Excellent meal as usual but servers are somewhat unprofessional looking with printed T shirts and baseball cap. Also carafe of wine is total ripoff served in what you would usually get a mixer for a drink and providing about two fingers of wine each for two people, in a wine glass. Food

Great service. Tried a good portion of the menu across our whole party and it was all satisfactory.

Had dinner here tonight. I had a great recommendation by our server and our food was amazing, however the customer service was even better. Can t wait to visit again and enjoy the same hospitality. 10/10, recommend to all.

2024/9/01 weekend. Please take this as positive feedback to improve service. We thought it is Indian cuisine, but their food did not taste like what you expect from East Indian fine dine restaurant. They did not provide spoons/forks to us and served food, when we asked, their staff did not seem understanding what we aree saying. Roti (bread) did not really taste authentic roti. We said mild food, but to our surprise it was very hot. Atmosphere was quite noisy. Seats were not comfortable and I could not sit with comfort. I did not really like the food or service or atmosphere. One thing I liked is that they offered Swiss chocolate when we paid the bill. I hope they improve, this was not at all fine dine experience as they advertise. Also, I would expect a bit politeness, on asking for spoons I got response that they do not provide spoons, in fact on my table they did not even provide forks as well. Thank you. Vegetarian options: limited and very hot. Dietary restrictions: very limited, you have to ask.

We have een going to Raja once a year when doing our theatre tour. Always a treat, except this year. Server shows up wearing a baseball cap. Cap, this isnt a Jays game. Appetizers show up, they looked 10 seconds from being burned. No sauces, call cap over. Appetizers done, wheres our wine. Call cap over again. Main course-Korma Chicken, chicken was dry and obviously thrown into the sauce rather than being cooked in it. No almonds, no raisins, and the sauce was bssically ground coconut in a tasteless cream sauce. Oh yah, cap comes over with our naan. No, we didnt order garlic naan, plain please. Mixed vegetable bajee-slightly mushy, little flavour. Mushrooms? Corn? All in all, a let down all around. I say try again next year, wife says nyet. Not sure what has happened over the last year but they had better up their game.

Love this place, when its open. Called yesterday to ask if they were open for lunch. The person said yes. Made the 38km drive today, parked up, paid the meter, restaurant closed!!!

This is a great restaurant with all the feel of fine dining, but without the prices. The staff and extremely friendly and helpful and seem genuinely delighted to be serving. The food is freshly cooked and delicious. Reservations can be made online. Parking: Parking is free on a Sunday. We were able to park right outside.

I had the lamb dansak and it was delicious! The lamb melted in my mouth and the pineapple was so sweet, which nicely complimented the spice of the curry! An excellent choice to celebrate my birthday. The service was great too and the atmosphere was pleasant. The music was quiet and calming. This was our first time dining in and it s easily one of our favourite restaurants now. Highly recommend!

It s not even Indian food. So bland

Me and my 4 sisters ate dinner at Raja s and it was an amazing experience. The food, the ambiance and the staff all was great! One of our sister was meeting us after 10 years and the owner made our special occasion so memorable. We will definitely go there again and I will recommend this restaurant to all those who want to enjoy good authentic Indian food!

We had a fantastic dinner as a party of six between shows at the Avon Theatre. The Korma and Prandan were rich and fragrant without becoming cloying. The restaurant was pleasant- not loud and and too bustling, so we could easily hear each other. The service was attentive and the portions were generous. We make it a point to eat at Stratford Raja every time we come to Stratford. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten and not free and vegan options.

Worst experience, though servers were nice , but there was nothing indian about the food bhindi was without spices and it was full of tasteless gravy. Paneer jhalfrezi was the worst I tasted in my entire life. When asked , they told it was prepared by non- indian chef. So off-course , food was missing indian side .

Worst experience ever at a restaurant. Their license should be revoked. We went there with our guests and ordered appetizers with tea, waited for 20 mins and then a guy came probably owner, yelled that they cant serve appetizers alone without main course. Now this thing was not informed to us when the server took our order initially. Total wastage of our time.

Hello, I have recently visited stratford for vacation and wanted to try Indian food here since I am a huge fan of it. But this restaurant is very very disappointing. Food tastes like garbage and by looking at the interior, I would assume that the hygene is also not good. I sincerely request anyone who is reading this review to seriously consider not dining at this place. There is another place in stratford called Indian Grocery Takeout, I would recommend try eating there. #closeRaja#disgusting

****DO NOT EAT HERE*** The food is devastatingly worst. I have had many indian restaurants in america and mexico, but this was very disappointing. The food tasted bad and the restaurant staff didnt even care about it. Very bad food and very bad service too. I would not recommend eating at raja stratford. I would really appreciate if the health inspector paid a visit to this place.

I feel bad writing this because I have a lot of great meals here pre Covid but my lunch today and my co workers was not good. Hopefully it was just a one off. This was for the Stratford location.

