Nov 30/24 We returned (reservation is a must) and enjoyed yet another delicious dinner! ___________ The food was delicious the selection on the menu was great and the prices were equally great especially for the level of food one receives. The only comment I would make is the waitress could have came back to our table to take the our finished dishes away after it finished eating. Nothing more unpleasant than sitting enjoying the taste of the food we just finished eating looking at dirty plates. But this restaurant is definitely worthwhile checking out if you really enjoy Afghani food

I have not been here in a while. The food is still really good, things were really fresh and delicious this time and we were all pleased with the quality of the food. Meats were cooked well and not overly done or dry. Rice was fragrant and enjoyable. My only issue is that staff are not the most welcoming not the best when it comes to dealing with customers. We were not given a choice on the vegetarian side that comes with our order and when I asked for a different option the waiter huffed at me and gave me a look before finally agreeing with my request I would go again, the food is great, but better service would be appreciated.

Ordered Uber eats, they made a mistake on my order but the lady answering the phone was very pleasant and fixed all the mistakes with our order. Will definitely order again.

Sept 26-my family of 4 were greeted & assigned a booth. 12 mins later server comes to take our order. after taking our orders states I am sorry, I should not have given you a table b/c we are really busy & we have to wait an hour for our food & we have no rice. So I decided to speak with the owner to clarify why this was not disclosed to us upon arrival. Owner asked me if I was more upset because I was told after being seated about an hour wait and no rice or they shouldve told us at the door? I wouldve appreciated being told at the door so my family wouldve graciously left & found another place to dine at. Owner also had the audacity to tell me that I can order other dishes without rice? If i wanted to eat your dry naan instead of rice - I wouldve not wasted my time waiting. Afghan Chopan has been running for several years & my kids love to eat there regardless of them having a party or entertaining bigger groups. This isnt the 1st time when their customer service was at its lowest. However, last night was extra upsetting because the owner showed no empathy. hope you read this & realize that as fellow Muslim & a supporter to local businesses, your poor customer service last night as an established business owner was extremely DISTASTEFUL.

My 1 star rating is based on their customer service and non-accomadatating. Every time I visit this place, they apparently have all the tables reserved...meanwhile the restaurant is empty. In the past 5 months, I have tried to eat in their restaurant more then 30 times, but I was only successful twice. So today, September 28, 2024, I decided to try my luck again, but they told me the same nonsense of how there is no table available. Keep in mind that this was around 4:30 pm, and I am sure most people would not be reserving tables anytime before 6 pm. Out of my curiosity and wanted to really find out if they were really all booked, and maybe next time, I will also reserve a table...so I decided to wait my car right in front of their restaurant for more then 2 and half hours. I took more then 2 and half hours out of my busy time to find out if anyone would show up or if the restaurant was really all reserved. Within those 2 and half hours, only 4 groups came to the restaurant, and there were at least 10 other tables empty during that time. I just wanted a table for myself as I am here from out of town working in Surrey...so it baffles me how they could not accommodate a table for me for just half an hour for only 1 person when their entire restaurant was empty the whole time. Its just really sad that I was one of your first customers in Surrey when you first opened, and I remember how you guys treated everyone with 100 % positive customer service, but now obviously your restaurant is more popular so you dont care for 1 person taking over your table for just half an hour because they are not a group of 5 plus people. Shame on those who change their perspective once they get some popularity.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that are hard to find anywhere else. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, and I could truly taste the quality in each bite. The restaurant is also spotless, with a clean and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel comfortable right away. My friend and I recently visited the restaurant, and the experience was absolutely awful. We waited over 40 minutes. The waiter was rude, unhelpful, and ignored us when we tried to get updates. We felt completely disrespected and neglected the entire time. This was one of the worst dining experiences we ve had, and neither of us will be returning. Serious improvements are needed, especially with customer service.

