First time visiting here this evening. We dine out quite a bit and also travel a lot and have to say it was one of the most enjoyable evenings we ve had in a long time. The wait staff and manager were amazing. Food and drinks were fabulous. We will be back soon and highly recommend.

Great service from our server, good pricing food and drink alike. The ladies mac n cheese w/ pulled pork was super good, as well as I don t care where you have had a fried chicken sandwich before because the hot honey truffle chicken sandwich that dominion serves kicks a$$!!! Would eat one for breakfast lunch and dinner hands down best chicken sandwich I have ever had!! 10/10 from me

Popped in for a drink with coworkers. The service was a bit slow as the server tried to figure out which beers were in stock and which werent. She came back to our table a couple of times to clarify what they had. My coworker ordered some calamari which he said was a bit flavorless. The atmosphere was fine. It was a nice enough looking dining area.

I stayed in the Civic Hotel 2 nights and had the absolute pleasure of dining at Dominion both nights! I also had the pleasure of being served by the wonderful server Valerie both nights. She was cheerful, gracious, understanding, and had great knowledge of the menu and great drink and food recommendations! I felt cared for my entire meal both times i was served by her. On my second night i came in around 11:15pm, noticed that closing time was just 45 minutes away, resolved myself to just ordering to go and eating in my room, i was fortunate enough to be greeted by the Hostess Jenny! Jenny encouraged me to sit in the restaurant and enjoy my meal! i felt so welcomed by her kindness and customer service! On the way to the table, she engaged in polite conversation and was genuinely interested in what i had to say and was very pleasant! The food was delicious, yes. But the service provided by these 2 wonderful ladies is why i will be returning on my next trip to BC.

I worked closely with Sharlainna Torrebadell over several weeks to organize my husband s 80th Surprise Birthday Party on October 19th. We utilized the private room in the restaurant for our 19 guests. Sharlainna was a joy to work with from start to finish and I was able to choose a menu and wines for the evening. We can t is not part of Sharlainna s vocabulary. She is 100% responsive, proactive, helpful and professional and a credit to the restaurant. Every other staff member I dealt with before and during the party were also very helpful and upbeat. Kudos to Dominion Bar + Kitchen. I highly recommend them for any celebration or gathering.

I ordered through Uber today ,I got the food there is hardly any salad the quantity is so less ,no cutlery being provided .Dissapointed to see such a small portion for almost $30

In the morning the service is awful. 10-15 for somebody to bring the menus. 30 mins at least to get scrambled eggs. I don t think they understand that people have other things to do during the day. Also expensive.

I bring a group of business people every month...every month, after month, ALL the orders are outstanding . Wait staff, super friendly and helpful. Thus....we keep coming back....its great.

Very disappointed with the food and service. Pizza was a sloppy mess. Pasta was soggy. Extremely over priced and staff was rude. Waited over 30 minutes for disgusting food. Will not be back.

On a recent three day visit to Surrey, BC, I had the pleasure of once again staying at the Civic Hotel and it was a great experience. The hotel is perfectly located, the beds comfortable, the staff friendly, but the best part of my stay was the great restaurant the Dominion. I ended up eating most of my meals there and enjoyed all of them. A few of the dishes I had that stood out to me were: Poutine, made with their incredible chunky fries, topped with gravy and cheese curds and I added grilled chicken on top. The fries are great, the gravy rich and flavorful and the chicken added the bit grilled protein I needed. Rossdown chicken wings salt/pepper version. The wings were perfectly cooked and seasoned, then I paired it with a side of steamed rice with just a touch of their Calabrian chili sauce. Cavatappi Mac & Cheese, again with grilled chicken. This is made with a jalapeno mornay sauce so it is a bit spicy, but I grew up in Texas so it hit the spot for me. Black Forest Ham eggs benedict was a surprise as it was served on buttermilk crumpets which were incredible. The eggs were perfectly prepared, the hollandaise rich and creamy but served atop the crumpets really elevated this dish. I left wanting more. Rossdown chicken & Lemon Risotto was one of the best dishes Ive ever eaten and a great surprise. I expected a simple dish based on the description, but it was quite complex. The dish was plated beautifully, a real work of art, but the flavors came together to make it a very special dish for me. I will definitely order this one again. On my last morning there on Sunday, I decided I was in the mood for a real breakfast so I enjoyed one last meal before I checked out. Though they offer an incredible looking buffet, I really wanted a made to order breakfast. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet and I asked if I could order a side of their great crumpets instead of toast or English muffin and they happily did so. Such a perfect last meal there. As I was enjoying my breakfast I noticed a chef checking on the items in the buffet and I waived him over to share with him how much I had enjoyed all my meals on my trip. I recapped my favorites and thanked him and his crew for doing such a great job. Thank you Chef Manny for taking the time to speak with me about your dishes, asking me questions about my experience and for being so warm and friendly. The Civic Hotel will be my go to when visit the area, thanks to the Dominions quality of food and service and great staff.