I recently had lunch at Raja with my brother and it was hands down the BEST meal we ve had in a long time! If you love authentic Indian food this is the place to go. The service was excellent, and the chef even sent out some new food items on our mixed platter for us to try. Overall it was a really good experience and we will definitely be back again.

I have been a customer at the Raja in Stratford for many years, definitely my favourite Indian Restaurant in Southwestern Ontario. During my last visit, I was pleasantly surprised to run into friends I had not seen in many years - a wonderful place to meet and eat! Parking: There is plenty of parking available in nearby parking lots as well as on the street.

I came here in summer last year. Cane to knw they are doing buffet right now. So I couldn t stop myself. I saw there lower dinning areaa filled with so many dishes. Definitely it is an international buffet raja is offering us. Really enjoyed the food. Will be back again shortly.

Came here for dinner with my frnds on Thursday night. Frndly staff and yummy food. I did buffet bt wanted to order chicken jalfrezi from menu. N guess what!! They gave me the dish on the house and juss charged for the buffet. Jalfrezi was a very nice n spicy curry but at the same time very filling. Thankyou and keep it up Raja

Edit; Updated my five star rating to 3 stars as they gave us old vegetable biryani and it tasted spoilt. They gave us a half refund, it was disappointing as we had a great experience last time. ----- Had a great experience. The food was delicious, the servers were very friendly and professional. I ordered Vegatable Biryani which was so good. I also ordered Saag Paneer along with Garlic Naan, it was very comfort food like. Had to add a bit of salt in it though, but overall good tasting food. I didnt expect much from one of the few Indian restaurants around, but I approve of this one!

We often have Raja delivered to our home when were entertaining friends. Its simply divine--it even impresses a couple of extremely skilled and experienced cooks we know who also produce excellent Indian dishes. On top of that, the person who delivers it is always kind and charming. Stratford offers some very fine dining, and Raja definitely holds its own. Dont miss a chance to enjoy it.

My wife and I enjoyed an exceptionally tasty and well-prepared meal hosted by the owner, Zafar and his server, Aishna, and Anna, who promptly topped up the water. The food was freshly prepared and delicious, and the service was prompt and efficient. HIGHLY recommended and good value for $.

As Shakespeare almost wrote, if food be the music of love, then I want to dance all night to the symphony of flavor, quality, quantity, and overall outright deliciousness! Came by with a family of friends after a fabulous play at the Festival, and would absolutely be eating there right now if we were still in Stratford. An amazing gift of a gem of a spot in this sweet town. So glad to have found!

We were four people who dined at Raja this last Saturday, July 29th 2023 and immediately after entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a genuine smiling and beautiful face of a woman working there who turned out to be the wife of the owner. She had no financial need to work there, but rather wanted to contribute to a wonderful dining experience. What followed was a palate-enhancing experience. Delicious perfectly seasoned food. Two of our party live in Chelsea, Quebec, while my love and I live in Montreal where a plethora of great Indian restaurants compete with other every day. My favourite cuisine is Indian cuisine. Raja topped my beloved Montreal restaurants and comfortably so. We will be back at Raja every time we visit Stratford to soak in a play or two.

Came for a play with a group of friends and we were very silly and did not have reservations for dinner. After being turned away at multiple resturant we settled here. This was not our first choice although I love Indian food because one in the group has dietary restrictions. They were able to seat us which was great. After were were seated we were offered water. While we were ready to order after settling in we had to ask twice if someone could take our order, while we noticed some tables around us being served. As the resturant started to get busy, we were hungry and were a little bit frustrated. However the owner himself came to our table apologized and proceeded to take our order and wait on our table the rest of the evening and he made it right. We really appreciated his efforts . RACISM ALERT! This review is based on personal experience & does not concern other customer reviews. At first we assumed this restaurant is same as the RAJA in KITCHENER but unfortunately the owner Mr. Zafar has copied the entire concept but fails to provide best service like The Original RAJA Of KITCHENER does. I have heard Brown people are greatest enemies of brown & Mr. Zafar is a perfect example of this. The restaurant doesn t mention itself as a Fine Cuisine on Google Maps. Since it is the only INDIAN restaurant in Stratford, we arrived there at 5.30pm in the evening for some chai & pakoda as suggested by maps. The server mentioned that they have launched Buffet but of course being an Indian I would not prefer to eat a buffet in the evening at 5.30pm so I proceeded with Coffee & pakoda from their snack menu. (The pakoda was uncooked, it was probably made from previous day leftover batter, on informing it was replaced with other plate which was again the same). While we were waiting for the order we heard Mr. Zafar say YE LOG YAHAN SIRF PAKODA KHANE AYE HAI . But while taking our order, the server did not mention us that they don t server just the snacks we probably would have walked away, there s no short of better restaurants if one can drive a few kms. After we were done, we asked the server isn t this Raja same as the one in Kitchener she said no it wasn t the same, then Mr. Zafar walked to our table to tell us that his restaurant is a Fine Cuisine Restaurant we had to eat something huge & they don t serve just the snacks coz his table cloth itself costs $5 & he previously worked at Original Raja Kitchener & I felt the burn for him. I really felt sad for this man knowing the incoming of (Indian) customer is very low and that he only pleases the white people, anyway that s not my concern. I CAME I ATE I PAID. We ve been coming here for years and I can honestly say the food and service is consistently good! Lunch is the most affordable option and you get so much food! A friend and I shared Butter Chicken and Beef Korma with Onion Bhajee to start and still had leftovers to bring home (all of this food for under $50!) Everything was excellent and the server was very attentive. We had the buffet before and it was disappointing but the food from the menu is always delicious.