Fantastic and authentic Afghani restaurant. Food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Atmosphere is also great. The kebabs are second to none. Service was slow but also friendly and we had no issues as we were not in a hurry.

Not what I expected. Wasted the weekend. Wasted the day. Made a group of 7 wait for 45 minutes only to tell us after seating that they cannot place individual orders. Only Platters allowed. Not what i expected. This place has been my fav. Now its on the No-Go list

We were told to wait 45 mins for the next table. And when we finally sat on our table, the waitress tells us that they cannot take our order because It was too long. Added: You were 7 people so we assumed you will take platters. Do we need to order according to your assumptions? And even if this was the case, couldnt you tell us this before we waited 45 mins? That too in rain? Truly disappointed. Worst experience till date.

The menu is full of dishes such as Mantu, Pulaw, Ashak, bulani, Shami kebob as well as teka kebob, lamb pulaw is my favorite one each bite was a perfect blend of textures and flavors. The restaurants decor, featuring traditional Afghan art and music, added to the authenticity of the dining experience. We attended an event in the small banquet hall . I guess the best Afghani food I ever had. I am visiting from Toronto and have many Afghan places but the flavors in Afghan grill were par excellence

By Far the worst customer service experience ever. I visited this location came all the from California. I called in advance to make reservations for 13 people but forgot our kids when we arrived we told that we are not going to fit on the table this walked us too. We asked the waitress that sorry we are not going to fit on this table. The whole restaurant was almost empty. They were like sorry we can t accommodate you and I was like what do you want us to do half people eat now and half later like why can t you just give me a separate table for like 4 people. They initially didn t wanna accommodate us at all. Then they gave us a table close to the bathroom with no chairs. Waited additional 30 mins for the waitress to come and take our order. Took order with no paper or pen. When I asked to repeat the 15 people order she made mistake number of time. At the same time 4 of our people were still standing waiting on table to be ready. A customer left there was table available we asked if they can sit there. They were like no we have other people waiting Like are you kidding me. I was not eating for free. I was giving Dollars verses Canadian. Its their lost because we ended up leaving not eating and they lost almost $900 in revenue .

This Afghan style restaurant was highly recommended by my daughter s Uber driver. I followed her to try out the food from different countries. I found it not as strong as Indian food and not spicy at all. The dipping sauce is made with yogurt and tastes light, so It is similar to Persian food, because no Taiwanese have been to this restaurant, the ordering service staff will introduce it specially, it is a very special experience, if you are interested, you can try it, I quite recommend the Obasan restaurant But the Muslim restaurant No alcohol is served!

Disappointing experience at Afghan Chopan Restaurant. After being told to take a seat by the front desk lady, I waited for 15 minutes and not a single server attended to my table. No one came to take my order, no water, no menus... nothing. It seemed like I was invisible. The lack of service was shocking, especially since the restaurant wasnt even busy. I eventually got up and left, hungry and frustrated. If you cant provide basic service, how can you expect customers to trust your food? Unfortunately, I wont be back. 1 star is even generous for this experience.

Really bad food tbh. Having heard good things about this restaurant I tried out their beef qabeli pulao and shami kebab twice and it has to be the worst quality of meat I ve ever had. It was the restaurant we used to come to the most and we used to tell everyone that it was very good, you should definitely go. The food was not the same as before, I went once and got a small portion for the same price, and when I went another time it was bigger, I was very sad...The worst thing is that the service is terrible, there is no interest. Its as if the waiters are making a special effort to drive away the customers. They are extremely rude and indifferent. Im calling out to the owner here, your waiters dont behave well at all. Fix the service of the restaurant or close it down, its a shame to waste the gas and time we spent. Its a disgrace. Im embarrassed, for years I praised this place and now it will be the opposite.

Me and my family came here for iftar with friends. All the food was really good and the atmosphere was nice too. I really enjoyed the chai and fereney, the chai had a nice cardamom-taste and the fereney was sweet and really silky. Honestly I would come again for the chai and fereney alone!