The food was delicious. The personnel was really pleasant and friendly.

Stayed in the hotel (also 10/10) and ate every meal here because the staff were so amazing and the food was unreal. The floor managers are also so focused and personable. I can t wait to go back!

Had a dinner for 10. We ordered about 8 appetizers, they were delicious and well prepared. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. I would recommend this location for drinks and appys. For dinner, 4 out of the 10 of us didnt quite enjoy our chosen dinner entrees. The other half had no complaints about their entrees.

Our party spent a significant amount of money here and we were disappointed with the service we received at the end of the night. Would not come back.

If youre looking for a wonderful dining destination, Dominion Bar + Kitchen is a must-visit. They offer pleasant service and a good meal. This is an excellent place to satiate your hunger and eat a big supper.

Food was okay!

This is the best restaurant within a hotel I have ever been to. Had dinner and brunch and it was excellent both times. Cannot recommend this place enough for an easy place to eat when you re staying at the Civic.

Besides other ethnic places this is probably the only legit restaurant in Surrey. Consistency in all aspects. Creative menu and very tasty. Highly recommend if passing through this area. And the staff are so friendly. Thank you for always taking care of my Dad and I.

Celiac friendly, lots of gluten free stuff on the menu. Somewhat weird choices though, like mortadella pizza with pistachios and fig glaze. Not bad per se, just not traditional. Drinks are fantastic and very creative, I didnt know what to pick there were so many interesting things! Service was friendly and fast. Its the nicest place around the area for sure. Ive have been here 4 times in the last year. On my last visit was near closing 1030 pm. The $25 burger was only kind of worth it when ordered at 700 pm on my previous visit. A big drop down at 1030pm , the burger was way way worse. I suggested to the bartender that the burger was way better last time and I got the response was very aggressive. Do you want to send it back then?!?! I was put off and emailed the manager and had no response. I live at the same address (theres a residential tower in the sane building)

Nice place. They have breakfast buffet for 28pp. Came in with wife had a few drinks while watching hockey n basketball game. Great place to hang with friends. Friendly service. Quick n very attentive. Food looked good. We had a craft beers, I had lager wife had sour. Had green n shared a pizza . Looking for to going back.

It was my first time here and I had the poutine and it was a very good portion. Our server was Gabriel and she was so professional, sweet and took her time to chat with us and give menu suggestions. Great job. Would recommend trying this restaurant out

The food and service were impeccable. The manager was outstanding and she offered a welcoming environment that made you feel comfortable and at home. She deserves a promotion for her excellent interpersonal skills. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

It is a bit overpriced for a burger or what I would call bar food, but a great price value for the more sophisticated dishes. I stayed at the hotel for a week and have to say every meal was flavorful and cooked to perfection. If anyone around me even hinted, they were not expecting the dish they ordered to be different... the staff were asking if there was something they could do. (Almost always people wanted to keep the dish.) They go above and beyond in all capacities. A big Thank you to Ekash for keeping entertained with conversation and great service.

Ordered take out at the hotel, the massive cookie dessert was tasty. The pizza on the other hand was complete and utter garbage, especially at the 26 dollar price point. The pizza here reminded me of a pie served up at an all inclusive resort. The dough was not browned on the underside but still cooked . It was very easy to tell that it is not made in house, both based on the flavour and texture. It seems they aren t using an oven that is hot enough to cook the pizza quickly and at an even temp. The toppings seemed to be of good quality. I ve had better pizza from a fast food place such as Famoso. My suggestions would be to make dough in house, find a better supplier for dough, throw the pizza on the kids menu or just stop making pizza all together.

