This review is meant for the restaurant only. We went during a rainy day after seeing great reviews about it. We tried an appetiser the crispy sushi rolls, and the buttermilk fried chicken people have been mentioning in the reviews. Taste wise they are both pretty decent, but downside is that most food are on heavier seasonings. (The table next to us actually returned the bowl of fries because it was too salty). And they have this togarashi aioli that they used is most the dishes. Don t get me wrong, the aioli is good, just hoping for something different would be nice. Price wise, personally I think it s a little higher, 2 pieces of chicken was $27, and we were given a thigh and a relatively small drumstick. The sushi rolls was $16 for 6 pieces of sushi. Also two incidents during our meal that made the experience less pleasant: When we first approached the host to ask for a table, were told there was only one table available outside under the awning which she described as it s dry. So we said okay. When we got to the table, the table and one of the chairs were wet. The host helped wiped the table dry for us then walked away without noticing that the other chair is also completely wet and no one can sit. So we had to went back to get her attention to help wipe the chair. When she came back second time, she literally just wiped the chair dry and walked away, without saying anything. What I don t like here is that, you can t tell the customers the table is dry when you don t know it s actually dry. When it s actually wet, you wiped one thing walked away and then came back wiped another thing, said absolutely nothing? Hmm can you imagine from being told it s dry to having to get her wipe table and chair in two separate times? Then it was too cold and wet outside we decided to leave the restaurant, then they said there is a table inside now, we then changed inside. When its near the end of our meal, somehow the same host decided to come ask if she can clear the plates with food. So we said we were still working on it. On that, I wish she also noticed the empty glass and got us water. It s like she noticed the plates with food to clear but not the empty glasses to fill water? There is definitely room for improvement for the host. Our server was great. Food is decent. Would we go back? Not too sure about that.

Came for lunch. Forgot to take picture of the menu. Food is delicious with good portion size. We ordered chicken salad and pickerel burger but couldn t finish. Price is very reasonable. We spent just over $100 before tips including 3 beers. Service is extremely friendly and nice. Very comfortable sitting outside in the sun. Would recommend as a go to place in Stratford.

Talk about a letdown! We had to eat outside because all the tables inside were occupied (now that part is admittedly understandable), the food was served cold and wasnt very good, a waiter spilled soup on my moms brand new shirt and wasnt very sympathetic or helpful and to top it off, the waiter gave us someone elses bill. When we pointed that issue out, he rolled his eyes and reluctantly went back inside, like it was a major inconvenience to *HIM*! Maybe Im blowing things out of proportion but dont eat here unless its your only option!

Great English pub style. Local source food all made in house. Varied menu more up market than typical pub style. Great for before and after theatre. Nice outdoor patio. Dogs welcome outside. Hotel is run by Best Western. Make what you will of that. Nearby activities: All theatres nearby but the Festival theatre is more of an ambitious walk. Walkability: Down town and close to river walk and theatres.

Food takes too long to arrive. 40mins +, which is very frustrating.

If you are looking for a really good resteraunt in Stratford that suits your needs then Mercer Hall Is the place for you. My fiancé amd I went to dinner during labour day long weekend. Its a Great resteraunt with a patio, inside is amazing different sections of the resteraunt looked awesome. We sat in the booth with pillows very comfortable, the food was delicious they have gluten free, dairy free, and nut free food options the service was phenomenal definitely coming back here for sure.

Was here on a day trip yesterday for lunch before seeing a matinee - outstanding food and very friendly service. Between the specific recommendations and everything else on the menu it was tough to choose, but ended up going with the pickerel sandwich which was simply one of the best fish-based dishes Ive ever had. Companion had spicy shrimp Thai noodles which were also excellent according to him. Portions generous and price reasonable as well. Highly recommended for anyone going to Stratford Festival shows or otherwise, and I will definitely be back!

