I didn't expect much when we entered the restaurant, I am used to Filipino cuisine. But when the food we ordered arrived and I tasted, wow! All of it were so good! The food tasted delicious authentic Filipino dishes! I love the crispy pata and bulalo.
We ordered a lot as we were a big group. Service was quick, owners and servers were friendly as well. Caldereta was delicious. Meat was tender. Fried chicken was crispy and tasty. Bicol express is the bomb! It was authentic. It’s really yummy and spicy! Crispy pata and sisig also tasted nice. Chopsuey was good. Veggies were fresh. Leche flan is just right, not too sweet. Sisig fries: Sisig on fries were a good match!
Food was very mediocre. Not even good authentic Filipino food. Service was lacking in attention to detail and speediness. We kept asking the waitress for untensils, water.. etc. she never took initiative to replace those herself. Most of the time we were there, she stood around just staring and watching us eat… very awkward. I most likely will not be coming back. I’ll let all my friends and family to stay away from this place

They have live music at times! Their food is also amazing and not to say also affordable. As for dessert all of them again are amazing but as a filipino myself I approve of their Halo Halo. Keep up the great work Kanin + Ulam kitchen. Thank you po
Wish that we had taken a better pic. Food was amazing. Our first Filipino food. Chicken lumpia were crisp and delicate outside, full of tasty ground chicken. Pork belly, lechon was yummy with crazy textural layers; creamy fat, crisp skin and delicious pork. What a treat! Many caveats about the area. That said, Kanin + Ulam and the revived Turf next door are unique. Both are worth a gander.
Recently had my mom’s 65th birthday celebration at Kanin + Ulam and it was everything we wanted: good food, beautiful decoration, fantastic DJ/host/musician (kuya Ron) and cozy setting. Thank you to ate Marissa, her family and her team for providing such an excellent service and experience for my mom, guests and our family. It was such a good vibe. Thanks a million!
Excellent food and excellent atmosphere. A must visit in Surrey/Vancouver area. At this family run restaurant the Lechon Kawali is so well executed. Crispy skin, tender meat, and flavourful house made vinegar dip. You can tell how much care is put into it. The sinigang is delightfully sour. The kaldareta is slow cooked making for a delicious and deep tasting Ulam paired perfectly with rice. I don't even like halo halo and I liked this one! I can't wait to return and try more.

Food was good and free karaoke. It wasnt busy when we went on a Friday night, so we had the karaoke all to ourselves. Good value and potions.

Tucked in a hotel this restaurant can be easily missed. The food here is good. Ordered the pancit cabagan and kare kare. Portions are generous. Will come back again.

This place is a hidden gem. We absolutely loved the food and the staff will make you feel at home. Definitely would come again, and I recommend checking the place out if you want authentic Filipino cuisine.

Location is not that great as it is located in an old building and you wouldnt know it existed unless from word of mouth. 1st time experience was good. Price of food and portion size is not bad as the portions are a little larger than other Filipino restaurants in BC lower mainland, like Maxs chicken and Pin Pin who are over priced. They have limited choices so Kare Kare is not on the menu unless you pre order their large tray. Best to choose the combo as its worth the price for about $45.00 which feeds 3 people. Go try out the halo halo as it is worth it! Would recommend this place to anyone coming to Surrey, B.C. as its located right on King George and close to the Scott Road skytrain station.

Great family-owned Filipino restaurant in Surrey. We ended up here because they re one of the only Filipino restaurants in the Lower Mainland open late-ish (they close at 10pm). Great food at an affordable place and very friendly staff. Generous portions too. Would 100% recommend.
Great portion size, and pricing is fair. Hopefully price stays the same all throughout and don t follow suit with businesses raising price as any more expensive would be too much. Recommend for families and large groups! Great home food

Our family came here for my grandparents 54th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, and the owners and staff are kind and courteous. Would highly recommend everything on the menu! We will definitely come back. This is a gem in Surrey. Food

The best authentic Filipino resto in Canada
A hidden Filipino gem tucked away at the hotel near the Patullo Bridge! I took a friend here and the food was great! Halo halo was amazing and gives you more bang for the buck (other places charge $10+ for smaller than what they offer at $8). Lechon Kawali and adobo was on point More people should know about this place! Definitely a great taste of home for a great price. Everyone was friendly here too!

Nice little restaurant but could use some work. They were out of a lot of their menu items and their washrooms are grungy. The live music made up for it a little bit. Hoping they can have all their menu items available next time and perhaps expand their menu a bit to offer some other Filipino staples ie. Sabaws and silogs.
My gf and i were pretty happy with the experience we ve had in this Filipino restaurant. It s a buffet every friday with live music but the location is not great and decor could improve. The only disappointing part was when i got home and checked the bill i was charged extra $5 for wasted food left on our plate. We are not a big eater, What we ate at their buffet wasn t even worth $40 for both of us but they charged $30 each for their buffet. We just wanted to try the place if it s gonna be worth it!!! We have been to many buffets and left food on our plates but never ever we got charged extra despite of their rules. Maybe because they still make money despite of little wasted food. Imagine i have paid total of $82 including the tip. If we have just ordered in a regular menu there would be lots of left over that we could have just brought it home without getting extra charged, is that make sense??? What we ate wasn t worth $82 at all and they made more money out of us for charging us more money!!! If i would have checked my bill on the spot I wouldn t have given them a tip!!! Very disappointing!!! So I really don t know if i will continue to support their business!!! I feel like they take advantage of the rules!!!
1st time here. located in a very old building along king George before hitting Pattulo Bridge to New west. Filipino Restaurant with delicious food and great price. Also great for groups they have Karaoke so you can sing all you want! Highly recommended!!
Very welcoming staff! Food and establishment are both top notch. Felt right at home with the live karaoke performances. If you re in the mood to sing while you eat, this is the place. Very close to home for us and the food was delicious!

Was very surprised that the food tasted like my moms cooking. Definitely will go back. Only disappointed in that they did not have any Silogs on the menu. Great prices and big portions.