I will recommend the family combo platter if you are going in large group of 5+ people. The seating and ambience is great. Sufficient parking and service is prompt.

Great location and fantastic food

Definitely recommend the Richmond location over this. Place was severely understaffed. Food took more than one hour to serve. It was cold and looked like it was just tossed in a plate and messily brought to us in several small plates when we ordered the family plater. Waitress didnt check on us at all and when we asked for pop, she said they were out. There was a wedding next door and the full focus was on the wedding. To management - dont serve in the restaurant if you arent going to give proper service or are understaffed. This is the second time this happened. Overall, give the restaurant a chance. Just avoid this location.

We always go there as my father and family love the food but today Extremely Bad experience with them today. Visited restaurant on Christmas Day with friends. Giving one star for Outrageous customer service. Truly wish owner will take some actions. My husband has to go and ask to take our order and no one stopped by us for over 30 min. Waited for the food for another 1.5 hours, tea was basically thrown on our table, server decided to take it upon herself and substitute one veggie dish on her choice as they run out one we ordered. We asked to substitute the one she brought as it s not something we wanted and server took the plate from our noses(!!!). I ve never seen anything like that before and we asked where is she taking the dish. Her answer was Don t worry, I am not giving this dish to any other customer but I won t give it to you either. I and my friends were speechless. Stuff made a mistake, was rude during the visit, never apologized for bribing the wrong order and didn t even bother to leave the dish the mistakenly brought. OUTRAGEOUS.

Last night, I went to this restaurant with a group of my friends Everything was bad

Did a pick up of meals for 20 people, no issues. Great portion sizes and delicious food. Recommend Qabeli Pallow over Lamb Chops. Only trouble we had was placing the order over the phone, we called a couple of days before we needed the food but the asked us to call back the day of to place the order. No-one answered the phone at the time they asked us to call back nor when the restaurant was officially open. Had to go there physically to place the order.

Yesterday my family and I went to dinner and we ordered food and after more than half an hour they gave us food but I wanted an extra chicken dish and she told me after 20 minutes that they cant give us chicken to eat in a restaurant but we have to take the chicken and eat it outside the restaurant because there are 25 people and they wanted to empty our table and we told her That we ordered a cola drink and it didnt come, she replied that they had forgotten and brought our food. Ask after we finished dinner and we were asked to leave... When we told the waitress that the treatment and services were very bad she bent her head like it was a sign of affirmation that yeah hahaha what a sarcasm really she said ok the manager will come to talk to you but no Nobody comes, so we leave the nasty restaurant, close the table account, and leave without an apology from the restaurant owner for mistreating the waitresses in the restaurant. .

When he wants to reserve the hall for a party for women, there is a common corridor and inside it there are bathrooms for women and men. This is very annoying. I hope to avoid it in the next time.

I am coming from Coquitlam and I expect good service. And another problem is plastic containers for single use. I hope you will remove the bad quality plastic containers. Worst customer service. I have to say that the impolite staff left a sour taste in my mouth. Despite the appealing ambiance and decent food quality, the overall experience was marred by the rudeness of the servers. They seemed disinterested in providing good service and were dismissive. This lack of courtesy greatly affected our dining experience, and I hope the management addresses this issue and train your staff to ensure that future customers have a more pleasant visit.

Worst customer experience. I was there with my family, 2 ladies, 2 gents, a baby. We were yelled at for sitting without waiting for our turn. The lady who told us that had the attitude of cleopatra. Everyone said the food is good. We had to walk out. Thanks for that..never going back again!

We used to be loyal customers of this place mainly because we loved their food. But lately, weve had some experiences that left us feeling quite disappointed. It just creates an uncomfortable dining atmosphere. And speaking of the food, its not what it used to be. The salads, in particular, have lost their flavorful seasoning, and the overall dishes have become disappointingly bland. Its a letdown when the quality takes a nosedive. But what really got on our nerves was the consistently long wait times for our orders. It wasnt just once; it happened on multiple occasions. Waiting for 50 minutes when you were expecting your food in 20-30 minutes is frustrating, to say the least. So, as much as we once enjoyed this place, the slow service, declining food quality, and those never-ending wait times have pushed us to explore other dining options. We hope they can improve these issues for future customers.