This is my go to place for every milestone and celebration. I recommend it to everyone. They re my first call on valentines, anniversaries and everything in between

If you want a fantastic meal with great service this is the place! The menu has an excellent selection. You wont regret anything you order! Have been here for both lunches and dinner. Perfect for everyday, meeting with friends or special occasions with family. Five stars! Worth the drive.

We ordered for take out to eat in our room upstairs at the Civic hotel. The sirloin steak was cooked exactly as requested and peppercorn sauce was divine!! The truffle honey hot chicken sandwich was also delicious! Highly recommend the food at the Dominion. We loved all of it, right down to the dressing on the house salad!!

Great food and atmosphere considerations to location behind very huge buildings. Service was slow. Restaurant couldnt keep up with small crowd. We let server know we are in a timely crunch because of city hall employee was in attendance. Despite that..water wasnt cold at first and new one better. Waited for bill but was not given birthday desert. My friend couldnt wait any longer for it and so we were unable to share. I Waited I Another 7 minutes for it to go. Upside, it was absolutely scrumptious. Id come back for food and make sure we were not in a rush. Parking: Would like to know if free parking is available

Finally a place that does hollandaise right. Now if they could elevate their brunch potatoes they would be unmatched anywhere. I will def be back.

This remains one of my favourite local spots. Great ambience, service and offerings with seasonal rotations. For brunch, I ve always enjoyed their mimosa flights and they also have sangria & Margarita flights now. I recommend the steak and eggs as well. For their mains I particularly enjoyed their Rossdown chicken, poke bowls (Buddha & Miso) and the newly added Shortrib. Also sampled the desert skillet for the first time and was delightfully surprised.

Went back after a few years. Boy oh boy is it rough for what they are trying for. I applaud the attempt, but the food is a hard meh, honestly I m surprised they are still around. Go elsewhere

It was girls night! We ordered a bunch of things to share. We got the scotch egg, gochujang wings, beef ragout papardelle, lamb shank truffle fries and a kale caesar. Everything was so delicious, the lamb wasnt gamey, it was super tender and the cassoulet was nice and creamy! Service was also very good, our server was very attentive and checked on us ever so often. Well definitely come back!

It was one of the best dining experience ever! From ambience to service to food. We shared the Scotch Egg for appy then I had the Beef Ragout Pappardella and my husband had the tender (tasted this too!) Braised Lamb Shank for our main course. Compliments to the Chef and the team for an unforgettable time here! We will be back soon for sure with the rest of the family in tow!

The food was amazing, the chef surprised us with the masala Akuri and the shakshuka along with many other dishes. All of the dishes were awesome. The music and the atmosphere of the restaurant were also super cozy. All the staff and especially Christine was super nice and patient with us. Overall a 10/10 experience.

Went to dominion for lunch today and the first thing the server said was whichever table you choose will be only available for 45 minutes. I felt the server/staff was very rude and I sat on the table for couple minutes with 2 of my friends but I left within couple minutes. Could have had a better experience, it was not like this before. Not going back there soon again

Great food and good vibes, the Service is excellent. Very Casual dining.. The price of the food is affordable and taste fresh. You can park your car across the street where the safeway area m or underground parking. Overall definiently will come back again.

Excellent brunch spot!

Nice brunch place in the middle of Whalley area. You would think your in downtown Vancouver. Really happy to see this area slowly getting by the year. Food was great, nice vibe and awesome service. Had to remind one of our drink orders was late (halfway done our meal) and was given as a comp. Street parking is still a little sketch so use hotel and City Hall underground parking.

Food is not good but staff is good

Sad to see the staff at this establishment change up so many times, but I guess thats the service industry for you! This venue had such great potential when first opening, and now its morphed into just another boring restaurant with TERRIBLE music and they NEVER DUST THEIR LIGHT FIXTURES. DEVILS IN THE DETAILS! Stop letting middle aged yt men select the playlists for the love of god and dust your damn light fixtures which are a focal point of the design. Food is whatever. Trying so hard but missing the mark. Nice try Surrey.

Their fried chicken dishes were good. One of my party ordered chicken and waffles, I ordered a Keto bowl with fried chicken strips. Egg Benedict dishes were small portions but their bowl items were a good portion.