We didn t stay in the hotel but sat on the patio on a Friday night for dinner. I ordered the peanut crunch salad with tofu and my friend had the green salad with chicken and miso soup on the side. My salad was amazing. Fresh, flavourful, full of beautiful vegetables, crispy tofu, cilantro in a peanut dressing. One of the best salads I ve ever had. Would highly recommend. Service was excellent and food came out quickly.

We had dinner at the Mercer last Friday night and we absolutely loved the food and the service was fantastic! We had crispy fried rice balls, mijikai maki, bento box and Korean BBQ glazed crispy chicken rice bowl. All of it was absolutely amazing! It was alot of food so we had enough to share for lunch the next day! I would highly recommend eating here and we look forward to our next visit!

Everything I ve ever ordered from here has been absolutely delicious!

I ve eaten here twice, several years apart, and both times enjoyed exceptional food, generous portions, a playful menu with creative Japanese-American fusion dishes and well-made classics. They also have interesting cocktails and an impressive list of beers and ciders. The service is friendly, efficient, and the staff are notably helpful and knowledgeable when asked for recommendations. It s well worth a visit on its own strengths, and absolutely a great place for a meal for anyone who is there for the nearby theatres.

Breezed in and out for a quick lunch before heading to the theatre. Service was courteous and efficient. We ordered the Bao platter and spiced lamb salad. The salad was great, wonderful combination of textures and flavors. The Bao were fun, each one was very different, but the flavors were a little unbalanced. Buns were fluffy, however, and very soft. Food came out so fast so we could get to the theatre on time.

We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday with dinner. It was our first visit. The food was delicious and our server was friendly. The nachos with crispy chicken were the best nachos we ve had in a long time. We had the Korean Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl and the Tokyo Cioppino. Both delicious!

We have been here for dinner a couple times now...the food has always been great and the service is good. Never stayed in the lofts above, but maybe one day. But until then, we will continue to keep Mercer in mind when making a dinner choice while in Stratford.

Stopped in for a quick bite and a coffee but it all went wrong with a minor medical emergency! Everyone was fine in the end. The staff were super helpful and understanding. Definitely will be back.

Was in the Bacon and Ale trail, came in and sat down and was ignored, no one came over in over 10 minutes, lots of people walking by - looking at as and zero service. Too bad as the menu looked very interesting and someplace I would have returned - we spent over $100 down the road, but to be completely ignored was absolutely disgusting behaviour. We wound up getting up and leaving, and not one person spoke with us. I am completely shocked by this, as I have never been treated like this and get better service at a fast food chain.

The food was just ok , we had the fried chicken dinner on recommendation from others. Portion was small for the high price . We had to wait quite a while to order intially , service was fine after that.

Came here to meet a girlfriend and while the food was ok (wasn t stellar in the moment, had the fried chicken), I had a nasty case of food poisoning afterwards. The waitress, while generally friendly and attentive during the meal actually kicked us out of the restaurant as our table had been booked for another reservation, but tables near us remained open/available. We felt very rushed throughout our experience dining in here. I understand the need to clear tables efficiently, but when it interferes with one s ability to enjoy an evening out, and the waitress is eying you constantly to see where you re at in term of eating the meal, they ve lost me. We found it incredibly rude. I will not be returning.

Extremely arrogant manager (don t know the name, just that she was outright rude). Lied to our faces about the wait times, and when asked got a very curt and rude response. I never ever like to use the race card or accuse anyone of that, but this was the first time in my life I felt it conspicuous enough to mention this in the review. Of course, my wife and I did not eat at this place after this condescending behaviour of this particular female manager so I really don t know or care about the taste! Made us wait for 45 minutes (told us the wait time is only 25 minutes as we were first on the wait list) and then when we asked again she told us 1 more hour, meanwhile letting other people get their tables (these folks had not reserved tables)

Great spot to stay and dine! If you have difficulty with stairs, this may not be appropriate for you. Dinner was delish! Loved the Korean crispy chicken bowl. The creme Brule, while silky, did not have a hint of ginger, which was the reason for ordering. Excellent cocktails, especially whiskey sour and perfect storm!