I made a reservation for Monday at 6 but I had not read the reviews. Once I did, I saw many recent 1 & 2 stars. I thought I made a big mistake and was hoping I wouldn t be embarrassed in front of my guests. Packed as the place was, everything was excellent. We all had a great time. Nav was amazing.

Food was not particularly warm. Pulao was ok. Not many traditional pulao options are provided. Servers are not familiar with some of the traditional afghan dish we asked for.

Food never disappoints and taste is always consistent and great.

Haji Dawod, the owner of the restaurant, his Son, spouse, Navi and other staff are fantastic people. They treat me like a valuable guest. I really enjoy it! I go there every day for dinner. They are closed on Wednesdays, unfortunately.

Came from far away and as there was no seat I was told By the lady in cashier (Nav) to be waited for 25 to max 30 minutes for having empty spots and as the lady told me to wait outside and it was raining I had to wait outside, After 1 hour or more and as I saw its getting 10pm as its the restaurant closing time, I went inside and asked its more than one hour that Iam waiting and I noticed that the few family that were behind me in the line at the begining are already seated and getting served. And when they brought the first dish as I ordered (Manto), it wasn t cooked properly (Raw). Really experienced the worse customer service and will never come again.

Amazing food!! Way better than I expected. The kebabs were so juicy and flavorful. Kabuli pulao was one of the best rice dishes Ive ever had.

Used to be authentic afghani restaurant not anymore. I think ownership has changed.

Took biggest meal they have service 9 to 12 for $150 It end up feeding 6 people only hardly. I bought another 3 meals. Very small portions. Not worth the experience, paying high price for small portion.

The only downside I can think of was that they do not allow or serve alcoholic beverages.

Food was great. Restaurant was nice and clean. The only draw was the cold temperature inside the restaurant and the stuff would turn the heat on for us. We had to leave our coats on to stay warm.

The service was very bad and the food was terrible the eggplant was completely raw the rice was so bad and terrible service we had party there was no tea no dessert although we ordered and we ordered Pepsi they agreed to give us but one day before the event they told us they won t be able to give us cook or anything because of Israel so for me and my future event it s a nooo and they changed us extra

Great food, but worst customer service ever. I wouldn t blame the servers, but the management. There was only 1 server to take orders from 15+ tables. It took them 20 minutes to take our order and another 40 minutes to bring the order. The quantity has significantly decreased from the past, unless it was done deliberately by the chef because we complained about the slow service.

Worst experience ever. Extremely slow customer service. Spend over $350, barely feed 12 people. I do not recommend this place.

This has become a staple with our family. This is our second time coming here, my mom really enjoyed the food which is rare because she is very particular with what she likes. This has become one of her favourite spots. The food and service is amazing.

I ve been to this restaurant many times and it never disappoints. I also came here for my grade 7 grad and it was awesome. :)

The food was very small for two people. It was rice with four small pieces of meat and a side dish of four very small pieces of chicken tikka and half a skewer of kebab, one for two people and two very small pieces of meat. I do not know how this amount of food is sufficient for two people in a combo for two people. I had a friend with me who I invited to this restaurant, and I was very embarrassed by the small amount of food .I do not recommend going there . I recommend Iranian restaurants, as they are very generous and their food is cheaper, and for one meal I, as an individual, cannot complete it from the amount of food.

The food here is absolutely delicious and serve big portions and I loved the setting too, they had really cool art pieces.

The food tastes good and the portions are good in size. My comment is about the portion of Nan bread it should be bigger a little bit. Vegetarian options: They have options for vegetarian