I found the food to be average, similar to an Earls or Joeys. The service was also average, Having to ask for water or more drinks shouldnt happen, your server should be on top of that. Nice sized cocktail list and the dessert was delicious.

10/10 eggs Benny here - the hollandaise sauce is divine. I got the BBQ Gochujang Pulled Pork Benny and honestly it beats out any other Bennys Ive had. A small suggestion would be to pair it with half a salad instead of the full plate of potatoes, to help balance out the heaviness of the meat. The Breakfast for King George was lovely too. Eggs were done really nicely, and the mushrooms really added a great flavour to the plate. This is my #1 go to place for brunch in Surrey! Well done!

We went in for brunch and got the Ross and Rabbit and Bank It Bowl and the Trio Flight mimosas and everything was amazing. The restaurant wasn t very crowded so we were given adequate attention but I m not sure how it would be during peak times. The manager came up to us and offered to move us to another table in case the sun bothered us and we thought that was really nice. We ve been here before and will come again.

Came here for the first time and had their brunch menu. I had a few friends that have mixed to positive reviews of their experiences and I can definitely understand why. I had the chicken and waffles, which were good! Ive had this a few times as it was a pretty easy to find menu item in California, so I was thrilled to have a crispy waffle and crispy, boneless chicken. I tried some of my friends bowl (BBQ pulled pork gochujang) and while it was good, I didnt find that the gochujang flavour came through as well as it could have. The drinks were also delicious and I didnt expect them to be as strong as they were, but thats not a complaint! For brunch, I highly recommend trying the different mimosas as you might find the pitcher is worth it. Do not go to this place. I had one corona beer 330ml and 2 shots of jack daniels came to $33 dollars and something and I tipped on top. The shots were so small maybe 15-20ml. Biggest rip off scam. rude staff

Came here on a Monday night for happy hour and place was packed. Great atmosphere, good menu and food was decent. Just for myself a small complaint about the tartar sauce with the fish, it tasted like mayo. Told the server but she wasnt that interested. Used the ketchup instead.

Food was good. The waffles were very good and the mimosa flights were also very good. The bowls are also large, filling, and good. It is located at the base of the Civic Hotel and is usually pretty busy unless you go early in the day, so reservations are probably recommended if you have a larger group.

Average taste for food and overpriced drinks. The service was nice and we enjoyed our server, she did a great job. It id a decent modern space but where they don t stand out is the food. It is not bad but it s nothing outstanding or memorable. My poke bowl was middling, the salmon burger was good but more burger than bun. The poutine was good! It is fine if you are in the area and hungry but I would just do cactus.

The Service was expedient friendly and welcoming. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and warm, with good tunes playing in the background. It felt very easy to casually sit back and enjoy my meal and drink. The breakfast in the morning was definitely delicious but the burger for dinner was awesome with the four winds IPA. Overall, I would highly recommend you try it at least once.

We went to Dominion Bar+Kitchen to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was very nice with not so loud music and some warm lights around. The drinks and the food were great. We had a three course meal and ordered fettuccine pasta and steak for mains, both tasted amazing. Head over to Dominion for a date night.I have also heard from my friends that their brunch is also nice :)

I would eat there again, maybe try their brunch next time as we had my birthday dinner there this time. All of us enjoyed our dish. Lovely presentation on the plate and delicious. Hubby loved crispy chicken burger with bacon. I had the thia curry, yummy! Very impressed overall, everyone in our group enjoyed their food, ambience and special kudos to the attentive hostess and serving staff!! Parking: Found parking on the Main Street Kid-friendliness: Our daughter is autistic. Hostess ensured our daughter was comfortable and was accommodating in finding perfect seating to help ease my daughters sensory intake.

We love it here! The menu has a strong mix of original items and reliable classic comfort favourites. The servers are friendly and don t seem to rush their customers. There is a kids menu which is nice and plenty of TVs and popular music. Dominion is well established since opening 5+ years ago and we are happy to see them constantly evolving and trying new things to best serve the area (addition of brunch, kids menu, seasonal menu items, etc)

Great spread on their breakfast buffet! Kids eat for half the price of an adult!!! Service was the only thing it failed a 5 star review! Managers please train ur staff to engage with customers and provide service they require!! Buffet also had indian chai!! Amazing! We also ordered in room dining as we stayed at the civic hotel and their food thai curry, pasta, and soup were all amazing!! We ordered multiple times during the course of 5 nights we stayed there!