As a fellow restauranteur, I can say for a fact that no restaurant to this day (late October 2023) is still entirely out of the woods when it comes to consistently providing its customers with first class service, attention to detail, superb and fresh food, and an adequate selection menu possibilities. To this day, post-covid, each of those categories (service, focus, freshness, menu choices) still is plagued by many post-covid problems. -- Three family members went to Raja on a quiet Thursday evening and we were delighted by everything and everyone we encountered. Aishna our head server was a warm, gracious, and charming presence who circled back from time to time to enquire if our various menu choices met our expectations. The food arrived quickly, piping hot, with fresh ingredients and excellent spicing. The menu was not huge but provided a lot of possibilities. We enjoyed everything (the other waiters were also smiling ear to ear and completely charming, as well). Unfortunately we are leaving Stratford in a few days but I am sure that if and when we return, we will definitely visit Raja again. We all highly recommend it!

What a fabulous dinner! Especially after the many disappointing meals in struggling restaurants in Stratford due to the aftermath of COVID. The staff were friendly and professional .and the food was AMAZING!

We had lunch here the other day and it was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and the serer was kind and attentive. I ordered the Chicken Madras which was delicious, the flavors and level of spice was perfect with just the right amount of heat. I really enjoy spicy food so Im glad they didnt hold back. Their naan bread is on another level. Easily the best naan Ive ever had and Ive had it from many well reviewed Indian and Mediterranean restraints. Having naan at home will never be the same now, it doesnt even compare to how good the naan here is. We were lucky enough to be there one a nice sunny day, sitting on the patio surrounded by all their beautiful flowers really was a treat. This place is fantastic, we cant wait to go back.

Very disappointed made a reservation on there web site for 5pm on Monday August 22 2022 and when we showed up they where closed even though we got a confirmation of our reservation saying that they would us soon

In menu it was described as mild but it was very very spicy couldn t eat after couple of bites I have tried mild Indian food in Kitchener,Brampton,brantford and they were really mild but please make the food as you guys describe it in your menu. It was very disappointing. The samosa were served cold and old. The main dishes were served tepid and sent back to be heated. Rice arrived late long after main dishes arrived.

Sat down for an hour only to get water (after going up and asking for it). Left after an hour since our order was never taken even after asking.

After theater dinner was delicious in a restaurant with linens and food served hot and very tasty. Large portions of enjoyable food. Would definitely recommend and suggest reservations if its a theater day. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available.

They are a little understaffed but if you are up for a delicious meal, just make sure you have some time. Worth it!!

A birthday celebration on Friday, November 4th. We decided on Raja, as it was always a great pre-pandemic experience, so we thought they deserved our support, post-pandemic. Disappointed we were not. The food was complex, detailed, and totally amazing. The ambiance very warm and pleasant, if not elegant. Our server was the most gracious young lady. Seemingly alone in her duties at the front of house, she was very much appreciated, thank you. We applaud our Raja experience, as this birthday celebration was memorable and worthy of praise (and another visit). Well done! Cheers!

review for raja WOW. I can t even fit into this review how amazing my time here was. My mom and I ordered take out from here because it was one of the only restaurants open later at night (and Indian food is amazing as well). It started to rain, so we asked it we could eat our takeout inside. These people were SO NICE about it! they set us up with plates, towels, dips for our food, and salad instantly, without us even asking. I really wish I could name the servers in this review to give them a special thank you, but i forgot to ask their names. They gave me cake at the end which was amazing, I love this restaurant!! In terms of the food, it was exceptional. my mother and I ordered the $20 mixed platter, and it was delicious (I definitely recommend this dish, lots of quantity, quality and variety)! If i could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. Hands down the best service I have ever had. Thank you guys for making our night out a night to remember!!

Raja is hands down the best Indian Cuisine weve ever had. We have been eating there for 15 years whenever we visit Stratford. The food is consistently superb and the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Owner-Attention required. Black Friday night at 9pm your staff has not allowed to sit and said we are closed as our chef wants to leave early. Shocked - Surprised. Are you really interested in running the restaurant with this kind of experience giving it to customer??

Beautiful establishment ... loved the atmosphere ... the food was absolutely delicious. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate me being Vegan remaking dishes Vegan, my waitress was the sweetest thing ... I am very grateful for my experience last night at the Raj. Thank you again for a wonderful dinner. Your food was delicious ~ hats off to the chefs as well :)

The restaurant is beautiful inside. Great portions and amazing staff! I am a regular customer and the food has never disappointed