Been going to this place since it opened. The original menu was the best but also was probably hard to execute with consistency. Great room and patio. Staff is always been good.

Went here for brunch and had a terrific time. The menu has quite a bit of options as well as drinks. The Caesars here are very good and reasonably priced. Cannot say the same for the other drinks/cocktails but food was delicious and well worth it. I would say this is a very good brunch option in the area and is firmly above the staples of IHOP / de-dutch for around the same price.

This is the restaurant inside the Civic Hotel in Surrey. Stopped by here with friends for drinks and appetizers. Ordered Truffle Fries, Calamari and Mandu (Korean Dumplings). The Mandu was decent and so was the Calamari. The fries weren t as crispy or crunchy as would have liked. The Sangria was one of the tastiest one have ever had in this part of the world. Ambience was good and comfortable and a great setting to chat and enjoy some food. Service was decent and overall a pleasant experience. They do have a lot more items on the menu which will definitely try whenever am back .

Found this to be a pretty average place to be honest. Definitely found it to be hyped for no reason. Probably because there aren t many good ones in the area. The food was good but nothing great. I enjoyed the Sangria though. Staff made a mistake with one of the dishes but nonetheless was very professional.

It was disappointing to learn that whatever you see in the reviews may not be on their menu. Food portions are very small, nice to look at but not for people with a huge appetite. Parking: Metered street parking or paid parking lot nearby. Free parking is a short walk away.

What was once great and fallen. While the management and select staff are great, the quality of food and menu have fallen dramatically. Atmosphere is a hit or miss most nights. The transportation is convenient. The entrance is through the hotel entrance. It happened to be happy hour, so I chose fried dumplings and the fried cauliflower recommended by others. If you eat too much of this cauliflower, you will get tired of it. The seasoning of fried cauliflower is the same as that of fried dumplings. The Mac & cheese is just like that. It also has a bit of pork belly, but the service I forgot to place an order for us. The price is not expensive, the cocktails are good, and the waiters are very enthusiastic.

Had a good experience at Dominion after hearing of it from many sources. The atmosphere was terrific and modern given that it is part of the civic hotel. The food was plated beautifully and was served quick considering it was during peak lunch. The menu was a little lacking and quite similar to a higher end pub but the food was quite good.

I cannot forget the bread I had for breakfast. I think it is Pumpernickel. So fresh, so good!

I came here couple of times staff is amazing. Especially Julie, she is really talented and nice to customers all the time. It feel like encountering old friend whenever I see her. She is genuine and amazing, goes beyond in customer services all the time.

I am usually a fan of their food. (Thai Coconut Mussels and Chicken Waffles are amazing) However, I ordered their wings for takeout and was shocked to see the amount/size of my wings when its advertised that you get 1lb on their menu.

I wanted to love the food here but I just did not find that the price of the food matched the quality. The experience was not a bad one at all and loved the friendly and fun service given to us by our waitress but the food was incredibly over priced and the portions small. They put in a lot of effort to work with my moms dietary restrictions and I really appreciated that. Overall I dont think Id visit again just because the food was not worth the cost. Dietary restrictions: They do a good job at working with dietary concerns. However if you are a gluten free vegan, you will be limited in what you can eat here.

Food was fresh and is a good option when staying at the civic hotel

Enjoyed a really great un-rushed lunch thanks to the perfect combination of outstanding server and excellent kitchen. Can t say enough good things about the spicy ahi tuna poke bowl. Just yummy.

First time here and the food, drinks and service was good.

So we have used this spot a few times for a large group. They accommodate us in the side room which is great for 18-20. Last night we booked again to celebrate a retirement dinner and we understood we would have the 5 tables for the 18 of us. Nope they gave us 4 and had allowed a couple to reserve the 1 other table and squished 2 people on the ends not allowing a lot of room for food on those 2 tables. There were plenty of other tables available in the rest of the restaurant that they could of been seated at. During the speeches for the retirement the couple were so loud many of us could not hear what was being said. I will not book this venue again for a get together or even go to the establishment for any reason. For a big party and celebration this was completely unacceptable. The food was good and our service was just ok, server walked away mid drink order. There are just so many other restaurants to choose from in the area for an event I will take my business elsewhere to somewhere that values the celebration and business.

I was there with my friend who is an asian lesbian in her mid-late twenties about two months ago and we had a HORRIFIC discrimination experience there! DO NOT GO HERE! She was sitting facing the bar and me with my back to the bar. During our meal, she noticed that the table between hers and the bar, called the male bartender/server over to tell him something which she didnt think anything of at first. After the server/bartender got spoken to, it was clear that that table had complained about something pertaining to my friend. Before she could even put her fork back down on the plate after taking her last bite, the server was already at our table and took her plate away and asked if he could bring us the check. She said no and asked if we could have some more water please and he filled her water glass up only half way. She has been going through some health issues and sometimes gets a subtle tick with her head that causes her head to quickly move to the side. This goes away sometimes after seconds and sometimes it takes a couple of minutes, but nothing long lasting in any way. The only other thing that we can think of is that she was wearing a shirt with a rainbow neck lining ... so either they complained about her being a lesbian or about her handicap of a quick tick. My friend is a huge foodie and she eats out more than anyone I know. I have been with her to many restaurants and we have never encountered anything like this. It was clear as day that the server wanted us out ASAP and we were NOT welcome there! We clearly felt extremely uncomfortable, didnt bother to order desert and left after finishing our sip of water. My friend did NOT want to complain or make a big deal out of this as she was mortified, but I think people need to know, especially after calling the restaurant Manager who never took any responsibility for any of this. After we called her back again, she said she talked to the server and he doesnt remember anything like that. ... Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service in every way!!! We have never been treated nor discriminated like this anywhere in our entire life! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

I got great recommendations for happy hour! when I showed up The bartender Gabriel was super friendly and gave the best food/drink recommendations plus she was fast when it came to the food and drink orders I come here every once in awhile but I think this place will be my go to spot Vegetarian options: The menu shows gluten free and vegan options But so far the edamame here has to be the best especially during happy hour

A bunch of our staff went to the Dominion Bar and Kitchen on a Friday evening. We phoned in and asked for a reservation for 6 and 1/2 an hour later we were seated. The server was amazing, very attentive and with a great personality. Our food was delicious I had the Seafood fettuccine, and it was the best I have ever had. Highly recommend the Dominion. Will be back !

Staff was rude, treated me as if it was a bother to take my order. Food took forever and it wasn t very good. Overall, bad experience, I won t be going back.

Staying at the hotel I stopped in for a solo meal. Prices are good, decor and design is great for groups and it s in a boutique hotel so very good for business meetings. Tuna tartare was different take, delicious but it was the Thai mussels that really stood out. Solid portion, fresh and big mussels. Service was fast and efficient. Going to recommend to business peers as a good spot since hotel has parking too.

Really love this place. Classiest place in the ghetto. Update: its not even the ghetto anymore. The area is now almost posh.

Absolutely love this place! The staff was super amazing as well. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but she was the sweetest! And the food is so good. For brunch I got the French toast Tower and my boyfriend got the classic chicken and waffles. The portions were a great size as well. We also got the Mimosa flight I believe. From left to right it s Grapefruit, Raspberry and Classic Orange. My personal order for best to least best would be raspberry, grapefruit and orange in the end. Overall we had a great time there. I hope to come again to try the lunch and dinner menus!

Had an amazing experience here . My drinks were made by Julie and she is such an amazing host . The drinks she suggested and made were amazing. Everyone at the bar was really having a good time with the type of drinks she made and suggested along with the food. Overall great ambience and amazing service . Would definitely come here again .

Im only giving 2 stars due to the food being good. Ive come here multiple times but this time was the absolute worst. I went with my boyfriend for dinner and our server didnt remember sangria flights, but thought I said mimosa.. two very different things. My knife had a finger print on it before I even touched it.. gross. To top it off, server wasnt attentive nor was she confident with what was on the menu. Im 100% sure you can get a side of gravy if you have poutine on the menu... Guess next time, Ill go somewhere else. OH I ALMOST FORGOT they had the AC turn on, and the server had an excuse for why. Its a week till Christmas and snowing, no need for AC
